We recap day 2 of VBS with a look at the question Was Jesus Just an Ordinary Man?

SPEAKER_00

Did you know it takes light from our sun eight minutes and twenty seconds to reach us here on Earth? We're gonna see if we can beat that Tom in this VBS edition of the FAM Podcast. Welcome families to the FAM Podcast. Fam stands for Five Awesome Minutes. It's a mini show that encourages and equips your crew, and today we're recapping Illumination Station Day two. Now we don't always hit it, but we aim for five minutes, which is faster than it takes the sun's light to reach Earth. Each day at Illumination Station, we have a spotlight question we try to shed some light on. Today's question is was Jesus just an ordinary man? To answer that question, we looked into the Bible, God's message to us, and read about Jesus being baptized. Now Jesus was baptized to follow God's perfect plan and to show us that He is the Messiah, the anointed one who came to save people from their sin. In Mark 111, we read A voice came from heaven, you are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased. There you have it. Straight from God. Was Jesus an ordinary man? Jesus is the perfect Son of God who came to be Savior of the world. Why don't we play a game? All right, step right up. I have three challenges for you. Let's see how you and your crew can do. Feel free to pause the podcast if you need some time, and I'll be here waiting for you. Challenge number one is a tongue twisting challenge. I'm going to give you and your family a phrase and see if you can say it three times fast without making any mistakes. And if you can do it, see who can do it the fastest. Feel free to pause and try these. The first phrase He threw three free throws. The second phrase. Cooks cook cupcakes quickly. And the final phrase, Toy Boat. There you go. Who is the best in your family? Alright, challenge number two is a memory challenge. At VBS we have a memory verse, John 8.12. I'm going to read it, but every time I pause, you have to shout out the next word. Are you ready? Ah, the of world. Who me never the but have light life. Alright, did you get it? Okay, don't worry, we still have more days to go over the memory verse. And now the final challenge. It's a challenge all about if you've been paying attention. How long does it take light to get from the sun to earth? Do you remember? The answer is eight minutes and twenty seconds. So how'd you do? But in life, God tells us how to live. And even if you were perfect in every single challenge, the Bible says that we've all fallen short of God's perfect standard. He is holy, and we are not. We have all sinned or broken God's law. All except Jesus. He lived a perfect life and followed God's law perfectly. Jesus is the perfect Son of God who came to be the Savior of the world. And that's something we can celebrate. Okay, it's time for the joke of the day. Remember, if you got a joke for us, send it in. Parents, you can email it to kids at greenwillsprings.com. Here we go. Why can't ponies talk to humans? Because they're a little horse. Because a pony is called a horse. Okay. And now the question of the day for your family to discuss. What are some ways your family can follow Jesus better? What are some ways your family can follow Jesus even better? We'll see you tomorrow for day three of VBS at Illumination Station.
