Thank you. And spring is when baseball season starts. And exactly there's nothing I love more than baseball and my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers. But this isn't entirely about me, but it kind of is because this is a good episode for you guys to learn a little bit about me and Nikki. So I started something on Fangirl called Five Fun Facts. And I know Nikki, you've definitely seen it. And when you were a fangirl, because back when we had fangirls for NFL and NBA teams, Nikki was indeed a fangirl. And Five Fun Facts has been a series that's been on Fangirl Sports Networks pretty much since the beginning. And it's something I've done with Ford Adders players and all the things. So it gave us the idea that this would be a fun top five episode. Very summer focused, sporty and summery, but getting to know Nikki and I and the things we love, and then we want to hear back from you if these are the things you love. And so I'm calling this our slander and slay top five. And that little song I just made up with my voice, we are going to copyright that. What let's make it uh audio drop. So since we're talking summer and Nikki is summer, we were thinking your top five summer pool party, beach party wines, and not so much brands, though that can be, but kind of like that first sip of summer. Like let's look at it. We're looking for a feeling. What is your like I know what mine is, but I would like to know what is your number one first sip where you know it's summer.

I'm talking, you've been at the beach all day, you've gotten a little sunburnt, you're going home because you got a shower and you have dinner plans. But while you're showering and getting ready, you need a get ready beverage. And that that glass of chilled rose, that little homemade cocktail, that's that's my first sip of summer.

See, rose to me is summer, and I entertain. I love having a Memorial Day weekend yet together. And I always make sure there's plenty of rose. I've been very into Hampton water, which also they drink on Summer House. And if you guys have been listening to the show, you know this is something Nikki and I love to discuss. But there is something to me about Rose that just says summer. And oddly enough, if it's November, I feel like I can't drink Rose. That's so fair. Are you so is our one-one Rose right now? I think our one-one is Rose. One-one was definitely Rose. My two, personally, is at said dinner post-peech, showered, gotten ready, you're now your dinner plans. I'm moving on from Rose. I had that during the day. I had that while I was getting ready, but not in the bathroom because I won't bring drinks into the bathroom, but that's like a whole different conversation. But I've had it. Now I feel like I want a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.

Oh, okay. Are we st and I'm sorry, are we sticking to wines right now? We can have whatever you want. It is your summer cocktail. Nikki, you go crazy. All right, all right, all right. A good Sabi B can't go wrong. Now, another drink that screams summer to me. Actually, this is Tracy, this might be my one-one, but we're gonna go with it at three because you can only have it's it's very time and place coded. But you're you've just landed at a tropical summer getaway, and you pull, you dropped your bags off in the room, you got ready, you're down at the pool, hadn't maybe you got reservations at at a beach cabana, and your favorite your your pool side server comes up to you. What what can I get you? I gotta go with a pina colada.

Oh my god, can I tell you a really fun pina colada story? Yes. Okay. When I turned, I my birthday's in January, and I turned 21 one year, and promptly like the next week, not for my birthday, but for something work-related, went, because I was interning, because I was 21, went to Miami and went to a dinner with the people I was working with. Again, I'm the intern, so everyone's a lot older than I am, and the server comes over and says, Can I get you guys something to drink? And now I'm like, I'm 21. I don't even have to like, hey, I'm really 21. And I'm like so excited.

And I said, Can I please get a pina cohada?

It's like, Tracy, act like you've been here before.

And then I was devastated because she didn't even card me. And my boss said, I would have carded you strictly on the way that you asked for that pina colada. But I think she, I think she felt why I was so excited. But I literally, it was so funny. I think of that every time I hear pina colada, which is a favorite trick.

I want to order it with that enthusiasm and nothing less.

Well, I think everyone should order it with that enthusiasm. A pina colada is, you are correct. It's very time in place. It's joy. You're not ordering that, even if you're in a tropical bar in December, you're not ordering a pina colada unless you're in like the Bahamas in December, then you might do it. But it's very time in place. It is joy, so it should be ordered with joy. So I encourage all of you at one point this summer to sit down and say, Can I please get a pina colada?

Right. You don't even need and and to be related, like, do you don't need a plane, you don't need, you don't need a resort, you don't, you just need the energy. You need a pina colada energy.

Okay, well then I get to go first. Fourth. Aperol spritz. However, I discovered something a couple summers ago in Los Angeles, and it's a lemon cello spritz, and now I'm putting it above the Aperol.

Okay, should we do spritz as in general? And for I saw of the way. I might have a lot take about spritzes. Here we go. Listen, they're fun, they're colorful. I think they have a place in that solely as kind of a gateway beverage. I think it's a first beverage when you're transitioning into maybe a dinner. This could also be a get ready drink or a first drink at as you sit down at a patio in the afternoon. I can't do more than two. I can do one. Apriol's a little bitter, but I've convinced myself I like it. You should try the lemoncello. I should try the lemon cello. And that Hugo I dabble with from time to time. What's that? What's Hugo? Oh, Tracy, you haven't tried a Hugo Spritz? No, what is a Hugo spritz? Oh, okay. You're going, I mean, this is on your your new menu or ordering bucket list, I should say. You need to order a Hugo spritz. I don't even know. It's some sort of combo. You're like, girl, what is it? I think it's more like I think I need a little more information before I order. Hugo Man of Mystery. I think it's like it's a little bit more minty refreshing. Let me I love minty. Yeah.

Okay. Kind of like a uh what's that drink with the rum and the mint? Is it a mojito? A mojito. Yes.

I think it's mojido adjacent. Yeah. Okay. Okay. It's a botanical alternative to the classic Aperol Spritz combining prosecco, elder flower liqueur, club soda, and fresh mint. So yes.

We're at five. I'm thinking about just the classic barbecue energy of summer. And you know, there's nothing better. We should also say neither of us are beer girls, but a lot of people do love a nice cold beer hanging out in the backyard. I'm gonna go for a hard plot twist here, and I don't know how you're gonna react to it, Trace. Oh wow, this is big. Every 4th of July, my sister and I make red, white, and blue or red and blue jello shots. Okay.

I'm putting that, I just did a pivot in my mind so many ways. It was like, hey, listen, we've got your RIs. We've talked about this draft pick for so long. And then I was like, nope, you know what? We're gonna go for jello shots.

You're basically the Rams picking Ty Simpson at 13 is basically what used to sit there. That's basically what should happen. We've got everything we need. Let's add a little bit of fun to the mix. I love it. I absolutely love it. And I'm gonna I'm gonna make a note on beer. Not a big beer girl, but at the ballpark in the summer, four o'clock game, not a one o'clock game, not even a seven o'clock game, four o'clock game, you give me a nice cold beer every day at a four o'clock game at the ballpark.

And I also can be convinced into at least posing with a corona or a Pacifico from time to time.

Because they do look like crazy. Well, you are you are in you are a content girl. You know what's up. You know what's up. For the bit. But I used to actually, you know, it's funny now that you say that, I used to love a corona with a lime. I just love it during the summer, and a Stella. And then let me tell you my like fear of choice that sometimes surprises people, but an Alakash White delicious, absolutely delicious. And that is one plot twist here, not my plot twist, you can have any time of year. An Alakash White is good September, November, March, July. I mean, I'm really into singing songs today, but you can have an Alakash White at any time and really enjoy it. So there is my plug for that. And there's our top five summer beverages. And that leads us very well into our top five baseball park food, snacks, and traditions. And I am sorry, but I am gonna start the top five with a tradition I hate. And so it's not in the top five, but I I have to get this off my chest because it really means a lot. I hate the wave. I absolutely hate it. I love it. I love it. I hate it. I will not let the people if I brought you to the game, you're not allowed to do the wave when it comes by. Like I think it is the worst. And also, why are we waving while our pitcher is pitching? Why are we distracting our guy from pitching? So, anyways, I have to just I had to get that off my chest right off the bat because we're gonna be talking baseball, and I just need everyone to know that I hate the wave.

But I like waving at people, but I think this might be the end of our podcast as we know it, because I am fully participating in the wave every time it comes around.

Okay, but here's the question: Do you do if you're working, do you do the wave? Depends who's around. Depends who's around me.

Depends who's around me. But I think it's so gimmicky and so ludicrous that, like, yeah, I'm gonna do it. And I know the base, the base, I know the seam heads, the baseball diehards think it's like the biggest blasphemy. I think it's hilarious. I think that I officially a seam head. I really cannot stand the wave. So I just had to say that. You can find me waving all day, every day. I love it. Well, this might be our biggest, our our biggest headbutting thing that we have. My okay, for I know you you talked about a tradition that you're trying to take down. Yep. My tradition that means so much to me, and this is coming off. I go to a Dodger game with my dad every Father's Day. Um, and I will never not cherish standing up and cheering at during the seventh inning stretch with him and my sister. It is so fun, it's joyous, and you know, you don't want to get emotional during those moments, but it's just like that song, that collective moment throughout the ballpark means so much to me. So that's that's what I will always treasure about a baseball game.

And I'm gonna 1A that because in the World Series game three that went 18 innings, we did a 14th inning stretch. But that was so much fun. That to me is also like you don't get that very often. It's such a novelty. That that to me is like also so fun, maybe even more so because it doesn't come around every day. And you get that 14th inning stretch, and there's also this like camaraderie around everyone that's still there. That's like, yeah, we are in this together. We and let's get a 21-inning stretch, let's keep this going. Exactly why that why that's it. Why why why why not? So that's my 1A because a 14th inning stretch is definitely next level. Yeah, we'll go with number two here, peanuts. I I am such a peanut I'm not such a cracker jet girl, but I can be convinced. I certainly could be convinced. But peanuts and the ballpark to me, go handed.

Perfect. And on on the lore of I okay, so I know you well enough, you're not a hot dog person. I don't know. And I don't know if we're gonna listen. I don't know if we're gonna lose listeners because I just admitted that.

Right, right. And on that nature, I think ballpark glizzies are just a staple of any baseball experience. My dad, it's so funny when he comes to games and I'm working, and maybe I'll get to visit him at his seats by like the second or third inning. He's already devoured a dog. Like it's the thing. He walks into Dodger Stadium and he needs a Dodger dog. And so I just equate hot dogs to baseball.

Well, and I think most people do. And people ask me, because I go to so many Dodger games, people ask me all the time, how many Dodger dogs do you think you consume in a season? And I think it's a very easy answer. It would be zero. I don't love it. Zero, zero, zero. But you know what I recently discovered at Dodger Stadium?

Okay, the Dole Whip.

Have you had that? No. It is next level. Also, I don't know if you can get this at other ballparks. They'll do the Dole Whip with Boba, blue boba, and it is just a next level experience.

Well, that sounds like I will be getting that the next time I'm at Dodger Stadium because that sounds divine.

It's over in the centerfield plaza, and there's I think there's one the centerfield plaza, and then one on the very top level of the stadium. So I just am gonna have to recommend the dull whip. I also have to shout out Dalton Rushing's fiance for posting it. Um and influencing me to get it, and that was a plus. A plus. So that's that.

This is just making me think about baseball. And I just I love it so much. I just I can't wait. I can't wait to go back. And I know this is I was at a day game for Father's Day, but thinking about my favorite things of being at a baseball stadium, specifically Dodger Stadium, it's where I've spent a lot of hours. We both spent a lot of hours. I just love it when the sun sets and it's that periwinkle twilight fade. And that to me is one of the most magical feelings, whether it's postseason or not, just to be at the ballpark in the warmth of summer. You don't need a jacket, and you've got kind of that ombre, ombre blue sky above you. That's one of my favorite baseball moments during the summer.

I could not agree with you more. I I have pictures of it, and I'm like, wow, Dodger Stadium is just showing off tonight. For me, it's the most perfect if Otani is up to bat because it feels very iconic to have the ombre with a little pink sky. Yeah. There's number 17. We've just heard Michael Boo Blay, and I am feeling fine because I see that, and I absolutely, I absolutely love it. You know, last Father's Day, I was at Dodger Stadium, they were playing the Giants, and it was the day the Giants signed or traded for Raphael Devers. And the pitcher got scratched last minute because he was part of the trade, and everyone's like, oh my god, this is a win now move. The Giants are contenders. Anyway, I'll just leave it at that.

At number five, we have gotta talk about the trend that's sweeping baseball social media, the tarps off trend. It's pretty I love it. I'm here for it.

Well, in certain ballparks, there's certain groups of certain fan sections that have really basked in the glory of taking off their shirts and using those as rally towels. And I'm here for it. I might actually, you might find me hanging out in a tarp soft section in future ball games. Not me, not me waving my shoot. No, no, just just looking, you know, just hanging out with the dudes.

Just hanging out with the dudes, supporting. Supporting. I love because you know, the rally hat was has been a thing, you know, where you like do your backwards hat and everything. But not everyone's wearing a hat. In theory, everyone is wearing a shirt to start the game. So in theory, in theory, so I appreciate the innovativeness. Innovativeness, but I mean this is one of the things about social media that's fun. Social media definitely has a lot of downsides, but this kind of thing is fun. It just and then it catches fire. It does, it does, captures the hearts of baseball fans everywhere. So I I like this new tarps off tradition at baseball station. Me too. All right, next category. Um, I'm gonna go with so I I there were so many. Um I'm getting excited, nostalgic thinking about summer playlists. There's a a song, I don't know if you've heard doses and mimosas. No. I'm sure you have. I I'm sure you've heard it somewhere. But it is it to me, it's very summer of 2016 and energy. It's like right up there with chain smokers. Chain smokers cross are always, you know, those are just kind of vibes. It's like when you've got when you've got the group together and you're, you know, maybe ramping up. It's it's a really fun, just kind of like we don't care about anything. But I I picked that one to like mix up the genres a little bit. I was gonna go with the what's the Linnard the is it Leonard Skinner or the Home Alabama? Yeah, that one was kind of yeah, great. I mean, that is a great, great, great song. Country, like all these genres. I mean, it's just you can't you can't be sad when it's summer. You gotta listen to upbeat music.

Well, you can be if you're Lana Del Rey, because she has a song called Summertime Sadness, which has never made a lot of sense to me because why is she so sad in the summer? Girl, come on, get outside. So, therefore, there is one person who apparently can be sad in the summer. I do we have a song of the summer yet for 2026?

I don't know yet. You've you've loved Olivia Rodrigo, right? I have loved Olivia Rodrigo. The album is great. There is a lot of there's a lot of sadness in the album, but it's a great album. But the the first single, Drop Dead, is a great song. I don't know if it hits Song of the Summer, but it's such a good song, and I do find myself singing it most times throughout a day. All the time, really. So maybe it is I will literally be doing anything and be like, kiss me and I might drop dead. So I do find, and then I also so lament that I am not a Pisces or a Gemini because I love that Pisces and a Gemini, but I think we might go really nice together. And then it makes me sad that I am not a Pisces or a Gemini, and I've gotta consider changing my birthday.

Yeah, oh, we have totally multiple options. I am bringing these chocolate chip cookie bars that I am somewhat famous among my friend group for making. I undercook them just the tiniest bit, and they are they're gooey, and you can if you're standing by them, they are gone so fast, you're like, what happened to them? I ate them all. It's that kind of thing. So those are like the number one thing I am bringing for.

I need the recipe, first and foremost.

Here's a fun fact it's the recipe on the back of the Nestle chocolate chip thing, but I melt the butter. I don't soften the butter, I melt the butter. I think that's always been my trick. And I use mini chocolate chips and I undercook them slightly and make bars as opposed to cookies. But I'm not gonna I'm not gonna gatekeep here like this is some magic thing I made up by myself. But the melting butter, a friend of mine in college taught me that. It is a game changer.

Well, I'm looking forward to coming to your barbecue when you're back from Europe. Okay. Um, I am bringing food-wise a homemade guacamole, and I don't put a lot in it. I do a very, very simple, I think for a lot of people outside of California, this wouldn't constitute as guacamole. I grew up in Santa Barbara, which is very avocado-centric. So I just do a mashed avo, some salt, maybe a little garlic salt, a lot of lemon squeezing, a lot of lime. And I I just kind of keep it like that. I don't add a lot of the extra. Sometimes I'll I'll do a little chopped tomato and tongue uh chopped tomato and onion. I love I love doing a fresh guac and then chips.

I love your guac because it sounds delicious and refreshing and it doesn't include cilantro. And I am one of the people for whom cilantro tastes like soap.

I don't I don't I'm not a cilantro person because this the taste hangs in my mouth for like 35 hours.

Yeah, not a fan stuff. So your guac sounds delicious. Maybe we need to have a barbecue where you bring your jello shots, I make cookies, you make your guac. So fun. Yes, yes, yes. I know it sounds really, really, really fun. And then I'm trying to think what other food. So I I'm gonna do a couple things. I would I wouldn't bring like a coleslaw potato salad because I don't like mayonnaise. So that's not my jam. I would maybe bring, and I'm not gonna pretend that I made them, but I might have someone else make them or buy them, but a barbecue chicken slider. Sounds good, sounds really, really good to me.

I know really honestly, if you're looking for anything else, we are not your people. Because that is like the best barbecue menu of all time. So I yeah, I don't really know what else you needed to barbecue. So there's there's that. Done. Perfect. So that's though. I will when I have a little summer barbecue. One thing I do like to include because it is a hit with both children and adults alike. Okay. And that is a Sunday bar. I'll do a Sunday bar.

Our barbecue, no, and we're not gonna have ranch because I don't like ranch. So no, like no, no carrots and stuff. So yeah, that's our barbecue. We hope you guys come. We hope you enjoy it. We hope potentially you ate before. That's all that we have for you. Our barbecue. Okay, July 4th is coming up. So what do you have July for traditions besides Katie Paris?

I have recently been included in family festivities that's not my family. Okay. But it makes it so much fun. And I'm going to pretend like these are trad long-standing traditions for me because it was the highlight of my 4th of July last year. But we were um on a canal in Southern California, and apparently it's tradition to wage water balloon warfare on everyone passing through the canal. So we were hitting stand-up paddlers, kayakers, people in Duffies, people swimming. No one was safe from our water balloon arsenal. And that's, I think, my favorite Fourth of July tradition ever. Do we need to have water balloons at our barbecue? I should have said that was what I'm bringing. Because there is no better party than a water balloon party. That's totally fair. Yeah. Oh my god, you guys are barbecue.

It's gonna be so fun. I'm sorry, that was one category ago, but I just keep I keep thinking about it. My I'm gonna say my July 4th tradition, the last few years, I haven't been here. I've been away. So two out of the last three years, I've actually been flying home on July 4th. Okay, which is kind of interesting because you're I'm flying home from a from Europe and they don't really care. However, two years ago, and this is not a tradition because I've done it one time, but it was epic. So I feel like I need to bring it up. In Cannes, France, on July 4th, they do fireworks. Like massive, amazing, gorgeous fireworks, and we watched them from the balcony of our hotel. And I think fireworks generally obviously are a July 4th tradition. And a close friend of my dad's his birthday is on July 4th. So kind of my whole life, we've been celebrating July 4th, and we have had fireworks. But these fireworks, I mean, there were pink ones, so obviously that really spoke to me. But they were beautiful. And they kind of just reminded me, because I think when I saw them, it had been a few years since I had been someplace specifically to watch July 4th fireworks, and it reminded me it's really, they're really cool. I know they have they can be very dangerous, so you have to be really, really careful with them. But when done right and beautifully, they're really pretty cool.

Well, growing up, we always did our backyard sparklers and and fireworks, and I think those are so magical too. And I know some places they're illegal and they're fire hazards, but I I think that's an important tradition for families. And I will never turn down a sparkler. Like I just I love them so much. So um that is a favorite tradition. I'll I'll say though, relating to sports, we've had some big news breaks uh for NBA free agency, always on the happens to be on the fourth of July. And I've spent my uh my fourth talking about Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City or Wound. Do you remember? I think there is one fourth or is the third of July where the Clippers got Kauai, Leonard, Aiden Paul, George. Yeah, so that's you know, how about that for a sports-related Fourth of July tradition? The the new the news drops.

Which actually brings me to another 4th of July tradition that I did actually, I did it last year. I was not flying home on the 4th. I flew home a couple days earlier. I went to a Dodger game on the 4th of July and stayed on combining things and stayed for the fireworks. They lost to the Astros, I think 18 to 1. It was not a great game for the Dodgers, but the the fireworks after kept us there the entire game. Which I'm gonna include in this. So basically, number five is gonna become like 5A B C D E F. But um, we went to a local neighborhood parade with my friend and their kids, and it was it was so fun, it actually was so much fun. The kids had a blast, the the whole thing was great. I think my friend made jello shots, so you would have really appreciated that. We would have vibed. You guys, you would have so vibed. Actually, you and my friend would really, really vibe you guys. I should invite you all to a barbecue, but it was it was so much fun, and then later that day went to the Dodger game, and even though they lost 18 to 1 to the Cheating Astros, the fireworks after were fun. It was fun to be there on the 4th of July, and it was fun because everybody stayed. Like, usually an 18 to 1 game in July, people are like, I think I'm gonna beat the traffic home. But for this, everybody stayed, and that was very cool.

Top five things to do with your friends in the summer. Okay, one one, go to the beach. Yes, that's very summary with your friends. Do you are you like a volleyball player at the beach?

Are you just lying out at the beach? What is your what is your chance? I'm doing all the activities. I I can't sit still for very long. I'm in the water. I'm getting sand in my hair. I'm getting my hair wet. I will have sand in my ears. There's sand in my sheets. I I live near the beach. It's part of the ethos at this point. And yeah, we're playing volleyball. So all the activities and bringing card games, all the things to keep keep us engaged. I'm not good at laying out or laying still for very long. What about you?

I love a really nice rooftop at sunset in the summer. That is a fun thing to do with your friends. You go. The other thing I love about that, because it's summer and you probably have been out and about all day and in the sun and doing fun things. You do a rooftop at sunset. You have a cocktail, or you don't have a cocktail with some sparkling water, you have whatever you want, soda, and then you're kind of go home and can go to bed relatively early to start it all again the next day. But I love a rooftop sunset happy hour during the summer.

Perfect. I'm gonna say for this summer, watching World Cup games with my friends. Like going to different bars doesn't matter who's on the TV. I went with a couple of girls to watch like Argentina, Algeria, and it was so much fun. So meeting new people that way too, using sports is kind of like a little way to just talk to strangers, which has been a theme here.

Definitely a theme here. We love it, absolutely love it. I am gonna say, I mean, going to a baseball game, any baseball game, I mean that is there's nothing more summer. And the other thing that's fun in the summer is for those of us who watch baseball from like day one, I get a lot from my from it's April, it's May, it's June. Now you hit July, and July games in the summer really start to matter. And so that gets really, really fun. Those post all-star break games, it's like, okay, game on. And that brings me to a subheading of this, which is the MLB trade deadline, which is the end of July and the summer. And that one is another huge news drop. There's always one massive crazy trade that nobody saw coming, and you usually find out about it at a game or first thing in the morning when you wake up or something like that. So I think the MLB trade deadline is a spectacular summer tradition. Love that. And my laugh. Not necessarily with your friends, but that's okay.

And whether it's a Saturday or Sunday at your local park, um, concerts with the park with the concerts in the park with the girlfriends is one of my favorite summer things.

And here in LA, the Greek theater is so much fun in the summer. The Hollywood bowl and picnicking. Picnicing before the concert is so fun. We love picnic. Uh, so that's really fun.
