We're back with a look at Samson, Ephesians 2:10, and a look at the bumps on your tongue.
How is your tongue like your thumb? Find out on this episode of the FAM Podcast. Welcome back to the Five Awesome Minutes Podcast, or FAM for short. We'll encourage and equip your family in about five minutes. This month, during Blast, which is our midweek services for preschooler and kids, we're discovering that we're uniquely designed by God. There are a lot of things that make you unique or one of a kind. You may have heard that your fingerprints at the end of your fingers are unique to you, but there's more. Look at your tongue or at a family member's tongue. You see all the small bump in cratheth? Yeah, those bumps, that's unique to you as well. But we only do fingerprints, not tongue prints. Your ear shape, your lip lines, even the way you walk can be used to identify you because it's unique to you. But it's not just physical. God made you in his image. We all have different gifts, talents, and skills that make us unique. We have a big God, and he made each of us a little different. And he loves us. And he loves you. This week we're discovering that our lives matter to God. Our Bible story this week comes from Judges chapters 13 through 16. And it's about a man named Samson. Now, even though Samson made several wrong choices, God had a plan to work through Samson in an incredible way. Samson's life mattered to God, and our lives matter to God too. Just like Samson. We're uniquely designed by God, and part of that design is to follow God with our whole lives and point others to Him. God designed you the way you are for a purpose. Let's go to the Bible. Ephesians 2, verse 10 says this for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do. You know what? Won't we play a game just to see how unique we can be? Okay, I'm gonna give you a category, like uh say things with wills, and you come up with something that fits that category. Say a skateboard. Try to come up with something unique because after a few seconds, I'm gonna name three things. And you're gonna get a point each time you have a unique answer. Anything that doesn't match me or your family. Okay? And remember, if you need to, pause so you can come up with an answer. I'll be here ready for you when you hit play. Ready? Okay, here comes the first category. Colors. Colors. How to come up with a unique color that no one else is going to say. Alright, you got it locked in? Why don't you share with your family what you said? Here's my colors: red, blue, and chartreuse. If you came up with a unique color that no one else said, you get a point. Let's move on to round two. Animals that don't have four legs. Can you think of an animal that doesn't have four legs? Alright, are you ready to lock it in? Share with your family what you came up with. And here are my answers. A kangaroo, a snake, and a spider. Did we match? If so, no point. But if you came up with something unique, you get a point. Round three. Sports and games that don't use a ball. Any sport or game that does not use a ball. This one's tough. Okay, I've got my answers locked in. If you do, share it with your family. My answers are darts, hockey, and hide and go seat. Again, if you match, no point. If you're unique, you get a point. Next round, things found in the kitchen. Things found in the kitchen. Lock it in, share with your family. My answers, spoon, milk, and a bowl. I recently had cereal, so it was on my mind. Okay, the penultimate round. That means the next to last. Christmas things. Christmas things. What could fall under the category of Christmas thing? Lock it in by sharing with your family. My answers. Tree. Light. Cookies. Christmas cookies. Okay, did I get any of you on that one? And finally, words that begin with A. You have a lot of options here. What's a unique word that starts with A? Lock it in by sharing it with your family. My words, Apple, America and Alive. So how did you do? Was it hard being unique? Think about all the billions of people that have ever lived. Our creative God made each one unique, and he knows them all. Not only that, he knows you. And when we trust and believe in God, we are his. Have you ever thought about how you belong to God? It's very comforting to remember that He made you, He loves you, He guides you, and He takes care of you. Okay, it's time for our joke of the Week. What do you call a pile of cats? A meowton. A meowton. If you think you can do better, send in your jokes to kids at GreenwillSprings.com. And now it's time for our question of the day. In what ways has God made you unique? And how can that be used to praise God and help others? In what ways has God made you unique? And how can that be used to praise God and to help others? Talk about that with your family, and we'll see you next time on the Fan Podcast.
