Today, we look at the question discussed at VBS, Was Jesus Just a Teacher?
Congratulations! We're halfway through VBS. Let's celebrate with another FAM podcast. Welcome families to the FAM Podcast. Fam stands for five awesome minutes. It's a mini show that encourages and equips your crew. And today we're recapping Illumination Station, day three. Let's start today by seeing if you got our memory verse, John 18.12 memorized. We're gonna work as a team. I'll say the verse, but when I blink, you have to fill in the word. Are you ready? Let's do this. Anyone who me will never end the but will have the of life. So how'd you do? Don't worry if you got something wrong. We still got two days left. Each day at Illumination Station, we have a spotlight question. We try to shed some light on. Today's question is was Jesus just a teacher? Some people think Jesus was a good teacher and taught us some good lessons on how to live, but that's all he was. At least that's what they think. To answer that question, we looked into our Bible, God's message to us, and read about Jesus performing miracles. Miracles aren't magic or luck or even a really impossible trick shot you might see online. Miracles are something only God can do. Like the things we read about, things like giving sight to the blind or healing the sick in the Bible. There we have it, straight from God's Word. Was Jesus just a teacher? No. Everything Jesus said and did showed that he was the powerful Son of God. Let's play a game. Can we make a miracle happen? What if I told you I can make you grow an extra finger? Would you believe me? What if I told you we're not only going to grow an extra finger, but it would float in mid-air? Now, do you believe me? Let's see. I want you to take your pointer fingers, the ones that you point with, and I want you to hold them out in front of you. Now, unless you're driving, mom, dad, keep your eyes on the road. Take your two pointer fingers and touch them together, fingertip to fingertip, right out in front of you. You should be staring now at your two pointer fingers, touching. Not much, no big deal, right? But now look past your fingers. Don't focus on your fingertips. Focus on whatever is behind your fingers. You should start to see a third little finger between your two pointer fingers appear. Now slowly separate your pointer fingers, and that extra small finger should start to float on its own. Now, after seeing that, do you believe that I can do miracles? Not at all. It's just a silly little science trick with how our eyes take in light from different angles. Only God has the power to perform real miracles. And because Jesus did them, we know he isn't just a teacher. He's God in the flesh. And whenever you do this trick, you can share with others the point of the day. Get it? The point because you point your fingers. Now let's just move on to the joke of the day. If you have a joke, remember you can send it in. Kids at greenwellsprings.com. Here we go. Who would win in a race between a banana and a tomato? Well, the banana would take an early lead, but the tomato would catch up. The tomato would catch up. And now for the question of the day for your family to discuss. In Matthew 28, 18, Jesus says, All authority in heaven and earth has been given to him. In what ways does your family show Jesus has authority over you? And what are some things you're holding on to that you need to just give to Jesus? We'll see you tomorrow for day four of VVS at Illumination Station.
