Tonight we will talk about how God’s faithfulness is great for you, Mama
Have you ever just stopped and thought about how great God's faithfulness is to you personally? We're going to talk about that tonight on Midlight Mamas. I have been blessed to see the Lord's faithful hand in my life personally over many years. And tonight I want to share with you just a wonderful verse from Scripture to lean into tonight. It comes from Lamentations chapter 3 and verse 22 through 24. And it says, The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore, I will hope in him. I can marinate in these verses for a while because I think that even I feel like God's faithfulness and his love for me could run out if I'm not good enough, if I make a mistake, or if I don't have the patience I need, or I just feel on empty. But the truth is the Lord's goodness isn't dependent on my performance, and it's not on yours either, Mama. God is faithful to us because that's who he is, it's his character, and he loves us enough to provide a fresh supply of mercy at the beginning of every day. That is its own faithfulness. And just like God created the sun to rise again tomorrow morning, he also offers us a fresh dose of that mercy because he knows we need it, and he loves us enough to give it to us. It's also there for us in the nighttime. He gives us the supply of everything that we need, even in those moments when we feel the most weary. You see, the Lord sees you, mama. He knows your struggles, he knows your tiredness, he knows the thoughts that you fight. And I think one of the most beautiful things I have learned over the last couple of years is this understanding that you don't have to come before the Lord in prayer perfect. You can bring the Lord your very thought, every thought, to Him in prayer. So let's say you're praying and your mind starts to drift and you start to forget even what you were praying about, or you start thinking about something else. Doesn't mean you have to start your prayer over. It means you bring those fresh thoughts to the Lord too. You say, God, my mind is wandering to this because this is what's really on my heart right now. And you can share it just like the psalmist does in the book of Psalms. We read so many places where you'll actually see a shift in the psalm where, like, they will start out lamenting and coming to the Lord because they are broken and because they are under attack. And then in the midst of their psalm, they will turn their heart to the Lord and cry out to Him and tell Him their thoughts, their concerns, their worries, and you'll see God answer them in those psalms. You see, Mama, we're no different. We are just living in 2026, but this is when God prepared for us to be here. And this is our own season and our own years, and we can come as honestly before the Lord with all the thoughts, with all the exhaustion, the worries, the concerns about everything from pacifiers to diapers to milk supply to finances to marriages, to even our own thoughts of our bodies. You see, the Lord, he can handle it because his faithfulness to us is so great and he loves us with an everlasting love. And I think it's really interesting when we break down this exact verses that we were talking about in Lamentations chapter 3, because verse 22, where he says, Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassion never fails. God's love never fails us, and he will not let his people be destroyed. His compassion, it does not run out for us. In verse 23, when it says, They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. His mercies and compassions are not left over from yesterday. They are freshly supplied every single morning, and his faithfulness is not small or occasional, it is great. In the middle of loss, this writer chooses to remember that God himself is enough. Portion means inheritance or a share, the thing that truly belongs to him, because the Lord is his portion, he can wait with hope. And this is the example we have from Jeremiah in the Book of Lamentations. It's just an interesting thing to think about that God is there for us in the middle of the night, that his mercy is new for us in the morning, his faithfulness is great, and he himself is enough to hold you while you wait in the middle of the night, in the middle of a season, in the middle of something hard that you're waiting to come out of. The Lord is the one who holds you. So tonight, Mamas, I want you to just think about it for a minute. Just the words, Great is thy faithfulness. And instead of thinking about it as some faraway idea that came from years and years ago, I want you to think about it in terms of your personal life and where you have seen God be so faithful. The hymn called Great is Thy Faithfulness was written by Thomas Chisholm in 1923, and it was directly inspired by this verse, and the chorus echoes it almost word for word. Great is thy faithfulness, great is thy faithfulness, morning by morning, new mercies I see. Mama, his mercy is new for you every morning, and he's with you in the night hours, and there's nothing that you can screw up so badly or mess up so much that his love for you would change or his mercy would not be there. So as a mama, if you feel like you would like to try again in whatever capacity that looks like, I just want you to know that the Lord is with you because he loves you. And just a reminder: when you were handpicked for this job, God knew there would be moments you would feel like you were failing. He knew there would be moments where you would feel weak and tired and broken. But the Lord knew that and chose you anyway, and his mercy is for you today and again tomorrow morning. I'd like to leave you with a blessing now from Numbers 6, 24 through 26. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you and give you peace. Amen. Until next time, Mamas. Remember, great is his faithfulness to you specifically, Mama. Until next time, take care, and we'll talk again soon.
