✨ Talk Blonde to Me ✨
Here we are. It's like rubber dub dub three babes in the child. That's the new name, I'm not.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna be the smart one tonight. I'm feeling it. I'm gonna be the smart blonde here tonight. Here we go. You are the smart one. Yeah, yeah, totally.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. Sassy, sexy, smart. Yes. All the above. Oh my goodness. Well, let's recap a little bit. Recap tonight. Yeah, you told me to recap. Recap. Okay. Well, we in all of our episodes, most all of them, we've talked about dating over 50. We've talked about phone dates, real dates. I mean, it's with a dating craze. Somebody you'd like to date. Somebody you, yeah, somebody you'd like to date. No? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Somebody sounds like to me. Right guy. Right guy. Right. And then um we moved into visualization, manifestation, prayer. Prayer. Yep, we've done all of that. Well too. Mindset. Mindset. Yeah. So in the meantime, we've had a flood of questions come in from you listeners, and it's been so fun to read those. So tonight we're going to do Ask Us Anything. And I want to be the one to ask you guys the questions. Is it like Jeopardy? It's kind of like Jeopardy. And but we're not going to do the song. I mean, we could and if we get it wrong, you'll go, yeah. I'm going to do that. Okay. Or if I think it's a bad answer. Yeah.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Good answer, ring the bell.
SPEAKER_02Okay. We got this. Oh my goodness. Okay. Do you what do you have anything you want to add or say before we get started?
SPEAKER_01It's just going to be very inspirational. Yeah. High knowledge and skill. And then I'll pipe in.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right, because Marilla is the high knowledge skill. Listen, you have so much experience in this tub. And you are all lucky to hear from us. Thank you for joining us. And thanks for being here. I'm so grateful that you guys invited me into this rub it up. Let's introduce Marilla.
SPEAKER_02You know, because we've had Marilla on before. Will you introduce Marilla?
SPEAKER_01Marilla and I, we live in St. George, Utah. We all three live here. But Marilla and I met on a talk, a radio talk show called Lady Logic. And she was the therapist and I was the trashy blonde. And we do not want to continue with that to have that happen. So that's how we think France. Oh and now we're friends. And she does.
SPEAKER_0015 years ago or something, huh? A long time ago. Yeah. I love it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We're so grateful you're here. Thank you for inviting me. You're the you're the Burnett that makes sense of the blonde.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm happy to help. Thank you. Yeah, that'll be good. Yeah. Okay. All right. So we're just gonna start. And they don't even know what I'm gonna ask them. These are just fun questions. All right. So the first one is how soon is too soon to stalk his ex's wife on Facebook? Like if you start dating someone, how soon is too soon to stalk the ex's wife on Facebook?
SPEAKER_00I don't think you should look that. I mean if you're interested, I think look it up if you can. So right away. Yeah, okay, why not? Unless, I mean, because you might scare yourself away. Yeah. You might want to get to know the guy first, but or just know.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Or maybe I think they want to see like what she looks like to maybe compare the comparison.
SPEAKER_01What do you think of him? I honestly, you guys have I've never stalked. It's kind of weird to me. Because I d I don't really think about it. Like I don't really go on. I don't remember ever stalking anybody. I love that. I because I think it's kind like I don't want them to stalk me, I don't think. So I've I mean, I really have never because women are really social media. You can look at anything, you can find anything. And I'm like, I don't really want to know because chances are she's smarter, prettier. I know, like, go back. I'm not stalking. I don't want to look at it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, that came in from Christy. So, Christy, if we didn't answer your question, what was our answer? Well, Ryan said it's never too soon.
SPEAKER_00If you want to do it, do it. Just get it out of the way. But I don't think you have to do it. There's no like you need to look at her. Okay, yeah. But if you want to, just do it.
SPEAKER_02All right, okay. Um, this question is from Carol. She said, if he leaves me on delivered or read, but watches all of my stories, what are we?
SPEAKER_00Ugh. I hate social media. It is so annoying. It's Ug. Is that the answer?
SPEAKER_02It's just Ug.
SPEAKER_01What do you think, Tab? I didn't even know that you knew it was delivered. I'm serious. I didn't know you could tell if it's delivered or red. Yeah, it says red or delivered. You didn't even know? I honestly I did not know, but I always thought if they don't respond to you, they kind of don't like you. Yeah. Why are we making it so hard? We have to analyze it. If they respond, they like you. If they don't, they don't. They don't. There's nothing you can do. Because men are really black and white.
SPEAKER_00I think they I I've heard two different sayings. One says, you know, if he could, or if if he wanted to, he would. But then other people say, like, don't think that, because that's not true, you know, sometimes. But I really feel like if if it's me and I'm interested, I'm gonna text you back right away. And so if somebody, I want to be gentle, right? But if somebody has mental health problems where they can't respond, is that the person you want to be in a relationship right now with? Or do you want to like give them some space, let them do their healing, and then you can join them later? That's a good one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I think the person that says, no, that's not right, you have to let them be, that's the girl that's not getting responded to.
SPEAKER_02Come on, man. Wow, because they're the ones that get the benefit of the doubt.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, is that what that is? Yes, and then they just keep waiting. When Mr. Awesome that would want to be in a relationship with you is right there. Yeah. You just can't find him because you're waiting for this guy that's not texting you back.
SPEAKER_02I've kind of been that girl who gives the benefit of the doubt, but no more. No more. Yes, she does. I'm not. I testify to that. I know. Okay.
SPEAKER_00All right. Next one. I mean, if that's like your husband, right? Like you're gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because you're already in that relationship. But a new relationship? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay. Should I trust a man whose profile picture is him holding a fish?
SPEAKER_00How big is the fish?
SPEAKER_01What do you think, Tam? I don't think that's about trust. You're gonna know that that person is outdoorsy, likes to fish. Yeah. You know who he is. I think that's kind of a great thing because you know, if you're not that type of woman, I don't think I'd be pursuing that. Yeah, if that's not what you like. Yeah. Yeah. I've got a girlfriend who, um, the boyfriend canyoneers, does really scary things to me. I would not be going up on ropes anywhere or coming down on ropes at my high heels. It was not work. She's doing it all. That's her person. Yeah. But that would scare the heck out of me. Yeah. So if you like fish, feed a man a fish.
SPEAKER_00He'll eat for a lifetime. I think somebody, I I don't know. I think somebody who's like holding a fish might be trustworthy because they're just like real, earthy, nature-y, but that would just be like reading a book by the cover, right? I'm just gonna think, oh, like he seems outdoorsy and he's probably in touch with nature and himself and cool.
SPEAKER_01In touch with himself.
SPEAKER_00Okay, let's go.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Is it a red flag if he says good morning, beautiful, to me and several other women? Stop it.
SPEAKER_01Stop right now. Yes. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02How do you know that he's saying that? How do you know, right? Yeah, yeah. Oh my gosh. You there's a dating, I'm not on that, but in Facebook, there's like, are we dating the same guy? You guess you could like find out in there, right?
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. If you are seriously though, like, why do you have to be on those apps? If I think you need to be more in touch with yourself that you know this kind of guy you're dating, which is tough too, because we all have drama and baggage, and so then it's hard to trust our intuition again. This all goes this could just go on, really. You need to like pause and just get grounded yourself so that why would you even be going out with a guy that you're like, I need to check this Facebook app if we're dating the same person?
SPEAKER_01That's like uh and who looks beautiful in the morning. I'm sorry, girls. I've seen both of you and I've seen myself.
SPEAKER_02Oh remember the other day we both walked into the kids and we're like, You look rough at the same time. Wish I was there. You gotta have a slumber party sometimes. Okay. How do I stop romancing potential? This is a good one. That is a good one. Yeah, who wants to start? How do I stop romancing potential?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna start. Okay. Being in business for 40 years. Yeah. I hate when someone comes to me with potential because they always let me down. They have such potential, but they never do anything. And so if you see one somebody with potential, but things just aren't working, they would be my friend. I don't want to date potential. I want to date who you are.
SPEAKER_00I love that. Yeah. Yeah, I like that too. You gotta know if you're looking for somebody to be your lifelong partner, eternal companion in this in this community, right? Like, I don't think I think that we're past dating potential. Yeah. We did that when we were 18 to 22. Yeah. And that 30, 40, 50, like, uh, I want to see who you are at this point.
SPEAKER_02Yes, but a lot of men are big talkers. So they're like, I've done this, I've done this, I've done that. And so you're waiting to see it, right?
SPEAKER_01Big talkers are ego. If you girls are listening to some guy, the minute you meet him and he starts to brag about everything he's done, everywhere he's been, what he has, look out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's great advice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, honestly. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I think that's insecurity speaking to you. They want you to see what they have. Um, I would rather see the person that works, has everything, and never brings it up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Don't tell me, show me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What is that saying that you always say?
SPEAKER_02Your actions are so loud. Your actions speak so loud. I can't hear you talking. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I love that. Okay. Um, how do you lovingly tell your friend her boyfriend is a walking red flag?
SPEAKER_00How long has your friend been dating this guy? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02This is a question that came in.
SPEAKER_01So I would say it kindly. Okay. Because because what happens is if I came to you, Jill, and I said, Oh, that guy is like a huge red flag, she's gonna defend him. Because that's what we do. So I would say, What do you think about him? Do you see any red flags? Is there anything a little off? And you nod your head.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Is there anything off? And then she's gonna go, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00A little bit.
SPEAKER_01A little bit, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Have you had experience with this?
SPEAKER_02Not with experience. I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_01Not with me. I tell you, if I tell you it's a red flag, you're gonna like him. So I gotta ask you with my head nodding up and down.
SPEAKER_00What red flags do you see in this? And you're shaking your head like this. Yeah. I think you also have to be careful too, because it's your friend, and if you say, Wow, this guy has a lot of red flags, and then she still keeps dating him, now that's gonna create conflict between you and your friend, yeah, and then you and that guy. So um, I think you you have to say it kindly too, of like, just seems like there's some red flags. And and you could say, you know, like when he was just bragging about himself to you. Yeah, that seems kind of like a red flag.
SPEAKER_01Like what do you think, Tao? You know, some those doesn't. I'm just laughing because what I've learned now in my 60s is this it doesn't you're gonna do what you're gonna do, and you're gonna do what you're gonna do. And I am wasting time telling you there's a big red flag. I can ask you, what do you think, but you're still gonna do what you're gonna do. Because I try telling the old and she doesn't do one damn thing, I tell her.
SPEAKER_02It is very logical. It takes me a while. It takes me a while to catch on. I'm like, why did you let me go that long?
SPEAKER_00Because butterflies and that infatuation and the beginning of relationships are it's intoxicating. It's it becomes an addiction, right? Like those endorphins and all the emotions that we're feeling, like it's hard to ignore it. It just feels so good. So we ignore a lot of red flags because of that.
SPEAKER_02And if they have a lot of ups and downs, like if they have mental health issues or something, it's like it you get used to the dopamine hit, right? Yeah. Dopamine hit, share with them what that is. Gill, share with them. Yeah. Well, it's just you get addicted to the ups and the downs, and they're either really, really, really good or it's really, really, really bad. And your nervous system gets addicted to that. Woof, the roller coaster ride. And without it, you're so flat. Well, you're flat and your body um craves it. Like it's almost like I was telling you, Tam, it's like it was almost like a spell that was put over me. It was just my nervous system wanted to gravitate before be, you know, towards that person, even though I'm like, whoof, I can't go towards that person.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know what we should talk about sometime? Attachment styles.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Well, there's a question there's a question about that. Oh, let's just move to that one quick. Okay. Can you actually heal attachment styles?
SPEAKER_00Yes, because like so. When we're talking about um the a dopamine hit, right? There's there's three specific ones, but people have gone into different attachment styles, and there's some great books. There's one that's called attached, there's one that's called healing the attachment wounds. So there's some good books we could like in, put them in there, you know, put them in the feed the child or whatever. You got it. Um, but anxious, avoidant, and then secure. And oftentimes an anxious, attach anxiously attached person who who maybe grew up in a chaotic family and was just used to this anxiety and chaos, they're gonna be attracted to somebody who's avoidant attachment because they're just like they seem really calm, they seem really grounded, but actually they're just kind of unavailable. But they like they gravitate towards each other because the avoidant wants the anxious, the chaotic, like it's fun, it looks exciting. And then the the avoidant, or you know, then the other one, they just like they gravitate towards each other. Um, and so we we want to heal that, and we can if we're willing to take a look at ourselves, to be honest with each other, and and to to talk about the hurt and to talk about maybe where this came from. And there's good therapists out there to help people through that, but um that's gonna give you a dopamine hit, right? For somebody who's an avoidant attachment style person, anytime this chaotic, anxious person comes to them, they're like, oh, they love me, oh, they want me, and it gives me like this hit of like, oh, I'm wanted and I'm needed, and um, it feels good. So we gotta heal that. We gotta heal the nervous system. But it can be healed, okay. We can work through it, yeah. Um, and we can get to a place where we're more secure. In fact, plan on that, especially in our 40s and 50s and 60s. If we're dating, you're gonna have people who come with baggage and it can't be healed. Right. Okay.
SPEAKER_01But some baggage is sampsonite. Top of the line.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. What kind of baggage is that? Maybe children or things like that.
SPEAKER_01You know, somebody might tell you, I really care about you, but you have baggage, your children. And the response is top of the line, Samsonite. Nowadays, Louis Vuitton. There you go. There you go. You have Louis Vuitton.
SPEAKER_02I love that. Kids.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I love that. Okay. Okay. All right. So the next one is can people really change? So the answer is yes. Yeah, they can. Yeah. And do they? I mean, like, if I'm like, if I'm dating someone or you're married to someone, and you're like, because you're you're attached to their potential a lot of times, right? Because you know that they could be better. But you're like, they just need to change. And I love Mel Robbins. Like, she's like, let them be and she's she's adamant that people don't really change. They kind of are who they are. But with you being a therapist, you've seen it.
SPEAKER_00You've seen it.
SPEAKER_02I've seen people change.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I would not go into a relationship hoping that somebody would change, though. Right. I think if you go into a relationship with somebody, expect that that's who you're getting. Plan on that. Now, if you've been in a relationship for 10 years and you're like, I can't do this anymore, and something's got to change. Well, first of all, you need to take a look at what your part is in that cycle, in that process. Because if one person changes, the dynamics have to change. But the other person is going to try to get you to continue to react the way you've always reacted because that's what's familiar. The the how to get the other person to change is you being consistent and saying, like, I'm not doing this anymore. And they will either come along or they'll leave.
SPEAKER_01I like the saying, this might work for you, but it's not working for me any longer. Because that's a real true statement. What else are you going to say? But I women come and they're like, I think he can change. And my response is, are you going to change? Because we never think we have anything to change. And that's a real, that is a real relationship question. If you want someone to change, you might not be in the right relationship.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would not get in a relationship with them in the first place. But if you're already in that relationship, then people can be helped. People can change. I love that. Okay.
SPEAKER_02All right. Next one is what's the healthiest way to move on after heartbreak? Pause. Pause.
SPEAKER_01How long?
SPEAKER_00How long? I would not give somebody a time. I would say, trust yourself. I always tell people in therapy, I don't want you to trust me. I want you to trust you. And if you feel like you can trust me, then trust me. But I want you to get back in touch with yourself if you've ever been, right? We have been, because we were all kids at one point and we just were carefree and we knew what we wanted and we just had fun. We were light. So getting back to that place, pause. It might be three months, it might be three years. Some therapists will tell you, like, it's a year for every three years you are married, you need to wait this long. I would don't have a time frame. I just say, I want you to be intentional about the break, about the pause, and taking time for yourself and getting re-grounded. And then when you're ready, when you feel like you're ready, let's talk. And then you're gonna be intentional about your dating. And you have you know what you want, you know what you're looking for in a partner, and you're not gonna look for potential, you're finding the partner that fits you.
SPEAKER_02And what are some things that someone could be doing during that time of healing? Like, because it says, What's the healthiest way to move on? So so like you laugh. Why are you laughing? Tell us.
SPEAKER_01I'm only laughing because I heard this one day. Someone giving someone advice.
SPEAKER_02Why is she always? It's always directed to me. What the heck? Okay, and what are you gonna say?
SPEAKER_01But it's it's a saying, and this is just a joke, it is not serious. The advice they gave her was the best way to get over someone is to get under them. And I thought, well, there you go. But seriously, let me just share something.
SPEAKER_02And I haven't. It was the advice given to me, and I haven't. We have laughed about it.
SPEAKER_01So if you're free to do that.
SPEAKER_00That is gonna attach you to them. It's just attached to them. Get under somebody else. Yeah, yeah. Okay, under somebody else. When you need to get over someone is to get under somebody else. That's that does help people. They're talking about it. It's not the healthiest way, though. That is not the healthiest way. I'm not saying that's healthy. I'm just saying people do it and it works. Just not healthy.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, but you know what? This is what I think. If you were in a relationship and you really loved someone. You're not gonna I don't get women that I'm talking to women that jump into another relationship because you should still sit and think on that relationship you had, not jump into who's next, who's next. And I have friends that do that. I don't think it's healthy. I think you need to really appreciate and respect that. And I love our friend Julie Beebe. Oh yeah. And she is like, I'm gonna have every holiday. I want to see what they're like with every holiday. And I think that's a great thing. Going through the year, not rushing in seasons, yeah, and doing all of that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. People say that's healthy too. Though I I don't say you have to. But it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Don't you want to know what kind of gift they're gonna give you? I don't want a cheap gift. I'm not getting a cheap birthday gift. I'm not doing it, girls. Yeah, I'm gonna go. Christmas, you better lay it on me. And birthdays? All I'm telling you big. Okay. Groundhog day. Don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_02You don't need to send Tam a gift for Groundhog Day. Just so you know. Okay, let's wrap up with this question. Um, and then you guys send it. I we have more, but send in some more, but we'll go over that in a minute. Okay. Why do boundaries feel so uncomfortable at first?
SPEAKER_00Because it's not familiar. We are we get in our comfort zone, that's where we want to be, and boundaries aren't familiar, so it's uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_02Well, and I think too, coming from a dating perspective, you're like, oh, if I set this boundary, are they gonna like me or are they not? However, then the boundary gets crossed. Like you're not setting that boundary. You guys, and then you can't go back.
SPEAKER_01It's hard to go back, right? This question has totally baffled me of all the questions. Because I don't even know what a boundary would mean in dating someone. Like I'm listening to you guys and I'm like, what does that even look like? I'm yellow. What does a boundary even look like? Well, I mean, share with me because I'm I don't know the answer.
SPEAKER_00Some people like set a boundary and say, I'm setting a boundary with you, and this is my boundary.
SPEAKER_01Well, what is it like? You can't sleep over for three nights in a row. What is the boundary?
SPEAKER_00That could be a boundary. A boundary could be like, don't yell at me, don't talk to me like that. That's a good one. Okay. Boundary could be uh, you know, you have to spend a thousand dollars on me for my birthday. Oh that could be a boundary for you. And if you don't, then I'm not okay with you. But um I really think the way to have boundaries is just to live it. To know who you are and know what you're worth, and then get that. Because everybody's are different.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I love that. Yeah, that's a good boundary question. I know, for sure. I my family doesn't have my kids, don't have it. We don't have boundaries.
SPEAKER_02Well, I haven't either, but it's burnt me in the past, for sure. I just in the last six months have learned how to set boundaries and how to yeah, it's been interesting. It's been an emotional roller coaster, but it's been so good. Yeah. Hold on. Hold on, we're going on. That's right. I hope you guys have loved the the questions and the answers to yes. Super, super fun. Okay, so next time we do something like this, I want you guys to send in more questions. We want to do like anonymous confessions or like red flag stories. Send us in some of your red flag stories, some of your dating stories. We just want to laugh, right? We want to know how to go through. We need fun in the tub. Yeah, we need some fun in the tub. So next time we do this, it's gonna be talk called Tub Talk Confessions. Oh, that'll be good. Yeah, let's do that. So fun that's gonna be fun. And then we're gonna break down your dating story and your red flag stories, and we'll kind of just break them down for you. So that will be super fun.
SPEAKER_01Well, let's close with a good story. Yeah, let's do that. Let's really close with a good romantic story. Okay. And I I think we'd throw that to our friend Jillie B. Yeah. And Brad. I love that. We have these friends, you guys, and they are got both divorced. Yeah. And they are perfect. They are perfect for each other. They're funny. Yeah. They're funny together, and I want everybody to have that. Yeah. I want everybody to have a relationship where you can be open and have fun and travel and if that's what you want.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Some people like to stay at home and watch movies.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it's so weird, right? Yeah. But some people like find a partner that likes to stay at home and watch movies with you. That's great. But I prefer the travel and fun stuff.
SPEAKER_01And if you do travel, a trip from our friend Jill B. Yeah. Jilly B is when you take your suitcase out of your car, pull it into your house instead of dragging it down the street on the way to the Washington accent. Just like under her car.
SPEAKER_02And she never found it, and all of her expensive clothes in it. Oh no. And you don't know what's here in St. George. If you found Jilly's suitcase, just let us know. Violence on the east side. Yeah. It's Jilly B. Let us know. There was some really expensive stuff in us.
SPEAKER_01And she would like it back.

SPEAKER_02Well, thank you for being here tonight. Do you have any words? Last words of wisdom?
