SPEAKER_06

He will be DH'ing for Mason Moravik. And batting ninth for the Crusaders will be Chase Beck. He'll be playing second base. For Lamars in game number two. They will lead off with Gavin Clary. He will be at shortstop. Batting second, Jordan Copperude playing right field. Batting third, Drake Peters. He'll be at second. Batting fourth will be Brett McInnes. He'll be catching. Batting sixth, playing first base, Ben Reganitter. Batting after Reganitter will be Isaiah Tolson. He'll be in center field. Batting seventh will be Jacob Jennery. He will be in right field or left field, I'm sorry. Batting eighth will be Brevin Dale. He will be DH for Dominic Medougal, who will be the pitcher. And batting ninth will be Cooper Pick. I'm sorry, you need to go back and listen to that interview. That was very informative. Very good one. I appreciate Jeff Lafavre coming on and visiting with us about what's going on with Caleb and the opportunities that are ahead for him. And he's, you know, you missed it. I know you'll go back and listen to it, but he's heading to the draft combine down in Arizona June 22nd through the 27th. Major League Draft is July 11th and 12th. And he's he's gonna go down and you know basically find out where he where he falls and what's going on down there. And there's 300 kids that are down there. Most of them are already down there because their baseball season's done. Iowa's the only state that plays in the summer, so that's part of the reason Caleb's taking the break is so he can get his mind right, his body right, uh work on some things that he needs to work on and do the best that he can do when he's down there.

SPEAKER_07

You know, uh getting seventh playing left field, number nine, Jacob Jennery.

SPEAKER_09

Actually, I was actually talking to his wife after that there and got a lot of that same information um that Jeff was to Mr. and Mr. Kennedy. And here's the thing I mean Caleb Caleb is a is a great looking, not just a pitcher, but a good ball player. He's six foot six, six foot seven. You can't teach that Mike, and he's throwing in the mid-90s. Uh uh with the chance of obviously to throw even harder. And obviously he is he has uh attracted several professional scouts, if not all of the teams, have been to a game this year that he has started and pitched and that we have called. And and we've noted that. I mean, the minute he goes out of the game, the place clears out, and uh we may never see that again, to be quite honest with you.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's it's been a nice thing to see, it really has.

SPEAKER_09

And the other thing about that, Mike, and I know we're getting ready to start here, is that if you're another player and you see these scouts there, what a great opportunity for you. Because you don't know the connections that those scouts have with colleges, uh, you know, and other pro teams. And they might come looking, I've heard this several times, they come looking at one guy, and and somebody else has a terrific name and it catches their eye, and that's how a lot of guys get drafted.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, absolutely, and that's uh you know, him having uh Caleb on the team is it's a benefit for many reasons. He's a great teammate, great kid, but it it gives exposure to some of these kids that wouldn't normally get that exposure. Tommy Carroll steps in to lead off for the Crusaders. First pitch in there for a ball, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Well, talking to Tommy Carroll's dad here. Boom. G many rip that Tommy gets hold of another one.

SPEAKER_06

It's over the left fielder's or center fielder's head. Carroll in with a double.

SPEAKER_09

He is absolutely zoned in tonight, and he is ripping the ball. And that's not even his bat, Mike. His last bat, he broke his bat in half. So he's using somebody else's bat now, and he's still stroking it.

SPEAKER_06

Nice job there by Carroll to lead off with the double. That'll bring Erickson to the plate.

SPEAKER_07

Catcher number 12, Peyton Erickson.

SPEAKER_06

So Healing with the chance to make some noise here right away in game number two. I gotta get rid of some of these papers, John. I got way too many. That pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

That beautiful pitch. Uh got the outside corner. I mean, what a great, great situation. Guy on second base here, first inning.

SPEAKER_06

McDougal delivers. That pitch fouled out of play. No balls, two strikes to Erickson. JJ Hope, do up next.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I think Payton was look looking for that curveball that he threw him. And uh good job keeping his weight back, but uh McDougal throws him a fastball, so he's a little behind on it. Hit a foul off to the right side.

SPEAKER_06

Checks the runner at second, deals to the plate. Swinging a miss, strike three. Strikeout number one. First out of the inning for the Crusaders. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate. Chaner do up next.

SPEAKER_07

JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_09

I'm hoping you brought that uh stash of gum from the last one. I I'm out. I thought I had another piece in my pocket here, Mike, and I'm out.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. High for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, McDougal comes with that uh, he's not necessarily over the top. He's got kind of about uh about a half up release on the ball, kind of over by his shoulders.

SPEAKER_06

Brody Shaner does do up next. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Does not does not get fooled very often, does not strike out very often.

SPEAKER_06

Bitch, that hit him. Man, that thing second time he's been hit tonight.

SPEAKER_09

As loud as that sounded, that don't that's that thing hit bone because that was loud.

SPEAKER_06

Puts runners at first and second with one out. Bring Shaner to the plate. And that wind is really whipping that flag out in center field.

SPEAKER_07

Brody, Shaner.

SPEAKER_09

I'm sure Grandma's listening back home on the radio, and your grandson, he's doing okay. He's just fine over there at first base.

SPEAKER_06

Hope Grandpa's recovering well from his heart surgery.

SPEAKER_09

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Shout out to Andy Osborne's mom listening up outside of Faustoria, Iowa. First pitch in there for a ball. One ball, no strikes. We've just had we've had good fortune of having really good people to talk to between games this year. We've had Coach Osborne, Jeff Lafavre, we had the gas wins. Yeah. We've just we've been very fortunate. Healing's very fortunate to have those families keep things going and keep keep the program strong.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I think we had Pat Herbst uh still like to get Sean on here uh for the girls' soccer. Sean Mansfield. Nice swing. Hit hard back up the middle. That's gonna score.

SPEAKER_06

That will score Carroll from second. Oh man. And JJ Hope from first. Wow. Crusaders score two runs on the basis clearing double by Shaner. That will bring up Dylan Knapp. Crusaders lead early in this one, two to nothing, top of the first. One out, Shaner at second.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, great job by Shaner keeping his weight back, taking that thing to right field, right center.

SPEAKER_07

Score on the double, bringing up number 22, Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_06

Dylan fouls that one off.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, jumped on that first pitch. I like seeing that. I was talking to his dad in between games, and we were talking about that first pitch, you know, sometimes being the best one is that one there was no exception.

SPEAKER_06

Foul's that second pitch off. No balls, two strikes to Dylan.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he's just missing it. Just missing it. And we saw this in the first game.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

That one.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan hits that one. Could be.

SPEAKER_06

Say goodnight to it, folks. That's a two-run home run for Dylan Knapp. That brings a score four to nothing in top of the first inning for the Crusaders. Second home run home run of the night for Crusader baseball. Tommy Carroll had one in the first game.

SPEAKER_09

Oh my gosh. Get it up in the get it up in the O zone there.

SPEAKER_06

He got it up and he got it up, folks.

SPEAKER_09

You know. And I was just saying to his dad, I said, how important was that for Dylan in his last about the first game? I said to rip that to get his confidence back, and once he does, he smokes this one.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I think I think he's earned the right to not be called Dilly anymore. And I'm gonna call him Dylan the rest of the way.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you know, and that was to the to the deeper part of the field, too. That was left center.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, the outfielders took a couple steps and that was it. Here's the pitch. Gasman steps in. That first pitch, no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, our girls are leading 6-4 behind us, and and they had a uh gigantic home run by uh uh the Cleary girl for Healand.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch, bounces in there for ball one, one ball, one strike. Hayden Lafaver do up next. There's one out. Healan leads four to nothing here in the top of the first. Here's the pitch. And there for strike two, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's a that's a tough one. That's a good that's a good high school strike, and but it that's a hard one to catch up with. It's kind of up there by your up there by the midsection.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Pitch high in there, two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

So were you interviewing uh Jeff? Did he did he talk about uh his son Noah breaking his nose on his birthday?

SPEAKER_06

No, he did not. We didn't we didn't get to that. He Nathan gets caught looking for strikeout number two of the inning for Lamar's pitching. That's two down.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I think Nathan was looking for a curve on that one and grooming that fastball right up the knees.

SPEAKER_06

Brings Aiden Lefavre to the plate. Number 18, Aiden LaFaver. Beckett Blatford would be due up next. Should young Mr. LaFavre extend the inning. Here's the pitch. Low for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I got a chance to see that umpire in between games, too. And what a nice job the first guy did. And this guy here's got hit. Looks like he's got his zone. Nice hit.

SPEAKER_06

Hits sharply down third baseman. He falls down trying to make the play, able to make the throw over. That'll retire the side for the Crusaders. They push four runs across on the strength of Dylan Knapp's two-run home run. We're through one half inning. Crusaders lead four to nothing. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

We're back in Lamar's, bottom of the first inning. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by Breyercliffe Hall of Famer John Tritz. Teams are batting 237 against him. He's given up 18 hits, six runs, five of those have been earned. He's walked four, hit two batters, and struck out 17. He's got a 1.84 ERA. He will face Clary, Copperude, and Peters to start off the bottom of the first for the Bulldogs. And you know, Clary, it's it it'd be nice to have him on our team. We can't say enough things about him. He did a great job pitching both times. He's faced Keelan this year, kept his team in the game, uh, just wasn't able to work it to where he could get the win. But he's a good solid player, and he's just a sophomore.

SPEAKER_09

So really it plays on the same AAU team as Dylan M, by the way. Oh, okay. So those two are are very very much uh acquainted and know of each other and and friends and play together, and and uh yeah, he's a nice looking athlete, Mike. Shortstop, yeah, it's fast um hits the ball.

SPEAKER_06

Lafaver deals. First pitch just outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

And we need the same thing from Aiden that we got from Dylan. We just need him to be solid, be competitive, and and let our defense do you know do the work.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch in there for a strike, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Well, it is really for our shortstop and third baseman, they're gonna have problems here with that. Sun is right in their eyes.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, they're both holding their gloves up in front of their faces to block the sun out. Pitch outside for ball two, two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

It's kind of a weird time of the day with that shadow you know in between the mound and home.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. And that hit him. Tried to throw a curved ball that didn't didn't break. Clary down at first base on the hit by pitch. That'll bring Copperude to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Aiden's trying to find his zone here. Had a little little trouble finding the stretch zone there. I mean he's not missing by much. Yeah, like you said, that's a curveball just didn't break.

SPEAKER_06

Copper steps in from the left side. That first pitch in there for a strike.

SPEAKER_09

There you go.

SPEAKER_06

No balls, one strike to Copperude. Peters to follow.

SPEAKER_09

And that's how you respond right there. Come back. That first one in.

SPEAKER_06

Aiden deals. Pitch high for ball one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

You really got to keep your eye on Cleary over there.

SPEAKER_06

Aiden works quickly, swing and a miss. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, we got a solid defense out here, you know, and his job, you know, uh let them put the ball to the bat and let our defense make a play.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Just low. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Nice pitch. I don't mind that.

SPEAKER_06

Bottom of the first inning, Crusaders lead four to nothing. Dylan Knapp with the two-run home run in the top of the first to aid the scoring. Here's the pitch by Aiden. Just outside. Three balls, two strikes. Clary at first. Peters do up next.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he's got he's got such a really, really good slider. And uh just missed on the outside corner. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Clary goes. That pitch ball four.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_06

So a hit by pitch and a walk. First two batters for the Bulldogs. Puts runners at first and second with no outs. Peters steps in.

SPEAKER_07

Second baseman. Great. Peters.

SPEAKER_09

Gonna force out any base here.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Lefaver. Pitch fouled off out of play for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, the thing with Peters, he likes that he likes that high strike, and he'll go for it. That first pitch with Aiden had he's right there up there by the numbers, caught him on the fist.

SPEAKER_06

LeFaver deals. Nice. Swing and a miss. Fooled him on that one. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

That's that change up curve slider he does, and he throw it to the right to the outside corner, Major Chase.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he does have a really good breaking ball.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Looks in, winds up, here's the pitch. Fouled weakly down the third baseline. Lamar's coach makes a good one-handed stab. Showing everybody the proper technique on how to do it. Peter steps back in. Favor checks the runner at second. Comes to the plate. That ball hit out to right field. And they know about Nathan Gaswin's arm. They don't try to now score from second base. That'll load the bases. Bases full of bulldogs. McGinnis steps in. And this is a young man who can tie this game up with one swing of the bat.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely. We saw his power in the first game. You know, then this is a big test for the young man for Aiden. He's in a jam. He's got bases loaded, no outs. You know, we don't need that lead runner. I mean, just let our defense do the work. We've got to force out any base here.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Reaganetter would be due up next.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, we've got third baseman's coming in. I think we're going home here.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Anything just missed for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Anything on uh first and third. I think we're coming home first.

SPEAKER_06

Let's see an old-fashioned triple play on this one. That'd be good.

SPEAKER_09

Cut himself in a little behind here.

SPEAKER_06

Favor deals to the plate. That ball hit.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, he didn't see it.

SPEAKER_06

Out to Dylan and center. He wasn't. He didn't see it.

SPEAKER_09

Oh. No.

SPEAKER_06

That'll score Clary.

SPEAKER_09

He makes that catch 10 out of 10. He didn't see it.

SPEAKER_06

McKinnis with the RBI single. Crusaders lead 4-1. There's still no outs here in the bottom of the first. That'll bring Reaganator to the plate.

SPEAKER_07

First baseman number six, Ben Reaganator.

SPEAKER_09

Boy, we need an out here.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Foul back. Yeah. Strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

That was a good pitch.

SPEAKER_06

Tolson is due up next.

SPEAKER_09

Came inside on him up there by the up there by the fist.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up by LeFavre and the pitch. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Bases loaded with bulldogs. No outs. Healing leads four to one, bottom of the first inning.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, this is this is a huge bat.

SPEAKER_06

Lafavre steps off.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, we we really need to get him and then force force ourselves in a situation, get one out the bases loaded, then we can go up the middle.

SPEAKER_06

Favor with the wind up and the pitch. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout number one for Caleb Aiden LeFaver. Out number one. Base is still loaded. Tolson steps in.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, caught the black on the outside corner, Mike. Beautiful job, framing by Peyton on the outside corner and getting that call. That was huge out. Huge.

SPEAKER_06

Now you get back to double play depth. Yeah. Get that double play and get out of this inning, only giving up one run.

SPEAKER_09

It's like we're still coming home on the corners. Shortstop second base are at regular depth.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes. I was playing third base. I'd I'd play up there too, so I didn't have to stand and look into that sun.

SPEAKER_09

Man, that is that is absolutely wicked. These guys.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Aiden. Nice. Fouled off. One ball, one strike. Jennery do up next.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, they got sunglasses on and they're still got their hands over their eyes.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, right field's the only place that doesn't have to worry about it.

SPEAKER_09

No.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Dylan found a strip of shade out in the outfield in center field, so he's able to get out of it. Two balls, one strike, one out. Base is full of bulldogs.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you can't lose him here. Gotta come back at him.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Good job on that outside corner. Great job painting the corner. Here we go. He's gonna come in the inside. Lined up by Aiden.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Hey, who was looking?

SPEAKER_06

Fouled off. Count stays. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

He was looking for a curveball there. And that was just a uh stick my bat out uh to uh not get the call third strike.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that that's a hope I can make some type of contact swing there.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up and the pitch. Popped up. Aiden Lefaver comes in, makes the play.

SPEAKER_09

That's good job. Out number two. Good job by Peyton. Uh that's normally his ball, but with this win, he immediately took his off and says to the young man to Aiden, that's yours, take it.

SPEAKER_06

Jennery steps in with two outs, bases loaded. Crusaders lead four to one in the bottom of the first.

SPEAKER_07

Courtesy runner for the catcher number eight, Gunner Burkin pass. Jacob Jennery at the plate.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up by Aiden. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike one. No balls, one strike. Dale, the DH, would be due up next.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Aiden's starting to get in his zone. Finding those corners.

SPEAKER_06

Deals. That's it. Out to short left field. One run will score. Two runs will score. That makes a score four to three here in the bottom of the first inning. Lamar still has runners at first and second with two outs.

SPEAKER_09

That's the second time Dylan. Dylan had no clue where that ball was. He's losing that thing off the off the barrel. And that sun is it's just got to be the sun. I mean, he just it's going right up right up into it.

SPEAKER_07

Now batting for the Bulldogs. Number 12, Revan Dale.

SPEAKER_09

I don't think he would have had a shot at that, but but still.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Lamar's has pushed three runs across after Healing pushed four across in their half of the inning. It's four to three, bottom of the first. Pitch fouled off strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, and this is where Aiden, I mean, this is where you learn. I mean, you gotta compete here, get out of this inning, and and keep the damage minimized, and uh just come back and and uh see if our offense can get going and then come back and and compete hard the next inning.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. There we go. Fouled off again. Just missed a semi heading down the street.

SPEAKER_09

I tried to do that inside curve ball here. Bring that thing on the inside corner. He's he's right up on the plate.

SPEAKER_06

Hayden takes a long look in, he comes set, checks the runner at second. Deals to the plate, bounces in there for a ball, one ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he he tried sneaking that curve ball in and just got it in the dirt a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Lafavre. That ball hit out center field. Nap on his horse. Makes the catch. Almost up against the fence for out number three. Bulldogs push across three runs in the inning. We head to the top of the second. Crusaders lead four to three. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

We are back heading to the top of the second inning. Healing will send Beckett Blatchford Chase Beck and Tommy Carroll to the plate. So I mean what's he gonna say?

SPEAKER_09

Well, if he gets it up today, there's no way he can tell us it wasn't wind-aided and if he actually clovers it.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_09

Let's hope we can do that tonight.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. High and outside. One ball, one strike. Here's the pitch. In there, strike two. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you gotta be gotta be really, you can't be real selective here on the third one here. Gotta protect the plate.

SPEAKER_06

And the pitch. Nice. Ropes that over the first baseman's head. That's gonna be a double. He is gonna go for two. And he is gonna get in there. There we go. A double to lead off the inning by Beckett Blatchford. Backs up the home run last night with the double in the varsity game.

SPEAKER_09

He reached out. That ball was on the outside of the plate, Mike. And far outside.

SPEAKER_06

He was you said don't be selective, and he was just trying to make contact, and he did. He put it down that that first baseline.

SPEAKER_09

How he got that ball down the first baseline where that pitch was is incredible.

SPEAKER_07

Second baseman, number 13.

SPEAKER_06

And I think the Richter scale was going off a little bit as he was rounding first, headed to second. Beck steps in.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's definitely a rumbling double there. That's awesome. Good job, Mr. Young Man.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. That pitch high. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Chase. Chase had some nice contact in that first game. Had nice rope in between left, left, and right and center.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch inside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Blatchford at second with the leadoff double.

SPEAKER_09

I'm about to put my long sleeve shirt on here. Start to get a little chilly with the sun going down.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that's that's why I brought one. I knew with that sun going down, it was gonna potentially get cold. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

There we go. That's gotta score him.

SPEAKER_06

That's gonna score Blatchford from second. And Beck is headed for third. He's in there with the triple. RBI triple for Beck. That brings a score of five to three Crusaders. So there's no outs here in the top of the second.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely great running by Beck. I mean, they were uh they did not get a good relay in, and he saw that and he took off.

SPEAKER_06

Makes a score of five to three Crusaders here in the top of the second. There are no outs. Beck at third base with the RBI triple, and that brings Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

We got something going on here.

SPEAKER_06

Coach talking to the umpire, and I don't know what uh I think they're probably asking about possible runner in or first baseman interference over on as he tried to round first.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I think I think you're right. Well, let's see if whoa he's out. Who's he calling out?

SPEAKER_07

He now batting left fielder, number eight. I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

I'm missing Beck is we don't know what he what the reason is, but Beck is out, so there is one out in the inning. That brings Tommy Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Well, either either they're calling interference or they're saying he missed the base. We'll get a we'll get a see if we can get some kind of uh clarity on that.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

I'm looking to see if okay.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

There it's that could be lined out into the gap.

SPEAKER_06

That could be up against the fence. That is the second double of the game for Tommy Carroll. He is on second with one out, and that will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate, hit by pitch this last time up.

SPEAKER_09

Well, maybe he needs to break his bat more often, Mike. Maybe so.

SPEAKER_06

He should have been using the this other bat all along.

SPEAKER_09

I don't know. The home run was a shot, so Tommy Carroll was a big thing.

SPEAKER_06

Is that like uh the natural wonder boy? He broke his bat now.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yeah, something like that. That's okay.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch to Peyton.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, Peyton wanted that. Get once you don't know here.

SPEAKER_06

Clary makes the catch out at shortstop for out number two. That will bring JJ Hope to the plate. He was hit by pitch his first time. Erickson struck out. So that'll bring Hope to the plate.

SPEAKER_07

Shortstop, number five, JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_06

I have to thank Leah Knapps. She brought John and I a hot dog between games and brought me a lemonade.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, was that Leah? I was wondering who brought those hot dogs over. That was Leah.

SPEAKER_06

You're hot dog after.

SPEAKER_09

Well, did you eat my second?

SPEAKER_06

No, I I took it over and gave it to Jeff.

SPEAKER_09

I still got one more bob dog in here, Mike.

SPEAKER_06

Jeff looked like he was gonna gnaw his arm off over there. He didn't get dinner, so here's the pitch. Fouled off by JJ. One ball, one strike. Leah went and got blankets for everybody except you and I, John. She brought sweatshirts, blankets.

SPEAKER_09

Well, I got a coat and long pants, but you know, of course, they're in my vehicle. Why would you bring them over?

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Nice. JJ hits that outside shortstop. Clary's gonna, he's gonna feel that. Still a close play at first base, but JJ is out. So the Crusaders push another run across in the top of the second. We'll go to the bottom of the second. They'd lead this one five to three. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_00

In the top of the second, he was Paul's life advocates is honored to announce the actor Jim Cavizel will be the keynote speaker at our November 21st Christmas Gala at the Iowa Events Center. SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

Welcome back, everybody. We are in Lamar's game number two. The Crusaders won game one, eight to three. They lead this one five to three. We're going to the bottom of the second. Lamar's will send Pick, Clary, and Kaparoo to the plate to face Aiden Lafavre.

SPEAKER_09

Oh wait, we need uh, I mean, Aiden needs to go out here, Mike, and he needs to just pretend like we got a 0-0 ball game, start crash. He didn't throw bad in the first inning. They had a couple that got out into center field.

SPEAKER_07

Number seven, Cooper.

SPEAKER_09

The one for sure Dylan just he just didn't see, and it just bounced in front of him. I don't think he would have got to the second one, but first pitch to pick, fouled off.

SPEAKER_06

No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

But I think that I think that sun's finally going down here, and it's out of these guys as maybe the third baseman's about the only one that's that still has it a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

The favor deals to the plate. That hit out. Gaswin rumbles over, gets under it, makes the catch.

SPEAKER_09

Absolute great jump by Gaswin.

SPEAKER_06

Flyout to the right fielder by pick for out number one. That'll bring Clary to the plate. In the softball game behind us, the Crusaders lead 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's been a good game over there.

SPEAKER_07

Shortstop, number two, Gavin, Clary.

SPEAKER_06

I just I can't say enough good things about this Clary kid, not because he's my wife's relative, but this kid can play ball.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, he got fooled on that one. Swing and a miss for strike one. You know, I think that's the that's the first bad thing we've seen him do.

SPEAKER_09

Well, he's looking for a fastball there and got fooled on the curve. And you know, I he came up with the idea that at uh his first at bat uh Aiden threw him a fastball for a strike.

SPEAKER_06

That fouled off down the first baseline.

SPEAKER_09

But you're right, Mike. He he's uh he's solid.

SPEAKER_06

That landed right about where Ethan Erickson tried to run through the fence last year to catch a foul ball.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I was wondering if they'd get it replaced by the time we got back up here. Kathy LaFaver up against the net, getting some pictures here of Aiden pitching. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout out number two. That will bring Kaparoo to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

So that's a great job by Peyton. That ball in the dirt looked like it was in the dirt, but he actually got his glove under it. And what you do is you get that ball up and you show the umpire so he doesn't have to make that throw first.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, sometimes you can really sell that, even if it hits the dirt. You can sell that that you caught it.

SPEAKER_06

Seven to six behind us in the softball game now. That ball's popped up. JJ Hope heading out to try to make the play. Boy. And he goes way out there. That is out number three. No runs for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the second. In the bottom of the second. We will head to the top of the third. Crusaders lead five to three. We will be back in one minute.

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

Welcome back to Lamar's. We head to the top of the third inning. Crusaders lead this one 5-3. They will send Shaner. Knapp and Gaswent to the plate. Heading to the seventh inning in the softball game behind us. Crusaders lead seven to six.

SPEAKER_09

That's gonna come down to the wire over there.

SPEAKER_06

I think every baseball and softball game should be like this.

SPEAKER_09

That's kind of crazy how close these fields are together.

SPEAKER_06

Schayner steps in. Healan will meet Harlan at Bishop Mueller Field at 4 o'clock. Pre-game 345. Swing and a miss by Brody on that one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, a little over anxious on that swing. Kind of knew what he was was gonna get and just ahead of him.

SPEAKER_06

Breaking the action so Coach Sitzman can get over to the first base coaching box. Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Dylan nap due up.

SPEAKER_09

Anything close here, you gotta be going.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Just missed. Ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, he wanted that one. Catcher turned around and says, uh, Mr. Umpire, sir. Did I? Where was that, please?

SPEAKER_06

Holmes for the poor, sir. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Shaner goes down on strikes. One out. Brings Dylan Knapp. Homer did his first time up.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he got all of that.

SPEAKER_07

Center fielder, number 22, Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that first at bat. Yeah, I mean, he he really stroked that.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the first pitch to Dylan.

SPEAKER_09

For it again. He got to get on first base. That's coming back in. Oh.

SPEAKER_06

Pops out to the first baseman. For out number two. That will bring Nathan Gaslin to the plate. He struck out looking his first time up.

SPEAKER_07

Right fielder. Number 25, Nathan Gaslin.

SPEAKER_06

We're gonna get to the bottom of the seventh in the softball game. We're gonna dual call here, John. Yeah. Here's the pitch. First pitch to Nathan in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that was a nice pitch. Inside corner.

SPEAKER_06

Here's a pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Boy, he just missed that one.

SPEAKER_06

That ball hit out to Clary. It's short.

SPEAKER_09

Oh.

SPEAKER_06

He makes the play for out number three. That will retire the Crusaders in the third. We go to the bottom of the third. Crusaders lead five to three. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

All right, we're back in Lamar's. We're going to try and experiment here, folks. In the softball game, Crusaders lead seven to six. They have runners on first and second in the top of the seventh with two outs. In the baseball game, Lamars will send Peters McInnes and Reaganitter to the plate here in the bottom of the third. Crusaders lead five to three. I think he only threw about seven or eight pitches.

SPEAKER_09

Which he needed to because he he threw about 37, I think, in the first inning. So that was a good inning to keep that pitch count down.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch by Lefaver. Bounces in there for a ball. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, what we could do, Mike, is you could call the balls and strikes here. I could call them over there. And we could we could have a little fun here.

SPEAKER_06

We'll really confuse the people at home. Here's the pitch. Outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Now he's got to come back, find the zone here, Aiden. Take a deep breath.

SPEAKER_06

Crusader softball team looking to add to their lead. They lead seven to six in the top of the seventh. Here's the pitch. Just misses. Ball three. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Prett come back with that curveball, which has been kind of his go-to pitch when he needs a strike.

SPEAKER_06

Aiden with the wind up in the pitch. High for ball four. Peters walks to lead the inning off. That will bring McKinnonis to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Good job by Peyton. Peyton needs to go out and talk to him, calm him down. And you know, and just say, you know what? No harm, no foul. Let's go after this guy. We got we got a force out at second. Let's let our defense do the job. Now batting.

SPEAKER_07

Catcher, number five, Brett. McGinnis.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, it's a good hitter, too. You got a good hitter at the plate.

SPEAKER_06

Favor from the stretch, takes a long look in. He comes set, deals to the plate. That ball. Bounce Moravic at first. Throw to second to for the force out. McGuinness on with the fielder's choice. That will bring up Reaganetter. One out here in the inning.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, great job by JJ to corral that ball. Ball into dirt. Good play by Moravik over there at first. Nice hard hit over there by McGuinness. First baseman.

SPEAKER_06

Healing softball, unable to push any runs across. They'll go to the bottom of the seventh inning with a seven-to-six lead. LaFaver deals. Okay. It's only fair. We've had two softballs over here tonight, so it's only fair that they get a baseball over there.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_06

No balls, one strike to count to Reaganitter. He will be followed by Tolson. Throw over to first.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I like that.

SPEAKER_06

McKinnis back in time.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you know, Aid's got that long delivery to home plate, so every now and then you got to keep those guys honest over it first so they don't get a huge jump on you. Nice.

SPEAKER_06

Pitch fouled off. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Well, that's one thing he has really worked on since the first time I saw him, Mike, is his delivery and release from the uh stretch to home plate. Yeah, he's really quick in that up.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Runner goes. Fouled off. McKinnis will head back to first. Count remains. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, they had a hit and run on there. You know, and I and I like that move by Coach Cander, you know. A good opportunity. You got a you got a left-handed hitter here, which kind of kind of blocks the vision of your catcher. You know, he can't always see the guy jump when you got a left-handed hitter up.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Aiden. Runner goes. Throw to second. Oh. Throw was high. McGuinness was able to slide in under the tag.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, great job getting rid of the ball by Peyton. Just a little high. Uh JJ had to jump up in the air. Try to bring that tag down.

SPEAKER_06

One ball, two strikes. Tolson do up next. Here's the pitch pile of favor.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Got him.

SPEAKER_06

Swing and a miss. Strike three. That's out number two. That will bring Tolson to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, it's a good waist pitch.

SPEAKER_06

In the softball game, Lamars leads off the bottom of the seventh with a double. They've got a runner on second base with no outs. Crusaders lead that one seven to six. Baseball game. Healing leads five to three. We're in the bottom of the third. Here's the pitch. Nice curve. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that that's that curveball slider on the inside corner, Mike. That uh he he throws it so well and he can place it. That's a tough pitch to hit.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_06

The ball hit out to JJ Hope. It's short. Makes the play. Over to first. Out number three. That will retire the side. No runs for the Bulldogs. In the bottom of the third. We'll keep it here so we can keep up with the softball game over here. It is seven to six. Lady Crusaders. One out for Lamar's. They've got a runner at second base.

SPEAKER_07

Crusaders in the top of the fourth will be Lefer. Blastford and pitch count for Le Favor.

SPEAKER_06

Here's that. I can't give as good a play by play on the softball because I don't know any of the girls. But you can do some sponsors as we're going along here, John.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I'm going to throw some sponsors in here to get caught up here, Mike. Neil Pfeiffer, KOC insurance agent, McGrib inspection, People's Bank of Sioux City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace, Trinity Heights, Rooley Family Chiropractic, Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Sioux Land, Sioux Body Shop, Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux City Sprinkler, Sioux City Symphony and Orchestra, Sneaky's Chicken, Soho, Kitchen and Bar, St. Augustine Indian Mission, and Staber Meets, and Sunnybrook Dental. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healan Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_06

One ball, two strikes to the batter in the softball game, one out runner at second. Healan leads. That ball hit sharply back up the middle. They're gonna send her from second to throw home. Oh, she decides against it and goes back. Lamars now has runners at second and third in the softball game. Healan leads seven to six. There's one out in the bottom of the seven. Aiden LeFavre. Now back to baseball. Aiden LeFavre leads off for Healan here in the top of the fourth. Crusaders lead five to three. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Nice pitch.

SPEAKER_06

In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

That was a nice pitch by the Lamars kid here. Right at the uh right at the knees. Tough pitch for Aiden to catch up to.

SPEAKER_06

Blatchford to follow and then Beck.

SPEAKER_09

He roped that one.

SPEAKER_06

That ball hit over the third baseman's head out into left field. LeFavre singles. That'll bring Blatchford to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Good job by Aiden. He really turned. He turned. That's the best I've seen him turn on the ball this year, Mike. And he roped that thing down the left field line.

SPEAKER_06

He did a nice job. Calgeese going into pinch run for LeFavor.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Beckett uh got Beckett up. He roped that ball down the right field line. He was last at bat.

SPEAKER_06

Guinness takes a long look in. Checks runner at first. Here's the pitch. Fouled off by Blatchford. Strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I think he was he was going for that uh that home run to make it a JV varsity uh duo. On the old home home run threat. Yeah that's uh we go.

SPEAKER_06

Bounces that out to the second baseman.

SPEAKER_04

Oh whoa, Blatchford got down the line on that one, was just out. Boy, not by much.

SPEAKER_06

For out number one, that brings Beck to the plate. He'll be followed by Carroll. It is seven to six in the softball game. Two balls, two strikes, one out. Runners at second and third for Lamar's.

SPEAKER_07

Second baseman, number 13, Chase Beck.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Chase has been really swinging the bat well here in this doubleheader. Like to see him continue it here, get this run in.

SPEAKER_05

There's a pitch.

SPEAKER_09

There, another one.

SPEAKER_06

Hartball hit out to the gap between center and left. Geezy scores for second.

SPEAKER_09

The outfielder. He's going for three.

SPEAKER_06

And he's going for three. Let's hope he touched all the bases this time. So I guess he's got a triple and a single.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, he is stroking the ball, Mike. That's almost identical to what he did the first time up.

SPEAKER_06

That pushes Geeesey across, makes the score six to three. And that will bring Tommy Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

And we know, and Tommy's just smoked the ball his first two at bats. Left fielder number eight.

SPEAKER_07

Tommy Carroll.

SPEAKER_06

High drama in the softball game. Seven to six, two outs. Lamars has runners at second and third. Here's the pitch over here. Ball one to Tommy Carroll. No balls, two strikes in the softball game. Two outs.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. I mean, Tommy is just really seeing the ball tonight.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. That pitch to Carroll is high. Two balls, no strikes. And Tim, if you're listening, we won't charge you for doing double duty tonight.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, if you have the Here's the pitch. Swinging a miss. Healing softball sweeps Lamar's Bulldogs. They win game two, seven to six. Now we'll focus on baseball. Three balls, no strikes to Tommy Carroll.

SPEAKER_09

Three and oh to Tommy. I mean, it's hard to describe this setup here, but anybody that's been out to Riverside Park and seen how those baseball, the softball fields are set up over there. This is kind of how the baseball softball setup is here. You know, they got a baseball field and then the softball field just butts up right against it. So you got two games going on literally 30 feet apart.

SPEAKER_06

Carroll walks, that will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate. Runners at first and third. One out.

SPEAKER_09

Peyton's just missed his couple pop-ups in the infield. He's just underneath it. You'd like to see him straighten this out.

SPEAKER_06

I mean's pushed to run across here in the top of the fourth. They lead six to three.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he just needs to keep his weight back.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Pitch to Peyton high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, keep his weight back here a little bit. Drive that ball right up the middle, right through the pitcher's head. That's kind of what you're what you're taught to do.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. That pitch. High and inside ball two. Two balls, no strikes. JJ Hope, do up next.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, we'd be nice. We need to get one of these guys in. Situation baseball here. We got first and third. You got this pitcher thinking, are we gonna double steal?

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Low, ball three, three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

I would venture to say that uh he's got the he does not have the green light on this one with three and all. And if he does, it better be something pretty good.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Yeah. That pitch in there for a strike. That was first strike after seven consecutive balls. Counts three to one to Peyton.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I mean I'd like to see a double steal here.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Low, ball four. Peyton didn't want to walk, he wanted to get a base hit.

SPEAKER_09

This isn't the guy you really want to see at the plate when you got the base loaded. Uh JJ's such a contact hitter. He's gonna put the ball in play. Um very rarely does he strike out. We've talked about that. He sees the ball really well, he makes the pitcher work extra hard to get him out.

SPEAKER_06

Jonas Jensen heading out to courtesy run for Peyton Erickson. JJ Hope will step in. Crusaders lead this one 6-3, top of the fourth. Brody Schader would follow Hope at the plate. JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_09

You just want to stay out of the double play, and with his speed, you know, anything in the infield, you know, should should bring somebody in.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the first pitch. In there for strike one. No ball is one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Nice pitch on the inside corner.

SPEAKER_06

Kenneth checks the runner at third. Delivers.

SPEAKER_09

That's that should bring him in.

SPEAKER_06

That ball hit out to right field. Right fielder settles under it. Beck tags. Comes in from third. There we go. He scores the run. That makes a score seven to three Crusaders. Carroll advances to third. And Erickson.

SPEAKER_09

Great job by JJ. You did your job. I mean, sacrifice flyball. You know, baseball is such a funny sport. Everybody, you know, you think about average, you know, what did I hit today? It's these little things like that. You know, JJ, get up there, either hit a fly ball in the outfield or put something, you know, on the ground, use your speed to get to first base. Either way, we score a run. And that's his job, and he did it just perfectly.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it looks like we're gonna have a pitching change here for the Bulldogs. Brody Shaner, do up next. Let's go ahead and take a one-minute break. We'll be back.

SPEAKER_09

You're right. I thought it they had they did have one there and they just changed it.

SPEAKER_07

Now pitching for the Wullhogs. Number 10, Isaiah Tolzin. At the plate. Number 11, Brody Shaner.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, Lamar's kind of like this move. You want to keep the score close. We were obviously uh making great contact, you know, on the last pitcher, and and and he's got a nice nice curveball. He's trying to basically put out the fire here and try to keep his team you know within within distance of the Crusaders here.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch to Brody with strike one. No balls one strike. Dylan Knapp do up next. Jonas got a little too far down to second base. I think they were gonna try to sneak that run across.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, they they what they're I think they were gonna try doing a delay steal, double steal with, but Jonas should have probably done there as soon as he knew he was caught, run back to first base and got got himself in the middle.

SPEAKER_07

The pick, of course, two runs on two hits.

SPEAKER_06

That'll end the inning for the Crusaders. We'll go to the bottom of the fort. Crusaders lead 7-3. We'll be back in one minute.

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

We are back in Lamar's bottom of the fourth inning. Crusaders lead this one 7-3. The Bulldogs will send Jennery Dale and Pick to the plate field. To face Hayden Lefaver. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, a lot better job by Aiden with command of his pitches here in the last two innings. He's kind of really settled in after that first inning.

SPEAKER_06

He's got three strikeouts on the evening. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for a ball. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, not a bad pitch. You know, you got to know in one count. You're trying to get him to reach for something down low.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Aiden.

SPEAKER_09

That ball is hit long and foul. That's just that's just a uh that's just all that is, Mike, is a is a long strike.

SPEAKER_06

We'll take those.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. I mean, I think that thing cleared the fence, to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_06

I think that's the pitch. Oh. Oh, just missed. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Gorgeous pitch. That's almost an unhittable pitch. That's that slider on the outside corner. And that thing dipped.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Aiden.

SPEAKER_09

Oh.

SPEAKER_06

Just inside for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. Dale do up next.

SPEAKER_09

Both those pitches. I don't know how you lay off them.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Lefaver. That ball. Whoa! Chase back with the hops out there. Jumps up and snags that line drive. Out number one.

SPEAKER_09

You know, Mike, we've talked about Chase. Uh we've moved him over here to third base, which is nice, but he is such a sweet second baseman. I mean, he is really that's by far his most natural position over there.

SPEAKER_06

That's a vertical only you and I can dream of, John. There's another one lined over second base. Dylan Knapp fields it out in center field. Dale singles. Runner at first, one out. Bottom of the fourth inning. Crusaders lead seven to three. Pick steps in. He'll be followed by Clary.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, not a bad pitch by Aiden. Just kind of left it hanging a little bit. And uh, you know, he'll fix that. Keep that thing a little lower. Good good piece of hitting.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch. High ball one. One ball, no strikes. Just missed.

SPEAKER_09

Not a bad pitch. I mean, normally that's a tough one to you know to lay off of.

SPEAKER_06

Delivery by Lafavre. That ball hit out to JJ in short. Steps on second. Throws to first. There's the double play. Pitcher's best friend.

SPEAKER_09

There you go. Beautiful play by JJ. And rightfully so, Aiden went right over there and said, Thank you, young man. Got me out of this. This is the bottom of the fourth.

SPEAKER_06

That is out number three. Three up, three down for the Bulldogs. We'll head to the fifth.

SPEAKER_07

We'll be back in one minute before the Crusaders in the top of the fifth.

SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_06

We're back in Lamar's. We're headed to the top of the fifth inning. Crusaders lead this one 7-3. They will send Chiner, Knapp, and Gaswent to the plate. Chainer was at bat in the at the end of the last inning whenever Jonas was caught trying to steal second base.

SPEAKER_04

So he'll lead off this inning.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch. High for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Tolson with the wind up in the delivery. Say goodnight to it, folks. That one's gone.

SPEAKER_09

Holy camole.

SPEAKER_06

That was a no-doubter there. Home run for Brody Shaner.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely tagged that.

SPEAKER_06

That's the third home run of the night for the Crusaders. Two in this game, one in the first. Dylan Homered earlier in this game.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he saw that pitch all the way, and that was a no-doubter, Mike.

SPEAKER_06

That's what I that's what we've been waiting to see all night from him is to get a hold of one.

SPEAKER_09

Well, we said it early. If he gets the ball up in the ozone layer, things gonna go, and that thing that thing was out. So it's like a 90 mile an hour out of the ballpark.

SPEAKER_06

Surveys show that about 30% of the people believe in UFOs. I think that number went up just a little bit on that one because that was out there.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I've been waiting a long time to use that one.

SPEAKER_09

I'm trying to grasp that just a little bit, Mike.

SPEAKER_06

I'm reaching here, I know.

SPEAKER_07

Number 22, Dylan now.

SPEAKER_09

Oh man.

SPEAKER_06

Dylan steps in, having a good night at the plate. Good night on the mound in that first game. First pitch, ball one. Here's pitch. Another rip. Dylan ropes that over the shortstop's head. He is gonna hold it first base after a wide turn.

SPEAKER_09

You take away this first three at bats in that first game, you know, where he he just didn't look himself, and then he boom his last at bat. He strokes it. And his first three at bats here have been boom, boom, boom. I mean, he's just you can tell he's right back in his zone.

SPEAKER_06

Gaswent steps in. Struck out looking the first time. Popped out to the shortstop. His second time up. Dillon goes on the first pitch. He is in there. Ball gets past the second baseman. Shortstop backs him up. Dillon with the stolen base. First pitch to Nate was a ball. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

That was a good throw by the catcher. Second baseman brings that ball, that glove down before he had the ball.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, if he catches that, I think he's got it.

SPEAKER_09

I think he might have had him on that one. And again, Dillon had a great jump.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Low ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Aiden Lefaver do up next. Tolson takes a long look in, checks the runner at second. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Boy, he got a hold of that one. That's a deep. That's deep. They can't catch up to it.

SPEAKER_06

That ball bounces against the fence. Stand-up double for Gaswin. Dylan Knapp will score. That makes the score nine to three.

SPEAKER_09

Now what's more impressive with that one is that as Gaswin hit that thing to right center. Uh in between center field and right fielder. And that was a one bouncer to the fence. I mean, he hits that thing 20 feet to the left. That thing's out of here because that air catches up with that thing. Aiden Lefaver.

SPEAKER_06

No outs here in the top of the fifth. Crusaders lead 9-3. Aiden LeFavre steps in. He'll be followed by Beckett Blatchford.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I mean, we've we have really tagged him this inning.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Tolson. In there for strike one to Aiden. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

He really turned on as his last at bat. Drove that thing down the left field line.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Tolson. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

You know, Tolson throws about 70% curveballs. Obviously it's his go-to pitch. I mean, he leaves that thing just a little high.

SPEAKER_06

Checking the runner at second. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Beckett Blatford anxiously awaiting his turn at the plate after a home run last night in the JV game and roping a double down the first baseline in this game. Check of Nathan at second. Here's the pitch. Inside. Two balls, two strikes. No outs here in the top of the fifth inning. Crusaders lead 9-3.

SPEAKER_09

Chance to really break this thing open.

SPEAKER_06

Check of Gaswind. Here's the pitch. Just low for ball three. Three balls, two strikes. One half of the fan base was like, whoa, what was that? And the other was like, thank you very much.

SPEAKER_09

That's a tough one to lay off of, but I mean he's a tall fella, too. So his knees are a little bit higher than yours and mine, especially mine.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Well, that's a good job. Took that out of the catcher's mit.

SPEAKER_06

Late decision there to swing. Fouls it off. Over toward the Lamar's dugout. Count remains three balls, two strikes. Nathan Gas went at second base. Crusaders lead 9-3, top of the fifth. Here's the pitch by Tolson. Swing and a miss. Lefavre goes down on strikes. Good at bat there, though, by Aiden. That'll bring up Blatchford. He'll be followed by Beck.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, really good at bat. He's upset himself here a little bit. He liked to have that pitch back. Beckett, Blatchford. I think he knew the pitch that he was getting and he just missed it. Good pitch by uh Tolson.

SPEAKER_06

Runner at second for the Crusaders, one out. They've pushed two runs across in this inning. Looking for more. Pitch inside for a ball. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, it's I mean, very rarely does he throw a fastball. I mean, it's it's it's either a curve or a slider.

SPEAKER_06

Tolson deals with plate outside ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Beck. Do up next.

unknown

Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Delivery of the plate.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Oh, nice cut. Just got a piece of that one, fouled it off. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

He's got kind of a funky swing when he when he strides. But he catches up with it and he can cover the plate, which is just because that right foot goes way to the right, but he he leans with that bat.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_06

Laces that between short and third.

SPEAKER_04

Gaswent is gonna score from second.

SPEAKER_06

Beckett with the single.

SPEAKER_09

And that's exactly what I'm talking about there, Mike. That ball is in the outside corner. Beckett's foot, he he he actually strides away from the batter's box toward first base, but he ropes that thing down the left field. It's just incredible that he can reach that far across the plate. Nice piece of hit by Beckett.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I hope you don't find this a stretch after my UFO comment, but Blatford reminds me a little bit of uh Boog Powell with his build and the and the way he carries himself. And you've got to be really old to know who Boog Powell is.

SPEAKER_09

Well, actually, you know, I'm you got me visioning that, and and you're absolutely right.

SPEAKER_07

Hendrix Heat at the plate number 13, too.

SPEAKER_09

Oh man. I was I was gonna say, who's that the old twins player? Um used to put his socks all the way up to his knees. You know who I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_06

Killibrew? Yeah. Reminds me a little bit of him too, but he just yeah, he just can't he has that curly hair like Boog Powell had.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah, Killibrew and Boog Powell.

SPEAKER_06

Heat and pinch running for Blatchford. Oh that bounced over Clary's glove at shortstop. He was ready to make a play and try to turn a double play on that one.

SPEAKER_09

You know what? That's good for Chase. He's he Chase is obviously seeing the ball. He's making contact, good contact every at bat. Uh he's he's really come out of his bump tonight, man. He's had he stroked the ball really well.

SPEAKER_06

Brings Tommy Carroll to the plate. Runners at first and second for the Crusaders. Oh man, Tommy's 10-3 here in the top of the fifth. Tommy Homered in the first game.

SPEAKER_09

He just hit the ball hard, every at bat.

SPEAKER_06

One out here. Soft bouncer down to first base. Gets Beck. It's forced out at second for out number two.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he jammed him. He jammed him really good, got him off the handle of the bat. And uh nice slow roller to the first baseman that he could handle.

SPEAKER_06

Catcher number 12, Peyton Erickson. Brings Peyton Erickson to the plate. Runners at first and third with two outs. Crusaders lead this one 10-3. Be nice to get three more and hold the Bulldogs in the bottom of the inning and call it a game. Here's the first pitch by Tolson. Misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Erickson, the eighth batter in the inning. Tolson checks runner. First deals. Yeah. That pitch in there for a strike. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, if I'm coming up to bat here, this is what I'm listening for that curveball. I'm keeping my weight back and just teeing off on it because he's throwing it 80% of the time. And you're gonna get it. In in your at bat, you're gonna get that curveball at least twice.

SPEAKER_04

JJ Hope would be due up next.

SPEAKER_06

Carl at first, heat in the third, two outs. Crusaders lead 10-3. Here's the pitch. Just misses.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, inside. A little bit inside.

SPEAKER_06

Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, we got something on here. Uh I think we got a hit and run going. Pitcher knows it. We're over to first. Pitcher knows it. Has close play at first.

SPEAKER_05

Carroll able to get back.

SPEAKER_06

Tolson checks a runner first and third. Here's the pitch. Inside corner, two balls, two strikes, two outs, two on.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's that curve ball that comes. He throws it right at the at Erickson in the in the batter's box, and it just breaks right at the last minute. Cuts that inside corner. There we go. Now that's smart. That's what I'm talking about. Perfect.

SPEAKER_06

They've got Carroll in a rundown out there.

SPEAKER_04

But that's Heaton is able to score.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's a great job. That's exactly how you want to run that. That's what I was talking to you about with uh Jonas when he was running. Stop. Got two outs. They got to tag you. That run scores before they tag you. You know, that run counts.

SPEAKER_06

Healing pushes four across in the inning. In the inning, we head to the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders lead 11 to 3. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_19

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_06

Heading to the bottom of the fifth here in Lamar's.

SPEAKER_09

I don't know what what they said for the pitch count, but he had like 37 in the first inning. And I think he's only in the 50s or 60s in the four innings.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he's been he's been very efficient here the last couple of innings.

SPEAKER_09

I don't know what the um fires were meeting in between the innings and and and I don't know what the long discussion are talking to our coach about something.

SPEAKER_07

And the Bulldogs. Shortstop, number two.

SPEAKER_09

Long story short, the run counted, and 11-3 Crusaders going into the uh bottom of the fifth. And if you missed it, our girls came away with a sweep against the Lamar's girls. Back-to-back games.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch by Aiden in there for strike one.

SPEAKER_09

Nice pitch. No balls, one strike. I like that uh sometimes he dips that right elbow and it just it really is effective. Jeez.

SPEAKER_06

Swing and a miss by Clary for strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

That's one thing about the LeFavre boys, man. That that slider and that curveball just gets gets better and better as the game goes on.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Outside. To the backstop. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

That's a good waist pitch. Got him down 0-2.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch by Aiden. Outside again for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Wind up in the delivery.

SPEAKER_09

That's gonna be. Trouble.

SPEAKER_06

That ball is hitting on the first baseline. Yep, you gotta get it. Rolls to the fence. Clary's gonna go for three.

SPEAKER_10

See, that's a throw. Look at this. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my goodness. Are you kidding me? Nathan Gas went through that from the fence on no hops. And it was there in plenty of time. And everyone on our side is wondering how that was not an out. Did he? Wow.

SPEAKER_10

That ball was a bullet.

SPEAKER_06

That was that was Dave Parker Roberto Clemente arm right there. That was something else, folks.

SPEAKER_09

That ball was in the corner of the right field fence up against the turnaround three band on a dime to the third baseman.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, it was there a good five feet before the runner got there. Do not know. Well, I kind of know the umpire was behind the play, but first pitch in there, first strike. No balls, one strike to Copperwood. Peters to follow. Here's the pitch by Lefavre. Fouled off at the plate. No balls, two strikes. That was an arm, folks. I wish you could have seen that.

SPEAKER_09

Just got to battle back here. I mean this run means nothing, so just go after the batter.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Just missed. Ball one. One ball, two strikes. We are in the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders lead this one 11-3.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Aiden really wanted that pitch. That was right at the knees.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Outside ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I don't mind that pitch. He's trying to backdoor that curveball in the outside corner. Try to catch the black.

SPEAKER_06

Clary led the inning off for Lamars with a triple. Here's the pitch by Lefavre. Swing and a miss.

SPEAKER_09

Strike three. Yeah, good job, Aiden. Great job coming back.

SPEAKER_06

Out number one. Peters steps in. He'll be followed by McKinnis.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, through that through that pitch, right up at the numbers. Second baseman. Number four.

SPEAKER_07

Drake. Peters.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch. Bounces in there for a ball. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, great job by Peyton blocking that ball, keeping the ball in front of him.

SPEAKER_06

Again, we'll be on twice next week. The first is Wednesday against Harlan at four, and then we'll be home on Thursday against the North Stars.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that game against Harlan, that's a makeup game from earlier in the season that got rained out. Glad they got that thing rescheduled.

SPEAKER_06

The North doubleheader will be at four and six on Thursday. Pitch just misses outside. Ball three, three balls, no strikes. One out here in the inning.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, you gotta battle back here. Three and oh, you don't want to lose him.

SPEAKER_06

Here's pitch. Pitch is high for ball four. Peters walks. Puts runners at first and third with one out. That'll bring McGinnis to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he's last couple pitches, his release points been up a little high, which is causing that ball to kind of sail on him a little bit. Just needs to refocus, get his stride back, follow through with that pitch.

SPEAKER_07

Cutcher number five, Brett McGinnis.

SPEAKER_06

Lafaber with the long look in, checks runner at first, deals to the plate. Just misses ball one. One ball, no strikes. There we go. In there for strike one.

SPEAKER_09

He needed that.

SPEAKER_06

One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Get him to hit that ball on the ground. Gotta force out a second. Guy at third means nothing.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Just misses ball two. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

He's right in the zone. I mean, that's close. That's close. About knee high. Just maybe a little low, but not much.

SPEAKER_06

Deals. Just misses ball three. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, take a deep breath here. Three and one. It's a big this is a big out.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Oh, just misses ball four. That'll load the bases with Bulldogs. Back-to-back walks. That will bring Reaganitter to the plate. Gonna have a mound visit here.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, coach is gonna go out and talk to him a little bit, try to calm him down. He's not missed them by much. I mean, those things could be called strikes. I mean, they're right, they're borderline pitches, Mike. You know that.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, he hasn't missed by much.

SPEAKER_09

No, he's right around the zone. So let's coach going out saying, hey, let's get through this any. Or start at any base. Bring your bring third base, first base in if you want. I mean, you can go either way here, go for the double play up the middle, but third base can come in and maybe go home first.

SPEAKER_06

Mound visit is over. The umpire went out and said, okay guys, that's enough.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Reaganter will step in with the bases loaded.

SPEAKER_07

Baseman number six, Ben Reaganator.

SPEAKER_06

Crusaders lead 11 to 3, bottom of the fifth inning. Lamar's trying to push some runs across here. That first pitch to Reaganitter is a strike. No balls, one strike. Infield decides to come in. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_10

There we go.

SPEAKER_06

Bounce to JJ at short.

SPEAKER_04

There we go. Throw to first double play. What a play, folks. That will end the inning. And that's how you do it, boys.

SPEAKER_06

Bulldogs load them. Unable to push any runs across. We'll go to the top of the six. Crusaders lead 11-3. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_20

SPEAKER_06

Great way to end the bottom of the fifth inning with double play to get out of trouble. Yeah. Bulldogs had the bases loaded and able to get them to hit into double play to end the inning without any damage being done. Healin will send Erickson Hope and Shainer to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, great job by JJ. Um good opportunity to throw some of our sponsors in here from Catholic Radio, uh Bush Dry Cleaners, Catholic Charities, Central Bank, Two City, Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Home, CNOS Dr. Ryan Mead, Consulate Supply Company LLC, Culligan, Cyber Force Technology LLC, Dave Effin Real Estate LLC, Drilling Morningside Pharmacy, Dune's Dental for Kids, Empirical, FM Wealth Management Matt Lawler, and Folk Brothers, thank you for sponsoring Catholic Radio and Bishop Peeling Baseball.

SPEAKER_07

Leading off the top of the six. Number 12, Peyton Erickson.

SPEAKER_06

Peyton Erickson was at the plate to end the last inning whenever we had the run down out at second, and the run was able to score. So here's the first pitch to Peyton. Lays off that one. Ball one, one ball, no strikes. Top of the six, Crusaders lead, 11-3. JJ Hope, do up next. Yeah, that wind up in the pitch. Drops in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he throws. I mean, he's he's he's thrown him two curveballs. The chance of that throwing a third one here is pretty good. He's throwing about 80% of curveballs.

SPEAKER_06

Here's a pitch. Inside, just misses Peyton. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Just keep that way back, Peyton. He's been hanging it, so it's a good pitch to hit.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Three balls, one strike. JJ Hope do up next. And the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Just missed it.

SPEAKER_06

Fouled off out of play down the first baseline. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Hope do up. Shayner to follow. Shayner Homer is last time up.

SPEAKER_09

The wind's died down a little bit, but it's still blowing straight out of center. Maybe a little toward left.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball four.

SPEAKER_09

Nice, nice at bat.

SPEAKER_06

Peyton again, not happy he got a walk, but hey, buddy, you're on base.

SPEAKER_09

Doesn't matter how you get there.

SPEAKER_06

We're I am quite confident we'll have a courtesy runner. And it will be Jonas Jansen again.

SPEAKER_08

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Heading out there.

SPEAKER_07

Courtesy runner for the catcher. Number three, Jonas Jensen at the plate for healing. Number five, JJ Hope.

SPEAKER_06

JJ Hope steps in.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, the the transformation of JJ Hope at shortstop and at the plate this year is just it's it's really incredible. I mean.

SPEAKER_06

It's been fun to watch. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

It really, really has.

SPEAKER_06

In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, his his uh his patience at the plate.

SPEAKER_06

Pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, another rope.

SPEAKER_06

Bounces over the third baseman's glove out into left field. That'll put runners at first and second with no outs.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that was a hard hit.

SPEAKER_06

Brody Shaner will step in.

SPEAKER_09

Took a goofy bounce. You know, he didn't have time to get his body in front of it to try to knock it down, and one of those hops just right over the right over the glove.

SPEAKER_06

Brody Homered his last time up.

SPEAKER_07

Third baseman, number 11, Brody Shainer.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, but the transformation of JJ from second to shortstop. I mean, we've literally watched it just right in front of us. I mean, he's made several plays tonight.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch for hits that off the third baseman's glove. Not able to not able to tag everybody Jonas as he runs by, everybody's safe. So the Crusaders have the bases loaded with no outs. And that brings Dylan Knapp to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that was a hard hit. Would have been an extremely good play. He had no he really had no play but to try to go for the run.

SPEAKER_07

Center fielder number 22, Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_06

Not fielding it cleanly threw him off. Jonas was able to avoid the tag and load the bases.

SPEAKER_09

Well, here we go, Mike. Bases loaded, no outs.

SPEAKER_06

I mean. First pitch to Dylan.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, nice pitch.

SPEAKER_06

In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Tolson doesn't throw bad. I mean, he's got a nice curveball. Kind of keeps it high a little bit. I'd like to see him if he's gonna be more effective. He needs to get that curveball down a little bit more in the zone.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Dylan's got him right where he wants him.

SPEAKER_09

But we like it when he keeps it high because we're hitting the heck out of it.

SPEAKER_06

Nathan Gas went due up next. Rumbling around the bases, getting doubles all night long. Here we go.

SPEAKER_08

That one could be that could be caught at the fence by the center fielder.

SPEAKER_06

Jonas tags. He scores.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, good job. Nice sacrifice fly. And right as I said that, the winds died down. That ball's out an inning earlier.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Yeah, one inning earlier, folks, and we're talking grand slam home run for Dylan Knapp. Yeah, that'll bring Nathan Gaslin to the plate. Crusaders lead this one 12-3.

SPEAKER_09

Did his job. Mike got the ball up in the air, got a run in. Let's knock another one in here.

SPEAKER_06

Runners at first and second with one out. Pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

We can be out of here in six.

SPEAKER_06

Long look. That pitch high to Nathan. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Two guys on. Situation baseball. Just put the ball in play in high school baseball. You just gotta put the ball in play. Things happen.

SPEAKER_06

That center fielder is almost up against the fence out there. I see him.

SPEAKER_08

I mean he is He's deep. He is deep.

SPEAKER_06

He looks like he's ready to be the first one in the classroom tomorrow.

SPEAKER_09

He is. He's about at the warning track.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the windup in the pitch. Just misses. Three balls, one strike. One out. Runners first and second for the Crusaders. They lead this one 12-3. Trying to put an exclamation point on the night. Long look by Tolson. He deals. At pitch high. Ball four. That'll load the bases. That will bring up Aiden Lefaver.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, here you go, Aiden. Got an opportunity right here. Bases loaded. Got a couple RBIs out there. You can help yourself out here. Get a couple runs in and hold them, and we can go home early.

SPEAKER_06

Number 18.

SPEAKER_09

You kind of like that sound, don't you, Mike?

SPEAKER_06

Well, it's 9 45.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Bases loaded with Crusaders. 12-3, top of the sixth. That ball is laced out to right field. One run will score. Brody will be held at third.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, nice piece of hitting by Aiden. Inside out, right field. Beautiful.

SPEAKER_06

That makes a score 13-3, and that will bring Beckett Blatford to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, pinch runner here.

SPEAKER_06

Cal Geeesey going in for Aiden LeFaver.

SPEAKER_07

Courtesy runner for the pitcher, number one in Cal Gese. And here comes our favorite Blatford. Beckett!

SPEAKER_06

Come on, Boob Pal. You can do it, buddy.

SPEAKER_10

I just love this kid. What a great kid.

SPEAKER_09

I just would love to see him just connect and put that thing in orbit. Because when that ball comes off his bat, it's a rope. Every time he makes contact.

SPEAKER_06

He probably could have started in the sand lot, too.

SPEAKER_09

He could.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Outside ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he's definitely an old school looking player, isn't he? I love it.

SPEAKER_06

The only thing he needs to do is bring those stirrups up.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I'm going to talk to him about that.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Outside ball three. Base is full of Crusaders. No pace, no place to put young Mr. Blatchford.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, 13 to 3. Another insurance run would be nice so that uh Mr. Aiden uh Favor would come out and finish it.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_06

There he is. He ropes that out to right field. That's gonna score one. That's gonna score two. Two-run score on that.

SPEAKER_09

Great job of hitting by Beckett. He's he's seeing the ball really well, folks. And and I really to describe how that ball comes off the bat when he hits it, it's just like a rocket.

SPEAKER_06

Moravic is gonna pinch run for Boog Powell. I mean Beckett Blatchford. He's got a big smile on his face as he comes to the dugout. He's had quite a couple nights between JV and Varsity baseball here.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Hitting the ball well.

SPEAKER_06

Scores 15 to 3. Crusaders lead. We're in the top of the sixth inning. Second base in the middle.

SPEAKER_09

Speaking of hitting the ball well, I mean Chase. And it's been first pitch every time. He's just been just been teeing off.

SPEAKER_06

Beck steps in, still only one out. Here's the pitch. That's in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

When I say that, he lets that one go by him.

SPEAKER_06

Gesey at second. Moravic at first. Crusaders trying to add to their 15-3 lead here in the top of the six. Here's the pitch. He's not able to get to it. That is gonna load the bases. Again, the base is full of Crusaders.

SPEAKER_09

Great night. Is that a four-hit night for him?

SPEAKER_06

One, two, three. Yeah, he's got two triples and two singles.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Just in this game.

SPEAKER_09

That's what I mean. This game. What's he have from the last game?

SPEAKER_06

Well, well, let's go back. John, we got a couple seconds here while we have a break in the action. I think he's got like six. Last game, uh he is officially five for eight.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he's having a nice night. And he hit the ball well first game, got that hit.

SPEAKER_06

That'll drive the batting average up just a little bit.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_06

Bases loaded with Crusaders here in the top of the sixth inning. They lead this one 15-3. And we're gonna have a pitching change.

SPEAKER_09

And the guy you got coming up is probably the hottest hitter as far as making contact we have right now, Tommy Carroll.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_09

Got a chance to uh name off some more sponsors while we're waiting here. Um gotta find there where I left off here. Mike. Uh Drilling Morningside Pharmacy. Uh looks like that's gonna be Jackson Albred from Lamers. He'll step in and try to put out the fire. We've got bases loaded and one out for the Crusaders. We lead 15 to 3. And in case you missed it, our girdles, uh, Healan Bishop Bishop Healan Girls played uh in the field behind us um earlier tonight and swept the doubleheader. Second game was a thriller 7-6, and Lamars had two people on one out of the uh at the plate for the Crusaders, number eight, Tom, number 15, Zach Carpano. Yeah, Zach Carpineau comes in to pitch hit for Tommy Carroll. Good chance for uh for Zach uh to get in the books here tonight. Got bases loaded and uh one out. Mike stepped away for a little bit. He's back, and now turn its ball strikes right back over to Mike.

SPEAKER_06

First pitch to Zach. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Jonas due up next. Long look in. Wind up in the pitch. Nice pitch. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Jackson throws a nice one. It's got a nice, nice fastball. It's got some good velocity on it.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Caught looking for strike three. Yeah, nice pitch on the outside corner, knee high. Get another chance to see Jonas since he walked his first time we got to see him, so to see him make some contact this time.

SPEAKER_06

Jonas is gonna pitch hit for Peyton Erickson here. Yep.

SPEAKER_07

Adding number three, Jonas Jensen.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the delivery. That pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

Throwing four straight fastballs, just all four, right down the middle. I mean you gotta come up, you gotta come up swinging.

SPEAKER_06

It's a parade of pinch hitters. If Jonas gets on, it's gonna be Alex Rodriguez to be next.

SPEAKER_08

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. We uh top of the six. Crusaders lead 15 to 3.

SPEAKER_09

We've made uh Mr. Jackson here uh look like an ace, man. He's coming in and throwing five straight pitches, five straight strikes.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

I jinxed him. Good.

SPEAKER_06

Alright, keep it up.

SPEAKER_09

I know. I can see Jonas turn on one here.

SPEAKER_06

I'll see Jonas get a base hit here.

SPEAKER_05

Here's the pitch. Pitch is high for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Just took a little bit of me saying something about it, and two straight balls. Nice crowd out here tonight. I'm just they're still here. Uh Lamar's faithful and healing faithful coming out and watching some some baseball on a beautiful night.

SPEAKER_06

Lined up in the pitch. Inside, almost hit, and three balls, two strikes. Looks like Jonas's family is down here to our left trying to get some pictures of his at bat.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, this has got to be so exciting for them. Can't imagine what they went through here for a little while, wondering if he even played this summer.

SPEAKER_06

Full count, runners go.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He got him looking for strike three. That's the third out. Crusaders push four runs across in the top of the six. They lead this one 15-3. We'll be back in one minute for the bottom of the six.

We are back in Lamar's. We're headed to the bottom of the sixth inning. Crusaders lead this one 15-3. The Bulldogs will send Tolton, Jennery, and Dale to the plate. They'll need three runs to extend this game.

SPEAKER_09

Nice outing by uh Aiden Lefaver. He's done for evening. Um great job pitching. Did what again, just like Dylan Matt, he did what we're what he was supposed to do. Came in here, threw strikes, made let our defense make plays, got out of the got out of a couple downs. Um other than the first inning, uh was Bala.

SPEAKER_06

Yep, they've uh they've done a good job putting uh the Tuesday night. There's no other way to put it, Tuesday night debacle behind them.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And focused on moving forward in a positive manner going the rest of the way, and we'll see if they can continue this next week against Harlan and North.

SPEAKER_09

Absolutely. And uh Vickery out there.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Vickery's out there. Yep. And Tolson is gonna step in to take his chances against Mr. Vickery.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, he did a really nice job, and this is the second time we've got Jackson Vickery at the plate for the Bulldogs. Center fielder, number 10, Isaiah Tolzin.

SPEAKER_09

And great job he did in the first game coming in and getting out of that last inning.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch low for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Wind up in the pitch. Just misses ball two.

SPEAKER_09

Boy, I don't know where that one was.

SPEAKER_06

Two balls, no strikes. I don't think Peyton knew where it was either. I can tell by his reaction.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. You know, and in the end, he's called a good game. I don't want to say anything bad about the ump because he really has called a good game. Both these guys have.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, they've done a good job. Can't argue with that one. That was way over his head. Ball three, three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_09

We've actually got, I tell you what, we've actually seen some pretty good years for high school baseball.

SPEAKER_06

That pitch in there for a strike, three balls, one strike. Jennery do up next. He'll be followed by Dale.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, let's get out of this, Annie. Let's let's fight back here. Three-and-one.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes. Crusaders lead 15-3. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Jackson's ready to go.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_09

Hello.

SPEAKER_06

Tolls and walks. The Bulldogs have a runner at first, no outs. That will bring Jennery to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Gotta force out a second base. Left fielder, number nine, Jacob. You know, just throw strikes. Let's get out of this inning. Uh just pack it up and let's go home.

SPEAKER_05

First pitch fouled off.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, at that hit. That hit Peyton. Really good. Umpire smart. He's he's going out talking.

SPEAKER_06

He he's helping Peyton by walking out and talking to the pitcher, but he's walking like he's speed walking in the Olympic race or something. He needs to slow it down just a little bit.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Good job by the umpire recognizing that uh that Peyton got dinged a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

Could have given him a little bit more time to recover. He was like his number was called an In N Out burger. He was gonna go pick up his food. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_09

I just want to say maybe open that zone a little bit more this inning so we can go home.

SPEAKER_06

Vickery deals. Swing and a miss. Throw down to first.

SPEAKER_09

There we go. I like see seeing Peyton do that once in a while.

SPEAKER_06

One ball, two strikes. Good job by Mason over there.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Keeping that ball from getting out into right field.

SPEAKER_09

I like Mason at first base. Plays a nice first base over there.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Out number one. Tolson at first. One out for the Bulldogs here in the bottom of the six. That'll bring Dale to the plate.

SPEAKER_09

Well, I tell you what, Jackson. Jackson's got a little uh giddy up in his uh in his fastball in this second game. I think he's got a little more velocity than he did in the first game.

SPEAKER_06

Wind up in the pitch. Nice that pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Pick due up next.

SPEAKER_09

Let's get a nice routine double play here.

SPEAKER_06

Pitch, swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, keep that ball right there at the numbers. Threw that ball just right up at the chest. I think he throws that ball there again. He's gonna go for it.

SPEAKER_06

Pickory checks the runner at first.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, Pate's given the high high. Winds and deals. There it is.

SPEAKER_06

Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout number two in the inning.

SPEAKER_09

Same spot. Love that pitch. Great job.

SPEAKER_06

Two down for the Bulldogs. That'll bring Pick to the plate. He's the last chance for the Bulldogs.

SPEAKER_07

Third baseman, number seven, Cooper Pitt.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. Outside, ball one. One ball, no strikes. Clary do up next. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. One ball, one strike. Two outs. Crusaders lead 15 to 3. We're in the bottom of the six.

SPEAKER_09

He can't hold off on that high fastball. Like just give him another one here.

SPEAKER_06

Here's the pitch. That hit out to center field. Dylan Knapp tracks it down. That's out number three. That will end the game, folks.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan at great jump.

SPEAKER_06

Crusaders win this one 15-3. Great job in the doubleheader tonight by Bishop Healing. Hitting, fielding, pitching. Oh my gosh. All around great performance by this baseball team tonight.

SPEAKER_09

I couldn't be more happier, Mike, with this group of guys after going through the other night against East. They could have come in here feeling sorry for themselves. You know, the woe is me, so to speak. They didn't. They came in, they gathered themselves and got great pitching performances from Dylan Knapp, Nadin LeFavre, and a great job closing them out by Jackson Vickery in both games.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, we uh we got to see some some well-struck balls, some well-hit balls. We got to see a few home runs tonight. We knew that was gonna happen based on the way the wind was blowing when we got here. And uh great great bounce back by the Crusaders. Absolutely. Uh but they've got to continue to build on it. They've got a tough Harlan team next Wednesday, and then they've got to face north the next day at a double header.

SPEAKER_09

So I'm not sure. Now I are we on the road Tuesday? Do we do we have a double header Tuesday?

SPEAKER_06

They're on the road.

SPEAKER_09

So they got six game or five games next week then. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

They're gonna be busy next week, but yeah, uh we'll we'll see how they can come through next week and and continue to finish the rest of the season out. And we appreciate everybody out there listening. Uh keep supporting Catholic Radio. Grace Todd, another fantastic job on your part. We appreciate all that you do.

SPEAKER_09

Thank you, Grace, and thank you, Mike, for letting me uh join you one more time and to bring our voices uh into the living rooms of all you guys out there listening to us on Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_06

We will talk to you folks next week on Wednesday at 3 45 from Bishop Mueller Field. Have a great weekend, and we'll see you then.

SPEAKER_21

It does not attach the penalty of Lati Sententii exclamation.
