SPEAKER_17Welcome back everyone. We are back at West High. We're between games. Uh umpires and Coaches are out having their pregame meeting here, so we should be starting pretty soon. Want to remind everybody we will be back on the air tomorrow morning, 9.45 pregame, 10 o'clock first pitch, and then we will return later in the afternoon. Scheduled 3 45 pregame and 4 o'clock first pitch. Little breakfast with the Crusaders and high tea with the Crusaders tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02License plate, PUP 257.
SPEAKER_17As we get ready for game number two, thank you. Comes in with a record of 7-1. 7-0 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. West comes in with a record of 0-7. And 0-7 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. Great night out here for baseball. If you're able to make it out tomorrow to Bishop Mueller Field, uh come out, enjoy some great weather and some great baseball and see a really good baseball team. John is over getting lineups as we speak, so I don't have anything for you. He will also be back in action at home next Tuesday West High for tonight's baseball game between the Healer. Bishop Mueller and your West Wolverines. They will be playing with the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_02Leading off and playing shortstop number five, JJ Holt. Batting second and catching number two.
SPEAKER_17That will be the only double header for the week next week. Next week. And then the following week, they will match up with East at Bishop Mueller the first time up. Public address announcers going through the starting lineups for both teams.
SPEAKER_02For healing for Alex Rodriguez. And batting ninth and playing center field, number 22, Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_17For healing. Batting order this second game. JJ Hope will lead off playing shortstop. Ethan Erickson will bat second. Caleb LeFaver will be batting third. He'll be the DH. Brody Chiner will be batting fourth. And he'll be at third base. Tommy Carroll batting fifth playing left field. Nathan Gaswin will be batting sixth, playing right field.
SPEAKER_02And putting number 22, Caleb Washburn.
SPEAKER_17Blatchford will be playing first base, batting seventh.
SPEAKER_02Yep, that's correct.
SPEAKER_17Alex Rodriguez. Great base hit in that first game. He'll be batting eighth and pitching. And Dylan Knapp will be batting ninth playing center field. And Chase Beck will be at second base, and Caleb Lafaver will be batting for him.
SPEAKER_02And batting ninth and playing right field.
SPEAKER_17Just finishing up the starting lineups, and we'll be moving on to the national anthem.
SPEAKER_02If we can all stand and remove our caps for the playing of our national anthem.
SPEAKER_17Appreciate them tuning in. Hopefully, John, we can not wait until the late innings this time and to put some runs together.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I uh yeah. Yeah, that's uh, I mean, we were talking to Coach Wesselman before the first game, and obviously, you know, he he'd like to see some of this uh uh this stuff that we've been manufacturing, these runs, these hits done in the early innings instead of uh inning seven, and he didn't get that wish in the first game. As we had to wait till inning seven to get that stuff, get the runs across, get the key hit, and the key base running. I'd like to say a shout out to uh my daughter uh Rachel and daughter Andrea and my grandson Parker Riediger, um, who I just got done talking to his coach about the soccer team. Good luck tomorrow night, Parker. Um, and the rest of the healing soccer team.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, that was a good interview there, John. I didn't get to hear it, but Pat Herbs just made a few words, and you kept him talking for quite a while.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Pat's such a good guy, and I tell you what, man, he he uh he really does understand and know soccer. I mean, he's been involved with it from Briar Cliff at the college level down to the high school level. He really knows how to build a team. Kind of interesting. Seeing Markowski now move back to catcher, and uh boy, that's just he threw a lot of a lot of pitches in that first game. You wonder how that wear and tear on his arm is gonna be.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, you have to wonder if it was like last week when you uh talked to the one coach that said catcher was his natural position. He pitched the first game, but catcher was actually his natural position. And you know that that is I mean, you're throwing 85, 90, 100 pitches that first game, and now every pitch that is thrown this time, you're throwing it back to the pitcher. Obviously, not the same velocity, but you know, anything that anybody tries to steal a base, you're throwing down to second. Uh so that you're right, that could be a lot of wear and tear on the arm.
SPEAKER_04He doesn't look like he gets the ball down there quite as quite as quick as that catcher in the first game. So let's uh let's see what happens. We can get some guys on here.
SPEAKER_17JJ Hope steps in to lead off. Lefty on the mound for West this game. Here's a pitch to JJ. In there for strike one.
SPEAKER_04Well, this pitcher must have watched the first game because bell tie outside corner. Imagine that, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Uh, I did get some intel between games from the parents, and to no surprise, they didn't agree with that outside corner because they said it was way outside.
SPEAKER_04Well, it kind of looked like it from here, but you know, you're calling it. Gotta make the adjustments. That's high school baseball.
SPEAKER_17They admitted he was consistent.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_17Count goes to two balls, one strike on JJ.
SPEAKER_04No, that's really all you want at this level. Just be just be consistent, call it both ways, and he did.
SPEAKER_17Pitcher looks in, deals. That pitch to JJ is high for ball three, three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, come on out here, uh, anybody that's listening, and just a beautiful setting out here at West High School, sitting right here in the foothills of the Lows Hills, and just a gorgeous, gorgeous facility.
SPEAKER_17Pitch high, ball four. Yeah, and if you weren't here for the first game, you missed a first for John and I. There was a turkey out in left field at one point.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I saw that thing gliding in. It looked like an eagle.
SPEAKER_17It was uh the two-legged turkey, not a human that we call a turkey. It was an actual turkey. Left fielder chased him off, and he flew up into the hills over to the to our left.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17JJ at first base. Being held on at first pitch to Erickson in there for strike, strike one, no balls one strike.
SPEAKER_04Boy, he's got a quick move to home.
SPEAKER_17He wasn't throwing at this much velocity in warmups.
SPEAKER_04No. No, that was a quick move. I'm sure JJ's got him thinking a little bit. They know what JJ can do, so I kind of like to see JJ get off and let's see what kind of move he's got toward first base.
SPEAKER_17Checks the runner at first, delivers home. That pitch fouled off by Erickson. Brings the count to no balls, two strikes. Again, we're just getting started here in game two.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he throws with a little velocity. A little quicker than he was in warm-up. You're right, Mike.
SPEAKER_17I've been told, John, that tomorrow morning for breakfast at the healing game, there's gonna be a bunch of cupcakes and cinnamon rolls.
SPEAKER_04Well, we might need we might need 'em. You definitely ain't gonna need them after these two late nights.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss by Erickson for number strike number three. First out of the inning. That'll bring up designated hit of hitter, Caleb Lefavre.
SPEAKER_18Up next, number 10.
SPEAKER_04Looks like he likes to throw that fastball outside just like Markowski did, only he's coming from the left side here.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch to Caleb. Throw over to first. JJ dives back.
SPEAKER_04That's the move I was looking for, and that's not a bad move, but he's borderline. Borderline with that right leg, and with lefty's getting away with murder with that thing anyway, so it's a tough pitch call.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. JJ goes. Huge pitch bounces in there. Huge jump. Yeah, JJ, he had about a five-step jump before the ball was ever delivered to the plate.
SPEAKER_04You know, here's that situation baseball. We're talking, Mike. We talk about it all the time. Situation here. Game within the game. What what do we do here?
SPEAKER_17Pitch to Caleb Faldoff. Makes it count one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04You know, with JJ, you can do so many things. You can hit and run. Even with him on second base, you can lay that bunt down and see if they'll make a play to first. JJ with his wheels probably keep going.
SPEAKER_17Yep, he may get the stop sign, but he'll keep going. JJ takes off for third.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Favor pops that up to the shortstop.
SPEAKER_17That's gonna be a tough play. Shortstop able to get back under it for out number two.
SPEAKER_04Not sure what the second baseman was doing for West. He was out in the outfield. He was they had a shot at him, I think, if he would have he would have been on the base.
SPEAKER_17I think he was admiring uh the catch by the shortstop there. He definitely definitely wasn't covering second base like he should have been.
SPEAKER_04I think the coach well, I could hear the coach telling him get on second base.
SPEAKER_17Shaner steps in here. JJ Hope at second base, two outs. He's got a big lead out there, John.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's got him nervous a little bit. You know, we saw what Shaner can do when he gets contact. He put that ball up on the up on the hill foul in the first game.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Boom, and that's another one.
SPEAKER_04Another one the same direction.
SPEAKER_17Virtually the same spot.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, he he's definitely turning on it.
SPEAKER_17No balls, one strike to Shaner. Again, we're just getting started here in the top of the first inning. JJ Hope at second. Healing has two outs. That pitch high. One ball, one strike. Wind blowing out the left field. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there. JJ's off to third. And he's in there.
SPEAKER_04I mean, he's over there so quick. That ball was only five or six feet to the right of the catcher, and and JJ beat that thing by a mile. He just can do so much. I mean, you get him on base and you can just do so much. And I mean, there's so many things that you can do. You can hit and run, you can bunt, you can I meaner.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. He hits that hard of the third baseman. Bounces off the third baseman's glove. JJ Hope able to score on that. Hard hit ball to third base. A little bit of a difficult play, especially with the tall grass.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think it hit the lip of the grass there, Mike, and just kind of took a little bounce to the left and and he just misjudged it. Up next, number eight.
SPEAKER_17I'm not the official scorer, but I'll give a base hit on that one.
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah, that that would have been a tough play.
SPEAKER_17Shayner at first two outs. Healing leads one to nothing.
SPEAKER_04Nice rip.
SPEAKER_17That ball hit sharply by Carroll down to third baseman. Bounces it over to the first baseman for the third out.
SPEAKER_04Baseball sometimes is just an unforgiving sport. Now that ball was absolutely roped down the line, and that third baseman makes a uncharacteristic play that looked like a pro play almost.
SPEAKER_17Yep, healing scores run-run in the first inning. We'll head to the bottom of the first. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back. We're heading to the bottom of the first inning. Alex Rodriguez on the mound for the Crusaders to start game number two. Nice job at the plate that first game. We've seen a little bit of it, so this is his first start, so it'll be good to see what he can do from the very beginning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he came in and and and threw four uh four batters against MLC, he got the last out of the sixth inning, and then and then and through uh perfect seventh inning, one, two, three. You're right, Mike. You've not been talking about it, it's a kiss that they've been talking about, so we're gonna get a chance to see what he can actually do to start.
SPEAKER_17Markowski will lead off for West here in the top of the first.
SPEAKER_04We'll talk about a few more of our underwriters while we got a few seconds here, Mike. Uh Mills, shell hammer and pits, uh Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Mollet Industrial Group, My Jeweler, Myra Favors State Farm Agency, and Neil Pfeiffer KOC Insurance Agent. Thank you for sponsoring Catholic Radio and Bishop Healam Baseball. Leading off of the Wolverines, number two, Peyton Markowski.
SPEAKER_17Markowski steps in to face Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_04Well, he's gonna give it a tough batter right off the bat.
SPEAKER_17Here's the first pitch. Nice. That's in there for strike one.
SPEAKER_04Such a good pitch for your first pitch. Get that confidence going.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez looks in. End of the windup. Here's the pitch. That ball lined back up the middle. Fielded by Dylan Knapp out in center field. Yeah, good piece of hit. Markowski on with a single.
SPEAKER_04Nice piece of hidden by Markowski taking that ball right out the middle.
SPEAKER_02Number seven. Caden Barker.
SPEAKER_17That will bring Barker to the plate. He was over three in the first game. With one strikeout. Rodriguez called for the balk.
SPEAKER_04Well, I've seen more balks in the last two days than I've seen in uh in forever.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, and you even missed a couple last night after you left.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Markowski down to second on the balk. Rodriguez steals to the plate. And pitch inside for ball one. Barker ducks out of the way. Had a lot of hit by pitches last night, too. Barker with that open stance. That's become very popular. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there, high for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04That pitch. I mean, last night. The last game, that might have been a strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. Yep. Have to adjust to a whole new umpire here.
SPEAKER_04That's absolutely right.
SPEAKER_17Whole new zone.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Rodriguez.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_17Swing and a miss for strike one. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Well, Peyton's giving a little eye over to the West dugout. Uh must have done something said that he didn't like.
SPEAKER_17Uh the umpire looked over and told him to knock it off, too, so the line was slightly crossed or almost crossed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there's there's there's crossing the line. I mean, there's there's good clean chirping, and then there's crossing the line. Yep. Okay. There's the ump just giving him the first warning, actually.
SPEAKER_17So we'll see if that quiets him down a little bit. Rodriguez comes set. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there.
SPEAKER_04Nice break and curve ball. Just uh really came over the top on that thing, just a little bit short of the plate.
SPEAKER_17Brings a count to three balls, one strike. Markowski single to lead the game off. Advances second on a balk. Rodriguez doesn't pitch quite as quickly as the first two. That ball lined out to Dylan Knapp in center field. He runs back, it's off his glove. Markowski will score from second. Barker heads into second base with the single, advances to second on the air.
SPEAKER_04Now just over his left shoulder there, Mike, and and uh just lost, you know. I think just lost it a little bit. Hit his glove and uh bounced out.
SPEAKER_17Wolverines get the first run of the game.
SPEAKER_04Up next, number nine, Colin Fazy.
SPEAKER_17That'll bring Frazy to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Take a deep breath here, just keep your own strikes, make them put the ball in play.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez steals.
SPEAKER_04There we go.
SPEAKER_17That ball hit the back at second. There you go. Over to Blatchford at first for the first out. Barker advances third on the play.
SPEAKER_04There you go. You know what? That took a deep breath after that. I mean, that really could have rattled him. He came back to the 22. Caleb pitched and got him to ground out.
SPEAKER_17Washburn up next, steps in from the left side. West leads this one one to nothing, bottom of the first. Runner at third, one out.
SPEAKER_04Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_17First pitch in there for a strike. No balls. One strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, nice pitch. Good curve ball. The inside corner. Be a tough pitch to hit.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez working quickly. Bounces that one in there. Gets away from Peyton, but not far enough. Good hustle by Peyton. For Barker to advance. One ball, one strike. I think the way this win's going, John, it might get a little cool before this game's over.
SPEAKER_04I didn't bring a jacket, so I hope it doesn't.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez into the windup. Here's the delivery.
SPEAKER_04Good pitch.
SPEAKER_17In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Really good pitch. Deltai outside corner.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez ready. Here's the pitch to the plate. Put it back at second. He will throw to first for the out. Barker will score to make it two to nothing.
SPEAKER_04Actually, two to one. Two to one. Yeah, we scored that. That's right.
SPEAKER_17You're right.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_17So another sacrifice will bring the run across.
SPEAKER_04Number 13, Nate Ball. That's all right. You know what? Um got him to make an out. Uh got him to ground the ball. I mean, probably could have had a shot at him at home, but I take the out this early in the game.
SPEAKER_17That ball just foul.
SPEAKER_04Just missed.
SPEAKER_17I'm glad he was paying attention because that was close enough that if he wasn't looking, he could have called that a fair ball.
SPEAKER_04I I you know I had that thing all the way, and that was the right call. It just went foul before it got to the base. That's a tough, that's a tough call for him, too. I mean that thing got down there quick.
SPEAKER_17Yep. And again, Healing could be out of this inning if Knapp didn't misplay that ball out in center field. Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled off behind us for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Rodriguez, good composure here. Been a bit of a rough start for him, but he settled in. Doing a good job. Looks in, starts his windup. Here's the delivery. Pitch high for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Rodriguez with the wind up. On the outside corner for strike three. Ball caught looking to end the inning. West is able to push two runs across. We go to the top of the second. It's West two, Healing one. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_17He just wants it to start falling where the defense is, and then it'll come. So he's he's proven that he can hit the ball. It's just a matter of now he's got to stop hitting it at people.
SPEAKER_04Doesn't waste too many pitches, is right around the plate. Bottom of the lineup, bottom of the order. See what we can do.
SPEAKER_17Gaswin steps in to lead off. Here's the pitch. Nice cut. Good cut at that. Just fouls it off for strike one. No balls one strike. Bladford will be up next. Washburn deals. Nathan's on it. He fouled that one off. Out of play.
SPEAKER_04Drive that thing right up the middle, Nathan. No balls, two strikes. Yeah, two good cuts. Two good cuts by Nathan.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04There you go.
SPEAKER_17That ball drops in there.
SPEAKER_04Good piece of hitting by Nathan Gaslin. Taking that ball to right field.
SPEAKER_17Drops in there for a single. Nathan's got to feel good about that one.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17Blatford steps in. Rodriguez will follow him.
SPEAKER_02Number 44. Beckett Blatchford.
SPEAKER_04You know that's that's what I'm talking about. When you adjust that curve ball, you just stay back, bring those wrists back, and he took it right to right field.
SPEAKER_17Pitch high to Blatchford. Gets away from the catcher. Nathan takes off. Gets away from the second baseman. Nathan is going to take off for third. Missplayed by the second baseman out there. Gas went with that speed, gets all the way to third base.
SPEAKER_04I would imagine the center fielder is going to get a little chewing out when he comes in there. Not backing up second base on that, Mike.
SPEAKER_17I think you're going to be right on that one, John.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_17Count one ball, no strikes to Blatchford.
SPEAKER_04Here we go. Situation ball. Got a guy in third. Anything in play.
SPEAKER_17Gas went at third base.
SPEAKER_04Good cut by Beckett. Good cut.
SPEAKER_17Nathan is coming way down the line. On that. So if the catcher sees that, he's either going to throw down and Nathan's going to keep coming. Or we're going to be in a pickle. Here's a pitch by Washburn. Blatford swings. Fouls that one off. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04A little bit up in the zone. Like to see him bring it down just a little bit.
SPEAKER_17Stealin trails this one two to one and top of the second.
SPEAKER_04He's got some good power if he gets a hold of it.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04There we go.
SPEAKER_17Low and outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Washburn works pretty quickly himself. Yeah, he does. Here's a wind up in the pitch. Low and outside for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Gaswent would dearly love to score.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's he's got such a just a good stance there.
SPEAKER_17Oh Blatchford caught looking for strike three.
SPEAKER_04That ball was that ball was way low, but you know what? I don't I don't I don't uh fault him for being a little upset on that one. I wouldn't have swung at that one either. No.
SPEAKER_17Brings Rodriguez to the plate. Hit one that rolled all the way to the fence out in left field in game one.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_17That pitch, I'm sure A-rod is gonna hope that he gets himself. Absolutely. Well high and outside, but it was called a strike, so no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Not so sure he wanted to call a strike. He really had a delay on that. Oh, nice cut.
SPEAKER_17Good cut by Rodriguez there. Not able to make contact. No balls, two strikes. Gas win at third. One out for the Crusaders here in the bottom of or the top of the second.
SPEAKER_04Just get something in play here. Let's get a guy in. I hate to waste him.
SPEAKER_17Wind up by Washburn. Here's the pitch. That pitch high and outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Dylan Knapp would be up next.
SPEAKER_04Here we go.
SPEAKER_17Washburn deals. That pitch outside as well. Two balls, two strikes. Not much different than the one that we questioned as a strike earlier.
SPEAKER_04No. No. Here we go. Two and two.
SPEAKER_17I'd like to say hi to Ann Reed and Tim Swedeen. Swing and a miss there by Rodriguez for strike three.
SPEAKER_04Nice pitch, nice swing. I mean, that was that was a tough pitch to hit, and he just missed it.
SPEAKER_17Second out of the inning for the Crusaders there. That'll bring up Dylan Knapp. Gaswent still down at third base. Healing trails this one two to one. We're in the top of the second. And Grace Tott, thank you for everything you're doing to keep us going tonight. Dylan hits that one foul.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, stay hot. Stay hot at the plate here, Dylan.
SPEAKER_17No balls one strike to Dylan.
SPEAKER_04Just missed that one.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch from Washburn. Pitch. Pitch high and outside for ball one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04That was a classic curveball that didn't curve, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Yep. Here's the pitch by Washburn. Dylan fouls that one off. Kind of looked over our way. I wasn't sure where how far back that was going. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Well, your car's in front of mine, so if it's gonna hit anything.
SPEAKER_17It's a long way off. If they can foul it that far. Here's the pitch by Washburn. Nice. Nap hits that to third baseman, bounces off his glove. Gaswint will score.
SPEAKER_04Boy, this uh that's uh that second one that that kid's misplayed over there.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, that uh I mean it goes back to what uh the West Coach told you before game one. That's if they can field it cleanly, they've got a chance to be competitive, and uh they've had some times where they've struggled with that. That'll bring JJ Hope up. He walked his first time up and scored the first healing run. Dylan takes off, and Dylan is in there. Ball gets away from the second baseman.
SPEAKER_04Called that a strike.
SPEAKER_17Uh it's almost like they get distracted by what's gonna happen down at second base, and they don't see where the pitch is because you know, I mean, we we've we've seen him call it all night, so here we go.
SPEAKER_04Down 0-1. Just uh, you know, you got a good contact hitter and JJ and put the ball in play, and we got a run in. Here we go.
SPEAKER_17Got two outs here. Dylan Knapp at second base, score tied two to two in the top of the second. Another pitch high, but it's called a strike. No balls, two strikes. Healing has an opportunity to regain the lead here. Good speed at second base, good speed at the plate, and the pitch. That ball hit out to center field. Center field comes in. Makes the catch for out number three. Healing pushes one across. We're tied at two to two as we head to the bottom of the second. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader's courts on your Catholic station.
SPEAKER_17We're back at West Tide. We're heading to the bottom of the second. Elan and West are tied at 2-2. West scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Elan scored one in the top of the first, scored one in the top of the second. And the bottom of batting orders really start to make good contact on the ball, John. So that's uh things we've talked about a lot amongst ourselves and and on the air. So it's good to see that, and hopefully it continues and they'll continue to build on that progress.
SPEAKER_04I mean, you get somebody on base, Mike, and and I'd you know myself, I'd like to see a little bit more small ball uh in getting that run in, but you know, we we manufactured it, got it, got him around, and and got him in type score up here. Uh and you're right. I mean, bottom of the lineup definitely making better contact than they did in the first two double headers, and and starting to put together some hits.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it's it's really good to see. And you I mean you can see the difference in in the confidence of the healing batters, especially at the bottom of the batting order.
SPEAKER_02Leading off for the Wolverines. Oh, absolutely. Number 24, Franklin Artiaga.
SPEAKER_17Artiaga will lead off for the Wolverines here in the bottom of the second inning. Rodriguez deals just inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's a good spot. You know, Peyton didn't move his glove very much, you know, in the inside corner. But they're not calling that tonight. I mean, you really gotta really gotta sit outside.
SPEAKER_17That ball lined out to left field. Carroll Wisely lets it bounce in front of him. Ardiaga on with a single.
SPEAKER_04Updates Peyton looks a little upset, you know. He wants that inside corner pitch, Mike. And I think that first one where he was sitting and where he caught that, it looked to me like it caught that corner, and he wants that pitch, and that's the exact that's the result you get when you don't get it. If you've got to start putting the ball down the middle of the plate, you know, to get that strike called, you know, it's just like putting it on a T, and that's exactly what happened here. You get that inside corner, you you maybe come back with it.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, absolutely. It makes it tough to uh uh to throw the pitches you want to throw when you're not getting that call inside.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I and Peyton looked like he said a little something to the ump. And you know, some some umps will take that as an insult. Sometimes, you know, some umps will listen. Depends on your relationship with him.
SPEAKER_17Artiaga steps in here, squares around a bunt, offers it the pitch, does not make contact. Strike one, no balls one strike. Again, West trying to manufacture a run here, play some small ball, get the runner over to second base, yeah, get him in scoring position. Definitely squaring his head. Wolf squares around right away. Now pulls back, lines that out to Dillon in center field. Dillon lets it bounce in front of him. So West has a little something going here in the bottom of the second inning. First two batters on with singles. Ardiaga at second, Wolf at first.
SPEAKER_04Good piece of hitting. Um that ball back. You know, that's that's called, you know, the uh fake bunt check hit, it's what that's called. We used to call it, we used to just give it a little check mark where you square and then bring it back in and then just punch. It's exactly what he did. He punched it out into center field. Good piece of hitting. It's a big out for Rodriguez here.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez comes set. Here's the pitch. And they're low for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Just gotta have confidence in his ability to throw strikes across.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's all he needs to do. I mean, we got double play ball here. Uh anything on the ground.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Nice. In there for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, knee high, outside corner. Tough pitch to hit.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez, long look. He comes set. Here's the pitch. That pitch popped up out of play.
SPEAKER_04Good pitch by Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_17One ball, two strikes. West says runners at first and second with no outs. We're in the bottom of the second. The score is tied two to two.
SPEAKER_04Got that up on his, just up on his fist up there, you know, about chest high. Good pitch.
SPEAKER_17Pitch. Just outside. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's that's the same pitch they got the last inning, and I'm I'm sure Peyton wanted that.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez has the sign. Come set. Here's the pitch for the plate. That's high and inside for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Full count, runners at first and second, no outs. Rodriguez comes set. And the pitch. That's over Nathan's head out in right field. He's on the run. West will get one. Ball gets overthrowed to Peyton, but runners aren't able to advance. So West will get one to take the lead three to two. And they now have runners at second and third with no outs.
SPEAKER_04Up next for the Wolverines, number three, Taylor Joy. Absolute bullet relay in. Almost had a chance of getting him at home plate, but uh that'll bring joy to the plate for the Wolverines.
SPEAKER_17They lead this one three to two. We're in the bottom of the second. Runners at second and third with no outs.
SPEAKER_04Calm the young man down here. Tough situation. Infield's playing in a little bit. Third baseman's on the grass. First baseman's on the grass.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez steals. That ball hit to Shaner at third.
SPEAKER_04Got him at home. Oh.
SPEAKER_17Bounces in there. Blatchford not able to make the play. Wolf scores from third to make the score four to two. West now has runners at first and second with no outs.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we need you need to go out there and talk to the young man. Get him settled down.
SPEAKER_02Up next for the Wolverines, number two, Peyton Markowski.
SPEAKER_04What you don't want is to get this thing to blow up here. We got no outs, Mike. Guys on first and second.
SPEAKER_17And Markowski, a very dangerous hitter, steps in. He singled his first time up and scored the first run for the Wolverines. Still no outs. Healing trails four to two. We're in the bottom of the second. Markowski squares, fouls that one off at the plate.
SPEAKER_04Clip Peyton right in the right in the leg. Hopefully he just got him in the shin guard.
SPEAKER_17No balls, one strike. Umpire takes a slow stroll out to give the ball back to Rodriguez. Give Peyton a chance to recover.
SPEAKER_04Good job. Yeah, I thought maybe he would do that, give Payton a little.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez comes set. Deals to Markowski. Squares around again. Doesn't offer. Pitch in there for a ball. One ball, one strike. West in a position here to really do some damage here in the bottom of the second. Couple uncharacteristic misplays by Healan have led to a couple runs. Markowski squares around again, bunts it to Rodriguez. Has a hard time getting out of his glove, and Markowski is able to beat it out.
SPEAKER_04Kind of lobbed it over there. Man, you gotta wing that, especially with a kid like Markowski with the speed. Yeah, Peyton needs to get out there. He needs to settle the young man down. Bring the whole infield in. You gotta stop the bleeding here.
SPEAKER_17West has the bases loaded with no outs. They lead this in four to two. We're only in the bottom of the second, folks. Barker will step in. Sure, Peyton included that guys were better than this.
SPEAKER_04Number seven, Caden Barker. I mean, normally I would say, you know, play at regular regular uh depth. But uh I almost I'd almost rather come in on this, especially at third. Yep, yep, third baseman's in.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. That pitch in there, high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04First baseman's in. Yeah, I kind of like that. I like that move. Let's you know, let's get the run at home. Ball hit to you. Bring it home.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez looks in. Deals. Swing and a miss by Barker. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Good pitch.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez ready to go. Wind up and the pitch. Good pitch. Another good pitch. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Nothing wrong with it down there, especially where you're heading the count.
SPEAKER_17One ball, two strikes. Base is full of Wolverines. They lead this in four to two. No outs in the bottom of the second inning. Here's a pitch by Rodriguez. Fouled off. Back to the backstop. Has the lady sitting right behind that jumped, thinking the ball was going to come through the fence.
unknownLet's go, Parker.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez pitching from the full wind up. And he wind up. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Really fooled him on that pitch.
SPEAKER_04Now you can move back. Shortstop and second baseman back at normal distance for the double play ball. Third baseman's in. Ball hit to the third baseman. He's coming home to prevent the run. Keep it a two-run game.
SPEAKER_17Brings Frazy up. Yeah, it would be huge to get a double play here and hold West to two runs. That pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Rodriguez a long look in. Now is wind up. That ball hit out to Nathan in right field. He's not able to make the play. He is able to get the force out at second.
SPEAKER_04Nathan was looking to come home with that on a catch and get the guy tagging. And I think he was making the play, making the throw before he had the ball in the glove. Absolutely. Markowski thrown out at second base for the second out.
SPEAKER_02Caleb Washburn.
SPEAKER_17Washburn steps in. Runners at first and third, two outs. Erickson throws down.
SPEAKER_04You gotta run it home, gotta play. Uncharacteristic uh plays by the Crusaders here. Um drop ball in the outfield, uh couple bad throws. I mean, it's this inning should have been over a couple rounds ago here, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, this this should have been a four to two. Yeah. Four to two game, and we're in the top of the third, but some uncharacteristic mistakes by the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_04Here we go. Let's learn from this. Let's get out of this inning. It's going two on the batter. Let's get out of this inning. Let's just get back up and start fresh. There we go.
SPEAKER_17Watchburn strikes out looking to end the inning. As we head to the top of the third, I have it West 6 and Healing 2. We'll be back in 30. Yeah, they're wrong on that.
SPEAKER_11Hello, this is Bishop John Keener of the Diocese of Sioux City. I want to take a few moments to thank you for listening to Siouxland Catholic Radio. I am most grateful that the faithful of our diocese can turn to Siouxland Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17We're heading to the top of the third here at West High. Wolverines lead this one 6-2. They've now corrected the scoreboard to reflect the true score. Healin will send Erickson, Caleb LaFaver, and Chainer to the plate. Here to start off the third inning.
SPEAKER_04Ruy Family Chiropractic, Graham Electric, and Security National Bank. Thank you for sponsoring Catholic Radio and Bitch Apelin Baseball. And do me a favor, you know, go out and give these people business. Yeah, I'm I'm sure Coach got them all together and said, uh, let's wake up, boys. That that's just uncharacteristic. And these are the things he was worried about coming into this game, Mike. A little bit of complacency.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it'd be interesting to see how Healan reacts here after that catastrophic bottom of the second inning. First pitch in there to Peyton as a ball, one ball, no strikes. Catastrophic is probably a strong word, but it wasn't good.
SPEAKER_03It's probably a little too strong of a word.
SPEAKER_17Peyton fouls that off into the heel and dugout. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that wind's really kind of dying down a little bit. I mean, it was really gusting right to left, but flag's kind of half and half now.
SPEAKER_17Washburn delivers. Bounces in there for ball two, two balls, one strike. After a wonder a little bit too, how long that uh healing coaching staff will go with Rodriguez. Don't want to pull him too early and mess with his confidence, but you can also, it can be the other way too.
SPEAKER_04You can leave him in too long and yeah, and game get a little bit out of hand.
SPEAKER_17That pitch in there for a ball. Three balls, one strike to Erickson. Caleb Lefaver would be next, followed by Schayner.
SPEAKER_04I know we've heard it a thousand times, but just one run at a time, one hit at a time.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Inside for ball four. Erickson walks. And if things go as usual, we'll see Hendrix Eden running out there to pinch run for Peyton.
SPEAKER_18Caleb LeFavor.
SPEAKER_17And there he goes. One of the advantages of calling every game so far. You pretty much know what the coach is going to do. LeFaver steps in.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we talked to Pat Herbst a little bit about getting Geecey back once soccer season's you know over and getting some more speed. Yeah, we'd love to have him here on the baseball. So it's a tough, tough move over to first base.
SPEAKER_17Heaton gets back in just in time. Yeah, uh Cal had quite a game last night at soccer uh out on the memorial field pitch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, four goals. I mean, just incredible game.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn.
SPEAKER_04You know, that's a good thing. The favor pops that up. It is trouble. They're not gonna get to that.
SPEAKER_17No. It's just foul. Would have been serious trouble if it was foul or fair, but it just foul. No balls, one strike to Caleb.
SPEAKER_04He hasn't had one of his patented uh frozen ropes up the middle in this game yet, so let's see if he can uh let's see if he can get one of those.
SPEAKER_17Healing trails this one six to two. We're in the top of the third. Here's a pitch by Washburn. That pitch high and outside for ball one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_03He turns on that one.
SPEAKER_17That thing, oh, right away. That ball's off the fence out there. Heaton turns heading for third. Lafavre in with the double. Nice piece of hitting there. That wasn't far from being a home run, folks.
SPEAKER_04Boy, I could tell you the only thing holding that up was the win because that thing was absolutely smoked. Hit the about halfway up the fence on right field.
SPEAKER_17Healing getting a little something going here. They've got runners at second and third with no outs. Shayner steps in. He'll be followed by Carroll.
SPEAKER_04I think Heaton initially thought maybe that thing was gonna get caught. I don't I don't know how, but because I I thought for sure he would score from uh first base, but yeah, just to be safe, I I think he kind of held up a little.
SPEAKER_17Here's a pitch by Washburn. Pitches outside for ball one. Well, we know two guys on the team that would have scored for first base.
SPEAKER_04Yes, we do. Yes, we do. And I'm not so sure Heaton wouldn't either if he just if he didn't get caught up there.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he was he probably did the right thing playing it safe. Schaader a little early with that swing on that one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he fooled him with a little bit off-speed pitch there. I think Shayner was expecting that thing. Fast ball down.
SPEAKER_17Shayner to date has Healen's only home run. It was a grand slam last week. Here's the pitch. Inside, two balls, one strike. He doesn't get cheated when he swings, and he's definitely got the power to be able to put it out. Now would be a good time for Washington.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Washburn. Washburn's having a little trouble finding the zone here.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn. Yeah. That pitch is high for ball three, three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04I'd like to get one of these innings ourselves here. Get guys on second or third scoring position.
SPEAKER_17I mean get two or three of these runs back and make it a manageable game. Washburn looks in, throwing from the full wind up. That pitch in there for a strike. Full count, three balls, two strikes to Schayner.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's got to come with something.
SPEAKER_17Washburn comes set. Here's the pitch. Shaner hits that just foul. Right where he likes to go, right down that third baseline.
SPEAKER_04That thing missed the third base. That missed third base by about two inches. Man. That would have scored both runs, and he would have easily had a double on that.
SPEAKER_17Three balls, two strikes to Shaner.
SPEAKER_04You were talking about shifting earlier in the season.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn. Shaner fouls that out of play.
SPEAKER_04And this is a perfect example of maybe moving your third baseman down the line, your shortstop over, second baseman. I mean, somebody like Shaner, you want to force him to hit it to right field because he's a pole hitter. And uh we were talking about that a little bit the other night.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn. Fouls that one off out of play. Really extending this at bat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, he's making Washburn throw some pitches. Gonna make it a long inning for him.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn. Shaner again fouls it off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, beautiful piece of hitting by Brody.
SPEAKER_17Brody hanging tough here.
SPEAKER_04This is about pitch number nine, I think, Mike.
SPEAKER_17It's been quite a few. There was a 17 pitch at bat in the women's softball tournament over the weekend. Here's a pitch by Washburn.
SPEAKER_04Oh. Got him on that outside corner pitch.
SPEAKER_17That was a high outside corner pitch. Shaner caught looking for out number one.
SPEAKER_04Could have easily been ball four. That'll bring Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_17He'll be followed by Gaswent.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, one at a time here. Put the ball in play, Tommy.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch to Carroll. Boy, he's gonna score one. He hits that one out to center field. Center fielder coming in. Makes the catch. Heaton on his way home. He's gonna score. LaFaver advances to third. Carroll with the sacrifice fly.
SPEAKER_04Good job. Good piece of hitting by Tommy.
SPEAKER_17Erickson scores to make it six to three.
SPEAKER_04That's your job up there. That's the only thing. I mean, put the ball on the ground, or you know, or obviously uh it's an out, but get that ball up in the air and make them make a play at home.
SPEAKER_17Absolutely.
SPEAKER_04Good sacrifice by Tommy.
SPEAKER_17Gas went single this first time up. Hit it down the right field line. Use another base hit here to score Caleb. Here's the pitch. Pitch in there high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. We're in the top of the third. Crusaders trail six to three.
SPEAKER_04Favor's got a good lead over there at third. You know, anything, any slow hop.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Nathan pops that one up.
SPEAKER_04Get the first base. Get the first base. There we go.
SPEAKER_17Third baseman struggles to make the catch, but able to make it to end the inning. We'll head to the bottom of the third. Crusaders trail six to three. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14And now, back to your crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez back on the mound as we head to the bottom of the third inning. West will send up Watchbird, Ball, and Artiago. So Healing got some guys on. Got the lead to six to three.
SPEAKER_04That'd be nice to see if they might. No, we're talking one at a time. One at bat at a time, one out at a time, one run at a time.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. The only way they would have been able to do it with one swing of the bat was to load the bases and have somebody hit it out.
SPEAKER_04We need to have a clean inning here though, Mike. We need to keep the score at six to three. You know, and and kind of minimize the damage and uh and then just kind of start manufacturing some runs. Lean off for the Wolverines. Number 13, Nate Vall.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, definitely better than what they showed there in that uh bottom of the second inning.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17Ball steps in. Rodriguez with the windup. Delivery to the plate. Low for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Possibly two with two games tomorrow. Healens doing what they can to conserve the pitching.
SPEAKER_04No, there's no question about it. They're gonna let Rodriguez go. I mean, basically until he can.
SPEAKER_17Here's a pitch by Rodriguez. That ball muscled out to Beck at second base, fields it, throws it to Blatchford at first for the first out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Nice job by Blatchford. Staying on there. Ball's a little high. Making a nice catch, keeping his foot on the base.
SPEAKER_17That will bring up next.
SPEAKER_02Number 24, Franklin. Artiaga. Blatchford.
SPEAKER_17That brings Artiaga to the plate. He singled his first time up. Scored a run.
SPEAKER_04Blatchford does a nice job over there at first base.
SPEAKER_17Well, just turned out first pitch, fouled off for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know what he's looking for. I mean, he just turned on that. Come back. Yep, he's going outside. That's a good move. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_17In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Exactly what I would have done. That's just that's perfect. Good job by Peyton getting on that outside corner. Better pitch by Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez wines deals. That pitch fouled back. Count remains, no balls, two strikes. Wolf would be next. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one, one ball, two strikes. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Fouled off out of play. Over the heel and dugout. Count will remain one ball, two strikes, one out here in the bottom of the third. Wolverine's lead six to three.
SPEAKER_04Did that bat come around and catch him?
SPEAKER_17It's possible. There's something. Erickson trying to walk it off.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he got it. He got it either right on the thigh or right on the knee.
SPEAKER_17That would be a huge blow if he's not able to finish. One ball, two strikes, one out. Bottom of the third. Crusaders trail three six to three. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. That ball lined out.
SPEAKER_04That's an absolute beautiful play.
SPEAKER_17Carroll makes a diving catch out in left field for the second out of the inning.
SPEAKER_04Absolute beautiful play. You know, that looked just like the play he tried to make last night up at north. Yeah. Just got underneath him. Uh diving. Not bad. Number six. That's one that could be on the top ten plays on ESPN tonight.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, and the and the way the height of this infield out there, the way it drops off out there, is really hard to tell if he caught it.
SPEAKER_04He well, if he didn't, he sold it. He definitely sold it.
SPEAKER_17And I'm gonna tell you, we're lucky the home plate umpire had to make that call because if the other one would have been over in that area, that would have probably would have been questionable. That first pitch in there for a ball, one ball, no strikes. That ball hit to JJ Hope, it's short, fields it, throws to Blatchford for out number three. Good inning there for Rodriguez. Way to come back after that. Uh bottom of the second inning. We're gonna head to the top of the fourth. Crusaders trail six to three. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17We're back out here at West High. We're heading to the top of the fourth inning. Crusaders trail this from six to three. They'll send Blatchford, Rodriguez, and Knapp to the plate.
SPEAKER_04That sounds like runs, Mike. Sounds like runs. Here we go.
SPEAKER_17Got up to a good start that last inning with a walk and a double by LaFavor, able to push one run across. Unable to get more out of it, but good start, productive inning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I like Beckett over there at first. You know, he he plays a nice first base. He's uh he's he just needs more at bats here because he just missed and he takes a really nice, nice cut at the ball when he does take a swing.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he does, and he he just needs more time at first base. Yeah. Sometimes he makes it a little too adventurous for me, but still gets the out and does a good job. So that's all we want. Bladford steps in from the left side.
SPEAKER_04Lefty on lefty. You know, West got somebody in the bullpen over there, so you it makes you wonder how long they're gonna they're gonna stay with Washburn.
SPEAKER_17And it looks like another lefty for Wes is warming up down there. Here's a pitch by Washburn. Oh, I thought he was gonna call that one a strike. He did not. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04I think he wanted to, and then he kind of backed off.
SPEAKER_17He looked over like he was gonna call it. Washburn comes set, deals to the plate. That pitch is in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. Again, it just takes putting the ball in play and make West get you out. Here's the pitch. Get set down to the first baseman. First baseman unassisted. For the first out. Rodriguez will step in. Struck out his first time up.
SPEAKER_02Now batting number four, Alex Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_17Be nice to see him get a hold of one like he did in that first game.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he uh he was really aggressive in that in that first attack.
SPEAKER_17Washburn deals. Pitch on the outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04I mean you just gotta get on base here.
SPEAKER_17Pitch outside for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04I know, I know I'm saying the obvious, but we need base runners. We got we got speed coming up here with uh Dylan and and A and JJ.
SPEAKER_17Here's a pitch.
SPEAKER_04Good God.
SPEAKER_17Fouled off for strike two, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Just missed that one.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez steps back in. Washburn deals, here's the pitch. Bounces in there, gets away from the catcher. Two balls, two strikes. He only comes into this game with a 7-1 record. 7-0 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. And the pitch by Washburn. Rodriguez. Taps it out. Just gets him at first base.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he just got him.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez out at first for the second out. That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Well, let's start it with two.
SPEAKER_17Singled his first time up.
SPEAKER_04Dylan Knapp. You know, we've we've watched Dylan literally manufacture his own run here uh twice in the last two games, so let's see if he can do it again. Ooh.
SPEAKER_17Squares to bunt, just misses for strike one. No balls, one strike. Washburn with the pitch. Washburn looks in. Deals. Pitch is low. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Let's start this thing with two.
SPEAKER_17Two outs, top of the fourth inning. Healing Trails West, six to three. Again, we'll be on tomorrow morning at nine forty-five. That pitch in there for a strike. Two balls, two strikes. Pregame at 9.45. First pitch at 10. Then we'll be back on in the afternoon. 3.45 pregame. 4 o'clock first pitch. Washburn to the plate. Dylan just reaches out. Nice job of hitting on that one. Puts it out between center and right. So Nap, second hit of the game for him. Runner at first, two outs. That will bring up JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_04I'd like to see a hit and run on this first pitch. Not bad in number five, JJ Hope. I mean, let's let's make something happen.
SPEAKER_17JJ can extend the inning. Peyton Erickson would follow him. Here's the pitch from Washburn. That pitch is high. One ball, no strikes. Good opportunity here with Peyton next, followed by LeFavre.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you got good contact hitters the next three of bats.
SPEAKER_17Knapp takes off. Pitch is high. Catcher can't get it out of his glove. Dillon in there easily. Another stolen base for Knapp. Brings a count to two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, this makes you think. Here we go. Situation baseball now. We got a guy in scoring position. You know, they're trying to protect that 6-3 lead, and we're and we're just talking one run at a time here.
SPEAKER_17Here's a pitch by Washburn.
SPEAKER_04Nice.
SPEAKER_17Lined out into right center. Dylan is going to score on that. Throw home. JJ's going to take off the second. He's in there. Ball gets away out to center field. JJ Wisely holds up. Dylan Knapp scores. That makes a score six to four Wolverines. Good job of hitting there by JJ Hope to get that RBI.
SPEAKER_04Great piece of hitting. Grandma Hope, if you're listening, uh your grandson, that was that was one of the better at bats I've seen him have. He he went beautifully with the pitch and just lined that thing right out the right field.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, the last two hits by Healing have been out that way. Now you got Hope at second base. You got to wonder if he's going to take off for third at some point. Peyton Erickson steps in.
SPEAKER_04Well, he is way off.
SPEAKER_17Yep, JJ. Boom. Oh. Peyton a little early on that one, turns on it and sends it foul down the third baseline.
SPEAKER_04He wants that one back. Just rope that thing all.
SPEAKER_17Just give me about two-tenths of a second more. Holding off on that. And JJ Hope is going to score if that's a base hit.
SPEAKER_04Washburn steps off.
SPEAKER_17JJ's got him thinking out there.
SPEAKER_04He does. Two out baseball here, Mike. Two out baseball.
SPEAKER_17Washburn deals. JJ takes off for third.
SPEAKER_04Oh no. He was underneath that.
SPEAKER_17Yep. So JJ out at third base for the third out, but he does drive in a run. Makes a score six to four. As we head to the bottom of the fourth. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_17We're heading to the bottom of the fourth inning, the Crusaders Trail 6-4. Rodriguez back on the mound for Healing to start this inning.
SPEAKER_04You and I thought uh he might have been safe there. I thought I was just talking to one of the parents who had a better, better look at it, and they said his hand came off third base. Okay. And Peg Peg got him when his hand came off.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, and now that I will give the umpire credit on that. He did delay his call to make sure that he didn't have to call safe and then out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that I thought maybe it looked like he got underneath it, but that explains it a little bit better. But there we go, Mike. One run at a time. Two outs. Manufactured with two outs. And uh it's good that's just good baseball right there by Healan and getting the job done and and and making them make plays with two outs.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Healing has scored one run in every inning. The difference being the bottom of the second inning when West was able to push across four runs. Yep. And they lead this one six to four as we head to the bottom of the fourth. Coyle steps in. He doubled his last time up.
SPEAKER_04Got confidence in the young man. He liked what he saw the last two innings.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez deals to the plate. Bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04One caught the ump in the old mask. He's uh rubbing it off there a little bit.
SPEAKER_17Now Peyton's do the Peyton's doing his turn of we'll take our time on this one, let him recover a little bit from it.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_17Sometimes that scores points with you for you with the umpire.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you gave him a little fist pump. Good job by Peyton.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez looks in, starts his wind up, and the pitch.
SPEAKER_04That ball hit the wicked bounce off the off the lip of the grass.
SPEAKER_17It did. Just just out of reach of JJ Hope. JJ's been busy all night long, and that would have been another good play for him if he was able to field that.
SPEAKER_04Well, he makes that play easy, Mike. He he he was coming up running, you know, and that thing just hit the lip and just like ricocheted like it hit a rock or something.
SPEAKER_17Absolutely. Joyce steps in, reached on a fielder's choice his last time and scored a run. Got Coyle at first with no outs. Healing trails six to four in the bottom of the fourth inning. Here's a pitch by Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_04Foul ball.
SPEAKER_17Runner was off with the pitch. Ball fouled off at the plate.
SPEAKER_04Boy, he was doing everything. That ball was right in at his chest.
SPEAKER_17Erickson and Joy ran into each other on that one. I think Peyton took the brunt of that. Yeah, I think as he went to try to field it, I think he ran right into the bat.
SPEAKER_04You know, this is four games in less than 24 hours right now for Peyton. I mean, the young man's, you know, he's he's taken a lot of dirt balls, hit the hits to the face mask, you know, you name it. That's dead Bond. You gotta make that play.
SPEAKER_17Oh Coyle took off on the pitch and kept running. He advances over to third. Joy is out, pitcher to first base for the first out.
SPEAKER_04Good piece of running by uh West, the young kid from West.
SPEAKER_17That'll bring Markowski to the plate. Very dangerous hitter.
SPEAKER_04Up next for the Wolverines, number two, Peyton Markowski.
SPEAKER_17Singled both times up so far in this game.
SPEAKER_04He wants to get a run. He wants to get this kid in. I wouldn't be surprised to see a suicide bunt here.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez steals. Pitch just high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you got some pretty good wheels on third.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. That ball is lined over Beck at second base. That will score Coyle to make the score 7-4. Got Markowski at first base with one out. And West has shown they're not afraid to run. That'll bring Barker to the plate.
SPEAKER_04And I would imagine Markowski's gonna take off as well. He's taken off every time he's gotten on first base.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Rodriguez is not even looking over, and they're they're taking off almost before he starts his windup.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's calling timeout here. Let's see, Coach Wessman's coming out. I you know, I'm I'm not so sure. Uh I mean he wants to stop the bleeding here. Let's see what he does.
SPEAKER_17You know, you talked about this is fourth game in less than 24 hours for Peyton. Yeah. Now we've got to turn around and play two more. Yeah. So he's he's gonna if he's behind the plate tomorrow, which is kind of competitor he is, I have no doubt that he's gonna be behind the plate. That's gonna be six games catching in in less than forty-eight hours.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, that's that takes its toll on a young man. But he's young, he's eighteen, you know. I mean, but still, man, you're sore. Uh I mean, there's no other position on the field that that quite demands the the amount of uh work and energy that you know is behind the plate.
SPEAKER_17And I'm sure if there was even a thought or a discussion of possibly him sitting one of those games out, he's yeah, he's gonna give his pitch and he's gonna make his argument that that's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'd like to. I mean, and and then I wouldn't be surprised to see Coach Wesseman tomorrow. Maybe split it up. You know, he's got a good young freshman you know behind him in in uh riding uh Fraelick, so it'd be kind of interesting to see the uh you know, the little Fraelick kid, young Frailick kid get get in there and get some innings, get some experience in case something did happen to Peyton.
SPEAKER_17So Barker steps in with Markowski at first, one out. West leads this one seven to four. Markowski with a good lead over there at first base. He takes off.
SPEAKER_04Nice throw. Beautiful.
SPEAKER_17Folks, there's unless you saw it, there's no way to describe that. Markowski took off before Rodriguez ever started his windup, and Erickson was able to throw him out at second base.
SPEAKER_04That's called sitting there with a cup of coffee in your hand waiting for the guy to slide. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17I mean they were standing there and said, Come on, keep coming.
SPEAKER_04Great throw by Peyton.
SPEAKER_17That first pitch was a ball. That ball hit sharply to Shaner, gets away from him. And what a throw, gets him at first base.
SPEAKER_04That's the throw I've been waiting waiting for from Shaner at third base. Just a rocket across the field.
SPEAKER_17Two great plays there by Healand in that inning. West is able to push one across. They have a 7-4 lead as we head to the top of the fifth. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_01You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Ponka Sioux City, and KOIA Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_17To the top of the fifth inning. Healing trails this one seven to four. They will send Erickson, Caleb LaFaver, and Shayner to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Serving Master of Sioux Land, Sioux Body Shop, and Sioux City Musketeers. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_02Leading off number 12, Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_17Erickson was at the plate whenever Hope was thrown out of third last inning, so he'll lead off for Healing here in this inning. Here's the pitch. He hits that off the third baseman's glove. He kicks it toward the shortstop, and Erickson is on. That would have been a tough play either way. Erickson on with the single there.
SPEAKER_04That's one of those two hot to handles, Mike. You got to give him a hit all the way on that one.
SPEAKER_18Up next, number 10, Caleb LeFaver.
SPEAKER_04He just smoked that thing.
SPEAKER_17That will bring Caleb LeFavre to the plate, and Hendricks Heaton heads out to pinch run for Erickson. Washburn back on the mound. Start this inning. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04One thing for Heaton is he's gonna have a lot of experience on the base pass by he's even a freshman, Mike.
SPEAKER_17No doubt about that. Kind of the Dill and Nap of this year because Billy had a lot of that last year. Here's the windup in the pitch. Caleb turns on that. Right fielder makes a great jumping play out there. That was hit almost exactly the same spot that Caleb hit at the last time up.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, good play by the right fielder. He just, you know, he just got that thing a little bit lower than last time. Line drive, and outfielder didn't have to move a whole lot. But still good play by the young man.
SPEAKER_17That'll bring Schainer to the plate. Healing Trails 7-4, top of the fifth inning, one out. Hendricks Heaton at first base. Pinch running for Peyton Erickson. Washburn looks over.
SPEAKER_04Boy, we've hit the ball hard off of Washburn here last. Probably inning and a half.
SPEAKER_17We're just not putting it where we need to put it every time.
SPEAKER_04No, no. We're hitting it hitting it where they are instead of where they aren't.
SPEAKER_17Here's a pitch by Washburn.
SPEAKER_04Nice.
SPEAKER_17That ball was fair. That hit the line, folks. Goes all the way to the fence out in left field. Heaton rambles into third. Shayner stops at second with the double. Healing has a little something going here.
SPEAKER_04One at a time, Mike.
SPEAKER_17In the top of the fifth. Runners at second and third.
SPEAKER_04Up next, number eight, Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_17With one out, brings Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Tommy did his job the last time. Same situation, Mike. Guy on third base. Tommy hits that ball deep into center field. Gets a sacrifice fly.
SPEAKER_17Gas went to follow. Lines that out. Oh, he can't gets away from the left fielder. Two runs are gonna score. Carroll on his way to second. Carroll in there with the double. Two RBIs for Tommy Carroll on that double. That makes a score seven to six here in the top of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_04Great piece of hitting by Carroll. You know, we talked about it being aggressive on the first pitch, Mike, and he came up there. And Washburn's been throwing that first pitch on the outside corner. Tommy turned on it, and just a beautiful piece of hitting.
SPEAKER_17Gaswin steps in. Pitch high, gets away from the catcher a little bit, not far enough for Tommy to advance. One ball, no strikes. Gaswind singled his first time up. Popped out to the third baseman the second time up. Opportunity to here to bring in another run. Here's the pitch by Washburn.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he took a little bit off of that. Kind of a change up, not quite a fastball. So I mean it was a good pitch. It kind of caught Gaswin looking a little bit.
SPEAKER_17One ball, one strike. Washburn checks the runner at second. Deals. That is popped up on the infield. That third baseman has made it interesting all night long with these pop-ups.
SPEAKER_04That's why you got to get to first base. You just gotta get there and stand because you know what? A routine fly ball is not a routine fly ball.
SPEAKER_17Nope. Gas went pops out at third baseman for the second time. That'll bring a pinch hitter up. That'll bring Mason Moravic up.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Up next, number nine. Mason. Yeah, two outs. Let's, you know, you're you're you're getting toward the bottom of the lineup. Here get toward the bottom of the lineup here, Mike. You know what? Do some damage. We've got two outs.
SPEAKER_17He will pinch hit for Blatchford in this situation. Should he extend the inning, Rodriguez would be up next. Washburn looks in, comes set. Here's the pitch to Mason. Another one of those that didn't do what it was supposed to do. High in there for ball one.
SPEAKER_04You know, West had a guy warming up there, but I don't see anything over there now.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, you just gotta wonder if they were just trying to kill some time. That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Tommy Carroll at second base after two RBI double.
SPEAKER_04Do your job up here, young man. Make some contact. Make some contact. Take that ball to right field. Or left field, excuse me.
SPEAKER_17Ball bounces away. Gets past the catcher. Carroll advances to third, makes the turn. Coach Taylor tells him to hold up there. He's now got a runner at third base. Two outs. We are in the top of the fifth. Crusaders trail seven to six.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it falls off.
SPEAKER_17That pitch in there for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Moravic standing stands in there from the left side. Lefty on lefty battle here. See if Mason can extend this inning and extend this at bat. Here's the pitch. Caught him looking for strike three. Healing able to push two runs across in the top of the fifth inning. We will head to the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders trail seven to six. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back, everyone. We head to the bottom of the fifth inning. West leads Healan 7-6. Rodriguez back out on the mound to start this inning. West will send Frazy, Washburn, and Ball to the plate. That's the first inning that Heal's hung a crooked number up there. And scored one run in each of the first four innings, able to push two across there on Tommy Carroll's double.
SPEAKER_04Well, if things keep going the way I think they're gonna go, Mike. Damn to no runs, and we keep working a run down. Run across, we win by we win by two, right?
SPEAKER_17We'll take that.
SPEAKER_04So let's see. Rodriguez is uh I'm sure they what they'd write, they'd like to get another inning out of Rodriguez, get him, get him into the sixth inning. Uh and for sure maybe come back with hope.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's really done an admirable job. He's healing's thrown the ball around a little bit uncharacteristically to give Wes the opportunity to score more runs than they should probably have.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's really settled down actually since the second inning.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez deals to Frazy. That ball just slow. Ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, Peyton Peyton's coming on that outside corner.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez long look in. There's a pitch on that outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike. West scored two in the first, four in the second, one in the fourth for their seven runs. Healing scored one in the first, second, third, and fourth, and two in the fifth.
SPEAKER_04Nice going same spot, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez. That ball hit out to Gas went in right field. He makes the play out there for the first out. You know, they hit one out to him earlier and he he had it and just wasn't able to hang on to it. So good comeback there by Nathan on that. Washburn steps in.
SPEAKER_04Up next, number 22, Caleb Washburn. Yeah, it'd be really nice to get a 1-2-3 inning here and get back, get our bats back in with uh, I think uh you know, bottom of the lineup, going into the top of the lineup.
SPEAKER_17He hits that ball out to Carroll in left field, takes a couple steps.
SPEAKER_04Can of corn.
SPEAKER_17Interesting, John, that last inning, one of the West High players came up to bat and his shirt was untucked, and they stopped everything, made him tuck it in. And Washburn uh half in, half out. It's untucked in the back, and they must figure, well, he's pitching and it's gonna keep doing that. So ball steps in, two outs here in the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders trail seven to six.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna leave that one alone.
SPEAKER_17Here's pitch. Nice pitch. That is popped up, and I don't see it. Peyton looks over our way, and I'm just covering my head. I don't have a whole lot up there to protect that skull, so not there's anything to damage inside, but West dugout getting a little rowdy here.
SPEAKER_04I mean, this is a big game for them. I mean, they're they're 0-7 and windless in the conference. This will be a huge win. So, you know, I mean, he's got his guys fired up over there. We just gotta match it.
SPEAKER_17One ball, one strike, the count. Oh, pitch fouled off. Brings count to one ball, two strikes, two outs here in the bottom of the fifth inning. Crusaders trail seven to six.
SPEAKER_04That kid was swinging for the hills there.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez will like to get out of this inning, and he leads off the next inning, I believe. Yeah, he does. Yes, he does. Here's the pitch. Oh, he tried to float that one in there. A little high for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04He's been calling that all night. You just don't know. Good job, Framing, by Peyton Erickson there.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Swing and a miss. Fooled him on that one.
SPEAKER_04Good job.
SPEAKER_17The ball strikes out to end the inning. We're gonna head to the top of the six. Healing trails seven to six. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_17Yeah, I appreciate everyone's support as Washburn finishes his warm-up pitches here. I want to give a big shout out and thank you to Grace Tott back in the studio. She's does an amazing job as does Jack Stevens. And Grace will be in the studio tomorrow for both games. So uh Grace is putting in as much time as we are, and she's got the harder job. So we we appreciate her very much. We couldn't do this without her. Here's the first pitch to Rodriguez. Oh wow, that was I I don't know what to say on that one. No balls one strike. That's that's that's all I'm gonna say on that one. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that ball's way up in the zone.
SPEAKER_17Washburn looks in, he deals. Rodriguez fouls that one off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's trouble. Catch.
SPEAKER_17Fouls, catcher's able to make the play behind home plate.
SPEAKER_04Boy, he calls that first pitch a strike when it's way up there. He's done that a few times. It really takes the bat out of your hands.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it makes it hard. You don't know what to swing at, and I think that's why he swung at that pitch. It was up there again. Brings Nap to the plate. One out for Healing.
SPEAKER_04Let's get this thing going here.
SPEAKER_17We're in the top of the sixth. Yeah, we need Dylan to get on and manufacture another run.
SPEAKER_04Well, he's he's just he's had a great night on on-base percentage.
SPEAKER_17JJ Hope will follow. Dylan squares around, doesn't offer. First pitch, ball, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, third baseman. He's like three feet in on the grass. Good time to smoke one down there.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Washburn. That pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Dylan did a really good job that first game taking that outside pitch to right field.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he really did.
SPEAKER_17Washburn delivers. Dylan squares, fouls that one off. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Not a bad idea. I mean, it's been a circus over here tonight at third base, so I just lay something down that way, and I mean make that kid make a play.
SPEAKER_17Yep. West has shown that they they have a hard time handling the ball. Here's the pitch by Washburn. That hits him. Hits him right in the back.
SPEAKER_04Doesn't matter how you get on, Mike. It's that you get on, right?
SPEAKER_17Hit by pitch. Dylan Knapp down to first. And that's gonna give Washburn something to think about there. You got JJ Hope up. Erickson to follow.
SPEAKER_04Dylan gave Washburn fits last time. When he got on the base, he gave him fits. He really, really bothered him when he was over there. So let's see if if that continues. Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Throws it over to first base. Dylan back in plenty of time. Didn't even need to dive back in on that one. Was able to take his two steps and get back.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's thinking about it. He's thinking about it.
SPEAKER_17Third baseman way in on the grass. Pitch to the plate. JJ out in front of that one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04That's a good ball to hit.
SPEAKER_17We're in the top of the sixth inning. Crusaders trail seven to six. Dylan Knapp on first base with one out.
SPEAKER_04See if he gives him that same pitch again. He's lucky he didn't take that one into no man's land. That thing was right down the pipe.
SPEAKER_17Dylan goes. Pitches high for a ball. Dylan in there with the stolen base.
SPEAKER_04Here we go. Ducks on the pond here, Mike.
SPEAKER_17One ball, one strike to count to JJ Hope. Erickson up next. LaFaver would follow him.
SPEAKER_04Now the game begins. Now the fun. Now you know the mind games, the game within the game. I mean, what what move does Healan make here to manufacture a run? Oh, that's a that's a balk. That's a balk. There we go.
SPEAKER_17He started his wind up and stopped because he was going to turn and throw to second. So once again, folks, I hope you're not getting tired of hearing it. Dylan Knapp's trying to manufacture a run on his own here. Got help on the balk there, but he's down at third.
SPEAKER_04This is the third or fourth time in a row he has gotten on and gotten to third with JJ at bat and still at bat.
SPEAKER_17Yep, absolutely. One ball, one strike to count to JJ Hope. Dylan with a sizable lead down there at third base. Pitch to JJ. Tries to lay off of it and can't. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04It's actually a good pitch by Washburn coming inside on JJ. I think JJ was looking to drive that thing to right and kind of just came in on it.
SPEAKER_17This is a big at bat and a big pitch here for Washburn and Hope. Here's the pitch. Got him. Swing and a miss for strike three. Dillon started and wisely retreated back. So Hope strikes out for the second out. That'll bring Ericsson to the plate. Healing trails seven to six. If Erickson can extend the inning, Lefavre would be up next.
SPEAKER_04Let's get it done with two outs. Here we go. Peyton two out baseball again, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we we need some runs with two outs.
SPEAKER_04We beat this one into the ground, but I'm telling you, it's so true. I mean, what do you what you do with two outs is huge.
SPEAKER_17Erickson from the or Washburn from the full wind up. First pitch in there, first strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Pate's got an opportunity here to Erickson steps back in. Make this new ball game.
SPEAKER_17Washburn comes at. Dylan is off with the pitch. Erickson's safe at first base.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he's hurt. And he's hurt. He's hurt, Mike.
SPEAKER_17He ran into the first baseman. Yeah. Hand.
SPEAKER_04No, he's hurt.
SPEAKER_17And he's on the ground down there, folks. Healing does score a run to tie it, but the bigger concern is Peyton Erickson down at first base.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's gonna take a little bit. Mike.
SPEAKER_17I don't know if I don't know if the throw hit him or if he ran into the first baseman's hand, but.
SPEAKER_04I think he I think he caught his leg on the base, and I'm not so sure he didn't pull that hammy or something. Yeah, there.
SPEAKER_17And you know he's gotta be hurting because he is a tough kid. Concern right now for Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, let's take a let's take a 30 second break.
SPEAKER_17We'll take a 30-second break here and we'll be back.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_17We are back here at West High. We're in the top of the sixth inning. Healon has tied this one seven to seven. Peyton Erickson is still down on the ground out near first base. Dylan Knapp was off before the delivery ever started of that pitch. And Peyton was able to put a bat on it and bunt it down the first baseline and beat it out.
SPEAKER_04And what happened after that, Mike? I'm not a hundred percent sure. I don't know if he ran in to the to the first baseman, if he was trying to avoid the first baseman, but he's he's up. Let's see.
SPEAKER_17Either way, Hendrix Heaton was gonna come in and pinch run for him, but he's being helped off. He's walking on it.
SPEAKER_04He's a little ginger.
SPEAKER_17We'll have to see if that affects his ability to come back out for the bottom of the six in the rest of the game, but more importantly, let's hope he's okay.
SPEAKER_04I saw Doc Carroll go over there. Maybe Doc Carroll's gonna take a look at him, make sure he didn't mess anything up.
SPEAKER_17Caleb LeFavor will step in here. Again, Healing has scored in every inning of this game. One run in each of the first four innings, scored two in the fifth, and they've scored one here in the sixth. There's two outs. Hendrix eating at first base. LeFaver has hit the ball really, really hard this game. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he just missed it.
SPEAKER_17That's trouble. That's trouble. That's gonna drop. Hendricks on his way to third. Oh. Folks, he was in there. Umpire was behind the play. Called him out.
SPEAKER_04You have got to get in better position than that to make that call.
SPEAKER_17Healon scores. One run to tie it. Heaton thrown out at third base. We will go to the bottom of the sixth inning. Score tied 7-7.
SPEAKER_04Well, let's let's see here. See who they bring out, Mike.
SPEAKER_16We'll be back. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back to West High. We're headed to the bottom of the sixth inning. It's Bishop Healing 7, the West High Wolverine 7. Rodriguez is out finishing his warm ups. Still haven't seen Peyton Erickson come out.
SPEAKER_04He's coming, like, he's a tough kid, folks.
SPEAKER_17He is a really tough kid. Getting a round of applause from all the parents and John and I. I don't think there's I know the Freylant kid's a competitor, but there's no one that had a bigger smile on his face than him when he realized he didn't have to come in and catch. He'll get his chances. He will definitely get his chances, but uh Peyton's back out there.
SPEAKER_04I kinda like, I mean, it would have been I'd like to see Ryden get get an opportunity to catch. Not not in these circumstances, though. You know, I want to see Raiden get a chance to do that catching uh like maybe uh you know in an extra game, like maybe tomorrow or something. Not in this situation. It's just good to see Peyton back out there.
SPEAKER_17Artiaga will step in to lead this inning off. Rodriguez is back on the mound to start the sixth inning here, folks.
SPEAKER_04What a tough kid.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, definitely can't say enough about the toughness of Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_04There we go.
SPEAKER_17Floats that first pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, this kid's dangerous. You know, you gotta you gotta keep the ball out of his wheelhouse. You know, I don't mind that curveball in the outside corner. I come back with it.
SPEAKER_17Or just let him hit in the air to Tommy Carroll. He's not gonna miss it.
SPEAKER_04He's not gonna miss it. Not tonight.
SPEAKER_17Wind up in the pitch by Rodriguez. Just outside for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Low and outside corner. I don't mind that. That's a good spot for this kid.
SPEAKER_17West with two in the first, four in the second, one in the fourth for their seven runs. Healing has scored one run in every inning, except the fifth when they scored two for their seven runs. One ball, one strike to Ardiaga. Here's the wind up in the pitch by Rodriguez. A pitch. Just inside for ball two, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Well, he came with a little velocity on that one. That's about as hard as I've been seeing him throw it the whole night.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. One one thing I can say and and be confident about if somehow Artiaga gets on, I don't see him stealing.
SPEAKER_04No. No. I would uh venture to say that's a good guess.
SPEAKER_17That pitch in there for strike two, two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04He uh he he packs a lot into that about five-nine frame.
SPEAKER_17Yes, he does. He might be deceptive though.
SPEAKER_04No, he's a strong looking kid. I mean, I mean that sincerely.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Yeah, bounces in there for ball three, three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Here we go. I mean, this is that situation. I mean, you gotta come back. You gotta come at him here, Mike. This is how they got that big run started the last the last time. I think he he led off.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch by Rodriguez in there high for ball four. Hardiaga draws the walk. He's down at first base. That will bring Wolf to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Not so sure they won't bring they won't bring in a pinch runner for uh yeah, they're bringing in a pinch runner for the first one. Braxton Wolf. Yeah. Well, maybe they're not. Got the game stopped here. It looks I thought they were gonna bring in a yeah, they are. They're bringing in a pinch runner for him. A number five, it looks like here, Mike. No, number eight, number eight. Yeah.
SPEAKER_17We haven't been able to get rosters for the last couple games, so makes it tough for us to keep you folks up to date with what's going on in terms of who's in the game and who's not. So Wolf will step in. Runner at first base with no outs. We're tied here in the bottom of the sixth inning, 7-7. Runner takes off from first, bunted out to Rodriguez, fields it, throws to Blashford at first for the first out. Runner advances to second on the sacrifice. So West has a runner at second base with one out. That will bring Coyle to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's a good small ball hit. Up next for the Will Greens. Number 23 bit. For the West, they're trying to get that run. It looks like they got somebody over there warming up, Mike, to come in in the seventh.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. Coyle doubled his first time up, singled his last time up. He scored two runs tonight. Rodriguez delivers. Swing and a miss by Coyle for strike one. No balls, one strike. That was a huge cut.
SPEAKER_04He was swinging for the fence on that one.
SPEAKER_17Looks like he hurt his knee a little bit there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's giving us he's giving us fits. Got some wheels. Um he's taking taking his time here.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez a long look in. Wind up in the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, one strike. Good job by Peyton to get up and keep that from getting to the backstop.
SPEAKER_04I mean, you gotta come at him here.
SPEAKER_17Got a pinch runner out at second base. One out.
SPEAKER_04Come back on that outside corner. That's where Peyton's going.
SPEAKER_17Swing and a miss by Coyle for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Got a 7-7 game here in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SPEAKER_04Big pitch here, Mike. Big, big, big at bat.
SPEAKER_17It is a big at bat, big pitch. When healing comes to bat in top of the seventh inning, it'll be Shaner, Carroll, and Gaswin.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the uh Rodriguez looking in, comes set.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. That ball. Hit out to Dylan Knapp in center field. He runs under it, makes the play.
SPEAKER_04Why that why that kid wasn't tagging up on that?
SPEAKER_17That was a well-hit ball out to center field. Dylan with his feed was able to chase it down and make the catch for the second out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's up next, number three, Turner Joy. Dylan would not have had a chance at him at third base. The kid gets back to second, tags up, and I don't know why he wasn't tagging on that.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Dillon was running away from home.
SPEAKER_04He was 20 feet out.
SPEAKER_17And I meant home played. I didn't mean he was running away from home.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17But there was no way he would have made a play at third base. Rodriguez looks in. Here's a pitch. There we go. That pitch is in there for a strike. We got that high strike that time, John. No balls one strike to Joy.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Been called all night.
SPEAKER_17This is a big pitch here, or the big out here if we can get it, because Markowski comes to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, he's he's been hot, you know, and we want to avoid him. Let's see what A-Rod can do here.
SPEAKER_17A Rod takes his time, delivers. That pitch is high. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Alright, come back up in on him. Now sneak that thing on the outside corner, Mike. Got him back on his heels. He's come inside on him twice. And you know, sneak one on the outside corner on him.
SPEAKER_17If Heal's wearing gray again tomorrow, Peyton's mom's gonna have to watch that uniform because it is filthy, folks.
SPEAKER_04Got another pair of pants, hopefully.
SPEAKER_17He is a commercial for a laundry detergent. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04That's a good pitch, though. That's a good pitch. Low on the outside corner. Now you gotta fight back here. You know, you can you gotta fight back two and one. I call this the count being even.
SPEAKER_17So two balls, one strike, two outs. Runner at second base, seven to seven, bottom of the sixth inning. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Bounces that one in there for ball three. Three balls, one strike. High drama here at West High tonight, folks.
SPEAKER_04Now you can do it. You can do it here. Don't lose him. Come back. He's gonna be looking for a fastball, something in his wheelhouse, you know. I mean, we got an empty base over there, and I know Markowski's coming up, but Rodriguez looks in, delivers to the plate.
SPEAKER_17Swing and a miss for strike two. Three balls, two strikes. Two outs. Runner at second base. Score tied seven to seven. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning. Huge pitch here for both teams, John.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, Rodriguez gets got a battle here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez steps off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Peyton. Peyton told him to back off. They got something going on here. Coach Coach changing the changing the play here. Changing the pitch, excuse me.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez looks in. Deals to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_17Just fouled off. Oh. Off Peyton's mask. So he's taking in the bottom and the top tonight, folks. It's safe to say this one cannot end soon enough for Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_04Boy, that was like one of those sucker punches, and you know, you see a kid wobble and then all of a sudden he falls back. That was like a delayed reaction. Hit him square right in the mask.
SPEAKER_17It did.
SPEAKER_04You know, the umpire really should let him catch a couple, make sure he's okay. Yeah, he's talking to him. I I'd almost let him catch a couple, but Erickson looks over the dugout for the signal.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez looks in, gets the sign. Comes set. Here's a pitch by Rodriguez. That pitch is high. Runner takes off for third. Ball gets away from Shaner. West will take the lead eight to seven. Joy draws the walk. Two outs, runner at first base. Markowski steps in. Again, very uncharacteristic defense by Healing there.
SPEAKER_04I mean, the the throw was, I mean, it was kind of a short hop down to third base, but they have him. He makes that catch. They have him at third. I mean, it's gonna be a bang banger, but you know, he just got underneath the glove and uh out in the left field. It's very unfortunate.
SPEAKER_02Next, number two, Peyton Markowski.
SPEAKER_17Pitch high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning. Crusaders trail, eight to seven. They'll have their work cut out for them when they come to the top of the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez delivers that pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, good catch.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez comes set. Markowski fouls that off. Brings a count. One ball, two strikes. Markowski has reached base every at bat this inning or this game.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah, he's a good hitter. Makes good contact, got good speed. Dangerous at bat. I mean, this is a dangerous batter. Got two outs, one to get out of this inning.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez comes set. Runner takes off from first. That ball is hit down the third baseline, just foul. Count will remain one ball, two strikes. Bottom of the sixth inning. Wolverines eight. Crusaders seven.
SPEAKER_04Well, one thing you can say about uh about West is the coach is not shy. He is aggressive. They have they have taken off, I mean, several times.
SPEAKER_17Well, and A Rod really doesn't do a whole lot to try to hold the runner on, so he takes off again. Another pitch fouled off.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he had a huge jump on that. You gotta come over and keep him honest here a little bit.
SPEAKER_17One ball, two strikes for Markowski. Rodriguez looks in. Comes set, throws over to first. Bladford puts a tag on Joy. Just able to get back in.
SPEAKER_04Shout out to my sister Mary Claire out there in Cincinnati. She's listening to us, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Man, she's up really late, aren't they? An hour ahead of us out there.
SPEAKER_04She's a gamer.
SPEAKER_17Good for her. Rodriguez, another long look in. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high. Runner takes off. Bounces away from Hope. Runner unable to advance. To third. Good. Joy at second base out there. Counts two balls, two strikes to Markowski. West leads this one eight to seven. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SPEAKER_04I mean, you got to keep this to a one-run game, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Two balls, two strikes, two outs. Runner at second. Markowski wearing number two at the plate. Twos are wild here. Fouls that pitch off. Count remains two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Boy, I'd come down. Come down with that slider on the inside corner. He's begging him to come inside.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez comes set. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04There we go.
SPEAKER_17Fouled. Off. And Erickson able to hang on to that for the third out. We're heading to the top of the seventh inning, Crusaders Trail, 8-7. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_14And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back to West Hide. We're heading to the top of the seventh inning, Crusaders Trail. 8 to 7. They will send. Let me flip it over here, folks. Sorry. They will send Chainer, Carroll, and Gaswent to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Now let's see if we can manufacture a couple of bringing in the leather left-hander that we saw warming up there, Mike. Yeah, we got a few more of our underwriters I'd like to get in here before before the uh first pitch here. Advanced Thompson Vision SD Pro LLC Wall of Fame Graphics Incorporated. Wellness. Do it best hardware. Two City and South Two City, Nebraska. Rems, Plumbing and Heating Incorporated. Thank you for being underwriters and sponsors of Bishop Keelan Baseball and Catholic Radio. We appreciate it. And let's go Crusaders.
SPEAKER_17We do have a new pitcher in for West High. It's Colton Polath. Another left-hander for the Crusaders to face here in the top of the seventh inning. If this score holds up, this will be a huge win for West High, though. They'll get their first win of the season and their first Missouri River Activities Conference win of the season.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, let's see what it looks like he's got a little velocity, Mike. He's bringing it in pretty decent. Yeah, he's been warming up there. He warmed up there earlier in the game, and we thought maybe they'd be bringing him in and and they held back. And and uh looks like they're gonna use him to close. And now either he's their closer or Washburn's just coming close on pitches, or or is it his pitch count for you too?
SPEAKER_17Gotta wonder what the reason for the change is, but uh doesn't matter who's out there, we've got to hit the ball and we've got to score runs.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17So that bodes well. We just need to get one or two here in the top of the seventh to either tie this game or take the lead.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, here we go. Number three, Brodie Shaner.
SPEAKER_17Shaner will step in here. He's hit the ball really hard tonight.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, let's see if he can sneak one down here.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Way outside. Pitch way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. A little uncomfortable there, John. I wasn't sure if that was going to be called a strike or not.
SPEAKER_04Tonight, you just don't know. And he did not clean the plate off, so.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. That pitch inside, the call to strike. One ball, one strike. Can't wait to be back at Bishop Mueller tomorrow where we're behind home plate and we can actually see definitely what's going on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_17We're at the mercy of the umpires these last couple nights here, folks. Nice. Shayner hits that hard to third baseman.
SPEAKER_04That was a sh that was a shot.
SPEAKER_17Bounces under his glove and out into left field.
SPEAKER_04Absolute bullet.
SPEAKER_17Shayner rockets that one down for a single. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. Had a great two-run double last time.
SPEAKER_04Tommy's had two really good at bats his last two. He flew out to center field to score that run, get the sacrifice flying, and of course he roped that one into left center, his last at bat. Let's see what he what he can do here. You know, we got to get that guy down in scoring position somehow.
SPEAKER_17Third baseman is up on the grass. That first pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike to Tommy. Healing Trails 8-7. We're in the top of the seventh inning. Schainer on first with no outs. No balls, one strike to count to Tom Carroll. Here's the pitch. That pitch high. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Well, he had he had a little velocity on that one. A little high.
SPEAKER_17Yes, he did. I wish Tommy would have dropped his bat on that one because that was high enough. That could have gone off the bat and been a foul ball. One ball, one strike. Here's the pitch. He hits that sharply out to right field. Right field is going to settle under it for the first out. Shayner unable to advance. Well, Carroll hit the ball hard. It was just right at the right fielder. First out of the inning for the Crusaders. Gaswent steps in. Popped out to the third baseman. His last two times up. Singled his first time up and scored a run.
SPEAKER_04Well, one thing for sure, he's he he's coming in for a strike on that first pitch, so this be might might be a good opportunity for Nathan to just turn on one.
SPEAKER_17Shayner takes off. Shayner in there safely at second base.
SPEAKER_04There we go.
SPEAKER_17Got a runner in scoring position here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, one way or the other, Mike. He had to get him down there.
SPEAKER_17And yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's a gutsy call. I don't mind that.
SPEAKER_17That first pitch was a ball. Gaswent steps back in. In there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Blatford will follow Gaswent.
SPEAKER_04Now he's seen him now. He's coming with him and two fastballs.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. That pitch low for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Healing Trails eight to seven, top of the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_04Normally I'd say that looked like a strike, but that's a that he isn't calling that low strike today.
SPEAKER_17Shanner on second. Second base will be the tying run. Pitcher steps off. Makes a move to second base. Doesn't throw.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's got to come in.
SPEAKER_17Shayner with a pretty good lead out there. Here's the pitch to Gaswin. Big swing and a miss by Nathan. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Just missing it. Here we go. Two and two. Big at bat.
SPEAKER_17Two balls, two strikes, one out. Shaner at second base. He's a tying run. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_04Oh no.
SPEAKER_17Nathan got caught looking on that one. For out number two. That'll bring Blatchford to the plate. He'll be followed by Rodriguez if Blatchford is able to extend the inning.
SPEAKER_04I thought that pitch was a little up, but like I said, you know, they've been calling that all night, and unfortunately. Kind of a tough spot to be called called out on a strike three there. Come on, Beckett.
SPEAKER_17Shayner out there at second base. That first pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04Now that you're gonna come through. This is this will be the guy. Here we go. Come on, Beckett.
SPEAKER_17Blatchford in there from the left side. Looks at that one for strike two. No balls, two strikes, two outs. Shayner at second base. He would be the tying run. Healing Trails eight to seven. We're in the top of the seventh. Here's the pitch. Just outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_04Thought maybe he was gonna ring him on that one, so here we go. We got another chance.
SPEAKER_17I mean live to see another day on that one, Beckett. Here's the pitch by Porath. Outside for ball two, two balls, two strikes. Shanner at second. He's the tying run. Two balls, two strikes, two outs. Healing trails eight to seven. We're in the top of the seventh inning. Here's the pitch. Another pitch way outside for ball three. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Rodriguez would be up next if the inning is extended.
SPEAKER_04Here we go. Full count. Game's on the line here, Mike.
SPEAKER_17A lot of pressure on both these kids. Pitcher and Blashford at the plate. There's the pitch. That pitch is high and outside for ball four. Healing has runners at first and second with two outs.
SPEAKER_04Well, you you couldn't ask for a better situation for Rodriguez. Here you got a chance to be the hero, you know, and knocking uh in a run and tie the game. And help yourself at the same time, huh?
SPEAKER_17Absolutely. He's done an admiral job pitching tonight. And he comes up with a chance to extend this game, uh, possibly tie it. Got Shaner out at second, Blatchford at first. Rodriguez steps in. Two outs, top of the seventh inning. Healing trails eight to seven. Here's the first pitch to Rodriguez. Bounces in there, gets away from the catcher. Both runners will advance. Shayner at third. Blatchford at second. One ball, no strikes the count to Rodriguez. Healing has a tying run at third, the go-ahead run at second. One ball, no strikes to Rodriguez. Big chance here for this young man. And here's the pitch. That pitch just low for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04If I'm not mistaken, Mike, I think that's six straight balls on this young man. I think he had Beckett only two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Both runners with sizable leads out there. Here's a pitch for Rodriguez. Pitch is high for ball three. Dylan Knapp would be up next. Three balls, no strikes. Runners at second and third, two outs. We're in the top of the seventh. Crusaders trail. Eight to seven.
SPEAKER_04Yep, two out baseball, Mike. Two out baseball.
SPEAKER_17Looking for a chance to extend this inning.
SPEAKER_04I would venture to say he uh does not have the green light here with three and oh count.
SPEAKER_17Well, let's hope it's ball four and it's pass ball.
SPEAKER_04I hope so. I hope so. Any way to get a run in.
SPEAKER_17Porath looks in. Here's the pitch to Rodriguez. That pitch is in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_04Ball's up.
SPEAKER_17Three balls, one strike. Two outs. Runners at second and third. Healing Trails 8-7. We're in the top of the seventh. Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Tying run at third. Go ahead, run at second. Shayner at third. Blatchford at second. Porat deals. Rodriguez hangs in there, fouls that straight back. Three balls, two strikes. We're able to extend the inning. Dylan Knapp would be up next. Here's the pitch. Rodriguez fouls that off over our head. He's battling tough here just like he has on the mound all night long.
SPEAKER_04Take a deep breath in here, young man. He's gonna come with you. Full count.
SPEAKER_17Here's the pitch. Pitch is high for ball four.
SPEAKER_04Good at bat by Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_17Crusaders have loaded the bases. Absolutely Dylan Knapp steps to the plate. If he's able to extend the inning, he'd be followed by JJ Hope. Third base coach is gonna come down and have a conversation with Dylan. Gonna put something in motion here. I'm sure West is saying they're gonna we're gonna they're gonna try a suicide squeeze here. Third baseman runs over and is telling everybody what he thinks is gonna go on. I don't know, John. I think that would be a huge gamble with Shayner in third base.
SPEAKER_04You know the way Dylan's been been swinging the bat, this doubleheader, Mike actually the last two doubleheaders. Um the way he's been swinging tonight, especially. I I I'd almost let him swing away. And and and I get the suicide with his wheels, and you got a left hander over there. Uh you put that ball down to third base. I mean, this third baseman has I don't think he's fielded the ball clean all night. So let's see what they got.
SPEAKER_17Base is full of Crusaders here in the top of the seventh inning. First pitch in there to Dylan is a strike. Healing trails eight to seven. Rodriguez at first, Blatford on second, Shayner at third. Oh my god. Shayner steals home. Oh my god. Ball gets away from the catcher. I'm telling you, John, that that is some gutsy stuff right there.
SPEAKER_04I tell you what, Coach Taylor. Coach Taylor had that. Uh if that was his call, that is about as gutsy as a call as I've seen. Folks, he just he literally just took off from home. Nap got out of the way, and the catcher bobbled the ball. He slid underneath.
SPEAKER_17I'm guessing that was that pitch was no, it was a strike. No balls, two strikes. Runners at second and third. We are now tied eight to eight. Dylan drills that ball between first and second. Out to right field. One run scores. Here comes Rodriguez. Rodriguez scores. Dylan Knapp with the two-run single. Healing leads this one 10-8. Great job of hitting by Knapp there.
SPEAKER_04Remind me to talk to Coach Taylor after the game because I'm telling he and I, we talked and we were talking about Dylan keeping that head in. And whatever they did in the in in between when I talked to him and the North game, let me tell you, he is just right on. And he's taking that ball to right field just like you, just like you want him, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Absolutely.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Gotta wonder if Dylan's gonna be off here. First pitch to JJ is in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_04Hey, and by the way, two outs. All done. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17It's it's finally worked for us. Hey, throw over to first. Dylan's able to get in there. The throw from the first baseman is high. Dylan takes second base. Well, John, a couple of my daughters said, Are you gonna get more excited this year when you're doing baseball? I'm telling you, this game here has got me amped up. I don't know if I'm gonna go home, be able to go home and go to sleep. We were gonna get home early, John, and now I'm not gonna be able to get to sleep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_17That pitch in there for strike two. Gets away from the catcher just a little bit, but not far enough for Nap to advance. Healing has scored three runs this inning to take the lead 10-8. Pitcher looks back. That ball bounces in there. JJ does a good job of playing jump rope there, gets gets away from it.
SPEAKER_04You know, funny thing earlier in the game, I was looking at West. I was looking at the put that he's using. It looks like it's a brand new put. And he he's he was having trouble squeezing it. Actually, he's been having trouble squeezing it all night. On that suicide to home, that ball popped out of his glove.
SPEAKER_17JJ Hope lines that out to right field. Right at the right fielder for the third out.
SPEAKER_04Just a rope. Another rope. Good piece of hitting by JJ. Just hit it where he was.
SPEAKER_17Crusaders score three in that inning. Take the lead 10-8. We're gonna keep it here.
SPEAKER_04I'll talk to you after the game. I'll talk to you after the game.
SPEAKER_17Coach Taylor's over here giving us his insight. We're gonna head to the bottom of the seventh. Crusaders lead this one 10-8. West will send Barker, Frazy, and Washburn to the plate. To try to extend this game. Again, Rodriguez is back out there for to start this seventh inning.
SPEAKER_04Why not? You know what? Let the young man win it.
SPEAKER_17I mean Absolutely, he's he's worked hard. And there that his last at bat was a huge pressure at bat. I mean, it's he's he's done an admirable job pitching tonight. His defense hasn't always helped him, but he's been able to hang in there and settle down. And now he's got a chance to get a complete game win. That'd be two complete game wins tonight for Crusader pitching.
SPEAKER_04Well, this is exactly what Coach Welshman I'm sure was hoping. You know, I and and we still gotta get through this thing. Let's let's not let's not uh put put the horse, you know, cart before the horse here. You know, we gotta get through this, we gotta get the win, but I mean this is exactly what I'm sure he was hoping to get out of this. Get two wins, not have to go deep into his pitching, and and get what he could out of the favor and Rodriguez, and and obviously he's gotten that tonight.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I'm the coaching staff has got to be thrilled with with what they've gotten out of Rodriguez tonight. They've been able to go two games and only use one pitcher each game.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I can't get over the aggressiveness. Can't get over the aggressiveness of our base running these last two two doubleheaders.
SPEAKER_17I mean, this is the fifth game for this team since Monday. Wind up by Rodriguez. Here's the pitch. In there, high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know the question that you have is how long do you how long's the leash here? You know, do you let him go out to out and get Sky on base? Do you bring someone else in?
SPEAKER_17Here's the second pitch. That pitch is high for ball two, two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_04I'm just gonna say Pete needs to go out and settle him down right now. I mean, we got two and oh, you don't need to you don't need to put anybody on here. And if they're gonna get on, make them earn it.
SPEAKER_17We're in the bottom of the seventh inning, folks. Healing scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-8 lead.
SPEAKER_04Just some pressure, two out at bats by the Crusaders. And and if they come away with this win, uh let me tell you, that's that's just some excellent baseball in the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_17West is better than their record shows, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Beautiful JJ Hope. That ball was popped up right over the pitcher's head. JJ runs in, scoops it up, and makes a throw to Blatchford at first for the first out.
SPEAKER_04Well, that just was in a weird spot. That would have what a you had to have an almost perfect play on that easy to make that.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, even as good as JJ is at making those plays, it had to be perfect for him to be able to get that out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, perfect bounce.
SPEAKER_17That'll bring Frazy to the plate. One out. Healing leads 10-8, bottom of the seventh inning. Here's the pitch. That ball bounced to Shayner at third. Not able to make the play. Frazy is on with the single. That will bring up Washburn. West has a run around first with one out. They trail 10 to 8 here in the bottom of the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they had a little bit of a screw. Number two, Caleb Rushman. You know, like a screw ball a little bit, Mike. When it hit the ground, it kind of just a little jab to the right, just caught him off.
SPEAKER_17It sounded like it was off the plate.
SPEAKER_04I almost thought it hit him, but on his foot, but maybe it didn't.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it definitely sounded like it hit something other than just the dirt. Runner takes off from first. Erickson throws down. He's out! He's out, folks.
SPEAKER_04Beautiful throw.
SPEAKER_17Beautiful throw and tag. Beautiful throw and tag on that. Erickson.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Erickson to hope.
SPEAKER_17Perfect throw, perfect tag.
SPEAKER_04You know what? I mean, you gotta he gotta give the West Coach uh kudos here. He's been doing it all night, Mike. I mean, he's not changing his plan.
SPEAKER_17First pitch was a strike to Washburn. No balls, one strike. Two outs.
SPEAKER_04Washburn pops that up.
SPEAKER_17Erickson gingerly goes back to the backstop to try to make the play. Ball's out of play.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I still think he's he's got no balls, two strikes to Washburn. He's got a little something going on with that right knee, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Healing scored one in each of the first four innings. Scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth, three in the seventh to take a ten-eight lead. Rodriguez trying to finish this off. No balls, two strikes, two outs. Long look in. Rodriguez with the windup. There's the pitch. Bounces that behind Washburn. One ball, two strikes. He's entitled to waste one there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's that's not a bad pitch. I mean, I'm just trying to keep that curveball down and out. Make him chase something. Good waist pitch.
SPEAKER_17Rodriguez, another long look. He starts his windup. There's the pitch. And that hits Washburn. Washburn headed heads down to first base. Strong assumption here that there will be a pinch runner.
SPEAKER_04Up next, number three. I'd be shocked if they don't. You got to put somebody over there that's got some speed around the bases. I'd be surprised.
SPEAKER_17Ball steps in. I mean Washburn's staying out there. Yeah, he is. Doesn't look like they're getting anybody ready to pinch run for him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm kind of surprised at that. Rodriguez has got to be getting close to his pitch count here, Mike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's he's got to be getting close. They're giving him every opportunity to get a complete game here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_17Washburn at first. Two outs for the Wolverines. They trail 10-8. Bottom of the seventh inning. Swing and a miss by Vall for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_04You know what, Meg? Just put it there. Let it let him hit. Let our defense do the work.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, just hit a nice ground ball to JJ out there at shortstop. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. That ball hit down the first baseline to Blatchford. Foul.
SPEAKER_04Boy, that was close.
SPEAKER_17Again, from our angle, it's hard to tell. Yeah, that was really close. No balls, two strikes. It had to have hit the ground foul at some point because Blatchford was in fair territory whenever he fielded it.
SPEAKER_04Well, yeah, I think I think his he was over there. His glove was over by the red part of that base. I forgot they had that safety base over there, don't they, Mike? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_17No balls, two strikes, two outs, bottom of the seventh inning. Wolverine's trail, 10-8. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Just low for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Peyton wanted that one. Peyton really wanted that. Look over at Kathy LaFaver. She looks more nervous this game than she did whenever Aiden was pitching. That got a chuckle out of her. And she agreed she is more nervous. Here's the pitch by Rodriguez. Swing and a miss for strike three. Rodriguez, the complete game win. What a comeback by the Healing Crusaders. Great job tonight by Healing. We're going to keep it here and do our post-game show. John, what do you got to say about this one?
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh. Mike, where do I begin? I mean, we've seen a few things tonight that I didn't think I'd see. We've seen a turkey fly onto the field, number one, right? I mean, do you ever think we see that? But the aggressiveness by Healing, two suicide squeezes, uh stealing home. I I haven't seen that. Kudos off to if Coach Taylor's the one that called that or Coach Wesselman, whichever one, doesn't matter. Aggressive base pass, all done with two outs. Yeah. By the way. All of it done with two outs. And I know we've been preaching about the two-out baseball, but Coach Wesselman brought that up, you know, in in the dugout, that they have to play better defense with two-out baseball. And here we do the damage on our side of it on the offensive end. Just a great job and gutsy performance by Alex Rodriguez out there. He had command after that second inning. He really did pitch a wonderful game. Only giving up one run after that second inning. And then, of course, Peyton Erickson, what can you say? I mean, the kid took a beating uh in two games tonight. And for him to come back after that collision at first base and finish that out, uh, can't stand off.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, absolutely, and I agree with you. And you talk about aggressiveness too. You have to take your hat off to the West High Wolverines. They weren't shy about being aggressive on the base pass and you know, running every opportunity they got, and they gave Healan everything they wanted in game two and and made it tough, made it interesting. And that's this is gonna be this is the fifth game since Monday for these Healing Crusaders, and they've got two more to come back and play tomorrow at 10 o'clock and four o'clock. So they've got to be gassed, they've got to be spent, but you know, they've they've got pride for a reason, and and they showed it in in this second game. They could have very easily laid down whenever they got when West had those six runs, and and Healing just fought back, scored a run in every inning, at least one, uh, hung a crooked number a couple innings, and and uh able just to end this on a great note, two great pitching performances tonight, two complete games.
SPEAKER_04And these are those setup games, Mike, that you know you're you're six and oh in the conference, you have a chance to go to eight and oh, but you're playing the bottom of you're playing the bottom team. How easy is it to kind of get complacent? And we saw that a little bit tonight with the Crusaders. You you know, they got a little complacent, but battled back when they had to, and these are two two wins that maybe. At the end of the season, when it comes down to the conference, these two games you might be looking back at and saying, you know what? We gutted two out where we could have very easily have lost these.
SPEAKER_17Absolutely, absolutely. Big thank you to Grace Totten the studio. She's done a fantastic job through this double header. And we're gonna get off the air so Grace can go home and get some sleep because she's gotta be back in tomorrow at 9.15 or so. Grace, you text me and let me know when you want to get there. I am not gonna bother you. You've done a fantastic job. John and I will be there all set up, ready to go, and you just tell us when you're ready. But we appreciate you, we appreciate Ann Reed, Tim Swadin for letting us do this.
SPEAKER_04And Mike, thank you again for letting me work with you. I appreciate working alongside of you. She did great games tonight.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it was great. Whenever, whenever they knew we needed a color guy, the first words out of my wife's mouth were John Tritz. And so I'm I'm glad you're here. I've had a good time, I've learned a lot from you, and we're gonna continue to grow, folks. And we'll be back tomorrow morning. Have a great evening, folks, and go Crusaders.
