Chat EYT the Podcast
This is the podcast for the people doing the real work in Pilates — teachers, studio owners, and the people thinking about becoming either. The kind of show you wish someone had been making all along.
Hosted by Jessica Spillane — founder of EYT Pilates Teacher Training with more than twenty years of experience across every side of the industry — Chat EYT is what happens when someone who’s truly done it all sits down to answer the questions you’ve been asking, the questions you didn’t know to ask, and a few nobody else has bothered to answer yet.
Teaching. Cueing. Anatomy. Business. Leases. Pricing. Hiring. Burnout. The work. The why. The wisdom that usually only comes from a mentor down the hall — except most of us don’t have one of those.
Now you do.
Not New. Not Cool. Not Holding Back.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Chat EYT podcast. I'm your host, Jessica Spillane. In an age where so many like to refer to themselves as Pilates princesses, I like to refer to myself as a Pilates queen mother. I have owned and operated a brick-and-mortar studio for twenty-five years, have been teaching teachers for eighteen years, have started studios from scratch, acquired studios, sold studios, and everything in between. I have quite literally been on all sides of this business. And for twenty of those twenty-five years, there was steady and sustainable growth. Studios expanded at normal rates. Our staffing was generally able to keep up with the demand. But what we've seen in the past five years has quite literally blown the minds of most of the veterans in this industry. Now, Pilates is everywhere. People are discovering it, falling in love with it, building careers around it. And that growth is amazing to watch and participate in. But no industry or business can experience rapid growth without there being consequences. We've seen education get rushed because there's such desperation to hire. Mentorship has diluted or disappeared completely because there just aren't enough teachers with fifteen, twenty, or thirty years of experience. And I sincerely believe that the teachers and studios owners of today, the ones coming up behind us, they deserve so much more than that, if not for their own success, but for the overall health and success of our industry. Chat EYT, the podcast, is where we have the real conversations, the ones that make you a better teacher, a smarter business owner, and a more confident voice in this industry. The topics discussed on the pod are real and inspired from my mentorship calls with apprentices, graduates, and of course, the conversations that we have in the Pilates Studio Owner Network on Facebook, which I also administrate. So whether you're just starting out or you've been at this for years, you belong here with us. Now let's swan dive into this thing.
