Tonight we will talk about the real truth of who we are as mamas.

SPEAKER_00

Tonight I want to talk to you about the truth of who you are, Mama. We're gonna talk about that tonight on midnight. The other day I was driving with my daughter in the car and she said, We eat yogurt every morning for breakfast and we eat pizza every night for dinner. And I looked in the rearview mirror and I asked her, Is that truth? Do we actually eat yogurt every day and pizza every day? And she looked at me and said, Well, maybe not exactly. So I then reminded her that I just bought yogurt for the first time in two weeks, and we haven't had pizza in over a week. You see, we live in a town with a Papa Murphy's and they have specials on Tuesdays, and it's pretty much impossible not to drive through and pick up a pizza on Tuesdays for our family. So we usually have pizza on Tuesday night in our homes. But you see, mama, sometimes it's easy to start to believe that something is truth when it actually isn't. And I think that applies to us as mamas because I think we look at our lives and we think that we just aren't enough. We're not doing enough, we're taking too long, or somebody else could do it better. You see, mama, these are not truths that we might be thinking of ourselves. So tonight I want to encourage you with some truth from God's word, because I think it's important to recognize when things are not exactly truthful, kind of like the yogurt and pizza, and put it into perspective. Because I think that sometimes we can get stuck in thinking thoughts that may not actually be good for us because they aren't the truth. So tonight I want to tell you the truth about your identity as a mama. Number one, you are an image bearer of God to your family. Genesis 127 tells us that God created both male and female in his own image. Motherhood doesn't diminish that, it expresses it. When you comfort and you feed and you protect and nurture your little ones, you are reflecting something of the heart of God Himself. Your value was never earned by performance, it was given at creation. Number two, you are not alone and unseen, you are seen and known in the hidden places, Mama, because Psalm 139, verses 13 through 14 remind us that God knit each of us together in our own mother's womb. The same God who formed your children also formed you, and the long nights and those quiet sacrifices and the tears that no one else sees, he sees them all. Nothing about your mothering is invisible to him. Number three, when you start to think that what you're doing has no weight to it, it doesn't even matter. Remember this your role carries generational weight. Second Timothy one and verse five shows how faith can live first in a grandmother and then a mother and then a son. The everyday teaching, the whispered prayers, the consistent love use give shapes to the souls that will outlast you. And Deuteronomy 6 and 6 through 7 actually calls parents to impress God's word on their children. It says, When you sit at home and when you walk along the road, and when you lie down and when you get up. That is the truth. Because Isaiah 49, 15 asks, can a woman forget her nursing child? And then declares that even if she could, God will never forget his people. You see, Mama, you are fierce and tired preserving love. It's not small, it's one of the clearest earthly pictures that God chose to describe his own faithful heart. When you feel like you are not successful, remember this. Your worth is not measured by visible success. Proverbs 3130 says, Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. The praise that lasts is not for perfectly managed days or impressive accomplishments, it is for the quiet, steady fear of the Lord lived out in the ordinary work of just loving your babies and your children. And when you feel like you are not lovable or loved, remember this. You were already loved as a daughter before you were a mother. Your deepest identity is not mom, it is beloved child of God. Motherhood is a sacred calling layered on top of that unchanging truth. So when the days feel heavy and your sense of self feels lost, return here to this. You are held and known and treasured by the Father first. You see, mamas, it's easy to think that you eat yogurt every day for breakfast, and it's easy to think that you aren't doing enough. But then when the facts are on the table, when I told my daughter I bought that yogurt today, it's been two weeks, she couldn't argue it. When I read you the word and tell you that Jesus says this about you and this is how God feels about you, you can't argue it because the facts are on the table. So, mamas, this is who you are. This is the truth of who you are. You are these things that I shared with you tonight through God's word. Hold on to that, hold fast to it because it will help you in those moments when those fears and those untruths, that those thoughts, they just try to creep in. You can remember these things because this is truth. Always return to God's word because God's word is in fact truth. So tonight, mamas, I want to pray for you before we go. For those of you who are struggling with recognizing the truth of who you are as a mother and your identity, I'm gonna pray for you now. Lord Jesus, I lift up these mamas to you, God, and myself included. And Lord, I ask that you would help us to remember the truth of our identity as mamas according to your word. And God, that we would not get stuck in thoughts that aren't helpful and aren't true, but God, that we would say, mm-mm, that's not what God says about me. He says, I am deeply loved. I was created for a purpose, and that generations are being affected by my choices. God, I ask that we would be women who seek after you and who show our families the love that you have given us and that we will pour that out among those coming up below us. Thank you, God. In your name we pray, amen. Tonight, Mamas, I want to leave you with also a blessing from numbers 6, 24 through 26 before we go. And it is, may the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace. Amen. Until next time, mamas, remember the truth of who you really are. And we'll talk again soon. Take care.
