Part 2/2 of my experiences and observations while working in the hotel industry.
Hello, everybody, and welcome to the latest episode of The Losing Ticket. I am your host, as normal, Matt. Today we're gonna dial back to a previous episode, a part one episode. I I noticed I have three part ones, so I'm gonna I'm gonna circle back and maybe close out some of them. Granted, we might talk about them again in some fashion in the future, but I'm gonna close out the hotel. So a few uh weeks ago or a month ago, or maybe whatever, I did a a podcast on the hotel. And I know I touched base on uh some of the co-workers and some of the uh famous people that I met. Brian Tretchier, Ben Coates, one Bill Fickner. Nobody really by I mean come on, it's not like Brad Pitt staying at the freak freaking comfort suites. But um, you know, it was quite kind of cool. Or the Triple H. I guess triple H. I don't know, back in the day. I don't know if wrestlers used to, I think, from what Richie told me, ri wrestlers would drive themselves. Well, I I know in c this was the case back then, but I don't know if they still do. But they would drive from like uh event to event. So, I mean, I would assume. I mean, if you're if you're going on your own dollar, why would you care? I mean, unless you're probably like the rock or John Cena, where you made movies and shit like that. I I would assume you're just kind of staying on the lower end of of the financial spectrum of hotels. But I really didn't talk about in the first episode about some of the seedier things that happened in the hotel over the years, um, some of the craziness that happened with some of our Canadian friends from up north, some of the uh ridiculousness that hockey parents uh caused, and some of the really craziness of the flight cruise. And if I did get into the flight cruise, so be it, but I might revisit it a little bit. Everybody should understand that if you're taking a uh if you're taking a uh a commuter plane, you're not getting the uh full the full package you're getting guys that are probably just graduated from college. Um not in every case, but at least in my experience and some of the ones that I dealt with, I would say they were all less than three or four years of being a pilot. And I'm not saying that they're bad by any means, but I mean the commuter plane in Buffalo crashed, and that was because they were lack of training. These these third-rate commuter freaking uh companies, they don't want to pay no money for these damn training. So it kind of, and this was this all happened after I was gone from the from the hotel, and I knew right away. I go, I guarantee you, they either were drunk or they didn't know what the hell they were doing. And in fact, it was that they didn't know what the hell they were doing because they were never trained, and yet, oh hey everybody, prices of uh airfares going up. Why? That ain't gonna be because of training of your damn pilots, that's for damn sure. I'll get to that later. So uh again, so we're gonna do the part two of the hotel. I highly doubt I'll ever have anybody that I worked with on the podcast. Not that I'm throwing anybody under the bus that much. I mean, the boss, Subosh, like I'll I'll revisit us for a minute. Subosh was great, he was an Indian guy, dots, not feathers. Um real good guy, cheap as shit, but a really good guy, and he's actually he actually came to a couple of my St. Patrick's Day and Halloween parties, and he shows up with a case of beer. Like he was he he liked the Yankees, he you could talk to him about football, you know, and he he was like an engineer or something like that. So the guy was kind of like not his business partners, his business partners are all a bunch of fucking assholes, but he was actually kind of down to earth. I actually enjoyed uh speaking with Sue Bosch, and I told you about the whole bullshit with the customers that want in the world and all that. Uh Trish, I lost contact with Trish. She was she was a wild child too. She's the one who was basically assaulted in my in my kitchen, in the middle of the kitchen, while various members of Richie's family and friends were basically circled around him while he basically invaded her mouth with his fucking disgusting Italian tongue. Uh I don't know if I brought about Mary. Mary was the one I scared the shit out of with the werewolf costume. She was real quiet. Like, I think I was there when I was in my 30s, and she must have been in her 50s, and she was just like done. Like she just didn't. See, I think she was like an ex-hippie at the time. And she was just like, I don't know. I think most of her brain cells were smoked away. Uh maintenance guys, creepy but cool. Uh house cleaners were awesome. The main I forgot what her name was. The manager of housekeeping was awesome, very nice. But some of the girls that she employed were super nice, and they would come out to the to the um to some of the parties too. Very interactive though, and just you know, friendly and things like that. It was a it was a good workplace. What workers, yeah. I mean, everywhere you go, you're gonna have a bad egg every once in a while. But uh, for the most part, we all had to take a bite of that shit sandwich, which was the comfort sweets. And um I would like with the exception of this one, there was one guy's this guy who was um I forgot his name. Is it Daryl or no, not Daryl, because there was a Daryl there and he was a nice guy. Um, but uh it was a different guy, and I forgot his name, but he was like a born-again Christian. Now, mind you, I'm Catholic, and I do practice, and I'm not uh I would never be a hypocrite and start preaching to anybody about it, but this is a guy who was like in jail for I don't even think it was drugs, I think it was more like robbing and thievery and hoodlum bullshit and like stealing and stuff like that. And he got out and he was you know born again, which to each his own. I'm not gonna sit there and criticize, but he would sit there and and say how I'm going to hell because I was a Catholic, which I found hilarious. And and whenever we had to work together, he was more front desk. I was more like, like I said earlier, I was more the um the van and uh security, but then I I did the front desk too. I mean, I when I was bored, I did whatever to keep busy. But um, back when I wanted to work. And uh, but this guy was just he was unbearable. He was an absolute just out of like and he was such a shit talker. Like he would sit there and just you'd watch him talking to the guests, and he had that like that fake ass damn gold tooth. And you know, giving all these people these all this, you know, and then he suddenly turned around and he just bam. I mean, everybody's guilty that to a point, I guess. But I was just like, I remember sitting there just watching them like kiss these fucking like these these these fucking people from like Syracuse, like, you know, whatever. They're just kissing their ass, telling them where to go to eat, and all this other shit. You got motherfucker never spent a dollar on anything. The only thing he ate was the stuff that we would make for breakfast that we gave out, you know, hotels have free breakfast, they're like a continental. That that guy, and I don't I didn't, I didn't I didn't criticize it. I someone someone named Matt might have taken a bag or two of waffle mix from time to time because my kids liked it so much. It is what it is. Sometimes shit like that just happens to fall into a computer bag. I you know, I don't know how it got there, officer. But that's all he ever did. Like if we're like, hey, you want to get a pizza or do you want to get uh some Chinese or you want to get whatever? It wasn't just me, it was anybody. He was just real real tight, but tight with the tips, tight with everything, tight with the cash. Hey, hey, maybe his his maybe, hey, maybe that was his setup, maybe he couldn't, and I'm not criticizing, I'm not criticizing, but again, you know, he would give these people these referrals, like he goes there five times a week, and uh and then the second they leave, he's like bad mouthing them, I'm effing them. Fucking hilarious. I must have mad. But he was just such a hypocrite, and that's what I was. He was like a hypocrite. He was a piece of shit, I'm a piece of shit. I'm a piece of shit, but I know I'm a piece of shit, right? He was a piece of shit, but he thought he was holier than thou because he was a born again, and that happens. So he was a I didn't really care for him that much. Um what else? Oh, yeah, we talked about that. So I'm gonna talk about, I guess, we can get into some of the drug events that happened. And I'm not talking about people smoking weed in their room. Like now, when I worked there, you couldn't smoke in the New York, you couldn't smoke in hotels at all. It was a smoke-free hotel, and which was fine, because I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't want to go into a smoky hotel room after another guest either. And that doesn't mean that people didn't do it. Um, but we had we had on three occasions that I was aware of that I was actually working at the hotel. Um I'm I'm sitting there, I'm like either in the main lobby or I'm I'm walking around doing something, and I see friggin' um I see damn undercover cops, not with guns drawn yet, but like they're coming and they're telling me, you know, get out, get out, get out. And they're coming with the maintenance guy because he has to well, they're gonna knock on the door, and the maintenance guy was going to like say he had to fix something. I think in all three occurrences it actually worked. He was saying something like something was wrong with the AC and in two of the occasions, something was wrong with the heater in the other one, and because it wasn't the same guy who kept getting busted, but it was the same uh demographic. Um I'm trying to be good here, folks. I'm trying to be good, give you some credit. But um he uh he got them to open the door and they were arrested, and it was kind of like busy, so you have like families checking in and were asking the cheek de wagger cops, or they did, the management did, you know, whatever the owner said, Hey, can you go out the side door? But they would take them right out all three times, they take them out the front door and in coughs. And I remember the one guy was like was motherfucking the world talking about how everybody was racist because they're all white cops, obviously. And um they had couldn't rent the room out, and then when HR HR, my god, when housekeeping kind of like let me know what was going on, they said that there was so much shit all over the place. Like the guy was it was like either a distribu he was distributing it from there or he was planning on taking it somewhere else. Uh uh on two of the occasions. Like, I think there was one that was like a briefcase, one was a suitcase, and the other was like a big old clear plastic bag of marijuana, like big, big, like like a restable level, like you're gonna be a dealer, a distribu distribution level? Is that what it help me out, Lori? Help if you're listening to this, help me out. What is the amount of of the devil's lettuce? What is the amount that you're allowed to have in your possession before it turns into a distribution felony charge? And I think one guy, the guy with the briefcase had scales and Ziploc baggies and twist ties. And uh that was a bad one too. Like, so as I said, there were three occurrences where we had guys, it wasn't necessarily like a stranger would come in, knock on the door, they would buy. It was almost like they used the room as like a distribution center to prepare their drugs, maybe in a safe space, they thought, because it wasn't like in their home where they're probably being watched. I mean, come on, like if you're gonna drive somewhere, guys can follow you. Nobody said they were smart people. And that might have happened, you know what? It might have worked in the past. You know, you say, oh, they got they we arrested or they busted three people doing it. Well, obviously there was some success somewhere for them to keep doing it. You know what I'm saying? So maybe for everyone busted, there was three or four that got away with that. So, you know, if you're batting a 200, I don't know. Is it good? I mean, but if you're if you're going to if you're gonna get charged with distribution, you're going to jail for a while. And I think this was back when New York actually um arrested and prosecuted criminals. They don't do that anymore now. You can like rape a girl and you're you're fucking depends on who you are, obviously. If you're an immigrant, if you're a legal immigrant and you rape somebody, well, don't worry about it, we'll let you out. And don't say it didn't fucking happen, because it happens all over the fucking, all over the country of blue. All the blue states do it. So it's just a bunch of hypocrite scumbags. But but but back then I do believe New York took uh illegal activity more a little bit more serious. And we just had on two occasions, we had one where a boss, I was actually one I was working, one I wasn't. The one I was working, we had a guy call looking for his employee who was was in Buffalo, in the area, and he was doing like uh some sales stuff. Like he was going out to I don't know what he sold, but he had hit like a couple companies in the area, and he stayed at our hotel for like a week or two while he hit all these various places. And so I took the phone call and they're like, Yeah, my name is sh you know, so-and-so. I'm not gonna say the company, it wasn't wasn't like a company I would have remembered, anyways, to be honest with you. But he's like, Yeah, we're having a hard time contacting this guy, and this is like in the like the 2003 to 2005 time frame. So I know there's cell phones, but maybe cell phones weren't as widely used, or maybe they weren't as dependable, I guess, as they are today. Or, I mean, I I was one of the last people I knew to had a cell phone, so I I know like some people held out. But if you're in sales, I don't think you're probably holding out on cell phones. So maybe the cell phone died, or maybe some it was obviously well as I get to the story, you'll tell why they didn't answer. Um, so I went and I knocked on the guy's door, no answer, but you could hear like a television knocked on the door. I I went and got maintenance, and we went to do a check. Because the guy haven't heard from for like four or five days. So he opened up just to see if the room was empty, like maybe he checked out or whatnot. We heard the TV, it had a do not disturb on the outside of the door handle, which I'm a big believer in, mind you, but maybe I shouldn't be in this case, because something like this could happen. And um, he he, you know, there's a way of getting the door open, uh, even if they have the latch, you know. Yeah, you you we have a universal key, but if you have that little latch on the door, there's like a tool that maintenance has that allows you to kind of override that. And we didn't need that because I think that's what it is. I think I had the um I knocked and then I had the the the universal and I couldn't get it open still. And the door was open to crack. That's what it was. See, I'm remembering this. The door opened up just like an inch, and I could hear the TV, and I'm like, hello, hello, and I got no answer. And then I went and I got maintenance, and he had the little whatever it was that was able to get around that that loop, got the door open, and that the guy was dead on his bed. So they had a you know, he was dead dead though. He was like uh like white, you know, he wasn't like uh you could tell he probably was dead for a couple days. I mean, I'm not no uh I don't know, I'm not a doctor or anything like that, but you could tell it wasn't like this junk this guy just died. He he was like gray, I guess you call it gray, little gray. Oh, pale, very pale. So again, the whoever it is, is it the city of Morgue? I I don't even know who does that, but they came or an ambulance, they came to get the body, and we asked if they could do it through the side door, and they went right through the front, and again, and I'm like I'm like telling my coworkers what was going on, everyone, man, man, man, what happened? Like, what happened? And and and people, you know, we had a couple people at the front desk, and I believe maybe it was Trish or somebody's checking them in, and and sure as shit, they pull this dead body down the hallway, out right out the front of the of the hotel. And I'm thinking to myself, oh god. Like it's the last thing I want to see if I'm checking into hotels. I'm like with the with the sheet all the way over the body, walking them out. Oh it's like we still sold out almost not every night, but like when it was busy, it was busy. So we're never got around about that shit. There was another death at one point, and that was a similar thing where somebody died in um like while they were like staying in there for like work or something like that, but I wasn't there for that one. But I I when I came into work, they said, Oh yeah, another guy died. It was another guy, probably heart attack or something, who knows? It was not an OD, that for sure. It was just like I think I think it was heart attacks or old age. Well, it wasn't old age, it had been my heart attacks. So, yeah, we dealt with a lot of drugs, we dealt with some deaths. Um, propositions. I don't know, prostitution. Some were prostitution, some were just horny ass people. Um propositions. So there was and I'm gonna uh while I'm while I'm talking here, I'm gonna try and get it open here. I want to make sure that this is still a place, but there was a bar. Oh, green apple, crab crab apples. The place it was crab apples, it was on Genesee between Harlem and Walden. If you guys are from the area, you probably know where I'm talking about. There was like there was like a little hill that maybe oh, it went over the throughway, that's where it went over the 90. And yeah, crab apples. So there was this restaurant, lounge. It's not even a restaurant, it was like a bar slash lounge called crab apples. A lot of CD things came out of that. We would get like people that would go there and want to get picked up, and nobody was ever a problem. Nobody was ever a problem, but like it was definitely some of the greasier people that I would ever interact with, you know, definitely drugs, definitely just dirty, not hillbilly, because I don't have a problem with hillbilly, but dirty in in a sense of like just they're up to some shadiness. And uh, so this one guy, you know, I'm being real, I'm being real nice, and Richie and some of these other guys can can attest to like that. Matt Stoltman, like I can speak talk to pretty much anybody. I mean, I I brought that up at the about the ACDC show, and that's always been the case, even if I'm not high and drunk. Um, but this guy, you know, we got we not hit it off, but like we just got to having a good conversation. And I think he wanted to like hit at the time before 7-Eleven took over, it was a place called Wilson Farms. And I go, hey man, is it okay if we go to Wilson Farms? So I get like a 12-pack? Yeah, not a problem. And and he was there for like a week, so I I I when we went to Wilson Farm, like and I said this in the first one like if you were cool, I'll I'll I'll stop in places for you. I had no problem. I mean, I didn't go in there to get it for him, he did, but I'll wait for you. I don't I don't have no problem with that. I they had um the walkie-talkies. We always had the walkie-talkies, so um, so they knew where I was. I was within like a mile of the fucking uh hotel. You know, they were able to get in touch with me. And um he comes out, you know, he's got 12 pack or whatever, bud. Let's say bud, and then we go back to the hotel and drop him off. He goes, Hey man, thanks a lot. I go, Yeah, not a problem. So sure as shit, like the next day he's there again, and he goes, Hey, you want to drop me off at that crab apples? I'm like, Yeah, not a problem. Man, he's like, Oh, you're really cool. I'm like, uh, well, I'm just doing my job, dropped him off like it's The beginning of my shift. I think it was like a 3 to 11 shift. So I broke I I dropped this guy off. He's probably like in his late 30s, early 40s. Dropped him off at the beginning of the shift. And then about 9 o'clock, I think this had been a Saturday or Sunday. 9 o'clock, he um calls the hotel and asks to be picked up. So I'm like, Yep, I'll I'll be there on my way, you know. I whatever. If I had a if I had a uh airport pickup, I did an airport pickup. If I didn't, I would be right there. Went and got him, and he comes in with two girls, blondes. And as we're walking back, he's like, Do you mind if we stop uh at 7 eleven? I go, yeah, not a problem, man. So I stop at 7 Eleven. He goes in, grabs like no, it wasn't 71. It wasn't um it wasn't the 7-Eleven the second time it was the liquor store. You want to go to the liquor store? And I go, yeah, not a problem. So he went to the liquor store, came out with a couple bottles or something, and as we're driving back to the hotel from the liquor store, he's like, hey man, I got a proposition for you. And I'm like, okay. He's like, these two girls want to make some money, and we just need a place for them to hang that's safe. Could I would it be safe if I was to have the guys come to the hotel room and they just did their business out of the hotel room? So basically he was a pimp, and these girls were his, you know, employees. And I'm like, I'm like right there, and then my fucking heart sank. I'm like, oh fuck me, man. Like, I'm not gonna like no, like I'm not gonna get. And this is like after some of the drug busts and some of this other shit, and there was some shadiness, like, with shit that was going on there, and I'm like, I am not, I am not about to get myself like in. Hey, this guy knew I was I was pushing ass out of the room. And I, you know, he goes, I'll give you some money, or you want to get laid. I mean, he was like, all this stuff, and I'm like, nah, man, he's like, I really I can't do it. I can't like knowingly allow you to do it. So and I he shouldn't even have said anything, in all honesty. I mean, if I he didn't know what I knew, and basically you walk in there like you have a room or you're going to pick somebody up, you would just say, hey, uh Smith in room 111, and they would just, yeah, it's down there. Okay. Now, granted, granted, if there were a bunch of dudes coming in that ask for the same damn room every 20-30 minutes, and that has happened before, you know somebody's doing something, right? Somebody's somebody's doing something. But um, but I mean, I'm I'm the security guy technically, too. So, like, I mean, how am I gonna sit there and allow this shit to happen, right? And I'm not I didn't have no fucking allegiance to like comfort suites, but I did have allegiance to my family. I'm like, I'm not gonna sit there and go get arrested for for prostitution, like being like a fucking uh pimp. You know, like how is that gonna look? I do enough bad things as it is, I'm not gonna get into prostitution. Um so I kind of said, no, yeah, we can't do that. And we, you know, if we know it's happening, we'll have to do something. I didn't like threaten them, but like I just kind of said, dude, you can't you can't be doing it. He's oh no, I you know, I just I thought I'd I thought I'd ask. You know, he kind of played it off, and then that was it. If he did it or not, I wouldn't have known. But but that was yeah, he I could have I could have gotten a lot of money probably on that one if I wanted to, and I didn't want to, so it wasn't even it didn't even didn't even creep in my head as like a possibility. Um propositions, what else? Oh, well then there's also so I'm gonna talk about some of these hockey parents that would come in and these stewardesses that would come in. Now, I there's a cliche with the stewardesses. I would say 95-98% of the stewardesses that I met were very professional, they were married or whatever, or they were just good people, regular down-to-earth people, but there were some shady fucking people, and it also included the pilots. But in since we're talking about propositions, we're gonna talk about some of the stewardesses, and there's two or three, and then we're gonna talk about some of the um hockey moms, and there was probably more than that. Um, but again, someone there used to be this restaurant, I don't know if it's still there, it's on Union Road in Chicawaga called Autos. That was one of the places I would send a lot of people to, and I think a lot of the flight crews liked autos. It was like a local bar that had good food, had good wings and things like that, right? Close to the hotel. And uh they for the most part, when I get in the flight the flight crews, I'll I'll I'll talk about it a little bit more. But for the most part, they would drink pop. Alright, so Coke or Pepsi. I think every once in a while a flight attendant might have like a drink or two, which I didn't give a shit. They weren't flying the fucking plane. But you know, every once in a while they would have a uh a drink or two, and they would go there's usually like two pilots and like two f two um two um stewards'. And um huh there's once or twice, you know, a stewardess would come down and ask for like batteries for her broken remote, which I will that's another proposition I'll have to talk about. Or can I go to the liquor store real quick or to this to to Wilson Farms quote unquote 7 Eleven real quick to get something? I'm like, yeah, hop in the truck and we'll take you. Um we knew when those flight crews were leaving in the morning because we had the shuttle van already pre-set. Like if the if they're if the if the flight crews had to be there at 5 15 at 5 o'clock, you couldn't get on if you were a regular person. The flight crew is gonna take precedence because they they took so many rooms every day. They they booked like four rooms every night, which was like easy money for the hotel. CNRail, I talked about the CNRail guys. Um, those guys took like three or four rooms every night. They didn't necessarily get preference with the shuttle van, but we I did because I got along with those guys so well, they were really good guys. I always went above and beyond with them. It had nothing to do with the hotel, it was just getting to know them and you know becoming quote unquote acquaintances. But um, so the flight tenants would pick up a bottle. She's like, You want to come back to the room and split the bottle? No, you know, and and again, that's happened two or three times at least. We had um we had a manager, and this one he did go through with it. We had a manager once when I first started working there, and there was a relatively attractive woman that was an alcoholic, like a really bad alcoholic who was there for work. And housekeeping came to the manager and said, She shit in the bed. And there's stuff all over the place, like the room's destroyed. So he went down to I'm not gonna say his name. I went down, he went down to the door, knocked on the door, the lady opened up, fucking from what I he told a story, told the story. And she answered the door, kind of like half in the bag, but not really. And the place that she worked for was paying for everything. So like they're paying for the hotel rooms, they're paying for uh if there's damages, right? So she shit in the bed. She didn't break like a window or TV or anything, but like shit was just scattered about. Like it looked like things could have been broken, right? Maybe a maybe a light shade or something. I don't know. But it looked fucked up, supposedly, apparently. Allegedly. And he's like, I gotta, I gotta, this is I gotta charge you this stuff, and it's gonna go on your bill, and your your company's gonna your company. Oh yeah, there was oh yeah. She spilled like some rum or whiskey, one of the one of the two, on the carpet. So she goes, We gotta get the carpets clean because it smells so strong in here. And she's like, No, no, no, I'll do it. I'll do all I'll I'll get it cleaned up and I'll do everything. She's like, No, he's like, we have to charge you because I have to have housekeeping come in here and do this. She's like, I'll clean it. He's like, he's like, I I I'm not supposed to. She's like, well, let me suck your dick. So he got a blowjob from this woman because she was an alcoholic and like fucked up the room so that he wouldn't bill the room so that her employer didn't know. Cause she probably would have got sh I would assume this wasn't the first time, because she was I mean, when she would walk by, you could smell like the liquor on her fucking breath. And she wasn't even like talking to you. She would just walk by, you could smell it. It's like if you ever had somebody who smoked pipe and you or cigars and they walk by, you can just you just know that they did that. This woman, you could she must have been like it must have been like she must have been sweating it out her pores. But she wasn't there that long, she was there for like a month and she never came back. But she, yeah, she apparently she got her way with our hotel manager the one time. We had um we talked about hockey parents. We had um, I won't get into some of the more confrontational shit, but there was a lot of shenanigans going on by hockey parents. And I don't know, when I mean hockey parents, is this um so Buffalo in March has this like month-long or even longer than that, these tournaments. It's part of what's called the and I don't know if they change it. This is going back 20 years or more, but it was called the Pepsi Hockey Tournament, and I believe it was in Amherst, but maybe it's spread out or maybe it's changed, I don't know. But teams from all over would would come to Buffalo to play other teams, right? Now, teams that came from super far away, like, and I mean super far away, but like say Philly, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, sh um uh God, Boston, maybe, maybe like Chicago or St. Louis or Indianapolis, you know, Ohio area, when those those families came, they wanted to do like the Niagara Falls, they wanted to do Duffs, they wanted to do all like the touristy things that I guess you can say you'd want to do if you ever visited the area. Okay, I understand that. But when teams from, say, Rochester or parts of Ontario or Syracuse or Erie, Pennsylvania generally, those are like the big areas that I remember when those teams came, and we asked, because then we had to prepare for it. But when those teams came, we knew it was going to be a rowdier weekend. There were times where we had 100% sell out, all hockey parents, uh all hockey people, with the exception of the CNRL guys and the air airplane, you know, the air crews. And because they didn't even live within, say, a three-hour, four-hour radius of Buffalo, they were there, restaurants and and and all the fun stuff, right? They did all the stuff that they could possibly do while they're in Buffalo to see Buffalo, Niagara Falls, all that shit. Now, the people that were from here, they didn't give a fuck about the falls because the falls are there. Like you can take an hour drive, two-hour drive, you're then you're in the falls. Like, what's the big whoop? So they came to fucking party, and the kids were like all the age groups, but they were younger, they were fucking a bunch of piss pots because they were never like watched by their parents, and they had these little fucking mini sticks that they would constantly play hockey in the hallway. Now, again, like I said, I was security, so I had to get there and guys got to get in your room, gotta get in your room, gotta get in your room. It really pissed me off. And if they owned the whole fucking hotel, I wouldn't have given a shit. But we had CNRail guys that had to get up early, or you know, they weren't there for that bullshit. And then we had airline crews that I knew some of those crews had to get up early, and they weren't there for that bullshit. And yeah, we tried to put them on the upstairs, the far end of the corner, but again, the kids just were kids. So we always had like what room are in kid, and then I had to go talk to the parents, and for the most part, I would say like 85% of the time, the parents are oh, I'm sorry. He's like, Yeah, just keep them on your side of the hotel. Like he their kids are wandering. Could you just because we have people there that can't have that? And they're like, Okay, not a problem. I'll get to later about some of the confrontational parents that didn't give a fuck about that. But for the most part, those those parents were chill, chill, at least. And they would take over the lobby, and they would take over the pool area. And if they were cool, I would give them some leeway. But if they were dicks, I would I would tighten the purse strings, I would tighten those fucking restrictions, I would make up rules just to fucking fuck them over. Cause we didn't have a time on the pool, and then I would say 10 o'clock is usually like the time we should we'd turn out the lights and shut everything down. I would throw chemical in the pool and in the um in the uh were in the hot tub, let it like dissipate over the course of the 12 hours until or whatever, longer than that. Yeah, 12 hours maybe, or eight hours until it opened up again in the morning. But if someone was cool, I would be like, yeah, you know what, I'll give you guys like can I give you guys like another half hour hour? And then like at 11, they were usually out of there. And I just like I'm not I don't have to be the bad guy, you know, and they were you know, maybe they were maybe they were happy that I did that for them. You know, I wasn't being a dick. Well, we had parents fucking in the pool, like when I shut the light off, going in there, fucking people and it wasn't always just the hockey parents. I thought I think we had other people that did that, but the hockey parents were notorious for it from close by. Again, Rochester, Syracuse, Erie, Pennsylvania, and like southern Ontario. Even Toronto, but whatever. Fucking in the pool. Um, someone said that they were I I hew our our conference room is right above the office on the second floor. You can and then when it's shut, you heard a like a loud clamp. And um and you can hear it. So like I'm like, alright, someone's in the conference room. Great. Why why didn't we lock it? I you know what? I don't know. I couldn't explain maybe they had it for a point of time for pizza and pop and shit for like when they wanted to eat their dinners and stuff like that. Maybe that's why. I don't fucking clue. Either way, housekeeping cleaned it. They are the ones that locked it up. I didn't fucking have to deal with it, but I probably should have locked it up. Hear the door slam, and I walk in there, and there's literally like three guys lined up getting blowjobs from a like a mom. And I remember one mom was like, she shouldn't have been there. Like what I mean that she should have like she looked innocent. I mean, obviously she wasn't, but she was obviously drunk, and it's like, man, you look like a soccer mom that I would see just driving down in a damn Astro van with her kids, and here you are with three dudes lined up in front of you, like, oh so disgrace. Get the fuck out, get the fuck out. I go, get out, get out before I kick you out, get out before I kick you out. I I that happened like I think twice. A lot more times in the pool, though. A lot of sex in the pool. That's why I won't go po I won't go swimming in fucking hotel pool. You guys can do whatever you want. Yeah, the shit they put in there kills everything. Blah blah blah blah blah. There's been there's and I'm not even talking about the dirty people. The dirty, that's a whole nother conversation. The scuzy people that don't wash their ass, that don't take showers before they go in. And I've seen all types. I never would go, especially in an indoor pool. Like I'd do a Disney or uh or Vegas pool or something like that where you you knew they they kind of had their shit in gear, but like these third-rate hotel pools, fuck no. No ain't God's green earth. There's so much hair and shit and piss and semen. So much shit in that water. Never in a million years, never in a million years, whatever we're going in that water. But yeah, so I there was a lot of sex going on in that hotel. I think we had somebody from the Frontex's young kid was dating a housekeeper, and he would like disappear for a half hour and he was fucking her in the housekeeping. I was like, well, I go, yeah, as long as you're doing it in housekeeping, I you don't bother me, none. But like, you know, like shit, they were kids. The convicts were running the asylum at that place basically, too. So we weren't all innocent, but a lot of those hockey moms were bad. And since I'm on this on the on the subject of sex, hot sex, um, Canadian nurses. Oh, Jesus. So Canadian in general would they would they like to fly out of Buffalo when they were going to Disney or a lot of the of the domestic flights because it was cheaper for them to fly down from Can or drive down from Canada. They could park their car at the hotel, we would drop them off, pick them up, and they could spend the night. So like it was like a win-win situation for them. And other Canadians wouldn't who didn't utilize that say would come down and they would go shopping. Because from what and I do know this firsthand from many Canadians, not just one group, but probably over the course of six years, probably a hundred Canadians, and it was that, and this is going back in the early 2000s, that the choice when you go to the store was greater in America. So they would have like A and B in Canada, but in but in Buffalo, they have like versions A, B, C, D, and E. And they like that. Obviously, if you're a female and you want to buy different colored clothing and styles, maybe that is what entices you, obviously. Or but it was in November, October, November, it was a lot of these groups would come down to go Christmas shopping. And every year, for like four years, we had on two separate weekends, Canadian nurses. One group came from Barrie, Ontario, which I think is like north of Toronto, and then another group came from Hamilton, Ontario. And they would get like six or seven rooms, two girls to a room. They were all probably in there. Most of almost all of them were married. They probably all were married. Because I don't you get a young nurse, she might not be married, but you get an older nurse, they're they're they're generally married because that's a good paying job. And I mean, come on, nurses are kind of pretty in most cases, and you got a hot chick, make good money, blah blah blah. You know, like it's not hard for them to find a husband. And anyway, that's not really what that's about. But these girls would come down and they would get shit-faced. They would get shit-faced, and they would go show like go shopping, they would eat, and then they would get shit-faced. And it was like a way for them to get out of away from their kids or get away from their husbands. And you know, I'm driving the van, so I'm hearing all these fucking stories. Some girls, some ladies would go to like I think it was like a Jack Astor's. I don't know if it's still a thing, but it was like a restaurant bar at the Galleria Mall in Buffalo in Chicago, and they're like, Oh, that dude wanted to fuck you. He's like, Yeah, he's coming over later. Like, you'd hear all these fucking conversations, like, you know, like it was just whatever. And so there was like this one woman who was a little older, but she really wasn't. But like she was older, and but she was again, she was innocent, and all her friends were fucking shit face drunk, out of their minds, and they're like propositioning her to me in the van. I'm like, no, I'm married, I'm married, I'm married. And and I'm like, you know, she's and she I go, you seem very sweet, you know, thank you, but no, like you know, it's all good, and blah blah blah. But these these Canadian nurses would fuck. I mean, we've seen guys walking out of the hotel room at three and four in the morning, giving each other I I saw this once. Two guys walking out of a hotel room and they were giving each other high fives. So they must either did one girl or two girls, so they must have had like a four or something. Oh, but it's like I'm thinking to myself, oh man, I would like to be a fly, well not really, but to be a fly in that room and what they probably fucking did. But every fucking year, these girls came down, these women, they weren't girls, these women came down, and they were just after they went shopping and after they ate, they were fucking. Every fucking weekend. And they were all, like I said, they were all fucking married or had kids at least. Um that was really a lot of the proposition, sex, a lot of sex. Um Hockey parents. I talked space a little bit about the moms who like to give head to the to the dads. Oh, I'll go back one on the proposition. Um, and I don't know if they ever ended up doing it or not, but I had a guy and a girl come in once and they asked if we allow people to film in the room. Like film a per porn. And I'm like, no, I don't think they do. Like I was like, I don't know, dude. Like, why would you ask me for permission? Like, dude, what am I gonna fucking give you guys water and ice buckets? Like, fucking do it. Like, uh, I don't know. Like, I why people ask these stupid questions baffled me sometimes. But that was a thing that they did ask if we allowed if we allowed filming, like, well, people obviously fuck in the hotel. I mean, if we might call you, say, calm the fuck down a little bit with the fucking like moaning and groaning, but like, how would we know a camera is being like used? Whatever. But that would that that was also a thing, but not a thing. It it was brought up once. So yeah, prostitution, pornos, mom's fucking dads, like not their husbands, but fucking other dads. And nurses wanting to fuck everybody, some flight attendants wanted to fuck. Uh no one else, it's not really about sex, but it so there was I I think I cock blocked somebody once, and I did it on purpose, too. So this woman checked into the hotel, and she looked like she was scared. She looked like she was scared, and um, she goes, I need to pick up a friend. So I'm like, okay, and she's like, but can I get a ride because I don't want to use my car? I'm like, sure. So like I think there was a there's a Wegman's on Dick Road and George Urban, it was something like around there somewhere. So this guy gets in and he's like kind of like shady, real older, much old, much older guy, but really like scrawny and dirty. And shh, and I hear them talking to back. He's like, Hi, nice to meet you. And he goes, nice to meet you. He's like, Did you get a hotel room? And she's like, Yeah. He's like, Oh, okay, he'll he's gonna take me there now. So we he goes, Hey man, can we stop at a liquor store? And I'm like, Yeah, you guys want to go to the liquor store? I I don't have a problem with that. They gave me no reasons at all to to what do you call it? So he goes in the liquor store and she's like, oh no. Like she gets he gets out, he gets out of the car, and she goes, Oh no. And I go, what? She's like, I think I made a mistake. I'm like, what, with this guy? She's like, yeah. She's like, I don't think I want to go through with this. I'm like, do you want me to leave? She's like, you'd leave? I go, fuck yeah, I'll leave. She's like, I don't give a fuck. So I go, does he know what room you're in? And she goes, well he doesn't know my car, but he knows I have a hotel room there. Did I go, did you tell him what room you're in? She's like, yes. I'm like, okay. Well I can figure that out. It was a dead, it was a slow night. So okay, you want out? She's like, yeah. And we were about a mile or two or three away from the damn hotel. About probably about a mile and a half away from the hotel. And so I back up. He's in the bar. Here he's in the liquor. So I really fucked this guy over. And I back up and I take off with her. And we go back to the hotel room and I go, don't go to your room just yet. And I go and I looked at what kind of room she had. I go, but ten rooms down. I have another room for you. I go, Do you want this key? Just you know, get your shit, go into that room, and don't even worry about the the the old room. Like, don't even worry about it. Don't get don't walk down the key. Don't do it. And just and I was waiting for this guy to come in the door. Because if he saw the hotel, he would have seen that it was a comfort suite. I was just waiting for him to come through the door. And I would place to tell him to get the fuck out because I knew he didn't have a room. And but he never showed up. But like she was so relieved, and I'm like, well lady, and I shouldn't myself, like, you know what? I go, no, no, like whatever, but like you shouldn't be doing that shit. Like some random. And like the guy looked shady and he looked greasy. And thank God she said that. She wouldn't have said that. I probably wouldn't even have. I was probably thinking things in my head, like, why the fuck is she with him? But but if she wouldn't have said that, I probably wouldn't have done anything. Because I wouldn't have thought to do anything. But yeah, that that was also it wasn't a proposition, but obviously they were there just to well sacks, but like were they there? Like, was he would he hurt her or something? That was, I think, my more more of my concern on that. But I definitely cockpalked that guy that day, but I don't give a fuck. He might have been a local Buffalo guy, and she might have been from out of town. I or maybe they're both local. I don't know. Um hockey parents. Um, so yeah, like I said, uh the moms for the most part were cool. Some of them were whores. The dads were for the most part were cool, some of them were total fucking assholes and douchebags. Um talked about the sex part of it, but we didn't really talk about some of the confrontational bullshit that I had to deal with with these fucking pieces of shit. So yeah, these people that were local. And then buff people in Buffalo never stayed in the hotel. It was really people from Rochester. Maybe there were some like Canadaguas or some hick towns in the in the I don't, who knows? But Rochester, Syracuse, Erie, Can Canada for the most part, like local Canada. Um they just went there to fucking play hockey and get drunk. And I wasn't dealing with like you can drink. I had no I mean, who am I, right? I had no problem with you gonna drink, but if you're gonna like hang out in the lobby, you're gonna like at least be somewhat respectful, you know, because we have other guests kind of coming in and out, or you might have teams that aren't part of their group that were from, say, St. Louis or uh, you know, Charlotte or something like that, and they were there to to just do the touristy stuff, play hockey, and then go to bed and not be woken up at three in the morning because kids are playing hockey outside their door. Or fucking drunk parents hanging outside in the hallway outside of their um outside of their rooms instead of going in their rooms. So again, I would I would put the kibosh on, okay, you guys want to be here, but we gotta be like, you know, level the noise levels gotta be reasonable. And I would say the ones that did come to drink, I would say half of them or more than half were pretty respectful to that. You know what I'm saying? Like they they were kind of, but some people I think they were just there to like get away from reality, but just because they needed it to escape something doesn't mean they have to throw that shit on my lap or on the laps of other people that were at the hotel. And um there's one that I I probably I probably should have put my hands on the guy, but in a way I'm happy I didn't. So this was again the the Pepsi hockey tournaments which ran in March. They might bleed into April a little bit, or they might bleed into February a little bit, but they're they're like a March thing here, or these they were. And this group of fathers are like in their doorways, and they prop the doorways open with like say their coolers and shit, and the kids are running up and down the hall, and they're just fucking drinking. And this particular area down the hall, we had CN Rail guys, and we had the um we had the air airline crews. So I'm like, listen, if you guys want to go down to the main lobby, you guys can drink in the main lobby. I got a TV, there's a fireplace, you guys can hang out, there's more than enough seating, and then we'd have no problem. But we have people down this hallway that can't be staying up this late. And you'd hear the guy go, oh no, it's okay. You know, somebody goes, Oh, it's okay, we'll do that, or we're just about to call it a night. Fucking half hour later, I get a phone call from one of those crews saying they're still screaming, kids are running up and down the hall. I go, guy, I go to the kids, I go, guys, you gotta go in your room. You can't you can't be running up and down. Whoa, whoa, whoa, you don't tell my kid what to do. I go, well then you tell your fucking kid what to do. Because I told you, I asked you nicely a couple times already, and you now you're gonna now you're just being disrespectful and you're fucking ignoring me. So some of those dads quickly understood I was not fucking around anymore, so they got their kids in the rooms. But one fucking this is this is one specific incident that happened, and I'm I should have fucking killed him. I probably should have fucking killed him. But he he openly like challenged me in front of everybody, right there and then. Right there and then I was like, okay, you're probably not gonna be done. Right, I'm not I don't give you a second chance. I kinda already did by asking you nicely to like go in your rooms. And he goes, What are you gonna do about it, big boy? And he stepped up to me, got right in my face. And I I go, What? You your room, you guys are out. I'm kicking you guys are out, you guys have been kicked out. I want all your shit, you guys are boo getting out. He's like, We're not leaving. I go, You're not leaving? Okay, well then all it does is take all I have to do is call the Chicawaka police and they'll come down with me and then we'll escort you out. And everybody's like, no, no, no, no, you can't do that. The kids, the kids, the kids. And this guy is not fucking seeing shit. He's just staring right at me. Staring right at me. And I'm like, no, this motherfucker. And I like I didn't I have my finger in his face, but like kind of like higher. I go, this motherfucker's out. His room, they're gone. If you guys want to absorb some of his kids, I don't give a shit. I'm not gonna ask questions, but this motherfucker's out. And as I'm going, he fucking puts his his like his uh shoulder to like try to stop me from getting around him. But uh for those who don't know me, I'm I'm a very large man. Like there's this little pissant, this little hockey player, this little I I did really good in high school. I was 5'10 and I weighed 160 pounds, and I was really fast. Dude, I eat I there's pieces of corn in my shit that are bigger than you, man. Like, I am not fucking worried about it. I'm not worried about you at all. Fucking all, Pips Creek. And um I go, now you're fucking, now you're out. And I might I go, and that's a salt motherfucker. And I go, but now you're fucking out. So I went back and I I took their like registration. They I charged them for the night. They didn't, they didn't, they didn't get a the refund. Got their shit. I came back up, I gave them the receipt. I go, you have your shit? He's like, no, we're not leaving. I go, okay, here's your receipt. I walked back, called 911, not emergency. Uh called 911. They came. They we we knew them very well. We hooked them guys up with free breakfast, and we hooked this up. We had like uh every once in a while we had free meals, like uh dinner, and some of the cops would come in and we would like, hey, if you help us out, we'll help you out help yourself the pizza and wings and shit. Because it was donated, but it was for the guests, but like half the time that food was wasted anyways. So they were real cool. Cops came up, what room? This room right here, this guy right here. I go, if the kids want to stay, that's on them. Like that's for the other parents. This guy's out. That room is to be emptied. He's like, come on, let's go. He's like, this is fucking bullshit. And then they got that fight with them. He ended up getting booted out, and I don't know what he did, but I if if it wasn't in that setting, like if that happened to a bar, yeah, I would have, I we would have fucking went down, especially back then. Like I'm not like I'm I mean I'm I'm 55 now. I'm I'm an older guy, but back then, yeah, I would have been a fuck I would have went on, I would have wanted to go. I still kind of want to go with people every once in a while, but that one I definitely would have wanted to throw down. That guy was a fucking I would have loved to have fucking fucking raped that guy right in front of his fucking kids, and I would have I would have fucking destroyed that motherfucker. I headbunt. I would have just got him right on the ground. He there's no way he could have out he could have muscled out of that, and then I just would have took my head, my fucking 30-pound skull, and just would have gone crushed right on his fucking face. Oh, I still get fucking I as you can tell I'm getting upset by it. That motherfucker. I don't even know where they were from. They're American, they weren't Canadian. So they had to been like, like I said, you know, local, but like not local, but close local. I think we had flight crews. So flight crews for the most part were really good, professional, but they were young. Um they're like kind of like newer, they couldn't get into US Air, United, Delta, Continental, whatever they were back in the day. Southwest stayed in another hotel. Um, but they probably couldn't get into Southwest either. I went to I go to New Orleans like every other year, and I like going Delta, and you know, they usually like going Delta, and they're probably gonna be retired now by now. Well now you have the now you have the Persian Golf guys, so I'm okay with that. But like we went down to Delta Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, to New Orleans one year, and the Delta pilot was talking about how he he was in Vietnam or something like that. And I'm like, you know what? That's the kind of pilot I want. I want a fighter pilot, I want an Air Force, Navy, Marine, Army flying by plane. I don't want like Jimmy who fell, you know, was a customer service rep like I was and now went to pilot school. Now, there are a lot of those out there, and I'm not saying there can't be good flight pilots, I know they can be. But the problem isn't the pilot in some of these cases, it's the fucking company. Just like that crash that happened in Buffalo 20 years ago or whenever it was, and they didn't get the proper training, and they made the wrong move, and the plane ended up going down right down a thousand feet, killed everybody, killed a guy on the ground and everything. And it was shown through Senate hearings and everything that they never received the appropriate training to fly in conditions that caused it. And um, so my level of well, it didn't happen yet, but like my level of respect for them was very low to begin with, because I interacted with them. I'm thinking these guys are getting drunk and that, and and there were two or three cases where somebody's coming down at fucking five o'clock in the morning, and it was never me, it was always HR going, or HR, God, I keep saying that. It was uh housekeeping saying there's fucking liquor bottles and that guy's fucking in that in that guy's uh trash can, and we would call Buffalo airport, there was a hotline, and we let them know, and then whether they got checked or not, I don't know, but we did our part. Because we we knew if they were drinking at 11 o'clock and eight o'clock at night or eleven o'clock at night, and they had to get up at five in the morning for a flight, that there's no guarantee that guy's still sober. So whatever the housekeeping had found liquor bottles, and we told those people. I I know I did. If you guys are gonna drink, that's fine, but like bring your shit down so at least we know when you're done drinking, because like if if you guys leave your liquor bottles and shit like that in your room, we're gonna assume you were drinking all night. So those those those people, there's at least two or three I know that housekeeping had a call. Don't know if but then then you watch the news and you hear stories about how a pilot got into the cockpit and like a co-pilot fucking busted him, or the gate security busted him. You hear it all the time about pilots getting drunk and be trying to get on the plane to fly the fucking plane. Fuck that. It'd be one thing for me to have uh, and I'm sure legally they can't be either, but it's one thing for me to have a flight attendant to have like a little hangover. I don't want my fucking pilots to have a hangover. That's some fucking that's some shit, man. But yeah, I mean that was my experience with the hotel. Again, and I'll bring it back to what I said at the beginning of of uh part one on a hotel was that I did it mainly so that it allowed me to study and do the the schoolwork that I needed to do because I was going to school for um to be a teacher, high school, secondary education in English, which I was for a few years. But um but that gave me that flexibility, and I would say with the exception of the weekends, it was like I I had eight hours or seven seven I probably had seven hours to study. You know, so I got all my homework done, I got all my reading done, I got I would have to do like mock lesson plans and shit like that, or I had to follow certain things like that that school. This this wasn't when I was a teacher, this was when I was uh in class or in school and they had you do mock lesson plans and bullshit like that. Now, for those of you that might be in school for teaching, it's good that you learn how to do a lesson plan, but when you get to your school, your principal's gonna tell you how he wants or she wants those done. So no matter what you learn in school, you know, the monkey wants peanuts, you give him peanuts. But it's a one of those professions where classroom management has to be key in today's day and age. Uh you have to know your shit, but that should go without saying. And then really it's gonna be the administration that's gonna tell you how to do it, where to cover it, when to cover it, how to cover it, type of thing. Like not how to cover it, but like you know, this semester, this this grading period, we're doing Romeo and Juliet. Right? And this is how I want your lessons to look when you give them in to me on a weekly or bi-weekly or monthly basis, depending on what the principal's um standards or requirements were. But my point is this is like it was a good job if you're going to school. It really was. Um it gives you that flexibility. I'm not saying every hotel is that way. I mean, if you're probably at a really nice hotel, a classy hotel, probably not. You probably have to do like real work and shit. But for me, like three to five, I actually did some work, and then uh in this one I worked three to eleven, and then for and then maybe had a few pickups throughout the shift. But like during the week, man, nothing. Nothing. And I got to meet some interesting people. I really, really enjoyed a lot of the guys from CNRL. They're all they all gotta be retired by now, all the ones that I knew are even passed away. I mean, they were they were like in their late 60s back in in 2003, 2004, 2005, like they were right on the precipice of retiring. I would assume they gotta be close in their into their in their 90s now. Real good guys though. And um some of the flight crews are real nice. My co-workers for the most part, like I said, there's that preacher guy that was good that that born again was kind of a dick. But even when people didn't pan out, you know, they were they were just trying to, you know, I don't know, try to find their groove. That's what it all boils down to, I guess. But that's the end of uh my hotels. Part one was done, and now part two is complete. If I do reference it in the future, it might just be a short little story that might be attached to something else that we're talking about. And it is uh Monday, July 27th. I am going to talk to Richie and see if we can do a uh wrap-up show number three for his perspective, which doesn't make any sense because I told 100% truth on the AC DC trip. But maybe we'll do an ACDC wrap up show at some point in the near uh in the next week. It'd be nice if I can get Richie back in the studio. We will see. So, with that, thank you everybody, and uh have a good one. Bye bye.
