Good morning and welcome to Medicine Wheel Ministries where we challenge the heart, the mind, and the soul to be better human beings for the human experience. I'm your host, Bear. Warning, this podcast is meant for mature audiences only. So please do not listen in the company of children or minors. And anything in this podcast that is direct relation is by coincidence only. All opinions are of my own and my own only. So again, welcome to Medicine Wheel Ministries. I'm your host, Bear. I want to thank all the returning listeners. So, you know, today we want to talk about decency, the human experience. You know, I'm sitting out here walking down the road. You know, you see somebody and just good morning. You know, it's nine o'clock in the morning. I've been on my morning walk now for a couple of hours, just stretching the legs, invigorating the heart, lungs, the body. I really think that people should, you know, do more of that walking and just re-grounding themselves. You know, things are in a great way to just remind ourselves that before there was cars, cell phones, all of these things that make life very fast-paced and just we had our own two feet. We were much more in touch with the earth, we were more grounded people, we had a deeper connection within ourselves. So, you know, I want people to remember there's nothing wrong with doing that. And, you know, science has proven that walking is the most beneficial uh exercise there is for people of all ages. And it's simply we just don't do enough of it. But in the point of being out on my morning walk, I've seen people. I met a lady with her dog, just starting her morning, dog greeted me, had a nice conversation with her pet dog, you know, meet other people, and there's nothing wrong with just saying good morning, nothing wrong with maybe holding a door for somebody. You know, there's things that we need to do to become better people altogether. If one ounce of decency can change somebody's entire day, basically what I'm saying is that if you have one sense of decency, you can change the world. To sit there and say good morning to somebody is a way of maybe changing their day. Having general hospitality is a way that can change the world. We uh tend to forget when we're in this fast pace of life to have just a sense of humility. And in this podcast, I constantly talk about the human experience. So, what we need to do as a people is have that decency, that human experience. Otherwise, all the words that I do in this podcast, and all of you listeners to this podcast, are not really listening to the message. This podcast is about challenging ourselves, becoming more decency as human beings to enjoy the human experience with each other. We have to have an ounce of kindness, people. That's what this podcast is about to become better individuals, to become stronger people. And we've all got trauma, we've all got pain, we've all got loss. But should we allow that to harden our hearts to the point where we're no longer decent people? The Lakota have a phrase called matakiate, it means to all of my relations, and you recognize that you're related to everything, to creation, to life. So why not have that and embrace it? You woke up this morning with a all of your troubles, the things that bother you, good or bad, but did you forget to just stop for a second and tell yourself good morning? See, we are so pushed into immediately grab our phones, like we feel like we missed something important. What is more important than your own home, your own peace? What is more important than just love for yourself, for your children. And you see this simple act of decency starting with yourself in the morning. Good morning, self, changes your entire outlook of your day. Now your kids are getting up or your spouse is getting up or whatever. Good morning. Well, that made you feel better for the day. So now why don't you cast that on just beyond your home? That's keeping the peace in your home. So why don't we say good morning outside of your home? Now you just passed on that grace, that humility, that good medicine to someone else. And now, if they stop and think, they're gonna go, oh, well, good morning to somebody else. Kindness and humility, grace, pass on faster than any wildfire could ever burn. So have decency, have kindness, have compassion, have unity, be human. We could all do things very differently. But why? Why do we do these things that create the racism, that create the strife, that create the hatred, that create the bad medicine, the negativity. We do this on every single level of our life. Every single level. How many of you right now wake up in the morning and grab your phone immediately? You forget to wait to say tell yourself good morning, you don't tell your kids good morning, you don't tell your spouse good morning until after you've grabbed that idiot box, that phone. So you've already started your day in a toxic manner. Because 90% of everything going on in social media is manipulation, it's dumbed down, it's bad medicine, it's oh well, this person was pulled over, or this person got shot, or this happened in the war, or the POTUS said this, or it's just toxic that we just keep giving, as my prior episode talked about, that seed of death, we just continue to feed it, you know, and it is an addiction, and I've talked about that as well. And you know, one of the more popular uh podcasts that everybody listens to is that sense of addiction. Um social media, electronics, video games, those are forms of addiction too. And so when we choose to grab our phone before we even tell ourselves, lest alone those that we love the most, and share that decency, then we are allowing that addiction to still rule our life. Most people think addiction is just in drugs, alcohol, food, whatever. No, our phones, our technology, our laziness, those are forms of addiction as well. And in order for us to grow, in order for us to become stronger, we have to recognize that there's an addiction, and we need to set that addiction down. We cannot allow these things to rule us. We're better than that. You, my listeners, are better than that. We are here learning and growing together. I don't have it all figured out by any means. I don't think anybody has it all figured out, except for the creator. You know, when we learn to set the things that are narcissistic, that are self-serving aside, and we embrace our fellow neighbor. When we embrace the people that we don't know, then we are striving to be the best versions of ourselves. And there's nothing wrong with that. Having decency, having humility, having grace, to the point that we can set aside our things and just say, Hi, how you doing? Have a good day. Open a door for somebody. If you see somebody struggling, you got a mother with kids trying to get out of her car, and you see her trying to struggle, wrangling her kids, and she's trying to get her groceries there, and she's just why don't you offer her help to look to help her? You see somebody that needs to walk into the store and they're struggling, just open the door for them. Having that sense of decency, having those morals. Good morning. That is what this podcast is about. Having a good heart, being a good medicine, and spreading that is what this podcast is for. We have to be better as human beings. I'm not telling you to go grab a Bible and I'm not telling you to believe in what I believe. I'm just saying embrace the human experience. Embrace yourself. Wake up in the morning and say good morning to yourself. Don't grab your phone, don't grab your computer, just tell yourself good morning. Start your day off in a positive manner. And then tell your significant other, tell your kids good morning. Remember, our kids only spend roughly 15% of their life with us. The rest of it, they're out there in this cruel world on their own. So if we give up one hour, one week of that time with our angels, our youth, the next generation, we don't get that back as parents. We don't get that back at all with anything. It doesn't matter if it's just our kids, we do not get time back. Once it's out of the bottle, it's over with. You have to embrace what you can now. Live life to the fullest. Because the only thing we're guaranteed is our death. So therefore, you must embrace your death to fully live. If anything through these podcasts that I've been teaching you, it's about having a sense of grace and humility. Not necessarily to say this is God's way, but this should be our way. A sense of humility and grace can change somebody's entire week. And it will spread from one person to another. So why don't we do it? I just walked by a lady, as you guys heard, on me making this podcast. She was sitting on her porch, head down, kind of distraught, looking at me walking down the sidewalk, and I just said, good morning, and she smiled. That right there is a proof of humility and grace and decency. To do that, to set even that two seconds aside during my podcast, just to show somebody exactly what I'm talking about. I'm walking that path. And sometimes it's hard. Sometimes you're gonna have people that are freaking rude and disrespectful, and you know what? That's fine. Let them be them. It has no effect on your day unless you allow it to. One of my dairy dear friends has all these little things happen to him, and oh well, you know, my former job, they had this going on, or they said I did this, or this is a rumor, and he hangs on to all these little microtoxins that are so disruptive that he'll hang on to him for days. He will hang on to them for days, and now he doesn't get anything done, and then he's mad at himself because he derailed his entire week by allowing somebody else's problem, somebody else's opinion to micromanage and to control his entire week. Wouldn't it have been simpler just to say that's that problem? Let it go. Have a sense of decency, have a sense of respect, and those that can't, let it go. You have no control over what other people say, do, feel, think, or otherwise. You do, on the other hand, have control over yours. And even if that person's like, yeah, whatever, when you tell them good morning, it's gonna still sit in the back of their head going, that person said good morning to me and I was an asshole. So yeah, um, you know, I'm just standing now by the river, well, sitting by the river, just watching the birds and the water trip. You know, if we all could be like this water, just we have our path and we just gently move. And yeah, we'll have times where we're like a tsunami and destroy everything within our lives and everything in front of us, but for the majority of the time, we're just enjoying life, moving forward. I just I don't understand, you know, what's going on in this world at times. I refuse to allow it to change me or who I am or any of that. But I see plenty of times, like you know, these women on Facebook, you know, they're like, oh, I want a great man and I want a decent man and a man who's not just gonna be lustful and want me and all that, but then they have that good man in front of them and they'd rather basically spit in her face. Or they expect that good gentle man to basically candor to her rather than be her upgrade in her life. They just expect him to be, well, you're gonna pee this or you're gonna do this. Well, no, that's not having an actual relationship, that's not even being decent, or the best one yet is women that basically say, Oh, I want a good man who ain't gonna abuse me or hurt me or all this, but then when they're in a sack with a guy, they want the guy to slap them or choke them or something else like that. So you want a good man to still abuse you. Well, that ain't decency either. That ain't kindness, that ain't humility. It's just craziness. Craziness. So I want you to take a deep evaluation of your day-to-day, and I want you to take a deep evaluation of your life. What can you do to take the pressure off yourself? What can you do to be a better person? What can you do starting with yourself? I'm not asking you to go out and donate millions of dollars to this or this or this. I'm not asking you to go and buy a couple hundred dollars in groceries and hand it out to the homeless. I'm not asking you to do anything like that. I'm telling you just to start with one step. Wake up in the morning and just say good morning to yourself. Say good morning to those that are closest to you. Be decent, have humility, have grace. And it takes a long time to develop this as a habit because you have to break other habits. And according to some studies, three weeks and others, two months to develop a new habit and break old ones. So just have the try. Just try. Don't grab your phone first, say to yourself, good morning. Do your morning routine to care for yourself before you allow the chaos of the world to poison the start of your day. And if we make just one small step, starting with just ourselves, and then we carry it forward, now we are going to tell our spouse or our children good morning. No other reason than just saying good morning. It's not just the power of being decent to ourselves and our self-care, but the power that that brings for having that good morning and that decency, just to start with yourself, can actually heal wounds. When you learn to appreciate yourself, when you learn to love thyself, when you do that, you end up with grace. And when you have grace, nothing in this world can come into your armor. Because your grace to that sense of decency feels right to you, it feels wholesome to you, and when you start spreading that to other people, you help them heal, you heal relationships that may have been poisoned or hurt when you were just a child. You know, I didn't have a perfect childhood. And I spent a lot of years trying to figure out where I belonged in the world. Sense of loss, sense of heartache, sense of pain, sense of betrayal. And there was abuse that happened. Things that should have never happened. Things that limits got pushed, and the pushback was more extreme than what it should have ever gotten to. But those wounds have healed. And forgiveness is there, and grace is there. And the repair of that relationships, even though as cautious as it may be, still is happening, even to this day. Because in the end, what we've got to do, remember, is that if we just live yesterday, we can't have tomorrow. It's never too late. It's never too late to allow ourselves a sense of peace. So as I sit here making this podcast for y'all, you've heard me be decent at people already. You've heard me tell somebody good morning. You've heard, you know, I'm standing, I'm sitting here by the river, a little bit of breeze in the air, watching the water ebb and flow. I'm grounding myself. And I'm sharing that decency with you. I'm sharing that compassion with you. I'm sharing that humility with you. And ultimately, I'm sharing my peace with you by having grace. I want to thank all my listeners for coming back and hearing me rambling on sometimes like a drunken chicken. But some of these things are so passionate to me. I just want to hammer the lessons that I've had to learn the hard way. You know, I burned a lot of bridges in my life. Hurt a lot of people. Hurt myself more than anybody else could. I had so many toxic, abusive women in my life because I felt that I didn't deserve anything better. I truthfully believed that I wasn't worth anybody else's grace, decency, humility, time. So I chose toxic people to give me what I felt was the only thing I deserved in this life. And now that's the old me is dead and gone, as the song says. And I started closing doors off. And when I did that, I lost it all. Because the creator said, nope. This ain't your path. All my life I've had a sense of what I'm supposed to be doing, and I've ran from it my entire life. Until the last few years. And finally I'm now in taking all the lessons that I was raised with, all the lessons that life taught me. And just simply having a sense of decency and grace for myself. Embracing humility. And refusing anything to invade my peace. Like us on Facebook at Medicine Wheel Ministries. I'm going to go uh get me another can of Copenhagen and enjoy my rest of the morning sitting here by this water. I'm your host, Bear. Coming from you, from the Midwest of America, and I want to say be good to each other and be good to yourselves. Until next time, take care.
