THE GRITS AND BEYOND PODCAST

SPEAKER_06

Yes, um, wonderful day to you guys. My name is Uluwa Tobi Loba, and you're welcome to the Great And Beyond Podcast. Um, I won't be doing this alone. Obviously, I've got amazing gentlemen on the podcast today. Um, first of all, the the regular face of the pod, um, Immanuel Osadevi, popularly known as Emmy Sti is on the podcast today. I've got um Socimone, Mr. Uh SSR Imma Fiddom as well, and also aside the two gentlemen that you've known regularly on this podcast, talking about the Great and Beyond Podcast and Beyond Podcast. I've got two amazing gentlemen joining us today. One is a crazy Barcelona fan with um his name is um Sheriff Olo Dioku. How are you doing today, Sheriff? I'm good, bro. How about you? I'm very well, thank you. Welcome to the Great and Beyond Podcast. Also, I've got another person. Um is an Arsenal fan. He just left the wilderness after 22 years. Uh, ladies and gentlemen, welcome. Um, Salam Farouk as well to the podcast today. Thank you, thank you for the introduction. Thank you, it's amazing to have you on here. I mean, as an Arsenal fan, first of all, how do you feel winning the Premier League title after 22 years?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I feel good. It's been a while, I won't lie. Because the last time we won, I was not into football that much. I was still a kid that much. So I don't even I only I only knew we won that that year. I didn't even like I didn't feel the experience. I didn't experience us winning the league. So and you know, over over the years I've seen a lot of like Arsenal trying to like win the league, and no, we've not been able to. And you know, the guys trying after four years, is I think it's it's really commendable, aside the fact that people don't want to agree that we won the league, like with like our ability and all that. People saying PGMOL supported us and all that, but uh this guy let's not even go into the context of that right now. What's four years, yeah, you know, like second, second, second, and um it's it's not easy keeping that consistency, trying to like you know, win the league, and uh yeah, they were able to do it after the fourth year, and yeah, I think I I really feel good, I feel nice, especially for the players online. Even though they get paid, and I don't even get paid for you know it's it's not easy. Just it's mentally you can be doing trying to like achieve something, and you just like always close, always close, and not getting that what you're trying to achieve. But yeah, absolutely you can see their first body. They've been able to do it now, and I think this this is going to like change the mentality of the players for the call reason now. Yeah, it's it's really going to help them like mentally, yeah. But yeah, so it's it's good.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna go pretty much into that very soon, and we're gonna look into you know the Arsenal, you know, run and everything in depth, and as we you know proceed with the first of all, I need to ask you guys, um, Imano, um, once again, welcome to the episode two of the Great and Beyond Podcast. And I just want to ask you, um, before we go into other things, like um, I just want to talk about a bit of you know, this Drake's new album. We talked about in the last episode because we were looking out for um, you know, for the album, and then from nowhere, the Iceman album that was meant to drop on the May 15th, he dropped with two other albums talking about the Maid of Honor and the um Abty album. I mean, something you need to appreciate American artists for that I appreciate is bro, Orion Wale songs. No worries, they always have loads of songs down and you're not lazy, but they come all out. You see Breezy's album as well. You could see like 27 tracks on the album one time. I mean, we were talking something about albums the last episode in terms of expectations. Yeah, do you feel this album meets the fan expectation? Because to me, I see him coming out to kind of like you know, do a clapback to what Kendrick Lamar said, you know, the the the label situation, the you know, clapping back at LeBron James, you know, his ups, even his own fan base not standing up for him when things went out, you know, with the old Kendrick Lamar thing. To me, it's just coming out to do like a clap back to everybody. Do you think that was necessary? And do you think that you know is what you expect to get from the album, obviously, or do you think that album meets your expectation generally as a fan? Because personally, I'm a huge Drake fan, and I'm gonna ask you guys, anyways, like but first of all, Emmy, Drake or Lama, before you now go into the nitty-gritty of the album.

SPEAKER_04

Drake or Lama. As a fan, I think I I I fuck with Drake more time or his type of music more. As a fan, I think I fuck with Drake more.

SPEAKER_06

Um talking about album, I don't think I think you need to speak a little bit more louder with as a fan, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I said I think I fuck with Drake more as a fan, but I don't think the album you know met the expectation like what we were actually expecting. You've been off for a while, you've been low key, you know. There's nothing like if someone just goes off and low key, you know, fear his return, all this stuff. And I wouldn't say he was trying to do the numbers, you know, because of course he's gonna have it. You understand, but at the end of the day, I don't think first of all, dropping those three uh albums at once was needed. You understand? I'm all for clap back, you're a rapper, you understand? You can reply to wherever you want to reply.

SPEAKER_06

But is he is he thinking enough, like you know, we because Lamar, you know.

SPEAKER_04

I think I think not like cost is bigger than the whole Drake album. I ain't gonna lie, you understand. This album to me, as far as expectation, as far as the standard of Drake is concerned, it's a floor. Again, you can do the number. Apple Music Global is like number one to maybe two for the moment. You understand? But if you are talking in terms of streetwise, you know, in terms of deliverance, in terms of like you know, intellectual conversations you should be having, or you know, just music flow. I can't really say this is what the album is all about. The clap back it's not even you know doesn't gig like that, you understand. So look, I understand the fact that everybody wants to be in their software, you understand? Nobody wants to go hard again on albums and everything, but you can be cheap and still deliver something. Lama doesn't sound serious, but um that guy is you understand. So we expected things like that from Jake as well, you know. And especially I think the the OPR PRED doesn't wear the album, you know, with the whole eyes, yeah, you know, I was expecting like something super like this guy is coming to the city.

SPEAKER_06

Right, and from Drake of like 20 20 2016 17. You you have one standout song that is crazy all over the world at this time around, like you know, and you know, that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_04

You know, for me to say as a Drake fan to say not like us is bigger than the whole three albums. That's crazy because there's not even one standout song. We can't say okay, where have of course he had a few lines, you know, in some certain tracks where he talked to uh Kane, he talked to Mebron, he talked to was it Travis or the other?

SPEAKER_06

I think he reached you talked he talked about J. Cool stuff as well.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so you know, those are just lines, but um, everybody can have one or two punch lines. You understand? And these guys, I really don't know what's happening to the yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So see, before we go for the other discussion, what's what's your own, you know, um about the album? Did it meet your own expectation? Was it what you were expecting? Because I knew you when you did the address, I'm sure you listened to that album first.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, you know, the thing, yeah, like me, I was even up that night waiting for the album to drop because um I didn't even know what to expect personally, because when I heard that, oh, three albums were dropping, you know, because it was very close, like just the previous day. You know, we didn't know that.

SPEAKER_06

But when I woke up to the three album, I didn't even know it was gonna drop it.

SPEAKER_07

So like because I knew that because like a couple of hours before, I knew that the album was dropping, and I found that uh three albums were dropping together. So I was excited, you know. So I listened to Iceman, you know, some some craps were cold, you understand, but the bands were good. And I like the way, you know, he was trying to respond to all the things that those people have attacked him for. I like the way he was trying to understand, but I didn't feel maybe I overexpected.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I think he's after problem generally now.

SPEAKER_07

I think overexpected because he makes Drake now. And you know, he has not done a project in a while.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_07

Everything in this style, I thought, ah, oh no, we're in for the ride.

SPEAKER_06

Do you think it was too much? I should have just done just the iceman.

SPEAKER_07

I think I was trying to make a statement.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I think I was trying to make a statement. I think Iceman would have been enough, but I think to show that okay, I'm Drake and I'm still number one. So make one all this one up.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. True, true. Nice one, guys, nice one, guys. Um, do you um um do you uh uh Faruko um or I'm Sheriff has anything to add to that in terms of the Drake album?

SPEAKER_01

I haven't I haven't really listened to the album, but I've been in the car with my friend, and he has played some of the tracks. They were good, but for me personally, I just think Drake needs to move on. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_06

I think I agree with you.

SPEAKER_01

You already lost, and everyone knows you lost the rapper too, and he just keeps holding on to that, like he's trying to like prove himself. You already know you're a good artist. Like Emmy said uh earlier, me personally, uh I lean more towards Drake because Kendrick is more of like you know, rap, rap, rap, rap, yeah, you get, but Drake can still give you some nice melodies. That's Kendrick is a very good artist. I listen to them both, but me personally, I just lean more towards Drake because he's versatile, he can rap, he's got good melodies and all that, but you just need to move on. If he keeps holding on to that, like rap battle, I think it's not we're not going to get that trick that we used to add.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we used to know, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because if if he's trying to just make music and you know, to like clap back at Kendrick and you know, them recross, all the guys that said shit about him, it's just it's just going to continue proving their points, you know. True. Or it's just you need to just forget these people, make your music. You've got the fan base, everyone needs to recross recross. The funny thing is I I see Recross like bashing Drake, and I'm like, one of the some of the best Drake, Drake gave him those eats. Is he astromatic music, gold, uh, there's this track, gold, something? Like most of these guys, like Ray Cross is a good one. But I don't know, but Drake is just, I don't know. He needs to just move on, and you know, once he does that, he's going to like you know, start giving us good music, and the fan base is there already. He doesn't need to like stress about us. He's a big man, he's making money, and yeah. Well, I've already listened to the album.

SPEAKER_06

No, I mean you you you made a very you know, you made a silly point because I felt like you know, those those clapbacks to me, it seems forced, and he should have done it fine. You know, before the album, the the not like us album um track um Lamar dropped, there's been back and forth, there's been you know this track going back and forth, back and forth, but this one I think he left it too late to respond to those attacks. But yeah, that's fine. I mean, regardless of like Emmy said, it's going to make the numbers, it's got huge fabrics all over the world in terms of um music, and I think um I just wish him success. I just feel like this is probably maybe we should stop having expectations for album, just go with the vibe. Uh I feel like it's the same thing with Afrobeats. We talked about it in on the last episode, and you know, taking it to the American level as well, you know, even Breezy's album, you know, how people were saying, Oh, most of the songs sound so similar that he had to come out himself to you know make an Instagram post to apologize to some of his fans and to those that accepted the album. You know, the fact that Breezy had to come out to defend an album, and I feel like something is happening generally in terms of I think I think the problem with music in general, the money is too much, so therefore these guys are lazy. Do you think it's laziness for someone to drop drop an album that three albums technically, bro? That's each album could contain about 15 tracks. Is that laziness?

SPEAKER_04

It's been a leg that the guy has a lot of songwriters.

SPEAKER_06

No, it's not about litigation, normal, it's part of the business.

SPEAKER_04

So if you have loads of songwriters, of course, and the the guy hasn't been he went off for about over a year, innit? So there was enough time. These are guys that can produce music within the period of this podcast. You understand? So I feel look, God are the days whereby, you know, when I mean lazy, it's like everything, first of all, when you think about the grind, for you to get a producer, the grind you have to make, you know, the how the effort you have to put in, you you want to make sure that you put in your best. You understand? But I feel because everything is easy right now, the money is just you know, just the rubbish for too many times, you know, you're already wrapping the money now. I think that's why most of these guys are leaving now. You understand? Yeah, I just feel that the expectation in recent years, I can't really say this person has lived up to the expectations. You know, when you're studying, the grind is hard, people want to like know what's up, people fuck with you, you have a fan base, you grow, then you get to like that apex, and you just start you know just start starting.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I mean, I I I get what you're saying in this context, and I mean, like I said, we we wish Drake and Lama, every one of them, all the very best. Um, moving on from that. Um, I quickly um this let me use this medium to um um wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters happy uh do Kabir. Did I pronounce that properly? I wish I think I did. Yeah, um, it's the it's the yearly um in Nigeria we refer to it as the Ileia Festival. I mean, at is this I think it's gonna be on Wednesday. Yeah, yeah, this is the big one. This is the big one, bro.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's gone bird be done, bro.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, the meeting alive now. That's why we've got some more reason we've got sheriff as well. Yeah, okay. Hey man, bro, we need to turn it to this podcast as well. You guys need to turn it so um once again, happy um Edo Kabiru to our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world. And please don't forget to um subscribe on YouTube to the Great and Beyond Podcast because we like so many content coming your way. You can also listen live on um Spotify and Apple podcast, and yeah, moving on. Um quickly, um, before we you know dig deeper into you know the Premier League season that just ended, and you know, I would like also let me just let me just base it on the Premier League quick question. Um, starting from Sherry, um, what would you say is your player of the year in the Premier League?

SPEAKER_00

Player of the year.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, this is the quick fire question. I'm gonna ask you, just go straight to the point. Yeah, first of all, player of the year, what's your player of the year with the Premier League?

SPEAKER_00

Player of the year, I would say I I genuinely do not have like a player in mind, but I'll say Bruno.

SPEAKER_06

Bruno, okay. Is it because of the assist or you know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, for uh just because the season has been underwhelming, and that's the only reason I'm snar won. It's uh Bruno.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, what was your young player of the year?

SPEAKER_00

And obviously, O'Reilly.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, absolutely. I think he's well deserved. I had an amazing season city. Yeah, what was your most improved player in the Premier League this season?

SPEAKER_00

Most improved player, uh most improved, let's see.

SPEAKER_02

Um I think it would be um thinking about it now.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, I I I maybe we can see um your careers because at the beginning of the season, you know, it kind of looked like you this guy wouldn't find you know a balance, yeah. And then as the season continued, as the season progressed, he just sort of like improved. So I think your careers was your best sign in best signing. Um it's for me, it's it's it's Ryan Sheki. No, I think he has been amazing.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it has been a biggest surprise in the Premier League this season.

SPEAKER_00

Biggest surprise, good or bad.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it could be good, it could be bad.

SPEAKER_00

Biggest surprise, I generally don't have oh Florian Biatz.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was a good day. What about you, Farooq? Who's your was your player of the CEA in the Premier League?

SPEAKER_01

This is not about being a master fan or like no no no no Joey.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, that's no stay.

SPEAKER_01

I think he should have been David Ryan.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

What about your young player of the year? Yeah, that's O'Reilly. Okay, yeah. I think I agree with that. Most improved player.

SPEAKER_01

Most improved player. I don't know. I think I'll give it to Maguire.

SPEAKER_02

Maguire, okay, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_06

What about your yeah, your best signing of the season?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Cherokee, Cherokee, that's your biggest surprise, good or bad? Good, assist on the land as a team.

SPEAKER_06

True.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely coming from religion and going from the Europa League. Like, yeah, so on the land as a as a team, those guys really tried. So I assist on the land. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Now, what about Saucy? What's your player of the year?

SPEAKER_07

Player of the year, it's most standout player based on performances. Yeah. It has to be it has to be Bruno.

SPEAKER_06

Bruno, absolutely.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, it's Bruno.

SPEAKER_06

What about your young player of the year?

SPEAKER_07

Young player of the year. Personally, I'll have to give it to Cherokee. Yeah, because for your first thing in the prem to get 12 assists and I think like four goals, that's like a single contribution. That's amazing. And it's not funny because you will not even think it's a young player.

SPEAKER_06

True. Yeah. Yeah. Is it a proper one? Yeah, how old is he? It's like 22, 23. It's 22. Yeah, it's 23.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. O'Reilly one as well.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, absolutely. What about your like uh most improved player this season?

SPEAKER_07

Most improved player, I have to give it to my boy Joe Pedro.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. I mean he he well, I I I I get it. I hear it. Yeah, but yeah, I get it.

SPEAKER_07

Trying to find out what to stick.

SPEAKER_06

And just eat the ground running with the club. I don't I I think I think we need to speak. Yeah, I think what we're gonna go there now.

SPEAKER_07

So come out with 20 goal contribution, 15 goal services. Yeah, but it's shame they didn't get call-up. Yeah, oh yeah, we're coming there.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we're coming there. What what about your best signing?

SPEAKER_07

Best signing still has to go to actually game.

SPEAKER_06

Right, and your biggest surprise, good or bad? Biggest surprise, that's with one mods. Going half of the season unbeaten, which is crazy. 18 games on beaten, that's that's crazy. Well, good. Imano, finally, who's your player of the year?

SPEAKER_04

As a player, Bruno Fernandez, absolutely horrible. But as a player, yeah. If you've gone like I have quite a number of people that have gone to see his games live, and everyone keeps coming back that that guy is an horrible person. Yes. The way he speaks to players, the way he always nags and no, I mean we we we we all see that all the time, but you understand to to put everything together. Yeah, but as a player, the guy was young player of the yeah.

SPEAKER_03

O'Reilly for me, 100. Most improved player of the season for you. Most improved player for me. I think I'll give it to Garcore as well.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_06

And your biggest surprise.

SPEAKER_04

Biggest surprise on the line.

SPEAKER_06

And your best signing of the season.

SPEAKER_04

Best signing of the season for me. Yeah, I'll give it to uh What's his name?

SPEAKER_03

Ryan Shaki.

SPEAKER_04

I'll give it to S I'll give it to Sameyu. Hmm.

SPEAKER_06

But Samey. I Like I see it, I see it, I see it. Yeah. Well, good one, guys. Um, I I was raising up a conversation with Immanuel last night um when we're trying to like prepare the things we're talking to today, and there's something I noticed generally in the world of football. I mean, coming from a media angle of things, like there's something called the agenda setting, like agenda setting theory in media, where it means like it's the um the terrestrial stations or like the the normal mode of um media, which is like the television, your newspapers, your radios, these are the guys that set up or that determine what an agenda or what we discuss. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? In terms of things that the media wants us to talk about, is it determined by them? They it is the rate, for instance, in the UK, we have the BBC, you know, the Sky Sport and all this. It was these guys that you know determine the things that you and I discuss generally in terms of the stories we share. So, for instance, let's say, oh, Bruno Fernandez just got signed by Manchester United. You know, that's coming from BBC. They put it like you know, on Sky Sport News, for instance, they put that on. But now, in in recent media, there's something we call reverse agenda setting theory or reverse agenda setting. Let me not even include the theory. So, what this means is like now is not the main medium of communication, which is like the terrestrial stations or just the broadcast stations generally, they are not the ones determining what we discuss as individuals. It's now we people is now the social media, which is the new media, that determines you know what everyone you know goes with. So, why I'm why talking about this basically, um, I want to make an example or uh use um Fabrice Romano as a typical example of the situation, you know. Um, these days there's been stories whereby like um people, you know, I don't know if you guys feel the same way, but major stories are not like major stories anymore. In terms of I don't know if you remember back in the day, if we the deadline transfer day, for instance, on Sky Sport, we all sit down on our TVs from like eight o'clock till when the transfer window closes because we want to know the big transfers. But now, since the likes of um Fabricor Romano, David Einstein, and these other guys are up on social media, bro, we all have our Twitter notifications or our ex notifications, bro. Once they drop, like here we go, you know, those ones are now like the big stories. Do you understand? And it's funny that the people the likes of BBC, the likes of Skype will start quoting these guys and say, Oh, according to Fabrizio Romano, um Mostala just left man um Liverpool, you know, that kind of stuff. Do you do you think like in general, and I'm gonna start with um Sheriff on this, do you think that this is this is this is ruined football excitement, football entertainment? Because something happened the course of last week as well. If you've been following the stories of Pep Gardiola leaving um Manchester City from January, as a Chelsea fan, I knew he was gonna leave at the end of the season, but Pep keeps saying, I have 12 months on my contract, I have 12 months on my contract, but we know the game you know, we've seen the way Enzo Mariska left Chelsea. We know he's been talking to Manchester City. So something happened last week where the news broke out that you know Pep was gonna leave Manchester City, and at the time, you know, it still kept on acting like he wasn't leaving, but because the news already broke out, so these days and also in the media generally, you hear under Liam Rosinior, we hear like oh, the team news has been out. Do you think all these guys, all these media guys have sort of ruined football stories, or do you think because we're in a new age of social media, that's how it's meant to be, or do you do you think that big stories in football, there's still an excitement to it? And if you remember in 2009 when Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid, you know how huge that story was. There was nothing like Fabrizio Romano at the time saying, Oh, you know, we just get to hear those stories via newspapers, via TV stations, and it goes viral and it goes in. But now, before these major stories come out, we've heard it on social media, we've seen it on Twitter, we've seen it somewhere. Do you think this has a ruin for ball excitement, or it's just the way it's meant to be in terms of the new age that we are at right now?

SPEAKER_00

Um, to be honest, yeah, I feel like it has rained because personally I have Fabizio muted on everywhere. He's not going to rain the game for me. Not now that you know transfer season is upon us.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's not that we don't want to bring this conversation up.

SPEAKER_00

Getting the news, I want to be excited about the news. I don't want you to tell me, oh, they are getting pizza with his agents now, his agent is in the boardroom now, they've just gone to the restroom to to to you know pee and all of that. Like, aside from the fact that the the the especially Fabrizio, aside from the fact that they ruined this news, Fabrizio carries you along, like he wants you to be in the boardroom, he wants you to be a part of the signing. I don't understand it. So like I feel like they've ruined it for a lot of fans because back in the day, like you said, you could you could just wake up and you know your club has signed the mother kid, and you know, your the excitement is different, true. And I don't think that even if we now live in um an era where social media is such a huge thing, we we should ruin that for football lovers. It's it's not fair. For example, look at look at the emotions um for pep living. Imagine if Fabrizio had imagined that yeah, the week before. Do you get what I'm trying to say?

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

So basically, I feel like you know, these guys they just ruined it, especially Fabrizio, man, especially most especially Fabrizio.

SPEAKER_06

That's why I use him as an example because something happened. Was it last season? Um, I think a club in Netherlands was trying to sign a player, and they didn't allow any news media. No, I think was it? I can't remember right now. It was either Luke the Young they were trying to sign or Westweg us. I can't remember. They didn't allow, they just use a private jet to bring this player to the club and they did the unveiling in their stadium with their fans. They didn't allow any social media things because it should be things that have ruined, you know, food how people enjoy football stories, exactly. I said this because again, Transfer Window is coming up, and with the way because to me, I feel like this Pep Kadilla living man city is not celebrated enough.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because he ruined it, it ruined it, it ruined it. It should be something where like you know, the fans, the fans get to enjoy the last moment, and then you know, do you know how uh I'm still gonna say it's the the news would have been different if you know it was announced in a better way, but you know, I think um even Pep said that there were news that when he told his players that um he was leaving, I think Cherky was like, oh, that they already they already found out and all of that, which is bad. I genuinely think that's why.

SPEAKER_06

Sofsi, what do you think about this you know case that I just brought up?

SPEAKER_07

Uh personally, I think it's a mixed bag. Yeah, yeah. There are some times that it's good to be in the know or there's sometimes that oh, it's also nice to be surprised. But based on the way the world has evolved, based on the way football news is because I'm sure sometimes like they look they tell from each other, they look into these guys on purpose to get the necessary PR they need so that they can be able to, you know, get attention that okay, this is what's happening. They get focused on yeah, yeah, to get focused on the case.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, for example, that that guy at Atletico Bible, that that guy, he used it, he used us to get a better deal for himself.

SPEAKER_06

Nico Williams.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah, because like um the in the first situation now, even from January when Mareska, when we heard that City were quoting talks with Mareska, you know, so there's like there was already an understanding that Mariska was waiting for City. So you know everybody at the back of their mind, like, oh, we kept live at the end of the season, we start leaving, and you know, Mariska openly said that he was waiting on City, you know, City is the club, it's the only club you will go to, this and that, this and that.

SPEAKER_06

So it's agent at the time as well.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was using, I think he was using chance to also, you know, back that, you know, legal controversy. But the thing is for me, it's 50-50. Like, I like sometimes I like you know knowing, like, okay, this is what my club is up to. And sometimes I like to be surprised, like, oh wow, I didn't know we're doing this. So I think I don't I don't think it's good or bad personally. I just think there's a time and place to know, and there's a time and place to be surprised.

SPEAKER_06

Right. So um, Imano, um, what I want you to look at is okay, I I like the point where Susie came up for like, oh, is it is good or bad. But for instance, as well, last week is as well, the England national team um squad going to the World Cup was um, I think Thomas Toko already called this guy to let him know what's going on before you know he came out to the press conference, I think on Friday, to let the world know the players take and the reasons why he's taking those players to the world cup. But then this has already licked a day before. We already knew those that were not gonna make it to the world cup, those that we're gonna make it to the world cup, like you said, you said it's good or bad for if it's your club, you like to know, like Sorcy said, is it would like to know what this club is up to. Umano, in in this context, do you feel like these players are also sponsoring some of this leaking of information, like you said, to generate PR for themselves? Because no matter how you look at world football today, bro, your PR is really, really key. There's a player in the French nationality, I can't remember his name now. A back 20 goals in the League One and it's not going to the pro World Cup. So, do you think like these players to intentionally invest in this sort of social media guys, these influencers? Because that's what I see them as as well, to you know, do PR for themselves, or they are overdoing it because these guys need to get like the first stories in terms of engagement for themselves.

SPEAKER_03

For me generally, I want to trace it all to it's all about technology.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, so I think you need to speak up a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

So for me generally, I said if we want to trace it all back now, I think it's all about technology, and everything we're saying now is all about the pros and cons of technology, you understand. For me, I don't think there's nothing different. This leaks has always been there, you understand, but because in the age of the BBC you said uh you know the sky was dead, technology was not there, so we have to wait for these traditional people to come and break this news to us. Nothing has changed. The world has just you know, the world is now going on technology whereby someone can have a link or hear something and bring it to social media and it just you understand, nothing has really changed, and news reach people quicker. It's just the same way, like we have if you go like in the meals, you know, space we see people like that local fire reporters, they get information, and you be like, How do they get this information and they bring it to their own, you know, platform? It's the same way if an independent um you know influencer has that same news, can always bring it the very dark mass and everything. It's the same thing, you know. So, but I think sometimes the players, you know, release this news by themselves to get up here, you understand, and also other times, like what you said, it can be either here or there. Other times, because I think some seasons ago there was this Japanese guy, a player, and when Fabrizo broke the news, the guy was like, he went to Fabino's comment and like, how did you even my wife didn't know about this? And how did this guy know? You know, and it's bad because yeah, like you said, it takes away all the hype and the expectations and all that compared new shoes. I think the guy you're talking about is Waggles. Yeah, Waggles. I think the club came out with a motor content. So imagine these people have to go just to call this thing. I think like uh when uh this uh no no the game I was supposed to go to backup. When the whole background came, you know the also increase, it's PR increase when it's PR increased, you know, in a way it works. Exactly. So from a business perspective, I think you can also use it to your advantage.

SPEAKER_00

Therefore, I think and also there's a part there's a part we are not speaking on. Sorry to you know, yeah, there's a fact, there's a part we're not speaking on, and it's the fact that some players use it to destabilize the dressing room too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that might also be.

SPEAKER_00

For example, there are players, there are players at Barcelona that will not be mentioning names that's been dropping this news, and the coach tested his theory to see if you know they were the ones releasing it, you know, and it turns out that they were the ones to to corroborate the thing you said.

SPEAKER_06

I I was there's something um this guy at Chelsea is doing currently. So shout out to Futu Kaba, my brother on Instagram, actually. Like, and and he pointed it, and I saw it a couple times. You know, normally you can pay all these guys, like I said, they are influencers too on this even Fabric to Remand. If you want to advertise your product, you could pay him, he could do it for you. Yeah, so Tosia Davio has been paying some sort of allegedly, actually, allegedly, he's been paying some sort of influencers to kind of like you know, do PR for him, you know, with the new manager coming in right now. You would see stories like, oh, um Shabi Alonso said he's gonna be sticking to five major players and Premier in Chelsea right now, Enzo Fernandez, Kokurrea, Dal Pedro, Rhys James, and Tossi Adabio as a senior figure in the team. You know, you'll see stories that are like you'd be like, and uh from genuine sources, like genuine sources obviously I'll be like things like what added to fine you might be one of the oldest players in this team. Every man for himself, bro. What do you think about all the just to crap it all up quickly?

SPEAKER_01

Uh like Emmy said, I don't I don't think I I can blame Fabrizio. I just technology. Because during the times of BBC and CNN, because there was not technology like we have now, that's why we didn't have people like Fabrizio then. But when technology came, the advanced advantage, you know. Yeah, so people like Fabrizio would like definitely be around, and and I think there's an advantage and disadvantage to this as well. Uh cycling an example, one of the advantages of having someone like Fabrizio is you know, some teams they look at players and they are like not very fast in making decisions. But when Fabrizio comes out and says, Okay, uh uh lipstick is buying this player next week, I think some players, some teams like take action and just use the advantage to like that's not that easy. Exactly. No, yeah, so everything works hand in hand, and we've seen a lot of transfer whereby I oh this guy is going to see this guy was meant to come to Asna Mudri. I think because when everyone was talking about it, it was like it was linked to us now. Then the next thing you know Chelsea just went online to Chelsea. Great point. I think that's that's that's an advantage as well. Uh so but Fabrizio, yeah, the guys, me. I I've I always like wait for his notification because me too. I'm not gonna lie, that's the place I can get like news. I don't like VBC, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But you don't like something, it can it can rewatch story. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

It can rewatch story, you'll be like once you have once you have said the first okay, this people are going for this one. You just keep rewinding you something.

SPEAKER_01

Like, no, you know, you have to like make it like you know, I remember the Kyangas was some example. Yeah, so he has to make it look good. That's his work, he's that influencer. Yeah, these are the things that make him like relevant. Absolutely. I don't I don't think he takes any kind of notes at all. It just goes straight to the point. That's why I love the main thing. It goes straight to the point. But unlike you, you if you mention, sorry, to cut it short, you mention like you meet like three random guys and mention these other guys. I'm very sure 80% of the guys will go for Brazil. It's still Fabrizio at the end of the funny thing. What makes him different? You know the funny thing, I feel like I feel like sorry, Farouk.

SPEAKER_06

I feel like it's gotten these stories from other guys, but because he has the name and the number, right, he's either of them, so he gets his story from other guys as well. Not because when I did my research, there's a discussion that Fabito is closer to display as managers, um, their agents, he's got inside people in various clubs, so he has direct link to like majority of club agents and all these things. Like I said, Fapito has over 27 million followers on on X, on Instagram, he's got huge following. If you look at his following in all his social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, is over 40 million. So, someone who's got this huge number, obviously, and as an influencer, if you have that kind of number, people always respect you, people always go after you in terms of anything you say you do. But we're just looking at I'm not saying anything Fabrice is doing is good or bad, but we need to also talk about the pros and cons of all these things that he's doing. And like Sheriff mentioned, and I also corroborated is the fact that bro, why not just go straight to the point with some stories? It just seems like it's winding me off sometimes.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's boring if you just go straight away. He wants to like you don't just watch it for me, it's it's for me, bro.

SPEAKER_02

He knows what he's doing.

SPEAKER_04

Of course, that's still that's still that's still part of it. That's his job, that's still part of the job. But if you just drop one thing and imagine deal doesn't take place immediately, people will forget about it. You understand?

SPEAKER_06

No, it's just the dealing happened later, many of them.

SPEAKER_04

You understand? Uh just take for an example, in it, you know, you're watching as you're a film producer, you have a very good story. You just do season one, beginning and just end it in season one. You don't build anything. You understand? I understand you. Sometimes he's not saying anything new. We understand you.

SPEAKER_02

He's not saying anything new. You understand.

SPEAKER_04

For me, I think you think number one is an investor.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you get to make money.

SPEAKER_04

And how can we get money? Bro, if he if he is getting these impressions daily, he's getting more money. Let's not forget this guy this guy, this guy at the end of the day might be paying to get this information as well. You understand? So this might be I understand it's annoying, but almost you have to realize in as much as he's doing these things, he's getting the money.

SPEAKER_02

That's primary.

SPEAKER_04

So who do you think is making more money, him or other guys, on a particular story with this his own strategy?

SPEAKER_02

From his perspective, he's making more money, that's what I'm saying. No, no, no, not to be fair.

SPEAKER_06

I I mean the with the experience of journalism that I have, I just feel like uh it there's something, you know, it's I get what you're trying to say in terms of you know trying to gas people up, you know, for the major big story, you know, to drop later on. But then there's also something that involves like a pyramid structure, technically. You know, when I say pyramid, like from top to bottom or from bottom to top, you can be inverted or or the normal pyramid style, where like you give the story from like the least important. You know, to the important, right? So it depends on the context. Let's say, for instance, Chelsea wants to sign William Esteval from you know where they sign him from in the under Brazilian national. We've given up that oh, Chelsea's looking out for this young wonder kid from Brazil, blah blah blah. Then the next story, I believe, should be there's been advanced, you know, um conversation in terms of meeting with the agents. The next story for me should be like, oh, they've talked about it and should be signing next week. Next story should be, oh, they've signed. Do you get? And like I said, I understand Sheriff's angle, which is I think where I'm coming from as well, and I understand Emmanuel's angle, but then I think we should just establish the fact that everything works for different people in terms of it could be for influencing money's involved, yes, it could be for that's how they like their style of journalism to them because there's no good or there's no there's to me, one thing I've understand with social media journalism these days is there's no good or bad to it. Anything you feel like works for you is your page, anything you feel works for you works for you. People like saying bad news every day, exactly, yeah, because it creates more excitement, but yeah, and I just wanted to move on from there. I just felt like to bring it up because, like I said, me, I'm seeing it from a media perspective of you know how exciting it used to be in times of getting major stories in football, you know, and how it is right now. Like to me these days, once I just see the top dominication from X, like I've gotten the story I needed already. I'm not excited about any story anymore, it's just what it is, right? Right, uh just fine, we've established that. I want us to move forward right now because of our time. I'm sure we are all busy guys and we've got other things going for for us quickly. I want us to look into Chelsea, I don't want us to look at Arsenal yet. I mean, I think that should be like the the the the I the major thing we're gonna look at, you know, towards the end of the podcast today. I want us to look at Chelsea, you know, quickly. And um not let's not gonna lie. I'm a Chelsea fan personally, and I'm not going to lie. Coming into the season, I came with a huge expectation, I came with high expectations, judging from the fact that Chelsea finished fourth at the end of last season going to the Club World Cup, you know, beating Almighty Parents and Germain in the final of the Club World Cup, you know, coming to a new season. I think I remember speaking to Saucy about it at the beginning of the season, how excited I am. You know, we played two preseason friendlies before the season started, and we smashed everyone in the I think we played against Biale Bakusin. I can't remember the other team we played against. Like everything was just looking beautiful, you know, with the introduction of um Best of our Wheeling at the time, you know, Git Enzo. We thought oh, everything is gonna be you know amazing this new season. Then you know, the season became a roller coaster, you know, results started going bad from the day we beat this sheriff Barcelona, you know, after that game, you know, ending you know, five um three goes to nil to Chelsea, and from there, you know, they went eight games, winning one game in eight games. Enzo Mariscal is in his job, Learn. My tech broke to the job, you know, doing his thing. You know, Chelsea became a team that has lost five games in a row. They they lost about six games in a row with no wins at some point. We're not scoring as well. You know, it was a really, really bad season for Chelsea, not gonna lie, performance-wise, result-wise. Chelsea's a team that all the team they played against in the Premier League run like they had Chelsea did not all the teams Chelsea played against the Premier League after run Chelsea. It shows how bad the intensity was, even within the team, with three managers, because if we include the interim manager talking about Mac Felon, I mean now Chelsea have signed. Um now they say they're not gonna sign the head coach anymore. They're trying to, you know, readjust their policy in terms of getting a proper manager, trying to infuse you know, um, senior characters into the team as well, not just young players anymore. So I want to start from you going into this new season. Um and in a way, too, I'm glad Chelsea did not make the um, you know, the Champions League of the Europa League or the conference because I feel you know, with the new manager coming in, he's gonna need time to implement his ideas. Um, what do you think was the major problem with Chelsea? Fine, we established some of these things in the last episode, but I don't want to go so much in the problem because I think we all know what the problem is right now. But how can you think this problem can be solved going to the next season and with the fact that they've established themselves with a new manager talking about um Shabi Alonso? Do you think his philosophy, his philosophy is gonna you know be adopted in the club and going to you know push them forward going to next season or they're still playing? Find the not signed player, it's just the end of the season. We all establish the fact that it's a bad season. How do you think they can you know get better with next season, going into next season and with what they've done so far at the end of the season?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, like I feel they have started like rectifying their mistakes because this is what happens when you have businessmen in charge instead of football. Well, because they have been treating just like a business model, a football club, because their policy of signing, you know, players, young players, players that have not really, you know, shown what they can do, like putting it in the prospect of okay, let's sign potentials, let's have potentials because they they are not there, they didn't sign. There's like you know, there was no point in the whole system from top to bottom that we had winners. Players, none of them were winners. Head coach, they try to start Mareska button, Rosenia, not proven. Directors, not proven. Owners, they have no idea on what they're doing. So now I think they have seen that okay, we cannot succeed like this because they made a mistake by letting Maresca go. Because I'm sure maybe when they signed Mariska at the beginning, maybe they told him that we just be head coach. I'm sure that you know he had proven himself, you know.

SPEAKER_06

That's the conversation they had, obviously.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah. Maybe now, but now he had proving himself like okay, won the conference league, won the pro board cup. Maybe he wanted now, he wanted more control. Maybe like he wanted more power in terms of, okay, I want to sign this kind of players. This is the kind of people I want. But when they were not having that, and they front, they thought it would be better to let him go. And they saw that, okay, that was not the way to go. So from them changing their policy and signing Alonso as a manager instead of a head coach, they have seen that okay, we cannot survive or cannot move forward if we keep this old policy by saying, Okay, we're only signing your players. So I can't really say much on next season. Like Alonso will start his job like 1st of July. Yeah. So until I see, okay, these are the players that they want to sign, or these are the players that okay, that we are going for, then I can't really say how next season will be. But for now, I think it's a good start. Alonso, you know, from his resume, what he did in Germany Unbeaten won the leader title, uh, unbeaten, you know, against the giants like Bayern. Real Madrid, now that you know, the way we say Real Madrid now, we know that Alonso actually did a an okay job. Yeah, they say Roman button is it's not it's not an it's not it's not an easy place to go. So many egos, so many players that they think that their brand is bigger than the club. So from the we mess that Real Madrid is, we know that okay, Alonso, you know, is the is a top guy. So it's a good start, and I'm excited to see what he will do. And like you said, I'm also happy that we're not even in the conference league or Europa. I think it's like you know, but now we can it's a much of a distraction, but now we can focus on rebuilding and getting back to the form that we make Justin Reach.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, thank you very much, Sorcy. Um Sheriff, um, we were talking about something before we we we started the port earlier on. You know, you you made a point about, you know, alone so no if we talk about in terms of his tactics as a manager, you know, uh we can say oh he has what he takes, you know, the way he wants to set. I think he likes to set up his team like a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, but it started with that at Real Madrid, then he switched to more of like um a 4-4-2 or 4-3. I think he adjusted at Real Madrid because of the kind of players he has and as well. I'm not even I'm not even going so much into tactics right now. He made a point about if you're not able to stamp your authority at Real Madrid, because to me, I don't feel him being sacked at Real Madrid was resort-based. I think it was more you know not being able to handle the dressing room and the eagle clash, regardless of the eagle clash, and if these players are young players as well. And coming to Chelsea before you come in, sorry, let me just let give you a lay down. So coming into Chelsea right now as well, this is the same age range with Chelsea players, technically, if we say we should look at it in hindsight, because the likes of Enzo Fernandez, I don't we don't know if he's gonna be in Chelsea next season because I saw him waving to the fans yesterday, and uh, we don't know if he's gonna remain at Chelsea. But if someone like Liam Rosinio could not handle a Chelsea dressing room, do you think, regardless of um Shabby's um resume in terms of his manager and his playing career, do you think he's gonna be more respected? Do you think because it didn't work out at Real Madrid, Chelsea for sure is gonna work out? Do you think he can you know handle these guys? Do you think he can impute his statistics immediately and you know the absorption? Because if you look at his resume, he has a better resume than even Enzo Maresca, both as a player and as a manager, he has a better resume than Liam Broseno, he has a better resume than Marisel Pochettino. Do you get what I'm saying? So, what do you do how do you feel is going to excel or chelsea, or do you think is it's been set up for you know failure as well, especially being a Chelsea manager, not a head coach of this time around? Um, Farouk, let me let me let me come to you and let me get your take on this um you know um Chelsea situation. Um, he made he made a point about Enzo Fernandez not you know not being a member of the team if we want Chelsea to succeed going into next season, yeah. Right. So if we're talking about Enzo Fernandez and his numbers, I don't think there's any midfielder in the Premier League that has the numbers of Enzo Fernandez in the last two years. He's contributed to 20 plus goals and assists. I'm not saying his total 20 plus goals and assists in the last two seasons as a midfielder in the Premier League, and I'm not sure there's plenty of midfielders that have the numbers of Enzo Fernandez. In fact, without Enzo Fernandez numbers, I don't think Chelsea will finish 10th this season. Do you think he's also a major part of Chelsea's problem, especially this season and the role, the kind of interviews he's granted? You know, talking about he wants to play um in the in this in in Spain, um, um talking about uh I think um the Madrid obviously said is is somewhere like um is siding Argentina and also Faruk also made made a point of oh getting enough back in for the manager. How do you think Chelsea can get better going to a new season and stop this chopping and changing up a thing?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I think going into a new season, uh they need to like give the coach like a lot of time because Chelsea right now is a wrecked boat. Like, no, the Chelsea we used to know this is like a very worse season for Chelsea, and uh a new manager coming in, it's just like meeting new players, and you know, you need to like watch these guys play, understand their games, and know the kind of players he's going to be using coming uh next season. So Chelsea needs to give him a lot of time because the Chelsea we all know Chelsea can give you a job for three months, two months, and they will like you know, if you're not doing it, they will get a new coach. And uh, so I think they will need to like give him a lot of time. I think someone mentioned about you know, right now Chelsea is not like they're not they are not competing for the league, they are just competing for like the top four. And I think what the person said is like is very like right, like uh they need that consistency first, and then from there they can start talking about okay, we want to like compete for the league, we want to compete for this and that. So for the new season, it's going to need a lot of time, and uh, it's going to need a lot of backing from the uh from the old board as well because uh there are some players that uh they think they are bigger than the club. Let me put it that way. And they they just feel like okay, uh why would you tell me this? Do you know do you know the kind of things I've won? And but I think Alonso, Alonso should be able to like control that room because him as a player has won a lot, and being the coach as well, is like is it digital in Bayern Leverkusen, and we also see what he did at uh Madrid, even though I don't think he won anything at Madrid. But I think the main issue at Madrid was just the issue of like not him being able to like control the whole room, uh dressing room and everything. So the board needs to like give him uh and also like a lot of power to be able to like you know speak to these players, anyone that's not like doing okay, regardless of who you are, if you are. I think that's why I like uh a coach like Moreau. And I think that's the major reason why Madrid is like wants Moreau to come in right now. I don't think More is like a long-term plan for Madrid, they just want him to like migrate like you know, the way the dressing room is right now. They need someone to like you know control everything, and that's the kind of player Moreau is. More can put you in in five minutes, if you do something stupid, it's gonna take you out again. And I've seen we could do this like two, three times. So like, you know, like control the whole situation in Madrid right now.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah, absolutely. And I and I think and I think that is what I was enjoying with um making a test accurate.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so yeah, like you said as well, like that's it's alright. I'll take it, I'll take it, I'll take it. It's alright. I'll take it, I'll take it.

SPEAKER_06

So like he was trying to do, bro.

SPEAKER_01

In the world of football right now, you can't count like ten managers that are like five. So you just have to give the one you have chance. Like, and I I didn't even understand why Chelsea tag Mareska till today.

SPEAKER_06

I don't understand the reason why like in in in Chelsea's defense, like I was saying earlier on, I think Mariska know what knows what he's doing as well. Because obviously, he has the city jobs in one eye, he just needed Chelsea to build the CB for a bit. Yeah, so as much as they had a disagreement, I think Maresca too wanted to leave because it's he's been speaking to Man City, like I said, for months, even before because the news already lit at the time he was before he was sacked that he's been speaking to Manchester City, and this is boiling down to the world club court uh you know, club world club's uh success. So Immanuel, just to cap this Chelsea situation up, finally, Farouk and um Sheriff made some points of about you know uh Enzo Fernandez, and I also brought it up earlier. You know, he made some some big players in Chelsea. As a Chelsea fan, you that you are what do you think deserves? Mention like at least five, six players that you feel deserves to remain at Chelsea going to this new season, and the ones you don't want to see anymore, and also it's not possible to to one thing we need to understand as football fans is a team cannot they can't do a total overhauling of a team because a new manager is coming into place. You have to work with the ones you have, and I think that's one of the major problems because I don't know how Enzo Maresca accepted the fact that the likes of Jal Felix, the likes of Viega, the likes of um Nicholas Jackson, like so many notable guys that helped us last they had to leave at the beginning of the season, and we now have to you know rebuild again with the likes of Gaintons, Esteval, Ganacho, like so. It just seems to me like there was there was a regression and not a progression in terms of the notable signings. In terms of the signing going into the next season, what are the things you want to see? Which of the players would you like to see? You know what these guys can help us going to the new season and you know stuff like that?

SPEAKER_04

So just like you said, to cap it off, you know, players I would like to see stay or leave.

SPEAKER_03

All the keepers leaving. Keep the midfield like if the angel, the high schedule, if the angry center. I'll keep co-fama.

SPEAKER_04

Happy to leave like the natural feature. We definitely need goalkeeper, like in total overhaul of our goalkeeper. In total overhaul of our goalkeeper. Right back position, keep game. To be honest, just let go. Just let him go. You know, keep kukuela. I'll still keep kukuela. You know, I mean as long as I correct you. If I should talk about the cukuella and the um what's his name? Kukuela and Kopama situation. I think it's something I mentioned. I don't know if I mentioned in the last podcast. I'm like, your team affects you. Like, these guys, there's no matter how good you are as a player, if you are consistently played in a team that is trash, it gets to a point you start playing trash as well. It's gonna rub on you, it's definitely gonna rub on you. So, look, we all know Kofama deep hundreds, but on a good day, we know what that guy can offer us. We know how that guy can play if it's in a good team, we know how long that guy carried the injury affected him. I think injury plus the team is a 50-50 team for me. Even with the injury, yeah, yeah. Even with the injury, if he played among a good team, it will not show, it will not show much. You understand? Yes, it's the team. 100% is the team. Kopama walks into your Barcelona, Kopama will walk into a a prime Kopama walks into your Barcelona team and starts.

SPEAKER_06

Go and check last. How old is Copama is having a prime?

SPEAKER_04

Yes now, yes now. The prime when he was in his prime, when it was Kopama is in the prime when he was playing good football. Prime doesn't have to do with age now. Prime doesn't have to do with age of course the same affair.

SPEAKER_02

And what do you think is the cost of the why do you think it's bad?

SPEAKER_04

I don't think the players got to lose the marascot. What do you mean what do you mean it's psychological? What is the cause behind the psychological effect? That's what I'm saying. For me, that's why I said it's that's why I said it's 50-50. Guys, you understand? And the team is playing well, it will not, he won't be as bad as he is in our face right now. You understand? Nothing away from Ko Palma. I think I realize Kopama is a lazy player. I'm not disputing that part. I think he can do more. You understand? I think he's not challenged.

SPEAKER_06

You know, in terms of in terms of lazy, one thing I've seen, sorry, before you continue the your your evolution of the team and Copama, one thing I've you know, I've said this a couple times, like a lot, a lot of time. The way I say Copama, yeah, I see him as a clutch player. And if you're talking about clutch players, they don't have to be so involved in the team. That's why I would disagree with the lazy a little bit. So why I said clutch players, the beauty about clutch players is they don't have to do much, just give them the ball. They take yeah, they are like Maverick in the team, they are X Factors in the team. They don't have to, they don't have to be on the ball for so long. Just give them one pass, one go, that's it with them. And we've seen moments like that a whole lot of time with Copama. You can talk about the Club World Cup final, we can talk about the game against Man City last season. Like, it's got loads of those moments. They are moment players, and I think that's the kind of player Copama is. Copama is one of one of the things I appreciate. About Kopama before the season is he doesn't do too much on the ball, just pass the ball one time, one touch pass, one touch pass, give him the ball, he would take the pass, give it one person and pass. But this season, after his injury that he had at the beginning of the season, because it was we're hearing he was having loads of you know um tyroid problems or um um is he is he was having armstrings and he was having issues with his um growing growing areas rather his groin injury and all you know, he was having loads of injuries, and the problem I felt he had when he came back from that injury was he was holding on to the ball too much, right? The the moment he's meant to make decisions, he's thinking too much about all this. And I think this kind of thing affected Bukasaka at some point too. But I don't want to bring Taka into this conversation. We're talking about Chelsea and Cole Palmer. Like, is injury affected Chelsea a lot this season?

SPEAKER_04

Because, like I said, what do you mean by he's holding the ball too much? Bro, when I say clear is holding the ball too much, like the way the way the way I see it, the way I see it is lack of trust of the team player. If I trust you and I get the ball, I release the ball once.

SPEAKER_06

So, but what happened to the last two? What about what happened to like the last two seasons? He's been doing that without any problem.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I'm saying. That it gets to a point. This guy has carried his team on his back for too long, and he goes, he just gets to a point whereby he's like, you know what, I don't just trust you. So he has to think twice before he does think.

SPEAKER_07

I think there's a lot of factors involved. No, there's a lot of factors involving it, aside from the aside from the injuries, it's bad because the team is bad.

SPEAKER_06

Start you saying something, starting with the thing.

SPEAKER_07

Like I was saying, like aside from the injuries, there are a lot of factors. Like if you look as a mentality kind of player, and you know, facing the injuries they had anyway, then losing my red card, even if you look at the cards, no, they're not getting over losing my rest card.

SPEAKER_06

I think we've they've created an excellent camaraderie in the team and with um you know um Ezomaritka involved as well, it's kind of a guy.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, even as uh if his personal personality cross, it would have not been this bad towards the end of the if this is because players they are like people forget, they're also human beings, they have emotions, they are feeling. And if if you just like if as a human being, if you're not like fully okay, like mentally, like if your emotions are not right, you tend to, you know, you will not be functioning at your full capacity. And that's what happened to a lot of the children players. That's why they were having ridiculous interviews, things like that. Yeah. And true the and you can see it's it's the cost chance was so bad. That's why a lot of players didn't get the colour to the world club. Um it affected their performances from that picture. It affected their performances.

SPEAKER_06

We're talking about the emissions from this world cup. That is that is the way I wanted to get into right now before we talk about Arsenal quickly because time is running. Um, um, Imano, we we we started a conversation. I let me start with Farouk on this one. Um Farouk, are you there? I don't know if you you you you you've seen most of the World Cup, you know, um squads and how it's affected because that's where I wanted us to take the conversation from from Chelsea, then you know, talk about the World Cup, you know, selections and everything. You know, yeah. In all honesty, fine, Chelsea has had a bad season, you know. The likes of Kopama was not gonna be at the World Cup, we are Jao Pedro is not gonna be at the World Cup, Levi Cow is not gonna be at the World Cup. Um Will and Esteval is not gonna be at the World Cup with Brazil because of his injury as well. Um we're not gonna see the likes. So many notable men are going to be at the World Cup, you know, this year. And I think the two I want us to talk about the major trending ones, judging from the Premier League. Because if we see if we go to Spain, I think most of the guys that went to the World Cup deserve to be at the World Cup. Because I don't want to go into the argument in Manuel, and um um I'm sure you started with earlier and with Madrid because it was Danny Cavar that was the major notable omission from the World Cup for Spain national team, and we could understand his injuries and everything that's happened this season. Probably maybe with experience would have been nice to have him there because of the mentality he's won a lot in his career as well. But I don't want to go too much. I mean, most of the Bartonia players they were normal things, Bastina always always comes out of even when they were both in their prime in terms of Bartonia Ram, but the Bartonia players always, you know, they dominate the World Cups and they nominate the Spain national team. So I don't want us to go into that competition so much. But with this Chelsea situation and how he has affected so many of the players from getting into the World Cup, yeah. Um, do you feel like someone like Charl Pedro, with what he has done this season, I'm starting with Faroo, what he has done this season 20 goals, six assists. I don't even want to include three goals at the club World Cup as well, which is technically 23 goals. Do you think it was not a good thing for him to be left out of the World Cup with these numbers? And you have someone like Ryan in Bournemouth that is making the Brazilian national team ahead of him who scored, I think, only two goals this season in the Premier League, with someone who scored 20 goals. What do you think about you know the Chelsea performance and someone like Gel Pedro? Fine, you talk about Chelsea performance. Why Geo Pedro is not making it? Is it about PR that is not enough? Is it because of his team? Or what do you think generally? And do you think it's unfair for someone like that who split the majority of the preseason games? Um the qualified rather for the for the Business National team not looking into the World Cup because in Premier League he had a better season than Guilcarest.

SPEAKER_01

I think he scored more goals, he had like 15 goals, and uh for him to be dropped off the list is is very, I don't know, very horrible. Uh, this guy has been playing week in, week out, and I think he has been consistent for Chelsea as well. I don't think he has had any injury or this, I don't really know much about that, but I don't really understand this election from Brazil, the side of Brazil because him being left out is just, I don't know, probably it's because of the old Chelsea situation, like you mentioned, or for them to even take Neymar, Neymar is a kind of player that's that's not consistent. How would you waste that slot, that Neymar slot, and drop someone like Joe Pedro? Because Neymar is a kind of what do you say? I'm not talking about if you are being sincere, forget let's forget about Bantaya. If you are being sincere, I would never as a coach, I would never take Neymar to the World Cup. He's a very good player, but we know Neymar is not fit at the moment. Nehma can start a match for you and get injured in the next 10 minutes and he's out of the world cup, and that slot is wasted. But that kind of slot, I think Jao Pedro should have Neymar went to play in the World Cup, though, to be honest. How many times have you had Messi go uh been injured and not playing?

SPEAKER_06

Imagine you made a point when we were talking about this World Cup thing about how your team could influence you know this decision as well. And we we use an example of Tomas Truco, you know, following the likes of um Nonima Dweke, um Kayosaka, because of the mentality of winning the Premier League title this season gave them the edge to go to the World Cup. He didn't pick someone like Jared Bowen because his team struggled this season, West Ham, and at the end of the day, they're relegated. And obviously, Kopama didn't have a good season as well, or his team as well, too, didn't give him the grace. Umano, this is speaking to Imano right now. Do you think those teams or is unfair because if we can talk about the team from own angle, but it's the same team that the likes of Malugusto played for? He scored an own goal yesterday, he's going to the World Cup. The same team um Pedroneto played for with his rubbish, he's going to the World Cup. Ganato played for the same team, which he's also going to the World Cup. Do you think it's just the national team manager that are overthinking these things, or it's just the team or not enough PR that didn't make these guys make the world cup at the end of the day?

SPEAKER_04

I think, first of all, they are not overthinking it. I think it's the right decision to make because no matter what that's why I keep saying your team has a major role for you to play. You understand? No matter how good you are, if you are playing in a shitty team, one way or the other, it affects you. You understand? So these guys had an an amazing season, but at the end of the day, because they were in a shitty thing, we didn't really get to see more of them. And at the same time, their mentality is down whether you like it or not. You understand? But why the likes of the Ganachos and the uh what's his name? Gustos are going, it's all about replacement.

SPEAKER_02

Ganacho is gonna go to the Ganacho is going to the World Cup. I think they are I'm not sure to be honest.

SPEAKER_06

I'm not sure. Oh, yeah, but I saw a professional list earlier on this year, um, maybe this month. I think he's gonna be at the world cup. I think so.

SPEAKER_04

Ganacho will be at the world cup because it's all about replacement, you understand. If Gusto doesn't go, you know, as much as he shit, who are you gonna take? Yeah, why the likes of Copama is all about options. Why the likes of Copama didn't make it is because there were options, regardless. It might not, they might not be with her, you understand, but at the same time, you know, there are options that you can all these guys are dead, they might necessarily not be starters in their team, but because they've been around success, you know, it has a way of rubbing off on you, and they'll be like, you know what, it gives you the edge.

SPEAKER_06

Talking about success, I think Noni Madweke is the most luckiest guy, is the luckiest guy in this context.

SPEAKER_04

Noni Madweke 18 months ago would not even dream of being in the 32-man list for the World Cup, and he had 55 players, they picked from 55. You don't understand.

SPEAKER_06

I mean England life nothing.

SPEAKER_04

What impact did Noni really have on the Arsenal thing? I'm not saying he's not good or uh he was useless, but did he really have an impact? Exactly, but why is it in the World Cup? That's what I'm saying, it's your team. Yes, you understand it's your team at the end of the day. You know, that's why I kept saying no matter what in the finals, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Not the championship final as well, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Remember what we kept saying, uh T bag, money and uh netto. We didn't even know who was good in the two of the clubs. But imagine this these two players are the world cup, you understand? So, number one, your team has a major role to play, and at the same time at your countryside, yeah, enough replacement. You understand? So that's for me. I think investment in PR. Investment in PR also matters, you understand. So there are so many things, and I want to quickly mention something, you know. I don't know before we move ahead. Again, when we look at this player, because I was watching something on Sky this day, I ponded it. No, no, no, it was a pod with all these ex-English players, you know, and again, they are like sometimes the wing that particular player is playing affects his kind of thing. True. Taking in consideration uh for few folding, they were talking about few folding, you know, and this guy made a statement that forgotten the guy that was trying to defend him, and he was like, Fording is suffering because he's a sacrificial lamp that has been rotated, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

True, I saw that I saw that podcast, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

They didn't give him a chance to stabilize himself in this position, yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He's been okay from being from the midfield. Exactly.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and at the end of the day, uh Jack of all trade. You understand? So at the end of the day, if I also want to relate it to Palmer, at the end of the day, we are like I think he affects Palmer too in a way. Yeah, they they've rotated that guy. I can't really say this is Palmer's position at the moment.

SPEAKER_02

True, that's another point.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, stop playing for the and we know for the quality, just the kind of positions.

SPEAKER_04

I'll pick a folding over a madwake in any position you want to play them. You understand? I'd pick a folding over a madwick, but at the end of the day, that guy has just been a sacrificial lamb that was just rotated everywhere. And at the end of the day, God himself, how good was Anthony God in this season?

SPEAKER_06

No, I mean you didn't still carry Newcastle to an extent. He had immediate the Champions League. First half of the season, um, I wanted to go into Arsenal finally, like for the day to to discuss, you know, fine. I don't know if Farook is still here because this is he's having a flat battery. Last time I checked, um, which is really painful because this is the moment I wanted him to speak a bit more, but yeah, it's fine. He can lead to join us if he's able to charge for a bit, but and I think we just continue the conversation, but it was nice having him over on the podcast today, right? Talking about Arsenal, finally, you know, 20. I said at the beginning of the podcast, um, 22 years down the line, bro, you know, I use the word Will Dana a lot. It's just like the Israelite, you know, and you know, finally being able to get over the line, excuse me, winning the the the the English Premier League, um, you know, over the almighty um Pep Guardiola. This is the second time a team is you know finish night of Pep. It's the second in the Premier League. This is the I think out of ten years that he is been in the Premier League, it's finished, um, he won six Premier League titles, he lost one to Chelsea, um, two to Liverpool and one to Arsenal this year, which is the final season for Pep Cadiola. I think um, you know, it's it's it's a huge, huge, huge um one for Arsenal winning the Premier League after making second in the last three years, you know, to finally winning it. Right. So, I mean, we could talk about you know the way Mikel Ateta went pragmatic this year, less creative football, and then they started utilizing long throws, corner kicks, or different style of approach just to make sure you know the most valid thing to them this season is winning, and thankfully they have a solid defense, you know, with um Gabriel and Saliba at their back line, during Timba doing his thing, and the left back could be Calafury or Ncampia, and and in the back line they've got uh amazing um David Raya who was the you know um best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season, right? Do you think um I'm gonna start with like I said, I'm not sure if Sheriff is still on the um Farouk is still on here, but Sheriff, I'm starting with you on this one with the Arsenal defense, they say attack win you games, defense win you title. Is that the definition of Arsenal this season, or you think it was just one of those seasons where every other person is not good enough and they uh they were able to run through, or do you think because there's been conversations like you know they've benefited from refereeing decisions the whole of the season, you know, the the the goalkeeper situation against Man United at the beginning of the season, the Crystal Palace game where you know Kayaba should have been recorded, the game against Chelsea in the first leg where um I think Chelsea should have gotten the penalty with Declan Rice handling the ball in the box and um you know having a go at Gerinato, you know, um different different reference decisions seems to have favored him one way or the other season, no penalty conceded and 38 games, no red card conceded. Do you think everything just went well for us now, be it the way they win their games, the reference, or it was just their season to win it, right? Imano, um yeah, Emmy, I was I was actually coming to you because it seems like you shared the same school of thought with um with um Sheriff on this because we talked about in the last podcast um where you know you said the brand of football Ateta is playing is is an eyesore. But what I want to say is we've seen this same Ateta play amazing football, and I feel like he has that in his in his arsenal, you know, to if he wants to go all out. And I just felt like there's nothing bad being pragmatic if you want to. Ozemurio that was saying today is a pragmatic manager as well. But I just feel like is there anything bad in doing what you have to do to get what you want?

SPEAKER_03

No, that's nothing bad.

SPEAKER_04

I mean to be honest, yeah. Like you said, I I kind of reason with the way or the things um but thinking trade might have to take that statement because my previous statement is that's not it because every other person is shit. Right. But you know, looking at it technically, you can't say the league is shit and they are in the final of all European competitions. So how hard is shit? How can you say Premier League has fallen and they are in the final of the Champions League, they won the Europa, they probably won the conference, they are doing well in Europe. So, you know, that gives me a little bit of maybe I want to redraw that statement. But yeah, I think the league, as far as Premier League is concerned, was below power because I think in the last ten years, this is the lowest point the winner has won the lead in the last ten years or five, I'm very sure.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely, you know.

SPEAKER_04

So again, what do we have to say about that? That means something has definitely dropped. You understand? So it's it's quite a dicey one. I think every other person will shit at the same time because uh you know, I don't think the competition was there. You understand? I don't think if I use it in my own words, I would say City stop fighting for the league. I wouldn't think about the league. City stopped fighting for the league. But that doesn't take anything away from Arsenal. So I think the league, the Arsenal were kudos to them. I mean, they did what they had to do. I don't think the manager did anything special to be honest. I don't think he was being pragmatic, I don't think he played any special formation. I just think they just got away with a lot of things, and I can also agree and argue the fact that some decisions went in their favor as well. Like it was obvious, you know, like they had so many decisions in their favor. Again, taking nothing away from their defense. I think they had the best defense, I think their defense was solid, bro. I think City has never had a good defense, even when, like Sheriff said, when they won the league, City almost better than the defense. Yeah, yeah. It's all about uh scoring you, you know. They also had a shitty defense this season. Chelsea's defense was nothing to write home about. The top the top six, you know, they really had a good defense like that. So I just feel they just got away with it. Some things I think I'm not say I won't say they deserved it, but I think they did a little bit more than others. You understand? But at the end of the day, I still think Atleta, the question you asked. I think Atleta can play good football. I don't think he's a great manager, I think he's shit. Still maintain that, you know. But at the end of the day, I think this is a chance. Um, I'll have anyone in my club right now. You understand? It's unfortunate I didn't have time to talk about things. I wanted to talk, you know. I think you know, just to mention on that quickly, I think I Alonso would would I think he can handle the dressing room. I don't think Alonso succeed in Chelsea. I don't want to delve into that. It said you want me to do. But yeah, I will have Atta in my team because I'll have anyone in my team. I'm happy to have Alonso in my team. Do I think he would do well? No, but I'm still happy to have him in my team. No, but talking about us now, I feel I don't feel they deserve it, but I think they just wanted it a little bit more than every other person because every other person was shit. But looking at it globally, so it's just the season should just come and go and be forgotten. So see conclusive, yeah, they are making a point.

SPEAKER_06

Like in terms of um, you know, the brand of football, Arsenal played the season, you know, not eye-catching, not beautiful, you know, all those things. But Sharif doesn't agree with the statement, oh, attack win your games, you know, defense wins your title, because we've seen different things like the likes of Barcelona of the Sword, Biominic of the Sword, PSG of the Sword, you know, coming all attacking football, playing full branded attacking football and winning loads of loads of trophies. But I believe as much as your attack is important, your defense is very, very much important as well because the period where your attack is not giving you that you know source of um you know strength to win games. I think your defense can help you because I felt like if Chelsea had an amazing defense this season, maybe they're not going to be where they are this season, maybe. And which is something that has taken a team like Arsenal over the line, you know, with David Rye keeping about 18 or 19 clean shit this season, you know, which is which is solid. You have you've got Gabriel as well. Um, you know, um Gabriel and Taliba, you know, in the team, you know, with what they've done in the defense this season, you know, being able to, you know, galvanize the team, go on with their 1-0, 1-0, 2-0. Yeah. And so you, you, you, what do you want to say to this?

SPEAKER_07

For me personally, I think, I think they were deserving one else, to be honest. I think they have been the most consistent team in the Prem for the last what four years. Yeah, I know that the standard in quotes of the league was not so good this is. But for me personally, I think you do what you have to do to get results. Results matter at the end of the day. You results matter whether you play haram, whether you outcome your opponent, titles titles matter. Titles you'll be remembered for not how you'll be able to do it.

SPEAKER_02

You can play beautiful football and lose.

SPEAKER_07

You can play beautiful football and lose terribly. And the goal is to get the results, get the team over the line, you know, win the title, you know, because they have carry technology like what for being three years in a row. It's just to go that one step further and get the title. And I think they did that because if you watch the last five games, because I remember at the point when after you know, after RCT won Arsenal, you know, when they were on equal points, it was the next five games. And we saw that Arsenal's pictures were a little bit more favorable.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, true.

SPEAKER_07

And we were having on this podcast to say that okay, you know, Emmy said that Arsenal will not win, that they will not be able to win at West Ham. And we saw what happened at West Ham. We know let's say reference decision was favored then, but the game is the game. The game sometimes it works for you, sometimes it works against you. And this is the especially towards the end, Arsenal just had to Arsenal were just on the you know the winning end in terms of you know reference decisions and you know getting people over the line. They fought for it, they wanted it more, and as a result, they won it at the end of the day. And when I looked at the table, they they won it by about seven points at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, because City lost their last game of the season as well, and they drew everything.

SPEAKER_07

They were not for it at the end. Yeah, so I don't think they may not deserve anyone. I think they deserve to win. And congrats to them. And you know, it has been a long time. 122 years, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So before we I want us to round off right now, finally, um, Imano, do you think they'll be able to do against PSG next week? Um, this weekend, uh the final of the year because now Aston fans are going in for the uh, you know, the big double right now. Do you think they can do against PSG quickly?

SPEAKER_04

I don't think they'll score one goal against PSG.

SPEAKER_03

One goal.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think they'll score one goal against PSG.

SPEAKER_06

So that's your final take. Alright, um, I mean for me, uh I'm sitting on the fence right now. I don't know. I have suffered fast now for this final, and I feel like they're gonna just gonna nick it, maybe maybe one nil or two, one. I don't know. But because it's a final, it could go either ways, and these sort of finals it just reminds me of maybe the Chelsea part of me, whereby you know, when everyone has looked down against us and um we can just come up with a surprise and you know a different approach to the game and just find a way to win. Maybe that kind of Chelsea Man City final in 2021. I'm seeing like Arsenal win one nil.

SPEAKER_07

Because Enrique's stuff did not help him against Chelsea, man.

SPEAKER_04

I think you just love an underdog story.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe, maybe, yeah. Maybe I love the underdog, but a part of me sees Arsenal winning our game like 1-0. And if they win, we're not going to rest on the social media. Oh no, honor us. But yeah, I mean, it's this is it's it's it's been an amazing one today, to be honest. Like, I really appreciate you guys for coming on the Great and Beyond podcast today. It was I really enjoyed it.
