Tonight we will talk about the good gift we have been given as mamas.
Good evening, mamas, and welcome back to Midlight, your light in the middle of the night. I want to start out tonight with a little story from earlier today. I um got my children's bikes together and their helmets, and we went for a ride around our little town today to go to the library. And as we were crossing the street and I was looking at all of my little children riding their bikes ahead of me, I thought, what a gift it is to be a mama and have all my little ones riding their bikes ahead of me, being so big. And it was just a sweet moment, one that I pondered in my heart for a few minutes. I know you can relate, mama. We have these moments where you can't really describe it so great with words, but you feel it deep in your heart. Like being a mama to this little one or these little ones is the best thing in my life that I've ever gotten to be a part of. And I have felt that in so many capacities as a mother, that it's just the greatest gift to be a mama to these children. And there was traffic jams, meaning bike jams, where they ran into one another and they got frustrated, and there was disagreements at times of which way they wanted to go to get home. And even the very DVD we went to check out that was there an hour ago when we looked at the library catalog was gone by the time we got there. So there was some disappointment too. But the time together and riding along the road together and looking at their little heads in their helmets and their little feet on the pedals, and I was thinking, what a gift it is to be a mom. And I was thinking I'd like to piggyback off of last night a little bit, which is when we talked about to be present is a present for our children. The time we get to spend invest into their little lives is such a gift from the Lord. And I think we can get bogged down sometimes with the responsibilities of it all, and we can kind of let the understanding of wow, this is a treasure that I have asked the Lord for. That part can go to the wayside sometimes in the daily grind of it all. So tonight, mama, I am encouraging you to come back to a place of thankfulness for the beautiful, messy treasure of a life that we have as mamas to care for these little ones on a daily basis, to make the meals, to feed the babies, to take the bike rides, and rotate the laundry. Over the last few months of our life, we have experienced several losses that were very hard. And in the midst of the losses, something I learned and I took from it was what a gift today is. Because we only get so many, and we know that time here is finite, we know that it's not forever, but sometimes we live our lives as if it is, and we don't treasure the moments because we just think it's endless. But mama, it's so important to make the very most of this night and tomorrow and the next day and count the blessings that are in your day versus going through frustrated. Oh mama, I know there's distractions and interruptions. In fact, I've tried to record this very episode multiple times tonight, but those interruptions and those distractions, like we learned last night, are truly just God putting before you the ones that are the most important to give ministry to in that moment, which for me was my family. In Psalm 27 and verse 13, it says, I remain confident of this, I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Even in the distractions, even in the interruptions, can you see it? Can you see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living? That is for us, mammas. We are in such a beautiful season of our lives to be able to be in this place of time with our children where we get to pour into their lives, and we get to be the ones to share our faith with our families and our little ones, and it is a good time in our lives. I am encouraging you tonight, mamas, no matter what you're going through, I do realize that many of you are in a season of exhaustion, weariness, just looking for some rest. I want to remind you that God will give you rest. In fact, it tells us that in his word, he says, I will give my beloved rest. He tells us that in Psalm 127 in verse 2, because God knows that we need that as well. So Mamas, I just want you to know that the Lord has given you a wonderful gift in allowing you to be a mama. He knows that you're tired, he knows the weariness that you face, and he will give you rest. I want you to pay close attention over the next twenty four hours to the little things. The little I call them God winks to the children, when you just see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Psalm twenty seven thirteen. I encourage you, like I encourage my children, to look for those things that show us God's goodness. Maybe it's in just a little break, maybe it's in a conversation you have with a friend, maybe it's in the smile of your husband, or in the sweet smell of your baby as you hold them against you. Mama, you are in a very special season of life. I encourage you to embrace it, to walk in it with joy, to do all the things that you can, to live each day to the fullest because it truly, it truly is a gift. Thank you, Mama, for joining me tonight at midnight. If you are one who likes a homework project and likes to turn it in, feel free to look for God's blessings over the next 24 hours and feel free to comment what you found to be the blessings in your life right now in this season. You can also email me at Jessica at midlightpodcast.com if you would really like to share some of those blessings that you have found along the way over the next day or so. Mama, it's been a joy to spend time with you this evening. What an honor. I would like to leave you now with a blessing from number six, twenty four through twenty six. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace. Amen. I pray blessings over your evening, Mama, and I hope you get some good rest tonight. Until next time. Take care.
