Tonight we will talk about where we put our trust as Mamas.
I have a question for you, mamas. Where is your ultimate trust tonight? We're gonna talk about that tonight on Midlight Mamas. For tonight's episode, I want to jump right into Psalm 20 and verse 7 because I feel like it's so applicable to where we can be as mamas tonight. And it says, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. And this is actually a royal psalm. It's a prayer offered for the king of Israel before he would go out into battle. And the people are interceding for their king, asking God to protect him and answer him in the day of trouble and grant him a victory. You see, mamas, you might be thinking, what in the world does that have to do with my motherhood today? Well, let's unpack it and then we'll see if it has any place where it's applicable in your life today. So the core theme is this some trust in chariots, but we trust in the name of the Lord. This is a gentle invitation for us as mamas to look and see where our deepest security is actually resting. And this is in David's day. So chariots and horses then represented the strongest and most impressive human resources available. And people looked at military power and thought this will keep us safe. Today, our chariots and horses might look different, especially for us as mamas. So it could be that we look at what's gonna keep us safe as a husband's strength or provision or a doctor's reassurance or parenting methods or expert advice, financial security, or just the fact that our own ability could hold everything together for our homes. But the psalm isn't saying that these things are bad. It simply asks, where is your ultimate trust? When the chariot breaks or the horse stumbles, when the person or plan you've been leaning on fails, what remains now? So I want to talk about that with you tonight, mamas. Because the truth is we can put our trust in all sorts of places, and we might even unknowingly do it. Like we can put our trust maybe in our husbands to be strong or our doctors to have the answers and for our own hearts to stay steady, but when those things feel shaky and anxiety rises, where is the place that we should go to for ultimate trust? And I guess my question to you would be, what are the chariots in your own life, Mama? Maybe just ponder in that thought a little bit tonight, mamas. Because trusting the Lord doesn't mean that we stop receiving help from people. So even once you figure out your chariot, just remember that it means we stop demanding that people be our ultimate source of safety. Because God remains steady even when people are limited. So in the middle of the night, Mamas, when the house is quiet, worries sometimes can feel louder. This verse can become just a beautiful place to sit and rest and land. Because instead of rehearsing everything that could go wrong with the people we love, we can quietly say, I trust in the name of the Lord. Another verse found in Scripture that goes so well with this is Deuteronomy 31.8, and it says, It is the Lord who goes before you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. The Lord goes before you, Mama, and He will not leave you or forsake you. So no matter what comes your way, or what anxiety you feel or worry that comes upon your heart, you can give it back to the Lord because it says that He will not leave you or forsake you. So even in your places where you struggle to trust, know that God is not only with you in that place, but He will go before you. That is a wonderful promise from Scripture. And it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, and all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Another one that is so beautiful is Isaiah twenty-six three through four, and it says, You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Then there's Jeremiah seventeen, seven through eight that says, Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, it does not fear when heat comes. Psalm nine ten says, And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. Do you know why I share these additional verses about trust with you? I share them with you to prove to you that there are so many places in Scripture that show not only that we can trust in the Lord, but it talks about the people before us who put their trust in the Lord and how God did not fail them. Mamas, some will trust in chariots and some in horses, but I trust in the name of the Lord. Let's examine our chariots tonight, Mamas, and really get honest before the Lord where we have put our trust in. And then let's look at where our ultimate trust should be safely placed, which is in the name of the Lord, because He is the one who created the stars, he is the one who created the sun, he is the one who created your baby, and he created you, and he put you in this time and in this season of motherhood for a purpose and a reason, and he is not gonna fail you now. When we go back at Scripture and we read all the different places where different ones put their trust in him and he did not fail them, can we also believe that he would not fail us either? That is why I love Scripture, because we can go back to the Word and see the promises that God had given and the promises he kept, and how it impacted not only the lives of those that he was working with, but their generations that came up behind them. Their whole legacy was affected. And I guess the question would be in Scripture, which promises did God keep? He kept every single one of them. That's the kind of God that we have. So putting our trust in Him is the safest place to put it. So maybe you have concerns about your children, maybe you have concerns about your babies, maybe your marriage or your finances or your mindset, your emotions, your hormones. But here's the beautiful truth, Mama. The Lord is with you and he goes before you and he's never gonna forsake you. So put your trust there. So these concerns, these anxieties that are there, I'm gonna encourage you tonight to say, God, I'm not gonna place this worry on anything else. I'm gonna give it to you, and I'm gonna allow you to be the safe place for my trust for the future of this thing to go, and then give it to the Lord and rest. So tonight, Mamas, I want to leave you with a blessing from number six, twenty four through twenty six. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace. Amen. Until next time, Mamas, remember the Lord is so much better to trust in than any chariot or horse. We'll talk again soon. Take care, Mamas.
