And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station. Good evening.

SPEAKER_04

This is Tim Squadeen. I'm doing a poor imitation of John Tritz, the Briarcliff Hall of Famer, as the color man for this second game. You know, one of the things I want to bring up as executive director is our want and our have to build partnerships and alliances in the town related to Catholic facilities. Let's talk about who Catholic Radio is involved with as far as building alliances. The Diocese of Sioux City. We co-sponsor the Diocese Men's Conference. We're co-sponsoring the Bishop's Dinner for Education. We co-sponsor the Holy Spirit retirement home winner Gala. We work with Holy Cross Parish here in Sioux City related to Curious Catholics. We work with Modern Day and their Light Your Path product as well. Bishop Healan. We do everything from greeting the teachers as they come back to school in the fall to just feed one. Those are some of the things that we do with Healing, but we are so ingrained in the Healan logic that it is very important for us to understand that this builds community within our community. Lamar's Galen, we work very hard to try to bring them together. We work with them as, again, greeting people back, and the Just Feed One concept as well. Mary's Choice, we work with them on their dinner. Joanne Fox from our station is one who who emcees their event. Catholic charities, we work very closely with Amy Block as far as trying to create things that are going to do a good job as working together with them as well. And Trinity Heights working with them as well. Those are just some of the partnerships that we have. We can't do this on our own. We do this in a very blessed manner with the people who sponsor our sports. Those people who sponsor our sports include the following St. Augustine Indian Mission, Staber Meats, Sunnybrook Dental, Tim and Lisa Swadin, Tri-State Dental Care, Vance Thompson Vision, Wall of Fame, Wilm's Do It Best Hardware, Ren's Public Heating, Plumbing and Heating, The Bargain Center, Barclay Asphalt, Briarcliffe University, Barbero's Point After and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, and Catholic Charities. We relish the relationship that we have with these sponsors, and it is very important for us to understand that we cannot do this, and for you to understand we cannot do this without them. They are very important to what we're trying to do here, and they're trying to do a good job of promoting their product. If you can, please patronize them through their products and services because that's what's going to keep us on the air and keep us broadcasting to the best of our ability. We're going to hand it back to the station for one more group of sponsors. So please, Grace, can you take it away?

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

Welcome back, everyone, to Butt Spearov Field. We're waiting the start of game two. I can absolutely do that.

SPEAKER_04

You know, one of the things that about what we're trying to do with Bishop Healan is very much follows the school year. So, like teachers and students, during the summer we have a lesser activity. But some of those things that we're gonna have going on in the next few months is something that's gonna be very important to us. Curious Catholics at Holy Cross is gonna be a movie for greater glory. It is a wonderful movie about the Mexican Revolution. It's gonna be something that people are gonna really enjoy. So come to it. Sunday, June 14th, 5 o'clock, St. Michael's Parish Center on the Holy Cross campus, and just come. We find that you're gonna have food and it's gonna be a wonderful event. I think El Mets is gonna be grilling hamburgers, so it's gonna be a really fun event, and we're gonna be a see a really wonderful movie. This is one of the things that Father Schoen has shown us is that we can get together in a sense of community and watch a movie and and have the popcorn and MMs and everything else that goes along with it and still have a good time and again very much similar to what we're trying to do, build a sense of community within the concept. Plymouth County Fair, we partner with All Saints Parish in the Mars, and we're gonna try to work that fair. Stop by and see us. We have lots of giveaways for the kids, you're gonna find and lots of giveaways for the adults. It's gonna be something where we just try to work in conjunction with community organizations to try to provide a better product as we go forward. That is towards the end of July, towards the beginning of August, it is the Woodbury County Fair, and we partner with all the local Catholic entities that would be Modern Day Parish, Mary's Choice, the Sarah Club, um and I believe several others that create some level of a community. And again, stop by and see us as you go to the Woodbury County Fair because again, we have lots of giveaways, lots of things that we want to talk to you about. Please understand that we're about spreading the word. Very much we've always been an advocate for Catholic schools. Catholic schools are something where we see religion stressed on a day-to-day basis. What Catholic Radio is trying to do is stress religion on a day-to-day basis to the adult framework. What we're trying to do is make sure you understand that with the programming that we have, that you can change your life, change your station, become a better Catholic, change your routine. You know, we have found over a period of time that faith is very much about routines. So if you can change your routine to a greater faith answer, which is getting more involved in your parish, praying more often, going to mass more than on Sundays, and maybe a couple times a week, making sure that that you truly are treating everyone with the kindness that you hoped that you would be treated. Those are the things that we try to advocate at Catholic Radio. It's a very important piece of who we are and what we're trying to do. It's just one of those things that we try to do as a as an organization. Mike is working on the organization of the lineups here. So how far we get into it, Mike? Are we doing pretty well?

SPEAKER_03

I got the North lineup in the book. Okay. And I'm just starting on the healing. I'll have it here in just a couple minutes. Okay. It's basically the same lineup, but a couple changes on each side. So I probably could have just crossed a mountain and started over again.

SPEAKER_04

Started over. That's true. Who we got pitching for the teams in the second game here?

SPEAKER_03

It is going to be uh Dylan Dilly Knapp is going to be on the mound to start the the game for Healing.

SPEAKER_04

Um well I'm sure that Colin Lee are going to be right on top of it. So those are those are Dylan's parents, and and they love to watch him pitch.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they do, and uh always enjoy talking to them after the game. He he will put his headset on and listen to the baseball games uh while he's sitting there. Last year when we were out at East and we went off the air, uh he came over and let me know that his sister texted him and said, Hey, you guys are off the air. And I looked at him and said, Yes, we know. We don't have our headsets on, we're trying to figure it out. So we got back on, I looked over, gave him the thumbs up, and he let his sister know and he came back over and he said, My sister said you guys are back on, good job.

SPEAKER_04

So you know, one of the things that people don't probably understand, and make no mistake about it, as you're sitting here watching the game, if you'd love to hear our commentary as the game goes on, we love it. But if too many people truly get on their cell phones in the same avenue that we're we're broadcasting over the internet, it does potentially throw a shock into our system and takes us off to the air okay on an occasional basis. So just remember that. That if if you're here at the game and you want to listen to us, if if there might be a point in time and we have too many people who are listening on their cell phone, it it could cause a uh a break in service. So just remember that as as you're doing this. But make no mistake about it. We love the fact that that we're a part of your life. We love the fact that you listen to us on an ongoing basis. We love the fact that that you truly do love to hear when Mike says the next games are because those are the games that you're gonna put yourself in for and the games that you're gonna try to find yourself available for. And if of course, we'd love to have you here in person. So if if you have the opportunity to go to some of these games, this is a very exciting team. It's a young team, but it has a lot of excitement to it, and I think there's a lot of talent here. But I do also think that if you can't make it, please try to pick us up on the internet. Because we do have a multiple ways of hearing it. You can hear us on the internet, you can hear us through our app. We have a we have many signs out in the public there that if you download our QR code on on your Apple phone, you will be able to listen to us on the app. So if you're in northern Iowa, if you're on vacation in Minneapolis, you can still listen to Healing Baseball if you get us on your Apple QR code. It's a wonderful concept, and it's something that we relish to have with us as we go forward. We're gonna send it back to Grace for a couple more announcements. Two more, two more announcements, Grace, and then we'll go from there.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

JJ Hope will lead off playing shortstop. Peyton Erickson will catch and bat second. Caleb LeFavre will DH and bat third. Shayner will play third base and bat fourth. Tommy Carroll will bat fifth and play center field. Nathan Gaswent will bat sixth and play right field. Aiden LeFaver will bat seventh and play first. Chase Beckett's second, he will bat eighth. Dylan Knapp will be on the mound, he will be batting ninth. And in left field will be Mason Moravik and Caleb LeFavor will be DH'ing for him. For North, game number two. Pretty much the same lineup with some positions different, much like Healan. Leading off will be White. He'll be at second base. Batting second will be Jay Mogensen playing first base. Batting third will be Henry. He will be playing center field. Shrunk batting fourth, playing catcher. Batting fifth will be Nillis as a designated hitter. Batting sixth and pitching for North in game two will be Wareheim. Batting seventh playing left field will be Whitney. Batting eighth, A. Hagen playing right field, and batting ninth, playing third base, will be McCormick. Kling will be at shortstop, and Nillis will be DH'ing for him. So pretty much a lot of the same lineup, just guys in different spots, and uh we're getting ready to have ceremonial first pitch here. Got a couple of young men that are very excited to be out on the field getting to throw this first pitch out.

SPEAKER_04

What are you guessing, Mike? Maybe four and two? Maybe four and two years old? Maybe?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Somewhere along there. Catcher looked going out there looking a little timid. Think he's got some heat coming here. First hit. Pitch in there. That's a strike. Good throw. Second one, that's a strike. North has got a bright future. North has got a bright future with these two young men. It'll be a long time down the road, but they're off to a good start. Lefty and a righty.

SPEAKER_04

And they skip as they come off the field. That's exciting.

SPEAKER_18

Yeah, they uh contact the stars.

SPEAKER_03

Baseball is everybody's game.

SPEAKER_04

It's a universal sport that everybody loves.

SPEAKER_03

Just got another update from John. It's now five to one with 25 minutes to go in the game. So if you've got some free time after listening or watching Healing Baseball on Friday, head over to Memorial Field at 7 o'clock. Catch the Crusaders. If they win that, they will move on to the state tournament.

SPEAKER_04

I know you're close to the girls' team, Mike. What how what how do they do it? I know they're very successful, but I didn't know where they're at related to state tournament or anything like that.

SPEAKER_03

They start their tournament trail next Tuesday. Not sure who they play. They'll be at home. They win that, they'll play on Thursday. And if they win that, uh we'll leave probably Sunday, the what is that, the seventh, and head over, and I believe their first game in Ames. Uh they just moved the girls' state tournament over to Ames last year, so it's separate from the boys. Uh they we'd head over to Ames, I think, on Sunday, and their first game would be on Monday, the eighth.

SPEAKER_04

I know you were really, really close to bringing the state playoffs last year here to Sioux City, which was a wonderful concept. I congratulate you on that. Thank you. But the other piece of the equation is I know they've moved the state basketball tournaments from Des Moines to Ames. Is it just time for a change, or was there a financial effect, or are just just curious why they made the change? It appears as though everybody's moving from Des Moines to Ames.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's interesting because I never noticed until a few years ago that the boys always ended on Friday. It's true. They went Monday through Friday.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

So uh why why do the girls go till Saturday? The boys play Monday through Friday. And it's because the boys' association did not want to pay the additional money. The extra fee to be there on a Saturday. Girls Association says, you know, we don't care, we'll play. Interesting. So uh that was that was interesting. I was like, well, if Heal wins, you know, they're playing state championship, we can go over on Saturday. It's like, no, they play on Friday. So I would have some friendly discourse between myself and my two daughters who work at Healing, and they would show me an a hard copy that no dad, it's Friday, it's not Saturday. So uh but yeah, it's uh the state tournament being in Sioux City this last summer was fantastic. A lot of we're getting ready for the national anthem, folks. We'll take a thirty second break and we'll be back.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

I talked to several of them from the Cedar Rapids area. And they said, Yeah, it's nice to wake up in your own bed, but our kids have never really experienced that championship experience by playing in a different facility and staying in a hotel and all that goes with it. And uh we went uh we went all out. We raised money, we started 501c3 uh to raise money, uh had some left over. We're gonna work to bring some more uh sporting events to Sioux City, and we're confident that when the contract comes up in a couple years, that Sioux City will get a look.

SPEAKER_04

That sounds fantastic. I can't say enough about how Security National Bank field is just a really excellent place to play baseball.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was uh it was great last year, a lot of positive comments from uh players, coaches, and fans about that. And you know, we we had that uh weather that popped in a couple times and and put a scare into things, made things difficult, but they had that field ready to go in good playing shape, and uh it was I was happy to be able to be a part of it. Corey Webster and Jay Wright were also on the committee to help get it over here and spearhead everything. And one thing that we talked about on day one is uh basketball and volleyball are much nicer because it's indoors where it's air conditioned. It was hot in July, but it was uh it was it was well worth it. We uh leading up to it, you know, I was over in Iowa City uh the Christmas before, and some some guy we were walking into the Iowa game, and I heard him grumbling that I gotta drive all the way to Sioux City. I can't even sleep in my own bed for a state tournament. And I was polite, I didn't say anything. I wanted to say, well, buddy, that's how it's been for us for 75 years. So uh welcome to our world. But everybody that came over had a great time, uh enjoyed the community, gave rave reviews on how they were treated when they were here. So we put on a good show, and I know the state was very happy with it. And we are getting ready to play baseball, folks. Werheim is on the mound this this game for North. He comes into this game. This okay, he comes into this game with a 1-0 record. He's pitched five innings. Teams are batting 235 against him. He's given up four hits, three runs, two of those earned. He's got one hit by pitch and seven strikeouts with an ERA of 2.80. So he's a solid pitcher. He's he's performed well.

SPEAKER_04

Looks like he strikes out a little over one inning. So he does have some a strikeout pitch.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, he's got one. So we will see what healing can do against this young man as JJ Hope steps in. Here's the wind up in the pitch. In there for strike one. Both teams are gonna have to adjust to a new strike zone here with the different umpire behind the plate.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say we do have a the expected change in umpires here.

SPEAKER_03

JJ reaches out and loops that out into center field for a base hit. Gets the game off to a good start for the Crusaders. JJ Hope on first brings to bat Peyton Erickson.

SPEAKER_04

You know how we talked about in the seventh inning last time about the hitting them where they ain't? That was kind of the same thing. Just a little bit up beyond the shortstop's reach and just in front of the center fielder.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Peyton's really good at placing that ball, and uh he's on base, so that's gonna keep things interesting for the North defense here. Throw over back in plenty of time. And this is where you can rattle a pitcher when you know you've got a guy on base that's got speed and is probably gonna go. Loses his focus on the batter and sometimes struggles. As I say that, that first pitch is in there for a strike. Strike one to Peyton. No balls one strike. Again, we're just getting started. Healing zero, north zero. Lights have just come on here at the baseball complex. Throwback over to first. JJ back in plenty of time. Checks him at first again. Deals to the plate. That pitch drops in there for strike two. I'm gonna guess that when Peyton comes out in the bottom of the first, he's gonna have a polite conversation with the umpire and ask that he gets those same pitches. Peyton's always fun to watch with his body body language.

SPEAKER_04

He's not afraid to discuss something with the umpire.

SPEAKER_03

No, he'll let him know. He's I would have liked to have been in a conversation between him and the home plate umpire in the first game. Those would have been interesting. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike three. So Erickson goes down for the first out. J.J. Hope still at first.

SPEAKER_02

The designated hitter, Caleb LaFaver.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring up designated hitter, Caleb LaFavre. Caleb really hitting the ball here early in the season. Intentionally walked the last game. We'll see what they have planned for him here. There's a huge hole between first and second with the first baseman holding JJ Hope on. JJ goes. Throw down to second. JJ in there safely. Throw was high, but he was gonna beat it anyway. So Hope goes down to second. That first pitch was a ball, I'm thinking. We haven't, yep.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Hadn't seen a signal from the umpire.

SPEAKER_04

He isn't as good as that first umpire was about really noticed yelling out what the call was.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch to Caleb. And they're low for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Caleb's forte is obviously his pitching, but he came into the game hitting 533, so he can hit the ball as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's he's really done a good job making contact this year and putting it in the right spots. Here's a pitch to the plate. That pitch is high and outside for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Shayner would be next, followed by Carroll. It's two balls, one strike, folks. Umpire crossed us up. Now it's three-one, folks. Thanks to the North High scorekeeper up here, he keeps us straight. Three balls, one strike to Caleb. JJ Hope at second. One out. No score so far in the top of the first. Here's the pitch to Caleb. Caleb thought that might have been a ball. Umpire said, that's a strike, young man. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Full count.

SPEAKER_03

Full count on Caleb. This is where he's a tough hitter and a dangerous hitter. Delivers. Hits that ball to sec. The shortstop. Shortstop makes a throw over to first base. Hope will advance to third.

SPEAKER_02

He's gonna bring up the third baseman, number 11, Body Shannon.

SPEAKER_04

You know, we talk a lot about Caleb and his parents, Jeff and Kathy. To those who don't know, and those who are committed to baseball, Jeff, his dad, runs a skills academy that a lot of people really like to use.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, that's 7-1-2 baseball, and I know he's got a lot of teams in that. Ball gets away from the catcher. JJ Hope's gonna score easily from third. Healing takes the lead one to nothing. Yes, my son-in-law who coaches the JV team, he got uh started coaching with Jeff back in the fall, and I'm telling you folks, it is a schedule that they put those kids through. He was gone just about every weekend. There's a lot of baseball being played.

SPEAKER_04

Well, with the two baseball players he's produced, he obviously knows what he's doing.

SPEAKER_03

So yep. He's got something going. Two balls, no strikes to Shaner. Pitch. That ball muscled out to left field. Left fielder settles under it for the third out. Healan is able to get a run across in the top of the first. We'll go to the bottom of the first. Healan leads one to nothing. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_08

What makes your home home? Is it a favorite reading corner? A growth chart on the door frame, a bump bed that doubles the support? Home is that feeling of warmth and safety. A place where you belong. At Security National Bank, we put thoughtful care and attention into helping you find your place. Not just any place, but your home. Because home matters. Security National Bank. Everything matters. Member FDIC.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back. As we've talked about in the past, and we always accentuate, we have such wonderful sponsors. Let me walk through a few more of those. Catholic charities, Central Bank of Sioux City and Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Homes, C-Nos Dr. Ryan Meese, Councilhook Supply Company, Culligan, Cybercloak Tech LLC, Drilling Morningside Pharmacy, Dunes Dental for Kids, Empirical with the Lutch Family, FM Wealth Management with Matt Lawler, who's been a sponsor for many years. Billy and Nate Falk with Falk Brothers Plumbing. Greenville Pharmacy. Greg and Christy Oakham. We thank and honor every one of our sponsors because they're so important to what we do.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they allow us to do what we do and the great things that you folks do. Dylan Knapp on the Mound for Healing here in game two. He comes into this game with a record of 1-0. He's pitched five innings.167 against him. He's given up three hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Hasn't given up a run. So it's a good-looking ERA, 0.00. But this north, uh, this north lineup came in with some hefty batting averages, and uh, it'll be a good test for Dylan here in game two.

SPEAKER_04

They've been kind of jekling hide. If you look at their schedule, they did very well against Lamar's, scored a lot of runs up of Lamar's, but East High kind of took them off off their game a little bit with sweeping them. So and they did real well against Harlan. So they they when they get going, they their bats can really go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, East will knock a lot of people up their games. Although uh East split a doubleheader with Thomas Jefferson last night. East was ahead by six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Thomas Jefferson scored seven to win that game, 16 to 15.

SPEAKER_04

Uh coaching staff at East can't be very happy about that.

SPEAKER_03

Uh well, from what I understand, they only have themselves to blame because when they got way ahead, they decided to pull a bunch of people and put, you know, gave some other kids an opportunity to play. I get that. Uh felt confident that maybe they were, you know, had the game in hand, and TJ said, we've got a different story for you. That pitch is outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

I haven't been following it very closely. Is East ranked in 4A? Is as far as the team ranked in the state?

SPEAKER_03

East is number one.

SPEAKER_04

Are they really? Okay. Interesting.

SPEAKER_03

Three balls, no strikes, the count to White.

SPEAKER_04

If I remember right, Morrisorn City, Floyd Valley was number one as well, weren't they?

SPEAKER_03

Depending on which one you look at. It's if it's Iowa baseball, they're not. Uh another poll has them number one. So interesting. Uh that much like four-pitch walk for White.

SPEAKER_02

First baseman number six, Jack Mogenson.

SPEAKER_03

Much like college football, college basketball, and any other thing, college. There's a bunch of different poles out there, and you just have to pick out which one you're gonna follow and go with it. Yep. That'll bring Moganson to the plate. That pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Mike, you and I both have grandkids who are in junior high sports, and that Moganson family leaves quite a trail of athletes. Yes, they do.

SPEAKER_03

There's a long line of athletes in that family. Runner from first goes. No throwdown by Erickson. Probably wouldn't have got him anyway, so it's one ball, one strike. White settles in at second base. Moganson at the plate. Henry will follow him. Knapp checks the runner at second. Delivers to the plate. Ball is popped up in the infield. JJ Hope settles in it. Under it at shortstop to make the play for the first out.

SPEAKER_02

That brings up your center field at number two. Trey Henry.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring Henry to the plate. He was hit by a pitch, struck out twice, and walked in the first game. Dylan Knapp with the delivery swing and a miss for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, he took a really healthy cut at that, Mike.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he was looking to get it out there. Knapp comes set. Checks the runner at second. Throw to the plate. That ball's hit foul down the left field line. Moravi giving chase. And it is out of play. Great effort there by Mason to get over and try to make a play on that. Wait for him to get back in position.

SPEAKER_04

I think the fans that are over there probably could have caught that, Mike.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, they didn't have to move quite as much as they did in that first game when that one came smoking over their way. Knapp checks a runner at second. Here's the pitch. Runner takes off. Pitch is outside. White able to advance to third base. Count on Henry is one ball, two strikes. Shrunk will follow Henry. That pitch is outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Be good to get a strike out here. And the pitch. That ball bounces in there for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Focus on getting the ball across the plate. North comes into this game with a record of three and three. They're two and three in the Missouri River Activities Conference. And the pitch. That's there for ball four.

SPEAKER_02

Walk to Henry's gonna bring up the catcher number 20. Ellen Shrunk.

SPEAKER_03

Bring Shrunk to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

You know, we talked about this in the first game. That when Erickson sees maybe a flaw or a problem with the delivery or or maybe some anxiousness, he walks out to the pitcher and tries to calm him down. That takes real leadership.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it does. They're having a conversation out there. Just focus on throwing strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan's a young kid too, just a sophomore.

SPEAKER_03

Erickson giving some signals here to the infield.

SPEAKER_04

Think they're running, Mike?

SPEAKER_03

I think they probably will. They'll try to put some pressure on Dylan. Right now he's struggling to find home plate. That ball bounces in there, gets away from Erickson. Not far enough for White to advance. But Henry is able to take second. So we've got one ball, no strikes. North has runners at second and third right now with one out. Healing leads this one one to nothing. North's got some something brewing here in the bottom of the first. Dylan steps off and back on. Come set, and here's the pitch. That's in there for a strike. Strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That's the right delivery.

SPEAKER_03

Need to fool him two more times and get that second out. Dylan deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

He's been running low. I'm wondering if it's his follow-through.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, low and outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, he's right now he's having a hard time locating the strike zone. Three balls, one strike. So Dylan in danger of loading the bases here in the bottom of the first. Pitch is high for ball four. North has loaded the bases here in the bottom of the first. That'll bring Nillis to the plate. Coach Wesselman heading out to have a conversation with Dylan.

SPEAKER_04

Wonder if he's got his release point a little screwed up. Because it seems like he's operating low and outside.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, there's something a little off here, and hopefully this conversation will get it corrected. Coach is done with the meeting, and everybody's heading back to their spots.

SPEAKER_04

There's no question as to whether that kid's a competitor or not, so he's gonna bear down.

SPEAKER_03

We'll see if that conversation is able to make a difference in Dylan's ability to find the strike zone. Pitching from the stretch, he comes set. Delivers home. That's in there for a strike. Good comeback there by Dylan. No balls one strike to Nillis Dylan comes set. Here's the wind in the pitch.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

That was a close pitch, Mike. We're way out down the first baseline, but that looked good from here. But like I said earlier, I haven't missed a call from the stands, the press box, or sitting on the couch at home. So everybody's smarter when they're not the ones behind the plate. Here's the pitch by Dillon. That's in there for strike two. Looked exactly like where that pitch right before it was. We'll take it. One ball, two strikes. Bases loaded for North. One out here in the bottom of the first. Millis fouls it off. Out of play.

SPEAKER_04

It does appear as though he's adjusted his release where it's becoming a much more competitive pitch.

SPEAKER_03

See if he can sneak this next one by him. Dylan doesn't like that first sign. Come set. Batter steps out. Cat and mouse going on here. Dylan delivers to home. That pitch was outside. Two balls, two strikes. No place to put Nillis. The bases are loaded with North stars. Healing leads one to nothing. North is looking to do some damage here in the bottom of the first. We do have one up. That ball hit sharply to hope it short. Double play. Flips it to Beck at second. Over to Lefaver at first to get out of the inning. The old 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. Healan leads one to nothing after one. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_17

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

Just heard the commercial for Bob Rose Point after a North End Zone during that break, and it's Wings Wednesday, and some wings would go good right now, Tim.

SPEAKER_04

Why don't we have any friends who are willing to do that for us, Mike? Yeah, the North End Zone's not that far from us. Anyway, that would be really wonderful. But it's got to be with ranch. That's the only thing I'm gonna do it is with ranch.

SPEAKER_03

They can bring it for you. I I'm the only one in my family that is not a ranch guy. Oh my lord, you are the ranch with fries, ranch with pizza, ranch with this, ranch with that. It's like I don't get it. It's an addiction. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm I'm from Austin, Texas, and at least when I was growing up, they didn't do that down there. I get it. First time I ever heard I was out in Pennsylvania in the 90s for work, and somebody said, Do you want white pizza? What is white pizza? And they said, Well, it's got an Alfredo sauce on it, and I said, No. It's got to have the red pizza sauce, or it's not a pizza, and it had broccoli and everything else. And uh my family will be the first to tell you that me and vegetables uh aren't the closest of friends. Uh, but they keep me keep me honest and make sure that I try to get some in as often as I can.

SPEAKER_04

I would probably agree with that that I am not the greatest vegetable guy in the world, but I do have one passion, and that is raw carrots that I eat with ranch, of course. That would I got that from my granddaughter. She is just very much addicted to that, and I kind of followed trade on that. Tommy Carroll.

SPEAKER_03

Tommy Carroll steps in for healing here in the top of the second. Yeah, my favorite way to eat raw carrots is with the Thousand Island dressing from Archie's up in Lamar's. There you go. Yeah, that's that's the best Thousand Island dressing in the world. I've if if I could buy that by the gallon, I would be a happy man.

SPEAKER_04

Who says we don't promote the Tom Lamar's? Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

First pitch to Tommy as a strike. Yeah, we John told me on the way up here, on the way up to Orange City on Monday, he almost called me and said, I'll meet you at Bob's and Lamar's. You can pick me up there. Oh, Bob's swing and a miss by Carroll for strike two.

SPEAKER_04

That is a staple in the Lamar's community, that is for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, it is. If you're going to Lamar's, you got three places that you have to hit when you go, and you may have to get a hotel room because you'll be too tired to drive. That pitch outside for ball one, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Well, if my wife is listening, she absolutely knows, and I absolutely know, that ice cream is her favorite thing in the world. And she would go to Wells Ice Cream Center if it was her last day on earth.

SPEAKER_03

Nothing wrong with that. We uh we'll go up to Archie's and have a big meal, and that's just on the way out of town from Archie's. He's swing by and catch the ice cream store and very much so. Carroll hits that sharply between third and short for a single. He'll stop at first base.

SPEAKER_04

Tommy really puts the bat the ball. His his uh his bat the ball skills are excellent.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's got good eye, uh hand-eye coordination, is able to make good contact, brings up Nathan Gaswin, who had a really nice hit uh that hopefully he can build on as we go forward.

SPEAKER_04

Tommy had a real nice first game, too.

SPEAKER_03

Pitcher delivers. That's in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Pitcher checks Carroll at first, throws over. Oh Tommy back in plenty of time.

SPEAKER_04

Probably closer than what we'd like to be. He's got a couple step lead, but he's not taking much.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch to Gaswent. Bounces in there for ball one, one ball, one strike. Should be hearing from John Tritz here shortly with the soccer final. He's sure he's involved in the celebration and will get it to us whenever he can.

SPEAKER_04

With a five to one lead, I hope they wouldn't give that up.

SPEAKER_03

I would hope not.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh.

SPEAKER_03

Nathan liked that one, but held off swinging. It's one ball, two strikes. Curl at first, no outs here in the top of the second. Healing leads this one one to nothing. Pitch to the plate. Gaswin pops that one up. Catcher giving chase. Oh had it in his had it in his mitt and dropped it. So and a lot of times when you see that, the next pitch turns out to be a base hit. I know that uh if anybody out there is Arkansas Razorback fans, they have PTSD from College World Series drop fly balls that have cost Arkansas probably two national championships.

SPEAKER_04

So I do remember that. We are a staple at the College World Series every year.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they are. There's the pitch. Pitch is high. Carroll takes off. He's in there. Ball goes out into center field, but Carroll holds it second. So Carroll advances to second on the stolen base. Count goes to two balls, two strikes to Nathan. Ball must have scuffed up when it hit the dirt. They're throwing it out of play and getting a new one. Gaswent ready to step back in. Here's the windup and the pitch. Swing and a miss by Gaswent. Took a good cut there, just wasn't able to put the bat on the ball for the first strike for the first out.

SPEAKER_02

Strikeout is going to bring up the third Argentine. Aiden LeFavre.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring Aiden LeFavre to the plate. Did a nice job of hitting in that first game. Another one that we can see if he can build on that. Steps in from the right side. Brother bats from the left side. Balls low for ball one. Delivers to the plate. Lefaver hits that ball, but shortstop's able to make a play on it. Carroll takes off for third and is thrown out at third base.

SPEAKER_02

That'll bring up second baseman number 13. Chase Beck.

SPEAKER_03

I think he thought that ball was going to get through, and by the time he took off, it was too late. Right. That'll bring Beck to the plate. Aiden Lefaver at first, two outs. Healing leads one to nothing.

SPEAKER_04

Like we talked about earlier. I don't mind aggressive base running. That that shows that we're into the game and we can aggressively, you know, take the extra base if we have to.

SPEAKER_03

First pitch into Chase for a strike. No balls, one strike. Delivery of the plate. That pitch is in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes to Chase. Two outs. Aiden Lefaver at first base. Healing leads one to nothing in the bottom or the top of the second. Throw over to first. Aiden back in plenty of time. Throw over first again. Aiden just gets back.

SPEAKER_04

That was tight.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely closer than Healing fans would like.

SPEAKER_04

I think he's taking about a two-step lead.

SPEAKER_03

There's the pitch. That's in there for strike three. So Healing gets a couple guys on, unable to capitalize. We will go to the bottom of the second. Healing leads one to nothing. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_07

SPEAKER_12

You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Ponka Sioux City, and KOIA Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

I will confirm that it is Friday at Memorial, but I believe that's what he told me. North will send Werheim, Whitney, and Hagen to the mount or to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I understand what the statistics show as far as the pitcher for North, but he doesn't seem to pop the glove. But so he must be having some pretty good movement on his pitches.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's he's definitely fooling uh the Healing batters with those pitches. You're right, there's not a lot of velocity.

SPEAKER_04

So he must have a good curveball or slider or sweeper or something that's that's really got some good movement to it.

SPEAKER_02

You're pitching on one.

SPEAKER_03

Leading off for North will be Wareheim, the pitcher. Again, he'll be followed by Whitney and Hagan. Dylan deals the first pitch. Hit to Beck at second. He feels it cleanly, throws over to Favor at first for the first out.

SPEAKER_02

That'll bring up left fielder number 11, Cortland Whitney.

SPEAKER_03

One out for North. Whitney up. He'll be followed by Hagan. We are in the bottom of the second inning. Healon leads this one one to nothing. You know, last week Healan had a couple blowout wins, and then the second game of the double header was turned out to be one run game. So don't let the score of the first game fool you folks. This could be a close one based on last week's history. Here's the pitch by Dylan. Pitch foul back into the fence for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

He's much more around the plate after that adjustment by the coach in the first inning.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch from Dylan that bounces in there for ball one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

I jinxed him. Just as they said that, they came back to hitting the ground with it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, these pitchers are good at making us look like uh that pitch is outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

I do a lot of stupid things that uh make me look like don't know what I'm doing anyway. So following through with this is just very appropriate.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

There we go.

SPEAKER_03

Grounded to hope it's short. Bounces into the Aiden at first base. Aiden's not able to hold on to it. Whitney gets on.

SPEAKER_02

Whitney reaches on the air to bring up your right fielder number 21, Andrew Hagan.

SPEAKER_03

That brings Andrew Hagan to the plate. North has Whitney at first with one out.

SPEAKER_04

Obviously, there's three phases to baseball hitting, pitching. But defense at this level is very important.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is, and it's uh those are tough hops. Again, we have to remember he's just an eighth grader going into ninth grade. Right. That first pitch to Hagan is low and outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. One ball, one strike. Dylan deals for the plate. That pitch fouled off. One ball, two strikes. Good cut there by Hagan. Whitney on first. McCormick will be up next. That is caught looking for strike three. Good pitch there by Dillon. On the outside corner.

SPEAKER_02

And really in a spot where the batter couldn't get to it.

SPEAKER_04

If he would have reached for it, he would have rolled it over. Would have been a ground ball third base or short.

SPEAKER_03

Brings McCormick to the plate, two outs. Healon leads one to nothing, bottom of the second. Dylan steps off. Whitney not taking much of a lead over there, so Whitney takes off. Erickson hard time getting out of the glove. If he gets that out of his glove cleanly, Whitney is out at second base. Bottled it in the switching from mit to hand. That first pitch was a strike, so it's no balls, one strike. Whitney advances down to second base on the stolen base. Dylan deals to the plate. Low for ball one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

One of the good things about the second game versus the first game is we lost that 91-92 degree heat. So it's very much more comfortable right now.

SPEAKER_03

And it's a pretty still night. There's just a little bit of a breeze. Here's the pitch by Knapp. That was behind the batter. Dylan won that inside corner way inside. Two balls, one strike. Two outs. Runner at second. Healing leads one to nothing. Swing and a miss for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Two outs. Whitney at second base. White would be next up if McCormick is able to extend this inning. There it is. That's a called third strike. That will be the third out of the inning. North leaves one stranded. We're at the end of two. Healing one, North zero. We will be back for the top of the third in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_09

Hi, Christy and Dave here from Sneakies. Having friends over to watch the big game, you're gonna need some serious munchies. Just call Sneaky's Carryout at 252-0522 to make it a great tailgate with delicious chicken, ribs, hot wings, fresh-made salads, and homemade dressings.

SPEAKER_10

Sneaky's is perfect. Give the fans our carryout number again.

SPEAKER_09

252-0522. Call 15 minutes ahead, and Sneaky's Carryout will have your game day grub ready to go when you arrive.

SPEAKER_10

Friends, football, and great food from Sneakies for the Win.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

As we just heard what a benefactor that Sneakies is for us, we have a long line of sponsors who follow that path. Greg and Christy Yoko, Greken Family ICare, Heideman Law Firm and Ross Cope, Heinmann Family Dentistry, I'm on Communications, JMJ Coins and Collectibles, Jimmy Johns, Keller Williams Real Estate Agent, Tammy Bertrand, Joe Cruz and the Cruz Financial Group, Lawler Fixtures, Liberty National Bank, and Lifeform. We appreciate all of our sponsors. And if you get the opportunity to buy and patronize the products of our sponsors, please do. They're very important to us and they produce what you're hearing every night.

SPEAKER_03

And speaking of appreciation, really appreciate Grace back in the studio keeping us on the air. But I'm going to ask Grace to start spacing those food commercials out and don't do Bob Rose and Sneakies back to back. Now I'm really hungry. I could go for some sneaky's chicken here. First pitch. Popped up to the first baseman. One pitch, one out.

SPEAKER_04

Grace is just a lovely high school student, and she doesn't know that old men think about food all the time.

SPEAKER_03

They're very patient. They know they got a couple of old guys doing this most of the time, and they hold our hand, do a really good job. Brings JJ Hope to the plate. That pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike to JJ. JJ singled it last time up. Tries to drag bunt that. No balls, two strikes. JJ's solid hitter and dangerous hitter with two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Well, he's a very dangerous man if you get him on the bases because he can really run.

SPEAKER_03

He can get a lot of things started. Pitch high for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Pitcher steps off. Now back. On the rubber. Wind up. Here's the pitch. JJ fouls that off out of play.

SPEAKER_04

I'd like to throw a shout out to the people back at the station that don't get mentioned very often. Ann Reed, our program director, so important to what we're doing. Liz Determan, marketing director, very important to getting the word out about our product. Al Metz, one of the salespeople, very conf confident person who shows us the way and gets us involved in several things. As we mentioned before.

unknown

Thank you.

SPEAKER_04

The other people involved would be Grace Tott, and the other one would be Jack Stevens. Very important piece of what we're trying to do. I can't emphasize enough. Us on app people get talked about. They're the people who really drive the bus.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they are. They're the ones who keep it going. And plus, I know you, me, and John have faces for radio, so that's a line shot out in the center field over second baseman. Yep. JJ Hope, two for two this game. JJ at first, one out. That'll bring Peyton Erickson to the plate. We're in the top of the third. Healing leads this one one to nothing.

SPEAKER_04

And if I know JJ, he's gonna have a two-three-step lead here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I would imagine that they're gonna try to manufacture a run here some way, somehow. Throw over to first. JJ able to get back.

SPEAKER_04

JJ does a really good job of that, of recognizing when the pitcher's gonna make his move and jumps back. I think he would be very hard to pick off.

SPEAKER_03

Throw over to first again. Just got under that tag. That was close, folks. That was very close. And I did get confirmation from John Tritz. The Healan boys will play Friday at 7 at Memorial Field. Well, Peyton squares around, pitches inside, he's able to avoid it. Got one ball, no strikes to Peyton. JJ Hope at first.

SPEAKER_04

So you fans can make it a double healing night. You got West Lyon at baseball at Bishop Mueller Field at 4 o'clock, and you can go pitch up uh pick up the butt soccer game after that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, there's there's a full day of opportunity for Bishop Healing Sports on Friday. And the Healing Girls softball team has their tournament this weekend. Uh I met their coach today. She came in to Council Oak Coffee Supply, and we had an interview lined up for Friday morning, and then she remembered that she had two appointments, one at nine and one at 9:30. And uh the one before the four o'clock game uh wasn't gonna work mainly because if games before that run long, you're not quite sure when that four o'clock game is gonna start, and she's got softball to coach, right? JJ takes off. That ball hit to the third baseman. Erickson.

SPEAKER_04

No, he's off. He's off.

SPEAKER_03

First baseman was pulled off the bag. So runners at first and second.

SPEAKER_02

One out.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring up Caleb Lefaver.

SPEAKER_04

JJ Hope was already running on that ground ball, so he was already pretty much at second. But the throw from the third baseman pulled off the first baseman off the back.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the North Coach is having a discussion with the home plate umpire. He thinks that maybe Peyton turned and offered to go to second base instead of turning toward the fence, and the umpire said, no, that's not the case. Uh Heaton comes in to pinch run for Erickson. So we've got Hope at second. Heaton at first. And Caleb Lefaver steps in. First base and not holding Heaton on. That pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Deals to the plate. Caleb hits that back up the middle. That's gonna score hope from second. Heaton will hold it. Second base. That makes the score two to nothing, Healen. Still runners at first and second. With only one out. That will bring Shaner to the plate.

SPEAKER_02

Third baseman, number 11, Bernie Schainer.

SPEAKER_03

Mr. Reliable Caleb Lefaver comes through again.

SPEAKER_04

Very nice RBI single right up the middle.

SPEAKER_03

Schayner looking for the opportunity to add to the heel and lead here. There's a pitch. That's in there for strike one. One ball, or no balls, one strike. That ball bounces in, gets away from the catcher. Both runners will advance. Heat into third. Caleb Lefaver to second. So Shaner has two opportunities for RBIs here. Try to expand this healing lead, which is currently two to nothing in the top of the third. One out for the Crusaders. Wind up in the pitch. Just off the plate. Two balls, one strike. That's in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Brody needs to bear down here. Make contact with the ball, put it in play. Make that defense. He pops that one up. Second baseman. Floats back.

SPEAKER_04

And here comes Tommy the hitman, Carroll.

SPEAKER_03

That is absolutely right. Bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. He had a single his first time up.

SPEAKER_04

He's been producing nothing but base hits tonight.

SPEAKER_03

Thrown out at third on that hit that looked like it was going to get past a shortstop. I'm sure he'd probably like to atone for that that mistake there. That first pitch was in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. That ball. He lined it, bounced right in front of the second baseman. He was able to scoop it and make the play.

SPEAKER_04

Sure looked like it was going to get through, but it didn't.

SPEAKER_03

For the third out. It definitely looked like uh at least one RBI there for Tommy. At the end of two and a half, it's a Crusaders two, the stars zero. We will be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_17

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

Heading to the bottom of the third. Two to nothing. North will have the top of the batting order up. It'll be White, Mogenson, and Henry to lead off for the stars. Later night than I thought it would be. I think I might get home after I got home from MLC the other night at this point.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I was telling my wife we expect Tim, and we might be a little harder than that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's it's gonna be we're gonna be hard pressed to meet that time, but uh it's fun being out here, being able to watch these kids play baseball and uh relay the information and the action back to everybody listening out there. And I know Tim appreciates it, John and I appreciate it when we see you folks, the kind words uh that you share with us about enjoying listening to the games. And again, don't be afraid if you've got tips, pointers, things you want us to bring up, uh get it to the station, they'll get it to us, and we'll be happy to talk about it. Second baseman Nolan White steps in. He walked the first time up, reached third, but was unable to score. Knapp delivers the first pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Dylan working rather quickly. Here's pitch number two. Low and outside, ball one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Dillon worked himself into trouble in the first inning, got out of it, and the second inning was much cleaner. Let's hope this one is as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, he's come back really well. Pitch just inside for a ball. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, he really settled down that second inning.

SPEAKER_04

There's a fly ball that I believe is gonna get caught.

SPEAKER_03

Fly ball out to Gaswent right field. He settles under it for the first out.

SPEAKER_02

That brings up first baseman. Number six, Jack Mogensen.

SPEAKER_03

Jack Moganson steps in. Jack in the first game. Let's hop back here. I believe he was hit by pitch twice. Yeah, the first two times up, he was hit by pitch. Uh reached on an error by the second baseman, and also had a single. So he's probably enjoying not getting hit.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I think both of them were on the back, so if you're gonna get hit, I think that's probably the place you want to get hit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and we we talked about it. We figured one of those probably left a stitch mark in his back. That second pitch in there for a ball, two balls, no strikes. Here's the pitch from Knapp. In there for a called strike, strike one, two balls, one strike. He did have a big smile on his face when he ran down to first base after that first HBP. So tough kid. Just inside. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think they're doing it quite as much with Dillon as they did with Caleb Favor, where they were crowding the plate so much. If you look at their little bit stepping back from the white line this time.

SPEAKER_03

Swing and a miss.

SPEAKER_04

Because all those hit by pitch in the first game were totally driven by the fact that they were crowding the box.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they were right on top of that plate, like John had said. They kind of wiped out that batter's box line right near home plate and were able to crowd it. That pitch fouled off.

SPEAKER_04

And I guess I I would be curious to see what the coaching philosophy was there because if they were trying to reach the outside pitch, I get it.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, it makes it tough. You're not gonna reach that outside pitch, but Caleb, Caleb was not gonna give them that inside corner. He was not. He did not give up. That pitch was high for a ball, so Mogenson gets on with the walk. That brings Henry to the plate. Shrunk would be up next. Bottom of the third. Crusaders lead two to nothing.

SPEAKER_04

Henry's hit a lot of loud foul balls. I hope he doesn't straighten one out.

SPEAKER_03

He's made a lot of good contact. They just haven't been in play. Dylan settles in. Pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Throw over to first, Moganson back in time. Another throw over to first. Moganson back again. Dillon comes set. Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled off. Strike one, one ball, one strike. Again, shrunk would follow Henry. And if the ending gets extended, Nillis would be up after that. Here's a pitch by Dylan. Low and outside. Ball two. Two balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. That pitch is in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. That was a nice pitch. That was a really nice pitch. Henry thought about it, didn't swing, and called second strike. Dillon checks over at first base. Comes set. Here's the pitch. Runner takes off. That ball's lined out. Gaswin makes a great attempt out there. Try to make a diving catch. Mogenson will score all the way from first. The throw home gets past the catcher. And we'll go all the way. And we've got a little league home run here, folks. The Crusaders decided to throw the ball around. And North scores two runs on that little league home run.

SPEAKER_04

That defense was very unhaling-like.

SPEAKER_03

Very unhaling-like. They weren't going to get the guy at home, and they decided to try to throw, and it went way over Peyton's head. And when that happened, runner took off to third, and they threw it down to third, got away from the third baseman. And we have a new ball game. It's north two, healing two. We're in the bottom of the third. Stars have only one out. Shrunk steps in.

SPEAKER_04

This is the first lead for the Stars tonight in both games.

SPEAKER_03

That pitch is in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. I'm guessing he would love to have that one back. It was a great effort on his part.

SPEAKER_04

Fantastic effort. But the ball slid by him a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

One ball, one two balls, one strike to count. To shrunk. North has scored two runs here in the bottom of the third to tie this game up two to two. That pitch in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Dylan needs to come back with that same pitch there and get the third out the second out. Ball skips in there for ball three. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. That pitch is outside for ball four.

SPEAKER_02

Based on balls is gonna bring up the designated hitter number 19, Joe Nillis.

SPEAKER_03

Nillis comes to the plate. North Third base coach coming down and having a conversation with Nillis. Nillis has got a good batting average. He's got some pops, so he could do some damage here at this bat. Dylan needs to settle back down and get back to the way he pitched in the second inning. Here's the pitch to the plate. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. He just joined us. It's North 2, Healing 2. We're in the bottom of the third inning. North has a runner on first with one out. Nillis at the plate. He fouls that pitch off and out of play. No balls, two strikes. Be nice if Dylan could sneak one by him here.

SPEAKER_04

That was the pitch Nillis wanted. I think he was right on it.

SPEAKER_03

He was right on it, just a little bit under it. Here's the pitch by Dillon. Low and outside. Ball won. One ball, two strikes. Millis steps back in. Dillon delivers to the plate. Swing and a miss for strike three. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night on that one. That's out number two.

SPEAKER_02

Max Wirheim.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring Wirheim to the plate. He's the pitcher. Grounded out second to first, his first time up. Two outs here. Tie game two to two. Runner at first base for the stars. The pitch. That pitch is fouled off. Strike one. No balls, one strike. Here's the pitch by Dillon. Bounces into Peyton. Throws down to first. Not able to get the runner. Who's back safely? One ball, one strike. The runner was way off. A little bit better throw by Peyton to the inside of the bag would have had him probably. Nonetheless, it's one ball, one strike. Runner remains at first base. There's a pitch by Dillon. That skips over Hope's glove out at shortstop into center field. Stars have runners at first and second with two outs. They are tied with the Crusaders two to two here in the bottom of the third. Whitney steps in. Got on by an error by the shortstop first time up. Dillon delivers. Ball bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. North high dugout giving all kinds of encouragement to Dylan. That pitch is in there for a strike, strike one. One ball, one strike. Runners of first and second for the stars. Two outs here in the bottom of the third. They've scored two to tie it. Two to two. That pitch just outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

I think he hit the mit. Erickson had set up outside. I think he hit the mit, but it was just a tat outside of the plate.

SPEAKER_03

Dillon looks in and comes set. And the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Hagan would be up next, should Whitney extend the inning. Dylan Deals. Low and outside. That brings the count full. The runners will be off with the pitch. Definitely do not want them to hit this into an area where there's not a healing player right now because that would probably produce at least one run.

SPEAKER_04

Got him.

SPEAKER_03

Dylan threw back to second base, was able to pick him off at second base.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Wonderful play.

SPEAKER_03

Got shrunk at second base for the third out. North scores two runs. We're heading to the fourth. It's Bishop Elan two, the North stars two. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

As we always do, we try to thank our sponsors. They're very important to what we're trying to do and very important to your listening capabilities. Modern-day Parish, who sponsors our masks that we produce every Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. McClintock Insurance, Meyer Brothers Funeral Home, Mill Shellhammer Pitts, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Mollet Industrial Group, My Jeweler, Myra Favor State Farm Agency, Neil Pfeiffer, Knights of Columbus Insurance Agency, New Crib Inspection, People's Banks to City, Prime Bank, and Queen of Peace. They're warming up pitches for the next inning. Healan will be sending up.

SPEAKER_03

Gaswent, Aiden LaFaver, and Chase Beck to get things started here in the fourth inning. Healan had a 2-0 lead. North was able to push two across in the last inning to tie the game at 2-2.

SPEAKER_02

Leading off the top of the fourth inning for Healing, right fielder number 10 from Gaswent.

SPEAKER_03

Gaswent steps in. Next pitch. Outside for ball one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Again, his call to fame is pitching, but he can hit better than what he's hit so far this year.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's a much better hitter than what he showed, and I'm sure it's going to come around. Pops that one up over our way.

SPEAKER_04

Mike, is that coming to us?

SPEAKER_03

First baseman makes the play at first base right up against the lower part of the press box. If I'd have known that, I'd have pulled a Bartman and reached out and tried to Aiden LaFaver.

SPEAKER_04

That's probably what would have happened on that one.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring Aiden LeFaver to the plate. One out here in the top of the fourth. First pitch to Aiden. Low and inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Got to get some base runners, Mike.

SPEAKER_03

Got to find a way to get runners on and get some runs across. North is not going to go away. Pitch in there to Aiden for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Like I said, this kid doesn't pop the mit very much, but he's got some movement on his pitches. You can see the moving from here.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch to Aiden. Bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, this is a solid North High pitching staff. They're gonna give people fits as the season goes on. Here's the pitch to Aiden. Inside. Brings the count to three balls, one strike, one out. Top of the fourth inning. Crusaders two, stars two. Beck would be up next. Here's the pitch to Aiden. Lines that out to right field. Right fielder started in, froze, and ended up being hit right to him.

SPEAKER_02

Out number two. Chase Beck.

SPEAKER_03

Good contact there by Aiden. Just wasn't able to put it where someone wasn't. That'll bring Beck to the plate. He struck out his last time up.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I was having conversations at the station today, and they were wondering why public school games started at 5 30 and Healing Bishop Mueller game starts at 4. And I said, I I believe it's the lights.

SPEAKER_03

It's the lights.

SPEAKER_04

It's Bishop Mueller does not have lights, so the public school stadiums do have some level of lighting, so they can head into the evening very far.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. And it it started to get a little bit dark last week. Uh on Thursday night. Oh, did it? Yeah, we we were able to get it in, but uh it was getting close. Counts one ball, one strike to chase. Two outs here in the top of the fourth. Crusaders two, stars two.

SPEAKER_04

We're gonna have to market the people at Briar Cliff to put some lights on their baseball field.

SPEAKER_03

That would be nice. Here's the pitch. Low for ball two, two balls, one strike. Although when you have long games like this, that four and six o'clock start aren't too bad. Right. Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Knapp would be up next if Beck is able to extend this inning. Here's the windup in the pitch. Got caught looking for strike three. That's the third out. We'll head to the bottom of the fourth. Crusaders two, stars two. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

We are back at Butts P Raw Field. I am Mike Stags, joined by Tim Squadin. In the bottom of the fourth, the North Stars will send Whitney, Hagan, and McCormick to the plate. We need a breeze up here, Tim.

SPEAKER_04

We do. We do. But it is sure nicer than it was in the first game.

SPEAKER_03

It's funny when I go stand down by this other window, there's a little bit of a breeze. When I'm down here, there's not one.

SPEAKER_04

I think that has to do with that being the north side of the press box versus the heat side of the press box.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely could be.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I'm one of those people that is a glutton for punishment, and I just checked out the major league scores, and my twins lost 15-2, so it's a very difficult evening.

SPEAKER_03

That is a tough tough evening.

SPEAKER_02

Number 11, Cortland Whitney.

SPEAKER_03

Whitney steps in. Reached on an error his last time up. Dylan Knapp back out on the mound to start this fourth inning. Healing 5-1 on the season, 5-0 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. That first pitch is in there. Foul back for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

As we talked about earlier, I believe the Missouri River Athletic Conference is probably going to run through morningside.

SPEAKER_03

It very well could. Two balls, two strikes. Pitch, swing and a miss for strike three. That's the first out for the stars here in the bottom of the fourth.

SPEAKER_02

Andrew Hagan.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring Andrew Hagan to the plate. He struck out looking his last first and only time up.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan's had some strikeouts. Most of them have been looking. This last one was a swing, so that makes me feel better about what he's throwing.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled off for strike one. No balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. That's inside, gets away from Peyton for a ball. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

We got something like that going along along this street here.

SPEAKER_03

The only difference is if you're sitting up behind the first base dugout, you paid to get in here.

SPEAKER_04

That's true.

SPEAKER_03

If you're sitting up on outer belt, you did not. So that would be the north side version of Cheapskate Hill. Count moves to three balls, one strike. Probably a little bit more of a breeze up there on both those hills than what we have right here. You got that right. That pitch hit.

SPEAKER_04

That's gonna be a long throw.

SPEAKER_03

JJ makes a good stop. Keep it from going to the outfield, but not able to get Hagan at first base, infield single.

SPEAKER_02

Number three, Howley McCormick.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring McCormick to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

He had to go a long way in the hole for that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was a great effort on his part just to even get to the ball.

SPEAKER_04

It was, it was. He would have had to have a really gun to get that guy at first.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely. McCormick at the plate. White would be next. McCormick steps in from the left side. Dillon checks a runner at first. And the pitch. Bunts it. Dillon makes a diving attempt at it, unable to field it. In the air. Infield hit from McCormick. So the Stars have something cooking here. They've got runners at first and second with one out. And that brings the top of the order up. White will step in. That's double-edged sword there. If he catches that, he's able to throw the runner out at first who took off to second. If he lets it bounce in front of him, he's sure to get one out.

SPEAKER_04

He sure made an excellent effort after it. That's for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he did. I think the grass may be maybe getting just a little bit slick out there. Stars with runners at first and second. Knapp looks back to second. Batter squares around a bunt. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. North trying to bunt these runners into scoring position and make something happen in this inning. Dillon delivers to the plate. That was just outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Healing will have Knapp, Hope, and Erickson to lead off the fifth inning when we get there, folks.

SPEAKER_04

Very excited to have that top of the order. JJ always tried to make things happen.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike two. This umpire, strike one, I'm sorry, this umpire must be getting tired. He's getting slower and slower with his calls. Of course, he's got all that gear on it. It is hot out there. Dylan looks back to second, delivers to the plate. That's in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Good pitch. Really nice pitch. Really good pitch by Dillon there.

SPEAKER_03

See if he can fool him on this one and get that third strike and that second out. Neither runner being held on. Aiden LeFavre playing behind the runner at first. Dillon delivers. That's line to Aiden LaFaver who steps on the bag for a double play. Unassisted double play by the young man there.

SPEAKER_04

That's the second time today, tonight in the second game. We've gotten out of the inning with a double play. So that was very, very nice.

SPEAKER_03

And those are the pitcher's best friend, folks. We're gonna head to the fifth inning. Crusaders two, stars two. We will be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

Well, the stars were able to get two runners on in that bottom of the fourth inning. Healan was able to get out of that with a line drive to aid LaFaver at first base. He went over and stepped on the bag for the double play to retire the side. And as I said, it'll be Dylan Knapp, JJ Hope, and Peyton Erickson coming to the plate here in the top of the fifth.

SPEAKER_04

Do we have any idea where Mr. Wehrheim is with his pitch count?

SPEAKER_03

I do not know for sure. There's been some foul balls and things like that in there. I'm guessing he's got to be getting up there.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I'm thinking. Number 22, Dylan.

SPEAKER_03

Dilly steps in. See if he can get something going here and help his cause. Third baseman and first baseman playing way back. He squares. Bunts it down to the third baseman. Dylan's got some good speed. Not even going to make a throw. Dillon beats that out.

SPEAKER_04

Very nice.

SPEAKER_03

And I would like to tell you that I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunt here, Tim, but I don't know if anybody would believe me. So I'm just going to say Dillon's on first with some speed, and we've got speed at the plate with JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe not a straight out steal, but maybe a hit and run.

SPEAKER_03

Quite possibly. And they're playing on the grass down at third base for JJ. First baseman holding Dillon on at first. Got some action down the heel and bullpen, but I can't tell who it is.

SPEAKER_04

It's a right-hander, I will tell you that. Who's number four?

SPEAKER_03

That would be Alex Rodriguez. So we'd have A-Rod possibly coming in. Maybe he's just trying to keep that arm loose in case he needs to.

SPEAKER_13

There you go.

SPEAKER_03

Runner delivers or pitcher delivers to the plate. You were right. JJ fouls that off for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

You've watched these guys enough that you understand Jacob Wesselman's philosophy here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's when you've got speed, you try to use it every chance you get. No doubt about it. They've definitely got it. He was looked like he was trying to push that between the pitcher and the third baseman. JJ steps back in. Throw over to first. Dylan back in plenty of time. North Hide dugout, giving their help to the umpire on that one. Pitcher looks over at Dillon, delivers to the plate. Pitches high, throw down to first. Dylan back in plenty of time. Whoa. That was a little bit of a hard tag on Dylan. That was a bit of a hard tag.

SPEAKER_04

He might have a bruise after that.

SPEAKER_03

The umpires having a conversation. Healing players chirping a little bit. The umpires said, I got it. Tone it down over there. Two balls, one strike to count to JJ. He lines that to the shortstop. Dylan's able to get back and avoid the double play. Good play by the shortstop there.

unknown

Peyton Erickson.

SPEAKER_03

He hit the ball hard. He did. Second out. Just hit it right at the kid. Right at him. Brings Peyton Erickson to the plate. Peyton struck out his first time up, singled his last time up. Sure hope we can manufacture a run here with Dillon on the base pass. There's the pitch to Peyton. Low and outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

I wonder if there's a particular pitch that would make sense as far as him running.

SPEAKER_03

I wouldn't be surprised to go him here and see him go in the next couple just to try to. There he goes. Pitches outside. Throw down. Gets past the second baseman.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Knapp in there safely with the steal. Healing has a runner in scoring position with one out. One out. Erickson at the plate. LeFaver would be up next. Here's the pitch. That pitch is in there for a strike. Two balls, one strike. To Peyton. LeFaver would be next, and Shayner would follow him if we're able to extend the inning. Dylan goes. Pitches high. Dylan steals that base safely. So Dylan Knapp. Two stolen bases in this inning. We now have a three-one count on Erickson. Lefaver would follow.

SPEAKER_04

Well, they say speed kills, so we have a bunt single and two stolen bases to get Dylan the third. So I think that's a very accurate statement.

SPEAKER_03

Apparently, we had the wrong count from the umpire because it's now full count.

SPEAKER_04

He's changed that a couple times.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's done that to us a couple times. Keep us on our toes. Here's the pitch. Peyton hits the fly ball out to center field.

SPEAKER_04

That'll be a sack fly.

SPEAKER_03

White will settle under it.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan will get home. Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Dillon will score from third. Good job of hitting there by Peyton. That will bring the run across. Healan now leads three to two. We are in the top of the fifth. Brings up Caleb LeFavor. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened there if Erickson would have been able to get on. You got runners at first and third. Yep. To see if they would have walked Caleb intentionally to try to set up a force at any base.

SPEAKER_04

Dillon pretty much created that run all on his own.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, he did. That pitch low for ball one. One ball, no strikes. They did intentionally walk Caleb in the first game. Grounded out short to first. First time up. Singled his last time up. Stranded at second. That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. Shaner do up next. Caleb lines that out between left and center. That's in the gap. Caleb's going to be running for a while. They're going to hold him at second base. A double for LeFavre.

SPEAKER_04

They got that ball back in pretty quick. Yes, they did. That went all the way to the fence.

SPEAKER_03

Healing leads this one 3-2. We're in the top of the fifth. LeFaver just doubled. Brody Shaner coming to the plate. Hoping to be able to increase this lead. Shayner extends the inning. Tommy Carroll would be up after that. I cannot wait to see the new stats tomorrow and see what Caleb's batting average is. It's got to be up over 600 now.

SPEAKER_04

You're right. He's had a good night.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch to Shaner. It's in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Wouldn't we just be lost without bound?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we would. If you like the old days, you'd have to handwrite everything in yourself and calculate it. Yep. Here's the pitch to Shaner. That pitch is over his head for ball one, one ball, one strike. Coach Taylor gonna come down and have a brief conversation with Brody. Pitch to Shaner. That pitch is outside. Brings the count to two and one. Again, Carroll would be up next if Shaner's able to extend this inning. Tommy having a good night at the plate. Pitch. Shaner lines that one out to left field. It's over the left fielder's head. It's all the way to the fence, folks. Shaner digging for two. He's in there. LaFaver will score from second. That makes a score four to two Crusaders. And Shaner just said, I'll take your place out there. Let's switch spots to LeFaver. So LeFavor scores, makes a score four to two. We're in the top of the fifth inning. And that brings Tommy Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Two really well-struck balls.

SPEAKER_03

Those are hard-hit balls, folks.

SPEAKER_04

What are we talking to? Did he miss first base?

SPEAKER_03

They're thinking that Shayner missed first base, so the throwover. First baseman steps on the bag. The umpire says, Nope, he got it. And this is an umpire who doesn't like it when the catcher goes out to talk to the pitcher because he wants the game to keep moving. But I guess if the coach asks for an appeal, you got to give it to him.

SPEAKER_04

I see that side of it. I don't think.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch. Good cut there by Tommy. Just fouls that off for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Of all the players we want at the bat this evening, I'd say Tom's the right one. Yeah, right now Tom's had a good night.

SPEAKER_03

Shanner out at second. Gas wins due up. Gas went is due up after Carroll. Should Tommy be able to extend this inning some more? Here's the pitch into Carroll. Over his head for ball one, one ball, one strike. I'd like it if he dropped that bat a little faster. It was far enough back there that he could have fouled it off behind his head. Right. Here's the pitch. Outside. He called it a strike? Oh, well, he fooled me. That's one ball, two strikes. He was really late with that call. One ball, two strikes. Shayner at second. Carroll at the plate. Two outs. Healing leads four to two, top of the fifth. Hagan steps off. Gonna get things started again.

SPEAKER_04

I was asking about his pitch count because it looks like he's pitching different now than he was in the first inning.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch. Fouled off by Carroll. Good contact there. Just wasn't able to get it to go straight.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm wondering if he's getting tired. I guess is what I'm asking.

SPEAKER_03

He could be getting just a little bit tired. Between the pitch count and the heat out there. Yep. There's the pitch to Carroll. Tommy fouls that one off.

SPEAKER_04

Back this way again.

SPEAKER_03

Good at bat here by Tommy. Extending the at-bat and forcing the pitcher to throw some extra pitches.

SPEAKER_04

The additional pitches are always to the benefit of the batter.

SPEAKER_03

Long look. Here's the pitch to Carroll. He pops that one over our way again. First baseman making another run at it.

unknown

He okay?

SPEAKER_04

Did he catch it?

SPEAKER_03

He did catch it. He did catch it. Carroll pops out to the first baseman. And folks, that was that was quite a collision by the first baseman and the bottom of this press box. I wasn't sure if it was going to stay standing as hard as he hit it.

SPEAKER_04

We can't see from this end exactly how hard he hit it, but the clunk let us believe that he hit it really hard.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he only scores two in that inning. The score is four to two. We'll keep it here as we head to the bottom of the fifth. North will send Mogenson, Henry, and Shrunk to the plate. Tim's got some more talk that he wants to share.

SPEAKER_04

Just give me one second because I need to get lights back on, because our lights up here have kind of gone away. I'm gonna again go back to the number of sponsors that we have and how wonderful they are and how well they take care of us. Ruley Family Chiropractic, Steph and Stephanie Shram at Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Sue Lynn, Sue Body Shop, Sioux City Musketeers and Travis Morgan, Sioux City Sprinkler, David Gross and the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, The Ferris Family and Sneaky's Chicken, Kelly Quinn and Soho Kitchen and Bar, St. Augustine Indian Mission, Staber Meat, Sunnybrook Dental, Tim and Lisa Swadin, and Tri-State Dental Care. We have so many wonderful sponsors. Please patronize them if you get the opportunity.

SPEAKER_03

Dylan back here to start the bottom of the fifth inning. He's finishing his warm-up pitches here. Good job by Healing Manufacturing Runs. Dylan Knapp pretty much manufactured one by himself. He bunted himself on and then stole two bases and was able to score on a long sacrifice fly. That'll bring the first baseman Moganson up. He popped out to the first baseman his first time up, walked the last time, and scored a run. That pitch outside for a ball. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. That pitch high gets away from Peyton. Two balls, no strikes. Dylan long look in. He delivers a pitch. Here it is. That ball hit over to Holchett. Short. He bobbles it. Throws it to flavor at first. Who scoops this one up? Good job. Good job, young man. Able to scoop that one up for the first out.

SPEAKER_04

It was a good throw, but it came on a hop, and Aiden was a good job of cornering that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's had a couple earlier in the game, earlier in these two games that bounced in he wasn't able to handle, and that one he was able to. So third time's a charm. We'll take that. Henry steps in. Maybe we're seeing the maturation of an eighth grader. Absolutely. Henry walked his first time up, reached second, singled his last time up, and scored the second North High run. Dillon taking a long look in here. Good thing we don't have the pitch clock. It would be an automatic ball. That was in there for ball one. Probably not in there if it was a ball, but it sure looked like it. That pitch fouled off by Henry for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That Henry Kidd has a very aggressive swing. He does. He looks like he really wants to hit it a long ways.

SPEAKER_03

He fouls that pitch off. One ball, two strikes. Dylan doing a good job settling in these last two innings after giving up two runs in the bottom of the third.

SPEAKER_04

If I remember right, the Henry Kid was part of that two-run rally by North High.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, he was. Here's Dylan with the pitch. Just outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. One out here in the bottom of the fifth inning. Healan leads this one four to two. There's a pitch. Just off Shaner's glove at third. Hope scoops it up. Makes no effort to make the throw. Henry reaches on the air by the third baseman. Shrunk steps in. When you only have a two-run lead, you want to do what you can to make sure you can try to keep guys off the base pass. Be nice to get another double play here. Dylan taking his time looking in here. Throws over to first. Henry back in time. I would like to see him just focus on the batter here and work on getting that second out.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know at four to two in the fifth inning, but they're ready to run.

SPEAKER_03

Throw over first again.

SPEAKER_04

I could be wrong.

SPEAKER_03

Henry gets back.

SPEAKER_04

He's got a two-three step lead.

SPEAKER_03

Henry goes. That ball's fouled off. No balls, one strike to count. One out. Henry at first. We're in the bottom of the fifth if you've just joined us, and Healan leads this one four-to-two.

SPEAKER_04

See how silly I sound when I try to predict baseball philosophy? They're not gonna run. So what does he do? He runs.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think they're probably thinking if we can get him in scoring position, we can cut this at least in half. Right. Henry doesn't go this time. That pitch just outside. One ball, one strike. I'm gonna wait now, folks, and check the scoreboard before I tell you what the count is. This umpire's crossing us up.

SPEAKER_04

A little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch by Dylan. Low for ball two, two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

What do we got going on?

SPEAKER_03

A balk? They must have called a balk on Dylan. Henry advances down to second place. Second base on the balk.

SPEAKER_04

I didn't see his foot come off the rubber, but maybe I missed it.

SPEAKER_03

Count remains one ball, one strike. Here's the pitch to shrunk. That pitch is high for two balls, one strike. Dylan painting himself into a little bit of trouble here. Again, Henry's at second base. Reached on an error by the third baseman and advanced to second on the balk. Nillis would be next. Here's the pitch. That pitch is fouled off. That'll make the count. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

He's done this a couple times, but his defense has bailed him out with a couple of double plays.

SPEAKER_03

We'll take an out here if we can get it. Dylan taking a long look in, come set. Here's the pitch. Called strike three.

SPEAKER_02

That brings up the designated hitter number 19, Joe Nillis.

SPEAKER_03

That is the second out of the inning. That will bring Nillis to the plate. Hit into a double play his first time up. Struck out his last time up.

SPEAKER_04

If I was a North fan, I would almost question that last strike call.

SPEAKER_03

Dylan has five strikeouts on the evening. I know our official scorekeeper over here kind of moaned on that one, and I can't say that I disagree with him. Nap taking long looks in this inning. Really taking his time. Here's the pitch to Nillis.

SPEAKER_04

Well I had to be outside because it was very knee-high.

SPEAKER_03

I hate to beat a dead horse, but that was a strike for the last batter. So one ball, one strike. Henry at second base. Two outs. Healing leads four to two here in the bottom of the fifth. Nillis hits a fly ball. Out to gas went in right field. Nathan runs in under it. Makes me a little nervous, but he knew what he was doing. So we fly Nillis flies out to right field for the third out. We're going to the top of the six. Healing leads this one four to two. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

Welcome back, everybody. It's turning into a late night here at Butts B Raw Field. We're heading to the top of the six. The Crusaders lead the North Stars 4-2. And Tim, while I've got you, I don't know how many times I'll have you up here, and I was going to have this conversation with John. What is the all-time best baseball movie in your mind?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's easy. The natural.

SPEAKER_03

The natural.

SPEAKER_04

Not even close.

SPEAKER_03

I'm going to go with Field of Dreams.

SPEAKER_04

I love Field of Dreams, too.

SPEAKER_03

I really like Field of Dreams. I don't like what they've done to it the last few years. They've turned it from something really special and quaint into a uh commercialized enterprise, and it just uh we went over before they started all that, and it was really neat. And I went back over after they had the first major league game over there, and uh it's completely changed. It's it's unfortunate. I understand money and marketing and everything else, but that's a place that shouldn't have just shouldn't have been touched. But yeah, the natural. Yeah, that's a good point. That's a really good movie on your uh thought there.

SPEAKER_04

My wife is a big Robert Redford fan, and uh I just like I just like the whole story. The story that he was a wonderful player of baseball for many, many years and came back and became a star. I I love that comeback story type thing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's it's got a good good storyline to it, that's for sure. First pitch to gas went as high and inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. So just for comparison's sake, what did Johnny say? I haven't had a chance to ask him. I was gonna we were gonna talk about it the other night during the MLC game, and when it got 11 to 3, it was like I I it we've we did talk about on the way home. It's a lot easier to talk when you're winning 10 to nothing than it is when you're losing 11 to 3. I do understand that. You you have a lot more fun. Gas went works the count of three balls, no strikes. But take the good days with the bad days, and it's a good start to the season for the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_04

As far as humor, I still like Major League as well.

SPEAKER_03

Gaswent very good. Hits that to the shortstop who throws it over to first base.

SPEAKER_02

They'll bring up first baseman number 18, Aiden LaFaver.

SPEAKER_03

Aiden LeFavor up one out in the top of the sixth inning. Again, the Crusaders lead four to two. If you're just joining us, John and I will be back on tomorrow from West High. First pitch will be at 5.30. And I would like to tell you that pregame for game two would be at 7.15 and first pitch at 7.30. But we learned tonight that baseball doesn't follow a schedule.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I hope for you and your family's sake that you do get home a little earlier tomorrow night. That we're gonna get home tonight. That's for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we are we are 10.06, and yes, you're right. At this rate, uh MOC was a uh shorter night than North High is, and it's five minutes from my house. Three balls, no strikes to Aiden. I'm acting I'm acting like it's a 10 to 20 or 10 or 20 to nothing game. I mean, this is a competitive game here. It's a very good game. That pitch in there for a strike, three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Seems like there's a lot of pitches. Seems like there's a lot of pitches going. There have been a lot of pitches.

SPEAKER_03

You gotta think both these pitchers are coming close to reaching their maximum pitch count. Aiden grounds that to the shortstop, makes a good stop, and a high thrower to first base. First base was able to come up with it. Step on the bag for out number two. That'll bring Chase Beck to the plate. Dylan Knapp would follow him if he's able to extend the inning.

SPEAKER_04

I think we might have a finch hitter here.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we do. Beckett Blatchford steps in.

SPEAKER_18

We're gonna have number 44, Beckett Blatchford.

SPEAKER_03

Blatchford, a big strong kid. Able to give the ball a ride if he can get the bat on it. Hits it over to second baseman. Second baseman goes to his right, makes a good play. Over to first for the third out. Healing goes one, two, three. We will go to the bottom of the sixth, where it will be Wirheim, Whitney, and Hagen for the North Stars. We will be back in 30.

SPEAKER_04

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_03

We're gonna have a pitching change, folks. Dylan Knapp is going to head to center field, which will move Tommy Carroll over to left field, his natural position. And JJ Hope will be the relief pitcher. Beck slides over to shortstop. And Heaton moves in at second base. So a lot of changes there. Thankfully, we know the Heaton kids and we know who's where. So now, John, thank you. If we have some dead time in a game, I have to come up with something new to talk to you about. So I appreciate that. I'll work on it, and believe me, I will get even with you for that one.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I remember last week, JJ came in as closer in one of the games and pitched really well.

SPEAKER_03

He did a really nice job when he came in last week. Yep. I guess since I've done it for everybody else, I need to do it for JJ. JJ has got one save. Yep. He's pitched one inning. Yep. Thrown eight pitches. Struck out two. Yep. So two of the three outs for strikeouts. He's a good effective pitcher.

SPEAKER_02

The bottom of the six inning for your stars. Number one, Max Warheim.

SPEAKER_04

You like having a closer. And he might be the definition of a closer here, so let's see how it goes.

SPEAKER_03

Warheim steps in here. We're in the bottom of the six. The Crusaders lead the stars four to two. JJ working from the full wind up here. First pitch. That first pitch is fouled off for strike one. No balls, one strike. JJ Deals. Bounces that one in there for a ball. One ball, one strike. And we'll bring it up again tomorrow, but we do have Healing Baseball on Friday during the day. First game is breakfast at 10 with the Crusaders. That ball hit to back at shortstop. He scoops it up. Long throwover to Lefav at first for the out.

SPEAKER_02

They'll bring up the left fielder, number 11, Cortland Whitney.

SPEAKER_03

Whitney steps in, and then we will have high tea with the Crusaders. Of course, if it's really hot, it's going to be ice tea. That's true. At 4 o'clock on Friday. Both games at Bishop Mueller. So if you've got nothing to do on Friday, come out for a good doubleheader. You'll have time between games to go enjoy a meal at one of our sponsors and then get back out there for the four o'clock game.

SPEAKER_04

I remember right. I know the four o'clock is West Lion. Who is the 10 o'clock? Uh Boydonhall Rock Valley. There we go.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. That first pitch was high for ball one. Looked like he offered at it, but the first base umpire said no he didn't. But he's busy having a conversation with the first base coach. So there's the pitch. Just inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Those northern county schools usually bring a pretty good team.

SPEAKER_03

And I was talking to the uh MOC AD on Monday night, and he said those two teams would be their toughest competition. They both got a couple solid pitchers. That pitch in there for a strike, two balls, one strike. And I don't know what they what their schedule has been during the week, but uh it always seems like other teams will save at least one good pitcher when they're they're facing the Crusaders. Two balls, one strike. Whitney jumps out of the way, makes that three balls, one strike. One out here in the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead four to two. Here's the pitch. That pitch bounces in there for ball four. Whitney draws the walk. That'll bring Hagen. See what North decides to do here with the runner on first. They try to manufacture a way to get him to second base. Swing and a miss for strike one. Good pitch there by JJ.

SPEAKER_04

He needs to get ahead. He definitely needs to get ahead of the pitchers.

SPEAKER_03

Hitters. Good job getting out ahead of this batter here. JJ delivers. Bounces that one in there, gets away from Erickson, but not far enough for Whitney to advance. So it's one ball, one strike. One out. Stars have a runner on first. They trail four to two. Here's the pitch by JJ. Oh! That's in there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

This umpire's a little slow on the strike call. Yep. But that looked like the perfect pitch. Knee high, right across the plate.

SPEAKER_03

The later it gets, the slower he gets.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

Didn't get that one to break across the plate. Two balls, two strikes to Hagan. McCormick would be up next. JJ taking a long look in. Whitney with the short lead over at first. JJ steps off. JJ back on the rubber. Gets the sign. Comes set. Here's the pitch. Runner takes off. Got him. He's out at second base. Yep. Great throw by Erickson. Even better catch and tag by Heaton out there. That was a fantastic play. Bang bang play, but Healin was able to get the second out at second base. We now have a full count on Hagen. Whitney got a good jump. Peyton, like we talked about, he's got a quick pop time and was able to get that ball down to second base. And Erickson beautiful, I mean Heaton, a beautiful tag. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

3-2 or not 2. Must be 3-2 now.

SPEAKER_03

Well, now it's full count, folks. I apologize. Again, I said I would wait until it went on the scoreboard. Our official score. Oh, that was ball four. I do know that because the runner took or the batter took off the first base. So I did get that one right.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think this is just Healan fans scratching their head. I think the North fans are scratching their head as well. I would agree with you.

SPEAKER_03

That'll bring McCormick up. Healan leads this one four to two. We're in the bottom of the sixth. Hagan on first. McCormick up at bat. Two outs here. Hope delivers to the plate. That ball hit.

SPEAKER_04

Just punched on second. Yep. There you go.

SPEAKER_03

That ball hit the back at shortstop. He takes the three steps over to second base. And that's the third out. Folks, we're going to head to the top of the seventh inning. We finally reach that magic inning. It is four to two Crusaders. We'll be back. Oh, we'll keep it here. We'll keep it here. Sorry, Grace.

SPEAKER_04

We're just going to keep it here, and I'm going to roll through again some of our wonderful sponsors. Listeners, if you get the opportunity to patronize these people, please do that. Vance Thompson Vision, Wall of Fame Graphics, Wilms Do It Best Hardware, Rents Plumbing and Heating, Bargain Center, Barclay Asphalt, Briarcliffe University, Bob Rose Point After and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, Catholic Charities, Central Bank, Suicidian Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Homes, C Nos, Dr. Ryan Meese, Council Oak Supply Company LLC, Culligan, Cyberclub Tech, Dave Pepin Real Estate. We are so blessed to have these people who are willing to spend their money with us to help produce this baseball game. Thank you so much for doing this.

SPEAKER_03

We're heading to the top of the seventh inning here at Bud Spear off Field. It will be Dylan Knapp, JJ Hope, and Peyton Erickson for the Crusaders here in the top of the seventh. And uh Dylan was a one-man show. Number 22 his last time up bunted for a base hit, stole two bases, and then scored on the sacrifice fly by Erickson to make it three to two. And then LaFavor hit a double, and Shaner hit a double, scoring LeFavre. That ball bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Be nice to get another run or two here here in the top of the seventh.

SPEAKER_04

We're very happy that Dylan did that, but his contribution tonight was that he really battled on the mound.

SPEAKER_03

Really battled. That pitch hit him. That ball got him.

SPEAKER_02

So brings up the leadoff hitter.

SPEAKER_03

Probably not the way he wanted to get on, but he knows he needed to get on. So now we've got some speed at first. Third baseman is already up on the grass for JJ Hope. I would imagine if JJ's gonna bunt, he's gonna try to push it between the pitcher and third. Or the pitcher in first. Gonna have a pitching change here.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

It looks like Henry coming in from center field. Have not seen who they're gonna send out to center field. We'll take a 30-second break and we'll be back.

SPEAKER_04

SPEAKER_14

And now back to your Crusader's courts on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I just want to make another comment on Dylan Knapp. Some nights, pitcher doesn't have his best stuff. And I would say Dylan would probably classify this as a night he did not have his best stuff. But he battled. He battled his way out of it. His defense picked him up, got a couple double plays Dan Demnings. He he really battled. And you know, that is the that is the maturation of a pitcher, is when he can battle through with not having your best stuff and still come out with a win. And it looks like that Healan could possibly do that.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, and he's uh he'll learn some lessons from tonight. He'll he'll learn from the positives and the negatives. Uh can't take anything away from the North pitcher. He pitched a great game, uh threw a lot of pitches, and either reaches pitch count or the coaches saw something and said it's time to make a change. White comes in from center field to try and finish this game for the North Stars.

SPEAKER_04

Or is that Trey Henry? It's Trey Henry, I think is who it is. Two.

SPEAKER_03

Dylan Knapp on first, no outs. We're in the top of the seventh. Crusaders lead this one four to two.

SPEAKER_04

Well, Healing does a good job of capturing their speed at the bottom and at the top of their lineup. These two are the fastest. There's no doubt about it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

When we get to the bottom of the seventh, North will have the top of the batting order up. So very important that we can get another run or two here. First pitch. Outside for ball one. Ball bounces in there, gets away from the catcher. Dylan heads down to second base. Two balls, no strikes. To JJ Hope. I have to write JJ in the book because I always want to call him Hunter. Too much time around healing athletics. There you go. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

I didn't notice earlier that the scorekeeper called him Jonathan, so I'd know if he'd switch his name from JJ to Jonathan.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we it's easier on John and I if we just say JJ. I think everybody calls him JJ. I think they do too. I think on the roster he's Jonathan, so. Let's just call him Mr. Bass hit here. That pitch is outside.

SPEAKER_04

Or a walk.

SPEAKER_03

And apparently it was not for a walk. That was ball four, folks.

SPEAKER_04

Well, in this twilight zone that we're in tonight, maybe not.

SPEAKER_03

Nap takes off for third. JJ trying to protect him. Fouls that one off. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, three-two. He says it's three-two. Full count.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. It's three-two.

SPEAKER_04

Mike and I Mike and I are in a twilight zone with the umpire here, so I don't really know what we're doing. He's definitely in the twilight zone.

SPEAKER_03

Throwback to second. Nat back safely. No outs. Healing leads four to two. We're in the top of the seventh inning. Here's the pitch. JJ lines that out to center field. Hit well. Center field still running out. He's not able to get to it. It's rolling all the way to the fence, folks. Dylan's gonna score. Dylan's gonna score.

SPEAKER_04

Uh JJ. Bayer gonna hold JJ at third.

SPEAKER_03

JJ Hope with the run scoring triple.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, he hit that a ton.

SPEAKER_03

He did, and I'm guessing if you were to ask him without coaches around, he wanted to keep running. That's a competitor that he is. Brings Erickson to the plate. JJ Hope at third. And folks, if you weren't there Monday night, you missed it. As we said, JJ stole home, and he he arrived at the same time the ball did. That's how big a jump he had and how fast he is. Be interesting to see if he does it again tonight. Here's the pitch. High to Payton for ball one. I would imagine that may not happen just because Healan would like to get another run or two out of this. Although the pitcher is throwing from a full wind up. Here's the pitch. Low and inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Have to wonder if at some point he's not going to go with that pitcher throwing from a full wind up. He's not even looking over at him.

SPEAKER_04

You know, this is a at a common theme to the first game. The seventh inning, we kind of blew it open.

SPEAKER_03

Ball bounces into Peyton. Three balls, no strikes, I think. Yes, it is three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

We have the same opportunity here, I think, to blow it open in the seventh inning.

SPEAKER_03

JJ Hope at third. No outs for the Crusaders here in the top of the seventh. They lead this one five to two. That pitch in there for a strike. Three balls, one strike. Peyton hits that ball out into left field.

SPEAKER_04

He's gonna get a double out of it.

SPEAKER_03

He's gonna get a double out of this one. Left fielder picks it up, throws it back in.

SPEAKER_04

JJ Hope scores, and it's six to two now.

SPEAKER_03

Six to two Crusaders. Still no outs. Peyton Erickson standing at second base with the double, and that brings Caleb LeFaver to the mount. Caleb LaFaver. Tibet. And Erickson is not gonna have a pinch runner this time. Well, and I think that's because Heaton went into the game. He's not able to pinch run for him.

SPEAKER_04

So I don't think they have the body to pinch run.

SPEAKER_03

LaFaver with the chance here to add to the Healing lead. No outs. Healing leads six to two. We're in the top of the seventh. That ball bounces in there and gets away from the catcher.

SPEAKER_04

And he goes to third.

SPEAKER_03

Erickson advances to third on the wild pitch. Ball one to Caleb. Have to wonder if they won't just intentionally walk him here. Caleb steps in, here's a pitch. Fouls that pitch off. Peyton Erickson is working his way down the baseline as the pitcher winds up. Again, he's throwing from he's moved to the stretch now. Peyton trying to distract him, maybe draw a balk. Pitcher comes set. Here's the throw. That pitch is fouled back up onto the hill. Strike two, one ball, two strikes. No outs here in the top of the seventh inning. Crusaders lead this one six to two. It was a four to two game at the start of the inning. They've been able to push two runs across. Caleb hits that down the left field line.

SPEAKER_04

Foul ball.

SPEAKER_03

Left fielder giving chase, and it's just out of play. Count remains. No balls, two strikes. Caleb would like to have that one back. Here's the pitch. That ball bounces in there. One ball. Two balls, two strikes. Erickson at third, no outs. Healens push two across this inning to make it six to two ball game.

unknown

Whoa.

SPEAKER_03

Caleb hits that sharply out to center field. Center fielder makes a great running catch. No, he drops it. He dropped it. Not able to make the catch. He had to go a long way to get that, folks. So that'll be another double for LaFaver.

SPEAKER_04

And it's now seven to two.

SPEAKER_03

And we have jumped up to seven to two. And there's still no outs in this inning. That brings Shaner to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

The center fielder ran it down, but I think he just didn't able to corner it.

SPEAKER_03

Made a little bit of a jump there at the end, and that might have been just enough to throw him off.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Got the first base coach for Healing over here. He's wearing all the protective gear that Erickson wears when he's at bat. So if there's a foul ball hit his way, he's not gonna get hurt. That first pitch in there to Brody for a ball. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. Top of the seventh. Healing leads seven to two, threatening to score more. Here's the pitch. That pitch high for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Tommy Carroll would be next up. Delivery to Shaner. He hits that ball hard and foul down the third baseline. He turned on that one just a little bit early. Brings the count. Brings the count to one ball, two strikes, folks. We thought it was two and one, but it's one and two. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high, we think, for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. LaFaver out at second base. Here's the pitch. Shaner hits that one hard. It's over the left fielder's head. He's got at least another double.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Lefaver's gonna score.

SPEAKER_03

LaFaver scores to make it eight to two. And Shayner, much like the last time, Caleb was at second. Shayner hits a double and switches places with him. So it is now eight to two Crusaders. We are in the top of the seventh. No outs. Brings Tommy Carroll to the plate. That pitch is low and outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Again, we'll be at West High tomorrow for a double header. First pregame is 5.15. First pitch 530. Carroll hits that out to center field. Center fielder takes a couple steps in, makes a catch for the first out.

SPEAKER_02

Noel. Right fielder, number 25, Nathan Gasmint.

SPEAKER_03

Brings Nathan Gaswin to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

That was a strong liner, too. Tommy's been on the ball on it long.

SPEAKER_03

He has been on the ball really well. Nathan struck out, popped out to the first baseman, and grounded out to the shortstop his three times up. Pitcher steps off. Shaner out at second. Eight to two healing. One out here in the top of the seventh. That ball bounces away. Shaner takes off for third. In there safely. Gas went. That was ball one. One ball, no strikes. Pitch. That pitch was outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Again, North will have the top of their batting order coming up in the bottom of the seventh. Here's the pitch to Nathan. That pitch is inside for ball three. I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to wait till the catcher throws it back. And then hope I can figure out what the call was. Pitching from the full wind up. In there for ball four. Gaswent draws the walk. On four pitches.

SPEAKER_02

Brings up number 18, Aiden LeFaver.

SPEAKER_03

And that will bring up Aiden LeFavor. Got his first hit of the season in that first game. Looking to add to that hit total.

SPEAKER_04

Popped it up. Popped it up. That's a long run. Right fielder.

SPEAKER_03

Right fielder comes in, makes a great play. He went a long way for that ball. He did.

SPEAKER_04

Kind of called off the center fielder because the center fielder was there as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was probably more the center fielder's ball, but the right fielder was not going to have anything but him catching that ball. That is correct. So two outs brings Chase Beck. Chase Beck to the plate. Like to get another run in here. Healan leads eight to two. Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Chase is the ninth batter of the inning. Dillon led this off with a hit by pitch and was able to come around and score.

SPEAKER_04

Fair ball.

SPEAKER_03

Chase with the base hit to drive in. Shaner in third.

SPEAKER_04

Nine to two.

SPEAKER_03

Makes a score nine to two. Gaswent goes down to second.

SPEAKER_02

Brings up number 22, Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_03

Tenth batter of the inning. Dylan started it off, and we're going to see if he can keep it going. First pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Pitch number two bounces in there. Runners unable to advance. You got one ball, one strike. Healing has scored five runs here in the top of the seventh to blow this one open. Make it a nine-to-two game.

SPEAKER_04

In the first game, we had four heading into the seventh, and we scored seven to get to eleven. There's a pop-up that'll probably end the inning. And there you go.

SPEAKER_03

Dillon flies out to the left fielder to mercifully end the inning. Healing scores five. We're going to the bottom of the seventh. Score is nine to two Crusaders. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

SPEAKER_14

SPEAKER_03

JJ finishes with his warm-ups here in the bottom of the seventh. It will be White stepping into the batter's box to lead off for the North Stars here in the top or bottom of the seventh. Pitch deals. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Good pitch there by JJ. Very patient, very deliberate with his wind up. Here's the second pitch. Just outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. That pitch in there for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Here's the pitch. That bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Almost fooled the batter on that one. Got a short timeout here. The batter's gonna go down and have a conversation with the third base coach, and the umpire said, Nope, let's go. It's getting late. I want to go home. One of the few times I've agreed with that young man tonight. But I've enjoyed bringing you guys Healing Baseball tonight and looking forward to doing it again tomorrow and Friday.

SPEAKER_04

Well, like everything else, some nights you get a good umpire, and some nights you get a questionable umpire.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely. Count goes to three and two on White. Mogenson would be next up, followed by Henry. Here's the pitch by JJ. Deals to the plate. Oh. That pitch fouled off behind us here. Count remains three balls, two strikes. JJ into the wind up. Here's the pitch. That ball hit sharply out to gas, went right field. It's over his head. It's all the way to the fence. Nathan chases it down. He's got an arm. There's the throw. Folks, he threw that from the outfield fence all the way to third base. It was just a little offline, or it would have been a really close play at third base. That was a Roberto Clemente Dave Parker arm there. Because he was right at the fence when he made that throw. And it was a two-hopper.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, he's got an arm.

SPEAKER_03

To third base.

SPEAKER_04

Make no mistake about it, he's got an arm.

SPEAKER_03

Brings up Moganson. Henry will follow him. First pitch high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. The crowd has thinned out considerably down there. That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Well, my friend, we are approaching 11 o'clock here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I understand the thinning out at that point in time.

SPEAKER_03

JJ looks in, deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

That should be caught.

SPEAKER_03

That ball's popped up over Shaner at third base. He's in foul territory. He does not make the catch.

SPEAKER_04

It was a fair ball.

SPEAKER_03

Lost it in the lights. He's at first. Mogenson is on with the single. North has runners at first and third with no outs.

SPEAKER_02

Trey Henry.

SPEAKER_03

Brings Henry to the plate. Henry singled and scored a run. Walked his first time up and reached on an error his last time up.

SPEAKER_04

He has a big swing.

SPEAKER_03

Henry steps in. JJ Hope delivers to the plate. Pitch is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. That pitch just high for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. North with runners at first and third. They trail this one. Nine to two. We're in the bottom of the seventh. Healing scored five in the top of the seventh to blow this one open. That pitch fouled back out of play. Two balls, one strike. North scored their two runs in the bottom of the third. JJ, a long look in. Here's the pitch. Outside. Ball three. Three balls, one strike. JJ into his windup. Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled off. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes to Henry. Shrunk would follow. Nillis would follow him.

SPEAKER_04

I will tell you, Mr. Henry does not get cheated.

SPEAKER_03

Nope. Good strong young man. If he if he's able to connect, it's gonna go. Here's the pitch. Oh lined to JJ Hope at first. Throws or at pitcher, throws over to first to double up. Moganson. So there's that ever popular double play.

SPEAKER_04

It's the third one tonight. And boy, that's been so effective as far as eliminating the runs on the north side.

SPEAKER_03

So that leaves the stars with White at third. And Shrunk steps in. That was a rocket back to JJ. It's a good thing he got his glove up. That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

He misses that, and that goes right in the center field, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Here's the pitch. Oh. That pitch is in there for strike two. Healing looking to move to six and oh in the Missouri River Activities Conference. Here's the pitch from JJ. Bounces in there. One ball, two strikes. 6-0 in the Missouri River Conference and 6-1 on the season if they can hold on to this 9-2 lead. There's the pitch. That ball's popped up. Lefaver giving chase and foul territory. He not able to make the catch. That was a tough one. He had to go quite a ways and stretch out over his head, but it was a good effort by the young first baseman.

SPEAKER_04

It was. We do. A lot of happy years ahead, for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Shrunk ready to step back in. One ball, two strikes, two outs. White at third base. Healon leads nine to two. There's the pitch. That is in there for called strike three. And that will do it, folks. Healon is able to score nine runs. Hold the North Stars to two runs. They win this one nine to two. Much like the first game, Tim, they were able to string a bunch of runs together in late innings and really blow things open.

SPEAKER_04

I think the seventh inning was the key in both games. I think we scored seven in the first game as far as the seventh inning.

SPEAKER_03

Otherwise, both these games were very competitive through the first time. North is not a bad ball club. North will beat some teams. They're going to beat some teams, and they're, you know, they've got to play healing again, and I'm sure they're going to be ready for them. Uh we will be back on the air tomorrow at 5.15 from West High, pregame 515. First pitch for game one at 5 30. Second game is scheduled for 7 30. We'll see how that schedule goes. Thank you, folks, for joining us. And Grace, thank you back at the studio. Appreciate everything you do. And go Crusaders.

SPEAKER_04

Perfect.
