We're recapping Day 1 of VBS by asking Who is Jesus?
I have an experiment for you. Try this. Unless you're driving or doing something important like that. Pick one eye and close it. Like a very long wink. Just keep one eye open. Okay, stay just like that until I tell you to open it. It's time for the FAM podcast. Welcome families to the FAM Podcast. Fam stands for five awesome minutes. It's a mini show that encourages and equips your crew, and today we're recapping Illumination Station Day one. Okay, you still got that one eye closed? Good. Keep it that way. Each day at Illumination Station, we have a spotlight question we try to shed some light on. Today's question was who is Jesus? It's a simple question, right? But so many people had different answers in Jesus' time and even today. We discovered how in the Bible wait, you still have one eye closed, right? Good. In the book of Matthew, chapter sixteen, we see Jesus asking his friends, who do people say he is? And many got it wrong. But in verse sixteen we see someone finally get it right. Verse sixteen says, Simon Peter answered, You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. Who is Jesus? Jesus is the Messiah, the promised Son of God. Many people saw him. Even today many people know about him, but do they know who Jesus really is? Let's try an experiment. Okay, in just a moment, I'm going to ask you to switch eyes. You're going to close your open eye and finally open your closed eye. And I want you to switch between looking through your two eyes, going back and forth, and see how things look different in each eye. Are you ready? Go. Remember, keep only one eye open at a time. Just swap between the two. What are you noticing when switching? What's different about the way things look? All right, you can stop now. Don't worry, your vision will go back to normal here in just a few moments. First Peter two nine says, But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a royal nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. God designed your eyes to adjust in the darkness so you can see better. You had your eye closed for so long, it made a difference in the way you see the world. Your closed eye was in the darkness for so long, but now it can see marvelous light. Many people saw Jesus, but did they see him for who he truly is? The Messiah, the Son of the Living God? Many people today know about Jesus, but do they see him for who he truly is? We need to share Jesus with the world so people can see Jesus for who he says he is. The son of God who came to save. All right, it's time for our joke of the day. If you have a funny joke your family wants to share with us, parents email it to us, kids at greenwellsprings.com. All right, here comes the joke. Why did the light bulb go to school? To get brighter. Get brighter because he's a okay. And now the question of the day for your family to discuss. Who do you say Jesus is? And why does it matter? Who do you say Jesus is? And why does it matter? We'll see you tomorrow for day two of VBS at Illumination Station.
