SPEAKER_09Gotta be a lot of outside corner pitching tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Welcome everybody. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. We are up in Lamar's and we are outside, folks. We're gonna do the best we can to try to cut down on the outside noise of the wind, and we are right under their speaker, and softball is playing behind us. They're getting ready to start, so we'll keep you updated on the girls' softball game as well. John, uh, let's talk a little bit about Monday night. We'll make it quick. Uh they just need to come out tonight and put that behind them, and this coaching staff needs to come together, uh, work together to get this team going back in the right direction.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely, Mike. Uh and that's exact uh words that Coach Wesselman when I talked to him used. He said, you know, we did a lot of really good things, especially in the first game. And we out hit him. Um our situation ball when we did have runners on base was pretty good. Difference was, you know, they they hit with two outs, they bound a few triples that scored some guys, and we had a few, and we talked about that. We had a few miscues. They cleaned that up and come out like they did. Um they're gonna be alright. They're gonna be alright tonight.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we've got uh we've got some people in in some different spots. We got some new faces in the lineup that we'll go over here in a little bit. Uh let's talk a little bit about the first time these two teams met. It was first uh double header of the season, and originally it was supposed to be up here, but due to rain, we moved it to Bishop Healing, and that's why we're up in Lamar's tonight. Uh Healing won the first two games. They won the first game five to one and won the second game ten to nothing. But we you know we talked to Lamar's coaches after the game, and they're not a bad ball club.
SPEAKER_09No, and I and I had a chance to uh to talk to uh coach uh before the before the game today, and what he said last last uh the last time we met was we want to be there in the seventh inning. And they were the first game against us. I mean, we didn't break that open until the sixth and seventh inning, and he said the same thing tonight, exact same thing. He said, We've been we've been around a lot of games in the fifth and sixth inning, and then it's like all of a sudden teams say, Oh, they're still here, and then they kind of turn it on. He says, We need to be there in the seventh inning, and that's his goal tonight.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, for you know, you and I, we follow a lot of sports, and I know people out there that do. If if you're a team that doesn't quite have the talent that the team you're you're competing against, the longer you can hang around, you start to put doubt in that other team's mind, and that gives you the opportunity and possibly the ability to get a win that you're not supposed to get.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, absolutely. And uh, and that's kind of what he's hoping. You know, we're in the middle of the season, and his focus now between now and the end of the season is how do we finish a ball game. And I'm gonna go back about five to ten years, Mike, and and Healing had a really good ball club. We came up came up here, I think it was up here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it was up here.
SPEAKER_09I remember Lamar's did not have a really good ball club, but they got hot at the end of the season and knocked us off.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I remember that very well. I remember driving home and like, how does a team with the talent that Healin had lose? And it's not that Healan played bad, it's just Lamars was able to do the the little things when they needed to do them and able to pull that win out.
SPEAKER_09Right. And and right now is when you want to start doing that. We're in the middle of the season, all right. Guys are gonna, you know, you want your guys to start getting hot, you want them to get get on a roll, and you want them to take that right into the into the you know, in the postseason play.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely. I know that you know the rest of the way, like you said, Lamar's is gonna get better and they're gonna give teams fit. Healing comes into this game with a record of 13-6, 10-4 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. They're on a two-game losing streak. Lamar's comes into this game with a record of 3-13, 3-11 in the Missouri River Activities Conference, and they've lost nine in a row. So they're looking to end that nine-game losing streak tonight against us, whether it's the first game or the second game. They they want to get out of here with at least one win and build on that and feel good about themselves as they move on.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and and and we would be wrong if we didn't talk a little bit. We're gonna be without obviously our top hitter in Caleb Lefaver. Um, and I talked to Coach before the game uh saying, hey, what can we or what can we not say? And and uh and what Coach Wesselman said, hey, it's okay, just tell people he's getting he's getting ready for the major league combine, and so we won't have him for at least a week, and then we'll see from there on based based off of what happened.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so this is this is one of those opportunities where earlier in the season some of these younger kids got a chance to play, and and now it's their chance to show what they can do.
SPEAKER_09Yep, next one up, Mike. That's the attitude they have to have.
SPEAKER_07Let's take a two-minute break, and we will be back to Lamar's.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Welcome back to a beautiful windy day in Lamar, Iowa. The wind is blowing straight out, so anything that gets up in the air is going to give the outfielders fits and may even clear the fence. We might get to see several home runs tonight, John.
SPEAKER_09Well, I'm gonna tell you right now, ball's got to be low, and the ball's got to be on the outside corner to left-handed batters, and on the inside corner to right-handed batters, because all you need to do today is hit a hit a pop fly. Because not only is the wind blowing straight out, Mike, but these are short fences. And you hit something up, you get a hold of one today, and it's gonna, it's probably gonna hit the school.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we there's some there's some vehicles that might be in the in the uh landing zone, danger zone out there. Yeah. Let's go ahead and get the starting lineups here for you. For Bishop Healing, a little bit of change in the lineup, leading off, playing center field, be Tommy Carroll. He comes in with the batting average of 315. Batting second, Peyton Erickson, he comes in with the batting average of 250, and he'll be playing catcher. Batting third, JJ Hope, the shortstop. He comes in with the batting average of 369. Brody Shaner will be batting fourth, playing first base. He comes in with a batting average of 339. Has a couple home runs on the season. Dylan Knapp, he'll be pitching and batting fifth. Dylan comes in with a batting average of 311. Nathan Gaswin will be playing right field, batting sixth. Nathan comes in with a batting average of 275. Alex Rodriguez will be DHing, batting seventh. Alex comes in with a batting average of 308, and he will be DHing for Cal Gesey, who will get his first opportunity to be on the field for the varstead, and Cal will be playing second base. Chase comes into this game with a batting average of 220. Heal is in the blue tops with white lettering, great pants, and blue stripe down the side. Some of the guys have the old-fashioned stirrups, and the others have the new style pants down to your ankles.
SPEAKER_08Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's Missouri River activity. I love the old-fashioned between the Bishop Healing Crusaders and your Lamar's Bulldog.
SPEAKER_09This is kind of a cool setting. A dual national anthem. I've never seen that.
SPEAKER_07No, I haven't either. They exacted their revenge on the East High softball team.
SPEAKER_08In right field, number 25, Nathan last win. Designated hitter for the success. Let me adjust my speaker here just a little, Mike.
SPEAKER_10So I can hear you a little bit left field.
SPEAKER_08Number nine. There we go. I'm rounding out the lineup basement.
SPEAKER_09Number 13, Chase back. With the loss of uh of Lefre in the lineup, I really do kind of like what he's doing here tonight. I mean, this is our first chance to see Geecey as a player. And Geese's got some serious speed, which just adds to what's in that JJ Hope Chase Beck. Catching number five. It actually increases our speed, I think, a little bit.
SPEAKER_08Number six, Ben Legonator in center field. Number ten, Isaiah Tolzine.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it'll be uh hopefully we get to see uh Cal on the bases at some point tonight because like you said, he's got a lot of speed and that just that gives us more opportunities to steal bases and rounding out the pitching baseman number seven for the first one. For Lamar's Bulldogs tonight will be Gavin Clary. He started the first game against Healing. He started two games as a record of one and one teams are batting 333 against him. He's given up 23 hits, 15 runs, 14 of those have been earned. He's walked 12, hit one batter, and it struck out 19. He's got an ERA of 6.12, but uh he did an impressive job. I I remember watching him last year. Uh very he was a freshman last year, did a really good job against a really good healing team, and and started, you know, did a great job, like we said, they only they only lost five to one. He kept he he kept Lamar's in that first game.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he did he really did um through well. Uh if I'm not mistaken, is he not a relative, maybe? Yeah, he's that's what I want to do.
SPEAKER_07One of my wife's 107 first cousins grandsons.
SPEAKER_09So well, I'll tell you what I I do like here is is I I really kind of like this move having Tommy Carroll lead off because we've talked about it several times. Tommy Carroll's a contact hitter, he doesn't strike out a lot, he makes contact, and and and if he gets on base, he's kind of got deceiving speed. And well we've seen him play football, and we've also seen him play basketball, and and and just a really good athlete.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, back to your point. Tom, he's only struck out five times this year, so yeah. He he puts the ball in play and gets on base. First pitch. That pitch is low for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Well, but that's where you want to keep it tonight.
SPEAKER_07You do not want to get it in the wheelhouse. Here's the wind up and the pitch. Grounded foul down the third baseline. One ball, one strike. Lamar's is in all black uniforms. That seems to be their. I don't know if that's their main uniform, but it's the one they always wear against Healing. They've got red lettering and red stripes down the pants.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I kind of like the Healing combo here, the dark tops and the gray and the gray bottoms.
SPEAKER_07Here's the wind up by Clary and the pitch. There you go. Fouled off out of play. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Tommy's doing a really good job up there. He looks comfortable. I mean, Clary's gonna throw your strikes. We saw that in the first double header. He's gonna throw you something to hit.
SPEAKER_07And here's the pitch. That pitch in there high. Ball two, two balls, two strikes. He works fairly quickly, too.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07And the pitch. Fouled off again. Count remains, two balls, two strikes. Erickson will follow. JJ Hope will follow him.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's come fastball, fastball, fastball here. Got a feeling he's gonna throw that curveball. Here's the pitch. And there it is.
SPEAKER_07That pitch fouled off. Yeah. Six pitch at bat so far for Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_09Good at that. Good at that. You know, I was wondering when he was gonna throw that curve. We saw that uh that curve ball in the first doubleheader, and it's not a bad curve.
SPEAKER_07No, it's got good movement on it, breaks well. Here's the wind up in the pitch. That pitch hit out between center and left. Center fielder makes a running diving catch. What a great play by the center fielder on that one for the first out. He laid out for that, folks, and was able to make the catch.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nice piece of hitting by Tommy Carroll. Put that ball in between center and left, and just a beautiful layout catch by the center fielder.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he he put it where we talked about you need to put it. Center fielder just made a really great play on that.
SPEAKER_09That's Isaiah Tolson for the Lamar's Bulldogs. They've got to give that kid some do. Great play.
SPEAKER_07Peyton Erickson steps in, JJ Hope on deck. Here's the first pitch to JJ. Fouled off. Strike one. No balls, one strike. Just getting started here in Lamar's on top of the first inning. It's no score.
SPEAKER_09You know, with Peyton with his power, you know, he's one of those kids that we have that just get that ball up in the air tonight.
SPEAKER_07Here's the wind up in the pitch. Drops in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nice curve ball in the inside corner.
SPEAKER_07Here's the wind up in the pitch. That ball hit to the shortstop. Feels it bounces over to the first baseman, but is able to make the play for the second out. That'll retire Erickson. That will bring up JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_09Well, I tell you right there, any ball hit to the short, now I don't know. I didn't know if you noticed that. But he does not have a good arm over there with their shortstop. So any ball we hit to the ground, to the shortstop, we need to be busting it. Because it's gonna take him a little while to get it over to first base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he kind of did a lob throw to get that to get that over to get Erickson out. First pitch, ball one.
SPEAKER_09JJ's just been so consistent this year.
SPEAKER_07How's that second pitch off? One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09I mean 369, uh, 24 hits, 22 runs looking trying to find his runs. Um 25 hit.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that hits him right in the middle of the back. JJ Hope will take first base, and that'll bring up Brody Shaner.
SPEAKER_09I anticipate uh JJ to be going here either on the first or second pitch. You know, we want to manufacture him. He's did so much damage to us the other night with two outs, you know, and and with JJ on, you really don't want to waste him here. I mean, you want to get him to second, at least get him in some kind of scoring position here for Shaner.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, give us an opportunity to jump out early. Here's a pitch. Swinging him in strike one. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he got fooled on that one. I think he was looking fast ball, and Clary threw him a nice curve down uh down below his knees there.
SPEAKER_07JJ goes. That's in there for strike two. JJ slides in. We are not behind home plate tonight, so we're gonna be uneducated experts when it comes to the balls and strikes, folks. But that was in there for a strike, so it's no balls, two strikes. JJ Hope on second base.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it looks like he painted the inside corner on that. It was a good throw down by the catcher. That was a bang banger, and uh JJ just underneath.
SPEAKER_07Dylan Knapp on deck. That pitch just low for ball one, one ball, two strikes. JJ's taking a really huge lead out there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I I you know if that's Georgia doesn't come over any more than that. I look for JJ to go.
SPEAKER_07Clary with a long look in. Here's the pitch. Fouled off at the plate.
SPEAKER_09That's that curveball. Clary threw him again, and uh just ahead of it. Gotta sit back on that back leg a little bit.
SPEAKER_07Count remains one ball, two strikes. Clary with a really long look in here. Yeah. Becomes set, delivers to the plate. Outside, ball two, two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's gonna get there. Great, great setup by JJ.
SPEAKER_07JJ with a very delayed steal. He's down on third base. And we had a softball come over from the softball game.
SPEAKER_09I don't think that's gonna be the only one we see, Mike.
SPEAKER_07No, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_09We've seen a turkey and a softball this year come. Two things I don't think I've seen on the room. Here we go.
SPEAKER_07Those are things you don't get to see at home. No. I like this life on the road. Here's the pitch. Oh.
SPEAKER_09He turned on that one.
SPEAKER_07He did turn on that one. Just fouled. Two balls, two strikes. JJ Hope at third base, Dylan Knapp on deck.
SPEAKER_09Threw him that fastball, and he turned on it. I'd look for that curveball coming back as fast, as far ahead as he was on that pitch.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Shaner. That pitch outside and low. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great a bat by Shaner. That's another seven or eight pitches here. I mean, we're gonna get him up there around 20-25 here.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Shaner watches that go by for strike three. That'll retire the side for the Crusaders in the top of the fourth. They get a man on but leave him stranded at third. We'll be back to Lamar's in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Welcome back. I'm Mike Stack, joined by John Tritz. We'll go through the Lamar's batting order here. Leading off for Lamars and pitching, Gavin Clary comes in with a batting average of 395. Batting second, playing second base is Jordan Kaparood, batting average of 281. Batting third and playing shortstop, Drake Peters. He comes into this game with a batting average of 306. Batting fourth and catching, Brett McKinnon, batting average of 281. Batting fifth, playing first base, Ben Reganitter, batting average of 275. Batting sixth and playing center field. Isaiah Tolsen made that great catch in the top of the first to get Tommy Carroll retired. He has a batting average of 211. Batting seventh and playing left field, Jacob Janier with batting average of 133. Batting eighth playing right field. And batting ninth, playing third base, Cooper Pick, batting average of 115.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they don't have a lot of guys that that rip the leather off the ball here, Mike, but the one guy that they do that's hitting off 395 is the leadoff leadoff hitter here, Cleary. I mean, pitches, hits, does everything well.
SPEAKER_07Dillon with the wind up, first pitch to Clary. In there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Boy, that's exactly where you want to put the ball. Low, right at the knees, outside corner.
SPEAKER_07Dylan working quickly here. That's grounded to JJ at short. Gets over, is able to keep in the infield, but not able to make the play. Clarion with the single. That will bring Copper Root up.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that was a great job by JJ just to keep the ball in the infield. I mean, he showed his range there, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Clary's got the speed. He could have easily turned that into a double if it would have gotten out to the outfield. Yeah. So Clary on first, Copper Root steps in. We're in the bottom of the first score 0-0. Here's the first pitch. In there for strike one.
SPEAKER_09Coach Kander was not afraid to play small ball against us the first time, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him lay one down here.
SPEAKER_07Dylan checks runner at first, delivers. That pitch in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Pitch. That's it out to JJ at short. Over Geese at second for the force out.
SPEAKER_09Absolute great play. That was his only play, Mike. He caught that backhanded in the hole and was able to turn and get that to second base.
SPEAKER_07So yeah, that was that was a really tough play. That uh just to get it over to second base was something else because he was still going toward third when he tried to make that throw.
SPEAKER_09And not easy with Cleary on first base. That's some serious speed going to second.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Drake Peters steps in. First pitch to him is outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Now, one thing about Dylan Knapp, and we we both commented on this, he's around the plate, he's solid, and he's a competitor.
SPEAKER_07There's a pitch. That pitch fouled off down the first baseline for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Shout out to his grand and grandpa, Chuck and Mary over here, Hogan, sitting right behind, watching their grandson.
SPEAKER_07So mom and mom and dad knapp are behind us.
SPEAKER_09Mom and dad nap are behind us. Yeah. I think Chuck thought I was calling him over here to talk on the radio.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there, one ball, two strikes. Dylan looks in, delivers. Swing and a miss for strike three. Yeah. Good pitch there by Dylan.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Dylan, Dylan's in the zone tonight.
SPEAKER_07That's out number two. That'll bring uh catcher Brett McInnes to the plate. Yeah, folks, sorry. When when we're out among the crowd, John and I kind of we like to point out who's here and talk to them, and they think that's their signal to come over and jump on the radio.
SPEAKER_08So number five, Brett McGuinness.
SPEAKER_07McInnes steps in from the left side. Copper root on first, reach on the fielder's choice. Here's the first pitch. Pitches popped out to left field.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07That's a fair ball.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Copper root will score from first. McGinnison with the double. Stand-up double.
SPEAKER_09That's one of those fly balls down the left field line we were talking about, Mike, and it just kept going and going and all the way to the roining track.
SPEAKER_07So Reganitter will step in. He's got McGuinness at second base with the RBI double. And Lamars leads this one one to nothing in the bottom of the first.
SPEAKER_09Ben Regonator. He just got it up in the air. Thing just kept going.
SPEAKER_07First pitch by Dillon. Ball hit down the third baseline again. Goes foul.
SPEAKER_09Almost the same thing.
SPEAKER_07No balls, one strike to Regonator. Should he get on, Isaiah Tolson will follow.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, one thing about Knapp here, he's got uh he's got supporters from both sides. I mean, his cousin uh is playing for Lamar's behind us, so he's got relatives rooting for him over here and rooting for his cousin for Lamar's behind us.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch by Dillon.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I like that pitch.
SPEAKER_07High for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09I like that pitch. Got it up there at the fist. Would have been tough for him to come around on.
SPEAKER_07Two outs here in the bottom of the first. Lamar's leads one to nothing. Here's a pitch by Dillon. Inside for ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Dillon's just gonna concentrate on this guy. That's plate.
SPEAKER_07Checks runner at second. Deals.
SPEAKER_09Good pitch.
SPEAKER_07Pitch fouled off down the end of the Lamar's dugout. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I really like that pitch. He came down, came down, little curve ball with a low delivery, and and really had him guessing there a little bit. Like to see more of that one.
SPEAKER_07Two balls, two strikes, two outs. Runner on second base. Lamar's leads one to nothing. Swing and a miss for strike three. That will retire the Bulldogs in the bottom of the first. They score one run. We will be back top of the second. We'll talk to you in one minute. Bulldogs score one run.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Welcome back to Lamar's. We are in the top of the second. Lamar's leads us in one to nothing. Dylan Knapp steps in. He'll be followed by Gaswin and Rodriguez. Softball score we've got for you is Healan is leading one to nothing, heading into the bottom of the second. First pitch to Dylan. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Well, you gotta be you got to come up there aggressive with Cleary. He's gonna give you something to hit. Just like that.
SPEAKER_07And he does. Hits that ball between short and third. Oh, he'll single left fielder, misplays it out there. Wait, Dylan hadn't held to a single.
SPEAKER_09I think he thought it was just gonna be a routine play, and it goes under the center guy's legs, and then when he threw it in, it went under the second baseman's legs.
SPEAKER_07So little little league double opportunity there. Gaswin steps in.
SPEAKER_09Right, heelder.
SPEAKER_07Dylan's on first base with no outs.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great piece of hitting by Dylan. You know, you've got to be aggressive with Cleary. He's gonna give you something good to hit. He's right around the zone.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Outside. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. Rodriguez on deck.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Gaswin's really been making good contact lately, and a lot of it's opposite field, which is really throws people off.
SPEAKER_07That pitch bounces in the dirt. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Dillon's got a chance to help his own cause here. Got some got some wheels on first.
SPEAKER_07Check over first base. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for strike one. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Well the thing about Cleary is you cannot get a good jump on him. He is quick to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Check still in at first, delivers. That pitch is inside to Nathan. Three balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. Pitch is low for ball four. Healing has a little something working here in the top of the second. Knap on second. Gas win on first. Arod steps in. He'll be followed by Moravic.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, one guy that we know that's aggressive at the plate is is Rodriguez. Designated hitter, number four, Alex Rodriguez. We've seen him several times really go after that first pitch.
SPEAKER_07And he showed that he's got some power.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah, no, no doubt. No doubt.
SPEAKER_07He's not a big kid, but he can send it. First pitch to A-Rod. In there for strike one.
SPEAKER_09Well, I tell you what, I mean, he is grooving that first pitch, and I know some people are a little more, you know, take a pitch, take a pitch, take a pitch, but sometimes that best pitch to hit that first one.
SPEAKER_07Delivery of the plate. No balls, two strikes. Moravic do up next. He'll be followed by Beck. Top of the second inning. Lamars leads one to nothing.
SPEAKER_09You know, I know there's something that we don't we don't do a lot of. I wish we would. I mean, we got first and second here. Hate to waste it. You know, I wish I'd like to see maybe a little small ball, but uh, you know, with two strikes here kind of takes the bat out of his hands to do that.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09I did not miss by much. Arod's gotta be a little, he's gotta be protecting that play.
SPEAKER_07Clary with another really long look in. He comes set, checks the runner at second. Here's a pitch. Ball hit out to second base. Or shortstop. Thrown over to second and to first for the double play. Gas went retired at second for the first out, and Rodriguez out at first on the double play.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, hard hit to shortstop. Very hard hit ball. Uh easy double play for the Lamar's Bulldogs. Yeah, and they got him by probably a good four feet over there first. Left fielder, Mason.
SPEAKER_07Moravic will step in with Dylan Knapp on third base. There's two outs here in the bottom of the second. That pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we saw Moravic hit the ball really well against East the other night, so let's see if he can continue that.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. High and outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Clary working quickly now. Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes. That's gonna get out. Pitch popped up foul out of play. Count remains. One ball, two strikes. Just able to get a piece of that and stay alive. He reached out for it just to make contact.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that wind's doing some weird things out there right now, Mike. Now it's kind of going straight out center, almost well, straight out, dead center and to the right, right field, so that ball almost came back in play.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Mason. Gets that out to left center. Tolson on the run again. He lets it drop. He must have lost it. Moravic trucking into second base with the double. Dylan Knapp scores to tie this game up one to one in the top of the second.
SPEAKER_09You know what, Mike? I'm not so sure he lost it as much as I think he thought the left fielder called him off. Left fielder was coming over from left field to center, and he kind of held up right at the last second. And uh, I mean, but again, get the ball up in the air, and it's just gonna go. And that's exactly what it did. Good piece of hitting by Moravic.
SPEAKER_07That'll bring Chase back to the plate. Clary goes back to the stretch with a runner on second. Checks the runner, here's the pitch. In there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09If I'm coach, I'm telling you, look at that first pitch because he's grooving it for a strike every time. Nice curve ball by Clary on that last one.
SPEAKER_07Check of the runner at second, here's the pitch. Just missed for ball one. One ball, one strike. Tommy Carroll do up next. Check of the runner, here's a pitch.
SPEAKER_09There you go.
SPEAKER_07Fouled off. Brings it to count. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09I'd like, I like, I want to see Chase win these battles. He needs a couple. Get him going. And a hit here would just be huge for him.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09There you go. Nice base hit between first and second. That would have been a close hit.
SPEAKER_07Throw home. And Beck is able to go to second base on the throw. So Beck with the single.
SPEAKER_09Ask and you shall receive, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Runners at second and third with two outs. Brings Tommy Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_09That's a huge hit for Beck. And just a beautiful piece of hit and taking that thing to right field.
SPEAKER_07Top of the second, score tied one to one. Healing has an opportunity to punch another couple runs across here. Carroll steps in. He flew out to the center fielder. His first time at bat. Center fielder made a great running diving catch on that play. First pitch to Tommy. That thing's gone. That is home run, Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_09He turned on that. We're talking about first pitch, Mike, and he knew it. And he just absolutely turned on.
SPEAKER_07Well, one of the advantages being along the fence here, John, is they hear his talk a lot. And they've heard you say you gotta be aggressive and go after that first pitch, and he did.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he remembered my SC some smiles. I'm all smiles.
SPEAKER_07That'll make the score four to one, Bishop Healing here in the top of the second, and that'll bring Peyton Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_09That was a no-downer. That's what you call a no-downer, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we don't have all that exit velocity and bat off-to-bat speed and all that, but when he hit it, you knew it was gone. First pitch to Peyton bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09I'm just gonna make an educated guess saying that might not be the only one we see tonight.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there for ball two, two balls, no strikes. I think you're gonna be a very wise man by the end of the night, John. Not that you're not already, but slow roller to second base. Gets over, makes the toss to first for the third out. Healan able to put four runs across on the strength of the three-run home run by Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_08We go to the bottom of the second.
SPEAKER_07Bishop Healan leads four to one.
SPEAKER_08Bulldogs in the bottom of the second will be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your category. We're going to the bottom of the second.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead 4-1. That three-run home run by Tommy Carroll was a one-day late birthday present. Yesterday was his birthday, so happy uh belated birthday to Tommy. Yeah, what a good thing. The Bulldogs will send Tolson, Janeri, and McDougal to the plate here in the bottom of the second.
SPEAKER_09Now, one thing about Tommy, he's got that serious athletic look when he's playing, he's focused, and you know, it's just awesome seeing that big huge smile of his. And he come back when he comes across home plate from ear to ear.
SPEAKER_07Thanks to JV coach Jeff Blander for that information on it being Tommy's birthday yesterday.
SPEAKER_09There we go. Well, if I probably his obviously his first varsity home run, and he'll never forget this field.
SPEAKER_07Leading off center field is he won't forget this trip to Lamar's. First pitch in there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09What Dylan's really got the low strike going. He's he's right at the knees. He's right where he needs to be. And, you know, you don't want to get the ball up today, obviously. We saw what happens when you get the ball up.
SPEAKER_07One ball, one strike. Two balls, one strike. Tolson will be followed by Jenneri.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you don't want to lose him here, Dylan. He's three and one and had a couple uncharacteristic pitches there.
SPEAKER_07Just out of the reach of Chase Beck at third base in the left field. Tolson reaches on the single. That'll bring Jennery up. He'll be followed by McDougall.
SPEAKER_09That's good hard hit by Jennery.
SPEAKER_08Fielder number nine, Jacob Jennery.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead this one four to one. We're in the bottom of the second. First pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, really painted the black on the outside corner on that one.
SPEAKER_07Softball team leads five to nothing, and they're still batting in the top of the third. That hit hard between third and short, just out of the reach of JJ Hope. Lamar's getting a little something going here in the bottom of the second. They've got two runners on. Runners at first and second with no outs. Don McDougall up.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, anything you hit to the left side of the field today is just going to be like a rock. They're number 14. And that was no exception. That thing right in between second and shortstop and third base.
SPEAKER_07Dillon looks in. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, any base. Any base. We got a force out other than home. So infield playing regular, regular depth.
SPEAKER_07Pitch by Dillon. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes to McDougal. He'll be followed by Cooper Pick.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's gotta give him something, something to chase here.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Oh, he almost almost went for it.
SPEAKER_07That pitch was high, and McDougal thought about it. Wisely held off. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09I'd like to see him come down with that low curve ball that he threw in the first inning. Little dipper. There it is.
SPEAKER_07That pitch outside for ball two.
SPEAKER_09Well, I don't mind that pitch. I don't mind that pitch at all. That's that's one of those ones that you can easily get him chasing.
SPEAKER_07Two balls, two strikes, two runners on, no outs. Healan leads four to one in the bottom of the second. Here's the pitch. That hit to Beck at third. Over to Gesey at second, not able to make the relay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nice job by Geese coming around. Just about got him at first. Nice play by Beck to think you know to second base to get the force out. Thought maybe he would just stop and tag him.
SPEAKER_08Cooper Pick.
SPEAKER_07McDougal reaches on the fielder's choice. Runners at first and third for the Bulldogs. One out here in the bottom of the second. Cooper Pick steps in.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I don't think Beck knew he was that close to the runner when he caught the ball.
SPEAKER_07First pitch. Low for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Well, this is when it pays to have a catcher like Peyton Erickson back there. You know, he gets those low balls that are in the dirt.
SPEAKER_07Dillon looks in and delivers. Had pitch in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_09One ball, one strike. And there's the difference between Dillon and Cleary right now is the framing by Erickson on that low pitch. Cleary's not getting that low pitch, and Dylan is.
SPEAKER_07Swing and a miss for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09This is a huge pitch here.
SPEAKER_07There we go. Great job. Kick strikes out looking for out number two. Lamar's runners at first and third, two outs, bottom of the second. They trail four to one, and that brings the top of the order up Gavin Clary, who singled his first time up.
SPEAKER_08Pitcher number two, Gavin Clary.
SPEAKER_09A little bit outside on that first pitch.
SPEAKER_07One ball, no strikes. Dylan delivers. Bad pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Good hitter. This is a this is a tough out. It's a big out.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Outside corner. I'm telling you folks, yeah. The way a catcher frames the ball makes all the difference on getting that six inches past the black.
SPEAKER_07Dylan Deals.
SPEAKER_09Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_07That bounces in there. Two balls, two strikes to Clary.
SPEAKER_09Love that pitch. I love it. You know what? He wanted to chase it.
SPEAKER_07Two on, two out here in the bottom of the second inning. Here's the pitch. There we go. Nice job. Caught looking for strike three. That will retire the Bulldogs. They get two men on, unable to push them across. We go to the top of the third. Crusaders lead four to one. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are back in sunny and windy Lamar. Headed top of the third, Healan will send JJ Hope, Rodie Schader, and Dylan Knapp to the plate. Clary with nobody on.
SPEAKER_09Just got a little pop on the ball.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Just missed for ball one. One ball, two strikes. From here, that was a tough one to take. JJ Hope. Hard hit ball down to third. He'll reach on the single.
SPEAKER_09I mean, you got your leadoff hitter on, well, normally your leadoff hitter, but number three today. But leadoff for this inning, and and obviously got most golden bases, most runs, and it's almost automatic when he gets on.
SPEAKER_08First baseman, Brody Schaehner.
SPEAKER_07Shamer steps in. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Curved ball outside corner. Smart pitch because he's he knows he knows Shaner's a pole hitter and uh and was way ahead of him last time.
SPEAKER_07Healing girls now lead eight to nothing in the bottom of the third. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike. This pitch for JJ, John.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry, Mike.
SPEAKER_07This pitch for JJ?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you got a pitch, you got a hit and run. There he goes. No. Thought he was going.
SPEAKER_07Two balls, one strike. Yeah, he he made a turn like he was gonna go and then stopped. Clary checks over to first base. Throws over, JJ back in plenty of time.
SPEAKER_09Is that count right? Is it two? Do you have two and one?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, two-one.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah, this is a great pitch for hit and run right here. Great pitch. Little.
SPEAKER_07That pitch low and outside for ball three. Three balls, one strike. Billy do up next.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_07He's close enough. I had to get that in, folks. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09He's turning on it.
SPEAKER_07Bounce foul down the third baseline. Count remain. Count goes to three balls, two strikes. JJ Hope at first base.
SPEAKER_09Just a little more patience by Shayner and just a little bit weight, keep that weight back, just a little bit.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Ball thrown down to second base. Gets into center field. JJ's not able to advance. So that's the first out of the inning for the Crusaders. That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. JJ Hope down at second base.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, the main thing is we've got JJ in scoring position here. It's tough to steal off Clary. He gets the ball to home plate so fast. That's just an average throw down to second base, and they almost got him. But that's off. That's the pitcher getting the ball to getting the ball to home extremely quick.
SPEAKER_07That first pitch low for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Dylan's been on a tear lately, even against East. The ones he did hit that got caught. He was he was ripping them. So I'd like to see that continue tonight.
SPEAKER_07JJ with a good lead out there at second base. Here's the pitch to Dylan. That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Great job.
SPEAKER_07JJ again with delayed steal, able to get to third base.
SPEAKER_09Just time that perfect. And that's the thing with JJ, you cannot relax with him. Jammed his finger. Well, thinks he's okay. Maybe he's got the mid on the wrong hand.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Nathan Gaswent do up next. Top of the third, Crusaders lead four to one. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Second out of the inning. Two strikeouts in the inning for Clary. And that will bring Nathan Gaswint to the plate. JJ Hope at third base.
SPEAKER_08Right, fielder, number 25, Nathan Gaswent.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Clary threw that thing on the outside corner, maybe a little bit out, got him chasing on that last pitch.
SPEAKER_07Clary deals. Pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Boy. He just loves to groove that first pitch.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Nathan. Outside. One ball, one strike. A Rod on deck. Here's the pitch. That ball hit sharply. Under the shortstop's glove. That's gonna roll to the fence.
SPEAKER_10That's gonna be a double.
SPEAKER_07Nathan Gaswin rumbles into second base with a double. Hope scores to make it five to one, and that will bring A-rod to the plate. Two outs here in the top of the third inning. Crusaders lead five to one.
SPEAKER_09You know, great job keeping his weight back in the box, Mike, and waiting for that pitch. And he turned on it. You know, it's so easy with a guy like Clary when you bring it like that to be out in front. And he he really did a great job keeping his weight back on that.
SPEAKER_07Clary checks Nathan at second. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Moravic to follow Rodriguez.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's gonna give him some here.
SPEAKER_07He's like, uh, I'd step out, but Clary really slows the process down when he's got a runner on base. That pitch in there for a strike, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Boy, I'd like to see him turn on one here. He's gonna come back with that same pitch.
SPEAKER_07Clary steps off, back on.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Yeah, I'm why uh looking at the cat. He's coming back with that same pitch on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Just missed. Ball two, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there's a difference in your framing right there. I mean that's a strike for for Peyton. Peyton's catching.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Clary. Bounces in there. Three balls, one strike. Moravik do up next. Crusaders lead five to one. We're in the top of the third. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there.
SPEAKER_09Good scoop. Oh, good.
SPEAKER_07Arod draws the walk, puts runners at first and second with two outs. And Moravic steps in.
SPEAKER_09I've seen Mason do exactly what he did against Easton, just drive that ball straight up the middle.
SPEAKER_08Left fielder number nine, Mason Moravik.
SPEAKER_09Does a good job keeping his keeping his chin tucked into it into his right shoulder.
SPEAKER_07Cleary long look in. He comes set. Here's the pitch. That pitch low for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, the one thing that that cleary does really well, like I was telling you, he tucks that that chin right into his shoulder, letting both eyes have a visual straight toward the pitcher.
SPEAKER_07Delivery. That pitch high and outside. Ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Well, that thing really got away from Cleary.
SPEAKER_07One run in for the Crusaders. Runners at first and second with two outs. Top of the third inning, they lead five to one. Here's the pitch. That pitch low. Ball three. Three balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Well, we got a chance to really open the game up here. I'm wondering. Three and oh, you think he guesses he doesn't have the green light, but delivery to the plate.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there for a strike. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Mason's saying, give me that same pitch again. That exact same pitch. He's got to throw a strike.
SPEAKER_07And the pitch. That pitch is low for ball four. That'll load the bases with Crusaders. And that will bring Chase Beck to the plate.
SPEAKER_09See if Chase can do it again. Line drive hit to right field last time in between the second baseman and first baseman.
SPEAKER_07Gonna have a visit to the mound here by Coach Kander.
SPEAKER_09Got a 5-1 ball game here, folks. Crusaders on top. Third inning, and those of you that following the girls, they're up 8-0, and they're in the uh fourth inning. Over there.
SPEAKER_07So at this point, it's a great night to be a crusader.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Hopefully those things will stay that way.
SPEAKER_09Got coaches got guys over there in a little huddle while they're while they're meeting on the mound, and I'm sure it looks like Taylor's talking to him, but I'm sure what they're saying is Cleary's Cleary's around the zone and he's giving you something hitting that first pitch. You know, don't be afraid to be aggressive. And uh a lot of times with your number nine hitter like Beck is a lot of times those guys they kind of forget about these guys and thinking, oh, it's gonna be an easy out, and they might groove him one. This might be a great pitch to jump on.
SPEAKER_07Beck steps in with the bases loaded. There's two outs here in the top of the third. Crusaders lead five to one with the chance to do more damage.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nowhere to go.
SPEAKER_07Here's the first pitch. In there, swinging a miss for strike one.
SPEAKER_09I I love it. I he went after that first pitch and it was right down the middle. Don't mind that at all.
SPEAKER_07Clary looks in, he deals, and pitch low for ball one, one ball, one strike. Carroll do up next. Here's the pitch. Foul fouled off at the plate. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Job by the ump. He called that right away. That was kind of one of those weird ones. You didn't know if it where it hit.
SPEAKER_07They don't get accolades very often, so I'm sure if he could hear you, he'd appreciate that.
SPEAKER_09He's calling a good game. He really is.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Chase. Just missed for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Cleary might say that he isn't. He really wanted that pitch.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's he's kind of got a little smirk on his face. Like, what do I have to do? Put his glove over his mouth and probably said, Well, what do I need to do here? Two balls, two strikes. Base is full of Crusaders. Here's the pitch. That pitch just missed for ball three. That brings the count full. Runners will be going on the pitch with two outs.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that it had to have been outside because that looked pretty good.
SPEAKER_07Wind up in the pitch. Runners go. That pitch foul down the first baseline.
SPEAKER_09That's could be in.
SPEAKER_07And first baseman makes the catch for the third out. Crusaders push one run across in the top of the third. They lead five to one. We'll head to the bottom of the third, and we'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_07We head here to the bottom of the third in Lamars. I'm Mike Stags, joined by John Tritz. Crusaders lead this one 5-1. Lamars will send Copperot, Peters, and McGuinness to the plate. Dylan is at 36 pitches through two innings. Clary is through 78, I believe they said.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Clary Bateman. I'd be surprised if Claire Clary goes more than five tonight.
SPEAKER_07They've got somebody down there in the bullpen warming up already. First pitch by Dylan low. Ball one. One ball, no strikes. Dylan working very quickly now.
SPEAKER_09He really does. He's ready to go as soon as he catches it.
SPEAKER_07Wind up in the pitch. That pitch high for ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09This is Kit that put that ball down the line last time.
SPEAKER_07That pitch inside for ball three. Three balls, one strike. Again, Peters would be up next, followed by McKinnis.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, same pitch. Right up at the hands on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Dillon.
SPEAKER_09Well, maybe not. That thing is tagged.
SPEAKER_07That's over Gaswent's head. Copper root holds up at second with a double.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I don't know if he got that on the outside corner. Inside corner, I can't really tell from here, but it was right in his wheelhouse.
SPEAKER_07It didn't look like it was that well hit when it left the bat, but it carried.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I mean, got it in the gap. And it's just that number four. Drake, Peters. It's gonna be a it's gonna be a circus out in the outfield tonight. No question. You get the ball up in the air, and thing's just gonna fly.
SPEAKER_07That pitch gets away from Erickson way inside, almost hits Peters. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's gotta settle down here. He's got no outs. We don't we don't need to worry about this guy on third base. Just go after the batter. Let's get this first out. You know, you don't need to bring the infield in here. I know we got first baseman stepped in, but.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Pitch misses inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09I'd go back to regular depth, but he's got a second baseman and the first baseman in. I'm not.
SPEAKER_07Pitch by Dylan. That pitch fouled back for strike one. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, this guy in third means nothing. I know it's a run, but I mean he really means nothing. We need to just concentrate on the outs here.
SPEAKER_07Pitch. That pitch fouled off out of play. Two balls, two strikes. McKinnist do up next. No outs here in the bottom of the third. Crusaders lead five to one. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09That ball's gonna carry.
SPEAKER_07And pitch.
SPEAKER_09Good job.
SPEAKER_07Carroll out in center field makes the catch. Kaparood will score from third. That will make the score five to two. We're in the bottom of the third, one out.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great job by Tommy Carroll taking charge. And that's what your center fielder is supposed to do. He you had Moravic coming over from left field. They both had a beat on it.
SPEAKER_08Brett McGuinness.
SPEAKER_09Tommy had the angle to make the catch and possible, throw to home plate. He called him off, and and good job by Moravic getting out of his way.
SPEAKER_07McGuinness steps in from the left side. He doubled his last time up that pitch just outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Wide nice pitch.
SPEAKER_07Outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09He's gotten behind on the last three batters here.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Nice play.
SPEAKER_07That hit to Shaner at first. Takes it unassisted. That was in four the second out.
SPEAKER_09That was an absolute rocket to first base and great play by Shaner. Backhand in that thing. You know, when you're normally at third base, you're used to those hot hits over there down the line, line drive. First baseman, Ben Reaganitter.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely. Reaganitter steps in. Great play by the diving stop at second base. And throw just pulls Schainer off the bag. That was a tough play. I'm gonna give him a single on that one.
SPEAKER_09That was a good play by Geezy. Um just just couldn't get that throw out there and up there on time. Good throw has him.
SPEAKER_07Yep, kept that in the infield.
SPEAKER_09Yep.
SPEAKER_07So Lamars has Reganitter on first base with two outs. Isaiah Tolzin will step in. Isaiah Tolzine. He singled his last time up. He hits that hard out to center field. Carroll settles under it for third out. Lamars pushes one run across here in the third inning. And that makes a score five to two as we head to the top of the fourth. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We are heading to the top of the fourth inning here in Lamarge. Crusaders lead this one 5-2. They will send the top of the order to the plate. It'll be Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_08Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_07Peyton Erickson and JJ Hope. Carroll, one day after his birthday, hits his first home run of the season. That first pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch by Clary. Outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09He's not coming in at all on Tommy. So the first two pitches have been way outside.
SPEAKER_07Clary with the wind up and the deal. That hit sharply out to right at the center fielder for the first out. Carroll's flown out to center field twice and has a home run to his credit tonight. That will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Boy, he is seeing the ball, Mike. That was a rope. Line drive didn't get didn't get any higher than the probably the center field. That's the number 12, Peyton. So he he's really seeing it well.
SPEAKER_07Erickson steps in, he grounded out short to first, and second to first is two times up.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I'd like to see him be aggressive on this first pitch. No. Not when it's in the dirt, but anything close.
SPEAKER_07First pitch, ball one, one ball, no strikes. That pitch in there for strike one, one ball, one strike. Hope do up next. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_07Peyton hits that over the second baseman's head for a single. Erickson will stop it first. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's really good job of inside out hitting, getting those hands up, coming through the plate before the barrel of the bat and taking it to right field. Great job.
SPEAKER_07Hendricks Heaton to pinch run for Peyton.
SPEAKER_09That'll do some wonders for his confidence. Especially with two strikes on him.
SPEAKER_08Courtesy runner, number 21, Hendrix Heaton at the plate. Number five, JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_07JJ hit by pitch his first time up, singled his last time up, scored a run. Squares to bunt, pulls back, strike one.
SPEAKER_09He didn't like it, but uh he would have laid that thing down. I think he had he had third baseman on his heels.
SPEAKER_07No balls one strike. That pitch is low. Gets away from the catcher, throw down Heaton in there safely at second base.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good job by Heaton. The ball got underneath the catcher. I mean, it was literally right on right underneath him. And Heaton got a nice jump and got to second.
SPEAKER_07One ball, one strike, one out here in the top of the fourth. Crusaders lead five to two with a runner at second base and JJ Hope at the plate.
SPEAKER_09Situation baseball right here, Mike. Situation baseball.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Oh.
SPEAKER_07In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Nice pitch by Cleary. Curveball. Come around on the inside. Caught that inside corner.
SPEAKER_07Pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Crusader ladies softball. They lead 12-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we're five five to two here with uh one out, and we got a guy in scoring position. Love to see us add add to that.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball three, brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Heaton out at second base, pinch running for Peyton Erickson. Shanner do up next. We've got one out here.
SPEAKER_09Nice job by the catcher digging that out, preventing Heaton from going to third.
SPEAKER_07Long look in by Clary. Checks the runner at second, and here's the pitch. JJ hangs with that, fouls that one off. Count remains three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's such a disciplined hitter at the plate. He makes you throw a lot of pitches. You know, gets a lot of walks, makes contact.
SPEAKER_07Cleary with the long look. He comes set. Delivers to the plate. That foul down the first baseline.
SPEAKER_09That's coming back in.
SPEAKER_07First baseman. Wind caught it, brought it back into fair territory, but he's able to make the catch at first base for the second out. That will bring Brody Shaner to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great job hustling down. You just don't know today, Mike. That ball gets up in the air. This wind is just wicked.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, initially, first baseman went into foul territory and had to come back into fair territory to make the catch.
SPEAKER_08Brody Shaner.
SPEAKER_09Boy, be nice to see him turn on this first pitch, wouldn't it? If it's if it's where I think he's gonna put it.
SPEAKER_07Shayner struck out looking first time up, struck out swinging a second time up. He is due tonight, folks. Yeah. Here's first pitch. Outside ball one. One ball, no strikes. Heat not at second base.
SPEAKER_09Now let's not waste him. Let's not waste him.
SPEAKER_07Dylan Knapp on deck.
SPEAKER_09Let's do this with two outs.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Oh.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it was a little high, but you know what? That's it. It's right at his uh waist, which is a high school strike basically.
SPEAKER_07That pitch bounces in there for a ball, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Well he's been coming with that curveball a lot more lately. Dipping his elbow and bringing that thing, getting it in the dirt.
SPEAKER_07Clary comes set, delivers to the plate. Pitch fouled off. Two balls, two strikes. Dillanap do up next.
SPEAKER_09Slow roller to Coach Taylor and he biffed it. Right underneath his legs.
SPEAKER_07He's not quite as athletic as the rest of the team. His best years, if he had any, are behind him, John. Just a few.
SPEAKER_09Just a few.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch. That pitch popped up out. He doesn't get a little bit more. That's gonna drop. That's gonna drop, folks.
SPEAKER_09That's exactly. Second baseman gave up on that. And that actually should have been his ball.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it should have been his ball.
SPEAKER_09And uh and I don't know if the left fielder called it right away, but that that's exactly exactly what I'm talking about. You get the ball up in the air and you don't know where it's gonna what it's gonna do. What are they calling here?
SPEAKER_07Brody is able to head down to second on the fake tag, which is a no-no. So he advances to second base on that.
SPEAKER_09I missed that. I missed that.
SPEAKER_07You must have I only know that because I could read the umpire's lips. You can't hear very well, John. You gotta read lips.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead six to two. We're in the top of the fourth inning. First pitch to Dylan is in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Help your cause here.
SPEAKER_07Shanner out at second. Nathan the bull gas went up due next. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Just early on that one. He was looking fast ball and clear. He threw that curve ball and got him guessing.
SPEAKER_07No balls, two strikes to Dylan. Shayner out at second base. Crusaders have pushed one across here in the inning. They lead six to two. Top of the fourth inning. Here we go. Here's the pitch. Dylan caught looking for strike three.
SPEAKER_09He didn't like that.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders push one run across, extend their lead to six to two. We will head to the bottom of the fourth and we'll be back for that in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Back in Lamar's home of Bob's Drive In, Wells Blue Bunny, and Archie's Waystide. Crusaders lead this one 6-2 as we head to the bottom of the fourth.
SPEAKER_09Let's talk about a few more of our underwriters real quick here, Mike. Central Bank to City Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Home, CNOS Dr. Ryan Mead, Consoloak Supply Company, LLC, Culligan, Cybercloak Technology LLC, Dave Peppin Real Estate, LLC, Drilling Morningside Pharmacy, and Dune's Dental for Kids. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_08Leading off for the Bulldogs, left fielder number nine, Jacob Jennery.
SPEAKER_07Bulldogs will send Jennery, McDougal, and Pick to the plate. Jennery singled his last time up, was forced out at second on the fielder's choice.
SPEAKER_09Speaking of uh Bob's hot dogs and Wells ice cream, you got the ice cream, and I've got two uh Bob Dogs sitting here waiting for us in between games, Mike.
SPEAKER_07I ate too much ice cream. I can't eat any dogs. That second pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. But I'm sure that my daughter Mary Kate or son-in-law Jeff would eat it. Jeff just came from JV practice, so I know he hasn't had dinner. Here's that pitch. That pitch fouled. I couldn't tell from here if that was fair or foul when it left the bat.
SPEAKER_09Boy, that thing would just rocket it down that hit that fence on the left field side.
SPEAKER_07One ball, two strikes. I like it when there's not runners on. Dylan worked really fast. That pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good waist pitch on the outside corner. Up high. Tried to get him to chase it. I come back. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Girls' softball game. The first one is over. They run ruled Lamar's 12-0 in the in five. So we'll keep you updated on game number two. Three balls, two strikes to count to Jennery. Swing and a miss for strike three.
SPEAKER_09Gutsy pitch by Dylan. Come back with that curved ball, kept it low, got able to chase it.
SPEAKER_08All right, fielder, number one.
SPEAKER_07That's the fourth strikeout for Dillon tonight. That'll bring McDougal to the plate. He reached on a fielder's choice his first time up.
SPEAKER_09Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_07First pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09You know the thing about Dillon is he does exactly what coach needs him to do. Throw strikes. He's competitive. He keeps it on the outside inside corner. And, you know, he keep he keeps you, you know, in the game. As far as runs, you know, you're you know, if if it if we only had three runs, I mean we're still up three to two, and this is what he wants out of these guys.
SPEAKER_07Counts one ball and two strikes to McDougall. Here's the pitch. Way inside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike three.
SPEAKER_09Came right back with it, kept that thing up right by the numbers, and two strikeouts in the inning for Dillon. The pitch before that, I think he saw McDougal kind of go, and he came back with that same pitch.
SPEAKER_07Pick steps in, he'll be followed by Clary. Should he get on? Here's the first pitch.
SPEAKER_09It's a good pitch.
SPEAKER_07Just missed for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Well, it had to bend inside. That's a good pitch, right? Right up there by the fist.
SPEAKER_07Pitch low ball two, two balls, no strikes. Pitch by Dillon.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_07There's a I didn't mean to put the bat out in the way. Foul ball. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, come back with that curveball outside corner.
SPEAKER_07Oh that pitch in there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09There's the difference. Boy to Peyton frame that thing.
SPEAKER_07And the pitch. Low and outside. Ball two. Ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Crusaders lead six to two. We're in the bottom of the fourth.
SPEAKER_09This is a big pitch. Make a short ending.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Okay.
SPEAKER_07Hit out the short. JJ. Not able to field it cleanly.
SPEAKER_09That would have been a tough play. That would have been a tough play. A slow, slow roller. Um, just bounced over the pitcher's head.
SPEAKER_07Pick reaches on he's on first, and that will bring Clary to the plate. Singled his first time up and struck out looking his last time up.
SPEAKER_09You know, Mike, I gotta give him a hit on that. I that would have been a tough play to get him at first base.
SPEAKER_07I know I know normally he makes that, but outside, ball two, two balls, no strikes. Yeah, I checks the runner at first and deals to the plate. Just outside, three balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he's throwing a lot more pitches.
SPEAKER_07Copper do up next. Copper reached on a fielder's choice and doubled his last time up, scored a run. Scored both runs for Lamars. Here's the pitch. That pitch is outside. Four pitch walk.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Peyton needs to go out and talk to him right here. Tell us to take a deep breath. Oh, here comes Wesselman. Yeah, he's Coach Wesselman was thinking the same thing I was. This is a good time to go out and talk to him, tell him to take a deep breath. Regain your focus. Go after the battery.
SPEAKER_07Bulldogs have runners at first and second with two outs. And Copper Rood will step in.
SPEAKER_09I can uh call off a few more of our sponsors here, Mike. Uh um, dude's dental for kids. FM Wealth Management, Matt Lawler, Folk Brothers, Greenville Pharmacy, Greg and Krista Yoakum, Gretkin Family, ICare, and Heideman Law Firm. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healin Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, folks, if you want to get involved with uh sponsoring Catholic Radio and Bishop Healin Athletics, just give the folks a call at the station and they will work with you to find something that fits your budget. Copper steps in, first pitch.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07In there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09That's exactly what Coach did. He went out and said, hey, just focus on the batter. Just play catch with Peyton here. Get back to your fundamentals.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. That hit out to Geeesey at second base. Fields it.
SPEAKER_09Nice play.
SPEAKER_07Throws over to Schayner at first for the third out. That will retire the Bulldogs. They had two runners on and stranded them. We will go to the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fourth. Crusaders lead this one six to two. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We come back to Lamar's. We're in the top of the fifth inning. We have a new pitcher for the Bulldogs. It is Jacob Jennery. He's got a record of 0-1. Teams are hitting 4.17 against him. He's given up 20 hits, 18 runs. 11 of those have been earned. Given up six walks, hit one batter, and struck out six. And he has an ERA of 7.70. Crusaders will send Gatswith, A Rod, and Moravic to the plate here in the top of the fifth.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I know we're gonna sound like a broken record, Mike, but uh said the same thing about Clary the last time he pitched. Throws well. He's a good pitch. Number nine. And that's a solid six rod that we got off tonight.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's made one mistake, and that was Tommy Carroll. Otherwise, this is a 3-2 game.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely.
SPEAKER_07Potentially a 3-2 game. Tommy could have got it, you know, base hit and driven to run in, but it potentially a 3-2 game if not for that home run.
SPEAKER_09No, so and and and same outcome for him when they played at Heatland. Threw well and then kind of threw a lot of pitches, and uh we jumped on him a little bit, and I think Jenneri came in for him down there too.
SPEAKER_07First pitch to Nathan inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. We will have a special guest between games for a between game interview.
SPEAKER_09You're not gonna, it's not gonna be me interviewing you and you interviewing me.
SPEAKER_07That's there's nothing special about that other than I thought we were gonna have to kill. Neither one of us know what we're talking about. One ball, one strike. I think if you and I interviewed each other, that would kill a lot of people. Here's the one ball, two strikes to Nathan. A Rod, do up next. Maybe we should ask A-rod if he wants to be called A Rod. Maybe he wants to maybe he wants to come up with his own nickname. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09He just missed it. That's gonna be trouble. That's gonna be trouble.
SPEAKER_07It's gonna that's fair. That's fair ball. Gaswent. I never thought he started towards second. I was just about to say, I never thought I would say Nathan Gaswent's gonna get two doubles in one game. And he started down there, the left fielder got the ball to the second baseman. Fortunately, it popped out of his glove, and Nathan was able to safely get back to first. Designated hitter number four.
SPEAKER_09If I'm not mistaken, didn't he have that kind of a weird that weird hit the first time up the bat? That thing was, I mean, that thing was just just just dropped. I mean, it stayed up there and curled back in.
SPEAKER_07Get on any way you can. Alex Rodriguez steps in, throw over to try to catch Gaswent napping, and it doesn't work. Moravic do up next. He'll be followed by Chase Beck. Rodriguez walked his last time up. There he goes.
SPEAKER_09You know, I wonder if he saw me because he looked over here and I and I I put my my finger up like first pitch. I said, look for those first pitch. And he was kind of looking at me, and I think I'm gonna take credit for it. You take credit for it, John.
SPEAKER_07Don't don't get us in trouble with the coaches, though.
SPEAKER_09Be aggressive. Left fielder, Mason Moravic.
SPEAKER_07Moravic steps in. He doubled his first time up, scored a run, and walked his second time up. Crusaders lead this one 6-2. We're in the top of the fifth. Two men on, no outs. Chase Beck patiently waiting his turn in the on-deck circle. Here's the pitch. Yeah, nice. First pitch to Mason in there for a strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's a nice pitch by Jenneri throwing that nice little curveball in the outside corner. Backdoor. Backdoor came in.
SPEAKER_07No balls, one strike. Jennery long look in, comes set. Checks gas win at second, and here's the pitch. Mason squares around but doesn't offer. Call to strike anyway. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09You know, this guy's called a really good game. That's the first pitch I really disagree with. That thing was almost in the dirt, but called strike. Now you got to protect the plate.
SPEAKER_07Jenner really worried about Gas went out there. Swing and a miss by Moravic for the first out.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nice cut by Moravic.
SPEAKER_07That will bring Beck to the plate. He will be followed by Tommy Carroll. Crusaders have runners at first and second with a 6-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_09Chase got that rope single in the first, or uh his first at bat. Like to see him do that again. Drive in a run.
SPEAKER_07Like to thank Grace Tot back in the studio for keeping everything running smoothly. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Not a bad idea.
SPEAKER_07Chase squares around a bunt, fouls that off for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Not a bad idea. I like that.
SPEAKER_07Really appreciate the work of Grace Tott and Jack Stevens back in the studio whenever we're out doing these baseball games.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they're so awesome. They really are. You know, when Jack's not back there, he's taking pictures at the Healing events.
SPEAKER_07He never takes pictures of you and me, Jess.
SPEAKER_09No, there's reason for that, Mike.
SPEAKER_07There's bitch. Bunts it foul down the first baseline. No balls, two strikes. Yeah, I know. Faces for radio, all that stuff.
SPEAKER_09I know.
SPEAKER_07Games like this are so much more fun than Tuesday night's games.
SPEAKER_09Oh man.
SPEAKER_07Jennery with the long look in.
SPEAKER_09Step out. That's way too long. Step out. Step out.
SPEAKER_07He comes set. Checks Gaswin at second.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_07Good pitch popped up on the infield.
SPEAKER_09You never know.
SPEAKER_07Infield fly rule.
SPEAKER_09Never know. He dropped it.
SPEAKER_07Gas went. Both runners able to advance. I believe that the umpire motion for the infield fly rule on that one.
SPEAKER_09Did he call it? Yeah, he did it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he did call it.
SPEAKER_09Even though that thing got all the way out to the outfield. But I'm telling you folks, a there's no such thing as a routine fly ball today with this wind. And that's a perfect example. Center fielder number eight, Tommy. Routine fly ball in the infield, and it just kind of gradually worked its way, you know, and got into the uh probably about five yards into the outfield.
SPEAKER_07Tommy King Kong Carroll steps into the plate with runners at second and third and two outs. Here's the first pitch. That's in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Tommy's really seeing the ball well tonight. I mean, he's one for three, but both his uh outs were flyouts that were just roped.
SPEAKER_07Flown out to center field twice and had the three-run home run, which is really the big difference in this game. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he knew it. That'd have been a good pitch to really turn on there.
SPEAKER_07Jennery throwing from the full wind up. Comes set and deals to the plate. That pitch way high for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good waist pitch. Legendary. I think he wanted to get that thing up around his shoulders. Got a little higher than that, but not a bad waist pitch.
SPEAKER_07Peyton Erickson do up next. Wind up in the pitch. Bounced in there for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09It's a good job by Tommy keeping his hands back on that curveball. Got him guessing, and a lot of times, you know, you you get that half swing, and Tommy did a really good job staying strong, keeping the hands back.
SPEAKER_07Here's the windup and the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Boys.
SPEAKER_07That woke up JJ Hope down in the Bishop Healing dugout. Count remains two balls, two strikes, two outs, two runners on. Crusaders lead six to two. We're in the top of the fifth.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, keep that weight back just a little. He really turned on that last one.
SPEAKER_07Wind up in the pitch. Bounces in there for ball three. Brings the count full. First base is open.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good at bat by Tommy here. Really good at bat. Very disciplined.
SPEAKER_07Snari comes set and deals to the plate. There we go. Bounces in there for ball four. That'll load the bases.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great at bat by Tommy Carroll there.
SPEAKER_07Brings Peyton Erickson to the plate. Bases loaded two outs here in the top of the fifth. Crusaders already lead six to two, looking to make it more.
SPEAKER_08Now batting.
SPEAKER_09Number 12, Peyton. Nice hit by Erickson as last at bat. I can see him do that again here and put this game a little bit more out of reach.
SPEAKER_07In there for strike one. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_09Nice curveball. On the inside corner, caught the black.
SPEAKER_07There he comes set and deals.
SPEAKER_09Well, you don't know. Get over there.
SPEAKER_07Don't watch it. It drops. One run will score. Two runs will score. Carroll all the way to third.
SPEAKER_09That right there is why you run everything out.
SPEAKER_07Erickson with the you can't call it a bloop single. You can't call it anything other than a win. Let's call it a win-aided single.
SPEAKER_09A wind aided. You know, he's he's really having a tough time over there. And I'm I'm I'm probably being nice, but he's having a tough time at second. Just that ball just moves, and it's Crusaders lead this one eight to two.
SPEAKER_07We're in the top of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_09Man, he got a jump and a half.
SPEAKER_07Heaton pinch running for Erickson. Took off before the pitch was ever delivered. He's down at second base. So two runners in scoring position for JJ Hope. Shayner, do up next.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. He's going from the wind up here. And uh I think and I think that's why he took off.
SPEAKER_07Third baseman's back far enough too. He could bunt and JJ with the chance to continue to blow this thing open here in the top of the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you got two runs just sitting out there, and he's due for one of those patented gap singles of his.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Boy.
SPEAKER_07That's it. Different shortstop. That's Clary over at shortstop now. Still very close play. Hope rounds out six to three. Crusaders push two runs across in the top of the fifth inning. They lead this one eight to two.
SPEAKER_08In the top of the fifth. We'll head to the bottom of the fifth.
SPEAKER_07And we'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_09Welcome back here to Lamar's Crusaders lead 9-2. We're going into the leading off for the Bulldogs at the bottom of the fifth. We got Peters coming up the bat. Mike stepped away here just a little bit. Boy, Peters turned on that first pitch inside fastball. Just missed it. Fouled on the left field line. Boy, good pitch. Didn't miss by much as one-on-one count to Peters. Beautiful. Outside corner. Knapp throws fastball on the outside corner. One and two. No outs. Nine to two Crusaders lead here in the fifth. Ball hit up. And we saw what happened here. Good job by Dylan fielding his position. One out.
unknownGood job. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Scoreboard guys got it wrong. It's actually eight to two. He had it five to two in between innings. Excuse me. He said we scored two runs and now it's nine to two.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Now John's going to be distracted by a guest from Lamar's. So this young lady that's just I'll take back over.
SPEAKER_09The young lady just came over here as the aunt of our head coach. That ball is hit driven. That's gonna be that's gonna be trouble.
SPEAKER_07Over his head. McKinnison with the double.
SPEAKER_09We got Julie Wessling joining us. She works up here in the Lamar School District. Uh her maiden named Julie Wesselman, um uh Coach Wesselman's aunt, and uh it's good to see her. Huh? Yeah, she's so now batting first. She was uh also a uh classmate, uh little a year, year younger than me at Briarcliffe or two years, two years younger than me.
SPEAKER_07She's aged a lot better than you, John.
SPEAKER_09First pitch. Definitely aged.
SPEAKER_07That's it out to left field. Moravic fields it on one hop.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he was a little gun shy after that last one. Um played a little deep. That would have been a tough play that he made that last one. He just missed it.
SPEAKER_07Bulldogs have a little something going here in the bottom of the fifth. Runners at first and third, no outs, and Tolson will step in. Yeah, I spend uh two weeks out of the year with Julie down at NAA volleyball and basketball. So uh she gets tired of me after about two and a half, three hours. Here's the first pitch. It's hit out to hope it's short. Over to Geezy at second. Relay to first, pulls Shaner off the bag. McGuinness is able to score, brings a score to eight to three. Reganitter retired at second on the fielder's choice.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's two outs, I think. Mike I Peters got an out on Peters on the first one. Pitcher, number one. That's right, two outs. Jennery.
SPEAKER_07I need to pay better attention. Pitcher Jacob Jennery is up. Look at you, you got a visitor, and you're more focused than I am. That's pretty good, John.
SPEAKER_09Well, I haven't seen Julie in a little while. Used to see Julie quite a bit when uh the kids were playing CYO, uh, a lot of CYO stuff, and we would see each other at those events.
SPEAKER_07Dylan Knapp still on the mound for the Crusaders. That pitch. Moravic able to make the catch to retire the side. That will do it in the bottom of the fifth for the Bulldogs. We will head to the top of the sixth. Crusaders lead eight to three. We'll be back in one minute.
SPEAKER_09I'll talk to you in between.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We head to the top of the six here in Lamar's Crusaders lead this one eight to three. They will send Chainer, Knapp, and Gaswind to the plate. And in game number two, the Crusader ladies are leading one to nothing in the top of the first.
SPEAKER_09You know, I'm gonna ask somebody to go over to the official scorebook because you know when they had it five to two, they kept saying six to two um on the announcer. And we scored we scored two or three in that last inning. Scored two in the last inning.
SPEAKER_07It's actually eight to three. Yeah. And he c he's he keeps saying it's eight to three, but he hasn't changed it to eight out on the scoreboard.
SPEAKER_09So then when he got when it was six to Two that they had a five on there, so I don't I don't know what's going on with that board. But hey, we know what the score is, and it's eight or three, and and uh the good guys are on top right now.
SPEAKER_07First pitch to Brody in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes. He'll be followed by Dylan Knapp. In there for a strike, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, he just not has not been able to just like connect like he normally does. I'd like to see him take one of those fastballs.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch by Jenneri.
SPEAKER_09There, like that.
SPEAKER_07That bounces off the fence. Schainer into second with the double. Just didn't get it up in the wind far enough, and that will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Now it's a great job keeping his weight back. Uh Janey threw a high curve ball. It broke high, and he kept his weight back, and he just roped that thing. And folks, I mean a rope right over the left fielder's head, one bouncer to the fence.
SPEAKER_08Now batting a pitcher, number 22, Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_07Nathan the Bull, gas win due up next.
SPEAKER_09Like to see Dylan help his cause here.
SPEAKER_07It'd be nice to get a couple of insurance runs, even though it is eight to three.
SPEAKER_09With this win, you don't know.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Dylan squares if he's gonna bunt. Throw down to second. Shayner able to get back in time.
SPEAKER_09That's catcher's not afraid to throw. He's got a and he's got a good arm.
SPEAKER_07He does have a good arm.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you don't know with the win, Mike. I mean, we saw what they did three ropes last inning.
SPEAKER_07Jennery looks in, looks back, deals to the plate. Dylan squares to bunt, offers, it's one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09He thought about it. Wouldn't have been a bad deal there. I mean, with his wheels. To see him start just making some good contact here, going in to finish out this game, going into the next game.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Blowing outside ball too. Two balls, one strike. Cas win due up next. He'll be followed by Rodriguez. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09That's gonna come back in play. It's really coming back in play.
SPEAKER_07Wynn got a hold of that one and prevented the catcher from being able to make the catch. Makes the count two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09You know, one thing you got to do on something like that though, you can't take for granted that that thing's gonna be foul. You gotta head down to first. I mean, that thing almost came back into fair play.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead eight to three. We're in the top of the sixth inning. Runner at second base, no outs. Dylan Knapp at the plate.
SPEAKER_09He's got a huge lead over there at second. Huge lead.
SPEAKER_07Check of the runner.
SPEAKER_09Here's the pitch. Out.
SPEAKER_07Schainer thrown out at third base for the first out of the inning. And the count on Dylan Knapp is now full. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great throw by the catcher and good play by the third baseman. He had a nice jump.
SPEAKER_07Nobody on now. One out. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09There's that rope. There's that gapper.
SPEAKER_07Dylan ropes that out between right and center.
SPEAKER_09Dylan's on his horse.
SPEAKER_07He's got to keep he's going for three.
SPEAKER_09There you go.
SPEAKER_07And he's in there with the stand-up triple.
SPEAKER_09That's a good job. Just what I was saying. I should love to see him get back, hitting those ropes in between the gaps. Go into that second game. And there he goes.
SPEAKER_07Gaswin steps in. Makes me wish that we hadn't tried to steal third on that. We'd have a nine to three lead.
SPEAKER_09You know, the one thing Dylan Dylan does really well is he keep he keeps his hands back, Mike. He keeps them back here. And then so on that pitch, he's he's driving those hands in first and the barrel's following, and he gets so many gap hits because of that.
SPEAKER_07Jonas end a pinch run for Dillon at third base. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Oh, he didn't say he went. It's not really uh I mean that's one of those ones as a home plate up. You really can't ask the guy out on the field when he's at that position. It's a tough one for him to call. Oh, he's going for a swing and a miss by Nathan.
SPEAKER_07One ball, one strike. Yeah, he had uh Lamar's high school tattooed all over that one.
SPEAKER_09That was a that was a uh dig in deep swing.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch to Nathan in there low. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, Nathan's been making good contact.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Bounces in there. Three balls, one strike. Alex Rodriguez do up next.
SPEAKER_09Good job by the catcher keeping that in front, that preventing the run.
SPEAKER_07Jennery comes set and he deals. Oh Gas went caught looking for out number two.
SPEAKER_09Full count.
SPEAKER_07Oh, full count. I had full count already. The umpire even started to ring him up. Here's the pitch. Swinging a miss.
SPEAKER_09Now that's strike three. I want to start uh thinking maybe you have your Jethro Bodine uh multiplication, your good gazintos, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Well, I did attend public schools down in Texas, so that probably explains a lot.
SPEAKER_09Number four, Alex Rodriguez. Alex had nice rip the last time, jumped on that uh on that first fastball cross plate.
SPEAKER_07Rodriguez steps in. Here's the first pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Moravic do up next.
SPEAKER_09I'm guessing he's gonna get nothing but curveballs. That's my guess.
SPEAKER_07Well, hang one out there and let him put it over the fence.
SPEAKER_09Another curved ball.
SPEAKER_07Pitch fouled off. No balls, two strikes. Crusader Lady Softball leads two to nothing in the bottom of the second. Jenry comes set and deals to the plate. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Good eye by Rodriguez, because I mean, from our angle, it looked like a like it could have been a strike, but that had to be inside outside.
SPEAKER_07Here's a pitch. Pitch looped out to shortstop. Clary's not going to drop that. Pop out to the shortstop for the third out. That'll strand Jonas at third. We will head to the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead eight to three. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Bottom of the six, Darren Lamar's Crusaders lead 8-3. The Bulldogs will send McDougal, Pick, and Clary to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Thank you so much for being supporters of Bishop Keelan Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_08Leading off for the Bulldogs. Number 14, Dominic McDougal.
SPEAKER_07McDougal will step in. Dylan Knapp still on the mound for the Crusaders. We're in the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead eight to three. First pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes, McDougal. He'll be followed by Pick.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, fastball, fastball. Right up there by his right right up there by his wrist.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night, folks. Strikeout to start off the inning. That's out number one. That will bring Pick to the plate. He'll be followed by Clary.
SPEAKER_09It's a beautiful piece of pitching right there by Dylan and a great job by Peyton calling the pitch. Right up there by the wrist. He wasn't even close on that first one, and Dylan saw it and just came back with two back-to-back. Same spot.
SPEAKER_07Seventh strike out of the night for Dylan. First pitch to pick is ball one. One ball, no strikes. That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Crusaders lead eight to three. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SPEAKER_09Have you ever seen anybody work as fast as Dillon?
SPEAKER_07I'm loving it.
SPEAKER_09I know.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_07Ground ball to JJ. Bounces it over to first base. Pick reaches. Bulldogs have a runner at first with one out, and that will bring Clary to the plate.
SPEAKER_09That took a weird bounce. Kind of caught JJ. That ball kind of got up on the short stuff. On the heel of his glove. And he bobbled it and had to rush that throw.
SPEAKER_07Pitch to Clary. Fouled off for strike one. No balls, one strike. Yeah, all that means is with somebody on base, Dylan slows down.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Boy, he's he's ready to go.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Way outside. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, great job by Peyton catching up with that thing. That thing was way out.
SPEAKER_07Dylan comes set and delivers. The ball hit to JJ at short. Over to Geese at second. Not in time.
SPEAKER_09Great play by JJ coming up on that ball, getting it over to Gesey. Gesey does a great job at second base, corraling it. But that uh the speed of uh was that cleary? Yep. Yeah, the speed of cleary is I mean he was past first. That was a good turn, actually.
SPEAKER_07That brings Kaparoo to the plate. The other thing we have to remember is this is Geecey's first time in uh playing second base this year. He's I mean he's only been back for just a few games with soccer ending.
SPEAKER_09Yep. I just talked to uh just talked to his grandpa, just came over here and uh coach you know Jim Wharton, and he said that he played JV yesterday, he's up here for a double header, so that's good. Get it get him some reps. Well, they're saying that ball hit him, Mike.
SPEAKER_07Hit by pitch. Copper will head down to first, Clary will advance over to second, and that will bring Peters to the plate with two outs here in the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead eight to three.
SPEAKER_09Wide that was kind of a weird one. Kind of hit the dirt before it hit him.
SPEAKER_07Knapp delivers. Just high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09That's a good pitch. I like that pitch. That's a high school strike. That'd have been outside. To see him finish here. We get no more damage.
SPEAKER_07That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike. McGuinness would be due up next. Should Peters extend the inning.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good job by Dylan. Coming right back basically with the same pitch. Maybe a little bit lower and uh getting the strike there on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_07Matt delivers. Outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Peyton wanted that one. Two outs, two runners on. Crusaders lead eight to three. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dylan steps off. Gets the sign that he wants, comes set, deals to the plate, bounces that ball in there. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Let's finish this guy off. Take a deep breath. Get yourself composed here. Let's play catch.
SPEAKER_07Dylan Deals. Oh, just high for ball four. That will load the bases with Bulldogs. Trying to get a little something going here in the bottom of the sixth inning. They currently trail eight to three.
SPEAKER_09Waddle Dad did not miss by much, let me tell you.
SPEAKER_07McKinnist will step in. He's got two doubles tonight and grounded out unassisted to the first baseman. He scored one of the three bulldog runs.
SPEAKER_09You know, with this wind, I mean, like I said, Mike, uh you got the bases loaded here. You get the ball up in the air. I mean, we could have one run game here real quick, especially the way this he's hit the ball well today. Is this McGuinness or McDougal? This is this is uh McGinnis. Yeah, this is McGuinness. Yeah, he's hit it real well. He's gonna put the ball down left field line and got it out there to the gap.
SPEAKER_07Dylan from the full wind up, long look in. Here's the pitch. First pitch in there for strike one. No balls one strike.
SPEAKER_09Boy, that's that same pitch that uh I think he just walked the last batter on. Got that strike.
SPEAKER_07Map delivers to the plate. Oh, gets away from Erickson.
SPEAKER_09He got him at home.
SPEAKER_07Here you got oh, late.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_07All the way to the backstop, and the Clary wasn't paying attention.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_07Or he would have scored on that play.
SPEAKER_09I didn't. Yeah, that ball definitely, I mean, got got got all the way back to the backstop, and Clary was still standing basically on third, and then he decided to come home.
SPEAKER_07And it didn't get to the backstop quickly. It's it was a slow roller back there. Here's the pitch by Dillon.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there we go.
SPEAKER_07Strike two, one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09That's that pitch that he comes down low with his right elbow. Kind of kind of really kind of freaks you out a little bit because it's a little bit different uh angle.
SPEAKER_07Base is full of Bulldogs. Crusaders lead eight to three, two outs here in the bottom of the sixth inning. McKinnis at the plate count as one and two.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, come with that curve ball.
SPEAKER_07Wind up here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09There we go.
SPEAKER_07Hit out to Geese at second base. He feels it. Throws it over to Schainer at first for the third out. That will retire the Bulldogs. They load the bases, unable to push anything across. We will head to the top of the seventh. Crusaders lead eight to three. We'll be back in one minute.
SPEAKER_08Leaving the bases loaded.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07We're in the top of the seventh here in Lamar's Crusaders lead 8-3. Jennery back out on the mound for the Bulldogs. He's finishing his warm-up. Looks like we're gonna have a couple pitch hitters here in the seventh inning for the Crusaders. Once I know the order they're going in, I'll let you know. But it would be Moravik Beck and Carroll. But Jonas Jensen is out there. This is gonna be the first chance we've had to see him bat, John.
SPEAKER_09It is, you know, we got a chance to see him pitch the other night, came in, did a nice job. I mean, he ended up uh giving up some runs, but I mean he came in, he battled, he threw strikes. I mean, we you you and I both kind of liked what we saw, and you know, and we talked about the story, obviously. Um it'd be really cool to see him get up here and get a hit.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, for first time in the batter's box at the varsity level, as far as we know.
SPEAKER_08It doesn't look like he has any number three, Ryden Frelick.
SPEAKER_07No official at bats.
SPEAKER_09Well, they announced him as Raiden Frelick, but we know who it is. It's Jonas.
SPEAKER_07Wind up and the pitch. Outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for a strike, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09I've seen him a couple times here. Nice stance in there. Gives us another left hander, which I really like.
SPEAKER_07Here's the wind up deal to the plate, bounces in there for ball two, two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Nice high. You know how important was that last out, Mike? I mean, I'm telling you, the base is loaded. And with uh a guy that can that could easily tie or bring that to a one-run game.
SPEAKER_07And pitch to Jonas high for ball three. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09And even uh you know, you know, Cleary, not seeing that ball go through, saving a run.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two, three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Good cut by Jonas, man, and just missed that. Nice low fastball by Jenneri.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead eight to three. We're in the top of the seventh inning. That pitch low for ball four.
SPEAKER_09Nice job. Good hit.
SPEAKER_07Jonas draws the walk. That will bring Aiden LaFavre to the plate. He'll be followed by Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_09How important get that lead off runner in 18. Aiden Lefaver. Gives us so many options. I'd like to see us get, you know, one more insurance runner would be really nice with this wind. I mean, you can't have enough, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER_07Check with the runner at first. Here's the pitch. Yeah. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09That's a a high strike, but but he's a tall kid, so I mean a normal guy, that's up by the waist, and that's down by his belt.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Swinging him out of strike two. No balls, two strikes. Carroll do up next. Deals to the plate. Good cut. Fouled off. Count remains, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, good cut by eight.
SPEAKER_07Jonas down at first base with no outs. Tommy Carroll do up next. Crusaders lead eight to three. We are in the top of the seventh inning. Check of the runner at first. And here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09There we go. That's trouble. Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_07Diving catch by the left fielder. For out number one. That will bring Carroll to the plate. He didn't even he didn't even follow through on that swing and hit it way out there.
SPEAKER_09He hit that thing out there, and I think the left fielder kind of froze. I think he thought it was coming right to him. He kind of had a late jump on it and then had to make a diving catch, but great catch. Either way, it just great catch. Yeah. Yeah, he's kind of hurting out there. I think he lost his breath.
SPEAKER_07Carroll steps in with one out, one on. Crowns that down to third. Throw to second, gets Jonas in time for the second out. Carroll safe at first on the fielder's choice. That will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_09Tommy's going to show one for four with three RBIs tonight, and he has just tagged every one of those at bats. He's hit it hard. He's seeing the ball well.
SPEAKER_07Even that hit down the down to the third baseman was hard hit ball. Yeah. Good play by the third baseman to get that and throw over to second for the second out.
SPEAKER_08Catcher number 12. Peyton.
SPEAKER_07Two outs here. Erickson steps in. Carroll at first. Eight to three lead for the Crusaders. First pitch in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch to Peyton. He pops it up, and we know that's that's been a fun adventure every the whole time tonight. Another softball comes in. And that pitch, that foul ball landed harmlessly.
SPEAKER_09That's a base hit. It's a single.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow.
SPEAKER_09That thing, I'm telling you, that thing curved back in and he missed he he misplayed it and it went over his head. No. What do they yeah, yeah. They gave him a single.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Hendrix Heaton and the base to pinch run for or courtesy run, I guess is what they call it in high school.
SPEAKER_09He didn't touch his glove. That's gonna go in as a base hit. And in the books, like I always say, that's a frozen rope single.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you can tell the grandkids, man, I ripped that single. JJ Hope steps in, runners at first and second with two outs. Crusaders lead eight to three. First pitch outside ball one. Brody Shaner do up next. Check of the runner at second. Deals to the plate. There's a rib. JJ reaches out, gets that out to the left fielder. All runners are gonna be held up. That will bring Shayner to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Crusaders lead eight to three with a chance to score a few more here.
SPEAKER_09I know what you're thinking.
SPEAKER_07No, I'm not. I'm not.
SPEAKER_09Same thing I'm always thinking. Does anybody come up to the bat to the plate more than Shaner does with bases loaded?
SPEAKER_07I think Nathan's probably pretty close to tied with him.
SPEAKER_09It's tied to I mean but it does happen a lot.
SPEAKER_07Let's see if he can get a hold of one here. Long look in by Jennery. Here's the first pitch.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Oh, he won't.
SPEAKER_07In there low gets away from the catcher, but not far enough for Carroll to advance.
SPEAKER_09You know, the way the sun is right now, you know, it's hard for these guys on third base, and I think that's what happened to Cleary, too. Because Tommy didn't get a very good jump either. And I think it's hard to see the ball go get loose when it goes underneath the catcher.
SPEAKER_07January comes Seth. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two, two balls, no strikes. In game number two for the Lady Crusaders softball, they lead Lamar's three to two in the bottom of the second. Long look in, he comes set and delivers. One strike.
SPEAKER_09Man, I'm licking my chops to have that pitch back. I'm sure he's saying the same thing. Give me the same thing. Love to see him turn on one. Just like he did his last at bat. Rope that ball over the left fielder's head.
SPEAKER_07Delivery to the plate. Inside.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, there's no room for him.
SPEAKER_07Three balls, one strike. Base is full of crusaders.
SPEAKER_09There is absolutely no room for him.
SPEAKER_07You definitely gotta think he's gonna get something to hit here.
SPEAKER_09Oh man, I just, you know. Something in his wheelhouse he could.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch. Bounces that down to the third baseman, feels it, steps on third for the third out.
SPEAKER_09I just missed it. Just missed it.
SPEAKER_07That's out number three. We'll head to the bottom of the seventh. Crusaders lead eight to three. We'll be back in one minute. In the top.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Back here in Lamar's, I'm Mike Skagg, joined by John Tritz. We're headed to the bottom of the seventh. Crusaders have a new pitcher. Jackson Vickery is in. He's got a record of 1-1. Teams are batting 231 against him. He's given up six hits, ten runs, eight of those have been earned. He's walked seven, hit two batters, struck out five, and has an ERA of 7.64.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, what we need to get after the dude is come in and you know and and just throw straight. Do what he does best. He's a competitor. He he throws a lot like Dylan, actually. Um stain velocity. And uh get through this seventh inning. Let's talk about a few more of our sponsors here, Mike, uh real quick while we have time. Modern day Parish, McClintock Insurance, Meyer Brothers Funeral Home, Mills, Shovel Hammer, and Pitts, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Mollett Industrial Group, My Jeweler, and Myra Favor's State Farm Agency. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Heeland Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_07Lamars will send Reagan itter, Tolson, and Jennery to the plate here in the bottom of the seventh. They're down to their last three outs. Crusaders lead eight to three.
SPEAKER_09Boy, that sun is just right at the third baseman and left fielder's eye. That's gonna be a tough play over there. Anything hit.
SPEAKER_07First pitch in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09I was gonna say, I don't know if Peyton knew that the ball is like literally a it bounced like two feet from him there.
SPEAKER_07Thickery comes set, starts the wind up. Here's the pitch. That ball hit out to center field for a single. Reaganitter on first base with no outs. That will bring Tolles into the plate. He singled his first time up and flew out to the center fielder his last time up.
SPEAKER_09That was a nice hitch. Just got it up in the air a little or up in the uh zone a little bit. And he, you know, he took that thing. That ball come back, don't give up on it. There we go.
SPEAKER_07First pitch fouled out of play for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_09We've seen seen some weird movement with the ball up. So uh you almost got to chase everything that's up in the air. It's over here.
SPEAKER_07Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09Nice pitch by Jackson.
SPEAKER_07In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_09I know that it looked like where where Peyton caught that. It kind of looked like it was outside, but he was set up on the inside corner. So nice job coming back on the outside.
SPEAKER_07Pitch by Vickery. That hit sharply out to right field. Gaswin makes the catch out there for out number one. That will bring Jennery to the plate. Reaganitter stays on first.
SPEAKER_09You know, I mean, I'd love to say that that was a routine fly ball out to Gaswin, but nothing's routine. That ball had some serious movement on it. He made nice catch.
SPEAKER_07Here's the first pitch. Swing and a miss.
SPEAKER_09So we've gotten him the last couple times, especially the last one. Just keep that ball up there around his elbows. He loves to swing at it. And he hasn't caught up to it yet.
SPEAKER_07Just missed with that second pitch. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09Peyton wanted that. He wanted that pitch. I think he kind of let the Empire know it.
SPEAKER_07Crusaders lead 8-3. We're in the bottom of the seventh inning. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_09That's a weird one.
SPEAKER_07Job. Gas went. Rumbles in for out, makes the catch for out number two. That will bring McDougal to the plate. Last chance for the Bulldogs here in game number one.
SPEAKER_09Nice job by Nathan. Correlling that thing. Staying underneath it. You know, there's no such thing, like I said, no such thing as a routine fly ball today.
SPEAKER_07First pitch. Just high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_09I like that pitch though. Nice pitch.
SPEAKER_07Pick would be up next should the inning get extended.
SPEAKER_09Oh, he went for it.
SPEAKER_07Swing and a miss. Strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_09He had his mind set up. He was going to swing no matter where the ball was, and that thing was up there by his neck. Nice pitch by Jackson. That'd stay right up there. Come back with another one. Here's a pitch. And he did. That's coming back there. Nice job.
SPEAKER_07Hickory comes in and makes the catch for the third out. That will retire the Bulldogs in the bottom of the seventh. Crusaders take game number one, eight to three. And that's the ball game. A lot of good things for Crusaders in this game after the doubleheader sweep on Tuesday night against East. Good to see Dylan come out and he pitched a really good game. Tommy Carroll, day after his birthday home run. And a lot of uh very interesting balls up in the air. Yeah. Uh trying to make plays on him.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I mean, situation baseball today. Uh we did a lot of it, and we capitalized, we hit the ball. We, you know, we hit the ball well at East against East in that first game, and even in the second game, we didn't hit the ball bad. And they continued that today and played solid defense. Nice job by Geecey over at second base. You know, am I right? And uh Dylan Knapp, what a what a competitor. He comes out, and that's exactly what we need to see out of our pitchers. He he competed, he threw strikes, let our defense make plays, and we made some really good plays.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, made some really good plays, and and you know, with with Caleb stepping away, you know, for a little bit, possibly the rest of the season, Healan's looking for that number two pitcher, and and you know, he Dylan made a statement tonight. I mean, he he he pitched really well, had seven strikeouts, uh did a great job, and and if if he can continue to do that, uh that's just one more arm on uh in the pitching staff that that's gonna be a big help for the Crusaders as we move on.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I was really happy with some of the movement that we did on where we positioned players. Tommy Carroll in center field, uh boy, you know, I mean, he really showed me, I mean, that's that's a natural position for him. I wouldn't feel like we're missing a whole lot when Dylan is in pitch, and we don't, you know, he doesn't quite probably have the speed as Dylan, but man, he gets a great jump on the ball.
SPEAKER_07Well, they've got speed and agility camps during the summer that we could put Tommy in and and build that up.
SPEAKER_09He's fast, he's fast, let me tell you. I've seen him on the court, I've seen him playing football. He he's fast. And uh, but uh yeah, it that was really nice to see and Gesey at second base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, for first time out in the field that we've seen at the varsity level. I know he played some JV last night and played a little bit of JV. Uh he's gonna get a lot of reps at JV this week because they want to get him up to speed as quickly as possible. And we have finished game number one. The Crusaders beat Lamars eight to three. Currently, the girls' softball is tied three to three in the top of the third inning. And we are gonna take a five-minute break, and we'll be back with a special between game guest, and we'll get you ready for game number two.

SPEAKER_04And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_07Welcome back to Lamar's. We are between games. The Crusaders won game number one, eight to three. And while we were at break, Shannon Cleary hit a bomb, and the Crusader women now lead six to three in the top of the third. I told you we'd have a special guest at halftime, and we do. We have Jeff LaFaver with us, and obviously he's the dad of Caleb and Aiden. And we're gonna ask a couple questions. I'm gonna leave it up to Jeff. as to how detailed he wants to get about it. But what are your thoughts on the season so far the crush for the Crusaders?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's uh it's been been a great season so far. Um they have they have some youth kind of mixed up uh with a couple seniors that uh four seniors actually that have um set the table so they got they got a lot of energy a lot of a lot of good stuff going on they dropped a couple to east they're a good team it's tough um coach a lot of those kids too over the years and they're they got some good talent but um you know I think you know we have you know good pitching's been good there's been some guys stepping up I think uh I really liked what I saw in that first game I think we we hit the ball against East in that first game so I think we were really uh you know uh you know it just we ran they hit more gaps than than we did so but I like I really like the team there's a lot of good good faces I got I think we got some youth that are that are growing Tommy Carroll hit a bomb there that was really nice to see so no poke sorry yeah that uh so we have you to blame or thank for how well East is able to play baseball then is that is that correct no there's some there's some good kids over there but it's good competitive rivalry. Yeah they've got a lot of uh a lot of talent over there and uh should have a great rest of the season so let's uh let's talk a little bit about Caleb yeah go ahead what what's going on with him what's the situation and let everybody out there know because this this is this is rarefied air for for you know healing I know we've had some kids play in the majors but opportunities to play in the majors but t tell us a little bit about what's going on with him yeah so he uh he had a good spring league this year just been working hard over the winter um obviously he's got a pretty good frame he's excited um you know about the opportunities he's had um you know he's he's worked worked hard to get here and I think he's uh so he got invited to the MLB combine which is a pretty pretty good opportunity for him um to go um I guess um you know throw a bullpen do some things he'll do some interviews he'll do some uh uh medical stuff he'll he'll just he'll he'll get out there and you know it's scouted pretty heavily and and he's got you know he's excited about the opportunity unique opportunity for an 18 year old um and you know we don't know what's gonna happen with that so you know just going out there and I think you know it it was it was a hard decision just kind of you know he's it's unique to play a lot of these kids going to the combine don't don't play in Iowa Iowa has a high school baseball in the summer which I think is if they're terrific summer league in Iowa the weather's great and we've enjoyed it Caleb's been playing since he's eighth grade and now uh other son's playing in eighth grade so it's great to see them out there but his he's got to be ready for this so he's um he's taking some time off here to get his body right and it's it's a tough decision even when he sat down with coaches it was hard for him because he's he's a competitor he wants to be out there but he also you know has a unique opportunity here where he has to be right every other kid that's going to this is going to be at their at their best and really trying to um train and be ready for it and not only body um just physically mentally and then do that and then he's and he's ready to get back here and and and right after that combat it's July 22nd to 27th and so he's um gonna take some time off get his body right um throw some bullpins he's got some uh uh throw throwing a little bit with some guy uh some guys and just get getting right there working on some stuff um you know one of the things it's good to get data to see where his where his you know what his ball is doing what his pitches are doing and and really try to hone in on that and how he can get better um you know for for the short term so it's it's tough he's never had this opportunity he's a big time team player um and it's hard for him so um but it but it's also that unique opportunity for that he's got that'll help him in the future potentially and we'll see where it takes us yeah I know him being a team player and uh you mentioned he's been scouted a lot John and I jokingly say whenever once he's done pitching in a game 35 40 people get up and then they and they leave I mean you can tell when they all get there and they've all got their backpacks with their major league uh teams on and stuff like that and I know they've they followed him they've watched him in travel ball as well correct this spring there was there was a there was um there was a lot of good players down this spring I mean he he pitched against uh a lot of good players down in Des Moines this spring we've had we have a lot of our guys you know in the Sioux City area that played down there and the competition was incredible um a lot of good ball players down there and it got them ready for the season but yeah there were there were scouts down there um and you know like like just it's it's intimidating I I was a pitcher and you know just trying to get out there and do your best and sometimes you're not gonna be your best and you know that's that's that's where it's at and failure is part of the game.
SPEAKER_07Yeah I know uh the the last time he pitched they must the the scouts that were there must have they must have had enough of what they wanted on him or saw what they needed because they left before he he left the game. I mean I think it was mid-inning I noticed a lot of them just they got up and left and I figured okay they they've got all the data all the information they they need on on Caleb and I just you know again I appreciate you coming on and and talking with us about it because you know it kind of clears the air and and answers some questions that people listening might have and and you know some of the parents might have and I and I know that um you know I've had a lot of conversations with my son-in-law Jeff JV coach and just to kind of find out you know what's going on and it's like well here's what's going on but you can't say anything and it's like okay so I've you know we've I've been very guarded with that but uh you know I appreciate you know what you guys have done for for the program so far and and looking forward to seeing Aiden grow as as time goes on and and when when is the major league draft?
SPEAKER_05Uh July 11th. July 11th okay so the combine is after the draft uh it's before before okay so june 22nd 27th is is the combine okay correct correct and yep and that's down in Arizona correct well you're gonna go to some warm weather and enjoy some good time down there I'm sure yeah I don't have to do anything so just uh be a supportive uh dad and and and watch so I know is mom gonna go uh not sure yet we have it's we're it's hard these it's hard to get the schedule because they they have so many people are trying to set itineraries for and everything so we're work waiting on that and then we'll see kind of where where our paths go but um I'll tell you healing healing has been a a great program it's it's and my son's a senior he's coach Osbourne was just a a great great um mentor for him I guess is from on the field and you know and I think he's had other mentors you know so many people have been helpful for him but um healing's been a great part um we've had a a a great run and and he's excited to continue when he gets back and make an impact uh his brother's playing it's been cool to see them play together and we're um we really love healing baseball um you know I didn't go to healing my wife did but I I I love I love it I think it's a great place they teach it the right way coaches do it the right way and I just um blessed to have my boys in the program yeah I'm I'm in the same boat as you I didn't I didn't go to healing or graduate from there my wife did and uh I moved up here from Texas and bought into it rather quickly I didn't have much of a choice but we uh you know we enjoy having you back and I know that I I know Jeff is really loved being around your kids uh Mary Cates loved being around your kids you know at school and here at the baseball park and and getting to know you guys and again I I appreciate you coming on taking the time to talk with us and good luck down there in Arizona and looking forward to some great start by Greg McGrey things happening down there.
