Are we really about to say this out loud? We probably shouldn't. And that's never stopped us before. Fair point.
SPEAKER_03Let's get into it, shall we?
SPEAKER_01Welcome to the Three Wise Ducks podcast, where we call it how we see it, talk about the stuff that matters to us women, and of course, we are having a laugh along the way. And joining me as always is the gorgeous, lovely wellness guru herself, the beautiful Jan. And the fabulous youngest wise duck who is all about family and just enjoying it. She's just the brightest personality you've ever gonna meet. The beautiful Neilu. Quite frankly, girls, if we don't actually uh give ourselves an applause, and of course, my name is Joy, so I'm here. And look, this is our very first podcast of the Three Wise Ducks. And I, girls, I'm so excited about this. And I just thought we would introduce ourselves, let our beautiful listener know who we are. Um, but we're gonna do things a little differently because that's what we do on this podcast, just out of the blue. So I think what we might just do is I'll we'll go around the table, just introduce yourself so our beautiful listener know who we are and what we're about, and we're gonna ask ourselves some questions so you just get to know us on a quite frankly, a mindless level. It doesn't really matter, but you're gonna get to know us anyway. So uh, beautiful Jan, do you want to start?
SPEAKER_02Okay, so my name is Jan, and we're going to ask some questions. And uh, so the first question is what's your favourite movie?
SPEAKER_00Oh, go on, Neilo. Um, mine will definitely have to be White Chicks. Uh really. I don't know why, uh, but it's something that I've watched on repeat way too many times, and I could recite a lot of the lines from the movie, but yeah, it just uh unknownly has a very special place in my heart. How about you, Joy?
SPEAKER_01Um, look, I love the Toy Story, and I love every single one of them. And you know, it's also not just the movie, I mean you know, I'm really deep, aren't I? Toy story. It's a lot about me, but it's the memories of having the kids and watching it with the kids, and so that you know, anything that comes to mind with beautiful movies, and as I said, no depth to it, but it's toy story. Jen?
SPEAKER_02So my favourite movie is Under the Tuscan Sun. Oh, you know, romance, travel, love, Italian men. Yeah, oh yeah, itali. Yes, all of those things.
SPEAKER_01I tell you what, the policemen in Italy are on next level.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That could be an excursion, girl.
SPEAKER_00Sign me up. Let me quickly look at fights.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you booked them now yesterday.
SPEAKER_01All right, I've got one. What's the worst movie? Oh, what's your worst movie that you've ever seen?
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh, this is really difficult because where do you start? You got the list? What chicks?
SPEAKER_02Jan, over to you while I contemplate this. I can't think of a movie specific, but I will not watch anything horror. Are you horror movies?
SPEAKER_01I'm with you. Yeah. Okay. Um, for me, um, Devil Wears Prada 2. I know that sounds controversial and it's all relevant. Why? Um look, I I I think that our listener just checked out. So let's just talk amongst ourselves. It was the biggest disappointment. And at the end, I I saw it with my daughter, who's, you know, mid-twenties, and I I was a bit concerned that she'd fallen asleep. It it had no substance to it, and the characters was such a shame because they're, you know, amazing actors, but the storyline had no substance. And um part of a a movie club, and we and I chose this particular movie, last movie, was um um oh do you remember Jan? It was Wine Country. Again, great actors, great actresses.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, I remember that. Yep, yes. And um I enjoyed that.
SPEAKER_01You should come to the movie club because it changes your mind at the end. Um, but yeah, certainly Devil Wears Prada 2, that's mine.
SPEAKER_00So, Neil, have you thought about one? Um, I think for me it's when you're watching a TV series and there's a lot of anticipation around it, and then you start and you're like, no bueno. And there's nothing there. Yeah, nothing comes to mind, but it's happened so often that it doesn't even what's the word? Um gauge. Yeah. And then you're disappointed. Yeah. And then you start and you're just like, oh, I've committed.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So do I keep going or do I stop?
SPEAKER_01It's a little bit like all the hallmark movies on um, you know, stream free to air through streaming and stuff, you know, the hallmark movies, because you start them going, and it's like this predictable love story. You think I've seen it like a thousand times before. So, yeah, I understand that.
SPEAKER_00So, yeah, anyway, that's interesting. What's your question, Neilie? Um, I have a very random question. Go for it. What warning label do you come with? You go first.
SPEAKER_01Um, warning label. Okay. Um, I think the warning label would be um don't you dare leave crumbs on the beach.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we know that about you. Yes, we know that already today. I think my warning label, I had to really think about this one, but you know, you might be talking to me and I'm listening to you, and all of a sudden I just daydream. I'm daydreaming about my neck, next massage, my next holiday. My and then I come back to you. So, you know, if you're listening to me and talking to me, um, I might just daydream. Oh, you check out. I check out the word, I check out.
SPEAKER_00I check out on another. Is that based on the person, Jan, or just based on She checks out all the time with me now? Yeah, just check out. Um my warning label is if you carry a lot of negativity when you're naturally speaking, I don't have the energy for that, and I like to switch it up, you know. And sometimes people are not wanting that or welcoming that. But for me, I always look at a situation, an interaction, whatever your life's trajectory is, is such a positive way for you to lead your life. And sometimes I feel like, oh, hold on, let me just change the direction which you're going because you're going down a hole. So sometimes sometimes it's really valuable.
SPEAKER_02So you're very truthful.
SPEAKER_00I'm very truthful, but not everyone's willing or wanting to have that energy. Correct.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, that's so deep, deep than my crumbs on the beach.
SPEAKER_02Mine daydreaming. Oh my goodness. So my next question is would you rather be recognised for your intelligence or your kindness? Oh, kindness.
SPEAKER_00Girl same. Yeah, same, same, same. That's an easy one, really. We've got Tatcha BT now. We don't need the It's been replaced. The intelligence.
SPEAKER_01I'm so intelligent now. Definitely kindness. I imagine you're not going to be able to do that. That's easy. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, okay. This is a good one. What's your most useless talent? Oh gosh. I'll share mine, can I? Yes, please. I've got double-jointed and I know we're filming. Oh I've got double jointed elbows that I can turn my elbow up. Sure, I never knew that about them. They're straight and they yeah, I can turn them up. That is the most useless, and I'm calling it talent. It is a talent in talent. Oh, okay.
unknownBecause I've got nothing else.
SPEAKER_01You should see what we can see. You'll need to go to our socials to say. Oh my goodness. Yeah, that's my useless talent.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I've got one. I thought, um, my useless talent is maths. So I am just hopeless at numbers. Oh, I do. My brain cannot do numbers. And I don't know why.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_02Has it always been like that?
SPEAKER_01Or just always. But that could come down to your learning style because we've got an audio, visual, and kinesthetic, which is doing. And I do. Yeah. And in school, okay, I'm going to ask you a bit deep here. In school, were you constantly asked to pay attention in maths?
SPEAKER_02And then I played up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Because the math teachers rely on audio. Yeah. No, I don't do it. And if it's not your learning style, and they might do it on the board, as in explained. So it's visual, and you might be able to get it when it actually fully explains itself and they're doing it. And then I need to do it. And then you need to do it. Yeah. So it could be, and that could be like a bit of a trauma mark in your brain. I'm sure. That you just block out. So but I can do it. I can count my. Of course you can. Of course. But yeah, that's just not a good idea.
SPEAKER_02I'm going to skip anything else that I was useless about.
SPEAKER_01So that's your useless talent. Yeah, that's one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We'll call it that. Um, my useless talent is scrolling Instagram, saving so many things that I'm going to cook, that where I'm going to go, what I'm going to buy, how I'm going to change my home, what what lessons I'm going to teach my children. And then that's it. What's the applicability? But in the moment, I'm very useful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I'm I think we've all got that useless talent, just not least too. I mean all these clothes that keep coming up on my Instagram account that look great on them. And I think, oh yeah, that's me too, but no, not good. Alright. Um, what is the one household job you dislike the most?
SPEAKER_00Cleaning. Cleaning what specific? Just in general. I just in general. Or healthy. So that's that's not true, actually.
SPEAKER_02You go, Jan. Well, I was I'm just thinking about that one. I I don't cook, so my husband's the best cook. So that's that's what I dislike doing. So he takes that up and um and I do I love cleaning. I'm a Virgo, remember, so I love cleaning and tidying up and and getting the food in and uh but not the cooking.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, that's a good gift. I think we're all coming to your point for this.
SPEAKER_00Correct. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Let him know.
SPEAKER_00Let him know.
SPEAKER_01He'd be happy to have you. Yeah, he says that now. Did you think of something?
SPEAKER_00Yes. So usually in our house, um, when there's mess and clutter, we've got like baskets. And when you're clearing a bench, for example, or a dinner table, and there's different random objects belonging to different people, it goes into a box so that the bench is clear or the hallway floor is clear. Putting all that shit away is not my jam.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because it's just clutter, right? If it had a place, it had a home, it'd go back to where it is. But you've got little logo pieces and erasers and just the most random things. So most of the time ends up in the bin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You almost need to bring the bin inside and throw it all in the area. I must admit, for me, it's vacuuming.
SPEAKER_03Really true.
SPEAKER_01Let me tell you, I'm going deep here now. Okay, stay with me, listener. Okay. Um when I'm vacuum, I don't like it. So my brain goes into the negative, and my brain replays all the crappy stuff that's happened. So if I'm if I've had a crappy week, I don't vacuum. What I've started to do is get the little Dyson out so I can whip around in 30 seconds, and there's no negative thought to go through my head. Right? Because I just go straight to, and it could be something that happened 20 years ago, and all of a sudden my brain gets triggered, and there I am, you know, and so I have to be very conscious. So sometimes I'll just put music on or I'll put music, sorry, it's a good distraction. But yeah, vacuuming is just something that I just don't like doing, really. So I've got the Dyson, yeah. So I've got the Dyson to whip around. I'm actually really interested to our beautiful listener, and I say our beautiful listener because as I said before, there's probably only one listening at a time, at a time. DM us, we're on Instagram, so it's uh three wise ducks. DM us, what is your one well, the one household duty that you absolutely dislike? We want to hear from you. Yes, because you're the only one listening. So we want to hear from you, please. Let us know. Let us know.
SPEAKER_00All right, Neila, have you got a question? Yes, what is the best part of your daily routine? Oh, that's easy for me. I'll answer that straight away. Can I guess yours? Guess it. Is it your tapping?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. I love my morning routine. So tapping, meditation, gratitude, movement, walking, yoga. Oh my gosh. It is non-negotiable. Every single day that I do for me first. I wake up. I wake up with gratitude, I chant a mantra, I breathe deeply, I'm so grateful for the day. Every single day. I love my life and everything about and everything about honestly, I do. I just love it. And um, so yeah, every single morning, and and you know, some mornings it might be five minutes, ten minutes, but other mornings, you know, what I don't have to have be anywhere or have clients is 20 minutes, half an hour. Oh gosh, non-negotiable consistency every day.
SPEAKER_01So good. See, here's the difference between Jan and I bedtime. That's the best part of the day is getting into bed. Really, toy. For no other reason than I'm getting into bed. Horizontal. I love I love going to the dentist lying down in the chair. I love anything lying down. The former Pilates would suit you very well.
unknownYeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_00So there's a difference between Jan and I. I love it. What about you, Neil? Um, my absolute favourite thing in the day is reading to Noah at night. Um, the kids have just moved both their beds into one room now, which is so nice. Nia usually reads by herself, um, but he always picks three books, and we go through the books, and it's like a window down for me as well as him. And then he tells me about his whole day, every single component of it, and it's that's what I look forward to the most. I used to do that with Nia quite a lot, and then now she's obviously got other things to do. But now that they're both in the same room, we've started the tell me the best three things about your day. Yes, and then Noah always says, Can I tell you the worst part, Mum? I'm like, Yes, tell me. And yeah, so I just I love that. It makes me feel all the different parts of my life that we're always trying to juggle and be present for. Like this all comes together at the end of the day. You're like, Yes, I'm mum, I'm exactly where I want to be right now, and this is why I had children, you know, to be present. Yes, so it really kind of validates that for me that I could be anywhere else. But right now I'm choosing to be here and with my bebis.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love that. So there's a theme here, girls. You two are so deep. I might have to rethink my world.
SPEAKER_00You're so deep in other ways.
SPEAKER_03Let's go with that.
SPEAKER_00Have you got a question, Neil? What do you want to be? Sorry.
SPEAKER_01A beautiful list of Jen. And just me going, joy my gentleman. Sorry, Jen. Neilie, could you hold that? Oh my feelings. I'm sorry. Sorry, Jen.
SPEAKER_02Please, please, keep doing. And I like my questions. Okay, go for it. All right, what is the worst haircut or fashion choice you've ever made? You've got an answer for this, so answer it, Jen. Go on. I had a bowl haircut. A bowl one? A bowl one. How old were you? Oh, yeah, my mum made me do it. But I was I think I was a teenager and I cried the whole time. I had this long hair, she put a bowl on it and she cut it short. She literally put the bowl on your head. Yeah, it's coming back now. Is it coming back, or not back in those days? It was not in. It was not in.
SPEAKER_00Yes, very coming back. And my fringe was crooked, and oh god.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I had to find that photo to show you. And it's day, I don't think anyone took that photo.
SPEAKER_01You need to bring it in. We've got to put that on the socials. Oh my goodness. No, I burnt it.
SPEAKER_02No, it's fine, it's gone. It's gone.
SPEAKER_01But it's imprinted in my mind. Oh god. I can remember wearing clown pants in the 80s. Do you remember clown pants pants? Why? Why? Oh, just you know, out there. I worked for um, I did some work for like uh it was not just jeans, it was ingenious. And um, you know, it was all all about the the you know the pants and stuff. And so um, yeah, I'm I mean, I'm I'm not tall and I'm not like I'm this, you know, I'm no supermodel.
SPEAKER_03Close, but no supermodel.
SPEAKER_01So no. Um, yeah, clown pants, and I can remember them quite clearly. Yeah, that's that's me. Just laughing at myself now. I can't mention anymore because those of you who grew up in the 80s, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh. Um, my worst haircut, I I can't remember if this is this was me or whether it's me manifesting it within my mind that it was me. But I've got blonde tips. So cut my hair like a Rihanna. Um, Neil and I were like probably a couple of years into dating. The back of my hair was short and it came out like pretty cool. Then had this fringe that had blonde tips. I thought I was so cool back then, and he got blonde tips too, and we're like, oh, we're so hot. We are totally not who are we trying to be?
SPEAKER_02I want to see that photo, Neil. Oh, yeah. Absolutely have a photo. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, do you remember the perms back in the day too? Yes, oh my actually, yeah, that's one of my worst things too. So I got married, had straight hair, and then we're going on the honeymoon to Penang in Singapore, and so I thought I'd go and have a perm. And I remember Shane looking at me and and going, Who is this? Oh I look so different. Did you like other turns? I thought I looked gorgeous. I'm pretty sure you did. I'm pretty sure you thought I did. Yes.
SPEAKER_00You look you'd look hot with a bowl haircut.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you would. But I'd need to put my glasses on to look at the channel, Jan. Oh my goodness, whose turn is it? Because is it your turn, Jen again? Yes.
SPEAKER_02No, no, I've just had my turn. Oh no.
SPEAKER_01You go to. Oh, look, I love this. Who would play you in a movie about your life? I don't know this one. Can we can we make a suggestion? Yeah, sure. Uh Dolly Parton? Because you've always wanted big boobs, Jan.
SPEAKER_02I have two. Okay, Dolly Parton for me.
SPEAKER_00I'm trying to imagine Dolly Barton. Or a perm. And the wig. I don't I don't know who would play me. Um, I don't know a lot of names in terms of actors that I look up to or I aspire to be, but I don't know, someone who's trying to get her shit together but failing miserably. That's pretty much all actresses these days.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um, can I just share mine? Yes. Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise, why? Well, you know, it would challenge Tom Cruise, wouldn't it, really? And quite frankly, if if he could play me in my life and as a male playing a female and doing all the things that we do in our life as females, he would deserve an Oscar. So quite frankly, I'm helping him out. So Tom Cruise, that's who would play me in my life.
SPEAKER_00Is he still active?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know what?
SPEAKER_01Move over, Tom. And I don't care.
SPEAKER_00So that's it. So we have any others. Do we have any more questions? Um, who do you want to be when you grow up?
unknownOh goodness me.
SPEAKER_00I'll go first. Go. This might make me cry, but I'm being honest. I remember meeting you, Jan, and the moment I met you, I just knew I was like, this is who I want to be when I grow up. No. Truthfully. Oh wow. Yeah. Bit deep, but yeah. And but why? Like what I'm saying. I think for me, like one of the biggest things that I want in my life is balance. Um, and that's in all factors of life, you know, relationship, children, work, me. And when I look at you, uh for me, that's the epitome of what balance looks like. You know, you nurture yourself, you prioritize yourself, you've got your wonderful partner or your husband, sorry, your kids, they're all growing up. But I just I remember saying to the kids, I was like, Oh, I want to be like Jen. I want to be like Jen. You know? Oh, nearly. Yeah. That's really touched me. That's beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_00But that's you know, that's the truth. And I always think, how can I slow down or how can I be a bit more present? And I always look to you in your wonderful natural ways of just existing. Yeah. Of how can I inject a little bit of that into my day or my week. Yeah, so thank you, Jen.
SPEAKER_01Wow. That's beautiful, Jen. And the thing is, I don't know if you realise the enormity of how you impact people. And Nilo's just articulated so much.
SPEAKER_00My pleasure. Thank you for being here. Oh yes.
SPEAKER_02Well, everyone else has taken. Oh, that's beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I would be like Jan. I can't say anything else now. Let's just leave it at that, shall we? Let's leave it at that. Let's leave it at that. I think that's just beautiful. Nilo, that was just gorgeous. Thank you. And you're right. Jan does it. Jan impacts people on so many levels in so different ways that it's beautiful. Oh, well, this is the Jan fan club here right now.
SPEAKER_02All right. Question. I've got a question. All right. Of course you have. Sorry, Jan knife. What is your go-to comfort meal?
SPEAKER_01Oh, pumpkin soup, isn't it? Because comfort to me always resonates through winter. Yes. Yes, warm. Yeah, good pumpkin soup and some crusty bread. Yeah. Yum. Yeah, what about you? Roast. Oh. Roast and roast potatoes. Lamb beef. Oh anything. Anything.
SPEAKER_02Don't discriminate. Roast pumpkin potatoes and green beans and oh but shane cooked gravy. Yeah, of course you're going to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'd love roast too if somebody else doesn't.
SPEAKER_00Um mine would be a chicken curry luxar. Oh yum. Yeah, yum.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful.
SPEAKER_00All the things in a bowl.
SPEAKER_01Yum. I love it. Absolutely love it. Oh, gorgeous. I think we're out of questions. I've got one more. Oh Jane's got another one. Another one. Did you did you mark off multiple questions? I did. Oh, okay. I've got one more. Go. You are having a dinner party.
SPEAKER_02Who would you invite?
SPEAKER_01Tom Cruise, because he's going to play me. Because I have to, I'm going to have to write the script, obviously.
SPEAKER_00Um, I would invite my grandma. She died almost 20 years ago. And I just want to know what she's about and who she is and what she's learnt and just her presence. You know, just being in her presence would be such a gift.
SPEAKER_02Beautiful. How about you, Dan? Oh, definitely Hugh Jackman. Oh. Yeah. I think it'd be a great conversation. I think it'd be funny. And boy. I candy.
SPEAKER_01I mean how you do it. I've got to be honest here. Not, I mean, I don't particularly like Tom Cruise. I'm not a fan. Okay. I think I gathered that. Right. Okay, yep. Um, I I I love that, and I would have Stephen Fry, who's the English actor. And I adore Stephen Fry. I've read all his books. He's quite an extraordinary man. He's got mental health issues, um, quite severe, and yet he is such uh the strength in this gentleman is extraordinary, and his wit and his talent, and you know, I think I for the first time in my life I would sit at the dinner party and just shut my mouth and not say anything. Yeah, you'd just be in awe of his challenge accepted. Let me just see my fire and I'll test hey, let's do it. Hey Stephen, if you're listening. With Hugh Jackman, and Eric Banner. Oh, there's a gift. It's a gift that keeps us moving. And of course, your grandma did definitely. We would have her there. She'd be thrilled to be.
SPEAKER_00She'll be just like, what are all these naked men doing at the moment?
SPEAKER_01Sorry, did we say naked? I was thinking it. You actually said. Oh my goodness. So I think we're done, yeah, with the questions. Oh, can I just say what a lot of fun that was? This is our very first, and we wanted you, our beautiful listeners, to get to know us, and we hope that we've actually shared a little bit about ourselves. Now, Jan, if you if you need to connect with Jan, it's Janwinslay.com.au. And Jan.com. Oh, sorry, dot com. Yeah. Oh, I really should have written that down. Jan at Janwinslay.com. Oh, beautiful. That's the website or is that your email?
SPEAKER_02That's my email.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I was just I was just doing website. Yeah. We haven't practiced this, can you tell? I'm not going to cut that bit out. I can't be bothered. So beautiful Jan. Look, just DM us through the socials if you want to connect. We're all based on the Mornington Peninsula too, in beautiful Victoria, Australia. And we just love every minute all by the beach, which is where we're sitting right now, and it's fabulous. And we've got the beautiful Neilu. Neelou, do you want to give yourself a plug? Your Instagram account is huge.
SPEAKER_00Oh, thank you so much. I love it. It's a real it's a it's it's us in our most humble oh that's not true. Um my Instagram is Melbourne.escapades and it's about travel and family and food and adventure and yeah, it's just a side hustle, it's what we do on the weekends, it's how we connect, and it's also a passion project. So, you know, outside of that, I work in HR, which I love and have been in the industry for quite a long time. Um but yeah, just I enjoy giving our kids the opportunities that you know we never had as children. And to be able to share that with people who alongside want to do something fun with their kids. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And your Instagram handle is we'll put it on our our Instagram three wise ducks, Instagram handle.
SPEAKER_00Melbourne.escapades.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful. And Jan, yours is Jan Winslade. You sure about that? Oh, yeah. The first Jan's giving me right now, she goes, Joy, you tell me. I can't remember. Let me have a look, let me have a look. I do the research on Jan's handle.
SPEAKER_00It's Jan.winslade.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful. Okay. And for me, I don't know if anyone knows me. Probably no one, because it's the only one listening, they won't know me. Because I've got two amazing women sitting in front of me here. It's uh look, it's my name's Joy, but I'm from Blissful Connections, and believe it or not, I am in fact a couples and relationship counsellor. Yes, girl. And it is my job is is the most privileged job I absolutely love. And my handle, which I'm laughing at Jan, is Blissful Joy. I just had brain freeze.
SPEAKER_00Um, it's blissful underscore connections.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so they're our Instagram handles. We'll pop that on the three wise ducks. So you can check us out, have a look at us, and um you you know you now know who we are and what we do. So you've learned a little bit about us. You've actually learned more. Our beautiful listener has learnt more from us than probably some of our friends know. Maybe we get our friends to listen. Anyway, I think we're done for today. Please stay tuned for the next show. We've got lots more to come. We're so excited, thrilled the bits to be here. Do you ladies want to say anything before we sign off? No, just enjoy. Enjoy.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for being here. Thanks for being part of the ride, and um, we'll look forward to getting to know you over time. And on that note, see you next show.
