We now send you straight to the action on your Catholic Radio Station channel 88.1 FM, AFHC Concasto City, K-O-I-A-Storm Lake.

SPEAKER_04

I'd like to welcome everybody to Bishop Mueller Field here this morning. A little breakfast for baseball with the Healing Crusaders as they take on Boydon Hall Rock Valley. John, it's uh a couple late nights in a row, and then we got an early morning start here.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, this this game, I was talking to coach before the game. I mean, this is this is something that, you know, you come in and and one of your your concerns is after playing so many games and and then having this early morning matchup, you know, how loose are the kids? Make sure they're stretching, you know, because this this is when you can have some injuries, Mike. Is you know, when the kids are tired, you know, muscles are tired, you know, and and you're not stretching them out. Yeah, it looks like they did a pretty good job before the game of getting that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and uh, you know, these last four games they've played, they've they've won all four of them, but uh they've been tough battles. North North really tested them. Uh West did the same thing last night. Uh West winless on the season, but they showed that uh they're gonna be a team to contend with, and they're gonna get their share of wins as the season goes on.

SPEAKER_10

You know, they're gonna look back at that double header. Uh that was one of those ones, you know, we talked to Coach Welsman before the game, and you know, very concerned about a let up in his kids uh playing down of the competition, uh all of those things that that go with uh playing a team that you on paper are supposed to be, right? And we're gonna come back and look at that and look at that doubleheader maybe later in the season when the conference is tight. We're gonna like, you know what? We got two wins, they weren't pretty, but we got them. And we did the things that we had to do to win the games.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they did. They did a really good job uh fighting through, doing what they needed to do uh to get those wins, and uh we're gonna have uh some new faces in the lineup today. Uh we'll give you Boydon Hullrock Valley's lineup. Uh they're gonna lead off with Juffer, he will be playing center field. Dreyer will be batting second, playing third base. He comes in with a batting average of 0.250. Den Hartog will be batting third, he'll be playing shortstop. He's got a robust 0.750 uh batting average early in the season here. Luvano will be batting fourth and DHing. His batting average is 667. He'll be DHing for the pitcher DeCoster. Kramer will be batting fifth, he'll be playing first base, his batting average is 0.333. Weber will be batting sixth playing right field. He does not have a batting average yet. Van Beek batting seventh left field, no batting average for him. They've only played one game, so this will be an opportunity for these kids to uh see some different live pitching. Noble will be batting eighth and catching, and Miller will be batting ninth, playing second base for the Crusaders. JJ Hope leads off playing shortstop, batting average of 419. Tommy Carroll moves up into the second spot. He'll be playing left field, batting average of 320. Caleb Lefaver in his usual third spot, playing first base today, batting average of 519. Schainer will be batting cleanup, he'll be pitching, batting average of 290. Dylan Knapp moves up to fifth spot. He's playing center field with a batting average 238. Rodriguez will be designated hitter. His batting average is 333. Harpina will be a catcher, and that's who Rodriguez will be DH'ing for. Gas went in the seventh spot. He's playing right field, batting average of 130. Vickery gets to start at third with Shaner on the mound. He is no batting average currently, but we expect that to change. And Beck will be batting ninth, playing second base, batting average of 235. Uh some of the changes are due to giving some kids rest, and we talked about it last night for those of you who were listening or weren't there. That Peyton Erickson took a beating last night.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

And immediately after the game, as as we were around the team and the coaches, the decision had been made that Peyton was going to get the day off to rest himself and and just enjoy baseball and not have balls bouncing off of him and and running into first baseman and things like that. So he's a tough kid, and I'm sure that uh deep inside he's probably glad that he's getting a break, but uh knowing the competitor that he is, he would love to be out there.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he tweaked that ankle a little bit last night, uh talking to coach before the game and in a little black and blue, and like to get some ice on it. Just give that ankle a couple days' rest, and uh I think it's a good decision. Uh let's go let's talk a little bit about uh uh Boyden Hall, Rock Valley. Uh I had a chance to talk to head coach Jacob Vanderwilt and and also their assistant coach, Cameron. And this is really their first game, Mike. I know they have an 0-1 record, but five of his starters were on the state golf team that were competing down at state. So technically, this really is his first game, and he's got his whole crew. Um he's got some kids that he'd like to highlight that he thinks might stand out today. And in Kobe uh Den Hartog, the senior, he'll be the number one hitter. Um pitcher uh JC DeCoster said the kid's really good at finding locations, and he's kind of worked on this sidearm release a little bit, and he's kind of anxious to see how that comes out in a game because he's he hasn't yet to throw. Um Lincoln Miller, a freshman who he's got really high hopes on, and uh and then uh Sage Dreyer and Eric Lurvano, both sophomores, young players that uh he's seen some really good growth on. Um like he said, he's got a catcher, Grady Noble, that has not played yet, that was at the state golf, and uh we'll solidify that uh pitcher-catcher duel.

SPEAKER_04

That's good. Well, being on the golf team, uh don't want to throw anything low to them. They they may be able to connect on that, but uh looking looking forward to seeing how the uh how they respond this first game to seeing some different pitching than than what uh you know they see in batting practice and and the one game that they have played.

SPEAKER_10

Let's look let's look a little bit at Healing's roster, Mike, and and um just highlighted a few things and we talked a little bit about it last night. Uh batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage. And we've got a few guys that just are really sticking out uh so far. You know, we go we start off with JJ Hope. You know, he gets on base uh 500% of the time, 419 batting average. He has scored 14 runs, so it's pretty it's pretty safe to say when JJ gets on, we score, obviously. Slugging percentage, uh JJ's got a 484. Go down to uh to Caleb LaFavre hitting 519, just tearing the leather off the ball. 629 on base percentage and a 667 slugging percentage, Mike, which is just absolutely incredible. He just when people are in scoring position, obviously, you know, he makes contact and knocks them in. Peyton Erickson, who won't be playing today with a 457 on base and a 400 slugging percentage. And then Tommy Carroll, who's really upped his batting average uh the last couple double headers. Uh 320 batting average, but more importantly, he gets on base 4, you know, 0.419% of the time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, great job uh with the batting order here. We're gonna take a one-minute break and we will be right back.

SPEAKER_07

Hello, listeners. I am Father Travis Crotty, the chaplain of Bishop Healing Catholic High School. As we prepare for this athletic competition with the Crusaders, we want to take an opportunity to offer a pre-game prayer, keeping in mind the safety and the enthusiasm of all sporting events for the safety of our own students and those of our opponents. Let us pray in the name of the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Thank you, listeners, and go, crusaders.

SPEAKER_11

You're listening to FM eighty-eight point one, KFHC, Ponka Sioux City, and KOIA, Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_10

We're in the Jim Morgan press box here on Rider Quick Campus. Um just listened to the national anthem. Uh Mike talked a little bit about Jim Wesselman. Uh, had a chance to talk to him before the game. And uh I mean along with the positives, we gotta also talk about the negatives a little bit and what they need to improve on. And and what he talked about was focus at the early part of the game, getting some runs across, and not waiting until that six, seventh game aurora that they've had to do the last three games to kind of spread it out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and you and I talked about that last night. We'd appreciate that as well. Uh take a little bit of stress out of it for you and I.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we've been having a little bit trouble with my microphone hearing. Uh I know Anna's gags is listening, and if you can hear me clearly, please text us and let us know. I know we've been really anxious to see Shaner throw. Shamer was supposed to throw against Harlan, and that game got rained out, and and so they had to kind of scrap him and they put him back into the rotation.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we've got Shaner out there, he's finishing his warm-ups, and we will be getting started here very shortly. A little bit of sprinkles on the way to the ballpark this morning, but everything seems to be okay now. And looks like we will get everything in today. John tells me he's a weatherman as well, and tells me this morning is the best chance for rain, and we haven't had it yet, so uh we will be back today, pre-game at 3.45 scheduled. That of course will depend on if there's any games before that that run long or finish early. But looking forward to a great day of baseball here, and it'll be interesting to see what uh Harpinaw is able to do back there behind the plate and how that affects uh what Boyden Hull does as far as trying to steal bases.

SPEAKER_10

Now, this is a huge actually it's a huge opportunity for Harpineau, and it's also a huge opportunity for Coach Wesselman to kind of see what he's got behind Peyton. And, you know, I mean, because there's going to be days you you know you want to give you want to give your starting catcher a rest, especially when it gets close to tournament time, because just because of the wear and tear on your knees, arms, just the whole ball of wax, and then this is a good chance for you know Harpineau, who's just an extremely good athlete, football player, uh, obviously going to morningside to play football, but this will be give him a chance to get out there and see what he can do.

SPEAKER_04

Temperatures a lot different than they have been the last few games that the Crusaders have played, so I'm sure they're excited about that. Healing is in their white uniforms with blue numbers, blue stripes down the leg. And Boyden Hull is in a royal blue top with black numbers and gray pants. Harpinau ready to deliver the first pitch. Here's the wind up in the pitch. In there high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he really comes with a little velocity, doesn't he, Mike?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's he does he does have velocity, that's for sure. And the wind up here. A little low. Does not uh does not pitch as quickly as some of the other healing pitchers we're used to.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, folks, we're having a little problem with my headset, so bear with us until we get this correct.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner looks in. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball three, three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, just gotta take a deep breath. Get his get his composure, get that ball, you know, where he wants it. Just he's just a little high right now on his release.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. That pitch outside for ball four. Four pitch walk for Juffer. He'll head down to first base. That will bring Dreyer to the plate. Driver steps in from the right side. Shanner checks the runner at first. Just high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Harpina since uh this is his first game catching.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, it's uh there we go. And Shayner needed that. I mean, outside corner, beautiful pitch. Uh he needed that. Uh get a little confidence here.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner checks the runner at first. Come set. Pitch of the plate. That pitch is high and inside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's you know, get comfortable out there. He's this is his first outing. He's he's uh, you know, kind of reminiscent of uh of how Caleb's first start, you know, he couldn't find the zone right away, and then once he found it, it was great.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. In there safely. That pitch in there for a strike, two balls, two strikes. Yeah, the he got a great jump.

SPEAKER_10

Absolutely. Harpinall, even with a perfect throw, probably wouldn't have got that.

SPEAKER_04

No, that would have been tough. Yeah. Jeffer in coring scoring position. Two balls, two counts to drier, no outs here in the top of the first. Come set.

SPEAKER_10

That ball fouled right back at us. Yeah, nice inside pitch. Fastball on the hands. Um really jammed him. Yeah, two and two. I mean, you know, obviously uh with Peyton you going inside out and and Harpino uh just getting used to it back here. Got a timeout here.

SPEAKER_04

Patter steps out. Now he's back in. That pitch is outside for ball three. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he tried to sneak that curveball in there on the outside corner. It's the first time I've really seen him throw that that huge hanger like that. That it's a good pitch. And uh be great, you know, if you're heading the count. Uh now we've got a battle here. We've got full count. Guy in scoring position.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Dreyer. Bounces in there for ball four. First two batters for Boyden Hall reached by a walk.

SPEAKER_18

Right, he lead the ball for the fourth stop totally.

SPEAKER_10

You know, I don't think you go long here, Mike, without going out and talking to him. And uh, I mean you want to settle him down. You don't want to you don't want to get bases loaded, no outs here, you know, because uh he's having a little trouble with his own. You want to go out, uh settle him down, get his get him taking some deep breaths, and just uh just play catch. I mean, really what it all boils down to is just playing catch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you just settle down here. Grab a different headset. Okay. John's gonna do an equipment change here, so you folks are stuck listening to me for a little bit. Shayner deals to the plate. That ball fouled out of play for strike one, no balls one strike. So Shayner ahead in the count for the first time early in this game. Boydenhall, two runners on, no outs, top of the first inning. Very early in the game, no score. Shayner delivers. Another one fouled off down the first baseline out of play. Makes the count. No balls, two strikes. Luvano would be up next. That ball hit to Vickery at third. Throw over to Lefavre at first, just gets him. Great play by Vickery.

SPEAKER_18

That will bring up the designated hitter here.

SPEAKER_10

Well, we uh changed headsets, Mike. Let's see if this is a little better. And if you can hear us back at the station, how's that coming across?

SPEAKER_04

That will bring up the designated hitter, Luvano. Boyden Hull has runners at second and third with one out here in the top of the first inning. Shamer, nice pitch on the outside corner. Swing and a miss by Luvano. No balls, one strike. Runners with the size of a lead out there. Here's the pitch. Ball hit to Beck at second. Throws a little favor at first for the out. Jeffer will score from third. Boyden Hall leads this one one to nothing.

SPEAKER_10

Beautiful play by Beck over there. Looking very smooth.

SPEAKER_04

That's the second out. That'll bring the first baseman Kramer up. Dreyer advances to third. Two outs here. Top of the first. Boyden Hall leads one to nothing. That pitch on the inside corner for strike one. No balls one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's definitely finding his zone here now, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Settling in after a bit of a rocky start. Walk the first two batters. Able to come back and get the next two.

SPEAKER_10

Last night. Last night that would have been strike three.

SPEAKER_04

Trainer checks the runner at third. Here's the pitch. Bounces away from Harpinaw. Dreyer is able to score from third on the passball. Makes a score two to nothing. So, no runners on. Two balls, one strike to count to Kramer. Bases are clear. Chance for Shaner just to focus on the hitter here. Here's deals to the plate. Ball fouled off into the Boyden Hull dug out. Two balls, two strikes. And the pitch. Just high for ball three. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes, two outs. Point and hole is pushed two runs across here in the top of the first. They lead two to nothing. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

Nice pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Ball fouled right back at John and I count remains three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Beautiful pitch on the inside corner. I mean, he's definitely uh a lot better finding his rhythm here, uh hitting his corners.

SPEAKER_03

Schayner deals.

SPEAKER_04

That ball popped foul.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's got a beat on it.

SPEAKER_04

Gas went over there to make the play. That will end the inning. Boyden Hall Rock Valley pushes two runs across. We'll go to the bottom of the first. Boyden Hall two, Healen Zero. We'll be back in 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We are back at Bishop Mueller Field, heading to the bottom of the first inning. Healan Trail Trails Boydon Hull 2-0. Healan will send JJ Hope, Tommy Carroll, and Caleb Favor to the plate to get things started here in the bottom of the first.

SPEAKER_10

I feel pretty good that we got out of that with just two uh two runs, Mike. I mean, the way that started, uh first two guys walked, um, advanced uh, you know, obviously on the stolen base, and come away with just two runs. I mean, I feel pretty good. I think Shanner's gonna settle in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he I expect a much better routing uh in the second inning when he comes back out. Pitcher just finishing his warmups here. And we will get things started. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he he feels really good about this pitcher. You know, he he said he's got this side uh side fastball we were talking about earlier, and it really hits his locations.

SPEAKER_04

Looks like he's got good movement on his breaking ball.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, yeah, he's got good movement. And and like I said, that you know, this is really for them, this is really their first game. So be anxious to see what uh what they can do. And and uh just like last night, we're gonna have to come from behind, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, they've done a good job of that. As the season's gone on, JJ Hope steps in. Get things started here for the Crusaders. Have to see if Boyden Hull's done any scouting and brings the first and third baseman in. They're both playing back. Here's the pitch to Hope. Pitch is high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, leading off. JJ's just done an extremely job getting on base, obviously. Has has a 500 uh on base percentage. Um, and when he's on, Mike, like we talked. I mean, we score.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch on the outside corner for a strike, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, looks like I'm still having a little trouble with my headset, Mike. I'm gonna I'm gonna reach around and try to find a different one.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to JJ. That pitch breaks in there for strike two, one ball, two strikes. JJ's done a good job with getting on base with two strikes. Let's see if that continues. That pitch is high for ball two, two balls, two strikes. Outside for ball three, three balls, two strikes. Count remains three balls, two strikes. Pitch to JJ. He hits that sharply past the third baseman. JJ Hope with a single to get things started for the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_18

Hope with the base hit.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Carroll to the plate. Tommy's usually down the fifth spot. He's moving up today due to some changes in the lineup. Done a really good job of hitting the last few games, putting the ball in play, and making things happen for the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_10

Well, we got a different microphone here, Mike. Let's see how this one works. And if back at the station, if you can uh hear me, uh shoot us a text real quick, see if you can hear me.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Hi to Carroll for ball one, one ball, no strikes. JJ's got a good lead over there as usual. Have to imagine at some point he's gonna be going. Here's the pitch. He goes. And they got him. Great throw, great tag. Just a beautiful throw by the catcher there, Mike. So JJ thrown out at second base. Count to Tommy Carroll as two balls, no strikes. Carroll ready to step back in. Here's the wind up and the delivery. Outside for ball three. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Tommy's made really good contact here the last four games. Really improved his batting average.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Tommy. He got him looking. Or nope, I'm sorry, strike one. Three balls, one strike. The umpire made the strike three call. Animated motion, strike three call. Fool the old guy up here. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball four. So just like Boyden Hall, Healing's able to get the first two runners on. JJ Hope was erased at second base, caught stealing. Carroll on first with one out, brings Caleb with Favor to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Well, we're on my third headset here, Mike. Let's see if this works. If not, we're gonna have to try something different.

SPEAKER_04

I think we're out after that one.

SPEAKER_10

Maybe go back to that first one. It might just be the port.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Caleb. Bounces in there for a ball. Ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Caleb's just been just been hitting the heck out of the ball. I mean, he that ball he hit last night, that hit halfway up the fence was absolutely ripped, just like that one.

SPEAKER_04

He hits that between first and second. Carroll will be stopped at second base, healing a little bit a little bit of action going here. They've got runners at first and second with one out. That'll bring Schaehner to the plate. Checks the runner at second. Here's the pitch to Brody. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Well, that curve just kind of hangs in there. I mean, you really have time to adjust. Uh like to see Brody turn on it. He's he's you know, he's capable, obviously, Mike, of putting it up on the hill.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. On the outside corner for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Carolyn'll favor out there with small leads. Here's a pitch to Brody. Oh boy, just missed. That one just missed. That was in a good spot. And of course, one half the one half of the fan base liked that call. The other half did not.

SPEAKER_10

Definitely a tough one to lay off on.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. That's high and outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Carroll at second. Lafaver at first, one out. We're in the bottom of the first. Healing trails two to nothing.

SPEAKER_10

Well, they're really holding them on. Look at that.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch is high for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Full count to Brody. Knapp would be up next.

SPEAKER_10

You know, I don't blame the pitcher for wanting that that strike. I mean, that that first or that second strike he called on him was right in that same spot, you know. So I understand the frustration, and it makes it hard for the batters, you know, when you don't know if it's going to be a strike or not.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Brody. He pops that out to right field. Right fielder settles in under it, makes the catch.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, smart decision. Fake like he was going to tag up, but uh that that ball was way too shallow uh to make that move.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. Lafavre at first, Carroll at second, two outs. Healing trails two to nothing here in the bottom of the first.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Dylan last night absolutely uh just swung an incredible bat, uh, really taking that ball to right field.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Dilly. That's on the outside corner for strike one. No ball is one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he's established that outside zone, Mike, just like just like last night. So, you know, kids are gonna have to trust.

SPEAKER_04

Looks in. Here's the pitch to Dylan. He hits that out the left field. They're gonna send Carroll from third. He's in there safely. Carroll scores from second base. RBI single for Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_10

Just a beautiful piece of running and hitting for the Crusaders. Uh Tommy Carroll is going all the way. That was a gutsy call by Coach Sitzman over there. I love it. I love aggressive baseball, and we showed it there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Lafavor is held at second. So we've got Dylan at first. Caleb at second. Two outs. Healing trails two to one. Rodriguez steps in. Designated hitter today. They throw back. Caleb just able to get in there. That was really close.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Well, you know, Caleb Lake gets a huge lead, and and uh, you know, we talked about it. He's deceivingly extremely fast with those long legs. So he gets back in a hurry.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Rodriguez on that outside corner for strike one. One bulk no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he's gonna call that tonight, boys. I mean, this is this is just deja vu last night, so you're gonna have to adjust.

SPEAKER_04

Checks LaFaver at second. Here's the pitch. Oh, just Rodriguez just fouled down the third baseline. No balls, two strikes, two outs, two runners on. Healing trails two to one.

SPEAKER_10

Of course, last night, Alex, what a huge at-bat he had against West in that second game. Or excuse me, in the first game, when he came in as a DH Mike and just slaughtered that ball over the left fielder's head.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that I wanted to say that ball had a family, but he didn't care. He just pitched way outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Did a really, really admirable job on the mound last night in that second game. Faced a lot of adversity as the game went on, but was able to battle through it and get the complete game victory.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Rodriguez on that outside corner, caught looking for strike three. So Healand's able to push one run across. We'll go to the top of the second. Healing Trails 2-1. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_15

Welcome back to Bishop Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. Got a little baseball for breakfast going here. Healing Trails 2-1 as we head to the top of the second. Boyden Hall will send Weber, Van Beek, and Noble to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, hanging with us here is uh as I'm still trying to mess with my headset here, Mike, and and uh and and get a good uh connection. And um obviously it's more important to hear you on the balls and strikes than in here some of my comments. But uh we'll we'll get this figured out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we've got all day. We're not going anywhere, folks.

SPEAKER_10

That was huge getting that one run back, Mike, like we talked last night. I mean, you just gotta nibble at it. And let's let Schaehner get in the groove.

SPEAKER_04

That ball hit back out to center field. Weber with the leadoff single. Weber will be at first. Van Beek steps in.

SPEAKER_18

Weber with the single, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's eight consecutive innings going back to last night that the Crusaders have scored a run.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, absolutely. Now it it it's crucial here that uh you know that we keep them at bay. Uh you know, first pitch in for a strike, which is a good sign from Schaehner. And uh I'm sure they're gonna they're gonna want to test Harpino here.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. First pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Yeah, West wasn't afraid to test last night. High throw over to first. Caleb Favor with that 6'7 frame, able to jump up and keep it from getting away. Throw over to first again. Healin must have the same idea that we do that Boyden Hull is gonna test Harpinaw since this is his first game behind the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Well, absolutely. I would I do the same thing if I'm the opposing coach.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch just high for ball one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, just missed, just a little bit above the belt, but uh nice pitch by Shaner. I don't mind that at all.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Shaner came in on the inside corner. Uh good job by Harpineau staying down, framing that ball on the on the uh edge of the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Caught him looking for strike three. Van Beek strikes out. That will bring Noble to the plate. Weber at first, healing trails two to one here in the top of the second. Everybody says we're fine. Schaener comes set. Yeah, steps off, runner at first, doing a little dancing out there.

SPEAKER_10

No, not bad. Not bad. I don't mind that. You know, take a step back, get get a deep breath. He's he's finding his groove, Mike, and and starting to settle in.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice outside corner pitch.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch fouled back. Strike one, no balls one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I'm sure it was a little nerve-wracking for Shayner. This first start for Bishop Healing, uh, transferring over from Lawton Brownson. So uh, and you know, this is something he's been looking forward to, so looks like he's starting to settle in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like we talked about, it's one of those weeks seven games in five days. Runner goes from first, in there safely. That pitch was in there for a strike, no balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Zach had a little trouble uh getting a hold of the ball, kind of bobbled it and fell out of his uh put there. Um a little upset it himself here now. Key to keep him away from third base here.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Brody.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, nice pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Just inside for ball one, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Boy, I like that coming in. You know, obviously a little bit inside, but man, you know what? That that gets you thinking as a battery uh maybe you can sneak something back right on the outside corner here.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner taking a long look in here. Here's the pitch. Just outside for ball two, two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

It's exactly what he needed to do. Come back on that outside corner, and not so sure uh why that wasn't called, but you know what? Here we go.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you could see Brody wanted that one. Here's delivery. Nice pitch. Fouled right back. Back at you, John. Good thing there's a net. You'd had to use those cat-like reflexes that you had back when you were a catcher.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. Barn cat quick, Mike. Oh.

SPEAKER_04

Weber at second with one out. Boyden Hull leads healing two to one here in the top of the second. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike three. Good pitch. Second strikeout of the inning for Brody. That'll bring Miller to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Right up at the hands, Mike. That's a tough pitch to hit. You get that ball up around the fist. You know, those guys are uh when when that swing comes across, it's tough to catch up with it.

SPEAKER_04

Brody getting a lot more comfortable out there here in the second inning. Deals. Just low for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Good job, Zach. Harpenod did good job keeping that ball in front of him. Not allowing the runner to advance to third.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Zach, he's tough as nails. Playing linebacker at Morningside, hopefully, here in the next year or two.

SPEAKER_04

Shanner checks the runner at second. Here's the pitch. Pitch way outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Back to the top of the order. Should Miller get on. It would be Jeffer who would be up next.

SPEAKER_10

I want to lose this guy. I got two and oh. We gotta come back here. I know we got an open base at first, but uh two outs. I mean, we this is important for Shayner to come through this unscathed.

SPEAKER_04

Brody delivers. That pitch in there for a strike. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Good follow-through by Brody. Uh you know, when you see that arm come across and end up down by that left knee, I mean that's just beautiful follow-through.

SPEAKER_04

Very deliberate between pitches. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Come on, boys.

SPEAKER_04

Ball gets away from Brody. JJ runs in to scoop it up. So two balls, two strikes, two outs for Boyden Hall here in the top of the second. They he lead Healen two to one. Schaener comes set. And here's the pitch. Runner goes. Swing and a miss for strike three. Three strikeouts in the inning for Brody. That will end it. We will head to the bottom of the second. Healing Trails 2-1. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_04

We are back, and folks, the last two breaks we have heard commercial for Sneaky's Chicken and Bob Rows Point After North End Zone. So might have to make some decisions about what I'm going to have for lunch between games.

SPEAKER_10

I brought a bar. I thought we were going to have a donut here, Mike, and uh got too busy talking to the coaches. We're gonna have to sneak one in. Let's talk a little bit about our underwriters and our sponsors for Bishop Healing Baseball, Catholic Radio, Bargain Center, Sioux City, Barkley Asphalt, BCU's Catholic Connection Scholarship, Bob Rose Point After, and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, Catholic Charities, and Central Bank Sioux City, Storm Lake. Thank you so much for sponsoring Bishop Heeland Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_04

Gaswind steps in.

SPEAKER_10

Let's keep this streak going, huh, Mike?

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. Pitch on that outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice pitch by the young man from Boyden Hall hitting that outside corner.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch bounces in there for ball one. One ball, one strike. Healing trails two to one. We're in the bottom of the second. Boyden Hall scored two runs in the first. Healing scored one in the bottom of the first. Here's the pitch. Grounded out to the second baseman.

SPEAKER_10

He bobbles it. There we go.

SPEAKER_04

Nathan is going to reach base.

SPEAKER_10

Doesn't matter how you get on, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. And wonder if we're going to get a chance to see that gas went speed that we saw last night when we went from first to third.

SPEAKER_10

You know, I'm hoping the I'm hoping the third base uh coach called that. I think he went on his own.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm I'm guessing too. And but we all know what kind of a gambler that uh Coach Taylor is. He showed that last night with that suicide squeeze. So there's he may have told him to go. Jackson Vickery steps in for his first at bat. Pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, kind of anxious to see what this young man can do. And I think uh I think he's pitching the second game, so you know he's gonna have a busy day.

SPEAKER_04

Steps back in there from the right side. Pitcher comes set. Jackson Gas went at first. Here's the pitch. That pitch just high for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Good eye. That's a tough one not to swing at. And uh yeah, he's got himself in a good position here, two and oh. I mean, here we go. Situation baseball, two and oh. Do you hit and run? You know, we've been aggressive all year.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Right across the plate for strike one. Two balls, one strike. Beck was is due up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we talked about the damage that our bottom of the order did last night. Let's see if we can keep it going.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball three. Three balls, one strike. Catcher fakes a throw down to first. They're really worried about Nathan down there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Well, catcher proved he he's got a decent arm. Threw JJ out in that first inning.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. If you can throw hope out, you've got a good arm. Throw over to first. Gas went able to get back safely.

SPEAKER_10

You know, a lot of times stealing the base isn't necessarily off the catcher, Mike. I mean, we s we saw that last night with Ethan. I mean, you're you're stealing off the pitcher, and you're stealing off his his presentation to home plate. You know, how long does it take him? How long is his wind up, etc.? So, I mean.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

This guy gets to the plate quick.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, way outside for ball four.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he gets to the plate quick, which really helps your catcher. And uh now we're getting nice situation here. First second. It's good time for Chase to come out and and and rip a nice single to right field.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that'd be nice. Beck steps in, he'll be followed by Hope. Healing trails this one two to one. We're in the bottom of the second inning. Two runners on, no outs. Pitcher checks Gaswin at second. Deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

I lost it.

SPEAKER_04

Beck pops that up. First baseman trying to settle under it in foul territory. Makes the play. For out number one.

SPEAKER_18

Brings up the path.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I kind of kind of would have liked to seen a little small ball there, Mike. Maybe uh, you know, bunt those guys over, get them in the second and third. With JJ coming up.

SPEAKER_04

You might get that here with JJ up.

SPEAKER_10

I know you and I talk about it's kind of a lost, lost part of the game. Uh you know, we used to see it all the time when in our in our generation.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the first pitch to JJ. Just on the outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Yeah, when I was little, it was Gus ball for Cliff Gusison down to the University of Texas, and then it turned into Augie ball when uh Augie took over for the Longhorns.

SPEAKER_10

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I mean.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to JJ.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, a little outside.

SPEAKER_04

Outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Runners at first and second, one out. Healing trails two to one. We're in the bottom of the second.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's advance the runners here. JJ.

SPEAKER_04

Checks gas went at second. Here's the pitch. Way high. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, this.

SPEAKER_10

Right when I think uh this pitcher's uh got the zone down, man. He he he'll kind of unleash about three or four that are either up above the head or or four feet wide.

SPEAKER_04

Checks Gas win again at second. Deals to Hope. JJ fouls that one back, brings count to two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, you could tell he was looking to take that to right field. I mean, he was behind on that fastball. No question.

SPEAKER_04

Tommy Carroll on deck, waiting his chance to get into the batter's box and try to do some damage. Catcher calls timeout. He's gonna go out and have a conversation with the pitcher.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I like our chances here, Mike. Uh two-and-two count on JJ's good contact hitter, and and with Tommy Carroll coming up, um who's been making some great contact himself. Uh let's get another run across and extend that streak to nine, nine innings.

SPEAKER_04

Long look in by DeCoster. Checks Gaswin at second, who has a pretty good lead. Here's the pitch. JJ hits that to the shortstop. Shortstop bobbles it, steps on first or second base for the out. JJ safe at first. Vickery Vickery is retired to second base on the force out. Gaswin advances to third. JJ Hope on first.

SPEAKER_10

Now we need to manufacture a run here. We've got a first-third situation with JJ on first. He did a great job with that delayed double steal uh the other night at North. And kind of like to see, I mean, they'll give Tommy off the couple uh a couple pitches here to see what he can do. But uh, if not, I would not mind to see that again.

SPEAKER_04

Carroll steps in, JJ goes on the first pitch. They throw down, yeah. They don't get him this time, and Gaswin scores on the throw down to second.

SPEAKER_10

It's aggressive baseball. Aggressive baseball, just under the tag.

SPEAKER_04

That brings the score two to two here in the bottom of the second. JJ Hope at second base. Two outs.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good throw by the catcher. He comes down with the tag on the backside of JJ, but his hand was already had already reached the base by that point.

SPEAKER_04

That first pitch to Carroll was a strike. DeCoaster takes his time looking in. Throws back. JJ just able to get back in.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good move by DeCoster. Something we haven't seen yet this year. Just kind of a flip back without stepping off.

SPEAKER_04

At least they had guys covering the base. We've done it twice and we didn't. So it's that's true. That was a little refreshing to see. Here's the pitch. Carroll fouls that one off down the first baseline. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice cut by Tommy. You know, sometimes you can start getting in the zone, Mike. That ball looks like a softball. And I and I really think that's that's the case with Tommy right now. He's making good contact every time at bat.

SPEAKER_04

And you just know if if there's a ball hit and gets through that JJ is gonna make an effort to score from second. Here's the pitch. Yeah. Outside, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Of course, Tommy, only a freshman, but a good looking freshman. He's put on, jeez, at least 10 pounds since football. I mean, I'll have his mom correct me if I'm wrong, but he's really filling out.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, two strikes count to Carroll, two outs. Healing's tied two to two. Tommy just gets a piece of that and fouls it off at the plate. Count stays one and two.

SPEAKER_10

Of course, Tommy comes from a good family uh of athletes. Dad, mom, uh sister Colby playing on that uh number one ranked Healan girls basketball team. And then he's got a couple younger brothers that look like they're just uh gonna fall off foot there.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Carroll, way outside. Two balls, two strikes. Hope down at second. Heal's pushed one run across here in the inning to tie it two to two.

SPEAKER_10

You know what? I I look for Hope to either. I look for him to take off here in the next pitch. And he's really got a lead out there.

SPEAKER_04

Delivery to the plate. Carroll fouls that one back right at us.

SPEAKER_10

Nice piece of hitting.

SPEAKER_04

Count stays, two balls, two strikes. JJ's way off out there.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, and we wouldn't expect anything less. JJ's got some some serious wheels, and you know, and he's gonna challenge the pitcher. I mean, it gets in the pitcher's head, too.

SPEAKER_04

DeCoster looks back. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there, gets away from the catcher. JJ safely into third base.

SPEAKER_10

Nine out of ten guys are back at second base, and JJ just his his reaction to uh to anything, a bobble or whatever, is incredible. I mean, it's he gets that huge jump as soon as he sees the ball hit the dirt or bobbled by the catcher.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he gets on base that mindset that if it's a single, I'm gonna turn it into a triple. Here's the pitch. Outside corner. Carroll caught looking for strike three. That'll end the inning for the Crusaders. They're able to push one across. We go to the top of the third. Healing two, Boyd and Hall Rock Valley two. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

Heading to the top of the third here, Point and Hull 2, Healin 2. Point and Hull will send the top of the lineup to the plate this inning. It'll be Jeffer, Dreyer, and Den Hartog.

SPEAKER_10

Let's get a few more of our underwriters in, Mike. Uh sponsors for Bishop Healin Baseball and Catholic Radio. Um Christy Smith Funeral Homes, CNOS, Dr. Ryan Meese, Council Oak Supply Company LLC, Culligan, and Cybercloak Tech LLC, and Dave Pepin Real Estate LLC. Thank you again for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_04

Brody's really settled in nicely after that first inning. Boyden Hall was able to push two runs across with those leadoff walks. Settled in nicely, got three strikeouts last inning. And Jeffer was lead off led the game off with the walk and was able to come around and score. So we'll see what this next at bat, the difference in it.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, you can see it in his posture and just his demeanor at the pla at you know when he's on the mound. Uh the confidence that the young man has has built. Uh much better second inning, obviously, than the first. But he also had the ball in there consistently for strikes, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Jefford steps in.

SPEAKER_10

Jefford is right up on the plate. Come in, come inside on him.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the first pitch by Brody. Just outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

I don't mind that pitch at all. Just nice hanging curveball, and I don't think he was looking for that. Just missed it.

SPEAKER_04

Again, Shaner, very deliberate between pitches, takes his time. Here's a windup in the pitch. Just inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's that inside corner he's trying to nip. You know, don't give up on that pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Shamer deals to the plate. Yeah. In there for strike one. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Zach is also getting more and more confident back there each inning. Getting more and more comfortable.

SPEAKER_04

Shamer comes set and the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, yeah, Zach's really starting to move inside, outside. He's starting to get the hang of it and get the feel. And uh and he and Shaner are, you know, they're starting to get in rhythm together here.

SPEAKER_04

We're in the top of the third here, folks. You have time to get out here and catch some baseball, and we'll be back. Swing and a miss for strike three. That's four straight strikeouts for Shaner. That'll bring Driver to the plate. You also have an opportunity this afternoon. You can come out and catch the Crusaders as they take on West Lyon. That first pitch will be at 4 o'clock.

SPEAKER_10

And then, you know, pack a little picnic basket, have a little dinner, and then go down and watch the Crusader boys' uh soccer at the substate finals tonight at 7 at Memorial Field.

SPEAKER_04

You'll get to see John Tritz in person.

SPEAKER_10

That's right.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Pitch high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. And the Healing Girls will take on the Lamar's Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Memorial Field and their first matchup in state tournament or state playoffs. That game will be at 7 o'clock. Pitching there for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

What a program Sean Mansfield has built. I mean, you and I go back all the way to the early 2000s with him. Yeah, you know, and the amount of times he's taken a team to the state tournament.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's healing needs to get a verbo over there because he's there every year. He yeah, he can lose he can graduate a lot of kids, and you know, he and I will talk and he said if this is the year I'm gonna do it, I got to do it because I'm losing a lot of kids, and the next year he wins a state championship a couple years ago. So he knows what he's doing, he knows how to move the people around. He's got some that ball lined out to right center. Gas went over to cut it off and throw it back in. And I like to in my house, I like to say that it's the assistant coaches that make Sean look so good. My daughter Mary Kate coaches as well as Kayla Lanfear. So they do a good job with those girls. They both coach the JV and they get them ready for uh the next season varsity.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice single uh by Baldwall, by uh excuse me, Boyden Hall. Uh let's see what Shayner can do here. Situation baseball.

SPEAKER_04

Den Hartog steps in. Pitch high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

I mean, it it's almost a given they're gonna challenge Harpineau here. They've they've done it every guy they've gotten on first base.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's one of the reasons it's important to keep runners off the base pass. That ball fouled off at the plate for strike one. One ball, one strike. We are tied 2-2 in the top of the third. Dry run first after a nice single out to right center field. Brody looks over at first base, checks the runner, deals to the plate. Yeah, pitch outside for ball or for strike two, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Just a great job painting that corner. Yeah, I'm I'm surprised they they haven't moved yet, but this kid doesn't get doesn't get a huge lead over there at first, so Shanner checks him at first, throws over.

SPEAKER_04

Not a bad move. Dryer gets back safely. Count remains one ball, two strikes to Den Hartog. Luvano would be next.

SPEAKER_10

Kind of steps back, throws over there slow.

SPEAKER_04

Deals to the plate. Outside for ball two, two balls, two strikes. He keeps getting a little bit bigger, leading.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I mean they've been aggressive, so Brody comes set.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Nice. That ball fouled off toward the heel and dugout. Can't count remains two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice pitch. Something he hasn't seen. I mean, he threw him that that looper curve on the outside corner. Um, you know, he after throwing fastball, fastball.

SPEAKER_04

Brody here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, gets away from the catcher. Dryer advances to second as the ball got away from Zach.

SPEAKER_10

But got the K. Got the K. That's that's the main thing.

SPEAKER_04

That's five consecutive strikeouts for Brody. That'll bring Luvano to the plate. Dryer down at second base, two outs, top of the third, score tied two to two.

SPEAKER_10

Here we go. I mean now you now you got to get into the to their coach's head here. What's he gonna do? Is he gonna is he gonna challenge uh Harpino's arm down to third base? Um but you also don't want to take the bat out of this kid's hands. Uh just a good looking athlete, good looking hitter.

SPEAKER_04

Brody checks the runner at second. Deals to the plate. That ball aligned out the left field. They're gonna challenge it. Tommy Carroll throw to the plate. We're gonna have to play at the plate, folks. And he's out. He is out. What a what a play by Tommy Carroll and Zach Harpinaw. Beautiful.

SPEAKER_10

One hopper. Great job by Zach. Staying his ground, nabbing that and making the tag.

SPEAKER_04

We're gonna go to the bottom of the third. We remain tied two to two. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

And it it was just pointed out to us that Healand has actually scored in 11 consecutive innings. So we're gonna try to keep that, make it an even dozen here with this uh with these three coming up.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, 11 consecutive innings. We were inning off. Uh obviously we we missed one of those innings from last night, huh? But with with the batting order that we have coming up, I wouldn't be surprised to extend that to 12 here with uh Lefaver leading off.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he really got a hold of one last night. Like you said, it was off the fence, and uh that second one he drove out there was almost in the exact same spot. That right fielder was able to make a great play on it. First pitch to Caleb. Yeah. He didn't want to swing at it, but he did. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

That is something I have not seen out of Caleb yet this year. One of those uh uh oops, don't know if I want to swing or not.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he doesn't get fooled very often.

SPEAKER_10

No, no. Yeah, good, good, good call. Yeah, get get comfortable in there. Pitcher was taking his time.

SPEAKER_04

Caleb has drawn seven walks and only struck out twice this season. Here's a pitch by DeCoster. Way outside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Caleb's got 14 hits, 10 singles, four doubles, eight RBIs. As I said, seven walks and only two strikeouts. Just exactly what you'd expect out of that young man. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two, two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Let's go back to that last play. Can't say enough about Zach Harpineau and the job he did staying in there. You know, first time back behind the plate at one hopper. That was not easy to handle.

SPEAKER_04

No, we knew Tommy would probably be able to make the play. You had to wonder what the second part was going to be. Yep. Caleb fouls that sharply down the first baseline. Brings the count to two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

And like I said, he's getting more and more comfortable back there. So he channing. Come on here. Got two and two. Get that leadoff guy on here. Very important.

SPEAKER_04

DeCostro looks in. Wind up and a delivery. Yeah. Caleb fouls that off over the third base dugout. Count holds at two and two. We are tied two to two. We are in the bottom of the third inning. Brody would be next. Long look in by DeCastro. He deals.

SPEAKER_10

No. He did not.

SPEAKER_04

Caleb able to hold up on that. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

You know, I know exactly what they're thinking. I mean, his body went all the way around, but that bat, he kept that bat back on his shoulder, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Full count to Caleb. DeCoster, long look in. Wind up. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball four. Huge. Caleb draws a leadoff walk. That'll bring Brody Shaner to the plate. He'll be followed by Dylan Knapp. So Healing's got a runner at first, no outs.

SPEAKER_10

You know the other thing that you know we don't have uh Coach Taylor down there at the third calling the uh signals, and um I think he's with the JV team today. We've got Coach Sitzman, more than capable, obviously, um of also doing the same thing and been around, been with the program a few years.

SPEAKER_04

Pitch way outside to Brody. Ball one, one ball, no strikes. Flew out to the right fielder his first time up. Brody has nine hits on the season, five singles, three doubles, and the lone home run for the Crusaders. He's tied with Caleb for the RBI lead with eight.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, a chance to help his uh cause out here a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch is high. Throw down to first to try to get Lefaver. Doesn't work. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Catcher's got a quick release when he really does. Man.

SPEAKER_04

Brody's drawn three walks so far this season, has struck out eight times. Here's the pitch on that outside corner for a strike. Two balls, one strike. Two-two, bottom of the third inning. Healing looking to add to the scoreboard here.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I look for that outside corner. That's that's kind of been his go-to pitch when he gets behind. There it is.

SPEAKER_04

Another pitch on the outside corner. Two balls, two strikes. Again, Dylan Knapp due up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he he really likes that pitch at outside corner. And and be honest, it's given us fits the last couple nights.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch way high for ball three. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Lafaver at first. No outs. We're in the bottom of the third.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, almost wonder if he's gonna if he's gonna let him take off here.

SPEAKER_04

Sun's starting to come out. Here's the pitch by DeCoster. Yeah, good. Shanner pops that up out of play.

SPEAKER_10

Nice job defending the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Count remains three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, one thing we've done in the first three innings, we've made this guy throw a lot of pitches. Yeah, so he'll he'll uh he probably shouldn't have any problem getting to his pitch count.

SPEAKER_04

DeCoster checks will favor it first. Deals to the plate. On that outside corner, Brody caught looking for strike three.

SPEAKER_10

You know, it's one of those ones, Mike, where if you had a camera on it, you'd probably contest it. I mean, it's definitely outside of uh you know of the uh corner, but I mean we've seen it the last few games. I mean it's it's consistently called called in the high school ball game.

SPEAKER_04

That will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. Lafavor down at first. First pitch to Dylan is high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Dylan's really been on a streak here. Let's see if he can keep it going.

SPEAKER_04

It's tough for him to manufacture a run on his own whenever he's got someone on first base in front of him.

SPEAKER_10

Well, I I I like having him with a guy in front of him.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch way outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Yeah, it'd be nice to get a nice sharp hit and get LeFavre over to third. He stays at first, and he can take off down to second. DeCostar checks LeFavre. Here's the pitch. Another pitch way outside. Three balls, no strikes. Rodriguez do up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's he's really working that outside corner. He hasn't come inside on Dillon yet. Matter of fact, he hasn't come inside, I don't think he'll ask two batters. So, you know, step up a little closer to the plate. Yeah, and Dylan's got a nice, nice spot there.

SPEAKER_04

Deals? Yeah. That's on the outside corner for a strike. Three balls, one strike. Yeah, not a bad pitch take.

SPEAKER_10

He's got to come back at him two more times. Yeah, look for that third baseman's play on the third.

SPEAKER_04

Decaster looks over. Here's the pitch to Knapp. Fouled off. Brings a count full. Three balls, two strikes, one out. Lafavre at first. Healing and Boyden Hall are tied two to two. We're in the bottom of the third. Both these pitchers take a really long time between pitches. Here's the pitch to Dylan. LeFavre takes off. That's ball four.

SPEAKER_10

I like that move. I like being aggressive there with LeFavre. Uh, you know, I mean, that ball's in there and and Dylan connects. I mean, Lefavre, he's he's at third base, if not at home, and anything in the gap. So I don't mind that. Good aggressive baseball by Healan.

SPEAKER_04

So that's two walks in the inning, wrapped around a strikeout. Rodriguez will step in. Boydenhole was able to score a run in the first inning with after two walks. Actually, two runs in the first inning after a couple walks. So let's see if Healan can duplicate that.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's do your job here. You know, I mean, manufacture something. You got a guy in scoring position. Rodriguez is a good contact hitter. And we know what he can do when he when he connects and get gets hits the ball square on the on the fat of the bat, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the first pitch to Rodriguez. He hits that hard and shortstop. Yeah. Over to second. Second baseman bobbles it. Not able to turn the double play. Nap out at second on the force out for out number two. Caleb heads down to third, so we've got runners at first and third. Two outs. Nathan Gaswin steps in.

SPEAKER_10

Here we go, Mike. Two outs. We've done a lot of damage the last uh last five games in two outs. Let's let's keep it going. You know, Gaswin, he made contact last time to second base, got on.

SPEAKER_04

Gaswin steps in.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he knows what's coming. He's been getting it the last four games on that outside corner.

SPEAKER_04

DeCostar comes set, delivers to the plate. Rodriguez takes off. No throw down. So now we've got runners, two runners in scoring position. Rodriguez at second. Lafaver at third.

SPEAKER_10

Why am surprised he didn't throw down to second, you know.

SPEAKER_04

First pitch to Nathan was a ball. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

We did not have a great jump on that.

SPEAKER_04

Nathan with a chance here to get an RBI or two with the base hit. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two.

SPEAKER_10

I mean got a chance to open things up here. I mean, two-run lead in this game. That's that's you know, that's a good gap. I mean it'd be nice to get that lead early instead of trying to, you know, manufacture a couple of runs in the sixth and seventh.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Two balls, no strikes to Nathan. Runners at second and third, two outs. We're in the bottom of the third. Decostor deals. That pitch is just outside for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Vickery would do up next. Gaswin's able to extend the inning. DeCaster, another long look in. Checks will favor at third. Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

He must have had. I think they kind of gave him the do not swing, and that was a pitch until Nathan wanted.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, he definitely he definitely wanted to take cut at that one. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball four. That'll load the bases for the Crusaders. Brings Vicker to the plate. Getting his first start at third base. Got a chance to really do some damage here. Bases are loaded. Timeout here while Boyden Hull coach goes out and has a conversation with his pitcher.

SPEAKER_10

You know, this is an opportunity for Vickery to make his uh his mark. I mean, you know what? Everyone's battling for position, Mike. You know, nothing's guaranteed. And and this is his opportunity to get that start at third base, get some at bats, you know, and and who knows? He gets hot, starts knocking in runs. All of a sudden your playing time gets a little bit more, a little bit more. And we know he's capable. He's got a good eye, especially the first at bat.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, did a nice job. Drew Walk is first time up, forced out at second base. He'll step in here against DeCoster. We're tied two to two. We're in the bottom of the third. Base is full of Crusaders. I guess after last night we ought to call it turkeys in the field, having that turkey out in left field.

SPEAKER_10

You know, that's the game of baseball. Here's a pitch to Vicker.

SPEAKER_04

He fouls that first pitch back. Good cut there. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Two outs. Let's get it. Let's get it done. Let's extend that to uh 12 innings, huh, Mike?

SPEAKER_04

That would be nice. DeCostro, long look in. He deals to the plate. Just high for ball one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good job, Framing, by the catcher. I mean, yeah, this kid's pretty good. This catcher. And obviously they missed him the first game when they played. Yeah, he's out state golf tournament.

SPEAKER_04

DeCoster with the pitch. Nice. Vickery hits that hard to the second baseman. He fumbles it around and is able to get victory at first base for the third out. Yeah, good content. So Healing gets two men in coring scoring position, unable to push them across. We'll go to the top of the fourth, tied two to two. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We are back to Bishop Mueller Field. We're headed to top of the fourth score tide 2-2. Boynton Hall will send Kramer, Weber, and Van Beek to the plate. And the scoring streak is come to an end. John, it was 11 innings. We were hoping to push it to 12, but we'll get to the bottom of the fourth and we'll start a new one.

SPEAKER_10

That's right. One streak ends, another one begins. And uh you know, we had our opportunities, two outs, guys on second and third. We had uh victory made great contact with the ball, nice hard hit, but just right to the second baseman, and uh for them to end the inning.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Shayner has five strikeouts in the last two innings. So really settling in after a tough start.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, we talked about it. He gave up those two runs in in the first inning, and he's really really has settled in and really using the corners going inside out. And uh and Zach Carpino's, you know, I mean, again, it's his first start as well, and and he's also getting comfortable, and and and they're getting in sync.

SPEAKER_04

Brody looks in, delivers the first pitch. High for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, tried to throw that high curve ball in, get that thing to loop down, and it just didn't break.

SPEAKER_04

Brody deals to the plate here. Swing and a miss for strike one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

I don't know if you saw hope out there. It's short, but there must be some B's or something, or something. He's been swatting around and jumping. Something's hit going at his head there a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Here's a pitch by Brody. Swin another swing and a miss for strike two. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

The game of baseball, Mike. Right when you think you see things, seen it all, then then stuff happens. You know, the turkey flying out in the left field, you know, it just never ends.

SPEAKER_04

Brody comes set. That pitch high for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

He's getting he's having a little trouble getting that thing to break. He's uh he's coming over the top, getting a nice loop, but uh it's just kind of staying high.

SPEAKER_04

Again, five of the last six outs have been by strikeout. Here's the pitch. Nice. That popped out to Gaswent right field. He's able to settle under it for the first out.

SPEAKER_10

Used two hands there, Mike. I wonder if uh if if Dad must have said something to him after the game about that uh one-hander last night.

SPEAKER_04

It's possible.

SPEAKER_10

That'll bring Weber to the plate. In his defense, he was coming up throwing. I mean that I I've done that several times myself. You know, he he had a guy on third and he makes that catch. He throws a dart. Uh, you know, we've all seen his arm.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Brody. There we go. Just low for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

When all that that curve ball really broke. Just low, but man, I like seeing that. That that's a good pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Weber singled his first time up, stranded at second. Here's the pitch. Yeah. In there for a strike, one ball, one strike. We are tied two to two. We're in the top of the fourth inning.

SPEAKER_10

Really finding his groove with that fastball.

SPEAKER_04

Brody comes set, delivers. Just inside for a ball. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Don't give up on that. Uh Mr. Umpire, that thing. I think that thing might have caught the inside corner. Nice pitch, nonetheless.

SPEAKER_04

Deals. That pitch way outside for ball three. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Take a deep breath here. Let's uh let's come back on him. I mean, with no need any base runners.

SPEAKER_04

Nobody on for Boyden Hall here in the top of the fourth. We are tied two to two. Healing comes into this game with an eight-one record. Sits alone atop the Missouri River Activities Conference with an 8-0 record. That was ball four. Weber draws the walk. He trots down to first base. That will bring Van Beek to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, look for look for Boyd and Hall to be aggressive. I mean, they have. I mean, coach has shown, I mean, he'll take off here. First, second pitch. You know, he has everybody that's gotten on first. He's been aggressive with.

SPEAKER_03

Sizable lead over there. Yeah, there we go. By Weber. Throw over.

SPEAKER_10

That's that quick move. I've been waiting to see what Shaner had going over to first. I like that. Now you got him thinking over there.

SPEAKER_04

Van Beek struck out looking his first time up. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I guess uh get back in and don't let that walk bother you. Come back. Come right back at this guy. Let your defense make the play.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner deals, runner goes. Ball bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Weber out at second now with one out. We're in the top of the fourth. Score tied two to two. Brody looks back to second. Deals to the plate. That pitch high for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Working himself into a little bit of trouble here.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I mean, we got first base open. I mean, it it it's not a it's not a showstopper by any means. You know, let him get over there, but you don't want to get too many guys on, throw too many pitches here. I mean, you really want to battle back here. Wait, okay, got it.

SPEAKER_04

Shainer checks your runner at second base. Here's the pitch. High and inside for ball four.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, coach needs to go out. Have a little conversation. And there he goes. There he goes. That's smart. Get out there and calm your man. Calm your man down. Get one out.

SPEAKER_04

Two consecutive walks, puts runners at first and second. That'll bring Noble to the plate. He struck out his last time up.

SPEAKER_10

Let's get a couple more sponsors in here, Mike, while we got a got a minute. Some more of our underwriters for Bishop Healing Baseball, drilling Morningside Pharmacy, Dunes Rental for Kids, Empirical, FM Wealth Management, Matt Lawler. Shout out to Matt. Folk Brothers, Greenville Pharmacy, Greg and Krista Yoakum, and Gretkin Family Eye Care. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_04

We enjoy the opportunity that the underwriters provide for you and I to do these games and also the support they provide to Catholic Radio and all the great programming that is on Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, it's and like we say every game, get out and support our sponsors. They're very good to Catholic Radio and to Bishop Healan.

SPEAKER_04

Lots of summer camps going on at Bishop Healand this year. If you have any questions or want to learn more about them, you can go to bishophealan.org and click on the camp link and it'll bring them up and tell you everything you need to know. Here's the first pitch by Brody. Fouled off at the Boyden Hall bus. Misses it for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I'm sure Coach just went out there and said, hey, you know, relax, play catch. Um forget about the runner. I think that runner's kind of got him a little nervous. You know, let's just get that second out.

SPEAKER_04

Shanner comes set, looks back at second, deals to the plate. Nice. That ball hit over Beck at second base. That'll score one run.

SPEAKER_08

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

Ball goes through, gets away. Everyone will advance. Boydenhalt takes the lead three to two. Van Beak goes to third on the misplay.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I don't know what happened there. Um Gaswin came up throwing, threw a BB right right to Lefavre, uh, who's the cutoff, and right at the last second, LeFavor backed his glove off. So he must have heard somebody say, let it go, let it go. Usually that's the catcher saying, you know, uh relay two or or relay home or or let it go. And and so somewhere in there there was a little confusion. He let it go, goes back to the backstop, and they get an extra extra base.

SPEAKER_04

So that'll bring Miller to the plate. Boyden Hall leads three to two. We're in the top of the fourth inning. Miller struck out his last time up. That pitched, first pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Jeffer would be next if the inning is extended.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice piece of hitting by the Boyden Hall player there, taking that thing to right field.

SPEAKER_04

Brody checks runner at third, deals to the plate, bounces away from the catcher. Another run will score.

SPEAKER_10

He doesn't see it. Get it, get it, get him.

SPEAKER_04

Runner from second got to third and started home and realized I better go back. Another run across for Boyden Hall here in the top of the fourth. They now lead four to two. Noble heads down to third on the pass ball. Runner at third, one out.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Zach couldn't find the ball. I mean, got back to the backstop.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, one strike the count to Miller. Again, Jeffer will follow. Here's a pitch by Brody. Outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we gotta we gotta come out of this out of this inning clean here, Mike. You can't uh you gotta minimize the damage.

SPEAKER_04

Another ball in there, three balls, one strike. Jeffer would be next. Brody comes set. Deals to the plate. That's on that outside corner for strike two. Full count on Miller. Runner at third. One out. Boyton Hull has pushed two across here in the top of the fourth, and they lead Healon four to two. Here's the pitch by Brody. Just outside for ball four. Yeah. That's three walks this inning.

SPEAKER_10

He's going out getting somebody loose there. Number 21. Who's that? Heaton. Yeah, Heaton. Looks like Heaton's gonna get loose out in the bullpen.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Jeffer to the plate. Boyden Hall has runners at first and third with one out. They lead four to two.

SPEAKER_10

I mean, we're into our fifth game in three days, Mike, and and and you gotta use all of your arms, and and uh and we're probably gonna see him here uh today.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, no strikes. Brody checks runner at third.

SPEAKER_10

There we go.

SPEAKER_04

Ball hit out to Dillon in center field. Dillon feels it. Runner will not go. Chaffer flies out to Knapp in center field for the second out. Noble at third, Miller at second, brings Dreyer to the plate. Boyden Hall has scored two this inning to take the lead four to two.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I think Dillon was looking for an opportunity to throw somebody out at home there. Nice dart back to the to the relay.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner looks in and deals. That ball hit. Great play by Vickery. Vickery ranges over in front of JJ Hope, throws it over to first for the third out. Boynton Hull scores two. They lead Healing four to two as we head to the bottom of the fourth inning. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, to be honest with you there, Mike, uh we're pretty fortunate to come out of that, only giving up two runs. They had uh guys in scoring position, uh no outs. Um and Shaner was having a little trouble finding the zone there a little bit, a couple key hits by them, but to come out with only giving up two runs there is actually pretty good. I mean, you know, I don't know how much longer he would have gone with Shaner there if Shaner got in a little more trouble, but now you got him for another inning. He kind of found his confidence there last couple batters.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, walks have been the killer for the Crusaders in this game. Uh four of the walks have led to all four runs. So Beck steps in. First pitch to him on that outside corner for strike one. No ball is one strike. Pitch way outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Chase popped out to the first baseman as first time up.

SPEAKER_08

Nice.

SPEAKER_04

He hits that just out of the reach of the third baseman. So Beck leads off with a single. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, just ripped that ball. The rotation on his wrist was, you know, exactly how you teach it, you know, to come through, follow through with the bat, get those wrists rotating, and he just stroked that ball. Frozen rope.

SPEAKER_04

JJ singled his first time up and hit into a fielder's choice last time up.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that third baseman's about ten feet behind third base here. I and I'm sure JJ knows it.

SPEAKER_04

Look in, here's the pitch. Way high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he he he looked over there. I'm sure he's thinking about it. I mean, there's he gets that ball down the third baseline. There's no way he's gonna get him.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by DeCoster.

SPEAKER_10

There it goes. Oh. JJ bunts that one foul. I like it though. I like it. I mean, why not?

SPEAKER_04

One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he just missed it. You know, he had that bat and an angle and got that ball popped up.

SPEAKER_04

But third baseman still not coming in on that. No.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he's in a little he's in a little bit farther than where he was. He was about ten feet back. Now he's just just behind. Now he's even. There's a pitch. Oh, Jim.

SPEAKER_04

That hit right, grounded sharply to the pitcher. JJ able to beat that out.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

JJ reaches on another fielder's choice.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, they wanted that, but that was a tie. That was a bang banger, and you know, and bang banger, a tie to goes to the runner, and no question about that.

SPEAKER_04

I know they wanted it, but Beck forced out at second base. That'll bring Carroll to the plate. He'll be followed by Caleb Lefaver. Here's the pitch by DeCoster. Way outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, this catcher's he's popping up. He knows he knows who he's got on first base here, and he's he's gone both times that he's been over there. So good pitch to go for hit and run here, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Tommy. Inside, two balls, no strikes. Again, caleble favor due up next. JJ Hope down at first base, one out. We're in the bottom of the fourth. Healing trails, four to two. Here's the pitch. Hit to the second baseman. He bobbles it. Able to make the throw over to first and get Carroll at first. JJ Hope advances to second on that.

SPEAKER_10

You know, a nice piece of hitting. If we would have had a hit and run on there, uh I mean obviously it would have moved the second baseman and that thing goes out into right field. But you know, good job getting uh JJ down to second base with oh they're not even gonna they're not even gonna pitch to him.

SPEAKER_04

That was a quick at bat for Caleb, their intentional walk. He heads down to first base, so Healing's got runners at first and second with two outs. Yeah. That will bring Shaner to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we saw this the other night, Mike. We talked about it a little bit. We're not this isn't gonna be the last time we see intentional walk to La Favor with guys in scoring position. He just makes way too good a contact.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner steps in, he's a young man who can change this game with one swing. JJ with a huge lead out there at second base. Here's the pitch. Ball bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes. And you got to figure if they do turn and throw to second to JJ's heading to third.

SPEAKER_10

Absolutely. Yeah, JJ's got a huge lead over there. You know, and he just makes you nervous as a pitcher. I mean, you're trying not to think about him, but he just makes you nervous. Huge lead.

SPEAKER_04

DeCostro looks back to second. Deals to Brody. Brody fouls that one back. One ball, one strike. Two outs, two on. Healing trails four to two. We're in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dylan Knapp would be up next if the inning can get extended. The cost are taking a long time out there. Looks back at second base. Oh, and JJ did go back to second.

SPEAKER_10

He's got that quick uh it's kind of a we call it a snap throw, Mike. You know, where you can just kind of turn and s and and then you snap throw it. Um not everybody can do that. You've got to be a halfway decent athlete to be able to do that. He's obviously a good athlete.

SPEAKER_04

There's a pitch by DeCoster, bounces in there for ball two, two balls, one strike. JJ at second, Caleb Lefaver at first. Two outs, healing trails by two.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's got to come back with something good for Shaner here. Something good to hit.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Brody. He hits that third baseman. Fields it, throws to second for the force out, and that'll end the inning for the Crusaders. We will go to the top of the fifth. Healand Trails 4-2. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We're back at Bishop Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. We're heading to the top of the fifth. Boyton Hall will send Den Hartog, Luvano, and Kramer to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's get some more of our underwriters in here, Mike. Heideman Law Firm, Heinmann Family Dentistry. I'm on Communications, JJ Coins and Collectibles, Jimmy Johns, Keller William Real Estate, Agent Tammy Bertram, Cruz Financial Group, Joe Cruz and his son. Give them a call. Lawler Fixtures, Liberty National Bank, Lightform, Modern Day Parish, McClintock Insurance, hi to a good friend of mine, Tim, Tim McClintock, and Meyer Brother Funeral Home. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healand Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_04

Crusaders come into the top of this top of the fifth inning. Shayner did a really good job, settled in for a couple of innings. Had a hard time finding the plate. That last inning, and that led to two walks, which led to two runs. And we're gonna see if he can settle in and keep this a four-to-two game and then get Healing back up and see what they can do to push some runs across.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we had a huge opportunity that last inning, and we just couldn't capitalize.

SPEAKER_04

Then Hartog steps in to face Shaner. Shaner comes set, deals to the plate. That ball hitched weakly out to Shaner at first. He air mails it over to Lefavre at first. Runner takes off for second, loses his footing. They're I guess gonna say interference on LeFaver because they're letting the runner take second base.

SPEAKER_10

Well, they ran into each other, but that was in fair territory. You know, I'm not so sure I wouldn't argue that, but I don't see uh Coach Welselman. You know, he just reached up for that, and when he turned, they ran into each other. I mean, he he has just as much right to that base as the runner.

SPEAKER_04

So Boyden Hull starts his inning off with a single. Runner advances down to second. Luvano steps in. Boyden Hull already leads four to two, looking to add more. Brody checks the runner at second. Feels runner goes at pitch high for ball one.

SPEAKER_10

We got a huge jump.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, no strikes to Lubano. Brody looks in and deals. Nice pitch. Just outside and low for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Man, that's a tough one to lay off. I mean, that that thing came across. I'm not so sure it didn't come across a strike where he caught it. It wasn't, but not so sure.

SPEAKER_04

Brody checks the runner at third, delivers to the plate. That ball fouled off out of play. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Trying to see if I can see through that fence to see if we still have anybody warming up, Mike, but I don't see anybody.

SPEAKER_04

Brody checks in hard tog at third. Here's a delivery. Way outside. Three balls, one strike. Brody's lived on the edge all day long, and that's continuing here in the fifth inning. Deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

That's up.

SPEAKER_04

That ball has popped up. Harpineau gives Chase. Ball out of play. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes, no outs. Den Hartog at third for Boyden Hall. They lead four to two here in the top of the fifth.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's got a battle here. I mean he's got three and two. Let's not lose this guy.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Brody. That pitch is high for ball four. That'll put runners at the corners. That will bring Kramer up. Flew out to Nathan Gass went out and out in right field both times.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, coach's got some decisions he's gonna have to make here. I mean, you want to get this game to get out of hand here, so gotta see what Brody can do here. Hopefully we can manufacture a double play ball.

SPEAKER_04

The infield is playing back, so it looks like they'll concede the run to get the double play. Runner takes off from first. Pitches high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Runners second and third, top of the fifth inning. Healing trails, Boyden Hall, four to two. Weber would be next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Brody's getting a little frustrated out there with himself, and just gotta find a strike, find a way to get through this inning.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Brody. That's on the outside corner for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he really needed that. He needed that pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Brody checks a runner at third, delivers to the plate. That ball hit hard. Great play by Vickery at third. Line drive to Vickery. He makes the play for the first out.

SPEAKER_10

That ball was roped. Yeah, Vickery. Great play.

SPEAKER_04

That'll keep runners at second and third. Weber steps in. He singled his first time up, stranded at second. He walked his last time up and scored a run. Brody deals to the plate. Bounces away from Harpinah. Den Hartog will score from third. That makes a score 5-2. Boyden Hull. Luvano heads down to third. One ball, no strikes to Weber. Van Beek would be next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, the ball just got away from him. One of those fast balls that kind of held on to too long, bounced in front of the plate. Would have been a tough one for Harpano to pick up.

SPEAKER_04

Here's a pitch by Brody. That ball hit to JJ at short. Checks the runner back to third. Throws to LaFavor at first for the second out.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good play by JJ. Playing a little bit in. You know, he froze them. It's one of those ones where you catch it. And it was hit hard enough that he could stare down the guy at third base, make sure he's staying, and then throw over to first.

SPEAKER_04

Van Beek steps in. There's two outs here in the top of the fifth. Boyden Hull has pushed one run across to increase their lead to five to two over the Crusaders. Here's the pitch by Brody. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's concentrate here. Let's concentrate on the batter. I mean, this guy's got a big lead over at third.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the batter's the most important one right now. Here's the pitch. Gets away. Yeah, he doesn't see it. Harpenau can't find it. Lavano will score from third. That makes the score 6-2 Boyden Hall.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, tough pitch for Harpenaugh to handle. Uh ball gets by him and and uh we got a 2-0 count. Now it's gonna have to battle back here to keep this keep this at bay. We've got two outs. Let's let's finish this. Let's get in there and let's manufacture some runs.

SPEAKER_04

They've definitely shown that they can come back when they trail. So just need to get this third out and get up and get those bats going. Swing and a miss there. Two balls, one strike to Van Beek. Brody comes set on the mound out there. Here's the pitch. High fly ball. That ball hit out to Tommy Carroll in left field. He settles under it. Makes the nice two-handed catch to retire the side in the inning. Boyden Hall pushes two across. They lead six to two as we head to the bottom of the fifth. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_04

We are back. We're heading to the bottom of the fifth. Healing will send Dylan Knapp, Arod, and Nathan Gaswent to the plate here in the bottom of the fifth to try to push some runs across and cut into this lead. They trail six to two.

SPEAKER_10

Well, if we're gonna make a charge at this, Mike, we're gonna have to do it in the middle to the bottom of the lineup. Manufacture some runs and and uh you know and why not? I mean the last couple games, last few games, it it they've been able to to produce, get on base, make some key hits, and uh and I like it. I like Dill Dillon's been hot hot at the plate, been hitting the ball hard. You know, get get him on, and who knows?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and you gotta wonder if a little bit of fatigue is starting to set in you, plus you've got a couple guys in positions they're not used to playing and yeah uh makes it tough. But uh they're young, they're gonna fight through this.

SPEAKER_10

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

It's been a long week for them, been a long week for us, but it's been fun. Oh, nice Dylan Bunts that foul down the third baseline.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I I like the choice.

SPEAKER_04

He's on he's on if that's fair with his speed.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he's I don't even think the guy makes an attempt. He was he was way back on his heels.

SPEAKER_04

Dilly steps back in, count no balls, one strike, bottom of the fifth, healing trail six to two. Here's the pitch. Yeah, he hits that between short and third. Knapp will reach on a single.

SPEAKER_10

Continues to stay hot. Just beautiful job staying back and taking what the pitcher gives you and driving that ball between third and short.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Alex A. Rod Rodriguez to the plate. Struck out his first time up, hit into a fielder's choice his second time up. Hit the ball really hard last night in that first game.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the first pitch. Pitch is high. Catcher fakes a throw down to first base. Dylan gets back. One ball, no strikes to Rodriguez. Gas went to follow.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, these are some bigot bats. I mean, we gotta we gotta chip away at this. You have any chance of pulling this off in seven? I mean, we're down to the last three innings. And uh and you just gotta, you know, manufacture one at a time. One one hit at a time, one pitch at a time.

SPEAKER_04

Two balls, no strikes to Dylan. I mean, I'm sorry to A Rod. Another pitch high for ball three. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

You wonder about fatigue with their pitch or with Coster. He's been out there, he's thrown a lot of pitches.

SPEAKER_04

He has thrown a lot of pitches. We need to increase that pitch count here in this inning. Dylan increases the lead just a little bit down at first. Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike one. Three balls, one strike. DeCaster checks, here's the pitch. That ball fouled off at the plate. Three balls, two strikes. Bottom of the fifth inning, Healing Trails, Boyden Hall, six to two. Looking to push a run or two across here.

SPEAKER_10

I look for him to go on this one. Three and two. Uh gets a good good pitch to hit, make some contact. Yeah, there's no question. Uh Dylan's got a good job. Dylan goes.

SPEAKER_04

He's got a good jump. That ball is fouled back. Dylan will head back to first base. He had a really good jump on that one.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

We're really going to know what we're doing by the end of the season, John. That was a good call on your part.

SPEAKER_10

I tell you what, now he's. I mean, just it goes back to situation baseball. You got three and two. You want to get that guy down to second.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Dylan does not go this time. That pitch air mailed in there for ball four.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good at bat by by Rod.

SPEAKER_18

Very good to make a ball back.

SPEAKER_04

Single and a walk, puts two men on. Knapp at second, Rodriguez at first. That'll bring Nathan Gaslin to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, very confident at bat. I mean, he uh he he fouled off some balls, he he had a had a good zone. I mean, and and that's the kind of a bat you want. And and those are the things that later in the game, you know, we manufacture a run here. You look back at something like that, you know, and the bats some of these kids are having, especially at the bottom of the order.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Nathan singled his first time up, walked his last time up, has scored a run. Here's the pitch. That pitch to Nathan is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, notice Nathan stepping in a little bit more toward the plate. Yeah, he's a little more on top of it. I think he kind of realizes they're coming on that outside corner on him quite a bit.

SPEAKER_04

DeCoster looks in and deals. Yeah. That pitch way inside the gas went two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

You know, sometimes when you do that, if you're a batter, you step in a little bit more, you know, and we talked about it the other night. The pitcher wants to come inside. It's tough for a pitcher to hit that inside corner when somebody's up on the plate. You think you can, but it does bother you. You catch him off the corner of your eye, and you're like, you know, I want that inside, but and then you have things like this. Now you got two and oh count, and and he's got to come back with something he can hit.

SPEAKER_04

DeCastro a long look in long look in after a short meeting with the catcher. He deals. That's on the outside corner for strike one. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good job framing by the catcher. The ball was a little bit outside, but great frame job.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when I say outside corner, I'm being generous, folks.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, no, that was that was a good job. I mean the catcher catcher sold that, and that's that's what you do.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, well.

SPEAKER_04

On the outside corner again for strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Vickery due up next.

SPEAKER_10

He's gonna see where he sets up here. Yeah, he's coming. He's coming back inside, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Nathan. Nathan fouls that back into the net. Count remains two balls, two strikes. Nap at first, Rodriguez Nap at second, Rodriguez at first. No outs here in the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders trying to cut into this 6'2 lead.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, DeCoster takes such a long time.

SPEAKER_04

Really long look in here by DeCoster. He deals to the plate. Nice. Another pitch fouled off, out of play. Two balls, two strikes, two on, no outs. Healing trails by four, six to two. We're in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Coster comes set. And the pitch bounces in there for ball three. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

That's a big pitch for Coster here. I mean, you got a full count. What you don't want to do is load the bases. And uh especially with the bottom of the order here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Vickery is due up next. And here's the pitch to Nathan. He fouls that one back.

SPEAKER_10

That's a good at bat by Nathan.

SPEAKER_04

Three balls, two strikes to Gaswent. Knapp at second, Rodriguez at first. No outs here in the bottom of the fifth.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, Nap's got a decent lead.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Nathan. Oh, good eye. Way outside for ball four. Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Good at that by Nathan.

SPEAKER_04

Second straight walk that DeCaster has given up. Base is loaded. No outs. Brings Vickery to the plate. Gonna have a meeting at the mound.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that was extremely good at that by Nathan.

SPEAKER_04

We are gonna have a change. DeCostra will leave the game with a lead of six to two. And with that pitching change, we're gonna be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We are back at Bishop Mueller Field. We're in the bottom of the fifth inning. Base is full of Crusaders. They trail Boyden Hall 6-2. We have a pitching change. The new pitcher for Boyden Hall will be Weber. Don't have any stats for him on the season yet, so this will be a first for us to see and possibly a first for some of the Boyden Hall fans to see. He's a really tall kid out there.

SPEAKER_10

Just looking at his warm-ups, uh, he's all over the place here, and hopefully he continues to be that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that would be good. Yeah. We're getting it getting ready to resume play here. As we do, Vickery will step in.

SPEAKER_10

I mean, how how important were those at bats by the last, you know, especially Gaswin here? Yeah, I mean, he threw him at least 11 pitches, and you know, to get him to his pitch count.

SPEAKER_04

Vickery walked his first time up, grounded out to the second baseman the last time. Weber throwing from the full wind up, first pitch. Way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

He's got a little velocity. He's got to he's got to come in for a strike. And Vickery is very patient up there. Hit the ball hard, second baseman last time. Boy, they're really in. They are really in.

SPEAKER_04

Looking to try to cut the playoff at the plate. Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I've seen him now.

SPEAKER_04

Good opportunity for Vickery to drive a run or two in here with a base hit. Whoever looks in, starts his wind up. And the pitch on that way outside corner for strike two. One ball, two strikes. That was in the left-handed batter box.

SPEAKER_10

Boy, I tell you what, that's just that just changes your whole mindset when you're at that.

SPEAKER_04

Vickery swings and misses for strike three. That'll be the first out of the inning for the Crusaders. That will bring Beck to the plate. He'll be followed by Hope. Again, bases loaded with Crusaders. One out, bottom of the fifth. Healing Trails, six to two.

SPEAKER_10

Just takes the bat out of your hands, Mike, and just makes you come up to the bat and with a whole different set in your mind there. Nice piece.

SPEAKER_04

Good swing there by Chase. Yeah. Fouls that off to the right side. No balls, one strike. Popped out to the first baseman his first time up. Singled his last time up. Be nice to get a single here. Here's the pitch, Chase. On that outside corner for strike two. No balls, two strikes. JJ Hope, do up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he's calling that pitch. I mean, you really got to come up defending that outside corner.

SPEAKER_04

Weber checks the runner at third, ready to deal. Delivers. That ball bounces in there. Doesn't get far enough away from the catcher for Dillon to score. One ball, two strikes. Knapp at third, Rodriguez at second. Gas went over at first. Healer looking to cut into this 6-2 deficit.

SPEAKER_10

Great opportunity here to get back into this ball game. Yeah, three guys on. Got top of the order coming up.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, here's the pitch by Weber. Yeah. Way outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_10

Good eye by Beck. You know.

SPEAKER_04

A lot like Weber's warm-up session. It was way inside, way outside, high, low.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, yeah, he didn't, he he wasn't this consistent when he was warming up.

SPEAKER_04

And here's the pitch to Chase. In there on that inside corner for strike three. Beck caught looking for the second out. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, threw a nice breaker on the inside corner. Yeah, I just caught him looking a little bit. I'm sure he wasn't expecting that pitch, but that but I'll tell you, Mike, that's that's what happens when you start calling that outside corner way out like he's doing, it forces you to come in and you sneak sneak something like that in, and it just changes your whole mind frame when you come up to bat.

SPEAKER_04

Got Dylan Knapp at third. JJ Hope steps in. That ball thrown wildly to first base. Two runs will score. That ball hit right in front of the plate and bounced high. Catcher fielded it. Threw high to the first baseman. Here we go. JJ as he was rounding first, stumbled, so he wasn't able to advance to second. But we've got JJ at first. Gas went at third. Healand is cut into this lead. It's now six to four.

SPEAKER_10

You know, that's a routine play by the catcher. And what happens here is that ball hits up, he catches it, turns to make the throw, and then all of a sudden you realize you got a guy like JJ Hope, who's three quarters of the way down the line. Now you gotta now you gotta press the throw. You know, you gotta rush it, and that's what happens. I mean, he he just airmailed it out into right field.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and when that contact was made, the pitcher fell down off the mound. So there was the catcher. JJ takes off.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Healing now has runners at second and third with two outs. They trail six to four. We're in the bottom of the fifth.

SPEAKER_10

This is a huge at bat here, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Tommy Carroll has a chance to drive in a run or two.

SPEAKER_10

Huge at bat.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, no strikes to Tommy. Here's a pitch. That ball bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, this is this is kind of what we saw when he was warming up here. Having a little trouble finding the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Caleb LaFaver is due up if Tommy can extend this inning. Here's the wind-up and the pitch by Weber. Tommy hits that hard. That's trouble. That's trouble, folks. Oh man. Out to the fence, all the way to the warning track. Two runs will score. Carroll holds it second base. Healing is tied this game here in the bottom of the fifth. We are now tied six to six. Nice job of hitting there by Tommy Carroll. He's out at second base, and that'll bring Caleb Lefaver to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Oh boy, is he excited or what? Well, he just he turned on that ball, and and with the wind blowing a little bit out to left field. I mean, I noticed that earlier where the left fielder was playing extremely shallow and uh just crushed it. Right to the warning track and in the gap.

SPEAKER_04

Another intentional walk for Caleb. That'll bring Schainer to the plate. Now there's runners at first and second for the Crusaders. They've scored four here in the bottom of the fifth. We are tied six to six.

SPEAKER_10

I know our parents don't like that. Uh them doing uh you know automatic uh to the favor, but I mean that's just smart baseball. Uh you have an open base over there, you're gonna let him do the damage. Make someone else.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Way inside.

SPEAKER_10

That ball gets away. Yeah, he's struggling.

SPEAKER_04

Carroll heads down to third. Caleb advances over to second. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

You tell the catcher here is a little frustrated, probably frustrated at himself for uh overthrowing the first base. Now you got two guys in here. Uh like you said last at bat with Shaner, a guy that can just put this game out of reach with one.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner, the ninth batter, to come to the plate here in the top bottom of the fifth. Here's the pitch. Just inside. Ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Weber checks. Yeah. Carroll at third. Starts his wind up, delivers to the plate. That's the first one. Brody fouls that pass or hits that pass to third baseman. Gets away. Yeah. Carroll scores. LaFaver scores. Two RBI single for Brody Shaner. Healing now leads this game eight to six. That's where it goes just about every time he's up. That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. And it's been kind of fast, John, but if my calculations are correct, that's six runs with two outs here in the bottom of the fifth.

SPEAKER_10

I think you're right. You know, we talk about it high school baseball. Put the ball in play and make the defense. Make the defense make a play. Things happen.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan hit by the pitch there.

SPEAKER_10

Well, I did not see that. He must must have caught him on the shoulder.

SPEAKER_04

It must have just nicked him because we couldn't tell what that it even made contact with him, but we'll take it. We've got runners at first and second. Rodriguez steps in. He walked his last time up and scored a run. Again, Healing has scored six runs here in the bottom of the fifth to take an eight to six lead. Rodriguez fouls that off. First pitch for strike one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, this catcher is still kicking himself. You know, he he you know. Let's get things straight. I mean he's a he's an extremely good catcher, and that's why he's mad at himself. But you know, he's got to get over it. I'm looking from the Boyden Hall Rock Valley side and gather himself and get out of the inning for their side. You know, for us, we just need to keep going, keep putting the ball in play.

SPEAKER_04

Here's a pitch to Rodriguez. Yeah. High and outside.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, this kid's struggling a little bit with two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, if that misplay isn't made by the catcher, Healing is out of this inning and probably only scores one run.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Weber checks Brody back at second, delivers to the plate. Oh, nice cut. Swing and a miss by Rodriguez. I wasn't sure that the pitcher was going to know where home plate was because he was still looking back at second when he started his windup.

SPEAKER_10

Is that the right account, Mike? What do you got? I got two and one in my head here.

SPEAKER_04

I've got two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But we're unofficially official. Here's the pitch. That must have been Rodriguez will strike out to end the inning, but the Crusaders push six runs across in the bottom of the fifth. They now lead eight to six. We will head to the top of the sixth. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_11

You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Ponco Sioux City, and KOIA, Storm Lake, Sioux Land Catholic Radio. Missouri Valley Land and Cattle Consultants started up in 1987 by Mike and Virgin. They specialized in buying and selling cattle. You can reach Michael Vachure at 712-251-4232. They're located in Dakota Dune, South Dakota.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back to Bishop Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. Healing pushed six runs across in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-6 lead. And we have a pitching change. Heaton is out on the mound.

SPEAKER_10

Another one of our uh we had two eighth graders on the roster, uh Heaton and LaFaver. And this first time we get a chance to see what Heaton could do. We've seen him run the bases, you know, uh obviously uh filling in for Lefaver when he's pitching and and Erickson when he's catching. Um let's go back a little bit. You know, we talked about uh the catcher making that throw out into right field, and you know, first of all, I'm not so sure JJ doesn't beat that ball out. I mean, it was gonna be a bang banger anyway, and and I know they probably gave it an error on the catcher, but you know, but that's that's what speed does. You know, as a pitcher, I mean it just makes you nervous when those guys are on the on the mound, and then when you're fielding, you gotta hurry up everything. You know, uh it's you just can't teach it. I mean he guys like JJ Hope, Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_04

First pitch by Heaton is high for ball one. Big spot here for the eighth grader.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, just throw strikes, young man. Let's let's let our defense, you know. I'm I'm really impressed with the job that uh that Schaehner did fighting back. Moved him back over to third base, it looks like.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, two balls, no strikes to count to Noble. He'll be followed by Miller. That pitch by Heaton is high. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

He needs to take a deep breath. Get control. He's releasing it extremely high. You know, come follow through.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Heaton. There we go. That's in there for a strike. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

And his follow-through was way better on that one.

SPEAKER_04

Heaton working very quickly. That ball way outside for ball four. Noble draws the walk, Miller steps to the plate. Yeah. Healing leads this one eight to six. We're in the top of the sixth inning.

SPEAKER_10

You know, one thing, I mean, this is his first varsity appearance as a position player. You know, I'm the nerves are going. And what he needs here, he needs to get a strike on the first pitch. A little bit high, but not bad. But what you don't want, Mike, especially with this young key, you don't want to let it go too long without going out and visiting with him. And see uh see what he can do with this guy.

SPEAKER_04

Runner goes. Nice pitch. That pitch breaks in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. Noble heads down to second.

SPEAKER_10

Well, that was the first curveball we seen him throw, and that thing looped right in. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Miller has struck out and walked today. So Boyden Hall has a runner at second base and scoring position with no outs. We're in the top of the sixth inning. Heaton looks in. Checks a runner at second. Deals to the plate. Another nice one breaks in there as well. One ball, two strikes. Jeffer would be next.

SPEAKER_10

Well, one thing we know with both these eighth graders is they've got some wicked curveballs.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, they do. There is some definite break. Heaton a long look in. Wind up in the pitch. Oh, you got it. That broke in there, ladies and gentlemen. That was three straight curve balls that were just beautiful. That's the first strikeout for Hendricks Heaton. Nice job, young man.

SPEAKER_10

Outside, outside with the curveballs, and he had enough control of that thing. He brought that thing right around the inside corner, looped in. Beautiful pitch, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

That was good morning, good afternoon, and good night strikeout. That'll bring Jeffer to the plate with one out. Noble down at second base. Yeah. Bounces in there for ball one. Jeffer walked his first time up, scored a run, struck out, and flew out to Dylan Knapp in center field.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's four straight curved balls here, and I'm assuming he's going to be looking for that. Might be a good time to sneak that fastball in, either on the inside corner. Yeah, that's where he's going. He's going inside.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Hendricks. Nice pitch. That pitch popped up. Harpinaw makes gives chase. He makes the catch over at the healing dugout.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Harpineau read my mind. Go inside, fastball. And that was a perfect pitch. Like I said, four straight curve balls. You know that guy was up there looking for that. And he caught him with that inside fastball. Got him on the hands.

SPEAKER_04

Two outs for Boyden Hall here in the top of the six. That brings Dreyer to the plate. They've got Noble at second base with two outs. They trail eight to six. Hendricks looks back at second, deals in. Just outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Boy, that that's been a strike all night. You know, um, I know just a little bit outside, but I mean if you're gonna give it to them, you've got to give it to us.

SPEAKER_04

Heaton checks the runner at second, delivers to the plate. There we go. Folks, he's just an eighth grader, but you've got to come out and see this curveball that he's got, and also Aiden LeFavre have. It is something pretty special.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, one strike to Dreyer. Two outs. Runner at second base. Yeah, drier. Healing leads eight to six.

SPEAKER_10

He's looking for it, and there he goes inside. Nice.

SPEAKER_04

Shaner over at third. Throw to Lefaver at first for the third out.

SPEAKER_10

Nice play by Shaner. Good throw by Shaner. There we go.

SPEAKER_04

Good job coming in, settling down. We're headed to the bottom of the sixth. It's eight to six Crusaders. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_10

Welcome back to Sister St. Sisters of St. Francis Field, and we're in the Jim Wharton press box. I would like to give uh shout out to some more of our sponsors here. Uh Nook Rib Inspection, People's Bank of Sioux City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace, Trinity Heights, R. E. Scott, Rooley Family Chiropractic, Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Siouxland, and Sioux Body Shop. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_04

As we head to the bottom of the sixth, it'll be Gaswent, Vickery, and Beck. And I have to give a shout out, even though I know he's not listening. My brother-in-law John Vondrak down in Austin just sent me a picture. He's sitting behind home plate at the opening round of the Austin Regional. Texas is currently taking on a Holy Cross. And I guess if I can't be there, John, this is the next best place to be.

SPEAKER_10

Well, a good friend of mine as well, your brother-in-law John. Uh shout out to him.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. Sharply hit by Gassman. He's really starting to make contact here. Gasman on with the single.

SPEAKER_10

You know what I like about that, Mike, is he stood back, he didn't get anxious, and he took what the pitcher gave him and drove that thing to left field.

SPEAKER_04

Hendricks Heaton steps in. So not only does he get to come in and pitch for the first time, now he gets to step in for an at-bat.

SPEAKER_10

Now we're going to talk a little bit about uh Mr. Heaton here when we get a little space.

SPEAKER_04

Here's that first pitch. I mean over his head for ball one.

SPEAKER_10

The job he did, Mike, coming in there, and you know he walked that first batter, but the composure of an eighth grader to come in and and and throw those curve balls for strikes.

SPEAKER_04

He squares the bunt, bunts it beautifully to the pitcher. Pitcher's only got one play, and that's over to first. And that wasn't a very good throw, but they're able to get Heaton.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he called them safe. I thought so too. I don't think he was on the base, Mike. He bobbled it, and his feet were straddling the base, and they were off.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Well, we'll take it.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, but let's go back, you know, and once he once he established that curve ball uh in that last inning, he was really able to work inside out and bring that fastball in the inside corner.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Chase Beck to the plate. Runners at first and second, no outs here in the bottom of the sixth. Beck squares. Bunts that beautifully down the first baseline.

SPEAKER_10

I like it. Small ball. I mean, I like the small ball. Bottom of the order. Here we go. They did their job. They got on base. Now they got you got the top of the order coming up with one of your best contact hitters.

SPEAKER_18

JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_10

Let's open this thing up. Give Mr. Heaton a little bit more lead going into the seventh inning.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate. Got Crusaders at second and third out there with one out. Carroll will follow. Wind up by Weber, and here's the pitch.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Now he's frustrated, and that play at first base. I you know, I know they wanted it, but he definitely was not on the base. Something's going on here. Oh, we got a pinch runner for Gaslin.

SPEAKER_18

What's going on here?

SPEAKER_10

Something happened over there. I don't know why they pulled him out. Infield's in. Guys are right on the grass.

SPEAKER_04

Weber long look in. He starts his wind up. Here's the pitch. Pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, catcher leaned back to the hump and said, uh, you've been calling that all game, uh, Mr. Umpire. How come he didn't give that to me this time? And and and trust me, that was high and outside.

SPEAKER_04

Weber deals. Nice. Hope hits that sharply between first and second. That's gonna score one. Here comes Heaton for the second run. He's gonna be in there safely.

SPEAKER_10

There we go.

SPEAKER_04

JJ Hope singles in two, advances to second on the throw home.

SPEAKER_10

Good piece of hitting by JJ. Took it in between second and first base out to right field.

SPEAKER_04

That will bring Carroll to the plate. Healing has increased their lead here in the bottom of the six. It is now 10-6 Crusaders. Carroll steps to the plate. He'll be followed by Lefavre, who was intentionally walked his last two times up. So it'll be interesting to see what they do with him this time.

SPEAKER_10

Not so sure why the left fielder is playing him that shallow after he just dumped one behind him.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

He is way in. With that wind blowing out, I mean, Tommy gets a hold of another one, lifts it. I mean, that thing's that thing's gonna go forever.

SPEAKER_04

Weber's from the stretch with hope out at second base. Checks on JJ, delivers to the plate. Pitch fouled off at the plate. One ball, one strike. Yeah, when when he starts his windup, he's still looking back at second base. He's not even looking at home.

SPEAKER_10

No. No. Yeah, JJ. But you got a four-run lead here. Do you risk it? Um I mean you I think you can get over to third easy on this guy.

SPEAKER_04

Looks back at JJ at second. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. All of a sudden he's he's kind of lost that outside corner zone. That's good for us, right, Mike?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we'll take that. We are in the bottom of the six. Crusaders have pushed two runs across to increase their lead to 10 to 6. Looking to add. Here's the pitch. That hits him. Carroll takes that one in the back.

SPEAKER_10

The good part about that is now guess what? You cannot intentional walk Lefaver. So here we go. We got two guys on with right now your top hitter at the plate. Got a chance to really add on to his RBIs.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch outside to Caleb for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Shayner due up next. There's only one out here. Crusaders have runners at first and second. Looking to add some more here in the bottom of the sixth. Here's the pitch. Caleb hits that into the gap. That's getting all the way to the fence, folks.

SPEAKER_10

Going to score two more.

SPEAKER_04

Two runs will score. Caleb settles in at second base with a two RBI double.

SPEAKER_10

He talked about those guys on the golf team and what they can do with that golf stroke. That was down and in, and he took that thing. He was a dart out in between right and center field.

SPEAKER_04

Well, at least we know what he can do when he gets older in life. Baseball, baseball is not a thing. He can go out and play golf because he definitely shows he can hit he can hit the low ones right there. Shayner steps in.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he stroked that thing.

SPEAKER_04

Shayner singled his last time up. Healens pushed four across in this inning. They now lead 12 to 6. LaFaver out at second base. That ball bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Well, they did it to us again, John. They waited till late in the game to decide to start pushing runs across, but I guess we'll take them whenever we can get them.

SPEAKER_10

That's right. I mean, six in the fifth, four right now in the sixth. That gives us a nice six-run cushion.

SPEAKER_04

Sure make the scorebook ugly too, whenever you've got to start crossing out innings at the top. Here's the pitch. Oh, nice curveball. Nice curveball that breaks in there.

SPEAKER_10

I haven't seen that from him, Mike. He kind of came down with the elbow there and threw a kind of a nice looper, and not so sure. I mean, I'd I'd go back to that pitch.

SPEAKER_04

One ball, one strike. Weber checks the favorite second. Pitches high for a ball.

SPEAKER_10

Well, he wanted to.

SPEAKER_04

Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good job holding up.

SPEAKER_04

I think the Boyden Hall fans thought he may have gone around on that, but it wasn't even close. No. Weber deals to the plate. That pitch bat. Way inside. Gets away from the catcher. LeFavre takes off to third. He's in there safely.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, I thought that hit his bat. It must not have.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'd like to see him drop that bat just a little quicker. 3-1 count to Brody. Dylan Knapp due up next. One out for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the six. They've added four to increase their lead to 12-6. Two innings ago, they were down six to two.

SPEAKER_10

Good piece of hitting.

SPEAKER_04

Brody fouls that pitch back. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Brody does a good job protecting the plate when he's down 0-2. He did it last night, does it tonight? You know, he's he's very good at the plate, uh, and really he does know his zone extremely well.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Weber.

SPEAKER_10

Outside.

SPEAKER_04

Way outside. Schaehner draws the walk. Runners at first and third for the Crusaders. That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, coach is making a change here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's we will have a pitching change, and we'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, maybe, maybe.

And now back to your crusade. Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We're back here at Bishop Mueller Field. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pitching change for Boyden Hall. Healand has pushed four runs across here in this inning to increase their lead to 12 to 6.

SPEAKER_10

Now let's give us a chance, Mike, to get the get some more of our sponsors in here while he's warming up. Security National Bank, the Service Master of Siouxland, Sioux Body Shop, the Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux City Sprinkler, Sioux City Symphony and Orchestra, Sneaky's Chicken.

SPEAKER_02

I'll be down in a second.

SPEAKER_10

Stolho Kitchen and Bar, St. Augustine Indian Mission, and Sunnybrook Dental, and Tim and Lisa Swadin. Thank you so much for being sponsors of Catholic Radio and Bishop Heelum Baseball.

SPEAKER_04

Can't see the number on who the new pitcher is. We'll reset things here. We've got runners at first and third for the Crusaders and Dylan Knapp at the plate. Shayner takes off from first. Puts himself in scoring position. Got LaFaver at third. One out.

unknown

I'll be back up after best.

SPEAKER_04

Dillon squares. Doesn't offer. Two balls, no strikes. Rodriguez do up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, let's Dylan keep that hot bat. Oh, nice cut. Well.

SPEAKER_04

Big swing and a miss there by Dilly. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, you know.

SPEAKER_10

Get back to what you where you are, Dylan. Keep that head down.

SPEAKER_04

Here's a pitch. And they're low for ball three. Three balls, one strike. Rodriguez would be the ninth batter of the inning.

SPEAKER_10

Boy. Turn down.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan hits that ball deep. Deep into the gap. That's one hopper to the fence.

SPEAKER_10

Well, that's gonna score three.

SPEAKER_04

Two runs will score. Dylan stops at second with the double. That makes the score 14-6.

SPEAKER_10

That's all you need to do. Not that wind blowing out. He got that ball up in the air, and he let the current do the rest of the work, Mike. That thing took off. That uh landed at the what is that, 365 out there? 385. Landed right there in front of the warning track. Yeah, he's 385 mark.

SPEAKER_04

He's not very big, and he just about put that out for Healing's second home run of the season. Rodriguez steps in. Nap at second. Crusaders have pushed six across here in the inning to make it 14-6. Good pitch there on the outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. Dillon going. Dillon takes off for third, no throw down. No balls, two strikes a count to Rodriguez.

SPEAKER_10

I mean, two runs away from ten run reel in this thing, which two innings ago, we were down two.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch high and outside to Rodriguez for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Yeah, a couple innings ago, we were trying to figure out how we were gonna score runs. Yeah. Now Boyden Hull's trying to figure out how they can keep us from scoring runs. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's a good pitch. Inside corner.

SPEAKER_04

Caught Rodriguez looking for the second out. That will bring Gaswent to the plate. Started this inning off with a single and scored a run. Here's the pitch. Way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Pitcher looks in deals. That pitch high. Two balls, no strikes. Nap down at third base. You have to figure on a pass ball, he's gonna score.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, nice hit last time.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch outside for ball three, three balls, no strikes. Put fear into this point in hull pitching with that single last time.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, it he uh I notice he adjusted his stance. He's a little closer to the plate, and and and I'm sure uh, I mean, he's kind of probably gone over a little throwback to third.

SPEAKER_04

Let's let's do it this way, John. His dad has listened to the replays and heard you and I talking about what he needs to do differently at the plate, and that's that's what's caused the uh the positive change. That pitch in there for a strike, three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Well, I'd love to give ourselves credit, but uh I don't think that's probably the case. Hopefully.

SPEAKER_04

No, his dad's coached a lot of baseball, they've watched a lot of baseball, Nathan's played a lot, so yeah. He made the corrections on his own. We had nothing to do with that. Nice piece of hitting there. That's fouled. Fouls that off down the third first baseline, out of play.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good patience. Way to sit back on it. Just missed it, taking it to right field.

SPEAKER_04

Brings the count to 3-2.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he looks extremely comfortable in there right now.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch to Nathan. Oh, wow. Swing and a miss for strike three. That was a tough pitch. That will, in the inning for the Crusaders. They push six across. We're heading to the top of the seventh. Crusaders 14, Boyden Hall six. We'll be back in 30.

SPEAKER_12

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_04

We head to the top of the seventh inning at Bishop Mueller Field. Boynton Hall will send Den Hartog, Luvano, and Kramer to the plate.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I have a few more sponsors to get in here, Mike. I'd like to get for sponsor Catholic Radio, uh, Vance Thompson Vision, SC Profile LLC, Wall of Fame, Graphics Incorporated, Tri-State Dental Care. Wilness Do It Best Hardware, Sioux City in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Ren's Plumbing and Heating, Incorporated, Sioux City, Iowa. Thank you again, sponsoring Bishop Healand Baseball and Catholic Radio. Go out, please. Uh give our sponsors some of your business. They do a lot for Catholic Radio and also for helping us do this for Bishop Healing Baseball.

SPEAKER_04

Den Hartog will step in against Hendricks Heaton. Lines that back out to center field. Van Hartog or Den Hartog on with the single.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, Den Hartog did a great job sitting back. He's obviously seen that curveball from the previous batters and came up looking for it. I mean, there's no question he was looking for that curveball and drove it right right up the middle.

SPEAKER_04

That'll bring Luvano to the plate. Again, Healan leads this one 14-6. We're in the top of the seventh. Runner takes off. Pitch outside for a ball, ball one. Heaton settled in after that leadoff walk last inning, doing a really good job. Delivers to the plate. That ball hit foul to Shaner down at third. Makes count one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_10

Don't pay much attention to him.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch just high for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Kramer do up next.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's important. He came out of this inning. You know, he had had a good first inning. Come back. You know, don't worry about this guy.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Outside gets away from the catcher. Runner takes off.

SPEAKER_08

Oh geez, I don't think he saw him throw it. Oh, he almost let up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Didn't Hartog into third safely. Three balls, one strike to count. That ball hit to Shaner at third. He's coming home.

SPEAKER_10

Throwback.

SPEAKER_04

There we go. And the runner tagged out at third. He started home and stopped. And they were able to get him for out number one.

SPEAKER_10

Good good job by uh by Harpinel. Um I don't think he was expecting that. And I'm sure Coach will talk to Shaner about that. I mean, with the six run, the eight run lead, uh go for the sure out at first base, but uh, I mean, nonetheless, it all worked out. We got the first out, right, Mike?

SPEAKER_04

They want to keep Heaton's ERA at zero.

SPEAKER_10

At zero. There you go.

SPEAKER_04

Gotta bring Kramer to the plate. Luvano over at first. Oh, that that hit him. He'll trot down to first base. Luvano will head down to second, so we've got runners at first and second one out. Crusaders lead 14 to 6. We're in the top of the seventh.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, they got some they got a few big kids here, and us being one of them. It's like a linebacker on the football team.

SPEAKER_04

Heaton deals to the plate. Bounces in there, gets away from Harpina. Runners will advance. Now we have runners at second and third. One out. One ball, no strikes to Weber. Healing leads 14-6. We're in the top of the seventh.

SPEAKER_10

Let's just concentrate on the batter. Let's let's get one out at a time here. Let's get out of this game. Six-run lead, got a nice cushion.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. Way outside. Ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I'll tell you what, his go-to pitch has been this curveball. Yeah, I would see be surprised to see him come back with it. No.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch just inside for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Shows the importance of those runs in the bottom of the sixth down.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Hendricks. That pitch is outside.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good scoop by Zach.

SPEAKER_04

Four pitch walk. We'll load the bases and bring up Van Beek. He has struck out looking, walked and scored a run, and flew out to Carroll and left field his last time up.

SPEAKER_10

Let's manufacture a double play ball here.

SPEAKER_04

Well, we've shown we can turn those.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah. I mean, it's been a long game, especially after two doubleheaders the last two nights.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, get that confidence back, young man. I mean, you got a good defense behind you. Uh get that ball in there somewhere. Let our defense do some work.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch. High and outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Six consecutive balls there.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Noble to follow. Here's the pitch. And it's on the inside corner for strike one. Two balls, one strike. Came in on him and got that corner.

SPEAKER_10

Yep, right at the fist. Just a little bit, just a little bit belt high.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Heaton. Just inside. Three balls, one strike. Batter kind of stuck that arm out hoping he'd get hit by it. Ball hit the hope out at short.

SPEAKER_10

There you go.

SPEAKER_04

Got the runner at second. Luvano will score from third.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, good play by JJ. You know, slow roller to second. I mean, that really was his only play, was to second base on force out. I don't think you had a shot at him at first.

SPEAKER_04

No, he wouldn't have. No. So now there's two outs.

unknown

Beck.

SPEAKER_10

Beck is so smooth over there. He just comes over nonchalantly, catches that ball. I mean, he is so smooth. And the transition back to first base, even though we didn't have a shot at him on the double play.

SPEAKER_04

Healing leads this one 14-7. Heaton looking to finish it off. That ball hit out to gas, went in right field. Another run will score. Bring the score to 14-8. Runners at first and second. Miller will step in. Heaton looking to finish this game off.

SPEAKER_10

Mike, I got two outs. Is there only one?

SPEAKER_04

There's two.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, because the scoreboard has uh one out, but I thought there was two. Oh, got away.

SPEAKER_04

He offered it that pitch for a strike, got away from Harpinaw. Runners will advance, so now you've got runners at second and third. No balls, one strike to Miller.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we've got to do a better job of yelling out where that ball is. When that ball gets by Harpinaw, that's about the third time that he's had trouble finding it. Um and that's the job of the dugout and your pitcher to yell, you know, where that ball is.

SPEAKER_04

Jeffer do up next. Should the inning be extended? That pitch high. One ball, one strike. Healing leads 14-8. We're in the top of the seventh. Here's the pitch by nice pitch. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, he took a little off on that, Mike. Almost looked like a change up there. Yeah, let's finish it here. Come back inside on him.

SPEAKER_04

Here's the pitch by Hendricks. Oh, good by him. Gets away from Harpinaw. Runner will score from third, make it 14-9. And Noble advances to third on the wild pitch. Two balls, two strikes. Two outs. Top of the seventh inning. Crusaders are ahead. 14-9. That pitch low for ball three. Three balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, here we go. Come on, young man. Finish it off.

SPEAKER_04

That pitch just outside for ball four. Miller draws the walk, runners at first and third, two outs. Jeffer will step in.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, dangerous hitter here. Nice.

SPEAKER_04

Good pitch there by Hendricks.

SPEAKER_10

I mean, two more. Just throw them just like that. Outside corner. Make him swing.

SPEAKER_04

Heaton looks in. Runner from first goes. Another strike on the outside corner. No balls, two strikes. Runners at second and third, two outs. Healing leads 14-9. We're in the top of the seventh.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, come in on him. Jam him. He's looking for. Yeah, I think that's where he's going, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Heaton with the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike three to end the game. There we go. Boyden Hall pushes three runs across in the top of the seventh. Final score, 14-9 Crusaders. We're going to keep it here.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, I'm not so sure. Uh we might have Coach Welsman come up just for a little bit, but uh let's see where if he heads up this way or not. Yeah, well, we've got to remember he first year coach, young coach, got a lot on his mind. He might not remember that he said he was going to come up, but let's see.

SPEAKER_04

It's all right. Well while we're waiting, we'll recap this a little bit. Boyden Hull scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take a two to nothing lead. Healing came back with one in the first and one in the second to tie it. Boyton Hall scored two more runs in the fourth inning to take a four-two lead. In the fifth inning, Healan was able to push six runs across to make it eight to four. In the bottom of the sixth, Healan pushed six more runs across to make it fourteen to four. Or fourteen to six, I'm sorry. And then Boyden Hull was able to score three runs in the top of the seventh to bring the score to fourteen to nine, and that's the final.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, really good job. Uh Shaner keeping his composure and Heaton coming in and doing a good job. I know maybe lost a little bit of that composure in this last inning, gave up a few runs, but overall, really good job.

SPEAKER_04

Did a really good job, like we talked about. He came in at a tough spot uh with only a two-run lead, so those additional runs that Healon put on were very handy, uh able to give him a little bit more room to work with. And uh the players that you know made their first appearance today for the Crusaders did an admirable job.

SPEAKER_10

You know, you just you you're trying to scratch out a win. Um you got some hit guys that are injured. You're you're you're on your fifth and sixth game in three days, so you're using every arm available that you have, and and and and you manufacture a win uh that way. You know, that's just good baseball. And as a coach, you're like, yeah, we did this wrong, we did this wrong, but we did this right and we came out with the win.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, absolutely. We are scheduled to be back on pregame 345 with the first pitch at four. It looks like North and Boyden Hall are gonna play here. I don't know if there's another game after that one.

SPEAKER_10

I think Coach is coming up here, Mike.

SPEAKER_04

We will get that information and the folks back at the station will relay it along to you. But we appreciate everybody for joining us this morning. Looks like Coach Wesselman is on his way up. We're gonna do a quick post-game interview. John will talk with Coach Wesselman and get his thoughts. And as soon as we know what the schedule is for the rest of the day, we will have the folks at the station get it to you.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we got Coach Wesselman here. Um, we're gonna do a quick little interview. Uh uh, Coach Wesselman. Uh I know obviously uh some good things, bad things with guys hurt using all of our arms, but you've got to be really happy about the resilience of the comeback here and just getting a win and scratching this out.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, um really nice comeback win. Um started a little slow, but we got the bats going late. Um Brody gave us a gave us what he could. Um first start of the year, he was he was solid. Um liked to limit limit his walks a little bit, but he did a good job on the mound. Um Hendricks came in and closed. Um but I thought we swung it really, really well, uh, especially late. You know, we had uh a couple innings with six, and then we had um one or two innings with one run. So We always had uh base runners on. Uh we were putting the pressure on them and um were able to come from behind and get a nice win to start the day.

SPEAKER_10

Obviously with Le Favre and guys in scoring position, you're gonna probably start seeing this a lot. Uh guys doing uh you know uh intentional walks.

SPEAKER_14

Yep.

SPEAKER_10

And good job by him uh staying, I guess keeping his composure and and coming in on that third time when he actually when they couldn't intentional walk him and stroking that. So I mean he's got a hot bat right now.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, Caleb's swinging it really well for us. He he does so many things that that go unnoticed. Um he's just a he's a really high-level baseball player, um, really smart, does a lot of things for us. Um but yeah, he he's he's swinging the bat really well right now. Um yeah, obviously with the intentional walks, we we gotta um get it to the next guy and we gotta do some damage there and make it hurt. Um but when Caleb got his opportunities, he he put it in the gap and he runs the bases really well for us. So um really good job up and down the lineup of of just putting the pressure on and finding ways to get on base.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, that's awesome. So who are we gonna see pitching in in the second game tonight, Cody?

SPEAKER_14

We'll have uh Jackson Vickery coming in game two. Um it's been a long week. Um we've had a lot of games. Uh we're on, you know, let's see, one, two, three. This is four, five. This is the seventh game that we'll play this week. Um so pitching is is getting to the back end of our of our rotation. Um guys just gotta throw strikes. I I thought Hendricks did a did a nice job today at first time on a varsity mound. He he battled for us. Um I'd like to see him fill it up a little bit more, but he did what we needed him to do. Um and and scoring a bunch of bunch of runs late was huge for us to give us a little bit of a uh cushion and and some insurance for him to to do his thing and work for us.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, we appreciate you coming up here. Uh got to say one more thing. Uh good job by the Harpino kid filling in today.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, obviously, and you know, like I said, it's been a long week, so Peyton could use uh a day off anyway. Um unfortunately, you know, he had a little injury last night, but Zach stepped in and and did what we needed him to do. Um after a couple years off, he he's a little a little raw back there, but he he he did did what we needed him to do and controlled our pitching staff. Um but yeah, it obviously hurts not having Peyton back there. He's he's uh really good catcher for us, and um yeah, he he stepped in and and did his job, did his job.

SPEAKER_10

Well, we appreciate it. We and and I know you want to get to your team and talk to him, but thank you very much for coming up here. We we love it. Good job. Good job today, and let's keep it rolling, man.

SPEAKER_14

Yep, got another one at four.

SPEAKER_10

All right.

SPEAKER_14

Thank you.

SPEAKER_10

Thank you. We're gonna uh wrap this up, Mike. Um we'll be back here at 3 45. Uh any last words from you?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I just found out it's gonna be much later than 3 45. Is that right? The game schedule today was 10-2 or 10 noon, two, and four. The noon game is just getting ready to start, probably in another 15-20 minutes, and it is 1244. So it's gonna be a while. We will not be back at 4. I would say it's probably gonna be closer to 6, sometime between 6 and 7. Uh, once we have a good idea, we'll get it back to the folks at the station, and they'll do their best to get the word out. But we appreciate everybody tuning in, and we're looking forward to another game later today. Thanks everyone for listening and go Crusaders.
