SPEAKER_07Welcome back to Bishop Mueller Field, everyone. I'd like to welcome you back. I know we promoted it as high tea with the Crusaders, but games two and three of the day took a long time, and actually game three is still going on. So now it's dinner with the Crusaders. We had breakfast with Bishop Healan this morning. Now we're going to have dinner with the Crusaders tonight as they wait to take on West Lyon. John Tritz is here with me. He's going to do an abbreviated version tonight. He's going to run over and keep us updated on the Healing Boys soccer game.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I'll be doing uh doing about half the game here. Looks like we're going to get started real quick right after this game. West Lion and North are finishing up in the uh seventh inning as we speak. And and of course we'll take on West Lion uh in the next game. Um maybe just a little preview uh of the Crusaders um back in the first game, Mike. Let's talk a little bit. Uh we came out with a 14-9 win, uh one of those games that uh kind of you could tell the wear and tear of uh of our team after playing two doubleheaders and then turning around and having to probably be here at 8 o'clock in the morning and playing at 10. Took us a little while to wake up. Um injuries on a couple players kept them out, uh, but we were able to scratch away a win. And you know, at the end of the season, you look back at those games, and those are the ones that you gutted out when when maybe uh you know you didn't have everything going your way or the players that you wanted necessarily in the positions.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely. Um all good stepping stones and building blocks uh heading down the rest of the season, and just to kind of let everybody know how much of a team effort it was, JJ Hope was three for five and scored two runs. Tommy Carroll was one for three, scored three runs, had a couple big RBIs, had a walk. Caleb LeFavor was two for two, had a couple walks, scored two runs. Shaner was 0 for 3, had a walk, scored a run. Knapp, he was one for two, had a walk, scored a run. Rodriguez was 0 for 4, he walked, also able to score. Nathan Gaswent finally got the hitting going. He was 2 for 3 with a couple walks, he scored three runs. And then uh Vickery, he was 0 for 2, had a couple walks, and scored a run. So team effort, everybody contributed, and uh Heaton came in in a pretty tough situation with only you know a couple run lead, did a good job.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, all in all, Mike, he he really did. He gutted out uh that first inning that he was in there, did a really nice job. Uh, you know, had a little bit of trouble in the in the seventh inning. Um coach had the confidence in him, stayed with him, and and he gutted it out. There we go, and that finishes this first game. Uh, but we'll keep talking here. Uh West Lyon just got done defeating North 7-3, and of course we'll be taking on West Lyon, and I'll talk a little bit about them in a little bit. Um in between games here, Mike, I had a chance to uh sit down with Coach Wesselman uh and and talk a little bit about the season, you know, and of course his expectations, and you know, of course, he wants to be sharp, sharp, sharp every game, and and in our conversation, you know, we got to talking and and like I like I said to him and and he agreed, you know, at the end of the season uh when the conference is on the line and you look back and and some of those games that maybe you played down to the level of your competition and weren't quite as sharp, but you come out with a W, guess what it looks like at the end of the season? It's huge. It's huge. And nobody knows how that game went. All they see is a W.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely.
SPEAKER_17And he really was excited about the bottom of the order, how the bottom of the order has really stepped up manufacturing runs. I mean, we don't win those two games if our bottom of the order doesn't start playing and start hitting and and getting on base.
SPEAKER_07And those are observations that you and I made Monday night on the way home from Orange City and and even on Wednesday. Uh if the bottom of the order can come through and start putting the bad on the ball, good things are gonna happen.
SPEAKER_17So in this next game, we're um I th I I think uh if I'm not mistaken, we're starting we're starting with Vickery. Uh correct me if I'm wrong, uh, Mike, because he's got the nod at pitching correct. And uh Coach Wesselman said he's got several arms available for this game. I mean, we're on a we're on the sixth game of a three-day stretch, and all arms uh are probably gonna be used. He's got a couple innings uh left in uh in Hope. He's got a uh an inning left, I think, in Gaswin um that he can use. Uh and he's gonna try to get as much out of victory as he can, and this obviously would be uh this young man's first start.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, absolutely. This is probably the most baseball these kids will ever play again in their lives. Uh six games in three days, uh seven games in five days.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he he was uh he was laughing. We were talking about that, and he goes, you know, John, uh uh this is my first year doing the schedule. He goes, definitely gonna do it a little different next year next year and not try to stick all these games in one week. So but let's get through this last one and and let's get a W.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely. It'll be an abbreviated between game session so we can get this going because as everyone knows, uh the field does not have lights, and yeah, at some point uh darkness is gonna creep in and and rear its ugly head, and hopefully we're able to get this game in completely and and get another Crusader win and and move them to ten and one on the season.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, their goal was to get this thing started by 6.15. Anything after that, I think I they were c really considering uh maybe uh just canceling it. But uh I think that North game quick it kind of the pace quick uh picked up a little bit. They got it, they got out of here, and I think we're gonna get going in about five minutes, or as soon as the umpires can get their clothes changed and get back out here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it'll be huge. Let's go ahead and take a two-minute break and we'll be back with the uh starting lineup for healing. I do not have West Lyon, so we'll probably have to do that one on the fly. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. I will go ahead and give you the healing batting order for this game. Leading off, playing shortstop, JJ Hope. Batting second, playing left field will be Tommy Carroll. Batting third and DH'ing will be Caleb Lefaver. He will be DHing for Vickery, who will be pitching. Schainer batting fourth, playing third base. Dylan Knapp batting fifth playing center field. Young Ryden Fralick getting his first start of the season at catcher. Nathan Gass went batting seventh playing right field. Mason Moravic will step in in the eighth slot and play first. And batting ninth will be Chase Beck, and he'll be at second.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I'm real excited to see what uh Ryden can do uh behind the plate. The young man that uh uh I've watched uh since he's a little kid participate in in various sports and and uh I don't know his mom's probably back there nervous as all get up, you know, that he's got his first varsity start uh behind uh as a catcher. Um let's uh a little bit uh about West Lion uh that I did get out of Coach Wesson and in between the games uh Mike was just good athletes. They share athletes in football, basketball, and baseball and track. Several of these kids ran track. Uh coach knows uh a lot about them, talked about them. Um he says, you know, they're just they're not just good baseball players, they're good football players, and they're good basketball players, big kids, strong kids, and and they kind of took it to north in that first game.
SPEAKER_07Yes, they did, and you're right, they're they are some big strong kids and uh had some solid pitching in that first game, uh some good at bats. So looking forward to it'll be a real test for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we're hoping we can get their lineup before the game, but oh hello. I gotta say a shout out to my granddaughter Molly Chikette, who just walked up in the booth with us, Mike. Uh, maybe we get her to call a couple innings.
SPEAKER_07There you go. She'd do a much better job than we can. We got a visitor up here. How are you, young lady?
SPEAKER_17Yeah. Is there anybody you want to say hi to out there in in Sioux City? No? Maybe your mom. All right. Um, talking a little bit about uh West Lion again. Uh you know, I'm sure they're eager. They come down to Sioux City, they get to play North and Healing, two bigger class schools. These would be nice wins and night uh uh, you know, uh good notch on their belt. Uh they can come away with this one here, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it is. They'll come into this game with a 3-0 record. Uh seems like some of the schools in the a lot of the schools in the area are only having one, two, three games whenever they get to us, and and here we are, this will be the 11th game since a week ago last Tuesday.
SPEAKER_17You're absolutely right. And and again, uh what they do, and I've come to find that out, is because a lot of their kids are in track or golf or whatever, they they schedule a little bit later than what we do, and they and they do a lot of JV varsity doubleheaders, you know, instead of playing the the regular varsity doubleheaders, and a lot of that has to do with just arms uh numbers uh for some of the schools out there.
SPEAKER_07We are waiting for the teams to take the field, should be happening shortly. Umpires have not come back out, and of course, once they come out, then that'll really speed things up in terms of getting this game going. Let's take a two-minute break and we'll be back.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field. Once again, John will be leaving here shortly. He'll be going over to the boys substate final game tonight at Memorial Field at 7 o'clock as they take on Perry looking to win and advance to next week's opening round of the state tournament. The Healing Girls Soccer team, they will open their trip to state on Tuesday against Lamar's. That will also be at Memorial Field at 7 o'clock. And should they win that, they would play next Thursday at home to punch their ticket to the state tournament in Ames.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, two uh two really good soccer programs, uh our boys and our girls, and uh very rich in tradition. Uh if you get a chance, uh get out to Memorial Field tonight. I uh they can use you know every uh yelling and cheering and uh possible. Got the coaches here out here. Uh my meeting, I I think we're just waiting for the umpires actually.
SPEAKER_07That's what it appears.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, because that West Lions ready to go and and uh Coach Wesselman and you know and the West Lion coach here talking. They both know they want to get this game in, and you know they they drove all the way here, and and it'd be a shame if they didn't get their doubleheader in.
SPEAKER_07That's true. And we will be back on the air on Tuesday. Healing will be at home to take on Sergeant Bluff. Those games will be at 4-6. Pregame at 3 45, first pitch at 4 o'clock for that first game, and game two pregame would be about 10 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
SPEAKER_17Got an opportunity here, Mike. I think uh we can get some of our underwriters in, some of our sponsors for Bishop Heelum Baseball and Catholic Radio. We can get get some of them in here. Uh we we try to get them all in every game. Uh they do such a great job providing the opportunity for for me and you to do these and bring bring the live action you know into your household. I know there's several grandparents and cousins and and uncles. I talked to the Heatons after the game, and I know they have a lot of family, a lot of family that's listening. So First Bargain Center, Barclay Asphalt, BCU's Catholic Connections and Scholarship, Bob Rose Point After, and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, Catholic Charities, Central Bank of Sioux City and Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Homes, and CNOS Dr. Ryan Meese, Council Loke Supply Company, LLC, Culligan, Cybercloak Tech, LLC, and Dave Pepin Real Estate LLC. Trying to I think we're just, yeah, I mean, we're ready to go. And it looks like we're the we're the visitors in this first game, Mike. Yeah. Even though we're in the in our dugout and and and and technically the home team as far as where we're playing, but uh I don't know if that's something that they agreed to with West Lions since Wentz Lyon was the visitor in the first.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think every I think every team today was guaranteed to be home one time on the scoreboard, and uh it's our turn to be the visitors. JJ's out there, he's taking his swings, he's he's ready to get going for this game.
SPEAKER_17Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Had a little bit of rain earlier, it's gone away, and we are impatiently waiting for this game to start, and as I look out, I see that there's a couple people in the gas went seats, so hopefully that doesn't bring bad luck to the Crusaders. I did get the lineup for West Lyon. Leading off for them playing shortstop will be River Kramer. Batting second, playing third base will be Easton De Young. Batting third, playing first base, Cooper Schoning. Batting fourth and DHing will be Brian Cook. He'll be DHing for Braxton Van Houten, who will be playing in left field. Jax DeYoung will be batting, and he'll be playing catcher. JJ Noblock will be playing in right field. Sam Underberg will be playing center field. Jacob Schimmel will be at second, and Jacob Snyder will be on the mound.
SPEAKER_17Yes. Seven of those players. I'm looking at our stats, Mike, from what we pulled up, and it looks to me like they've had a few of their guys that probably were at the state, uh, either state golf or state track as well as they don't appear on that. So this is their first double header, so we we don't have any stats for them.
SPEAKER_07We tried, folks. I was on early this morning, and they just uh they're not their coaches are busy with stuff, not quite as efficient as ours at getting the stats in immediately after the games. And I know our our coach that puts the stats in was not able to get them in after the first game this morning, so we'll have a more accurate and updated stat line whenever we bring you the games on Tuesday.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we've had absolute beautiful weather the last three nights uh to watch baseball. Uh these fields look absolutely incredible. Um the the Briar Cliff Field, uh freshly mowed. Uh of course you've got the field turf in the in in field, and then and then of course the blue fence that tears with the center with the center field drop is just it's just absolutely gorgeous. It's kids that get an opportunity to come out here and play um when they leave here, they just absolutely love it. You're you really feel like you're in in a little bit bigger uh uh bigger atmosphere than than what some what you play in sometimes.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely. It's gotta be probably one of the finer uh fields that uh some of these teams will play on all year long.
SPEAKER_17You know, and of course, you know, when we talked to Coach Wesselman about the last two doubleheaders about uh playing on grass versus field turf, you know, he was really concerned about the kind of hops that he was gonna get and how the kids haven't had an opportunity to practice on that. Um other than maybe one or two, I thought we handled the the grass extremely well. We had one uh ball hit to JJ Hope that when it got right to him it hit a rock or something and then just ricocheted to the left. That's really the only bad hop that I saw.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's true. And that grass last night at West High was was pretty tall. Uh slowed a lot of the balls down and and really changed the direction and rotation of of some of those.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I I'm I'm not sure what the hold up here is, Mike. I uh you know, maybe uh the umps didn't get the message we wanted to get going in ten minutes, but um yeah, and they're the most important ones.
SPEAKER_07We can't start without them, so hopefully somebody. Got the word to him.
SPEAKER_17Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Let's go ahead and take another two-minute break and we'll be right back.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field, and we have the two most important guys in the ballpark are out at home plate having discussion with the coaches. So we'll have the teams taking the field here very soon. You know, Vickery got his first start of the season today at third base whenever Brody was on the mound, did a really good job, had a really hot liner hit at him. He was able to squeeze that for the out. So it'll be interesting to see uh what he can do on the bump out there. And then like we said, Ryden Fraley getting his first start. I know I've I've watched him a little bit, and uh he's got good skills, uh good arm down to second base. So and watching West Lyon against North, West Lion's not afraid to run. So it it's he's gonna be a busy man back there. Uh when those runners get on, they're gonna be looking to go.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I we watched a little bit, obviously, of the game, well, quite a bit of the game before us. Uh we were here ready to go at four o'clock. So we we pretty much watched this whole game, uh, North and uh and West Lyon. You know, catcher uh is solid, got a really good arm. We saw him pick off a couple guys. Uh they got some live arms. Uh their first two pitchers after I think second inning against North. They shut him, they shut him down. I think it was the score ended up 7-3. I think they only gave up five hits uh in seven innings. So they got some live arms, and this kid's no different. Uh looks like he throws a decent fastball, nice breaker. Um key for us, obviously. Jump on them. We need to jump on him right away, and kind of like what we we did against uh uh against Boyden Hall, get those runs in the early innings and then and then not wait till the sixth and seventh.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, absolutely. Uh don't want to let these pitchers get settled in and get in their groove. So you want to get out and jump on them early and throw them off and and get things going. And JJ Hope, he's finally gonna step in. We're gonna get this game underway here, folks.
SPEAKER_18Here we go.
SPEAKER_07JJ steps in. Snyder deals. Nice that ball fouled, just missed. That was a hot foul ball. The umpire who was behind the home plate for the last two games had to jump out of the way. It it it was just foul. He he was in foul territory and it was slightly to his right.
SPEAKER_17Boy, just didn't miss by much.
SPEAKER_07No balls, one strike to JJ. Here's the pitch. Way up high for ball one, one ball, one strike. Well, we wanted JJ to be aggressive, and can't be more aggressive than swing at that first pitch and roping it down the first baseline.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, the thing about JJ is he gets on and and normally he scores. He's uh by far our leading uh run scorer uh going into the last game with 14, and I think he obviously definitely added to that. Um he scored a couple runs that first game.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch inside two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17That's a tough one to hold up on, but good job.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's it's definitely a key for Bishop Healing to get JJ on and make things happen out on the base pass. Here's a pitch by Schneider. Yeah, JJ hits that out to center field, center fielder settles under it for the first out. One away here in the top of the first. That'll bring Carroll to the plate. He'll be followed by Lefaver.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, good contact. You know, hit that rope right to center field, just missed it. Right or left, you know. I mean he's running.
SPEAKER_07Tommy Carroll steps in. Snyder looks in for the sign, starts his windup. Here's the pitch. Way outside for ball one.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's trying to work that curve ball on the outside corner and works quickly.
SPEAKER_07Carroll bounces that to the third baseman. He scoops it, throws over to first for the second out. Really good play there by the third baseman. That was a really, really short, short hop that he had to scoop up and and make the throw over to first. LaFaver will step in. He'll be followed by Shayner should the inning be extended.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we're right on him. I mean, we're we're making good contact. He isn't fooling anybody yet.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Caleb. Way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_17I'd like to see him make that mistake and put that thing in his wheelhouse. I'd really like to see how far he could hit it.
SPEAKER_07I would too. Here's the pitch. Breaks in there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Two outs. Just getting started here in the top of the first inning. No score. Here's the pitch to Caleb. He hits that hard back out into center field. Lafaver on with a single. That will bring Shaner. He'd be followed by Knapp.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, a beautiful piece of hit, and just taking what the pitcher gives you and driving that ball right up the middle. Um, just just beautiful patience by Caleb and uh nice rope. Call that a frozen rope single, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Yep, all right, right off the T, just like you've talked about.
SPEAKER_17Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Snyder checks Lefaver at first. Deals to the plate. Brody unable to hold up on that for a strike. No ball is one strike. Snyder with the pitch. Swing and a miss by Schayner for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's way ahead of him on that one. Through that curveball on the outside corner. Kind of an outside sweep.
SPEAKER_07Brody steps back in after taking a deep breath. Snyder checks the favor at first. Throws over. Ball gets away. Caleb will head down to second.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. Here we go.
SPEAKER_07I mean got a runner in scoring position here with two outs. No balls, two strikes to Shaner.
SPEAKER_17I mean, base hit, uh, scores them. We talk about getting runs with two outs and manufacturing something here, Mike. And here we go.
SPEAKER_07You know, the thing is, Caleb is so tall. When he dives back into the bag and he's got to get up and take off running, he's got a lot of legs to get under him and get going. Snyder wants to run through the signs again.
SPEAKER_17Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Brody calls timeout, steps out of the box.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, good job by Brody. That was a long time in between pitches. Just kind of sitting out there.
SPEAKER_07Steps back in. We're ready to go here. Snyder delivers. There's a row. Shayner, right where he always puts it. Right under the third baseman's glove. LeFaver advances to third on that. Shaner at first with two outs. LeFaver third. Shamer at first, two outs. Dillon Knapp steps in.
SPEAKER_17Good piece of hitting by Shaner. Waited that ball through a nice curveball in the outside corner, and he sat back and just roped that thing between third baseman and shortstop out to left field.
SPEAKER_07Opportunity for Dillon to drive the first run of the game in here.
SPEAKER_17Well, Dylan's had a hot bat here lately. Let's keep it going.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch by Schneider. Shaner takes off. That pitch foul back out of play. No balls, one strike. Shaner showed a little bit of speed there getting down to second base.
SPEAKER_17I don't mind that. Be aggressive on the bases. I mean, worst case scenario, he gets thrown out. We got Dylan leading off in the next inning. So, I mean, that's one of those things you're willing to gamble with. And he gets to second base. Now you got two guys in scoring position.
SPEAKER_07Here's a wind up. Snyder delivers. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Well, I mean, Brody did it with an 0-2 count. Let's uh let's see what Dylan can do here.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Dylan. There's a roll. Dylan hits that out to right field. Right fiddle hit it right at him. Knapp flies out to right field for the third out. Healing gets a couple guys on, is unable to push him across. We will be back in 30 to the bottom of the first.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field. We have no score after a half inning of play. Crusaders able to get a couple runners on, unable to push them across. As Vickery starts his warm-ups, let you know that West Lion will be sending Kramer, DeYoung, and Schoning to the plate here in the first inning.
SPEAKER_17Well, if I don't get this shout out uh in this game, this young man's gonna come after me. So uh Noah LaFaver. He's been uh he reminded me that I was supposed to give him a shout-out last game and I didn't. And uh so Noah, you're out there with my grandson, uh Elijah Shiket. Um I know you guys are chasing foul balls out there or doing something, so there you go, Noah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, don't make those LaFavers mad.
SPEAKER_17So yeah, he he made sure he told me he said where was my shout out.
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah, I'm sure he's been out here all day watching baseball.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. Yeah, he has. He has you know those parents do a lot of work and and and really want to send out a thank you to to all the parents of of all the sports, but uh especially tonight with the baseball. Without the parents running the concessions and and running the gate, um all that stuff is is just it goes a long way in helping fundraise for Bishop Heel and Baseball. So yes, it does.
SPEAKER_07We appreciate what they do and uh we appreciate parents who when we're at away games they come up and say, Can we buy you guys dinner? And another ballpark hot dog or hamburger that gets us through the week, John.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I've uh told my wife I've uh I've had more hamburgers already this season than I think I did all of last summer, so and we're only in game number 10 and 11.
SPEAKER_07Victory looks in, deals swing and a miss there for strike one, no balls one strike. Looks like they're gonna come out and be aggressive right away.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's working quick.
SPEAKER_07No balls one strike to Kramer. Here's the pitch. That outside for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, again, we got a first uh first time starter in in Ryden in Ryden Frelick behind the dish. Um so far looks pretty comfortable.
SPEAKER_07That ball aligned right to JJ Hope at shortstop for the first out. So one away for West Lion here in the bottom of the second. That'll bring DeYoung to the plate. He'll be followed by Schoning.
SPEAKER_17You know, Ryden's a strong young man, heck of a football player and uh good wrestler. Come from uh, you know, nice pitch outside. That pitch on the outside corner for strike one, no balls one strike. Comes from two athletic families in uh the Frelix and the Maxis, um, and anybody that has any healing ties, probably been to school with one of them.
SPEAKER_07That pitch fouled off. Brings the count to no balls two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Well, I really like the velocity so far with uh with Vickery. He's he's not afraid to he's not afraid to come in on him, and he's not afraid to hit that outside corner.
SPEAKER_07And he's right around the plate.
SPEAKER_17He really is.
SPEAKER_07Here's the wind up in the pitch.
SPEAKER_17Oh, that was that backdoor sweeper, and let me tell you, I I think that thing caught the black uh on that inside corner, but uh umpire thought maybe it came in just a little in.
SPEAKER_07That pitch just outside. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, good waist pitches. Good waist. I like to see him come with that backdoor sweeper one more time, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Two balls, two strikes. Nobody on for West Lion. That ball hit to Hope out at short. He feels it, throws to first. Moravic makes the scoop and the play. What a great play by Mason over there. Good play on both their parts. That's two outs for West Lion here in the bottom of the first. Brings Schoenig to the plate. He'll be followed by Cook.
SPEAKER_17Great play by Moravic. Boy, was he stretched out there too, Mike. I think he's almost in the splits.
SPEAKER_08Well, number 21 Cooper.
SPEAKER_07Oh, we talked a little bit about they've got to bring that throw down now because they don't have a 6'5 guy over there or taller. And they brought it down. That pitch bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I was talking to uh Raiden uh Frelick's mom a little bit, how Raiden really wasn't a natural catcher, converted. Uh you know, he they were looking for a catcher, and he's one of the he raised his hand, and here you go.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch. Pitch high and inside for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Yeah, I remember that hearing about that conversation from Jeff Blander, one of the assistant coaches, and uh I said, How'd you get him to do it? He said, Well, we said we needed a catcher, and he said, I'll do it. Well, that took a big hop out there for JJ, just gets away from Mason. Good stop by JJ. That that caught the green right before he got to the dirt, took a big hop, and JJ was able to jump up and still field it through over. Just got away from Arabic.
SPEAKER_17Well, you don't see that on field turf. That that was extremely I'm not so sure that didn't hit something that's on the field because that, I mean, even though it's green, there really isn't a lip. So I don't know what that hit, but that thing took a heck of a bounce.
SPEAKER_07I didn't know JJ could jump that high.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, that he's lucky that didn't go over and and that kid got a double get a double off that.
SPEAKER_07Shonen with the B lead big lead over at first. Vickery throws over to keep him close.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it's our first chance to look at Vickery and the from the wind up, or excuse me, uh, you know, with somebody on base and coming from the stretch.
SPEAKER_07Throws back over. Schoenig dives back.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, they watched it. These guys in the first game, they're not afraid to run. And they and they got the big number four hitter up here, and he's a big guy, let me tell you.
SPEAKER_07He is, he he took a pitch to the helmet last game, folks, and he just looked at the pitcher and smiled and trotted down to first base. Didn't even feel it. That pitch hit out to gas, went in right field. It's over his head. He's gonna chase it all the way to the fence. One run will score. Runner heading for third. Schoenick scores from first base to make the score one to nothing. West Lyon, and Cook is in there with the triple.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he absolutely smoked that ball over Gaslin's head. And uh good job getting the ball in. And and um but uh the big guy showed actually showed some wheels, man, to get over to third base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, if you could see the size of that kid, you know it went a long way because for him to get to third base is pretty impressive. Jax de Young will step in here with two outs runner on third. West Lion leads one to nothing here in the bottom of the first. That pitch by Vickery in there high for ball one.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, extremely important to keep our composure here and just get out of the inning. You know, no really, I mean, one run. We we've probably the last five games, Mike, we've been behind by a run. So another one.
SPEAKER_07That ball hit out to Gaslin again over his head. Runner heading for third. There's the throw. Not in time. Back-to-back triples for West Lyon. Makes a score two to nothing. Jax DeYoung all the way to third on that triple. That will bring up Nablock, the right fielder.
SPEAKER_17Wait, you know, after those last two, I'm not uh I'd almost rather see Gaswin move back a little bit and come in. Um those guys tag that.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, those those two were two hard-hit balls. Once they got over Gaswin's head, they rolled all the way to the fence. McCarty will pinch run forward a young.
SPEAKER_17You know, they did, and they're doing this with two outs. I mean, we're out of the inning. That ball doesn't hit that uh whatever that hit, and JJ Hope feels that ball clean.
SPEAKER_07Vickery looks in, checks a runner at third, here's the pitch. Way inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Here's the windup, delivers the plate, just fouled back. One ball, one strike. He's thrown good pitches. They've just they've hit him hard when they've hit him. Here's the pitch. High and inside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I Vickery's really actually really throwing well. I mean he's hitting his spots. Um, you know, you take away the two swings, obviously, the two triples.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. That ball hit out to Gaswin again. He's gonna field that one to end the inning. Back-to-back triples by West Lion. Two to nothing after one inning. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back heading to the top of the second. We'll see Ryden Frelick, Nathan Gaswin, and Mason Moravic step to the plate for the Crusaders. Rydens first at bat in a varsity game this year. Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Pitch by Snyder. Outside corner again for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Boy, he's really painting the black on the outside corner there, Mike. I mean, it's that's borderline outside.
SPEAKER_07He's really sitting outside now, hoping he can get a swing and a miss there by Frelick for out number one. First strikeout for Snyder. That'll bring Gaswin to the plate. Had two really solid hits in the first game this morning. Sure he'll want to step in and atone for uh those two balls he got over his head out in the outfield. Snyder looks in and deals. Here's the pitch. Nathan fouls that off straight back. No balls, one strike. Moravic will follow.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Nathan's sitting in there comfortable.
SPEAKER_07Snyder the wind up. Swing and a miss for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's gonna Yeah, he's coming up. He's coming up by his elbows.
SPEAKER_07That pitch just outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17I think the catcher wanted a waist pitch there, and and I mean it still was a ball, but I think he wanted him to come up really high on that. There you go. I don't know where that went. There you go.
SPEAKER_07Get that foul out of play down the third baseline. Just got under a little too much. Count remains one ball, two strikes. Nathan will step back in here and see if he can straighten that one out. Schneider looks in. Starts his wind up. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss by Gaswent for strike two. Two straight strikeouts for Schneider here in the bottom of the or the top of the second. That'll bring Moravic up. He'll be followed by Beck. Moravic will step in from the left side.
SPEAKER_08Number nine, Mason Moravic.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_17I'd like to see SP just a little more aggressive on that first pitch. He's really grooming it.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_17Nice swing.
SPEAKER_07Fouls that back. No balls, two strikes. Well, the top of the order was aggressive on that first pitch. Just got to get the bottom of the order to do the same thing.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's he's grooving, he's grooving that first pitch for a strike every time. And you know, I mean, it's it's really a hittable pitch.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Nice. Nice cut. Bounce foul down the third baseline. Count remain no balls, two strikes. Again, we're in the top of the second inning. Crusaders trail this one two to nothing. Snyder deals. Pitch way outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17He tried to sweep that uh that curve ball around to the outside corner and catch that black. Just missed.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Snyder. Inside almost hit Moravic. That'll bring the count to two balls, two strikes. I thought it did, but that was pretty close.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_07Mason right up on the plate.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he he gets close.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Mason. Fouls that pitch off. Able to fight that one off. Keep the count at two balls, two strikes, two outs here in the top of the second inning.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I like Moravik's stance. He's he's he wants he's challenging the pitch that he's uh come in on me.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Snyder. Yeah. High and outside for ball three.
SPEAKER_17Well, he likes to throw that hang and looper.
SPEAKER_07Full count to Mason. Beck would be next. Moravic can get on.
SPEAKER_17And that's what it is. It's just a hang and looper.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_17Nice cut.
SPEAKER_07Moravic pops it up.
SPEAKER_17Just missed it.
SPEAKER_07Third baseman settles under it. Makes the play for the third out. One, two, three inning. Crusaders trail two to nothing as we head to the bottom of the second. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field on the campus of Bradcliffe University. Bottom of the second inning. West Lion will send Underberg, Schimmel, and Snyders to the plate. West Lyon leads this one 2-0 on the back of back-to-back triples in that first inning to drive in both runs.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, both those hits were tagged pretty good. You know, I I wouldn't be surprised to see next time those guys come up and move Gaswin back a little bit. They got over his head in a hurry. I don't think I don't think he would have had a shot at him, even if he would have been playing about five or ten feet back farther, but it would have been a lot closer.
SPEAKER_07Victory pitch well that first inning.
SPEAKER_17I mean, like I said, that uh JJ Hopes gets a routine grounder to him, a hard hit routine grounder, and and right when it hits that end of the green there, it just ricocheted and he had to jump, you know, basically out of the gym, as we like to say. Yep. To field it and then try to make a really good play at first.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, did a good job uh snagging that ball and made it a close play at first base.
SPEAKER_17Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Hunderberg steps in. Vickery starts his wind up, delivers to the plate. That ball hit to Beck at second base. He feels it, throws over to Moravic at first for the first out. One pitch, one out. Start the bottom of the second.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Beck is so smooth over there. He is so smooth at second base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we're we're we're really solid everywhere out there, but we're really solid at the middle of the infield. He and he and JJ Hope do a good job of covering uh that area out there. Yeah, he Vickery's first pitch to Schimmel in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Beck comes from a good stock. Not only the Beck family, uh he's got some brothers that are good, but the LaFleur family as well. And I'm sure Grandpa and Grandma might be up there on the hill watching as we speak. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_07That pitch fisted out to JJ Hope, folks. And if you thought he jumped high the first time, he really went high for that one and laid out and was able to make that catch. What a play by JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_17Are you kidding me? That is that's an ESPN inner top ten. Him and him and Tommy Carroll in back-to-back nights.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. That was uh he robbed him of a base, he robbed Schimmel of a base hit on that one. Snyder's the pitcher will step in here.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we we talked about in football season how good a hops he had in in timing and getting interceptions, and obviously he he took that into the baseball.
SPEAKER_07Second pitch to Snyder's fouled off. That'll bring the count to one ball, one strike. Very efficient inning so far for Vickery. He's only thrown unofficially four pitches. Vickery looks in, deals to the plate. Nice. That ball breaks in there nicely for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I like the composure of the young man. He's out there, he's confident.
SPEAKER_07And he wants to keep going. He doesn't he doesn't want to waste a whole lot of time between pitches. He deals, delivers that pitch is outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, you can tell he's a competitor. He he snapped that glove when he got that ball back. He wanted that pitch back.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. There he is. In there. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_17The whole team was walking off.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, folks, I that pitch was in there for ball three. Here's the pitch. Got him on the outside corner, and that was not a strike. The one before it was, but that was definitely a call. Caught him looking. We will head to the top of the third. Healing steel trails, two to nothing.

SPEAKER_15And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_07Top of the third inning. Saw some great defensive plays there in that uh bottom of that second inning, John.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, uh, I mean, the play by JJ Hope. Uh we talk about it how each game he just gets better and better at shortstop. And that had to be just that's one of the best plays I've seen at shortstop in a long time. And I'm talking at any level. He literally, I mean, he timed that. I don't know what his vertical is what his vertical is, but he used every inch of it to get that ball.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he did. He'll tell you on that one. It was probably about a 48 or 50. I'm sure he will.
SPEAKER_17I'm sure he will.
SPEAKER_07He probably looked at Carroll when he stood up and said, You can do it, I can too. Yeah. First pitch to Beck. He hits that ball out to left field. Left fielder's trying to settle under it. Yeah. And he does for the first out. Beck comes up being aggressive on that first pitch, just like we need to do every at bat.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's he's just grooving that first pitch. Um, and I'm sure JJ knows it. Let's see where the third baseman's playing now. Oh, he's coming in. This guy's uh he's third baseman's JJ Hope steps in, hit the ball hard the first time to the center fielder.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Pitcher drops that in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he swept that that curveball came in on the inside and caught the black on the inside corner. Nice hit.
SPEAKER_07JJ hits that back out to center field. Oh, yes. Right at the center fielder again. He's hit the ball hard twice. It's just been right at him. JJ Hope retired for the second out in the top of the third. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. Two outs. Healing trails, two to nothing.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we're we are we are hitting the ball hard on this kid. You know, he's not fooling us.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, they've got to start falling here soon. Here's the pitch, Tommy. Yeah. Outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Tommy's been stroking the ball really well here as of late. Making good contact.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Snyders. Bounces in there for ball two, two balls, no strikes. LaFaver due up next. Wind up in the pitch. That pitch on the inside corner for strike one. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Caught the black on the inside corner. I mean, really did a nice job painting it.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Tommy. Nice. He hits it sharply with shortstop. Just beats him with the throw. That'll be a 6-3 put out for the third out of the inning. Crusaders retired 1-2-3. We'll head to the bottom of the third. Healing Trails 2-0. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_17Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_07West Lyon sends Kramer to the plate to start off this inning. He lined out to JJ at short first time up. Pitch on the outside corner for strike one. Vickery deals. Oh boy. Ball just inside for ball one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Well, I like that pitch. I mean, he's up on the plate. Inside corner. He didn't move his glove at all.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch. Just high for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Hickory looks in, goes into his windup, pitches outside for ball three, three balls, one strike. And the pitch. Just high for ball four.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I kind of kind of lost him. He needs to get that follow-through back. He's kind of short arming it there a little bit. Take a deep breath, get back, uh, reach back and get that follow-through. He's coming from the stretch here.
SPEAKER_07Kramer down at first. DeYoung steps in. Grounded out short to first his first time up.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, they I'm anxious to see. I'm sure they're going to test our young freshman and see what kind of uh uh throw he's got down to second. Look for them to do something here.
SPEAKER_07Hickory checks the runner. That pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. And warm-up's riding shows he's got the arm.
SPEAKER_17Oh yeah. Yeah, there's no question he's got the arm. It's just the expression.
SPEAKER_07Vickery throws over. Kramer dives back in, just gets there. No balls, one strike to count. Vickery checks Kramer at first. Deals. Runner goes. No throw down.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Ryden couldn't get it out of his glove. He he came up. It looked like he was going to throw, and I think he just kind of lost the lost the grip of the ball as he was coming to throw it. So good good job holding up, not throwing it into center field.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that pitch was a ball. One ball, one strike. Kramer at second base. DeYoung at the plate. Shoning, who had the first triple, is up next. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_17Boy.
SPEAKER_07Just inside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17I don't know where that's missing, Mike. That that uh unless that's more inside than I than I think it is, but it looks like it's it's painting the black right there.
SPEAKER_07Well, that's where Freilich's setting up, and he's not having to move his gloves, so not sure what what the umpire's seeing that we can't from way up here. Here's the pitch. Well, he wanted to call that. Three balls, one strike. To DeYoung. Again, Shanner do up next.
SPEAKER_17Boy, I wish uh Shoning do up next. Nathan would move back just a couple steps.
SPEAKER_07Pickering comes set. Deals to the plate. That's in there for strike two. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Gutsy pitch. Throws the sweeper on the outside corner, and uh yeah, good curveball.
SPEAKER_07Vickery comes set. Here's the pitch. Low and outside for ball four. So back-to-back walks for West Lyon. Puts runners at first and second with no outs, brings Schoenig to the plate. Again, he got things started for West Lion in the bottom of the first with a triple.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, went right over Gaswin's head here. Took that ball to right field.
SPEAKER_07I mean, Vickery taking a long time looking in. Comes set. And the pitch. Just outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_17Good job by Ryden framing that ball. I mean, a little bit out maybe, but uh, I mean, where he's catching it, uh strike, so good job. I'm sure uh I'm sure Peyton works with him on doing that, and and it really shows.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. That pitch outside. Good stop by Freidelick to keep from going to the backstop. No balls, two strikes. Lyon with the Florida State war chant down in the dugout. That pitch is high for ball three, three balls, no strikes. Runners at first and second. No outs. We're in the bottom of the third. West Lion already leads two to nothing, looking to add to that.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, we we've got a force out at any base that the young man needs to get him hit ground ball here. Let's let's uh let's manufacture a double play for you know get one for sure.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there for a strike, three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he was looking all the way. Yeah, we you we got to keep this uh you you want to keep this a two-three run game.
SPEAKER_07Vickery set. Pitch.
SPEAKER_17That's high fly ball.
SPEAKER_07That pitch is hit high and foul down the third baseline out of play. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he wants the ball. He turned around, looked at right, and get me another ball. He wants to go at it. He's ready to go.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Vickery. Pitch high for ball four. Three straight walks to lead off the inning here.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, coach going up. Calm his young man down here.
SPEAKER_07That will bring Cook to the plate. He had the second double or the second triple in the first inning. Scored the second run. Coach Wesselman out, having a conversation with Vickery and the rest of the infield.
SPEAKER_17That's a good job by Coach Wesselman. It's calm him down. You know, you got to remind everybody we got uh we got four more innings, five more innings to go. And uh let's keep this down. You know, worst case scenario, they get a run here. Um he's gonna remind them that we got to force out at any base. You know, if the ball's hard hit to you, come home. Let's get the lead runner, and and then uh got a chance to double it up, let's do that. Just keeping the infield basically uh at normal, bringing the third baseman in, and the first baseman will probably stay just a little bit behind the runner. Um so the play here is ball hit hard to third base, we're coming home. Anything up the middle, we're gonna turn to and keep it to a one-run, you know, one run inning, hopefully here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the key the key is make good throws, don't start throwing the ball around the ballpark and and letting West Lion just run the bases at will. Fake throw to third, turns and fake throw to first. Moravic moves up to the edge of the grass. Turf, whatever you want to call it. Here's the pitch. That pitch weakly fouled over toward the healing dugout for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I think Big Fellow was going for the for the outfield there. Took a nice cut.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's got a chance to blow this thing open, and he was gonna take every opportunity to do it. Vickery, a long look in. Come set at the belt, delivers. Nice swing and a miss for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Bases are full of West Lion players. No outs here in the bottom of the third. Healing trails two to nothing.
SPEAKER_17Come back with that same pitch. Outside corner. Really had him flat footed on that.
SPEAKER_07Vickery comes set at the belt. Here's the pitch. Just misses inside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, his curved ball didn't break. He's trying to sweep that thing on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_07Third deals. Inside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I mean, and we s and Mike, there's we still don't have an out, so I mean we gotta we gotta get something here.
SPEAKER_07Vickery steps off. Come said, here's the pitch. Yeah. Another pitch high. Yeah. Full count, no place to put him with the bases loaded. Three straight walks to start the inning.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, you just can't get you can't get that thing to break. The last two pitches just they just uh they started off high and ended high. He just didn't get that thing to snap off the you know, snap off the table, as we like to say.
SPEAKER_07Vickery comes set at the belt, deals there. Swing and a miss for strike three.
SPEAKER_17Big out.
SPEAKER_07First out of the inning.
SPEAKER_17That's a huge out.
SPEAKER_07Vickery gets a huge strikeout after three straight walks. That's a huge that will bring Jax De Young to the plate. Steps in from the left side.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, DeYoung tagged one last time. I mean, got to be kind of careful. Uh he has that open stance.
SPEAKER_07There's a pitch. Nice pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he kind of has that open open stance with the uh with the right foot. He he hits from the left side, folks, and he's got that got that right foot kind of just behind the left.
SPEAKER_07Pitch by Vickery. Low and outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Vicker, another long look in, comes set. Third base. Deals to the plate. Oh, nice. Breaks that in there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he was not looking for that pitch, and that thing broke off the table. You know, something that we couldn't get uh on the big guy there. Couldn't get that thing to break. That one definitely, you know, just just jumped right at the end.
SPEAKER_07Back ready to play. Vickery comes set at the belt. He winds and deals. Nice pitch. That ball fouled off. Count remains one ball, two strikes. Base is loaded. One out here in the bottom of the third. Crusaders trail two to nothing.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, third baseman, first baseman are in. We're coming home with this. Anything hit down the right field, left field line, uh, excuse me, and on that side of the infield's coming home.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch by Vicker. That pitch is low. Ball two, two balls, two strikes. Bounces that one in there for ball three.
SPEAKER_17There's no room for him here, so we've got to come after him here.
SPEAKER_07Full count. No place to put him. Healing trails two to nothing. West Lion looking to add to that lead.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, he's taking the taking the count. Here we go.
SPEAKER_07Pitch way outside for ball four. Kramer will score. Makes a score three to nothing. De Young advances to third. Shoning goes to second. Jax DeYoung trots down to first base. That's four walks this inning. Lead to one run. That'll bring Knoblock up. He flew out to gas win his first time up.
SPEAKER_18Here we go.
SPEAKER_07Vickery winds and deals. That ball fouled off behind us for a strike. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_17Again, third baseman in, first baseman in, coming home. Gotta stop the bleeding a little bit here, Mike. I mean, like you said, we they have an opportunity to really open the game up. And uh we gotta we gotta do what we can to prevent that here. And looks like we're gonna come home and nice pitch outside corner.
SPEAKER_07That broke in there perfectly for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Base is full of West Lyon. One out in the inning, one run in. West Lion leads three to nothing here in the bottom of the third.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, Vickery didn't like that call. He wants something else. Here we go. I think he's coming back on that also.
SPEAKER_07Vickery comes set, deals to the plate. Oh, just hit him. And that hits him. That'll bring another run across. That'll bring the score to four to nothing. Schoning will advance to third. Max DeYoung will go to second. Knobloch will take first base on the hit by pitch. That will bring Underberg to the plate. West Lion has not made contact with the ball this inning, put it into play, and they have scored two runs on the strength of three walks and a hit by pitch. One ball, no strikes. Looks like Heaton's heading down to the bullpen to start warm warming up. That ball is popped up. Moravic settles under it over at first base. That'll be the second out of the inning. That will bring Schemmel to the plate. Bases are still loaded. Westline has pushed two across here in the bottom of the third. They lead four to nothing. Here's a first pitch by Vickery. That ball's fouled off into the West Lion dugout for strike one. No balls one strike. John is headed to Memorial Field to watch the boys' soccer game, and he will be providing us with updates as that game goes along. He comes set at the belt. Delivers. That ball hits sharply back up the middle. Dylan Knapp fields it out in center field. Does not make the throw home. Two runs will score. West Lion has runners at first and second. Two outs. Four runs in this inning. And the pitcher Snyder steps in. Healing trails this one six to nothing. We're in the bottom of the third. Three walks and a hit by pitch have helped lead to four runs. Here's the pitch to the plate. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Have to wonder if a little bit of fatigue is starting set in with the Bishop Healing players. They've again this is their seventh game since Monday. Three consecutive days of double headers. Here's the pitch. Just high for ball one. One ball, one strike. Fortunately, the weather's cooled a bit, and it's not as hot as it's been the last couple days, so that's got to be helpful. Victory comes set at the belt. One ball, two strikes, two outs. Runners at first and second. Four runs in. West Lion leads Bishop Healing six to nothing. Here's the pitch by Vickery. Just fouled off. Snyder was able to just get a piece of that to keep the bat bat alive. Should Snyder get on, Kramer would be up. Snyder struck out looking his first time up. Wind up in the pitch. Just outside. Two on, two out. Vickery comes set in the stretch. And the pitch. High. Brings the count full. Runners will be off with the pitch. Three balls, two strikes. Runners at first and second, two outs. Bottom of the third inning. Here's the pitch by Vickery. High for ball four. That will be the fifth walk of the inning and a hit by pitch. Keeps the inning alive. Kramer led this inning off with a walk. Came around and scored. We will go ahead and take a break. We'll be back in two minutes.

SPEAKER_07We come back, he comes into a situation where the bases are loaded. Two outs. Westline has pushed four runs across. Several walks and a hit by pitch have helped put those runners on base and push those runs across. Here's Hendricks with the first pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Again, he came in this this morning in relief. Did a really good job. Pitching from the full wind up. Here's the pitch. Head in there for strike two. Frelick throws down to first. Try to get the runner. What's sleeping? He's able to dive back in. No balls, two strikes, two outs. Base is loaded. Crusaders trail six to nothing here in the bottom of the third. Here's the pitch. That ball hit out to left center. Dylan Knapp gives chase. One run will score. Two runs will score. Three runs will score. Scores now nine to nothing. A basis clearing double by Kramer. That makes the score nine to nothing. West Lyon. And that will bring DeYoung to the plate. DeYoung grounded short to first his first time up. And was the second of back-to-back walks and scored a run earlier in this inning. West Lyon has nine runs on four hits, no errors. Bishop Healing, no runs, two hits, no errors. Seven runs in the inning for West Lyon. Kramer at second. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Heaton taking a long look in. Come set at the belt. And here's the pitch. Bounces that one in there. Two balls, one strike. Shoning would be due up next. Heat much like this morning, very deliberate between pitches. Here's the pitch. That pitch way outside. Three balls, one strike. Healon would dearly love to get out of this inning and get up and try to get their bats going. Try to put some runs on the board. Heaton checks the runner at second. That's outside for ball four. Puts runners at first and second with two outs. That'll bring Schoening to the plate. He'll be followed by Cook. Schoen singled his first time up and has scored two runs. Pitch by Heaton. High and inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Healing's pitchers are really struggling to find the zone tonight. Throwing a lot of pitches, and a lot of those have been balls. Heaton checks the runner at second, delivers to the plate. That ball is hit high down the third baseline. Hope over to make the play. Brings it in. Seven runs in the inning for West Lyon. They lead this one nine to nothing. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_07LaFavor will step in. He'll be followed by Shayner and Knapp. Try to get things going here in the top of the fourth inning. Healing trails this one. First pitch to Caleb. Low and outside for a ball. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. Like to thank Heidman Law Firm and Heinmann Family Dennistry for their support of Catholic Radio. Another pitch to Caleb outside. Two balls, no strikes. Snyder working quickly here. That pitch bounces in there for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Caleb singled his first time up. Here's the pitch. On the outside corner for strike one. Three balls, one strike. Like to thank Iman Communications, J and J Coins and Collectibles, and Jimmy Johns for their support of Catholic Radio. Caleb hits that ball hard out right to the center fielder. He doesn't have to move to make the catch. One away here in the top of the fourth. That'll bring Shaner to the plate. And if it sounds a little odd that I'm saying Healing is the visitors, that's because they were the home team earlier today. And every team in this tournament was guaranteed to be the home team once. Here's the pitch to Brody. He fouls that one straight back for strike one. No balls, one strike. Again, we will be on the air Tuesday. Doubleheader against Sergeant Bluff. Four and six. Pre game will be 3.45 for game number one. First pitch at 4 o'clock. That pitch bounces into Brody. One ball, one strike. The Healing Girls soccer team will take on Lamar's Bulldogs on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Field. Here's the pitch by Snyder. Way inside. Two balls, one strike. Here's the pitch to Brody. Way out in front of that one and hits it foul out of play down the third baseline. That'll make the count. Two balls, two strikes. One out here in the top of the fourth. Nap is due up next. Wind in the pitch by Schneider. Brody early on that one again. Hits it just past the heel and dugout down the third baseline. That'll keep the count at two balls, two strikes. One out. Nine to two West Line in the top of the fourth. Here's the pitch. That pitch is low and outside for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Full count on Brody. Need to get some runners on here so we can try to get them across and cut into this lead. Pitch to Brody. Almost hits him for ball four. Schainer draws the walk. He'll trot down to first base. That'll bring Knapp to the plate. He'll be followed by Ryden Frelick. I'd like to thank Keller Williams Real Estate, Agent Tammy Bertrand, and Cruz Financial for supporting Catholic Radio and Healing Athletics. Dylan steps in. He flew out to the right fielder his first time up. That pitch high and inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Delivery to Dilly. That pitch gets him. Dillon will take first base on the hit by pitch. Shaner will advance down to second. Crusaders have two men on with one out here in the top of the fourth. That will bring Ryden Frelick to the plate. Healin wearing their white jerseys, blue numbers, white pants, and blue stripe down the side. Crusaders in cursive across the chest. Umpire's up to something. Alright, here we go. Ready to play ball. Schaehner at second, knapp at first, one out. Ryden Frelick at the plate. Here's the pitch. Ryden hits that one out to right field. Right fielder takes a few steps back. Makes the catch. Well hit ball by Raiden. Unfortunately, it was right at the left fielder. That will bring Gaswent. He struck out his first time up. Two outs, runners at first and second. Healan looking to push a run or two across here in the top of the fourth. Snyder checks the runner at second. Here's the pitch. Nathan hits that foul down the third baseline. Scooped up by the third baseman. Gets it back to the pitcher. No balls, one strike. Nathan steps back in. Neither runner really being held on out on the base pass. Here's the pitch. That pitch was in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Two on, two outs, two strikes, and Nathan Gas went. Snyder deals that ball way outside. One ball, two strikes. Snyder comes set, and the pitch. Just fouled off. Nathan's able to get a piece of that. Keep the at bat alive. Two balls, two strikes. Again, Healing trails this one nine to nothing. We're in the top of the fourth. Seven runs in the bottom of the third by West Lyon. Blew this one open. Here's the pitch by Snyder. Way outside. Ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Moravic would be up next if Gaswin is able to extend this inning. Here's the pitch to Nathan. Runners on moving. Nathan hits that sharply to the shortstop. He's going to make the throw over to first. First baseman scoops it up, makes a great play. Gaswin out six to three for the third out of the fourth inning. We will head to the bottom of the fourth. Crusaders trail nine to nothing. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_07Welcome back to Bishop Heelum Baseball. We head to the bottom of the fourth. West Lion will send Cook, Jax DeYoung, and Knoblock to the plate. Like to give a shout-out to some more of our underwriters. Like to thank Lawler Fixtures, Liberty National Bank, Lightform, Modern Day Parish, McClintock Insurance, Meyer Brothers Funeral Home, Mill Shellhammer Pitts, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, and Mollet Industrial Group. We appreciate everything you guys do for Catholic Radio and for Bishop Healand. Here's the first pitch. Low and inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Again, Heaton came in in relief of victory in the last inning. That pitch on the outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike. That pitch behind Cook. Two balls, one strike. Eaton works quickly. Here's a delivery to the plate. That ball bounced just foul down the third baseline. Two balls, two strikes. Nobody out. Cook steps back in. That will bring the count full. Heaton deal, swing and a miss, strike three. Good pitch right there. He fooled him on that one. That's the first out of the bottom of the fourth. That will bring Jax DeYoung to the plate.
SPEAKER_08Well, Jax DeYoung.
SPEAKER_07He'll step in from the left side. He was hit by a pitch the last time, scored a run. Also flew out to Gaswent in the first inning. That pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Healing Boys lead one to nothing currently. Over at Memorial Field. Here's the pitch. That's in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. Got to be close to halftime at this point over at the soccer game. Here's the pitch. That pitch on the inside corner for strike two. DeYoung is really right up on that plate, and Vickery is working that inside corner. It's really hard. Really hard for a batter to hit that ball when they're that close to the plate and that ball is that far inside. Here's the pitch. Two balls, two strikes. And I apologize. It's Heaton out there. Heaton doing a good job painting that inside corner. That pitch just inside. Three balls, two strikes, one out. Bottom of the fourth. Crusaders trail nine to nothing. Here's the pitch by Heaton. Outside for ball four. DeYo draws the walk. He'll run down to first base. That will bring Nabok Nablock to the plate. Inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Heaton again checks the runner at first. Tries to curve that ball in there. Just misses inside. Two balls, no strikes. Underberg would be next. Double play would be really handy here. Turned a couple of those earlier today. Be nice to get another one here. Heaton comes set. Deals. Inside for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for a strike. Three balls, one strike. Walks have really hurt the Crusaders here in this inning. Or this game. Here's the pitch. Inside ball four. That'll put runners at first and second with one out. That'll bring Underberg to the plate. He'll be followed by Schummel. Underberg steps in from the left side.
SPEAKER_08Sam Underberg.
SPEAKER_07Grounded out second to first, his first time up, and popped out to Moravik over at first. Second time up. He steps in here looking to try to drive another run across. Here's the pitch. Way inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Heaton looks in and comes set. Delivers to the plate. That ball bounces in there for ball two. Gets away from Frelick. Runners will advance. Runners now at second and third with one out. We're in the bottom of the fourth. Crusaders trail nine to nothing. Heaton starts his windup, delivers. That ball hit just over J.J. Hope's glove. He's not able to use that elevation to make that catch. Underberg with the double. Two runs will score. That brings the score to 11-0 here in the bottom of the fourth. West Lyon has Underberg at second. There's one out, and Schimmel steps in. Schummel lined out to JJ Hope his first time up and singled his last time up. Scored a run. Coach Wesselman headed out to have a visit with young Mr. Heaton. Not sure if he's going to make a pitching change or just walk out there and try to settle him down a little bit. We are having a change. Looks like Heaton will exit the game, and it looks like Tommy Carroll will come in. Relief. We will take a two-minute break and we will be back. Thank you for listening to Crusader Baseball.

SPEAKER_07We are back at Bishop Mueller Field. Tommy Carroll just finishing his warm-ups. He and Heaton switch spots. Carroll comes into pitch. Heaton goes out to left field. Schimmel will step in. Underberg at second base after hitting uh two-run double. Scores 11-0. We're in the bottom of the fourth. There's one out. Here's the first pitch by Carroll. That pitch fouled back out of play. No balls, one strike. This will definitely be a game that the Crusaders want to forget, but it's also one that they will learn and grow from. They've been able to get some young arms out there and get them some experience on the mound, which can always come in handy down the road. Never know when you're going to need that later in the season. That pitch breaks in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Carroll looks in. And he comes set, checks the runner at second. He winds deals. That ball hit foul and out of play down the third baseline. Count remains. No balls, two strikes. Carroll comes set, checks the runner at second. Delivers to the plate. That ball fouled weakly down the third baseline. Mishandled by the third base coach. Count remains. No balls, two strikes. One out. Two runs in. Underberg at second base. Carroll deals. That pitch foul down the first baseline. Moravi gives chase. Tries to make a sliding diving catch. Unable to get there. Count will remain. No balls, two strikes. That Healing Boys soccer score is one to nothing at halftime. If they win, they advance to the next game next week in the state tournament. Here's the pitch. Just missed for ball one. One ball, two strikes. The boys do a little differently. Healing wins tonight. They'll play at a neutral site. And then if they win that, they will move on. And their next game would be in Des Moines. The girls, the entire state tournament is done all at one side and aims. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there. Two balls, two strikes. Healing Girls softball team in action in their tournament this weekend. They should be getting ready if all their games have been on time today. They should be ready for the first pitch around 8 o'clock. Here's the pitch by Carroll. Gets away from Frelick. That was ball four. Schummel trots down to first. Hunderberg takes third on the passball. And that will bring Snyders up to the plate. We're in the bottom of the fourth. Healing trails this and 11-0. West Lyon has pushed two runs across in this inning. That was only ball three. I was right that time. I had it as ball three. West Lion tried to fool us and the umpire. So Schimmel will step back in. Full count. Underberg down at third. Here's the pitch by Carroll. That gets Under Brody's glove out at third base. Underberg will score to make it 12 to nothing. And Schimmel is on. First base with a single. Snyder lined out to JJ in the first inning. Or Kramer did, I'm sorry. Actually, Snyder. Caught looking the first time up, walked a second time up, and scored a run. First pitch, ball one. One ball, no strikes. Carroll looks in. Checks the runner at first. Comes set. Deals to the plate. Runner goes. At pitch inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Runner in second base safely. 12 runs on six hits for West Lion. No runs on two hits for the Crusaders. West Lyon scored two in the first, seven in the third, and so far three here in the fourth. Here's the pitch by Tommy. That pitch outside. Ball three, three balls, no strikes. Kramer would be due up next. Here's the pitch. On that outside corner for strike one. Three balls, one strike. Schummel at second. Three runs in this inning. One out. Bottom of the fourth. Twelve to nothing. West Lyon. Carroll checks the runner back at second. At the pitch outside for ball four. Puts runners at first and second with one out. That'll bring Kramer to the plate. Deals. Pitches high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Pitch by Carroll. Outside ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Came in and got two strikes right away on Schimmel, walked him, and then walked Snyder on five pitches. That pitch fouled off. Two balls, one strike. DeYoung would be next. That pitch high. Ball three, three balls, one strike. Carol checks the runner back. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball four. Baces are loaded. And Young will step in. Healing trails this one. Twelve to nothing. Bottom of the fourth inning. That first pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Shoning would be next. Pitch high and outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Like to give a big shout out to Grace Tot. She's been wonderful today. Spent her time keeping up with what was going on between games so she would know when to bring us back on the air. Appreciate all that Jake does and Grace when these games are on. Here's the pitch. In there for a strike. One ball, two strikes. Base is loaded, one out. Bottom of the fourth inning. Carroll takes a long look in. Here's the pitch. That ball hit out to Heaton in left field. It'll get past him. It'll go to the wall. One run scores. Two run score. Great relay by Heaton to Hope. To Frelick at home plate. Runner Kramer thrown out at home for the second out. Two runs due score. That makes a score 14 to nothing. Five runs by West Lyon here in this inning. DeYoung with the double. Goes to third on the throw home. That was a great, great throw from Heaton to Hope, and then a great relay home. And Frelick put the tag on. That pitch in there for a strike. Strike one. No balls, one strike. Heaton threw that from the fence out there. One hopped it to Hope, and then Hope threw it home. Outside, ball one. One ball, one strike. We've talked about ending on positives earlier, whenever things didn't go right up in Orange City, and that's what Healan needs to try to do here. Get some positives going. That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, two strikes. And use those as they go forward and get ready for Sergeant Bluff on Tuesday. Carol a log long look into Frelick. Checks the runner at third. Deals. That pitch is outside. Two balls, two strikes. Schoning is the ninth batter to come to the plate this inning. Here's the pitch. Outside, ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Runner at third, two outs. Carroll delivers. That pitch is popped up. JJ Hope over to make the play. Does up against the fence for the third out. West Lion scores one, two, three, five runs in that inning. We go to the top of the fifth. Crusaders trail 14-0. I'll be back in one minute.
SPEAKER_19You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Ponco Sioux City, and K O I A, Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_07Welcome back, folks, for Bishop Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs bringing you the action. We are heading to the top of the fifth. It will be Moravic, Beck, and JJ Hope. Healing Trails 14 to nothing. If they want to extend that past this game, past this inning, they're going to need to put five runs across, or the game will be over. So Moravic wants to step in and see if he can get things going here. Snyder still out on the mound. Really held the healing batters in check tonight. Here's that first pitch. Outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Wind in the pitch. That pitch is outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Mason right up there on the plate. Here's the pitch to Mason. He hits that out to pops it between second and right field. Right fielder comes in, settles under it, makes the play for the first out. One down here in the top of the fifth. That will bring Beck to the plate. Chase flew out to left field his first time up. JJ Hope would follow. Beck hits that ball hard down to the third baseman. Makes a great play over there. Throws it over to first for the second out. It all comes down to JJ Hope. Two outs, top of the fifth. Healing trails 14 to nothing.
unknownJJ Hope.
SPEAKER_07He'll be followed by Carroll. Should he be able to extend the inning? Here's the first pitch to JJ. JJ bounces that out to the shortstop. Shortstop makes a great play. Over to first, gets away from the first baseman. JJ wisely stays at first base. JJ Hope at first, two outs. Tommy Carroll steps in.
SPEAKER_08Number eight, Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_07JJ takes a good lead over there. Tommy hits that hard down the third baseline. Pass the outstretched glove of the third baseman. We've got runners at first and second with two outs. That will bring Caleb LaFaver to the plate. Back-to-back singles by the Crusaders. Trying to do what they can to extend this game. Caleb grounded out third to first and short to first, both times up. No balls, one strike. Caleb actually singled his first time up. So he's reached base again. Here's the pitch to Caleb. He hits that out. That's over the center fielder's head. One run's gonna score. Two runs will score. LaFaver with the two-run double. That makes a score 14-2.
SPEAKER_08Double by LaFaver for JJ scores from second.

SPEAKER_07Snyder looks into Dylan. Here's the pitch. Dillon just fouls that off. Strike one. No balls, one strike. Snyder a long look in, comes set. Here's the pitch. Way outside. Dylan takes a swing at it anyway. It's no balls, two strikes. Really fool Dylan on that one. Dylan's got that look of I can't believe I swung at that on his face. No balls, two strikes, two outs, two runners on. Healing trying to extend this inning. Here's the pitch. Outside for strike three. And that will do it, folks. Final here from Bishop Mueller Field. West Lion 14. Healing 2. The story of the game is walks. Healing pitching struggled finding the strike zone, getting batters out, and that led to quite a few runs for West Lion. They were able to score two in the first on back-to-back triples. They scored seven in the third, mostly on walks and hit by pitches. And again, they scored five in the fourth. And that was due to a walk, a double, and a single. Not the uh way to end the day that the Crusaders wanted to, but again, it's their seventh game since Monday. And they put on a great performance all week long. They're going to grow and learn from this. Uh now it's time to maybe take a day off and then come back at it and get ready for Sergeant Bluff on Tuesday. That will be our next game. Games are at four and six. Pre game on Tuesday at three forty five. I'm Mike Skaggs. I appreciate you folks listening. And go Crusaders. We'll see you next week.
