Mind Twin Movie Night
A podcast where two best friends, Mariko and JD, are often so in sync that they began referring to one another as "Mind Twins". They quickly realized that they are huge fans of movies (specifically Horror movies).
For years now, every Thursday night, the "Mind Twins" watch movies. Alternating on who picks the movie on a weekly basis, this duo decided to start a movie podcast. When they watch a movie. They talk. A lot. The Mind Twins decided to quarantine their commentary away from their loved ones in their lives and channel them in a podcast.
We watch a movie, record our reactions during the movie, cut that into our discussion and then talk about our thoughts on the movies. Come join us as we talk about movies we love, movies we didn't quite love, and everything in between.

For years now, every Thursday, two best friends who find themselves often so in sync they've dubbed the phenomena "Mind Twins" watch movies. Alternating on who picks the movie on a weekly basis, this duo continues on their quest to enthuse about movies in their rambling and unfocused podcast. Because why not?
This Movie Night JD shows Mariko a classic, When Harry Met Sally... (1989) from Rob Reiner! Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) and Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) meet in 1977 as they graduate college and join up on a road trip from Chicago to New York City. They don't quite hit it off and end their trip with Harry's assertion that men and women can never be friends. Yet throughout the years they would keep meeting and the two would find themselves intertwined in a growing relationship.

Yeah, uh for going over it, so we should probably say the name of the podcast when we do it, and we're like and then we'll go over that. Now I might not edit me saying we should do this out because I think it's funny, but I don't think that that's a good idea. But yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_12Just people you watch on YouTube and they're like, oh, let's just talk about what we're going to do in the thing.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, they usually have an introduction of shorts.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, they usually do that, and they don't usually explain that they're about to do that and that they should do it.
SPEAKER_04Hey, let's do our introduction now. Yeah, okay, that sounds good.
SPEAKER_12Oh, you're sick.
SPEAKER_04No, just a dry throat. Just got the black lung. Ah cut the black lung, Pop. It's not ventilated down there. Merriman. Merman.
SPEAKER_07You just have Christopher Walken looking at you all disappointed in your life. I always do. That's just me every day when I look in the mirror.
SPEAKER_12Every day I look in the mirror. Christopher Walken looking back at me, just disappointed. And you're like, me too, Chris. Me too.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_12That's how that was cool. There's a lot wrong with what just happened there. But uh welcome to the movie. No, it's the mind twin movie night. That was the name we stuck with last time. And we're sticking to it. Mind twin movie night. It's a podcast where two mind twins.
SPEAKER_07You just say two mind twins. Twins already implies there's two.
SPEAKER_12Well, two yeah, two. Oh, wait. Yeah. One mind twins. See, now I feel like a stupid person.
SPEAKER_06We're mind twins.
SPEAKER_12And we movie night.
SPEAKER_06Do the movie nights.
SPEAKER_12So we watch a movie, it happens at us. Then I edit that up in little bits. And then we at you with the sounds of us at the movies.
SPEAKER_07That's our gift to the k community.
SPEAKER_12Articulation is my skill. Uh yeah, well, we've been friends for too many years.
SPEAKER_07Uh seventh year. This will be the seventh year.
SPEAKER_12Uh yeah, you said six years last time we talked about it. And so seventh year.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. It's a long time.
SPEAKER_12I know. You've seen me change so much.
SPEAKER_07So much growth.
SPEAKER_12So much personal growth.
SPEAKER_07I really become I was such a young woman back then.
SPEAKER_12Wait, who you were me?
unknownMe.
SPEAKER_12Oh, okay. I was a young woman too back then. Things have changed.
SPEAKER_07So many things have changed about me.
SPEAKER_12Not that that's funny. I'm not making a joke about that. Uh yeah, so we've been friends for a while and now we when we've been doing movie nights for two, three years. Two years? Three years?
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Um it's been a grand old time.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. I think it's been two and a half years-ish. Because we started in like August of 24? 24. Yeah. Yeah. That sounds about right.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_12I think.
SPEAKER_06Long enough.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, it's been a while. And uh we watch movies on Thursday nights, uh, but you won't listen to these episodes on Thursday nights. So it doesn't matter. And uh we watch usually horror movies, but sometimes we do other things. And for the next actually four episodes, we you would not even know we like horror movies. Actually, from the first episode you wouldn't know that either, because we watch WishiPon.
SPEAKER_06Not really a horror movie?
SPEAKER_12No, but we do dig on multiverse. Wait. You dig on multiverses?
SPEAKER_07Slept for wontons.
SPEAKER_12That's just true, yes. Who isn't though? And now we just watch movies. But for the movie tonight, I'm going to be showing you you being Mariko. Oh, we didn't even introduce ourselves. My name's JD. I'm Mariko. That's it. That's all you need to know. Uh we're two people.
SPEAKER_07We should probably actually write an introduction sometime.
SPEAKER_12Should we write one? Because I I feel like I've never written one before for my podcast.
SPEAKER_04Uh maybe well, maybe we should have a guess that one.
SPEAKER_12I'm JD. I have long blonde hair, alabaster clothes on, and uh piercing deep purple eyes. Same.
SPEAKER_07Hence the twin part.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. We came out of the same womb of different mothers. Yeah, everything's wrong. This is why maybe we should write something. You're right.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think we should we should make we should write one sometime.
SPEAKER_12Ah chaos is fun. But yeah, we uh we uh uh my name's JD and I like movies and horror movies in particular, but also rom-coms, and that's what we're going to be doing. And who are you, new person?
SPEAKER_07I I am Monico. I also love horror movies, but I just love movies in general as well, although not too big into rom-coms. This is new territory for me.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Of the two of us, I'm the one who watches rom-coms and sobs and eats with too much.
SPEAKER_07I'm not uh I'm not a I'm not a chickfoot kind of gal, but that's okay. I'm looking forward to uh to when Harry met Sally.
SPEAKER_12Yes. Uh so tonight, uh for this one, I uh we go back and forth on picking movies. Uh episode one, I also picked it, but that wasn't in order, so don't think I'm being a tyrant. But for episode two, we're watching uh When Harry Met Sally, which is a classic. Mariko, you said that this was a you were talking about your hole earlier.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, this is a movie hole for mine, and I'm looking forward to it being filled.
SPEAKER_12I'm going to fill your movie hole. Oh I do love Billy Crystal. Who doesn't? Uh we also just watched some In City Slickers. In City Slickers, yeah.
SPEAKER_07I think that's that's probably my favorite Billy Crystal movie.
SPEAKER_12I think it other than when Harry met Sally, I think that is now too mine. I think they're both tied. So good. It's so good. Uh for the audience, if you exist, uh watch when uh Harry Met Sally, but also watch City Slickers. It's great.
SPEAKER_07It's a good one.
SPEAKER_12It'll make you really committed to the life of these cows.
SPEAKER_07Norman! I I had a dream. Super quick. I had a dream um where I was tracking this deer. And by tracking, I mean like satellite dish kind of tracking, like on a on a screen. Like I'm just I'm tracking this deer, and I and his name is Norman, and then Norman gets hit by a train. And uh, and I went, Norman! And then I woke up. That's horrible! Norman got decapitated, it was a whole thing.
unknownNo!
SPEAKER_07I was very upset.
SPEAKER_12Okay, so Norman's the baby cow in the movie.
SPEAKER_07In my dream he was he was the deer.
SPEAKER_12Oh, he's a deer now.
SPEAKER_07In my dream, he was uh, yeah, and apparently his name was Norman.
SPEAKER_12Oh, I thought you were tracking a deer, and also you just saw Norman get decapitated.
SPEAKER_07No, I was tracking a deer of which his name is Norman. Oh. He gets hit by a train and decapitated, and I'm very upset.
SPEAKER_12I really derailed the whole dream. Uh that would be an inappropriate place for a laugh track. Uh well, uh yeah, so we should probably set the movie because we record these, like I said, on Thursday nights, and it's a school night, everyone.
SPEAKER_15So you know you may be the first attractive woman I've not worn to sleep with in my entire life.
SPEAKER_08That's wonderful, Harry.
SPEAKER_11That's wonderful, Harry.
SPEAKER_08Wonderful, yeah.
SPEAKER_14I made it.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I think so. I need constant adoration of a constant look like a little flower.
SPEAKER_04That's a good point.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. How about you? I think I'm low maintenance. Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_07I've always liked Billy Crystal's smile. I always thought he had a lovely smile, very warm. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. It doesn't even matter the movie.
SPEAKER_12I don't even think there's a movie I don't. Like uh Is there a movie where he plays a not good person? Um I always feel affirmed by Billy Crystal.
SPEAKER_07Like I said I can't think of one. Not that I've seen a you know shit ton of Billy Crystal movies.
SPEAKER_12Well, yeah, Sari Matteley. He's in the Princess Bride.
SPEAKER_04He is, yeah.
SPEAKER_12Oh my god, wait, these are all Rob Reiner movies.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Ah Monsters Inc.
SPEAKER_07If you want to count that.
SPEAKER_12Is Monsters Inc. uh Rob Reiner though?
SPEAKER_07No, but I'm just naming Billy Crystal movies.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_12He has a very distinct voice. So Yeah. Of course, a creative voice actor.
SPEAKER_15When did I say that?
SPEAKER_09On the ride to New York.
SPEAKER_15No, no, no, no. I never said that.
SPEAKER_07Billy Crystal movies. Oh, though uh he was on um with uh Oh my god, I'm just toy it.
SPEAKER_13Thanking.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Throw mama from a train. It has Billy Crystal and Why Can I Remember's name? From Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
SPEAKER_12Um and Hercules. Oh, um, yeah. Um alluded to Oh my gosh. Danny DeVito. Danny DeVito, damn it. I kept thinking Frank. I'm like, he's not Frank. He's not Frank.
SPEAKER_07I kept I'm like, Daniel. I'm like, nope, not Daniel, but I'm really close.
SPEAKER_12That's the first thing I got.
SPEAKER_07Uh throw Mama from a train, which I didn't like, but my brother used to watch all the time.
SPEAKER_12I don't think I've seen that.
SPEAKER_07And he was in Analyze That. But I don't think he played any bad people in those movies.
SPEAKER_12He's very likable, so that makes sense.
SPEAKER_07He's so likable.
SPEAKER_00You enjoy being with her? Yeah. You find her attractive?
SPEAKER_15Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You're not sleeping with her.
SPEAKER_15No.
SPEAKER_00You're afraid to let yourself be happy.
SPEAKER_15Why can't you give me credit for this? This is a big thing for me. I never had a relationship with a woman that didn't involve sex. I feel like I'm growing.
SPEAKER_00You finished?
SPEAKER_15Hey, I got a whole stack of quarters and I was here first. Was two? Was two?
SPEAKER_00Here.
SPEAKER_15Where was I? Yeah. It's very free.
SPEAKER_12Uh what's the plot of when Harry met Sally? Trash.
SPEAKER_02I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_04I liked it a lot. It was really good.
SPEAKER_07What was the plot?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Sally and Harry are polar opposites. They first meet when they leave college. They don't like each other. They meet again five years later, but still don't really like each other. They meet again. I think another five years later. Wasn't it fives?
SPEAKER_12Yeah, it was five and five. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07They meet again. Uh this time as single people. He's divorced. She just broke up with her boyfriend. And now they've decided to be friends. And they and they slowly fall in love. That's the plot of the movie. And it's about them building the foundation of their relationship.
SPEAKER_12And being annoying and not just going for it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Not you know, not speaking their minds or how they feel.
SPEAKER_07That would be dope if they did, although it wouldn't be as interesting of a movie and be much shorter.
SPEAKER_12This movie is the quintessential rom-com movie. It is It's so cute. It is what every rom-com movie tries to be, I feel like, where they try to do that again.
SPEAKER_07I really liked it. It's adorable.
SPEAKER_12You know what? It's like the Dracula of rom-coms. Like it influenced the genre. Everyone knows it, even if you haven't seen it.
SPEAKER_03I've sailed oceans of time.
SPEAKER_12It's like, damn it, I can't hate you when you say things to me like that.
SPEAKER_04Welcome to my home.
SPEAKER_13You can never be friends with mortals.
SPEAKER_15Men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
SPEAKER_07That's not true. Harry, where'd you hear this accent at? Just came out of nowhere. I didn't have that five years ago.
SPEAKER_13I will drive all night to New York. I do not sleep at night. I just spend the night wondering how long I have to hold her. Is that 30 seconds?
SPEAKER_09That's what you're thinking. Is that true? True.
SPEAKER_15Woman think that. How long do you like to be held there afterwards? All night, right? See now it's the problem. Somewhere between 30 seconds and all night is your problem.
SPEAKER_13He's on the plane with her. See me.
SPEAKER_06See me. She's like, stop breathing in my ear, okay?
SPEAKER_13You're sitting right behind me. You want us to switch seats? Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, you figured the picture.
SPEAKER_13That would be wonderful. No, don't do this.
SPEAKER_03Tell me, stranger.
SPEAKER_13You have a bloody maddie in this plane. Okay, we're making a whole different movie. I don't know what's happening anymore.
SPEAKER_12Dracula met Sally.
SPEAKER_04When Dracula met Sally. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_12Okay, this happens when we stay up till midnight. It just makes a different movie. Oh my gosh. Um, yeah, so uh is it quite a social movie? I honestly it's hard to think of things to talk about with it though, because it's so much movie. But what what are some of your other thoughts? Hit hit me with them.
SPEAKER_06I just thought it was so cute.
SPEAKER_07Um It did a good job at showing growth. When you first meet them, I or at least when I first see them, I don't like either of them. I'm like, ah dude, people are annoying. As most, you know, high schooly or nude ecology people are.
SPEAKER_15Because when you first uh meet them because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
SPEAKER_01So you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
SPEAKER_15No, you pretty much want to nail them too.
SPEAKER_01What if they don't want to have sex with you?
SPEAKER_15Doesn't matter. Because the sex thing is already out there, so the friendship is ultimately doomed, and that is the end of the story.
SPEAKER_08Well, I guess we're not gonna be friends then.
SPEAKER_15Guess not.
SPEAKER_04I gotta say, uh, they both kind of suck.
SPEAKER_12Oh yeah, yeah. Um their characters are growers, not showers.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah. They're growers, not showers.
SPEAKER_07If they became a couple, it wouldn't have worked just because of their personality. So by the time that they become friends, they've already grown as people. And then they grow together. Which is nice. It's nice to to see the growth, because you don't really you don't see those too often. It's usually just love at first sight, some dramatic crap has to happen, and then they and but they don't even know each other. And then they fall in love, and that's the end. But this one you actually kind of see them grow together and they get to know each other, and it's a slow process that when they finally get to the same place and they get three, then they get married three months later.
SPEAKER_12It's also really, I will say it v like kind of uh surprisingly healthy for 1989 rom-com.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Because uh I feel like, you know, we're about to have American Pie, and I I really like that choice. Uh those things, and it's really nice because he's not he he does do the flippant lines a lot. Uh but you can tell it's just his character being deflective. But then like he's growing, and then you see him be like more and more just accepting and like kind of willing to own when he's being a jerk, or then just being sweet too and supportive. And I was like, oh that's why. Especially my favorite part that made me cry when they were talking. Well, not my favorite, there's a few favorite parts, but when they're when uh when they get in a fight outside and they start attacking her, saying she's never uh why isn't she just have like sex with someone else to you know get over her guy? Uh they both kind of snipe at each other about how they're handling their grief about their last relationships, and then they both apologize, and it's so sweet.
SPEAKER_15I don't have to take this crap from. If you're so over Joe, why aren't you seeing anyone?
SPEAKER_09I see people!
SPEAKER_15See people. Have you slept with one person since you broke up with Joe?
SPEAKER_09What the hell does that have to do with anything? That will prove I'm over Joe because I fuck somebody.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_09Harry, you're gonna have to move back to New Jersey because you slept with everybody in New York, and I don't see that turning Helen into a fate memory for you. Besides, I will make love to somebody when it is making love, not the way you do it, like you're out for revenge or something.
SPEAKER_15Are you finished now? Can I say something?
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_07It's so swe and you don't see I mean you don't see in real life, let alone movies. Right. So often conflict being handled in the uh or at least uh, you know, uh in terms of apologies or an actual apology even happening. You don't see those too often examples of those in either movie but also real life. So it's nice. And usually at that because you can kind of see her prepare, because he says, Are you finished? And you can kind of see her start kind of building a defense up because she's expecting him to have another snippy remark because that's what his character does.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Just for him to say, I'm sorry. I'm like, oh, that's so nice. She was ready for like a like another blow and it didn't happen. Oh, that's so sweet. Oh, that's a good way to put it. Yeah. But he also apologizes when they first start talking again when they when they meet up again for the third time.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, uh the what's it called? Walking, and he's he's saying, is there a um oh what'd he say?
SPEAKER_07The uh stat statutes of limitations for apologies.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_07Which is I mean, it's it's a smart aleck remark, but it's his way of apologizing.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, he didn't keep sniping at her after that or anything, and also I honestly think he was very charming in that scene where he then uh played it off really well. Physical just made it under. I'm like, oh, look at that.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. So you know, a lot of growth in both characters by the same thing.
SPEAKER_12You have a long way to go, I will say that. Like she did too, but he was he was like, Oh, I get to I hang out with her and I view her as a person. Isn't that crazy?
SPEAKER_07I isn't that wild. Women are people too.
SPEAKER_12When I take sex out of the equation, I don't have to lie to her. And I'm like, I don't think you ever have to lie to anyone you were sleeping with, man. I don't think you have friends. Uh the movie only confirms that he has two. Sally and um the yeah. That's it.
SPEAKER_06Do you have friends? Do you not know how friendships work?
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Um it does do that thing that I do fear in real life where the ex sees you and then they Approach with their new person.
SPEAKER_07Have you ever had that happen to you in real life?
SPEAKER_12Not with the Yaxter, kind of. This was I told you about this. This was at the co-op.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. I I I won't say name. Uh but I um I saw her there, and she doesn't even live like in this area. So I was surprised by that. And um I kind of ducked down and hid behind the uh salad.
SPEAKER_07So she never actually approached you though.
SPEAKER_12She didn't approach me. I thought she I thought she was looking my way. So uh the person I was with at the time who's shopping with me said, Oh, I think she saw you, but she's not coming over. So I part of me thinks she saw me for a split second and then like darted.
SPEAKER_07The person that you were with didn't hide with you? Because that's like a part of the fun.
SPEAKER_11I wish that well, yeah, clearly, like, yeah, that would have been amazing.
SPEAKER_07That would have been really fun. She's got a drilling. What are we doing?
SPEAKER_03I don't know what we're doing, but just here for moral support. Who would we be hiding from? That girl over there. Oh, okay. Yeah, let's go over this way.
SPEAKER_12Operation Nighthawk now. Let's get out of here.
SPEAKER_03We can even do like the over-exaggerated tiptoe.
SPEAKER_13Oh, that'd be awesome.
SPEAKER_03And you go, shh. And then you go back.
SPEAKER_12Got a good leg workout too. It's a little uh little squat. Just gonna go and hide behind the vitamins quick. Uh burns. Yeah, so I that's the closest I got to it, but it wasn't they didn't approach me, luckily.
SPEAKER_07Oh, okay. That's good.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I didn't have the you look well thing because Well, do you look swell?
SPEAKER_07And he said, You look like you have a face of girls.
SPEAKER_04Excuse me.
SPEAKER_06Um I mean, yes.
SPEAKER_11Well, right? Well kind of one?
SPEAKER_07Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He didn't have like a girlfriend with him, though.
SPEAKER_11No, that's not like I didn't know him.
SPEAKER_07I was I was the girlfriend.
SPEAKER_06That's the worst part. Oh no. Oh wait, I approached him. I it was me. It was me though all along in the gym.
SPEAKER_11You were the one.
SPEAKER_07I was the one. I approached him because I'm like, if I don't say something, that's gonna be weird. And turns out I made it worse. I should have said nothing. I should have ignored him.
SPEAKER_12Um I will say that makes some sense. So for the listener who's now listening, I don't know if I'm keeping this in. Uh if you want me to cut out.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I can keep it in.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, let everybody know. I was the fucking weirdo at the gym.
SPEAKER_12Well, okay, you have reason. So uh you were at the gym and you ran into an ex there, and I think you folks had just broke up like a few weeks ago.
SPEAKER_07Well, we didn't we weren't official. He wasn't my boyfriend.
SPEAKER_12Oh, okay. It's just like it's okay. I think we dated.
SPEAKER_07We went on dates, and then he decided he wanted to get back together with his ex.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_07Um, I said, okay, good luck. So so it wasn't like a, you know, it's not like we dated a long time. I never called him my boyfriend. He didn't call me his girlfriend.
SPEAKER_12And now they you did call him girlfriend. He was with someone else.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Yep. All y'all squeakaroo. Um and um, you know, that he was dating someone else, clearly. He he dumped me for them. So I'm just like, I don't know, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. So um I joined the new gym, did not realize it was his gym because the gym was closer to my place, not his. So I wouldn't even have anticipated that. But there he is. And there was eye contact, and so I'm like, I should say hi. Like, I don't want a full-blown conversation, but like I'll be nice about it. So I went up to him and I'm like, hi. And then he was like, not doing his absolute best not to look at me and just like, hi. Have you how have you been? Good. And I'm like, hey. And then it was just really awkward, and I was hoping he would reciprocate said conversation, because then I feel more it's more comfortable to disengage after an engagement. But instead, there was only engagement in the conversation from my side. And him not reciprocating and me just kind of standing there, and I'm like, Well, this is awkward, so I'm gonna go. And then I left uh the gym. Like, I just got called because I'm like, I don't want to be in this fucking place. Um he wins the battle. It's fine, he can win this one. And then I went back to the gym because it's still my gym. And I so I saw him again a couple weeks later, and this time I'm I learned my lesson. I'm not gonna say shit. So, but this time he approached me. And he was nice. He said hi, and I said hi, how are you? Oh good, how are you? Oh good, you still dating that guy? Nope, I'm not. You still dating that girl? No. Ah man, it sucks. I started to hear that, and I'm like, You see this? This is how a convers this is how a conversation works.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, yeah. Uh although, yeah, you got to be the one to be like, oh, well, yes, you left for no reason.
SPEAKER_07That was nice. Also, I looked really cute. I had a cute outfit, and everything like, at least I look good. Soak it in, buddy. All of this other cats having. Big mistake. Huge huge. I've got shopping to do. Um but then it occurred to me later that um this the first time I saw him and he was really awkward. Maybe his girlfriend was there. I didn't and that was something that just didn't occur to me until later. Maybe that why he was super awkward. Oh. Something I thought about later. I'm like, maybe maybe she'd hate it. I don't know. Maybe she's I don't know. And maybe she wasn't there. Maybe he's just awkward. Possibility.
SPEAKER_12I think also it could just be awkward. Like I will say if it's me, I'm not going to be super cool. I'm not Mr. Cool, especially if you see an ex, it's kind of like stepping on a Lego, just throws you off your rhythm.
SPEAKER_03I uh don't have that issue. I don't know. Okay. I guess you're cool with it. Well that's I'm cool. You know pretty cool that we hear. Cool as ice. Uh see, hear that catchphrase? Cause I'm cool.
SPEAKER_12I don't know why, but I imagine you have a backwards hat on now. I'm like, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I do. I'm so cool.
SPEAKER_12That's not gonna keep any sun from your eyes.
SPEAKER_07Wow, that's cool.
SPEAKER_03That's super cool, man.
SPEAKER_07Um I I don't know. When especially if I'm the one that's dumped, I automatically think uh well automatically like any type of romantic feelings just like disappears like instantly. Um because I'm not gonna be attached to somebody who's not into me.
SPEAKER_13Okay.
SPEAKER_07So as soon as I'm jumped, or uh, you know, oh you know, I think I prefer to date this other person, or you know, whatever the scenario, I'm like, okay, well then it it completely disappears. It's you know, I'm not gonna waste my time. It's a waste of time, I guess. Maybe that's what it is. So when when I bump into them again because there's no romantic feelings and my feelings are pretty like neutral, to me it's no big deal. And it's not so awkward to go up to somebody that you know and say hi. But I'm also aware that I'm in the minority.
SPEAKER_12Yes. The other side of it, why I find it weird, is not even romantic feelings, usually. It depends, but I would say that's not going to be the case. What is the case? And what comes to mind and what I don't want to say, but I'm thinking, is they know what I look like naked. That's a lot of information. No, that's a lot of information to have. If you've met my parents and seen my dick, you need to die.
SPEAKER_05I look great. Okay, they're lucky. I give them a gift.
SPEAKER_12It's not even like uh I'm ashamed of my body. Like maybe I am, but that's not that's not who are you asking the shrink?
SPEAKER_11Emotional, damn it!
SPEAKER_12But uh no, you're out of line. Uh no, uh, but it's not even that, it's just like the it's not like oh, I should hide myself. It's just I don't know. It's it's a very exposed feeling. And I think I've got my suit on, but you know what is underneath it.
SPEAKER_07Um I will say I don't think and this is all like you know, within the context of the breakup being mutual for everything that I would think it's obviously if it was an awful breakup or you know, I like like I don't want to see that fucker again. That guy's an asshole. Uh but uh assuming it's like a you know a a fine breakup, like no hard feelings, um, then I have no problems like saying hi and then leaving. But um if I saw I'd avoid him like the plague, I don't want to see his fucking face. But I do understand the you did it a vulnerability, you know, when you know what someone looks like naked. Stupid. You know, I get it. Um I will say I don't think I've seen an ex or run into one and thought about them naked. Uh maybe that's the difference between uh uh men and women. I don't know.
SPEAKER_12Um I don't know if I'm thinking about them naked. I'm thinking about them thinking about me naked.
SPEAKER_11Now I'm saying it out loud, I'm like, that's that's a lot of there's a lot at play there.
SPEAKER_07Like when I ran into my ex a two times at the gym, I did not I don't think the thought of him naked ever entered my mind to be to be honest. The first time it was just really awkward because he made it that way. Like I wanted to die from cringe. And then the second time was just that was you know, I live streaming you well. Okay, yeah, I want to go back to my workout now. All right, bye. And then I went back to my workout.
SPEAKER_12See, I would be thinking they know what like whatever ungodly move I'm doing in this machine, they know what's going on underneath.
SPEAKER_07Well, that's fine by me. Yeah, that's fine to you.
SPEAKER_12You're impressive compared to me. I am not like that. I am like, if I was doing anything, especially like any leg workouts, I'd be like, you know what's going on down there. Doing squats.
SPEAKER_07Oh god, everything's just spreading.
SPEAKER_12That's why I'm not thinking about them naked. I'm thinking about them thinking about me naked.
SPEAKER_07That's so funny. Ah, the things I don't think about. Sounds better.
SPEAKER_12You sound better, Justin, than I do.
SPEAKER_07I just don't think about those things. It's just so funny. I'm also I've been uh you know, married with a tr with children. So it's also just things I don't concern my I don't get concerned about stuff like that. Oh no.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I've never been married and had children unless you count the Sims. So I guess you've got bigger problems than I do.
SPEAKER_07It's a serious commitment.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, The Sims is.
SPEAKER_07I mean, real marriage is just a piece of paper. The Sims is a commitment.
SPEAKER_12Hours upon hours of gameplay.
SPEAKER_07So much time.
SPEAKER_12Doors that I forgot to lock, and then a vampire comes in and then sucks my blood and makes me sluggish for the rest of the day.
SPEAKER_07I've been playing The Sims since the first Sims game. And that's never happened to me.
SPEAKER_12I know. I know.
SPEAKER_07And I never locked the doors.
SPEAKER_12You know what's crazy? In the Sims game with you and me in it, you've already been bitten by a vampire. Not like I set it up that way. A vampire snuck in. Which one? It wasn't the main it wasn't the um the the thin palone. I'm trying to think of what who it was. I mean, I'm gonna have to google. It's a Caleb. He might have been a turned one, honestly. Same. Cause I don't I don't see him in this, but yeah, you you got you got bit by a vampire.
SPEAKER_03Just Oh, the dream come true.
SPEAKER_12Sneaking in. Well, no, it didn't turn you into one. You just had a shitty day. Oh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Ugh. Ugh. Boring.
SPEAKER_12When they sneak in your place, they don't usually at least from my experience, they don't turn into one.
SPEAKER_07They just Oh be oh that's right. They usually ask you if you want to be turned and you have to say yes or no. Like it's you there's usually a prompt.
SPEAKER_12That's what I consider vampires. They're all about consent.
SPEAKER_07It's true. They're like they won't come in unless you invite them.
SPEAKER_12Oh, actually you have they have banners. You did turn that around on me. Yeah. You have to let the right one in.
SPEAKER_04I do.
SPEAKER_12Uh anyway, when Harry met Sally.
SPEAKER_07We went back to vampires. How'd that happen?
SPEAKER_12We tried to get away from horror and then it came back anyway.
SPEAKER_07Every single time. When Harry met Sally, super cute. I loved it. I love Billy Crystal Smile. I love What's Your Face is Blonde Hair? Meg Ryan. That's her name. I love their little relationship. And I love the speech at the end.
SPEAKER_10It doesn't work this way. I love it, but not this way.
SPEAKER_15How about this way? I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees now. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to water a spend with me. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like a musk. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your premium on my clothes, and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I hate it at night because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life on somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
SPEAKER_10Just like you, Harry, you say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you. I hate you, Harry. I really hate you.
SPEAKER_15It's it's just joking.
SPEAKER_07Um I give this movie ten out of ten fake orgasms.
SPEAKER_12Uh I would also give it ten out of ten fake orgasms. It's it's too classic to really pick on. I I do want to bring up a few things though before uh ending it. Uh first, Billy Crystal's character, everything he wore though.
SPEAKER_07So many, so many sweaters.
SPEAKER_12So many. And they're nice sweaters. Yes. And he had a he had a um the the white sweater. That looks so comfortable.
SPEAKER_07Um white clothes stress me out.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, they're high maintenance. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_07I'm like, oh, I'm gonna stain like the moment I wear it two minutes in.
SPEAKER_12White pants stress me out the most, I'll say. I'm I'm fine with white clothes because I wear like a lot of white dress shirts, but white makes my ass look big. That's a problem. Oh, that's a bad thing. Okay. Is that bad or good?
SPEAKER_07Uh no, I just would never wear white pants. I'm good.
SPEAKER_12I have one pair of white pants and every time I wear it, I'm like, oh god. Oh god.
SPEAKER_07Uh you know, it just it makes me paranoid.
SPEAKER_12And if you sit on something brown, you're going to Well, yeah. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Like, what if I start my period?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_07Because my luck, I would start it while wearing white pants.
SPEAKER_12Oh shit.
SPEAKER_07I know. Never wear white pants.
SPEAKER_12Oh my god. That's that's brilliant. Yeah. Oh my god. That would suck. It would. It'd be awful.
SPEAKER_07Um then I cry, everyone's pointing and laughing at me. It's like sixth grade all over again.
SPEAKER_04Emotional damage.
SPEAKER_07I go to my mom's house, I cry some more, she holds me.
SPEAKER_04You want a cheesecake? Oh, I'd love a cheesecake. And I was like, I'm 35 years old, so why didn't I think I could wear white pants? I want a cheesecake.
SPEAKER_12Um But how did you know? And then the other thing I just wanted to ask. So in the movie, which I'm gonna clip to right now, is it the scene?
SPEAKER_08It's the right. I forgot you're a man. Nothing. Just that all men are sure it never happened to them, and most women at one time or another have done it, so you do the math.
SPEAKER_15You don't think that I can tell the difference?
SPEAKER_12Even I've done it.
SPEAKER_06Are you actually curious?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Oh God.
SPEAKER_03Oh have what she's having.
SPEAKER_04That's Rob Reiner's mom.
SPEAKER_12Oh you had referenced the Rob Reiner's mom was in the diner.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_12How did you know that if you've never seen the movie?
SPEAKER_07Um That's next fucking level. Because um back in the day, my family and I would play um what was it called? Seen It? Like movie trivia thing. And so um that scene, the the fake orgasm scene, I have seen before because of Seen It. Because it would play a clip, and then after the clip, it'd ask you a question about the scene. And the question was who played the I'll have it, she's having line, and it was Rob Reiner's mom. And Rob Reiner's dad, Carl Carl Reiner, was uh was he head writer? He was uh he was either head writer or one of the writers of uh the Dick Van Dyke show. Um and he also played Dick Van Dyke's boss in the show.
SPEAKER_12Really? Yeah. Oh my god. I don't know. It sounds like I wanna s I did not expect that they had that much so the Okay. I mean let me ask you They've been in ho like Hollywood stuff for a long freaking time.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_12Wow.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Carl Carl Reiner's really funny.
SPEAKER_12I'm not sure I know, but I wasn't I don't think I really uh the the Vic Victon but uh now I'm not speaking well. The Dick Van Dyke show, there we go, uh is my is a hole for me.
unknownI love that show.
SPEAKER_12I'm I would need to fill that hole with Dick.
SPEAKER_07I might it was right there. Dick and his dykes.
SPEAKER_12I need dick I need Dick and I need a dyke and I need Oh wait, that's a slur. Oh shit. I was thinking of like, you know. Yeah Yeah. Oh, but now it's a slur too. Yeah, oops. Well that's staying in. I don't need to be likable.
SPEAKER_07There's an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show where he's telling the story of when they bring their baby home, their son home from the hospital for the first time.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_07And he's convinced that they brought home the wrong baby. And I don't remember what prompted this, but he's he is convinced that the babies got switched at some point. He's like, this baby doesn't even look like me. Doesn't like his mother either. And a whole bunch of other reasons. And so he discovered that they are his theory is that they kept getting them confused with another family with a very similar last name. And he's like, you know what? They kept mixing up the food and stuff. They probably mixed up our baby. And so he finds their phone number and calls them. He's like, We our babies were switched, and I want my baby back. And we have yours. So you need to come over and we'll straighten this out, kind of a thing. And so the doorbell rings. At this point, he's told his wife, Yeah, we got the wrong baby, and they're the real families wanted to come take our baby. Because that's the this isn't our baby. And she's like, You are being an insane person. Like, this is our baby. He's like, No, it's not though. Okay, don't get too attached. And so he hear a doorbell rings and he answers it, and it's a black couple. He's like, Why didn't you say anything on the phone? And they're like, and I thought that was so incredible. And um it's uh I think Carl Reiner was the one that wrote that episode. And it was during, you know, it's the 19 what late 50s, early sixties. That the the show came out in the early fifties. So, you know, a lot of black actors weren't getting jobs at the time. And uh Carl Reiner was I just, you know what? I don't know. And so Carl Reiner specifically wrote that episode. Uh said they could hire some black actors and quality and all that fun stuff. Um and at first they said that they were not allowed to air the show. And I don't remember the details of how they were able to convince them that they could air the show, but obviously they eventually convince them. And that is my favorite episode. It's so funny.
SPEAKER_12That's crazy that they couldn't film is they couldn't film it just because it had black actors in it?
SPEAKER_05They couldn't air it.
SPEAKER_12Or not film it, yeah, it's air it, my bad. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it was a different time.
SPEAKER_12When did Star Trek come out in comparison to that? Because with Aurora that was in the 60s, right? Like late sixties? Um, yes.
SPEAKER_07So I see when the dick Yeah, see when the dick came out first. Um that specific episode came out and the original Star Trek was nineteen sixty six.
SPEAKER_12Wow.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, well the Dickman Doc show was the last TV show to be aired in black and white. But when we Star Trek, that was a big deal too.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, which is Oh well. Luckily, they that's not a thing, and luckily, I mean nothing anymore, and luckily uh we got when Harry met Sally. So all of it led to when Harry met Sally. The hair when Harry met Sally, they defeated Bigotry.
SPEAKER_07Look at that. Look at that. There's so many black people in Harry with Sally.
SPEAKER_12Well uh a lot of them. Well, maybe it didn't single-handedly. Team effort. So no.
SPEAKER_07When I see when Harry met Sally, I think variety.
SPEAKER_12Well, it's a good movie either way, so uh I would also give it 10 out of 10 fake orgasms under a table. Thanks for uh listening. And thanks for movie night. I don't know how to end these now because now I'm like, how do we usually we just talk? It's easier.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we should probably we should probably write something. Do we write something?
SPEAKER_12I've never had it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we should we yeah, we should have like a like a like an intro and a sign off.
SPEAKER_12If you have fake orgasms under the table, give this podcast a five-star review. Don't forget to check it out in all the podcast things, and keep movie nighting with your fake orgasms. And let Dick in, because you might be racism.
