SPEAKER_09We would like to welcome everyone to North High Baseball Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. Uh it's it's a little balmy today, John, hoping for a little bit of breeze up here in the press box to keep us cool.
SPEAKER_06Little humid, a little warm, but let me tell you, this is baseball weather. This is the kind of weather I love to play in, and it doesn't take long to get warmed up, so it's just gorgeous.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I know we talked to asked you that the other day. I said, Did you hate days like this when it was as hot like it was up at MLC on Monday? And you said no, I wore the long sleeve shirt and everything in this kind of weather.
SPEAKER_06Well you I tell you what, man, there's nothing like there's nothing like a doubleheader when you're just solid sweat.
SPEAKER_09It's a lot easier when you and I had about a 40 minute 45 minute drive home on Monday. So we had plenty of time to rehash that, and I don't know that we want to talk about that too much. We did plenty of talking, and I think maybe we can look forward and talk about tonight. But a little bit a couple of things that come to mind for you Monday night that that maybe we need to see differently tonight.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I thought about that, Mike. Uh uh especially uh the next day and and and as we talked, there were a lot of good things done from that game. Yeah, you got to put the game in the rearview mirror, but there were there were a lot of positives, and and and if I'm coach, I'm using positive, negative, positive lookout for this game tonight with the with the MOC game. Um and I wrote a few things down that uh that I think Keelan needs to do in order to come here and be successful tonight. Like I said, positive, negative, positive. You know, coach needs to accentuate the positives, especially situation ball that we're gonna do.

SPEAKER_06One thing that we need to work on, and you and I talked about it on the way home, and I'll get your opinion on this as well, our on-base percentage. Um we need to we need to whatever it takes to get on base, we need to start doing that. And that and that starts with having good at bats every at bat.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's true. It's uh it's tough when out of 21 outs you've got 19 strikeouts. But uh early on in the game, when they were able to get on, they were able to get things do some positive things and and make some things happen, and then they reached that stretch between the third and the sixth inning where they just couldn't get money on base.
SPEAKER_06No, no, and and and again, that just gets back to the fundamentals. Um I talked to coach a little bit about that soft toss, hitting off of the T, keeping that head into the shoulder when you're doing soft toss and hitting off of the T, uh, soft pitch, uh things like that. You know, just get back in the cage and and repetition, repetition, repetition.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, most definitely. And uh don't want to harp on it too much because you and I did a lot on the way home, but uh the bottom of the batting order has got to start hitting the ball. They've got to find ways to get on base.
SPEAKER_06No question, no question. And uh and you know what, and we're in the city games, these kids play together, this is the time to do it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's it's not for lack of effort. I mean, they're up there, they're taking their cuts, they're taking their swings, they just they haven't found the ability to be able to put the ball into play, and you know, at the top of the order, the way it is, if the bottom can come through, it this team's gonna be tough to beat with the pitching that they've got. I mean the pitching that we've had, uh you can throw out three innings that Nathan Gaswin had on Monday. That was very uncharacteristic of that young man. I mean, he went from 0.00 ERA to still respectable 4.08 somewhere in that area. So, I mean it's still respectable, but it's not nearly indicative of what he's able to do. So the bottom of this batting order can start putting the ball in play and getting on base. Uh, this can be a really dangerous team.
SPEAKER_06And I agree. And and and last but not least, getting back to that to the positive at the end, Mike, forget about MOC. Talk about the good things we did and use that to build for tonight. I mean, tonight's a brand new doubleheader.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely. This is you're back in the MRAC now, and uh this is a conference that you want to do well in and you want to win. And you know, right now they sit atop the conference at uh 4-0. Their one blemish is MOC, so they're in good shape in the in the MRAC, and and they want to keep that position and and and stay on top of everything. We're gonna take a quick two-minute break, and then we'll be back with starting lineups and get ready for tonight's game.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back, everyone, to North High. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. I'm going to get the starting lineups for each team going here. For the Healing Crusaders, JJ Hope leading off comes into this game with a batting average of 429. He will be at shortstop. Batting second will be Peyton Erickson, batting average of 308. He will be playing catcher. Batting third in DHing and pitching. Caleb LeFaver with a batting average of 533 coming into this game. Batting fourth, Brody Shaner, batting average of 312, he'll be at third base. Tommy Carroll in the fifth slot, batting 364, he'll be in left field. Nathan Gaswin will be batting sixth. He'll be playing right field, batting average of.091. Aiden Lefaver be playing first base, batting seventh. He does not have a hit this year, but he's got two RBIs and hasn't made contact, so that's big. We'll talk about that some more later. Absolutely. Chase Beck batting eighth at second base. He is.091. And playing center field is Dylan Knapp, batting average of.091. For the North Stars, leading off will be White. He'll be pitching. He has a batting average of 375. Moganson will be batting second. He'll be playing first base. He's also got a batting average of 375. Henry will be batting third, playing center field. He has a batting average of 385. Batting fourth, shrunk, he'll be playing catcher, and his batting average is 0.533. Batting fifth and DH'ing will be Nillis. His batting average is.333. Whitney will be playing left field batting sixth. He also has a.333 batting average. Werheim batting seventh, playing third base, 600 batting average. Kling will be at shortstop, batting eighth. He has a batting average of.000. And batting ninth will be McCormick. He has a batting average of 250. And he will be at second. Moganson will be out in right field, and he is being DH4 by Nillis. John, I know you talked to the coaches before the game like you always do, and you've got some keys from both of them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, first of all, for North High School, we've got a brand new coach and Coach McLaughlin. He took over for Coach Tillow. And um talking to him before the game, he some some players that he wanted to uh kind of say that's kind of kind of jumped out to everybody else and and and is is showing some and uh quite a bit of potential, and that's Evan Schrunk, Trey Henry, and Joe Nillis. All three of those kind of taking the leadership role for the North High Stars. Before the season, pitching was their biggest question mark. Um they started off the season with East High School and they threw eight eight different pitchers, and they threw eight different pitchers in that game, and he kind of felt like out of that eight against East, you know, they kind of took a beating, but he kind of saw the three that that might be standed out a little bit more than everybody else. And so he's kind of excited about that, that he's kind of got his pitching lineup a little more organized. Tonight against Healing, against LaFavre, especially, is they got to make contact, get on base. They're 22 of 22 stealing the base, Mike, which is pretty pretty good. Um, since East, they 10 run ruled Harlan, and then they also uh had lopsided games against TJ. So again, base running, making contact against LaFavor is the key for them. For us, uh talked to Coach Um talked to Coach Wesselman uh before the game, and and uh, and of course he says to forget about the other night. Forget about MOC, take the positives that we did do, and like I talked to you know a little earlier, the first couple innings and the last inning. They get they did some good things. And he he said to me exactly what I said to you on the way home is that their situation baseball in the in that time was excellent. Their base running, etc. They want to put the ball in play. We will run, and and he knows they will run, so the key is Erickson getting a couple of them right off the bat. This is their first time on grass, so how do they handle the weird hops? Just kind of curious about that, you know, and and so that'll be different. And then obviously, all 11 runs MOC had the other night were with two outs. We need to have better two out focus, and he accentuated that with the team before the game, and he's gonna be on them all game with two outs.
SPEAKER_09Awesome, awesome. Let's take a quick 30-second break as the teams get ready to take the field, and we will be back for Healing Baseball.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back, folks, as we're waiting for the game to start. Uh Nolan White is out on the mound to start for North tonight. He has a 1-0 record. He's pitched five innings. Teams have a batting average of 316 against him. He's given up six hits, four runs, three of those earned. He's walked three, he's hit two, and he has struck out three. He has an ERA of 4.20. They come into this game, the North Stars do, with a three-and-two record on the season and a two-and-two record in the MRAC. So they're looking to get a win or two tonight and get right back in the race, John.
SPEAKER_06Absolutely, and uh we've got a tall, tall, lanky pitcher. Um I've been kind of watching him warm up here and throws quite a few benders. Kind of that slow bender on the outside corner, Mike. You know, again, talked about being patient at the bat, step back, take a deep breath, take that thing to right field.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you got your hands full tonight calling pitches because this first time we haven't been behind the plate. We're right down even with first base, folks. So if if we miss the right pitch, then uh it's because we can't see it.
SPEAKER_06Well, I'll tell you what, at least we have a little shade over here, which is and it's a little cooler than it was the other night. Yeah, a lot cooler. Wow, this is exciting. What a beautiful field looks absolutely gorgeous here. They've done a nice job with it. Yes, they have.
SPEAKER_09JJ Hope steps in to lead off for the Crusaders. Pitcher looks in for the sign and the wind up. Here's the first pitch. Yeah, a little low.
SPEAKER_06A little low on the outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Pitches outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. This might be a matchup of two of the tallest pitchers in the state. Yeah, that's a kid. JJ grounds that sharply to shortstop. Good play by the shortstop. Throw over to first. JJ Hope is retired. First out. Well, you gotta get the ball out of the glove quick when JJ's up, man. Absolutely. Sometimes you lose your focus a little bit whenever you're thinking, I gotta hurry and do this. Erickson steps in, batting 308 and catching tonight.
SPEAKER_06Looks like he's right around the plate. Even the curveball that missed, he's right around the plate, so we're gonna get stuff to hit. Pitch low and outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Yeah, Coach McLaughlin really talked highly about this sophomore catcher of theirs, and so it'll be interesting to see the matchup.
SPEAKER_09Pitcher looks in, starts his windup, and here's the pitch. Another pitch low for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Good patience right now by Peyton. Here's the pitch. Pitch in there for strike one.
SPEAKER_06Two balls, one strike. He hasn't thrown Ericsson that curve yet. Just three straight fastballs. Let's see if he comes back with it. That's tough.
SPEAKER_09Ball gets under the shortstops glove, goes out into left field for a base hit. Erickson on first with one out, brings Caleb the Favor to the plate.
SPEAKER_06Beautiful piece of hitting by Erickson there. Just being patient and taking what the pitcher gave him.
SPEAKER_09And our favorite pinch runner. Let's see the number. Make sure we get it right. Yep. Heaton comes out to pinch run for Peyton. LeFavor steps in, the pitcher checks over to first base. Steps off the mound, or the rubber.
SPEAKER_06I'd say LeFavor's been hitting the ball hard as an understatement.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's he's made really good contact this year. That pitch, the breaking ball looked like in there for a strike, strike one. No balls one strike. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Well, that's the first changeup I've seen. I don't think that was a curve. I think that was a change.
SPEAKER_09Pitcher deals. Ball fouled sharply down the left field line out of play. Strike two. No balls, two strikes on Caleb. Shayner would be up next. Choke up just a little bit. Attack the plate. Heaton with not too much of a lead at first base. Pitcher comes set. Here's the pitch. Caleb grounds that to the shortstop. Gets between short and third for the single.
SPEAKER_06Again, beautiful piece of hitting by Lefaver to take that ball to left field. You know, that's what we were talking about, sitting back, Mike, and just and and and letting the pitch come to you and take it opposite field. And that's exactly what Coach was looking for.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, absolutely. Bring Shaner to the plate with two guys on, runners at first and second with one out. Shaner, of course, has Healen's lone home run this year. It was a grand slam last week. So an opportunity here for Healen at top of the first to put a run or two across and give Lefaver a lead.
SPEAKER_06I like this matchup. I really do. Shayner's the first first pitch hitter.
SPEAKER_09Infield was drawn in. Shaner squares to bunt. Fouls that pitch off. Strike one.
SPEAKER_06I don't mind that, Mike. I don't mind that. Get the guys over to second and third. You know, and see what uh see what we can create. Situation baseball. This is what we're talking about right here. Do you bunt? Do you double steal? Do you hit and run?
SPEAKER_09Tommy Carroll would be up next. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one.
SPEAKER_06One ball, one strike. Yeah, he's right around the zone. These guys. And they know it. And they're gonna get something to hit. And he was very patient on that one.
SPEAKER_09Infield slides back. Shayner didn't attempt to bunt that last pitch. Here's the pitch. Hit sharply down the left field line. Out of play. Got some people in the shade down there making some quick moves to get out of the way. I think it might have hit one of them. One ball, two strikes. Well, favorite first. Heating at second. One out. No score. Top of the first inning.
SPEAKER_06That was that slow curveball that I was talking about.
SPEAKER_09Schayner with the White with the pitch. That pitch is outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06His velocity on the curveball versus his fastball is like night and day. Boy, he really, he really slows that curveball down.
SPEAKER_09Looks in for the sign.
SPEAKER_06And the pitch. Got Shaner looking. Yeah, I think Shayner thought that was gonna be high and it dropped right across the plate. About bell time. Perfect, perfect pitch.
SPEAKER_09Out number two, that brings Tommy Carroll to the plate. Again, two runners on, two outs, top of the first inning, no score.
SPEAKER_06Tommy just needs to drive that thing to right field.
SPEAKER_09Pitch was in there for strike one, no balls one strike.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, catcher's working that outside corner on Tommy.
SPEAKER_09Base runners keep increasing their lead with each pitch. Here's the pitch by White. Bounces in there for a ball.
SPEAKER_06One ball, one strike. You know, you really have time to adjust to his curveball. That's that's how how different the velocity is, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Pitcher comes set. Checks back in second. There's a pitch. That pitch in there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06He needs to get off just a little more.
SPEAKER_10Pitcher checks back to second.
SPEAKER_06There's the pitch outside. Two balls, two strikes. Good eye on Tommy. That's a tough one to lay off of. I didn't miss by much on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_09White comes set on the mound. Here's the pitch. Runner from second goes. That hit Carroll. So Carroll gets on by hit by pitch. Heaton advances to third. Nathan, or Caleb Lefaver moves to second. Nathan Gaswin steps in with the bases loaded and two outs. Pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Nowhere to put him. Bases are loaded.
SPEAKER_06He's got a nice leadoff over there at third.
SPEAKER_09Here's the wind up and the pitch. Gas went, lines that out. Hit it hard to center field. That's the third out. After half inning, North Zero, Healing Zero, North coming to bat. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back, everyone, to Bud Spiroth Field here on the North High Campus. Leading off for North here in the bottom of the first will be White, Mogenson, and Henry. LaFaver comes into this game with a 0-0 record. He's pitched 3.2 innings. Teams are batting.067 against him. He's given up one hit, one earned run. He's walked two, struck out nine. His ERA is 1.91. And the crowd's a little larger than it normally would be with Caleb pitching.
SPEAKER_06I think they said there was going to be somewhere between 14 and 18 scouts here tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Well, if it's like last week, if they pull him, as soon as they pull him, the stands will clear and the parking lot will clear.
SPEAKER_06And ties to the Healing community and JJ Lally, a lot of JJ's cousins went to Healing. And I know him from some alumni events at Briar Cliff. So if you're listening, JJ.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, looking forward to uh Caleb being back out on the mound and starting tonight against the North Stars who come into this game. They've got uh some guys that have really got a good batting average. So it'll be interesting to see how uh they battle against Caleb and how he's able to neutralize their ability to hit the ball and get on base.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, one thing Coach said uh McLaughlin said is you know they've seen Caleb six times in the last three years. And so these upperclassmen and the and the guys that have been around the program have seen him. So that's unlike if you've never seen him and he's throwing in the 90s like he can, it can be a little intimidating.
SPEAKER_09Lafaver in the wind up. Here's the pitch. First pitch is inside for ball one. Showing young Mr. White that Caleb wants the inside of that plate. Pitch number two. Swing and a miss for strike one. One ball, one strike. Yeah, good inside, outside on that one, Mike. Caleb moving quickly tonight. Here's the pitch. That was in there for strike two.
SPEAKER_06One ball, two strikes. Beautiful curveball on the inside corner. Just he likes to throw that thing and it really freezes you.
SPEAKER_09A favor in the windup and the pitch. Just outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Don't mind that pitch. You know, see if you can get him leaning over and reaching.
SPEAKER_09A favor to the plate. Swing and a miss for strike three. White strikes out for the first out. That will bring Mogenson to the plate. We're in the bottom of the first. No score.
SPEAKER_06You know, that's an important batter for Caleb. You know, unlike the other night when he threw, you know, he he had a little trouble finding the plate the first couple batters, and boy, he was right around the plate on that guy. So that's that's a good sign for Caleb.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, much much better start than last week. First pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Boy. Anyone who's got a kid that's a catcher needs to come out here and watch uh Ericsson. Boy, the way he frames that ball is just beautiful.
SPEAKER_09That pitch just outside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Caleb doesn't give a whole lot of time between pitches for you and I to talk. So if it's quiet, folks, it's because he's already throwing the ball. That pitch over Erickson's head for ball two, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he reached down and threw that one. I think maybe that one was for the guns that are behind the fence there. Could have been.
SPEAKER_09Because it definitely had some heat on it. Here he is with the pitch. It hit him.
SPEAKER_06Back. That had a sting, but let me tell you, he just grinned and on first base.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he is gonna feel that uh later tonight and tomorrow.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, there might be a stitch mark.
SPEAKER_09Henry. Henry steps in. Runner at first. Moganson. One out. LaFavre will be pitching from the stretch here. LaFaver into the wind up in the pitch. Henry gets hit. So that's back to back hit by pitches.
SPEAKER_06So these guys are these guys are getting right up on the line, Mike, and he's trying to he's he's trying to take over that inside corner. And I just think he it's just getting away from him a little bit. And I don't blame him for coming in. You know, these guys are right up on the plate, and and you know, I as a pitcher, you want that. That's yours.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, shrunk steps in. We've got runners at first and second, one out. 22 for 22 on stolen bases. We'll see if North is going to be putting anything in motion here. Favor with the wind up, delivers to the plate. Fly ball out to nap in center field. Moves over way into right center. Boy.
SPEAKER_06Strong throw to third base. That was an absolute bullet from knap over to third. And I was saying from the other night, Mike, he almost caught a couple guys over at Healing the other night. When they tried doing that.
SPEAKER_09Yep, yeah. If the runner at second would have tried to take third, I believe he would have been thrown out on that because that was on the money.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Nillis steps in. We'll say all kinds of good things about him because his dad is over here to our left. Lefaver turns and throws to second. Nobody's there, goes out into center field, but Knapp's right there to scoop it up and get it back in without anybody advancing.
SPEAKER_06You know, Mike, that's the second time we've seen that in two games that nobody's covered the base. And so there's got to be something that that a signal that's getting crossed.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there's something being missed because that it wasn't even close. Nobody made a move to go to second base either time. Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike one.
SPEAKER_06No balls, one strike. Now it's an opportunity just like Keelan had in the first inning for North to put something, some, you know, something on the scoreboard.
SPEAKER_09No score, bottom of the first. A favor deals to the plate. Swing and a miss for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Strong cut by Nillis. Um got that up in the zone just a little bit, right about at his elbows.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that was that was power against power with that swing. Yep.
SPEAKER_06Yep. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_09Favor shakes off the first sign. Likes the next one, checks back in second. Delivers to the plate. High in there for ball one, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06You know, maybe come back on that outside corner. Throw that sink around him here a little bit.
SPEAKER_09Caleb with the pitch. Runners are going. And he caught him looking for strike three. That's it. So, North puts two on, not able to score any runs. Zero to zero after one. We will be back in 30 seconds.
SPEAKER_20What makes your home home? Is it a favorite reading corner? A growth chart on the door frame. A bunk bed that doubles as a fort? Home is that feeling of warmth and safety. SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back to Bud Speed Roth Field. We head to the top of the first. Helan will send Aiden LaFaver, Chase Beck, and Dylan Knapp to the plate to get things started.
SPEAKER_06My first shout out of the night to my uh my 101-year-old mother-in-law who's listening to us tonight. So she loves sports. She didn't drive to the game, John? She did not drive. She gave up that about a year ago.
SPEAKER_09Oh well, okay. Yeah. I was uh I think I was talking to your wife several months ago and she was talking about her mom.
SPEAKER_06I was like, wow. Yeah. And she doesn't look it. No, Irene Piles. If you're listening tonight, there's your shout out.
SPEAKER_09Well, at least you can go to the next famous reunion I can tell you.
SPEAKER_06I can. I'm motor yard today, and now I've called her out on the radio.
SPEAKER_09So you are all kinds of point scoring here, John. Oh stepping in to lead the inning off for the Healing Crusaders is Aiden LaFaver.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we've talked about Aiden and uh young eighth grader. He uh he has a nice swing. He's just just has not been able to you know string a hit out here and quite a few walks. Swing and a miss there on that second pitch. It's no balls, two strikes. Well, that's that pitch I'm talking about, Mike. They just got to sit back. You have time to adjust for that curveball. Just sit back and take a breath.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he was way out in front of that. He has five strikeouts on the season. That pitch outside for ball one, one ball, two strikes. Give a shout out to Andrew over in Lincoln. Bridget Moore and her family down in Omaha. That pitch outside for ball two, two balls, two strikes. White with the wind up and the delivery. We got a nice big window, John. We might get a foul ball if we're lucky, so you better be paying attention.
SPEAKER_06Well, you know what? It's been a while. I don't know if I can react that quick, Mike. I'm more worried about my truck down left field.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you're parked in a precarious spot, but that seems to be your MO. That pitch outside for ball three. Brings the count full on Lefaver. Beck would be next, followed by Knapp. Aiden looks good in there. Let's see.
SPEAKER_06Oh. Well, he caught him looking for strike three. He thought that was outside, and uh it was close. I mean, that's one of those ones. Uh boy, you gotta when it's that close, you probably gotta be swinging.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. And for us from up here, it's really hard to tell how close it was or how outside it was. But it is. You're absolutely right. Beck steps in. Nice single sharply to shortstop, throws over to first for the out.
SPEAKER_06Nice contact. Nice contact by Beck. That's a good sign. Really, really good sign.
SPEAKER_09Nathan put it put a charge into the ball at the end of that last inning, and uh Beck put the bat on the ball. So uh Knapp will step in. If he's able to get on and extend the inning, that would bring up hope.
SPEAKER_06Hey, this we're talking about two out baseball, Mike. All 11 runs the other night by MLC with two outs.
SPEAKER_09White delivers a pitch. Knapp tries to bunt it, it goes foul for strike one. No balls, one strike. Oh, I don't mind that at all. Third baseman was playing way back. Yeah, and he's got the speed to beat something like that out. And yeah. They must figure he's not gonna try again because they've all dropped way back.
SPEAKER_06Here's the pitch. You know, I don't mind this standing up and calling Mike. This is kind of different.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I like it.
SPEAKER_09One ball, one strike. Two outs, no score, top of the second. White with the delivery.
SPEAKER_06Oh, just missed it.
SPEAKER_09Dylan out in front on that pitch. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Come on, Dylan. Just keep that head down and and and just take it to wherever it goes here. Nice.
SPEAKER_09Ball bounces in there to Dillon for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. White shakes first sign off. Likes the second one. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball three. Brings the count full on Dylan. If he's able to get on, JJ Hope would be next. And Dillon's got wheels. If we can get him on, there's no telling what they put into motion here. Yep. Here's the pitch by White. Outside corner for strike three. Caught him looking. End of one and a half. Score is zero to zero. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_21You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Ponka Sioux City, and KOIA, Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Rio.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, let's talk about some of our underwriters, Mike. Uh some of these uh businesses that are sponsoring Bishop Heel and Baseball on Catholic Radio 88.1, the Bargain Center, Barclay Asphalt, BCU's Catholic Connection Scholarship, Bob Rose Point After, and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, shout out to the Nigglings, and Catholic charities, and the last one Central Bank, Sioux City, and Storm Lake.
SPEAKER_09We appreciate uh all the support that you guys will uh give to Catholic Radio to keep Healing on. Healing baseball, Healing Sports actually, uh being able to broadcast that. It's a really neat thing that we're able to do. Whitney steps in.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, Caleb's ready to go.
SPEAKER_09Deals, here's the pitch. Another hit by pitch. Whitney gets on.
SPEAKER_06The thing about it, Mike, is he's going after that inside corner, and and they're on the plate. I mean, yeah, I know the umpire's coming out and talking to him about it, but what he's trying to do is he's trying to establish that inside corner and and basically telling them, you know what, this is mine. And he's getting and basically, you know, and he throws so hard, you know, that uh sometimes that gets away from him a little bit.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it does. Uh North has had three base runners and all have been put on base by hit by pitch. That brings Wareheim to the plate. Whitney on first, no outs.
SPEAKER_06Well, let's see if you know he said he was gonna run tonight, so let's see if they challenge him.
SPEAKER_09LaFavor from the stretch and the pitch. Pitches outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_06He's getting a nice leadoff over there.
SPEAKER_09Pitch by Caleb. Outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he's gotta come back. I'm I'm guessing he comes back with that curveball, Mike, but I know he's a little nervous with this guy over here first.
SPEAKER_09Pitch is high for ball three, three balls, no strikes. Well, you know, last week, whenever he got behind, two balls, three balls, no strikes, he wasn't afraid to come back with that curve.
SPEAKER_06That was his that was his pitch that he threw for a strike the other night.
SPEAKER_09Wind up in the pitch. Pitch is high for ball four.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Ethan needs to go out and just have a just a quick conversation with him. He, you know, get him to follow through, and there he goes. That's exactly what I thought he would do. And Ethan's going out. Basically, what he's gonna tell him here, Mike, is you know, follow through. His release point right now has been up there by the shoulders. And uh now you got situation baseball that we talked about before the game. You got a guy here on first and second, do you uh do you double steal? Do you bunt? Yeah, you know, you got all kinds of options they can do here to try to manufacture a run.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Healing's gonna have to be ready for just about anything with uh Kling at the plate. Got Whitney at second, Wareheim on first, no outs. Scores 0-0 here in the bottom of the second inning at Buds Bero Field. Lafaver taking his time, looking in, comes set. First pitch. In there for a strike. Kling had squared around a bunt, pulled back, but the ball was in the zone, so strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06That's a good job by Ethan going out and calming the young man down.
SPEAKER_09Well, favor comes set. Here's the pitch. Shrunk squares around again, doesn't offer. Just missed. Just a little high. Pitch was high for ball one, one ball, one strike. A little bit of a tight spot here for healing the bottom of the second.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he wants to get those guys down in second and third in a bad way. So I'm I'm not he'll probably square up again.
SPEAKER_09He squares around again, bunts it to Aiden there. Uh Aiden Lefaver.
SPEAKER_06Throws to Beck at first for the out. It's a beautiful bunt. Beautiful bunt down the first baseline. Did exactly what the coach wanted him to do, and that's to move those runners to second and third.
SPEAKER_09One out, runners at second and third. McCormick steps in. Still no score, bottom of the second inning. McCormick in on the left side.
SPEAKER_06Now, this is one of the question marks that Coach had for North was their bottom lineup, so let's see.
SPEAKER_09Line line to Aiden at first. He makes a great play, looks over at second, holds on to the ball wisely. Beautiful play by Aiden.
SPEAKER_15That brings up your leadoff batter. Number five, Nolan White.
SPEAKER_09Looked like a well experienced young man on that play.
SPEAKER_06Looked like a freshman and not an eighth grader, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that was uh that was good. Yeah. White steps in. Struck out his first time up. Caleb comes set. The North dugout is letting Caleb know how they feel about him. That's an absolute hit a positive way, but they're making some noise down there. That pitch was swung at and missed for strike one.
SPEAKER_06Great scoop by Erickson to avoid a run there. That ball easily could have got by him.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah. Well, favor comes set. Here's the pitch. That in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Be huge to get out of this with two guys on and no outs.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. You know what? Um I know the rule of thumb is you waste a pitch here, but I'd come right back at him. This is the bottom of the order. There he did it. Yep. Got him.
SPEAKER_09For strike three. So North will get two guys on, get them in scoring position, but they're not able to push them across. After two, Bishop Healin' zero, North zero. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Scorp on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09We are back at Bud Speed.
SPEAKER_06Got some underwriters here. First of all, Christy Smith Funeral Homes, Sinos, Dr. Evan or Ryan Meese, Council Oak Company, LLC, based Culligan of Sioux City, and Drilling Morningside Pharmacy.
SPEAKER_09Thanks again to all the underwriters. And again, if you folks, anyone out there, business or individual, is interested in being an underwriter for Catholic Radio, you could give the station a call and speak with Ann or Tim. Jonathan. Hope steps in to lead off the second the third inning. White with the delivery. Bounces that one in there for ball one.
SPEAKER_06One ball, no strikes. Well, obviously they've done a little scouting on JJ because the third baseman's up there at the grass.
SPEAKER_09First baseman's not, so let's push it down the first baseman.
SPEAKER_06Well, he would beat it out, definitely, if he did that.
SPEAKER_09That pitch bounces in there for ball two. Yeah, folks, if you weren't listening the other night, uh JJ stole home and he virtually beat the ball to home plate.
SPEAKER_06He was sliding into home as the ball come across. Here's the pitch. Beautiful. Beautiful.
SPEAKER_09Out to center field. JJ Hope with the single. Leads the inning off for Healing. That'll bring Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_06That's what we were talking about, Mike. Sitting back, taking that ball to right field, taking the ball to left field if you're a left-handed batter. Just beautiful piece of hitting by JJ.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it was. And now we've got uh we've got a guy on the bases that likes to make things happen. So be interesting to see what the the plan is here. Yeah, he wanted me to do the uh small lead to start out. Then the starter announcements White looks in, ball bounces into Erickson for ball one.
SPEAKER_06Shout out to Grace back at the studio. Thank you for all you're doing. Grace and Liz, our marketing uh getting out there and getting us the sponsors and and everything else that you do, Liz.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, John, we're lucky to have uh Jack and Grace to keep these games on the radio when you and I are doing them. That pitch in there for a strike, one ball, one strike. Grace came in on her on a holiday, so we could do that game on Monday night. Yep. Did a wonderful job.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think I think we're hitting and running here, Mike. No, he he does not like that.
SPEAKER_09Throw over to first. JJ dives back in safely.
SPEAKER_06He's got him, he's got him a little nervous here. Ethan makes such good contact. It's a perfect pitch to maybe try it.
SPEAKER_09Wind up in the pitch. Floats that in there for strike two.
SPEAKER_06One ball, two strikes. Well, he really does. He he really bends that thing.
SPEAKER_09JJ gets a little bit a little bit bigger lead this time. White looks over. Delivers to the plate. Ball hit out to center field by Erickson. Center fielder settles under it, makes the catch. JJ retreats back to second base.
SPEAKER_06Good contact by Erickson.
SPEAKER_09Erickson flies out center field for the first out. That will bring Caleb Lefavre to the plate. He'll be followed by Schaehner.
SPEAKER_06One thing about this field at North, man, you can run forever in center field. It's one of the bigger ball fields in town.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there's a lot of room to run out there. Interestingly enough, when we were at MLC the other night, they didn't have the the markings out on the fence. JJ Hope takes off to second base.
SPEAKER_06And he's in there. Yeah, he got that right hand underneath. The tag was good, the throw was good, everything was good. JJ, he just beat it, got his right hand under on the back side of the base.
SPEAKER_09First pitch was a ball. One ball, no strikes, little favor. JJ Hope on second.
SPEAKER_06Oh, they're in they are going to intentionally walk Caleb to bring up Shaner, which not sure that's a good idea, but I don't think this is gonna be the last time we see that, Mike, the way he's been hitting the ball.
SPEAKER_09Yep. Yeah, definitely with JJ's speed, a hit to the outfield that isn't an out. JJ probably would have scored from second base. So Shaner steps in, he'll be followed by Carroll.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I like it. Shayner stepping up in the plate, and I like that.
SPEAKER_09Pitch drops in there for strike one. No balls one strike. He doesn't look as big when we're way down the first baseline. When you're next to him or you're behind home plate, he's a big kid, but yeah, uh doesn't quite look that way from here, but we know he is, and he's definitely got power. He doesn't get cheated when he swings that bat. Here's the pitch. Swings that fouls it off back to the back stop. No balls, two strikes. LaFaver on first, hope on second. One out, no score, top of the third.
SPEAKER_06You know, this here we go. Situation, you know, does does JJ take off for third? I mean, we've seen it numerous times already this year, Mike.
SPEAKER_09I wouldn't be surprised if he took off here. He does not. Shader lines that sharply between short and third. JJ trying to score from second. They got him at the plate. Good throw by the left fielder to get JJ at home plate.
SPEAKER_06An even better scoop by the catcher, actually. That was a dart by the left fielder home, and just a great scoop by the catcher to make the play.
SPEAKER_09So Healing has runners at second third. Shayner at second, Lefaver at third. Carroll steps in, who's been swinging a hot bat. So still an opportunity to score score a run or two here in this inning. Pitch by White. Carroll lays off that first pitch in the dirt for a ball.
SPEAKER_06Ball one. One ball, no strikes. I don't mind. I don't mind us being that aggressive to home, Mike. They said at the beginning of the season we're going to be aggressive this year. I don't mind that call at all.
SPEAKER_09Probably wishing that they had had him moving on the pitch. Yeah. White delivers to the plate. Carroll lines that right back up the middle. That'll score a favor from third. Shahner was being was being held up and said, I'm gonna score anyway, coach. So Shaner uses that speed, scores from second. Healing now leads two to nothing. Carroll with the two RBI single.
SPEAKER_06Great piece of hitting by the freshman.
SPEAKER_09And that'll bring up Nathan Gaswin.
SPEAKER_06Just a beautiful hit that right in between left and center, and you know the left fielder couldn't come up throwing like he did against JJ.
SPEAKER_09That's true. Gas went. Really hit the ball hard the first time up out to center field. No balls one strike. Healing leads two to nothing, top of the third. Here's the pitch by White. Nathan fouls that back for strike two.
SPEAKER_06No balls, two strikes. He threw a third time, Mike. That's two in a row on Gaswin. Does he throw it a third time?
SPEAKER_09I would. As much as he's he's struggled at the plate so far. Yep. But like we've talked about, the bottom of our batting order is due. They can get rolling. Well, Carroll got it started. We're gonna be uh very dangerous. Carroll dives back in on the throw over to first.
SPEAKER_06Well, you know I'm old enough, and so and so are you, but I remember his dad playing and and Tommy. Tommy is a spit image of him.
SPEAKER_09White comes set. Delivers. Pitch was high for ball one, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Well, this ump's really calling, he's actually really calling a good game. He's you know, that ball's that borderline pitch, and and he you know he's in his zone. He's in his zone back there.
SPEAKER_09This umpire has a lot of confidence in himself. Yeah. Here's the pitch. It swing. Swing and a miss by Gaswent for strike three. So Healing's able to string together two runs in that inning. Heading to the bottom of the third, it is Healing two, North Zero. We will be back after a 30-second break.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_09We're back to Butts B Roth Field. The Healing Crusaders lead North 2-0, heading to the bottom of the third. North will send Jay Mogenson, Henry, and Shrunk to the plate.
SPEAKER_06A few more of our underwriters, Mike. Uh Cybercloak Tech LLC, Dave Pepin Real Estate LLC, Dunes Dental for Kids, Empirical, FM Wealth Management, Matt Lawler, Folk Brothers, and Greenville Pharmacy. Thank you for all your support of Bishop Hewland Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_09So now Caleb comes out, he's got a 2-0 lead. See if it changes his strategy as far as pitching goes, and we hope part of that strategy is not hitting anybody.
SPEAKER_06Let's go back to that last inning and Tommy Carroll are just a wonderful piece of hitting. Uh in we talked about those guys getting those hits so that their confidence builds. Yeah, that's perfect right there. Perfect example.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, the the bats are are making contact tonight that we just needed to start falling for the bottom half of the lineup. As we talked about it, the first batter is hit by a pitch. That's the second time for Moganson. He'll head down to first base.
SPEAKER_13Moganson's gonna bring up this center fielder number two, Trey Henry.
SPEAKER_06That'll bring Trey Henry to the plate. So here on the flip side of this, Mike, what what's happening? When those batters are coming up there, they're erasing that inside line. I don't know if you can see the line by the plate, but they're erasing it with their feet, so there's no line there. And the reason they're doing that is so they can get right up on top of the plate.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And you know, the ump, and he needs to back them off a little bit too.
SPEAKER_09First pitch in there for a strike. Beautiful pitch. Beautiful pitch. No balls one strike to Henry. Shrunk would be up next. He's going. Ball gets away from Erickson.
SPEAKER_06Mogenson heads down to second base. Boy, Ethan didn't think he was going, and he took his time picking that ball up. One ball, one strike. Well, you got a bear down here.
SPEAKER_09Nobody out. Moganson at second base, Henry at the plate. Shrunk would be next, followed by Nellis. Pitch by LaFavre. Foul back. Strike two, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think Ethy. You know, this new style with these catchers going down on one leg. I think Ethan's staying up on this one.
SPEAKER_09Up, up. Pitch has popped up. Hits top of the heel and dugout. Count remains one ball, two strikes. Again, it's Moganson at second with no outs. He let off the inning hit by pitch. Healing leads two to nothing here in the bottom of the third.
SPEAKER_06Great job by Schaehner and uh Ethan both getting over to the fence and finding the ball. You know, it's that's uh exactly how you're supposed to do it.
SPEAKER_09Shakes another one off.
SPEAKER_10Come set.
SPEAKER_09Runner at second. LaFavor steps off. We'll reset everything. Runner at second not taking much of a lead. Third pitch strike. It was dropped by Peyton. Runner was able to advance to third. Moganson at third, one out. Shrunk steps in.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that ball just popped out of his glove and created a situation where, you know, I mean, he probably could have faked it and uh took his chance on getting Moganson.
SPEAKER_09Shrunk flew out the center field his first time up. Here's the pitch. Pitch is high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. That curveball he likes, Mike. Favor looks in, deals to the plate. Pitches inside. Shrunk danced out of the way there. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_06Boy, uh Mogenson's got a absolute deep leadoff at third. Wouldn't uh I wouldn't be surprised to see us come back on him. Try to get him at third.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's three balls, no strikes for Shrunk. Fouled off. Had the green light there on three balls, no strikes. Brings the count to three balls, one strike. Moganson on third. One out. Healing leads two to nothing here in the bottom of the third. Pitch. Inside for ball four. Shrunk draws the walk. North has runners at first and third with one out.
SPEAKER_15Joe Millis.
SPEAKER_09That'll bring Joe Nillis to the plate.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, Nillis has got a the opportunity to do some damage here, and and uh I don't mind that uh walking uh walking him, Mike, because it gives us that that uh force out at second and the opportunity for a double play here.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Shayner steps in a few steps at third base. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I mean you got some you got some pretty good speed at third base, so I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised to see him lay it down.
SPEAKER_09Deals to the plate. First pitch in there for a strike, strike one. No balls, one strike, on one strike on Nillis. He struck out looking his first time up.
SPEAKER_06Well he's a he's a he's a big presence up there at the plate, isn't he, Mike? Yes, he is. I don't think he's gonna, I don't think he's gonna.
SPEAKER_09Squares, offers it the bunt, misses for strike two, no balls, two strikes. Shrunk took off down to second base, so now North has runners at second and third. Chance to tie this game up with a base hit. Comes set. Pitch.
SPEAKER_06That pitch just high for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Well, he framed that perfect right at the waist, but just came across just a little bit high. It was a strike where he caught it as far as the glove, but that's just the excellent framing job that Erickson had. Yep.
SPEAKER_09Well favorite deals to the plate.
SPEAKER_06Caught looking again for strike three. Yeah, I think Nillis was looking for a fastball there, Mike.
SPEAKER_09That'll bring up Whitney. North has runners at second and third with two outs. Whitney. Whitney steps in, still with the chance to cut into this healing lead or tie the game with a good hit.
SPEAKER_06I think Ericsson's just itching to go back down to third base here. I'm wondering if they've got something going on here.
SPEAKER_09LaFavre comes set, delivers, swing and a miss for strike one. Good cut by Whitney.
SPEAKER_06Better pitch by Lefavre. He's had himself in a tight spot a couple times. You know, I tell you what, uh, so far so good.
SPEAKER_09LaFaver deals to the plate. Swing and a miss for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Runners at second and third, two outs, bottom of the third. Healing leads two to nothing.
SPEAKER_06Just a beautiful pitch. Outside corner, low curveball. I mean, he really would have had to reach out to get that.
SPEAKER_09LaFaver shakes that first sign off. Says I'll take this one. Deals to the plate. Caught him looking for strike three. Three straight curve balls, Mike. Three strikeouts, net inning for Caleb LeFaver. After three, it is healing two, North Zero. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Mike and John are back here at Bud Spear off Field. Halan will send Aiden Lefaver, Chase Beck, and Dylan Knapp to the plate here in the top of the fourth inning. Halan leads two to nothing. Bottom of the batting order, they they made some good contact with the ball, doing exactly what we talked about. Now we just got to put it put it where they're not and and get them on base and bring those batting averages up.
SPEAKER_06Just good maturity on uh Caleb Lefaver in the last, well, actually in the last couple innings, Mike, getting into situations and being able to get himself out of it. You know, maybe two years ago that doesn't necessarily happen.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he he's done a really good job of uh pitching himself into situations that make it tough, and he's been able to get out of it and uh hold on to this two zero lead, and now his little brother gets to step in, and he was caught looking the first time up for an out. We'll see if he can finally get. Get that monkey off his back and get that first hit of the season. Here's the pitch by White. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Here's the bottom of the order, and we've been talking about this, Mike. I mean, it's an opportunity to do some damage, and let's see what these guys can do.
SPEAKER_09White with the pitch. Bounces in there for ball one. One ball, one strike. And you know these kids, they they want to get the hit. They want to get on base.
SPEAKER_06Absolutely. I mean, just put it in play. Make something happen.
SPEAKER_09White steps off. Now he toes the rubber again, goes into his windup. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss by Aiden for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, just uh he's just missing it. Yeah, he's just uh just sit back, take a deep breath. Probably gonna throw him that thing again.
SPEAKER_09White delivers. Pitch way outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. That pitch bounces in there for ball three, three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I had feet feeling he'd come back with that. That's that slow curve, and he's gotten him twice. There we go. Pitch outside for ball four. Yep. Good eye.
SPEAKER_09Well, favor trots down to first base with the walk. That'll bring Chase Beck up. Quite a crowd up on the hill behind the stadium, behind the fence. Not so much out on outer belt like there normally is, but it's still early. White delivers first pitch. Drops that in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06You gotta be looking for that pitch. We gotta, he's throwing that thing for a strike. Uh just sit back, take it.
SPEAKER_09Seems to be his favorite pitch. He's throwing it a lot. White checks will favor it first, delivers to the plate. That pitch in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. He made good time contact as last at bat. Nice hole between first and second base here if he's able to pull something that way. White checks will favor it first, comes set, and the pitch. Beck lays off that for a ball. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, good job by Beck holding up. A smooth second baseman. For those of you who haven't gotten a chance to watch him play, just smooth over there. White delivers to Beck. Beautiful.
SPEAKER_09Beck lines that back up out to center field. Center fielder bobbles it a little bit. He was gonna try to make a play on second on LeFavor.
SPEAKER_06That's what I'm talking about right there, Mike. Sit back and wait for that thing.
SPEAKER_14Drive it up the middle, take it to right field.
SPEAKER_09That'll bring Knapp to the plate. He struck out looking his first time up. Got Aiden LeFaver at second, Chase Beck at first. No outs here in the top of the fourth. Healand leads north, two to nothing. First baseman's gonna go over and have a conversation with the pitcher.
SPEAKER_06I mean, we gotta be moving. We gotta advance these guys, Mike, so anyway you can. See if Coach's got the butt on.
SPEAKER_09Yep. JJ Hope will be next.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_09Knapp squared around a bunt. And then kind of punched at it. Fouled it off. Yeah, as the pitcher went into his windup, the third basem charged and the shortstop took off for third.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they had something on.
SPEAKER_09No balls one strike to Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_06Don't be afraid to do it again here. You know, your job is to get that thing on the ground, put it in play.
SPEAKER_09First baseman drawn in as well. White looks back at second.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_09They're doing the wheel of fortune out there. Shortstop runs around Aiden and back to his spot, then the second baseman runs over to second base to cover it.
SPEAKER_06And the catcher and the pitcher's going directly off the catcher signal. So, yeah, that's that's one of the oldest ones in the book. Everybody runs it.
SPEAKER_10White looks back.
SPEAKER_09Shortstop heading down to third base. Pitches outside. Aiden got too far off second base out there and was picked off for the first out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, good job by the catcher coming back on that. Nice throw down to second base and and uh just just got us sleeping a little bit.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think uh Aiden thought he was gonna make contact on it because he was halfway to third.
SPEAKER_06Well, now you gotta get you got to get back down to second base.
SPEAKER_09Here's the wind up by White, the delivery. Outside, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, the catcher doesn't have what necessarily you call a cannon, but he just he's just got an accurate throw, gets it right there. Nice nap hits that off the shortstop's glove, bounces out into center field. Mike, we were just talking about that before the game. This is our first game on natural grass and playing the bounces, and and we just saw one. This is exactly what Coach Wesseman was talking about in the first, you know, before the game.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah, it was uh it was a hard hit ball. I mean, it was gonna be a tough play for the shortstop. It just bounced off his glove. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate. Healing has Beck at second, Knapp at first, one out. They lead North two to nothing. Infield drawing in just a little bit. Pitch in there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you you get on this natural or on just natural grass, and and you don't sometimes just don't know where that thing's gonna bounce versus being on field turf where you where everything's you know everything's clean.
SPEAKER_09White looks back at second, delivers to the plate. Pitch low and outside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Good eye by JJ. Peyton Erickson on deck. Two on one out for Healing. They lead Nord two to nothing, looking to score some more runs here. That ball bounces off the third baseman.
SPEAKER_06Almost exact same, excuse me, almost exact same thing. He he tried to make the play, had a little bobble then he then he thought he had it, and tried to make the play before he had it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think he was he was thinking about catching it, stepping on the bag and throwing the first for a double play. And uh you got to focus on the first before you can get the second. And so that'll load the basis for Peyton Erickson. No outs for Healan here in the top of the fourth inning.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he's got a chance to really open things up here.
SPEAKER_09Have some action down in the bullpen for Healan. Looks like Mason Moravic is down there warming up. Ball bounces in, gets away from the catcher a little bit, not far enough for anyone to advance. So it's one ball, no strikes to Erickson. He thought about it.
SPEAKER_06He was about halfway down the line and decided to go back.
SPEAKER_09And Erickson looked at him and said, I'm a catcher, I know you it's not far enough away. You need to you need to get back.
SPEAKER_06Stay back there. Give me an opportunity for you for some RBIs here.
SPEAKER_09Big chance to really blow this game open here for Healing in the fourth inning. Caleb Lefaver would be up next. That pitch was in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. Base is full of Crusaders. Looking to add to this two to nothing lead. Here's the pitch by White. Erickson, good cut. Nice cut. Just fouls that off. Just missed it. Yep. One ball, two strikes. He makes solid contact. That ball's going back up somewhere. Boy, he hit the ball in the gap here. There's a long way to run. Yeah, and with even though Dylan's fast at second with hope at first, Dillon better be running because JJ might catch him. Comes Ethan. White pitching from the full wind up. Here's the pitch. That pitch was high. Good job, Freeman, by the catcher. Two balls, two strikes. One out. Base is full of Crusaders. Need a base here by Peyton to drive some runs in. Boom. Ball hit sharply out to center field. That's gonna get one in. That'll score one. Center fielder had to go way back to get it. Nap tags up and heads to third. So Beck scores to make the score three to nothing.
SPEAKER_06Good piece of hitting by Erickson. Did exactly what he was supposed to do. You put the ball in play and get a run in. Good job by Ethan. Great job there. And this is not the guy you want to see up at the plate. No.
SPEAKER_09Dillon advances to third. JJ stayed at first, which I'm guessing is going to be short-lived.
SPEAKER_06I would not be surprised to see a hit and run on the first pitch, Mike. Yep. Yep. I mean he's gonna get him down there one way or the other.
SPEAKER_09Caleb Lefaver steps in. White looks in. Delivers. That ball is hit down the right field line. Just foul. Just foul. JJ was not off on that first pitch. No.
SPEAKER_06And that's just the respect with the catcher here. I mean, normally JJ'd be gone on that first pitch, Mike. But uh, you know, I think they, you know, these guys earn their respect, just about got them the first time and and uh, you know, got Aiden on that backup uh plate a second.
SPEAKER_09White delivers to the plate. One ball, one strike, the count to Caleb Lefaver. Knapp at third. JJ Hope at first. Two outs. Healing leads, three to nothing. JJ breaks. That's all right, go ball's thrown to second base, gets away from him. That will allow Knapp to score from third base. Situation running, Mike, right there. Make something happen. That brings a score of four to nothing. JJ again advances down to second on the error by the pitcher.
SPEAKER_06That's exactly how you run that delays, that delayed double still. That's exactly how you run it.
SPEAKER_09Yep, JJ was gonna use the thing rundown as long as he could and try to give Dylan a chance to score there. So one ball, one strike to Lefaver. He's got a chance to add to this healing lead. They lead four to nothing here in the top of the fourth. And the pitch. Late call there, but that was in there for a strike. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06What a chance, uh chance here. I think he's got a huge leadoff.
SPEAKER_09Shortstop trying to keep JJ close. Pitch outside. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06You know, that's that pitch. They called called him on one other time up there at MOC because he's six foot six.
SPEAKER_09So yeah, you're not gonna fool him too many times with pitches. No. White delivers to Lefaver. Bounces into the catcher, gets away from him. JJ Hope advances down to third on the wild pitch. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06I'm sure the Hope family's all up there on the hill in their normal spot, and I've seen them up here before at the North Games. If not, shout out to Grandma Hope, Joanne.
SPEAKER_09Shanner do up next. If LaFavre can extend this inning. Here's the pitch, LeFavor. Good piece of hit. Fouls that off into the pine tree up there at the top of the hill. Count remains three balls, two strikes. That almost looks like your car. That's not your car up there. No, mine is way down the right field line, tucked under a tree behind the batting cage. I'm not as brave as you, John. You like to park yours out there and in dangerous territory. Here's a pitch by White. Fouled off by Lefaver. There we go. Able to fight that one off. Keep the count of three balls, two strikes. JJ Hope at third. Two outs. Healing leads this one five to nothing.
SPEAKER_06With a right fielder just playing him right on the line. Four to nothing, I'm sorry. Boy, that's trouble. That's trouble.
SPEAKER_09It's five to nothing. Oh, that left fielder. He twisted and turned and did everything he could and was able to bring that ball in. That was sharply hit.
SPEAKER_06Beautiful play by the left fielder. That easily could have been over his head, made a nice over-the-shoulder catch.
SPEAKER_09So LaFaver, a long fly ball for the third out. We'll head to the bottom of the fourth. Healing leads four to nothing. We'll be back in 30 seconds.
SPEAKER_23The Sioux Lane community has been incredibly blessed to have the Trinity Heights Quin a piece in its presence for over 30 years. SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09We are back at Butt Spear Field. The Healing Crusaders lead the North Stars 4-0 as we head to the bottom of the fourth. North will send up Werheim, Kling, and McCormick.
SPEAKER_06I know she loves when we do this, but you know, we can't forget to give Ann a shout out. No, we can't. She likes it when we give uh positive comments about her.
SPEAKER_09We don't need to see any any text coming out after that one. No, we'll we'll keep Ann happy. Ann does a great job. She always lets us know who's going to be running the board and uh what time we're going on and what time we'll be ready to test and see if we can get everything connected right. So uh we appreciate her and again Grace and Jack back at the studio whenever they're in taking care of everything for us.
SPEAKER_06Let me get a couple more of these sponsors in before that first pitch. Greg and Krista Yokum, Gretkin Family ICare, Heideman Law Firm, Heinmann Family, Dentistry, and JJ Coins and Collectibles. Thank you so much for supporting Catholic Radio and Bishop Healham Baseball.
SPEAKER_09LaFaver back out there for the bottom of the fourth inning. Delivers first pitch. Wareheim squares to Bunt, pulls back, pitch in there for a ball. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_06Well, we saw somebody down in the bullpen, but ball hit out to JJ at short.
SPEAKER_09Throws over to Aiden LeFaver at first. Easy put out.
SPEAKER_06Six to three. He's just getting more and more comfortable over there, isn't he, Mike? Yep, he is. Every game he just looks just a little more comfortable.
SPEAKER_09That brings a shortstop. Andrew Kling up with one out. North trails this from four to nothing. We're here in the bottom of the fourth.
SPEAKER_06Hey, and being a catcher, you know, I got to give a shout-out. That catcher, he did exactly what he's supposed to do backing up first base there.
SPEAKER_09Here's a pitch by Caleb. Boy, that had some heating. Just high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Yeah, Peyton definitely knows when contact is made, he takes off to back up first base. Exactly how you're supposed to do it. Pitch by Caleb. Appeal down to first base. He did not go, so it's two balls, no strikes. That pitch in there for a strike. Healing wearing the blue tops with the blue caps, with the gold HC, white letters, gray pants with the blue stripe down the side.
SPEAKER_14Number three, Howie McCormick.
SPEAKER_09Cling five flies out to right field. That'll bring up McCormick. He lined out to Aiden Lefavre's first time up.
SPEAKER_06That was kind of a key out, too. I think they had runners in scoring position. Two guys on, no outs.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it definitely uh got us out of the inning.
SPEAKER_06Coach over there talking to the young man, and you know, I think he's saying, be patient up there. You're probably gonna get that same pitch that you had the first at bat.
SPEAKER_09McCormick steps in from the left side. Lefty on lefty matchup. Here's the pitch by Lefavre.
SPEAKER_06Low for ball one, one ball, no strikes. You know, I love the way these these catchers do this nowadays. They get down on that one knee like that, Mike. I tell you what, it might have saved a few years off me if we had that.
SPEAKER_09Swing and a miss for strike one, one ball, one strike. So you're saying you'd still be playing some fast pitch softball if you'd have had this stance?
SPEAKER_06Well, let's not get carried away. Might have been one less hip.
SPEAKER_09Briarcliffe Hall of Famer John Tritz there with words of wisdom for up-and-coming catchers. Yeah. That ball fouled out of play for strike two, one ball, two strikes. Yeah, know your know your orthopedic surgeons. John, good friends with the the University of Texas women's softball coach Mike White, who has led Texas back to the College World Series. That ball fouled off. And for those of you who know me, you knew I was going to get a Texas comment in there at some point. Wouldn't expect any anything else, Mike. Yeah. One ball, two strikes to McCorbick. And the pitch. Good pitch. I like that pitch.
SPEAKER_06Bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Not a bad pitch, kind of a waist pitch, and he chased it the last time, so not a bad pitch to throw.
SPEAKER_09LaFavor delivers. That ball hit the back at second base. Fields it, throws it over to Aiden LeFavor for the third out. Three up, three down for the North Stars in the bottom of the fourth. We'll head to the fifth. Crusaders lead four to nothing. We'll be back in 30 seconds.
SPEAKER_02People's Bank knows that game day is always exciting. One thing that all of our Crusader teams have learned is the importance of teamwork. That's a key success in banking too. SPEAKER_04Member FBI team. And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_06Hey, welcome back here to North High School Pitch Appeal and Baseball. Talking a little bit before this goes Michael White down there at Texas. Great to see him win his national championship, had a chance to play with Michael and play against him back when he was in Sioux City.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so he won probably several world championships. Oh yeah. Fast pitch softball, and now he's won a national championship. Oh yeah. He's back in Oklahoma City to go for a back-to-back.
SPEAKER_06And and several for his homeland uh of New Zealand. And then he became a U.S. citizen, I believe, and then he I think he pitched for the United States uh down the road, so he actually has world championships at both.
SPEAKER_09Brody Shaner will step in to face White here in the top of the fifth. Healing leads four to nothing. White delivers to Schayner, bounces that ball in there for ball one.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he was looking for that. You could tell he was he was really back on his heels on that one. He was looking for that pitch, just just didn't hang up like he wanted it to.
SPEAKER_09That ball lined sharply to third baseman, takes a couple steps.
SPEAKER_06That's a good at bat. He had a good at bat the last one, you know, smoked that one the last at bat, and he smoked that one too, down to third base.
SPEAKER_09Yep, and that, you know, last week, first few times up, everything he was hitting was was right down toward third base. Yeah, he looks like he's got that swing back. So with one out, that'll bring Carroll to the plate. Tommy had a huge hit to bring in those two runs. First pitch in there for a strike, no balls, one strike to Tommy Carroll. Again, Healing leads four to nothing here in the top of the fifth. That pitch outside for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Just a freshman, and uh but a good looking freshman at that. Good wheels. The curveball hit the dirt. Good good scoop by the by the catcher for for ball two.
SPEAKER_09Two balls, one strike on Tommy Currell. Gas went will follow him at the plate. Looks like we may have a pitch hitter for Gaswent. In there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. It looks like the left hander. Looks like Beckett Bladford.
SPEAKER_06Yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER_09Could be stepping in to pinch hit for Nathan. Here's the pitch by White. Low and outside. Ball three. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06You know, one thing about Tommy, and all in all three dates that we've had him so far, he looks confident at the plate. You know, he he when he comes up there, he looks like he's gonna get a hit. Good cut by Tommy. Just missed it. Just missed it.
SPEAKER_11He's gonna bring up the right fielder, number 25, Nathan Gaswin.
SPEAKER_09Carroll strikes out. Beckett Bladford will pinch hit for Nathan Gaswin. Beckett batting 333 on the season. Stands in from the left side. Well, I would not throw him a fastball.
SPEAKER_06Beckett Blackwell. He he turns on fastball. He struggled a little a little bit when he saw that slow curve the other night.
SPEAKER_09Swing and a miss there for strike one. Just fouled that off. No balls one strike. We're on the top of the fifth, and healing leads north. Four to nothing.
SPEAKER_06I think they did their homework on that. That's exactly what he threw him was a slow curve. Now he just sits back on that. He'll take that thing.
SPEAKER_09Here's a pitch. In there for strike two. Wonder if he was looking for the same thing there.
SPEAKER_06Boy, I tell you what. I mean I would have. That's a good pitch by the pitcher to come back with that.
SPEAKER_10Here's the pitch by White.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good hold up.
SPEAKER_06Good holdup.
SPEAKER_09Blatchford able to hold off. One ball, two strikes. Two outs. Healing leads four to nothing in the top of the fifth. Here's the pitch. That pitch just high for ball two.
SPEAKER_06Two balls, two strikes. Great job, framing by the catcher. We were talking about that where he catches it. It looks like a strike, but then obviously it comes over a little bit high. But you know, a good catcher can make anything look like a strike. White with the pitch. Blatchford.
SPEAKER_09Oh, he hits that line drive right at the shortstop. Shortstop jumps up and is able to make the play. Absolutely. Healing three up, three down. We will head to the bottom of the fifth with the Crusaders leading north, four to nothing.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_09We are back at Butts Broth Field, and Caleb LaFavor is back out to start this fifth inning. He will face. Let me flip the scorebook over here. Want to thank our scorekeeper. He went home and got us a table, so John and I would have something to put equipment on and keep score on. They're bringing the top of the order up. It'll be White, Moganson, and Henry.
SPEAKER_06A few more of our sponsors, Mike Cruz Financial Group, Joe and his son out there. Give them a call. Lawler Fixtures, Liberty National Bank, Lightform, Modern Day Parish, and McLean. Excuse me, McClintock Insurance. Shout out to my good friend Tim, classmate of mine from 1981. Thank you for sponsoring Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_09White will step in to face LaFavor here in the bottom of the fifth. Swing and a miss there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Keep the score zeros for the stars. Pitches outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. I know she's not listening, but I'd like to thank my daughter Alicia for bringing John and I some f flavor ice to cool us off and keep our throats wet. That pitch was in there for a strike, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06That was a dart. That had to have been about a 94 mile an hour fastball.
SPEAKER_09Alicia does it all in the office at school and takes care of her dad on the road. Thank you, yeah. Thank you, Alicia. That that hit the spot, let me tell you. Two balls, two strikes to White.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you got some great daughters, Mike. Thank a son.
SPEAKER_09They take after their mom. Yes, they do. Jay Moginson to be on deck. That pitch was way outside, gets away from Peyton Erickson for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. You know, if I didn't agree with you, Ann would have been all all over me. I think she's home. I think she finally turned the air conditioning on tonight. So she's in she's probably enjoying a uh that pitch drops in there for strike three. Caught him looking for the first out. That'll bring up Mogenson. She's probably enjoying a Chardonnay and uh maybe listening to us, maybe not Mogenson steps in. Uh he's had the good fortune of being hit by pitch twice.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_09Didn't deter him. He took the cut at that one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06No, they these two have played ball. They played ball against each other, Mike. They played ball with each other. You know, I mean, there it's just it's just, you know, it's just competitiveness and and competing at its best, you know. I mean, they've known each other and seen each other.
SPEAKER_09That pitch was outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. One out here in the bottom of the fifth. Good chance. Chasing a bad one there.
SPEAKER_06Threw that exact same pitch, and I'm and I got him got him leaning on that.
SPEAKER_09One ball, two strikes to Mogansen. Henry will be up next. Pitch by LeFavre. Back up the middle. Beck feels it behind the bag. Bounces it over to LaFavor at first.
SPEAKER_06Gets away from him. Good job. Ethan Erickson backing him up to get that ball and prevent Mogenson from going to second.
unknownHenry.
SPEAKER_06Beautiful play by Beck. Just one hopped it, and uh Aiden just couldn't get it, couldn't squeeze it.
SPEAKER_09That'll bring Henry to the plate with one out. Shrunk would be up next. Healing leads four to nothing. We are in the bottom of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, Henry, he's good looking. Good looking athlete. Plays a real nice center field for the stars. And of course, Mogenson, just a great all-around athlete basketball, football. What they call here. I missed that, Mike. Did you see that? I did not see what he did, but I didn't either.
SPEAKER_09The home plate umpire stepped out and motioned for the runner at first to go down to second. So North North now has a runner at second base with one out. One ball, no strikes to Henry.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, dangerous hitter, so it'd be nice to get through him. He's going. Called another balk.
SPEAKER_11So we got a second ball called.
SPEAKER_06So something's going on here. Either I'm guessing Aiden's not coming set. Or excuse me, uh Caleb's not coming set. It's the only thing I can think of because he called balk before he took off Stealing.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, the runner broke from second. That pitch in there for a strike, so it's one ball, one strike to Henry. Mogenson on third with one out. Healing leads us in four to nothing. Favor looks in and delivers. Swing and a miss. Strike two. One ball, two strikes to Henry. He just wants to put the ball in play and try to get that run in from third. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Erickson drops it, throws down to Lefaver at first for the out.
SPEAKER_06Good job by Ethan there. So I think what what's happening there, Mike, is when Caleb comes set, sometimes he's set first, and then he's coming up here and going. He's bringing his glove up. And I don't think that's a balk, but but the umps, but the um's counting that as his set when he's really set before he goes up. And I think that's what he called those last two balks on that.
SPEAKER_09Coach Wesselman out having conversation with the favors going to leave him in.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think that's I think Coach Wesselman came out and I think that's what he's talking to him about, is that when he starts off he's here and then and he's coming up, but um and obviously this umpire, I mean, he's he's counting that as as him coming to a he's got to come to a one-count set.
SPEAKER_09LaFaver deals. First pitch, bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes, shrunk at the plate. If he's able to extend the inning, Nillis would be next. Here's LaFavor with the pitch. That pitch in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_06One ball, two, one ball, one strike. That was just a gorgeous pitch. Uh, right at the knee on the outside corner, almost impossible to hit.
SPEAKER_09Mogenson at third, two outs. Healing leads us in four to nothing. Here's the pitch by LeFavre. Off LaFavre's glove. Beck fields it at second, throws over to Aiden LeFavre at first. That is a your typical one-four-three put out for out number three. That'll send us through five, Healing four, North Zero. We will be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_09White still on the mound for the North Stars here as we get ready to start the sixth inning.
SPEAKER_15Leading off the top of the sixth inning for Healan.
SPEAKER_11First baseman. Looks like we've got number four, Alex Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Arods in. We got to see him hit uh the other night, and then he came in and faced four batters and got four outs the other night, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he did do a good job. And just like we talked about at the start, it looks like Caleb may be his night may be over, and the scouts are taking their backpacks and radar guns and heading to the car.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_09That first pitch in there to Rodriguez. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. Pitch outside for ball two. Yeah, good good eye on the on A-Rod. Two balls, no strikes. We're here in the top of the sixth inning. Healing leads the North Stars four to nothing. Here's the pitch. Good cut. Swing and a miss there by A-Rod for strike one. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, real good cut by Alex. Pitch by White. Bounces in there for ball three. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, White's got to be getting up there in pitches as well. He's got to be uh I'm I'm saying he's getting close.
SPEAKER_09That pitch in there nicely for strike two. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes on Rodriguez. Beck would be next, followed by Knapp. Rodriguez fouls that pitch off to keep the count full at three and two.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, just dip that back elbow. He straightens that elbow out and drive that. That was a beautiful pitch to hit. Just missed it. Keep that elbow up.
SPEAKER_09Rodriguez steps back in. The wind up and the pitch. Got him looking for strike three. First out of the inning.
SPEAKER_11Strike up for white. We'll bring it up. Number 15, Zach Harpino.
SPEAKER_09Got a pinch hitter for Beck. We've got Zach Harpino on the lineup. He steps in for the first time. Zach has had one plate appearance, struck out in his only time up this year. Wind up and pitched by White. In there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Another all-around good athlete for the Crusaders, good football player where he'll be continuing his football morning side.
SPEAKER_09Pitch breaks in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Well, we talked about the bottom of the lineup starting to hit the ball, and they did. We got pinch hitters galore here. Yeah. Yep. Pops that up. Second first baseman settles under it for the easy out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think Coach Welsman's trying to get give some guys uh some at-bats and and to see, you know, I mean, he needs some guys to make contact, and uh and the only way you're gonna do that is give him the bats. And uh, you know, that was a nice at-bat for Zach, just missed that, and pop up to the second baseman.
SPEAKER_15Looks like we've got number six, Jackson Vickery up for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_09Jackson Vicker Vickery steps in to pinch hit for Dylan Knapp here in the bottom of the sixth.
SPEAKER_06I think this is this is his first at bat, Mike.
SPEAKER_09Yep, it is his first at bat for the year. That first pitch is a ball. One ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Well, we know if he pinches for JJ Hope, he's really trying to mess with this, John.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball three, three balls, no strikes. Two outs, bot or top of the sixth inning. Healing leads north, four to nothing.
SPEAKER_06Got two baseballs on the field here, so only need one. Take your pick, guys. That young man's got a nice stance.
SPEAKER_10White delivers.
SPEAKER_06Oh.
SPEAKER_09You do not you do not want to do that with this umpire, I can tell you that. That's three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he thought he was walking and and uh threw the bat back, so let's uh let's get back in there, young man.
SPEAKER_10Here's the pitch by White. That pitch is high for ball four.
SPEAKER_09That puts Vickery at first with two outs, brings JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, let's get it going with two, Mike. Uh, you know, I mean, we got one, two, and three coming up. See what coach, uh, assistant coach Tillow is uh he is um, I think he's making a pitch and change here. My guess is he's pretty close to his pitch count. And that's that's exactly what's going on here.
SPEAKER_09Yep, so that'll do it for White. Admirable job pitching by him tonight. Zach Hagan will take over on the mound.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he really did do a good job. He, for the most part, he kept the the hitters at bay. Uh, you know, a couple baubles in the infield uh produced a couple runs for us. You know, I'm he really only gave up those two runs in that one inning that were clean. Uh so nice job by him.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he did a really nice job. We are gonna take a 30-second break and we will be back.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Waiting for Hagan to finish his warmups here, and it looks like White will take over in right field for A. Mogensen. Hagan, a big kid out there.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he is. He's uh just a big presence.
SPEAKER_09All right, we're about ready to resume play here. He's finished with his warm-ups. Everybody's heading back to their spot on the infield and the outfield.
SPEAKER_11Nolan White moves to right field.
SPEAKER_06Kind of throws with that shot arm throw, kind of more like a third baseman catcher, so he'll be a little bit different uh release than uh these guys are used to. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Hagan coming from the stretch here against JJ. Pitch to JJ outside, ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_10Pitch to the plate.
SPEAKER_09It's kind of a push-shot put motion there, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it really is.
SPEAKER_10It's it's uh good velocity, just a different kind of release.
SPEAKER_06Just a little high so far.
SPEAKER_09Here's a pitch by Hagan. Boy. JJ lines that right to the second baseman for the third out.
SPEAKER_06That was an absolute roll.
SPEAKER_09So Healan will leave one man on as we head to the bottom of the sixth. They lead four to nothing. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09We're back here at Bucksby Roth Field, bottom of the sixth inning. North will send up Nilis, Whitney, and Werheim. Moravic will take over for Caleb LaFaver on the mound. Mason has a 1-0 record, pitched 4.1 innings. Teams are hitting 238 against him. He's got five strikeouts, six walks, and an ERA of 1.62. And those six walks, three of them were right in a row whenever he first came in last week. He pitched himself into a spot and was able to get out of it.
SPEAKER_06So yeah. Yeah, done a nice job coming in, and um you know, even up at MOC he He came in and and threw well and then just kinda uh uh was unfortunate there. Uh came in with that big inning in the middle of the game and and gave up a couple runs, but uh other than that, you know, Mason's right around the plate. Comes from the left side. He's not gonna overpower you, Mike. You know, we talked about that. He's he's just gonna have to hit spots.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's a confident and smart kid, so I don't imagine that we'll see anything different than what we saw last week. We are here in the bottom of the sixth inning. Healan leads this one four to nothing. Nilis ready to step in.
SPEAKER_15It's number nine, Mason Moravic. And up for your stars, the designated hitter, number 19, Joe Nillis.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, this is a tough spot for Moravik coming in, kind of in the middle of the of the stars lineup. Um needs to get through these first couple batters.
SPEAKER_09Moravic is a lefty.
SPEAKER_06One ball, no strikes. That's all right, get that out of the way.
SPEAKER_09Just low for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Hit to Shaner over a third, scoops it up, bounces in the favorite first, gets away from him. That'll be an error on the first baseman.
SPEAKER_15Gotta bring up the left fielder.
SPEAKER_06Beautiful play by Shaner. Just uh just one hop that thing, and and uh and Aiden couldn't come up with it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they they had him in plenty of time. Uh good throw would have had it. So Nillis is at first, brings Whitney to the plate. Nobody out. Moravic looks in. Looks like Rodriguez is heading down to the bullpen just to get loose, John.
SPEAKER_06Yep.
SPEAKER_09That pitch fouled off for strike one. If anybody knows where or what Green County is, please text John or something and let him know.
SPEAKER_06Jefferson City, I looked it up, Mike. Jefferson City, Iowa.
SPEAKER_09One ball, one strike to count, swing and a miss, strike two. Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think it's the old Jefferson City Scranton school district that they combine some schools with. But they've got a grandson playing, so I'll be leaving here and going watching the Crusaders on, and Tim Swedeen will be filling in for me. Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_09Nice curved ball. That's that pitch fouled off. Keep the count. One ball, two strikes. Nillis at first, no outs. Healing leads four to nothing. We're in the bottom of the sixth. Pitch by Mason. Bounces in there. Peyton's able to keep it close.
SPEAKER_06Runner can't advance. Yeah, good job by Peyton getting up, getting hot, you know, getting out of that crouch and coming up with the ball.
SPEAKER_09Two balls, two strikes to count. To Whitney. Moravic looks in and comes set. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_06There you go, nice.
SPEAKER_09Got him looking for strike three. So one out. Nillis at first. That'll bring third baseman Werheim to the plate.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you know, Moravik looks like to me, Mike, just at least throwing with a little more velocity tonight.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Looks over at first, checks the runner. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_06Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_09Pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_06Painted that outside corner. Good job by Peyton. You know, he does have that sneaky move over to first if you kind of get off too far.
SPEAKER_09Ball fouled over our head. I had you, Mike. Here in the press box. It's no balls, two strikes to Werheim. Kling would be next.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, these are these are huge outs here for us. I mean, especially for Moravic.
SPEAKER_09Pitch by Mason. Hit sharply between center and right. They're going to hold the runner at second base. Which was smart because Gaswin has got a cannon out there.
SPEAKER_11Shortstop.
SPEAKER_09So we've got runners at first and second. One out here in the bottom of the sixth.
SPEAKER_15Looks like Kling is going to be pinch hit for by number 15. Tatum Kinneman.
SPEAKER_09We have a pinch hitter coming up. It's Kinneman for Kling. So North has runners at first and second with one out. Healing leads four to nothing. North got a little bit, a little something going here in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SPEAKER_06You know, Nathan, he I mean Moravic's, he's right around the plate. There again, he's throwing nice. He's right there.
SPEAKER_09If you want to make contact, he's gonna he's got it where it's close.
SPEAKER_06You know, we got uh situation baseball here. I mean, we can turn it up the middle. There's uh, you know, you gotta force at any base other than home right now. So here's the pitch. Good pitch.
SPEAKER_09Way out in front of that one for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06He really just a beautiful hanger. Come back with that thing on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_09No balls, two strikes. Runners at first and second for the North Stars, bottom of the sixth inning, one out, they trail four to nothing. Here's the pitch by Mason. A little bit low. Bounces in there to Peyton for ball one, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Well, this is the situation he came in the other night, Mike. Guy on first and second, and uh did a wonderful job. So let's uh let's finish this guy off.
SPEAKER_09Here's a pitch by Moravic. Bounces that one in there, brings the count to two and two. Two balls, two strikes, two on, one out. North Star's trail healing, four to nothing in the bottom of the sixth.
SPEAKER_06Boy, you really want to you want to get these guys right here. You really do not want to face the top of the order with these guys in scoring position.
SPEAKER_09Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_06There you go. Got him looking for strike three. Beautiful, right at the right at the knees. Outside corner, Mike. I don't think any chance of him touching that.
SPEAKER_14Number three, Howie McCormick.
SPEAKER_09That'll send McCormick to the plate. Runners at first and second, two outs, bottom of the sixth inning. Healing leads this one four to nothing. Trying to finish this off and stay perfect in the MRAC. Moravic comes set, delivers that pitch in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_06I mean, he he really bends that thing and gets a just a beautiful break on it.
SPEAKER_09We will be back on the air tomorrow night at 5.15 from West High. First pitch, 530. Here's his pitch by Moravik. Nice fouled into the heel and dugout. And they wisely turn and spin out of the way instead of sticking a hand up trying to catch it.
SPEAKER_06That's one of those ones. If you weren't awake, you are now.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And if you weren't awake, you you might be out because things skimmed about three guys over there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, if you're gonna stand up along the dugout there, you've got to be paying attention. Here's the pitch by Moravic.
SPEAKER_06Oh, that looked like a good pitch. Boy, that that had to have been either outside or up. One ball, two strikes. Two on, two out. Well, I don't think it was up. It had to have been outside because that was felt high.
SPEAKER_09Moravic comes set, looks in, and the pitch. Fouls that pitch off. Count stays at one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_06Well, he's really got that curveball working tonight, Mike. It's really breaking.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's yeah. Here's another question mark that was answered as to who was going to be in the bullpen and on the pit pitching staff.
SPEAKER_06This is a huge out.
SPEAKER_09Moravic deals to the plate. Fouled off again. One ball, two strikes. Healing leads here in the bottom of the sixth inning, four to nothing. Still plenty of time to get out here, folks, and enjoy the sauna.
SPEAKER_06Boy, has come back with that pitch. That that low that low fastball in the outside corner. He's setting up out there.
SPEAKER_09Here's a pitch by Mason. Beautiful. Swing and a miss for strike three. Great job. That'll end it for North here in the bottom of the sixth. They leave two runners on. Score remains four to nothing as we head to the seventh. We will be back in 30.
SPEAKER_12Hi, this is real estate agent Tammy Bertram with Keller Williams serving all of your residential and commercial real estate needs in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. My husband Rick and I proudly support Siouxland Catholic Radio and Arbishop Halen High School Athletics. As proud Catholic parents of Addison Halen Class of 2025, William Class of 2028, and Henry Class of 2030, we strive to spotlight the mission and the message of Siouxland Catholic Radio. Mary Queen of Peace, pray for us.
SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Well, we are back at Budsby Rod Field as John heads out of the press box to run up and move his car out of danger. He's going to head over to Memorial Field and watch the Healing Boys soccer team as they start their trip to state. He said he would keep us updated with scores. We're heading to the top of the seventh inning. Healan needs north, leads north, four to nothing. Healan will send Peyton Erickson, Caleb Lefaver, and Brody Shaner to the mound. And with John leaving, that brings in Tim Swedeen.
SPEAKER_08Good evening. I am very happy to be here with you this evening. And you know, one of the things that I always think about when it comes to broadcasting Bishop Healan Sports and Stooland Catholic Radio is the partnership that we share. And that's really an important piece of what we're trying to do here. Build alliances, build partnerships, making sure that the Toolan Catholic community knows exactly who we are and what we represent and what pieces of information we can relay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and you guys you guys do a really good job, and I know that we talk to a lot of people as the season goes on, and they're very appreciative of uh us bringing baseball and all the other sports to the fans, and we've got we've got people all across the country listening. They download the app and they're able to listen on there and uh just able to keep up with their grandson or their nephew or whatever and and just experience Catholic radio and healing healing athletics.
SPEAKER_08You know, one of the things that we see as people age is they maybe move closer to their kids as far as where their residence is going to be. With that, they take Soulean Catholic Radio with them. We got several Denvers, we got several Minneapolis, we got several Chicago's. We're just we're very blessed to have a group of listeners that follow us no matter where they move to.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's a really good reach. One ball or two balls, one strike to Peyton.
SPEAKER_08Peyton's had a good game. I really like the way he calls the game behind the plate.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's he's very smart. He's he had an older brother that I'm sure he learned a lot from, but he does he does a lot of things that you can tell are on his own. And he's he's very good. Tony kept pointing this out last year whenever he was on here. He kind of called him the CEO because he was able to go out, settle pitchers down uh when they were struggling a little bit, and it always seemed to work.
SPEAKER_08So that's gonna translate to uh if he ever wants to play college, that's gonna translate real well to that.
SPEAKER_09That pitch outside for ball three, three balls, two strikes. Yeah, he's shown that he can be a leader, and obviously uh it won't be sports forever for him. So it's it'll it'll do him well in life and and in a career.
SPEAKER_08No doubt about it.
SPEAKER_09That ball bounces in there. Peyton takes first on the walk. That'll bring up Caleb Lefaver, who has been hitting the ball really well all season long.
SPEAKER_08So and of course he also started the game and pitched a really strong game. He was a little wilder this game than maybe he has been in the past, but he still throws the ball dang hard.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he does. And uh it's gotta be uh Heaton comes in to pinch run for Ericsson. But even though these scouts have been at his travel ball games and all that other stuff, it's still got to be a little bit intimidating to look out there and see 15 or 20 guys with you know professional baseball caps on and radar guns, and uh but he handles he handles it all very well. His parents uh make sure that he stays grounded, uh and I think the the baseball team has done a good job of keeping him grounded as well.
SPEAKER_08We can't ever forget that these kids are 18-year-old kids.
SPEAKER_09Yep, absolutely. Yes, and he uh he may have some tough decisions to make here in the next few weeks, and I'm sure he'll have a lot of help and support to make those decisions, so it'll be interesting to see how things go as the season moves on for him.
SPEAKER_08That was a nice pitch.
SPEAKER_09Caleb in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_08That was a nice pitch.
SPEAKER_09Heaton advanced the second on the pass ball. It's one ball, one strike. Heaton in scoring position. Caleb good at making contact. Here's the pitch to Caleb. That pitch is low. He is probably not gonna get anything good to hit.
SPEAKER_08No, this guy's throwing him pretty low. I mean, he's if he's gonna do anything, he's gonna have to golf it because I think they're they're pitching him very low in the zone.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and it's you know, we've Healing has one home run and it's Shayner, and John and I always talk about you pitch around Lefavre to get to Shayner. I'm not so sure that's always a good idea, but no. Uh two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_08As an ump, I'm sure it's a little tough to get that strike zone on a six foot-seven kid.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, absolutely. Heaton at second base with a sizable lead. That pitch was high even for a six-seven kid. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. We are in the top of the seventh. The Healing Crusaders lead north, four to nothing. Looking to finish this one off and move to 5-0 in the Missouri River Athletic Conference. Here's the pitch. Caught him looking for strike three. Caleb thought it was low and started toward first base, and the umpire said, Come on back.
unknownNumber 11.
SPEAKER_14Brody Schaehner.
SPEAKER_09So that'll be the first out for Healen. Heaton remains at second base. Shaner steps in, he'll be followed by Carroll. Brody, as we said, with the one home run for Healen. It was a grand slam last week, and you knew it was gone when he hit it. That pitch is high for ball one. Transfer from Lawton Bronson. Had a chance to talk to his parents the other night and was able to give a shout out to his grandmother and grandfather. His grandfather just had open art surgery, and grandma's taking care of him. So they're listening to the radio and cheering healing and their grandson on. That pitch in there for a strike, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_08I do like the confidence that this umpire has behind the plate. He really makes his calls with a force. He knows he knows what he wants and he knows where he's gonna put it.
SPEAKER_09I've I've watched him for three or four years, and confidence is a is if you look it up in the dictionary, this guy's picture is there because he is very confident in himself.
SPEAKER_08That pitch is that it hit off of bat, right? It didn't hit his hand.
SPEAKER_09They're saying it was a hit by pitch.
SPEAKER_08Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_09He started to swing at it, and it must have hit him on the arm. So that'll put runners at first and second. One out. Got Schaehner at first, Heaton at second. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. Here's the hero of the day.
SPEAKER_08He had a two-run knock in the second inning.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, third inning, excuse me. If you uh if you said I'm gonna go to a baseball game and see a bunch of hit by pitches, you got you got your wish tonight, folks. There have been several of them. That pitch in there for a ball gets away from the catcher, both runners will advance. So now Healing has two runners in scoring position, one ball, no strikes to Carroll. They lead four to nothing, and looking to add to that here in the top of the seventh.
SPEAKER_08Tommy's a freshman, but he plays a lot more mature than that.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's been he's been hitting the ball well. Uh still young. A lot of youth on this team, and and Monday night some of it showed, but uh they're gonna battle through that and they're gonna grow and learn and just get better as time goes on. That pitch high for ball two, two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_08Well, dad was very athletic and he's raised a lot of athletic kids. Daughter Colby was on the girls' state basketball team. Uh they just have a very athletic family.
SPEAKER_09Yes, they do. And here's the pitch.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_09Oh, delayed call there by the umpire. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_08You know, the hard part of looking at it from the press box is you can't see how far inside outside it is. You can see where it's at on the side of the plate, but you can't see inside outside.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it makes it tough. We commented on that start. This is our first time. We haven't been behind the plate this year. And the pitch. Carroll hits it.
SPEAKER_08Base hit, base hit.
SPEAKER_09Carroll hits that. Left fielder bobbles it. Heaton's able to score from third to make the score five to nothing. Shayner advances to third. Carroll on first with the single.
SPEAKER_08Tommy has three RBIs for the night. He's having a great night.
SPEAKER_09That'll bring Nathan Gaswin to the plate.
SPEAKER_11Nathan Gaswin.
SPEAKER_09Nathan looking for that first hit of the season. Hit the ball well tonight. He just is hitting it right at people, so needs to hit it and put it where somebody's not and get that monkey off his back and get that first hit.
SPEAKER_08Early in the game, he hit one really strong drive to the outfield, but they ended up catching him.
SPEAKER_09That pitch way inside. He has to duck out of the way for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_08You think Tommy's gonna go here? He got matters on first and third. I think Tommy's gonna go.
SPEAKER_09I would I would put him in motion. Doesn't go then. That pitch is high for ball two, two balls, no strikes. I would imagine he's gonna go sometime in this at bat.
SPEAKER_08He's a very fast kid, so I'm sure that he can get there. He's not the fastest, but he's he's one of 'em.
SPEAKER_09Pitch dealt to the plate. In there for strike one, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_08I remember I plays corner in football, so he's you he's used to using the speed.
SPEAKER_10Yep.
SPEAKER_09Pitcher checks both runners, delivers to the plate. That ball hit sharply past the second baseman. Shayner will score from third. Carroll will go to will go to third. That makes a score six to nothing. And that is the first hit of the season for Nathan Gaswin, and it's a big one. Drives in a run and adds to the lead.
SPEAKER_08Line drive into right field. It was a hit going to be all the way. There's not a question.
SPEAKER_11Brings up number 18, Aiden McPaber.
SPEAKER_09Now here's another one who doesn't have a hit yet. He's gotten on base several times with walks and hit by pitches. Has two RBIs, and they've both been from that variety. So Nathan's got his. Let Aiden get his next. Here's the pitch. He hits that. Base hit. Right past the first baseman. Carroll will score from third. Gas went all the way to third. He ball gets away from third baseman. He's coming home. He is going to score from first base, folks. Great job of base running by Nathan Gas went there. And if you've seen him run, folks, he's not fast, but he got there.
SPEAKER_08Well, it took to the seventh inning, but they busted it open. It's eight to nothing.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely. LaFaver with the single and advances to second on the ball that got away from the third baseman. Healing now leads this one eight to nothing. We're in the top of the seventh. There's one out, and LaFaver is at second base. Chase Beck steps in. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_08You really can't lay this too much on the pitcher because they've had some sloppy fielding.
SPEAKER_09Yep, that's true. Good to see Nathan and Aiden get those first hits.
SPEAKER_08Aiden staying. Yes.
SPEAKER_09Aiden will hold it third.
SPEAKER_08So men on first and third.
SPEAKER_09Got runners on first and third with one out. And John and I had talked at the start that if we can get the bottom of this batting order to start hitting the ball, we can be really dangerous down the road. And so far, we've got it going. Yep. First and third, one out. Healing leads eight to nothing. We're in the top of the seventh. Dylan Knapp at the plate. There for strike one. One ball, no strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_08Another great athlete. Corner and wide receiver on the football team.
SPEAKER_09Yep. Dylan Dylan has got speed. He was a designated pinch runner last year, and I promised him I wouldn't call him Dilly too many times this year, but I'll get one in here now. I should probably tell him I'm going to call him Dilly until he strings a couple hits together. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_08Mom Leah would love that.
SPEAKER_09Yes. Mom and Dad love it. Dylan not so much. Pitcher looks in, shakes sign-off. Checks over at first base. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there. Gets away from the catcher. Aiden's going to try to score from third, and he does. That makes score nine to nothing. Beck goes down to second. Count is one ball, two strikes on nap. Still only one out here in the ninth inning. Or seventh inning, I'm sorry. And for those of you who are wondering, we are not going to get the second game started at 7.30. So if you tuned in for game two, catch the end of this one. And we'll bring game two to you approximately 30 minutes at the conclusion of this one.
SPEAKER_10Pitch to Dylan.
SPEAKER_09Way up high. Ball two. Two balls, two strikes. He'll push five runs across the board this inning. And the pitch. Strike three, I'm sorry. Maybe the heat's starting to get to me here. Back to the top of the order brings up JJ Hope. Got an update from John Tritz at Memorial Field. The Healing Boys are up two to one in the first half. JJ steps in back at second base. Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. JJ, the ninth batter of the inning. Checks the runner at second. Delivers home. There it is. JJ lines that over the second baseman's head. Beck will score from second. That will make the score 10 to nothing. JJ Hope with the single. JJ at first, two outs. That'll bring Peyton Erickson to the plate. Got everything started with a walk. Scored the first run of the inning.
SPEAKER_08You know, it's really interesting in this age of specialization how many multi-sport athletes we have here. They're key players on the football and basketball teams as well as on the baseball team.
SPEAKER_09Peyton's mom behind home plate getting this at bad on video. That pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Swing and a miss for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Again, JJ Hope at first base. Probably not a threat to run with the score ten to nothing. Pitcher checks him at first base anyway. Delivery to the plate. Outside and low for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Here's the pitch. Popped out into short center. That ball is going to drop. JJ's gonna go all the way to third on the play. Erickson with the single. Hope advances to third. We've got runners at first and third with two outs, and that'll bring Caleb LeFaver to the plate.
SPEAKER_11Caleb LeFavre.
SPEAKER_08That's the important piece of hitting, is just hit them where they ain't.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely. Push it out just far enough to get it over the second baseman's head and just short enough that the center fielder couldn't get to it. Heading out to have a conversation here. Looks like we might have a pitching change. And we do. We will take a 30-second break and we will be back.
SPEAKER_22Hi, Christy and Dave here from Sneakies. Having friends over to watch the big game, you're gonna need some serious munchies. Just call Sneaky's Carryout at 252-0522 to make it a great tailgate with delicious chicken, ribs, hot wings, fresh-made salads, and homemade dressings.
SPEAKER_19Sneakies is perfect. Give the fans our carryout number again.
SPEAKER_22252-0522. Call 15 minutes ahead, and Sneaky's carryout will have your game day grub ready to go when you arrive.
SPEAKER_19Friends, football and great food from Sneaky's for the win.
SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_08You know, as we go through this, we are so incredibly blessed to have the sponsors that we do. We can't do this without them. We do encourage you to, if you need the products or services of the people you hear mentioned on these broadcasts, please come, patronize them, buy the products that they have, because they make this possible that you can sit there and listen to a game and become really informed about what's going on. Some of those sponsors are New Crib Inspection, People's Bank Stew City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace, Trinity Heights, Rooley Family Chiropractic, Steph and Stephanie's Tram at Tram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Stewart, Stew Body Shop, Stew City Musketeers, Stew City Sprinkler, David Gross and the Stew City Symphony Orchestra. Just heard their commercial. Dave and Christie, Snakey's Chicken, wonderful sponsor, wonderful supporter of our station. Sohoe Kitchen and Bar, Kelly Quinn, St. Augustine Indian Mission. Again, we are so incredibly blessed to have these sponsors. They are allow us to do what we can do. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and when we were up at uh Orange City the other night, the the folks up there were very gracious and kind, and uh you could tell they were a little jealous that uh we carry the Healing Athletics on the radio, and and at least for baseball, they don't have that. So first pitch in there for a ball, ball one to LaFaver.
SPEAKER_08We feel blessed to be the voice of Healing Sports, and that's in at least in my mind not gonna change.
SPEAKER_09Here's the pitch. That pitch is high. Two balls, no strikes. Got hope at third. Erickson at first. I'm sorry, Heaton is in for Erickson. I should have known Peyton was on. We got a pinch runner. Here's the pitch. Another pitch high for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Again, I don't think anybody on the base is any danger to run unless it's a pass ball. Lafaver. Pitches in there for a strike. Strike one, three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_08Pitching for North is Andrew Hagen. He's got uh only 33 pitches on the year, so he hasn't had a low lot of experience yet.
SPEAKER_10Big kid throws hard.
SPEAKER_09Popped him up. Caleb fouls that off. Out of play down third baseline. If you just joined us, we're in the top of the seventh. Healan leads north 10 to nothing. It was a four to nothing game at the start of this inning, and Healing has been able to string together six runs here in this inning. Here's the pitch. Caleb fouls that one off. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Erickson. Heaton's got a clean uniform. I want to see him slide and get that dirty. He takes off. There it is. That ball hit sharply to the shortstop, bounces off his glove. Hope will score from third. That'll make the score 11 to nothing. Erickson will advance to second. Lafaver on with the base hit. Runners at first and second, two outs. Healing leads this one 11 to nothing. We're in the top of the seventh.
SPEAKER_14Brings up number 11, Brody Schaehner.
SPEAKER_09That was E6 for sure. Shaner will step in. Pitch to Shaner. Foul down the third baseline for strike one. No balls, one strike. Shaner steps back in. Hagan checks the runners, looks to the plate, deals. Pitch high for ball one, one ball, one strike. That ball bounces in there, gets away from the catcher. Both runners will advance. Heaton to third. Lefavre to second. So now Healen has runners at second and third, two outs. Two balls, one strike to count to Shaner. Healon has blown this one open here in the top of the seventh. They lead 11 to nothing. Here's a pitch by Hagan. Pitch is high. Ball three, three balls, one strike. Hagan pitching from the wind up now. That pitch in there for a strike. Full count to Schayner. LaFaver at second. Heaton at third. Healen leads 11 to nothing. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss by Schoener for strike three. Good cut there. Not able to make contact. Healen scores seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to make it 11 to nothing. We will head to the bottom of the seventh and we'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back everyone. Mason Moravic is back out on the mound to start this seventh inning and hopefully he'll finish it. Helan leads this one 11 to nothing.
SPEAKER_08There's no doubt that they busted that open in the seventh inning. So I mean there were seven runs scored in the seventh inning. And again, there were some really solidly placed hits, but there was also some sloppy fielding on Norse part of the point of view.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's it's good to see the contact by especially the bottom part of the batting order, making contact, putting it in play, uh hitting it where the first and second baseman worked for gas went. Right uh little to favor. So sometimes it's easier for me to call him little to favor than Aiden because I uh sometimes I forget, but White's gonna lead off here in the top of the seventh inning for North.
SPEAKER_08I think it's just incredible to me the young kids that are playing here. I mean, Tommy Carroll's a freshman, Aiden Lefavre's an eighth grader, Heaton Hendricks is an eighth grader. I mean, it's just it's just an incredible concept. These young kids have the talent to be able to work themselves into the lineup.
SPEAKER_09Yep, and it's obvious they've put in the time over the years and in the offseason. That first pitch by Mason is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Pitch by Moravic. Just high for ball two, two balls, no strikes. And the pitch. Oh. JJ jumped up to try to make a play on that, and it bounced off his glove and headed out into left field.
SPEAKER_15Base hit for White is going to bring up the first baseman. Number six, Jack Mogensen.
SPEAKER_08He just didn't have a chance to corner it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it was good effort by his part. He just wasn't able to bring it in. So White will be at first. Mogison will be up, and he'll be followed by Henry. Bottom of the seventh here, Crusaders lead 11 to nothing. Here's the pitch by Moravic. Just high for ball one. Moravic throws over to first. White able to get back. Unless they just want to try to break the shutout. I can't see trying to steal a base 11 to nothing, but. No, I don't think so. That ball hit foul down the third baseline. Head coach tries to make a play on it and wisely decides to let it go by.
SPEAKER_08You've seen more of this team than I have. I'm wondering if anybody would really run on Peyton, because Peyton's got a pretty good gun, I think.
SPEAKER_09He's got a good good pop time, as they like to call it, and he's got a good gun. He's north is 22 for 22 in stolen bases on the year. That ball gets away from Erickson, gets back to the backstop. Got two balls, one strike, the count to Mogenson. Again, Henry will follow, and Shrunk will be after Henry. Here's the pitch. Ball just gets under Shaner's glove at third base. So North got a little something going here. They've got runners at first and third. No outs. Henry steps in.
SPEAKER_08And Brody knows it too. He knows he should have had that.
SPEAKER_09Henry was hit by a pitch the first time up and it struck out the last two times up. So if you're a North High fan, you're hoping he's due. Love to get the pitcher's best friend here at double play. First pitch in there for a strike. No ball is one strike.
SPEAKER_08Ooh.
SPEAKER_09White turned on that one, but it's foul.
SPEAKER_08Long foul down the third baseline. Lucky your car is not down that way.
SPEAKER_09Yes, I I made it a short walk with the boxes so I could get up here, and that comes from being here last year and knowing where it's at. No balls, two strikes. Off Schaehner's glove at third. Hope was backing him up, but when it hit his glove, it bounced away.
SPEAKER_15So every score is white.
SPEAKER_09White is able to score, bring makes a score 11-1. North has runners at first and second. No outs. Shrunk at the plate. He'll be followed by Nillis. Moving along and a good clip early in the game, and things have bogged down here a little bit these last few innings. Aravic looks in. First pitch. Popped up on the infield. JJ Hope calls for it. Settles under it. Makes that nice two-handed catch that us old school baseball players really love. Joe Nillis is up. He struck out looking the first two times. Reached on an error the last time. Don't forget, folks, Friday. We've got a breakfast with the Crusaders game at 10 o'clock. And then we have high T with the Crusaders at four. Runners are going. Erickson good throw down to Schayner. Runners able to take third base, so now there's runners at first and third. One out. That first pitch to Nillis was a strike. No balls, one strike. Well, there goes my down 11 to nothing, 11 to 1. I can't see anybody running. My wife says I know a lot about nothing, and apparently I don't know anything about stealing bases down 11 to nothing. Or 11 to 1.
SPEAKER_08Well, we could sure put you in that coach's box over at third base if we wanted to.
SPEAKER_09I'll pass. They're much smarter than I am. I've never lost a game in the stands, and I've never missed a call from the stands. That ball just fouled down the third baseline.
SPEAKER_08This kid came into the game with a pretty good average.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he did. He came into the game with 333 average, and uh his dad's beaming down here, waiting to say. Nillis with the base hit. Oh, that ball's popped up. Cass went running in from right field. Makes the catch. The throw home gets away. Moganson will score from third. That makes the score 11-2. So there's two outs. Henry advances to second on the throw home. Whitney steps in. North has put two on the board this inning to make the score eleven to two. Robert toes the rubber. Looks in for the sign. Comes out. And the pitch. Swing in the middle for strike one. Gets away from Peyton a little bit. Henry is able to take third. No balls, one strike to Whitney. Here's the pitch. Just outside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Mason's done a really nice nice job since he's come in. He has given up a couple runs, but he's got good command of his pitches, and when he misses, he misses high. Otherwise, he's right around that strike zone every pitch. That pitch just outside for ball two, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_08There were a couple hits there to wonder if it was surely a hit or maybe an error. So I again that's really not Mason's fault.
SPEAKER_09Swing and a miss for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Henry down at third base. Mason looking to finish this game off here. Swing and a miss for strike three. That will end it. Healan comes out on top in game one, 11-2. We'll take a 30-second break and we'll be back for a short discussion of game one.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Game one just ended. Healan takes game one 11-2. Caleb LeFavor started, gave up no runs, pitched a little over, he pitched into the fifth inning. And then Mason Moravic came in, did an admirable job just like he did last week in relief. Gave up a couple runs in the seventh inning. And like Tim said, a couple of those hits were hard-hit balls, and just weren't able to make a play on them. And that allowed North to get some runners on base and get a couple runs. That's a positive for North moving up, you know, moving into this next game. We talked about uh John and I a lot at the end of the game and on the way home Monday night about finishing with positives and building on those. And I think that seventh inning uh gives North a little bit of confidence as we head into game two here.
SPEAKER_08You know, the important thing to remember is that again, Caleb with all the fair and fair around him is still an 18-year-old child. And in that 18-year-old, there are things like maybe nerves or things where wanting to perform very admirably. So I do think that he pitched incredibly well. You can see the speed, you can see the curveball, you can see that North was crowding the plate quite a bit. So in crowding the plate, they they were taking a lot of inside pitches, which led Caleb to hitting a few players. But again, they were crowding that plate quite a bit, but nobody that I can remember, maybe one or two kids barreled him up real well. It's just wasn't there wasn't a whole lot of barreling going on.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there's there you're not gonna get solid contact on on Caleb. And uh those scouts folks are here for a reason. They they know what the product is and they want to see it in person, and uh he's he's got a a bright future ahead of him. He did sign with Iowa. Uh all expectations are is that's where he will go, but you never know. The MLB draft is in a couple weeks, and uh he might hear his name called. It might be the right situation, and uh you you just you don't know until that time comes. So he's he handles the pressure well uh for a young man like Tim said. Uh it's got to be pretty uh you know pretty uh pretty tough and unbearable at times when I'm sure he's getting phone calls, I'm sure he's getting letters, I'm sure he's getting texts, he's getting emails. So it's coming from all directions, and you know there might maybe there's a time in the day where it's just like please make it stop. Give me, you know, give me half an hour. Let me let me be a kid for a while. But uh, like we said, he handles it well. He's got uh good leadership uh with his parents. They're doing a good job keeping him his head on his square on his shoulders, and uh we wouldn't expect anything less from uh Kathy and Jeff.
SPEAKER_08Jeff has a Skills Academy, so he's been training those kids for a long time, moving up and down.
SPEAKER_09We are gonna take a five-minute break. I'm guessing we'll be back with the first pitch in about 20 or 25 minutes. So we'll take a five-minute break and be back. We're gonna have Tim with us. He's got some things he wants to talk about, and we're gonna let him do that. And I'm gonna grab some water, and we're gonna have some fun. We'll be back in five minutes.
