Last day, best day of VBS 2026. Today we recap the spotlight question: Why Do We Need To Respond To Jesus?

SPEAKER_00

Wanna come on a trip? Well, you can bring your mom and your dad, but not your aunt and uncle. Find out why on this edition of the FAM Podcast. Welcome back to the FAM Podcast. Fam stands for five awesome minutes, and I'm thankful that you guys are here to get equipped and encouraged on this final day of Illumination Station. Well, sort of, but more on that later. Parents, have you got John eight twelve memorized? If so, say it with me, parents. Jesus spoke to them again. I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life. Now you guys didn't have to sing it, but I do because it helps me to remember it. And if you don't have it down, just listen to that theme song five or six thousand more times. It'll get stuck in your head. Each day at Illumination Station we have a spotlight question we try to shed some light on. And today's question is why do I need to respond to Jesus? So the past few days we talked about who Jesus is and how he lived a perfect life and how he died to forgive those who would trust and follow him. But why do people need to respond to Jesus? To answer that question, we looked into the Bible, God's message to us, and dove into Acts chapter two. Here's a verse that stood out to me. It was verse thirty eight. Repent and be baptized each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. You see, there's no other name you can call on to be saved from your sin. There is nothing you can do to get out of trouble of sin yourself. And trust me, I know we all love to try to get out of trouble. Have you ever found yourself about to get into big trouble and you try to get out of it by looking all sad and sorry with puppy dog eyes? Yeah, we can't do that with God. He is perfect and just, so he can't just let sin go unpunished. Why don't we play a game to kind of see what this looks like? Alright, we're gonna go on an amazing vacation trip. Oh yeah. But you've got to figure out what you can bring. I'm gonna tell you some things you can pack and some things you most definitely cannot pack. Try to figure out what the rule is, and once you figured it out, I'm gonna give you a final test to see if you truly got it mastered. You ready? Your pup can come and make sure to bring a treat. But don't bring a kitten. And definitely don't bring a duck. You can bring a comic, but don't bring a movie. You can bring a ruler, but don't bring a calculator. You can bring a napkin and a bib, but don't bring a baby or a wipe. Bring socks, but don't bring a hat. Bring a treat, but no tricks. Okay, have you got it figured out yet? Well here comes the test. Three things, and you have to guess if they'll make it on our trip or not. Luggage. Does it make it? Nope, not at all. Television. Does that make the trip? Nope. How about this? An alpaca. Can you bring an alpaca? Of course you can, yes. So did you figure it out? Okay, if you figured out the key to getting on this trip, why don't you share it with your family right now? The key to solving this puzzle was looking at the first and last letter of the thing you wanted to bring. Things like an alpaca, ruler, napkin, all start and end with the same letter. And that was the rule about going on the trip. In this game, there was only one rule, one key to get in. And in life, there is only one door to be forgiven of our sins, to be made right with God, and to live with him forever. It's Jesus. Jesus is the only way to receive God's forgiveness. And if you don't know him as your Savior, you can follow him today. We say it's as easy as ABC, admitting you're a sinner, believing in Jesus as God's one and only Son, and confessing Him as Savior and Lord of your life. If you have any questions about what it means to become a Christian or what it's like to follow Jesus, we'd love to hear from you. Kids at Greenwill Springs.com. Okay, it's time for our joke of the day. Why was the broom late for school? Because he overswept? He overswept instead of overslept. Okay. Before I share the question of the day, let me remind you that if you're listening to this during VBS 2026, we are having our family rally this Sunday at 10 30 AM and would love for your crew to join us for food, fun, faith, and more. And now the question of the day. Take time to discuss this with your crew. What's something you learned at Illumination Station that you didn't know before? Did you have any lot bulb moments that made you go, uh huh? What's something you learned at Illumination Station that you didn't know before? What Lot Bulb moments did you have that made you go, uh?
