SPEAKER_13

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to Bishop Mueller Field. I am Mike Skaggs. I will be joined by John Tritz here shortly. We are getting ready for the matchup between the number five ranked Healan Crusaders and the 13th ranked Harlan Cyclones. Healand comes into this game with a record of 17 and 7. They're 14-4 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. Winners four of their last five. Harlan comes into this game with a record of 11-6. And we are looking forward to a great game. Should be a lot of excitement. These two teams met last year in the playoffs, and Healing came out victorious and was able to go on to play in the state tournament here at home in Sioux City. And looking forward to another great matchup. On the mound for the Crusaders will be Aiden LeFavor. He's got a record of two wins, no losses. Teams are batting 245 against him. He has given up 23 hits, 10 runs, nine of those earned. He's walked seven batters, he's hit four batters, he struck out 21 and has an ERA of 2.62. On the mound for Harlan will be Jonas Reynolds. He comes into this game with a record of 2-0. Teams are batting 186 against him. He's given up 13 hits, six runs, three earned, walked four batters, hit four batters. He struck out 23, so we could see a lot of strikeouts tonight between these two pitchers. And his ERA is 1.09. And John Tritz has jumped in the booth. Welcome, John.

SPEAKER_04

Hey Mike, sorry guys. Had to give our announcers uh another lineup there, so had a little bit of a delay. Looking forward today, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, it should be a fun time. Uh both these teams are uh doing really well. They're they've been playing well here lately and and looking forward to seeing what uh young Aiden LeFavre can do against a team like Harlan.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, coming off a couple nice wins uh yesterday. Uh the kids pretty fired up. We got LaFavre going today, and then uh Knapp uh and Gaswin going tomorrow. So uh three games Tuesday, Wednesday, or excuse me, Wednesday, Thursday, coupled up with the two yesterday. I mean, five games in three days, that's a that's a lot of arms uh and a lot of baseball.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, they well, they did that a few weeks ago, and uh turned out to be an up and down week for them, but uh they got through it, and and this is another good test. Uh give it an opportunity for some young arms to get in there and and get some game experience.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and I think Harlan's throwing their their top guy here today, um, either one or two. And I I wasn't sure what Coach uh Jacob Wesselman, you know, said if he was number one or two, but we're gonna see their one of their top pitchers. They're ranked 13th in in three in uh excuse me in four uh 4A and coming out of the Atlantic 10. This is gonna be a great con this is gonna be a great matchup.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, there's they're they're gonna be tough, no doubt. It anytime Healing and Harlan meet uh on the basketball court, baseball field, football field, wherever, it's it's always a tough match.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely, yeah. I mean, and you know what, they're long trip here, they don't want to make that for not. I mean, that's you get on those long bus trips, and if you're gonna take those long bus trips, you want to make them worth it.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, you don't you don't want to waste any any opportunities to to get some wins and position yourself for a good seating when it comes to state tournament time.

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_13

Let's go ahead and take a two-minute break, and we'll be back with more of today's game and the starting lineups.

Hello, listeners. I'm Father Travis Crotty, the chaplain of Bishop Healen Catholic High School. As we prepare for this athletic competition with the Crusaders, we want to take an opportunity to offer a pregame prayer, keeping in mind the safety and the enthusiasm of all sporting events for the safety of our own students and those of our opponents. Let us pray in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Thank you, listeners, and go, crusaders.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back to Bishop Healing Baseball, everyone. John, uh, what are some keys to the game from both coaches today?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I had a had a chance to talk to both coaches. Coach uh Heath Stein of the 13th ranked uh Harlan uh community school, the Cyclones, 11-6 on the season. Uh he's got tough hitters, as he puts it, one through six, with Schneider being their best athlete. And Schneider hitting 375, 471 on base percentage, and a 589 slugging percentage. He leads the Cyclones in almost every category. The key for him uh and for and for Harlan is to make contact early base runners and then and play situation baseball. Get the guys on, move them around, they're not afraid to play small ball. And um the pitcher he's got going today uh is tough. He keeps the ball around the zone. And he just said if we can keep the ball in the zone, keep it low, um make them hit ground balls, we got a chance to win today. Also, got to give a shout out. He said his wife Liz is listening. Uh so Liz, um we're giving you a shout out from Coach Stein. Um for the Crusaders. Uh Caleb Lefavre throwing. Uh keeps the ball around the zone. And basically, he needs to just keep doing what he's doing. In and out. Don't try to overpower them. Get them to chase balls on his slider and make, you know, get them to hit the ground balls, you know, so we got some great fielders on the infield. Make let them make the plays. Our outfielders, we know what they can do, uh, etc. Um looking at their crusaders, Mike, and I know you talked about it earlier, but JJ Hope leading the team, um, other than Caleb Lefavre, who's not with us, with a 370 batting average, a 448 on base percentage. He leads the Crusaders in runs uh uh and hits and um just about every category. We know when he gets on, we move him. And he scores generally when he gets on. And the same thing with the bottom of our order, which has gotten huge with Dylan Knapp. Dylan Knapp has come way up on his batting average, gets on, and again, another one when he gets on, we generally score because we're able to move him. Nathan Gaswin brought his batting average, he's almost hitting 300. Key. We talked about it earlier in the year, the bottom of the lineup. When they start producing, we're gonna be dangerous, and we are, and we're a dangerous team, especially a dangerous hitting team.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, absolutely. They've uh Dylan's been doing such a good job hitting the ball, he's moved all the way from the bottom of the order up to cleanup. Yeah, let's go ahead and get the starting lineups here for let's start with Harlan. We'll start with bat leading off will be Fox Hargett Singer, he'll be playing center field. He comes in with a batting average of 310. Batting second, playing shortstop, Colton Schneider comes in with a batting average of 375. Batting third, Harrison Kiergaard playing right field, batting average of 315. Batting fourth and pitching, Jonas Reynolds comes in with a batting average of 321. Batting fifth and playing second base will be Cade Nelson. He's got a batting average of 250. Batting sixth and playing third base, Jake Spangenberger, batting average of 316. Sorry, folks, I had to watch uh John Flannery throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and he bounced it wide and outside, so he's not going to be a reliever today. Batting seventh will be Joe Gross playing right field. He comes up with a batting average of 241. Batting eighth and then designated hitter will be Gavin Eck. He's got a batting average of 267, and he will be DH'ing for Charles Hoffman, who is at first base. And batting ninth for the Harlan Cyclones will be Barrett Kaufman. He'll be catching, batting average of 190. For the Crusaders, leadoff JJ Hope playing shortstop, batting average of 370. Batting second, playing left field, Tommy Carroll, 317 batting average. Batting third, Brody Shaner, 362 batting average. He'll be at first base today. Batting fourth, Dylan Knapp, 352 average playing center field. Batting fifth will be Peyton Erickson catching, batting average of 262. Batting sixth, Nathan Gaswent playing right field. He's got a batting average of 293. As John said, Aiden LeFavor is on the mound. He comes in with a batting average of 233. And DHing it will be Arod. He's got a batting average of 333. And he will be DHing for Cal Geezy, who actually leads the state in hitting with the 1,000 percentage batting average. But Cal will be at second base. And batting ninth and playing third base will be Chase Beck. He's got a batting average of 286.

SPEAKER_04

Chase Beck. We saw him up in Lamar's quite a week ago, Mike. And what a great job, Chase Beck. I mean, he had a night. What did we say? I think he was what five or six for nine against Lamar's. Just really came out of whatever funk he was in and and brought his batting average all the way, I think, all the way up into the high 200s. Um let me double check here. 286, Mike. And the job that Tommy Carroll uh has been doing, uh, we got to talk about that. I mean, we saw him at Lamar's was absolutely in a zone. For those of you that that weren't up there, everything he hit, even the ones that got caught, were right on the barrel. And the home run he hit was a no-doubter.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, that's true. And it was it was that way for a lot of Crusader batters up in Lamar's. Yeah. Uh they hit the ball hard, and we got to see several home runs. Uh Dylan Knapp had one as well.

SPEAKER_04

And it it that was well the Schaehner one was still in orbit, I think, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, and that uh that was a good way to end the week after the way the week started against these tie black Raiders. So it was good to get back on the on their winning ways. And uh unfortunately Friday they played Johnston, and uh that was a 15 to nothing loss. But it the games like that are are games that they'll learn from and they'll get better. We're gonna pause for the national anthem. Let's take a two-minute break and we'll be back.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

National anthem just ended, and Aiden Lefaver is getting ready to start his final warm-up pitches. Any words of wisdom, John?

SPEAKER_04

This is a great day. It's a beautiful day. The wind's kind of it was howling earlier. Um it's it's blown out uh from left to center field uh for the Crusaders. Let's just play Crusader baseball. Um Crusaders ranked uh fifth in the latest poll, and and the Cyclones ranked 13th. That's gonna be a great matchup. Looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_13

Should be. The Crusaders are in all white, white tops, short sleeve tops with navy blue undershirt. They've got the stripe down the side, and Crusaders across the chest in blue. Harlan is in black tops, white striped pants, red caps, and we are gonna be ready to go here shortly.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, these uniforms look so sharp, these white uniforms with the blue sleeve. It's just I mean, it's just old school baseball. I'm trying to look to see who's got their stirrups up today. JJ, uh Cal. Cal Brody.

SPEAKER_03

Brody.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, they they know it's all about. Yeah, except for the colors. Uh the healing uniforms today remind me of uh ones that North Carolina won the other or wore the other day in at the College World Series. And yeah, uh they are currently up 12 to 6 in the bottom of the eighth against West Virginia. If they win that one, they're gonna be playing game one of the championship series on Saturday.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they look good the other day. I watched I had a chance to watch them. You know. Anybody that's watched the movie Field of Dreams, that's what our uniforms look like. They look like the guys are just come right out of the cornfield.

SPEAKER_13

I got to see uh young man hit for the cycle in Omaha on Monday.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's right. You were down at the ball game. Uh that kid had a game, man.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he did. He didn't have one yesterday, but he had one the day before. Argent Singer steps in from the left side, fouls that first pitch off for strike one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they weren't gonna get you know that and he didn't even know he hit the cycle because initially they only gave him a single on that hit. So that was pretty cool.

SPEAKER_13

I'd like to give a shout out to Corey Westra. He is gonna get the prize for the long distance listener for the season because no one's gonna be able to touch this one. He's in Switzerland.

SPEAKER_04

Holy come on listening to the game. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_13

Thanks, Corey. Appreciate you and all you do for uh sports in Sioux City, the NAI tournaments and the G Pack, and uh looking forward to working with you on the Iowa Vanderbilt women's game that's coming to the Tyson Event Center here later this year. No balls, two strikes to count. My favorite and the wind up in the pitch, that's outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Now, one thing about Caleb, uh he does not act or look like a typical eighth grader that's thrown. He's very confident, he's got very good control of his pitches, and he's extremely good on inside, outside uh with his slider and his fastball.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he he's got really good movement, like you said. He doesn't uh he's a freshman now. No longer an eighth grader, so he's all grown up. That pitch fouled off. Two balls, two strikes is the count. It's 11 p.m. in Switzerland right now. Well past Corey's bedtime, but he said he would listen.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe he's had a couple beers, so hopefully he's sitting back enjoying.

SPEAKER_13

He said he'd listen for a couple minutes before he got his beauty sleep. Here's wind up in the pitch. Oh, nice. Just outside for ball three. Full count on Arget Singer.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Argusinger's really made him work, but I mean the balls that he that he's made contact with, he's had to chase. Here's the pitch. Yeah, I listen to it. He caught him looking strike three. Beautiful pitch on the outside corner, and that caught the black. There's no question about it. Great call by the umpire.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, Argus Singer didn't agree, but it doesn't matter what he thinks, it's what the umpire thinks, and that'll bring Colt Schneider to the plate. Good start there for young Mr. Lefaver.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Good luck to his brother who's out in Arizona at the moment, and I'm sure getting ready for the combine. And Jeff, if you guys are listening, uh good luck from everybody out here.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. You got wonderful family, uh great values, and just nothing but prayers and hoping for success for young Caleb.

SPEAKER_13

Quickly, no balls, two strikes on Schneider.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he didn't waste any time. He came over the top of that loop around the first pitch for a strike, and uh then a slider on the outside corner for strike two.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch high for ball one, one ball, two strikes. Kiergar, do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Something's going on over there. There's a glove or something in the way. Umpire stop play. Here we go.

SPEAKER_13

My favorite deals and the pitch. JJ with the great stop over there, not able to make the throw to first. That would have been a tough out to get anyway. So Schneider reaches on the single. That'll bring Kiergar to the plate, and Reynolds will be due up next.

SPEAKER_04

You know, right off the bat, we see the range of JJ Hope. I mean, that ball in all likelihood should have been out in left field, and his first step is absolutely incredible.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he's got great quickness on the base pass and in the field. Favorite checks the runner at first and deals to the plate. That ball hit out to Hope at short. Over to Geezey in second. Not able to turn the double play, but they get the lead runner for out number two.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, nice little roller to JJ. Almost had a shot at him. Good turn by Geezey, and just couldn't get couldn't get the ball there in time. Beat him by a butt of step.

SPEAKER_13

That will bring Reynolds to the plate. He'll be followed by Cade Nelson.

SPEAKER_04

You mean we talk about JJ Hope. Uh sorry, Mike, I throw over the first by Aiden. I talk about JJ Hope and the multi-sports uh athlete that he is, and I'm not so sure this isn't his best one.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Yeah, he's uh last time he's solid out here. Yeah. Aiden Deals at pitch outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Dad might disagree with me, might say hockey, might say football, but but let me tell you, the kid's a ball player through and through.

SPEAKER_13

Long look in and the pitch. Nice pitch. Swing and a miss, strike one. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

You know that that's his fastball. It's got a little tail on it on the outside corner, caught the black, and really got him chasing.

unknown

Yeah. I mean, it was such a shame because that wasn't the same first.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch by Aiden off the plate. Three balls, one strike. Tried to come back with the same pitch. Sometimes you get games that two outs here in the top of the first, just getting started. Scores tied 0-0. Oh that was a good throw over. Good move by Aiden. Almost had him on that one.

SPEAKER_04

I'm not so sure he didn't get him on the shoulder coming down, Mike. That was a great, great throw over the first.

SPEAKER_13

Runner goes. He is in there safely. Kiergaard with the stolen base. He's down at second. And the count is full on Reynolds. Three balls, two strikes, two outs. Runner at second base. No score.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, coach. Coach Stein said they'd be aggressive, and sure enough, there they are.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. Hit off Aiden's leg. JJ Hope scoops it up. Throws over to first. Your your normal your normal 1-6-3 out there to end the inning.

SPEAKER_03

You know, I think that ball might have got through if it didn't hit him.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, it would have. That retires aside for Harlan in the top of the first. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back. We head to the bottom of the first inning. Crusaders are tied with Harlan 0-0. We will send Hope, Carol, and Shayner to the plate to get things started.

SPEAKER_04

Gotta say a shout out to our head coach, Jacob Wesselman, uh, over the weekend. Got engaged to his girlfriend, Faith Trasinski, uh, who is the assistant basketball coach out at Morningside College from Manson, Iowa. Congratulations, coach. Planning on a late summer wedding next year, it sounds like. I miss those guys.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to JJ. Yeah. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.

unknown

And uh coach is talking to me here.

SPEAKER_13

Reynolds working fairly quickly. Here's the pitch. That's behind JJ's head for a ball. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

JJ's gotta learn how to just turn his back like those East High kids do and get hit in the shoulder.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, lean out over that plate, stick your arm out there, whatever you gotta do. Here's the pitch. Just high for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, good eye by JJ.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds throws well. Um nice curveball. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch is outside. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's uh he's two and oh on the season. Um teams are only hitting 186 against him. He's got a 1.09 ERA. So uh this is this this is their ace, guys. So we're seeing him. There's the pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Nice fouled off into the net down the right side for strike two, brings account full.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they got Lewis Central tomorrow. Okay, you know, I mean, which is a conference game. So this is what how they value this game. They're they're bringing number one against us and number two uh against uh Lewis Central tomorrow.

SPEAKER_13

And we'll see that Lewis Central team later in the season. Yep. Wind up in the pitch. Swing and a miss for out number one. Well, that's rare. You don't see him strike out very often. No, you don't. He has only struck out JJ is only he's only struck out eight times this year. So that'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. Brody Shaner will follow. Tommy swinging a hot bat. Wind up in the pitch. Outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Reynolds kept that thing low on the outside corner, just missed.

SPEAKER_13

Tommy's got ten walks on the season, been hit by a pitch three times, and he's only struck out six times. So another one that sees the ball really well.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's he's just been swinging such a hot bat. And uh I'm hoping he got a brand new one because he broke it up at Lamar. So let's see what this one has in it.

SPEAKER_13

One ball, one strike. Here's a pitch. There we go. That gets past the third baseman, shortstop, makes scoops it up, not able to make the play over there. Carroll reaches with on the single. That'll bring Schainer and Dylan Knapp will be due up after Brody.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, great job by Tommy Carroll. Good piece of hitting. Got it between third and short. Great play by Schneider. You know, he got showed his range and quickness getting getting rid of the ball.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, that was good range. Good good job keeping that ball from getting to the outfield. Long look. Gotta drop that bat. First pitch in there behind him. For ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds is trying to come on the inside corner with that curveball. He just cannot get that thing to break. Um and I'm sure he would like that. That's that's a pitch he's gonna need.

SPEAKER_13

Checks runner at first, outside for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Tommy Carroll down at first base, one out here in the bottom of the first. Crusaders and Harlan tied 0-0.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds has a he has a quick release to home and a s and he short arms it so and the pitch, that pitch way outside for ball three.

SPEAKER_13

Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, don't want to put this guy on with uh hot hit hot hitting Dylan Knapp coming up next.

SPEAKER_13

Chuck's a runner at first, deals that pitch in there for strike one. We're gonna have to hesitate after every close pitch because this umpire's got a delayed deliberate strike.

SPEAKER_04

I can kind of hear him. If I open the window a little bit, I can probably hear him because he yells it out before he does the signal.

SPEAKER_13

Chuck's a runner at first, deals to the plate. Outside for ball four. Shayner draws the walk, puts runners at first and second with one out, and that'll bring the hot-hitting Dylan Knapp to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think Reynolds like that. Second to the last pitch. I think he thought that should have been a strike. Kind of giving the ump a little look, but that was high. I don't I don't know what he was. Maybe he's just mad at himself.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan steps in here to see if he can get that first run across for the Crusaders. That pitch inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. It's that looper.

SPEAKER_04

He's getting it a little bit closer. Trying to a little curveball over the top on the inside corner.

unknown

It's one of those things where it's a big thing.

SPEAKER_13

Two on, one out. Dylan Knapp at the plate. Check Shayner at second in the pitch. That pitch is way outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, this is great situation. Baseball right here. I mean, you got guys on first and second, two and oh. Your pitchers thinking, you know, I mean, small ball.

SPEAKER_13

Uh here's the pitch. That's that pitch is driven deep. Left fielder back, he settles under it. Brody tags second, slides safely into third. Extremely well-hit ball there by Dylan Knapp. Just short of the warning track for out number two.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that ball's hit uh about an hour earlier. That thing's gone with that win, but that wind's died down.

SPEAKER_13

Carroll at third. Shayner at first, two outs. Peyton Erickson steps in with a chance to drive in a run here. Checks Carroll at third and deals. Outside, ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Dylan really uh connected on that ball. Got all of it. Just missed.

SPEAKER_13

Really not worth covering second base out there. I don't know. Expect Brody to go here pretty soon. That pitch outside, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I don't think he's gonna give him anything good to hit here, Mike, with with uh with gas one coming up, but I mean you got a hot hit and gas one too coming up.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah rippling out there.

SPEAKER_04

Oh hit him. Must have hit the end of the bat.

SPEAKER_13

Must hit the end of the bat. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, I thought that thing hit him in the elbow, but it hit him in the uh on the barrel or on the uh handle.

unknown

There was not a big thing.

SPEAKER_13

No argument for Peyton, so it must have been the right call. Here's the pitch. High for ball three. Three balls, one strike. Gas went due up next. Should he get on and extend the inning? It'd be Aiden Lefaver.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds still can't find that curveball, still can't get that thing across for strike.

SPEAKER_13

Checks a runner at third, looks at the plate. Here's a pitch. Way outside, ball four. That'll load the bases. Bases full of Crusaders brings up Nathan Gaswent. Hitting the ball well lately and upped his batting average to 293.

SPEAKER_04

You know, he really does a good job of inside out uh hitting Mike and bringing that those fists through the plate, followed by the barrel. A lot of his balls go to right field. Very rarely do we see him pull the ball down the line or to left field. Um he just does a great job of staying back and taking that thing to right field. Fast fastballs and curve balls both. He he does a great job just keeping his weight back.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, it's obvious he's been working on uh hitting at practice. So he steps in from the right side, looking to put a run or two on the board here for the Crusaders in the bottom of the first. No score.

SPEAKER_04

He's got a great opportunity to open it up here. First inning.

SPEAKER_13

Long look in. Here's the pitch. Inside ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds having just a little trouble finding the zone, and and uh he's either high, high and in uh or or low and outside. That's a good pitch there on the outside corner. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_13

Well, favor due up next. Taking his time here. Here's the pitch. Low for ball two, two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, Reynolds really short arms it. He's got a quick release home and and really aims the ball where he's throwing. Steps off. Doesn't like the pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. That's high. Three balls, one strike. Base is full of crusaders. There's no place to put him. Nope. Walks as good as he hit here. Bring in a run.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, one thing Gaswin is a pretty patient kid.

SPEAKER_13

There we go. Hit that right past shortstops glove. That'll score Tommy Carroll. Crusaders lead this one one to nothing. Base is still loaded. And Aiden Lefaver will step in. Really has a chance to help himself out.

SPEAKER_04

Extremely patient by Gaswin. Quick, quick wrist, Mike, because he waited till the last minute to swing. And actually he took that ball to left field. Great job pulling the ball in between them.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, everything we said he doesn't do, he did on that one. So have a conversation with that young man when the game's over.

SPEAKER_04

He's got such quick rest.

SPEAKER_13

Long look in and the pitch. First pitch to Aiden high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Aiden really has a chance to help himself out here with a base hit. There's a wind up in the pitch. Right field going back. Settles under it and makes the catch for the third out. Crusaders leave three stranded. They're able to get one run across. We'll go to the top of the second. Crusaders lead one to nothing. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader sport on your Catholic Radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back. We head here to the top of the second inning. Crusaders lead one to nothing. Harlan will send Kate Nelson, Jake Spangenberg, and Joe Gross to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Now we have an opportunity to acknowledge some of our underwriters and sponsors for Bishop Healing Baseball Catholic Radio, the Bargain Center, Barclay Asphalt, BCU Catholic Connection Scholarship, Bob Rose Point After and North End Zone, Bush Dry Cleaners, Catholic Charities, Central Bank, Sioux City Storm Lake, and Christy Smith Funeral Homes. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_13

Nelson steps in from the left side to face Aiden LeFaver.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, Reynolds is sure glad to get out of that inning with only giving up one run. We had some opportunities there.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, we had an opportunity to blow that open. First pitch to Nelson outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. That pitch hit past the diving Cal Geezy. Gets under Gaswin's glove out in the outfield. He retrieves it. Nelson into second. That will bring up Spangenberg.

SPEAKER_04

Gaswin came up and he just one of those oops just pulled his glove up and the ball kept rolling.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he came up ready to throw, and can't throw if you don't have the ball. That'll bring up Jake Spangenberg.

SPEAKER_04

Here's some situation baseball for Harlan now. I mean, got a guy on second. See what coach does here.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. Just inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Crusaders lead this one one to nothing here in the top of the second inning. Harlan has a runner at second with no outs. Here's the pitch. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

He's trying to throw the curve ball there, and it just he just lost the grip. I mean, if you were watching his hand there, you could tell he just lost a grip at the last second. Good job by Peyton to corral that thing.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch by Aiden. Just high for ball three. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Now we've seen Aiden get himself in a behind on the batters. Usually does a really good really good job of uh of coming back and working his way back in.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Yeah. That pitch in there for a strike. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Nice little slider on the inside corner. I mean, that that's his go-to pitch.

unknown

The favor has had more of the things.

SPEAKER_13

Need an out here. Here's the pitch. That's it out to gas. Went in right field, settles under it. And not surprisingly, he one hops it into third base. Not quite as impressive a throw as as last week, but it was a one hopper to third base. That'll bring Joe Gross to the plate. Cade Nelson at second. There's one out here.

SPEAKER_04

I'm gonna be honest with you, Mike. You and I go the next ten years of announcing games, and we may never see a throw that good that we saw the other night up on the marsh in the corner.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he was in the corner of the right field fence and was put into third base on a rope. And I still say the runner was out, but here's pitch. JJ Hope with the diving stop.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_13

Another great play by JJ. Nelson's able to advance to third, and Gross is on first base. So runners at first and third for Harlan with one out here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's too bad, Chase. I mean, I mean, the natural instinct is for Chase to go to his left, but if he stays put and goes over to third, I think we have him.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, that would uh that would have been the natural place to go.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Great job by JJ keeping that ball in. That's a run if he doesn't knock it down.

SPEAKER_13

Designated hitter Davin Eck steps in to face Aiden. Here's the pitch. Swing. Strike one. No balls, one strike. Barrett Kaufman do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Good high curve ball. Slider, I should say. Keep that ball up there. Keep it up by up there right by his fist. He's gonna go for it.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. Just outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Nelson at third, gross at first. One out here. Top of the second inning. Crusaders currently lead one to nothing. Aiden with the long look in, delivers. Nice pitch. That had even with my eyes, I can see that had a lot of break to it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that was just kind of took some speed off that. Uh looked almost a little bit more like a curveball than a slider, but had a little more of a slider dip to it. And he took a little velocity off it. Checks the runner at first, deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_13

Tried the same pitch there.

SPEAKER_04

Two balls, two strikes. Yeah, smart move coming back. I mean, you got him chasing on the last one. I'd come back with it again here. You get him 2-2. You got to get in his head here a little bit. He's probably thinking he's not going to come back with it again. I'd come right back with it.

SPEAKER_13

The pitch. Gross goes. That ball lined over JJ Hope out at short. That'll score Nelson from third. Tie this game up one-to-one. And the Cyclones have runners at first and second with one out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, good pitch by Aiden. Got him on the fist, but he had just enough power to get that ball over JJ's head.

SPEAKER_13

Barrett Kaufman will step in, see if he can drive another run across and give the Harlan Cyclones the lead here.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, this would be a good job for I mean Aiden. Let's get the manufacture of ground ball and get a double play out here. Nice bunt.

SPEAKER_13

There's a bunt. Aiden fields it. And not able to get it to first base in time. So Kaufman will reach on the infield single bunt, and that'll load the bases for Harlan. Arget Singer will step in. He's heading out to the mound to talk to Aiden and settle him down just a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a gorgeous bunt. I mean, you know, it's got to be fielded a little quicker with a little little quicker release. But I that was a bang banger, and and he and he put the bump perfect. You know, third baseman's covering third. Uh he's not coming up, and and so just a tough play by Aiden. He's just settling them down here. Got to force out at any bl any base.

SPEAKER_13

So Argot Singer struck out looking his first time up. Here's the pitch by Aiden. Beautiful play by Geecey. Hit over Caleb's head, or Aiden's head, I'm sorry. And that scores gross from third. Eck advances to third. And Kaufman is out at second base. Argett Singer reached on the fielder's choice. So we've got runners at first and third, two out. Harlan leads this one two to one. We're in the top of the second. Argett Singer goes before Aiden ever starts his wind up. So he's down at second base.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, let's go back to Argent Singer's uh hit. You know, a one bouncer. Just and that was a uh a big bounce because Aiden's a tall kid and it got the ball over Aiden's head, but great play by Geecey to second base.

SPEAKER_13

Oh that pitch breaks in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That thing had some serious dip. I mean, that thing looked like it was gonna hit him and then broke in at the last minute.

SPEAKER_13

Kiergaard is on deck. Aiden with the long look in, and he ready to deal. Here's the pitch. Bounced over pitcher's mound again. That'll score.

SPEAKER_04

Got to play it home.

SPEAKER_13

That'll score two runs. That brings the score to four to one. Harlan here in the top of the first. And Schneider is on with the two RBI single, and that'll bring Kiergaard to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, just a beautiful hit right up the middle. Again, just another ball, ground ball hit over Aiden's head on a bouncer that got through the infield.

SPEAKER_13

Long look in and the pitch. That is hit between third and short. Kiergaard with the single, and Schneider advanced to second. Runners at first and second. Two outs for Harlan here in the top of the second, and they pushed four runs across in this inning to lead four to one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Aiden just got to keep his composure here. Take a deep breath. Let's get out of the inning. Keep this, you know, at four runs, and then just start nipping back at it.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, there's uh there's a lot of baseball left. Here's the pitch. Knight hit right back at eight, and he snags it, throws over to Shayner at first for the third out. That will retire the side. Harlan is able to push a run, push across four runs in the inning. They lead four to one as we head to the bottom of the second. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back everyone. They will send Rodriguez, Beck, and Hope to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we just got to start nipping back one at a time. First pitch to A-rod in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. That's a good start for Reynolds. He was having having a lot of trouble finding that first pitch last inning.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the wind up and the pitch. Big swing and a miss by Rodriguez. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, nice pitch on the inside corner by Reynolds.

SPEAKER_13

Arlen has four runs on seven hits and one error. Crusaders have one run on two hits and one error. Here's the wind up in the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, that was way out, but he called it.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah. Ayrod goes down looking for out number one. That will bring Beck to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Chase been swinging the hot bat, so see if he can continue that.

SPEAKER_13

Normally plays second. He's playing third base today. First pitch high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's just a smooth infielder. I mean, defensively solid and and he's got that bat clicking here as of late.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. And that hits him. He turned his back, just like you said.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he didn't try ducking, did he?

SPEAKER_13

No. He will probably disagree with you on that being the right thing to do, but that sends Beck down to first base. JJ Hope steps in. He'll be followed by Tommy Carroll.

SPEAKER_04

Here we go. Here we go. You know, I mean the last thing you want to do is put your number nine hitter on the base. Now you got the top the order to deal with, and and we we all know how tough of an out JJ Hope is.

SPEAKER_13

So struck out his first time up, and he will be followed by Tommy Carroll, who has scored the only Crusader run today.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds kind of having trouble finding that inside strike zone.

SPEAKER_13

Checks back at first. No. This this guy has a wide, wide. If it was going down the highway, followed by chase cars, it would have extra wide load sign hanging on the back of it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that ball was way outside. Catcher framed it and brought it in. I mean, he didn't even frame it. He actually caught it and brought it in.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Nice bunt. Bunted. Just gets JJ at first base. Beck advances down to second on the sacrifice. And that will bring up Tommy Carroll. Two outs for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the second. They trail four to one.

SPEAKER_04

That Tommy just needs to keep that hot hitting going. And uh manufactured base hit. Got got some got a big gap between center and right. It's wide open. I mean, like to see him hit it over that second baseman or between second and first.

SPEAKER_13

Tommy singled his last time up. Check the runner at second. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That was apparently outside for one ball, no strikes. Harlan coach wanted it because he got it the last time. You can see he's sharping over there. Yeah, you say, wait, wait a second.

SPEAKER_13

It was closer to the plate than the last two strikes. Yeah. So it's hard to tell. Here's the pitch. Way over Tommy's head for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Shanner do up next.

SPEAKER_04

That's that curve ball he's having trouble with on that uh on the inside corner. He's trying to break it, and it just he just cannot get control of it.

SPEAKER_13

Checks Beck out at second base, deals to the plate. Another pitch inside. Three balls, no strikes. Carroll. I'm sorry, Beck able to advance the third on the pass ball.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you know, I I'm almost giving Tommy the green light here. I know he's only a freshman, but the that the bat he's been that he's had here lately, I mean, he gets something to hit. But he's disciplined as all get up, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him take.

SPEAKER_13

Checks back at third. Deals, that's ball four. That'll put runners at the corners with two outs. That'll bring Shaner to the plate. Crusaders trail four to one here in the bottom of the second.

SPEAKER_04

You know, if we get if Shaner gets two strikes on him here, which I don't want to get ahead of myself too far. I'd love to see that delayed double steal to try to manufacture a run in.

SPEAKER_13

Checks back at third, deals.

SPEAKER_04

That's trouble. That's high. Does he have room?

SPEAKER_13

Yep, he has pops that out to the third baseman for out number three. Crusaders get two men on and unable to get a run across. We'll head to the top of the third Crusaders trail four to one. We'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Thanks for tuning in, folks. We are headed to the top of the third. Harlan 4, Healin one. LaFaver just finishing his warmups here. The Cyclones will send Cade Nelson, Jake Spangenberg, and Joe Gross to the plates. Nelson reached his first time up on a single, and the ball went under Gaswin's glove out there, and he was able to get to second, and that kind of got the ball rolling for Harlan.

SPEAKER_04

Now let's talk a little bit more about some of our sponsors. Culligan, Cybercloak Tech LLC, and Dave Pepin Real Estate LLC. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healand Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_13

Nelson steps in from the left side. Aiden Long look in here. Deals that first pitch on the outside corner for strike one.

SPEAKER_04

No balls, one strike. Beautiful pitch on the outside corner, painting the black there. Playing on the uh right at the grass.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Outside, ball one, one ball, one strike. I did see Aiden's dad down here, so maybe they haven't headed out to Arizona yet. Here's the pitch. Another pitch outside. Two balls, one strike. Spengenberg do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, back's playing really deep. Like to see him take maybe a couple steps in.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. Another one way outside. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he can have a little trouble uh getting that uh getting that break on the ball. He's kind of leaving his leaving his hands early.

SPEAKER_13

Deals to the plate. That's in there for strike two. Brings account full. Three balls, two strikes. Aiden deals. That pitch is outside for ball four. Nelson walks, brings up Spangenberger. Runner at first for Harlan. They lead four to one here in the top of the third.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Harlan did most of the damage in that last inning. They didn't it's not like they were ripping the ball in between the gaps, Mike. They were just hitting ground ground singles, you know, through the infield.

SPEAKER_13

Aiden deals to the plate, squares to Bunt. Field by Beck. High throw over to Brody. He's able to come down and make the tag.

SPEAKER_04

Great job by Beck charging, making that play, picking the ball up and throwing it all in one stride.

SPEAKER_13

Nelson advances to second on the sacrifice. That will bring Joe Gross to the plate. He singled his last time up and scored a run.

SPEAKER_04

There's a small ball that we were talking about, Mike, and and Coach uh Stein talked about that, that he's not afraid to play it, and and we just saw it. I mean, good bunt.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch to the plate. Just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, a little bit uh little bit high on on the release there. Got it up there around his shoulders.

SPEAKER_13

Checks a runner at second. Deals to the plate. Good pitch. Swinging a miss for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's where that slider should be. Low at the knees on the outside corner, dipping as he's swinging. Really makes it hard for the hitter.

SPEAKER_13

Lafaver taking his time. Long look in here. Here's the pitch. And that didn't break. That hit him. That'll put runners at first and second with one out and bring Eck to the plate. He singled his last time up and scored a run.

SPEAKER_04

I like this situation actually a little bit better than what we had. Now we've got to force out at any base other than home. Um infielders can play regulation there for the double play up the middle.

SPEAKER_13

Aiden deals to the plate. Just misses on the inside corner for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's been a little high in uh in his zone today. Uh a little uncustomary for Aiden.

SPEAKER_13

Kaufman do up next. Pass to diving back at third base. That'll score one run.

SPEAKER_04

Nicely hit.

SPEAKER_13

Nelson scored on that base hit. Gross goes to third. Eck on base with the RBI single. And that will bring uh Kaufman to the plate. So it's five to one ball game here in the top of the third, and there is runners at first and third with one out for the Cyclones.

SPEAKER_04

I mean they have eight hits here, and and Mike, I I I'm trying to think of any of them that other than that one off the handle that went over JJ's head, everything else has just been a ground ball through the hole.

SPEAKER_13

Squares to bunt. Oh yeah. Throw down to third, he's able to get back.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. If he would have thrown that ball right away and Beck was over there, yeah, there he's dead. He he's he's he's out by a mile, but uh Beck didn't get over there quick enough, so Aiden had or Peyton had to kind of do one of those double pumps before he threw it.

SPEAKER_13

One ball, no strikes. Kaufman steps back in. Aiden checks the runner at first base, deals to the plate. That ball is hit well out to center field, deep enough. That will score a run.

SPEAKER_04

Good job by Dylan now. Just getting it into second, keeping the guy at first. Put on the center field at number two.

SPEAKER_13

Kaufman flies out to center field, able to drive a run across. That makes a score six to one here, and that will bring Arget Singer to the plate. Two outs. Runner at first.

unknown

How does that help you handle your time?

SPEAKER_04

I give a shout out to my cousin Andy Greer's listening uh now retired.

SPEAKER_13

Swing and a miss for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Thanks for uh listening to us, Andy.

SPEAKER_13

Well, we know we got three people listening.

SPEAKER_03

That's three on the screen.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch bounces in there, gets away from Peyton. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that ball hit the front of the plate, bounced over Peyton's head. You don't see that very often, but when it does, there's not much Peyton can do.

SPEAKER_13

I know we joke about it a lot, but we we truly appreciate everyone that tunes in and listens to uh Healing Athletics, Healing Baseball, uh tunes in and listens to Catholic Radio and supports that. Here's the pitch. That pitch breaks in there for a strike, one ball, two strikes. Schneider do up next.

SPEAKER_04

That's that high curve that breaks. Uh he throws it kind of with the elbow down a little bit, just beautiful pitch. Nothing hits, it's it's just a hard pitch to hit.

SPEAKER_13

Deals to the plate. Grounded out to Geezy at second, fields it, throws over to first for out number three. That will end the inning, but Harlan is able to push two more runs across, and they lead this one 6-1 as we head to the bottom of the third. We'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back everyone. Dylan Knapp steps in. First pitch to Dylan. In there for a strike. No balls, one strike. We will be on the air again tomorrow from Bishop Mueller Field. We've got a doubleheader with North. Pregame 345. First pitch for the first game is four o'clock. That pitch to Dylan inside. One ball, one strike. And then we'll be back on next Tuesday, four and six o'clock from Bishop Mueller Field. And next Thursday, I believe we're out at Sergeant Bluff. Hopefully they've got the field ready to be able to play at the new one instead of playing back at the old one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I just talked to their AD the other day, and he's excited. They've been playing out there, Mike, and he's excited. So he's got an air-conditioned press box for us and uh looking forward to having us out there.

SPEAKER_13

So I don't have to load up tables and extension cords and chairs and everything else.

SPEAKER_04

We can just show up. I I don't think so. And if you and if if we have to move uh uh Coach Hayes and the AD down to Sergeant Bluff, well, I'm sure we'll go out and get us some tables. Here's pitch. That hit him.

SPEAKER_13

And that pitch way inside hits Dylan.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan trots down to first base, and that will bring up Peyton Erickson. Second better hit uh by Harlan pitching here today.

SPEAKER_04

I think that's number is that I thought that's number three.

SPEAKER_13

No, we they they've hit two, we hit one.

SPEAKER_04

There we go, that's right. Another shout out for Lori Sitzman, uh, who spent a lot of years here at the ballpark uh cooking up the hot dogs. She put three sons through the program spanned over probably eight, nine years.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Outside for strike one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's giving him about six inches now off that outside of the plate.

SPEAKER_13

Long look over at first. And here's the pitch. Nice. Out of God. Gets under the second baseman's glove. Hard hit out to the second baseman. Gets under his glove. Knapp able to get down to second. So that'll put runners at first and second with no outs. And Nathan Gass went up. He's got the lone RBI for the Crusaders today.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think you've got to give him a hit on that. Um that was a hard hit ball, and it and it just caught him. It almost took his glove off.

SPEAKER_13

Jonas Jensen will pinch courtesy run. I'm sorry, courtesy run for Peyton Erickson.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they gave him a hit. I'm looking up there. Yeah, this is huge. Now we've got two guys on. Can't waste it here.

SPEAKER_13

Got to take advantage of these opportunities. That first pitch. High for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you just got to nip and tuck here. Nip and tuck, one run at a time.

SPEAKER_13

Runners at first and second and no outs. Crusaders trail six to one in the bottom of the third. There's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Yeah, that's six straight, I think, for Reynolds here, so Aiden Lafavre do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Aiden's gonna come up with the chance to help his cause.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball three. Three balls.

SPEAKER_04

That pitcher wasn't even looking when he threw it back.

SPEAKER_13

Three balls, no strikes, and Aiden Gass went. Halen has a chance to cut into this six to one Harlan lead. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball four. That will load the bases with Crusaders, and that will bring up Aiden Lefavre.

SPEAKER_04

Reynolds is really having trouble finding the zone right now. Here comes coach is coming out, settling down. Give us a chance to talk to a few more of our sponsors here, Mike. Drilling Morningside Pharmacy, Dunes Dental for Kids, Empirical, FM Wealth Management, Matt Lawler, Folk Brothers, Greenville Pharmacy, Greg and Krista Yochum, Gretkin Family Eye Care, Heideman Law Firm, Heinmann Family Dentistry, I'm on Communications, JJ Coins and Collectibles, and Jimmy Johns of Sioux City. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_13

This game is being broadcast on the internet by IA Baseball. They're a couple doors down from us. They do a great job covering uh high school sports in the state. First pitch into Aiden is in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I see they had uh Caleb on the radio there a little bit. I could hear him being interviewed as we were talking.

SPEAKER_13

You mean he wouldn't come do the home the home team interview? Have a talk with that young man.

SPEAKER_03

Beautiful.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan Knapp steals home on the throwback to the pitcher. That'll bring the score six to two Crusaders.

SPEAKER_04

You know, they've been lollygagging that ball back, and the pitcher doesn't pay attention. And Dylan saw that, and as soon as Ketcher threw that thing up in the air, he took off. Great job by Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

There we go.

SPEAKER_13

One ball, one strike to count. Outside. Two balls, one strike. Yeah, Caleb really can help himself here. Runners at first and second with no outs. Healing with the chance to do a little bit of damage here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh. Yeah, he's he's really struggling with his release point, and everything's been up around the shoulders for the Healing Batters.

SPEAKER_13

Three balls, one strike to Aiden Lefaver. Rodriguez due up next. That pitch is ball four. That'll load the base with Crusaders. And that will bring up A-rod. Jackson Vickery heading down to courtesy run for Aiden Lefavre.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they left fielders playing way over. There's a huge gap between left and center field right now.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. On that outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

You know, here we go. Mike, situation baseball. Base is loaded.

SPEAKER_13

Swing and a miss. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

I'd like to see some small ball here, but now you got yourself in a hole 0 and 2. But I mean, just put the ball in play. We get a run. Anything in play. Chase Beck do up next. Way outside there. One ball, two strikes. I mean, he was lined up in the batter's box on the opposite side.

SPEAKER_13

Big leads by all the Crusaders on the bases. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss for strike three. That's out number one. Bases remain loaded. Chase Beck steps in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was a big out for Harlan, and here's Chase. Got a hot bat lately.

SPEAKER_13

Looks in. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Oh. That's not a strike.

SPEAKER_13

Somewhere on that outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. JJ Hope do up next.

unknown

They're not going to try and get up the end.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's just swinging a miss, strike two. He's gave up on the curveball. He's just he's just rearing back and throwing on that outside corner every pitch. Swinging a miss for strike three. Yeah, Ryan Reynolds. He's grabbing the ball and he's just getting ready, he's ready to go, and that's exactly what he's doing. He's throwing that fastball in the outside corner, and that's it.

SPEAKER_13

JJ Hope steps in. JJ is third in the state with in hits with 27.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, just just solid. I mean, all the way around. Great, has a great eye.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch ball one. Styles that right back at UNI for strike one. One ball, one strike. Brody Shaner is also second in the state in total bases with 43. So a couple Crusaders up there in the statistics category.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's all he's doing right now, Mike. He's rearing back and he's throwing nothing but fastballs. He's giving up on the curveball. He keeps shaking him off.

SPEAKER_13

Base is full of Crusaders still. JJ Hope at the plate. There's two outs. Crusaders have pushed one run across here. And that hit him.

SPEAKER_04

That's that curveball. He'd come back with the curveball. You know, catcher must have gave it to him again. And finally he threw it. And what's he do? He hits him in the back.

SPEAKER_13

Third healing batter hit this game. Second one this inning. Crusaders now trail this one six to three. We're in the bottom of the third. There's two outs, bases loaded, and Tommy Carroll steps in.

SPEAKER_04

Everything with two outs. We talk about what you can do with two outs, make things happen, and here we go. Two outs, bases loaded. Here's the pitch. Oh, nice pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Foul back out of play for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That was Tommy's pitch. That was right in his wheelhouse. I'm sure he'd love to have that back.

unknown

Two runs here in the bottom half of the third. It's nasty, but in the top half, it's a safe three ballgame.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to Carroll. Inside. One ball, one strike. Brody Shaner is on deck, waiting his opportunity to drive some runs in. Tommy fouls that off out of play for strike two. One ball is two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Nice pitch on the outside corner there. Tommy just missed it.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up and delivery. That ball bounced out to the shortstop. He tossed it over to second base for the third out. Crusaders are able to push two runs across, cut the lead to six to three. We'll see you folks back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back, everyone. We are at Bishop Mueller Field heading to the top of the fourth inning. Harlan has six runs on eight hits and one error. Healin has three runs on three hits and one error. Harlan will send Colton Schneider, Harrison Kiergaard, and Jonas Reynolds to the plate here in the top of the fourth.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and we talked about seven of those eight hits are just uh ground balls that are that are finding the hole in between short and third or second and first. I mean, just just basically uh you know infield singles that are getting through. Caleb's doing a good job of creating ground balls, but they're just getting the ball in the gap.

SPEAKER_13

Aiden deals to the plate, and here's the pitch. That pitch has some carry to it. And that is a home run, folks. That's a home run for Colton Schneider. That brings the score to 7-3. Harlan with no outs here in the top of the fourth inning.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he hit that ball extremely high and got it up in the up in the zone. Uh you know, that wind blowing straight out the left center, and that's exactly what it did. Got it up there, and the wind just took it the rest of the way. I thought when he hit it, it was a routine fly ball.

SPEAKER_13

That's his third home run of the season, and his 25th RBI. Here's the pitch. Just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

That's a good pitch on the inside. Corner broke. You know, right at the waist. I thought that should have been a strike.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to Kiergaard. That pitch is way outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. First hard hit ball that Harlan has had today.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. That that all line always wanted to be.

SPEAKER_13

Three balls, no strikes. Reynolds do up next. Three balls, one strike. Wind up in the delivery. That lined right back past Aiden's outstretched glove for a single. Harlan will have a runner at first with no outs, and that'll bring Jonas Reynolds to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he did a great job. Kierkegaard did a great job of sitting back and taking that curved ball and hitting it straight up the middle. Good piece of hitting.

SPEAKER_13

Need to dig down here and get a double play and get that third out after that and get out of this inning. Squares to Bunt. Bunts it out to Lefrever. He picks it up, throws over to Schayner at first. Reynolds retired on the sacrifice. And Kiergaard will advance down to second base. That will bring up Kate Nelson.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Reynolds is one of their better hitters, and you know, and and coach not afraid to use him and bunt him down, get another run, put their runner in scoring position with one out. Unite are a fan of small ball, Mike, so I don't, you know, I don't mind seeing that.

SPEAKER_13

Nelson steps in from the left side here.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, hope he needs a silence here. Silence him.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to the plate. Nice pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Spangenberg do up next for the Cyclones. Here's the pitch. That bounces in there, gets away from Peyton for ball one, one ball, one strike, and Kiergaard able to advance to third on the wild pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's got to keep Kiergaard over there at third. And now the in position here you got a one and one. I wouldn't be surprised to see him lay another one down here.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch did not break across there. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's uncharacteristically high on his pitches.

unknown

One cycle matters. That one.

SPEAKER_13

Gesey dive, makes a diving stop over at second base to keep from going to the outfield. Kiergaard able to score from third. Great play by Cal on that diving stop, able to get that second out.

SPEAKER_04

There's that speed we've been talking about with Cal Geese. I mean, that ball had no business being knocked down, and he got to it to make that play.

SPEAKER_13

That brings a score eight to three. And Spengenberg steps in. Nobody on base, two outs. Two runs across for Harlan here in the top of the fourth. That is popped out the gas went, and that's gonna be over his head. He's gonna chase it. Well, didn't get quite as good a throw this time as he did last time. Last week. Spangenberg again with the triple.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that ball just had some serious uh spin. I mean, almost like a uh fade on your golf swing.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, well, I can't hit a fade on a golf swing, so I'll take your word for it. But that it just kept tailing away from Nathan, and when it hit, it took almost an immediate right turn into the fence. First pitch here. To Gross is high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Runner at third, two runs across for Harlan here in the top of the fourth. They lead eight to three. Chance to add another one here. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball two, two balls, no strikes. Gavin Eck would be due up next. Gross is singled and hit by a pitch. He scored two of the cyclone runs. Here's the pitch. Just inside. Three balls, no strikes. Wind up by Aiden and the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

There we go. I'll say that. Aiden's throwing a lot of pitches in these four innings.

SPEAKER_13

Need this out here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he does.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. It's outside for ball four. Gross draws the walk, puts runners at first and third with two outs. Gavin X steps in.

SPEAKER_04

Coach Wesselman's just trying to get him here. They're sending somebody down there into the bullpen. I can't see who it is. Number four.

SPEAKER_13

Arod.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

unknown

And now he needs to come back here almost every day as a head up.

SPEAKER_13

Runners at first and third for Harlan. Two runs across this inning, and there's two outs. X steps in. First pitch is low and outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think take a deep breath, Aiden. Just get us out of this inning and give us a chance here. Eight three. I mean, we've seen a lot of runs scored late. Beautiful on the inside corner.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Kaufman do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Just gotta get out of this any. Don't wanna give up any more, any more runs. Keep the damage to a minimum.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Fouled off out of play down the first baseline. One ball, two strikes. Long look in by Aiden. Checks a runner at first. Batter steps out. Aiden took a little too long to get ready there. And that hit him.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think that I think that might that might be it here.

SPEAKER_13

Let's see what Coach Wesselman That'll load the bases and bring Kaufman to the plate. He has singled and flown out to center field his two times up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Coach Wesselman's coming out to the mound, and I'm sure he's gonna take his time so Aver can get a little more loosened up.

SPEAKER_13

Healing currently trails this one 8-3. Harlan has the bases loaded here in the top of the fourth inning. Waiting to see if there's gonna be a pitching change here.

SPEAKER_04

He's gonna try to get him to finish this inning.

SPEAKER_13

Kaufman will come to the plate with the bases loaded.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, LeFavre's gonna stay in, and I'm sure he went out there and just said, Come on, Aiden, I need you here. Let's get through this inning. Keep this at a five-run game. Let our bats start doing some work.

SPEAKER_13

LeFavre looks in, deals to the plate. Bounce right back up the middle. JJ feels it, steps on second base for out number three. That will end the inning for Harlan, but they're able to push two runs across. They currently lead this one eight to three as we head to the bottom of the fourth. We'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back to Vision Mueller Field. I'm Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. Crusaders trail this one 8-3, heading to the bottom of the fourth. They will send Shaner, Knapp, and Erickson to the plate. Try to get something started here and get some of these runs back.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, uh good job by Coach Westman going out and settling down, Aiden, and then saying, get us through this inning. Uh let's keep this at five runs. Got Arod out there warming up. I'm assuming we probably saw the end of Aiden. Aiden uncharacteristically a little high in the zone today, having a little trouble hitting spots.

SPEAKER_13

Caleb came into this game. That ball hit sharply by Shaner. Bounces off the left fielder's leg. Brady will hold at first base. Shaner gets things started with the single, and that will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. He flew out to left field and was hit by a pitch his last time up and stole home to score one of the Crusader runs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Shaner just jumped on that first pitch.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch fouled out of play for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

I think they recognized that Reynolds was really struggling with that curveball and just rearing back and throwing fastballs, and these guys are coming up looking.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch bounces in there for ball one. One ball, one strike. Erickson on deck, waiting his chance to step in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Dylan's been swinging such a hot bat. I'd like to see him hit one of those gappers here.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch on that outside corner for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Crusaders trail eight to three. Long look in the pitch. Outside, ball two, two balls, two strikes. Bottom of the fourth inning. One run, one runner on with no outs for the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_04

Catcher on the outside corner. Trying to hit that outside corner spot. Nice, nice hit.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan fights that one off. Foul down the out of play down the first baseline. Keeps the count at two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, good piece of hit. Just missed it. Thought he was going to take that thing down right field line. Yeah, catchers. Catchers asking for a different pitch. There we go. Gonna go on that outside corner again, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Dylan hits that out the left field. Left fielder settling in under it. Makes the catch for out number one. Shaner will stay at first base. And that will bring Erickson to the plate. Don't have a whole lot of regular season games left, John. So if you're listening and you haven't been to see these Crusaders in action, you need to get out and catch them. Everything they have left is in town, I believe. So plenty of opportunities over the next couple weeks.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they're a fun team. I mean, we're down in the hole here right now, but I mean the way they've been playing and putting runs up, it I wouldn't be surprised to see them make comeback here. We've scored several times in the late innings twin ball games this year. And Knapp just missed that one and just got underneath it a little bit.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Pitch high and outside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Gas went due up next. Bottom of the fourth inning, Crusaders trail eight to three. Here's the pitch. Pitch is high for ball two, two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, good job keeping the wrist back, keeping the bat back on your shoulders on that one. He thought about it. He thought about it.

SPEAKER_13

Peyton has walked and singled and scored a run. Here's the pitch. Outside ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Gas went due up next. He would be followed by Aiden Lefavre. Here's the pitch. Yeah, there. That pitch is high, ball four.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when he when Reynolds starts missing, he just he misses and and has a high release point. And a lot of it's when when when there's guys on base.

SPEAKER_13

Jonas headed down to courtesy run for Erickson. Gaswent will step in. Looking down third baseline, getting some instruction from third base coach.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it'd be a nice chance. We got a chance here to do some damage. Cut back on that lead.

SPEAKER_13

Checks a runner back at second. Pitches outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Ball gets away from the pitcher on the throwback.

SPEAKER_04

That's about the fourth time that he's done that. That he he gets upset at himself and he goes to snap at the ball, and the ball rolls up past him and over toward the second baseman. When he gets behind Mike and when he has trouble, he comes to that outside corner, and it's fastball.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to Nathan.

SPEAKER_04

There's a rip.

SPEAKER_13

Ripped over the second baseman's head. That's gonna score one run.

unknown

And we've got another runner.

SPEAKER_13

There we go. Shayner scores from second base.

SPEAKER_04

That makes a score eight to four. That's exactly what he was looking for. And I'm sure Coach said it when he's struggling, throwing that fastball in the outside corner, and Gaswin absolutely ripped that ball.

SPEAKER_13

Got Jonas down at second. Gaswin at first, one out. Crusaders have one run across here in the bottom of the fourth. They trail eight to four. Aiden LeFaver steps in with the chance to help his cause. Here's the pitch to Aiden. Outside ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that catcher takes that outside pitch. He catches it and brings it back in. Boy, that's you know, usually with an umpire, that's a big no-no.

SPEAKER_13

Checks the runner at second. Ball hit hard by Aiden out to short. Throw to second. And they get the double play. That will retire the side for the Crusaders. They're able to get one run across. They trail this one eight to four as we head to the top of the fifth. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_13

We are back and we have a pitching change for the Crusaders. Beckett Blatchford is on the mound. He is a record of 0 and 0. He's got two innings pitched. Teams are batting 143 against him. He's given up one hit, one run, and it was earned. He's hit four batters, struck out none. He has an ERA of 3.50. And I know we said last I said last week he reminds me of Bug Powell. I don't ever remember Bug Powell pitching whenever he was with the Orioles.

SPEAKER_04

He really does uh in those white uniforms and and uh anxious to see what he can do here. He I've seen him come in and and throw really well, and and then we saw him the one time where he hit the four batters, um hoping to uh to see the first one tonight.

SPEAKER_13

Absolutely. Uh Harlan here in the top of the fifth will send Arget Singer, Schneider, and Kiergaard to the plate. They lead this one eight to four. Harlan has eight runs on 11 hits and one error. Crusaders have four runs, five hits and one error.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's important. We got to keep them at check here. And and we've got uh three innings uh to get those four runs back. I mean, very doable, especially with the way Reynolds has been pitching. He's been he's been all over the place, and he's thrown a lot of pitches, so I'm not so much I'm not so sure how much longer he will go as well.

SPEAKER_13

Beckett with a wind up and the first pitch, swing and a miss for strike one. No balls, one strike. Margaret Singer took a big cut at that one, not able to connect. Here's pitch number two.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you gotta call that.

SPEAKER_13

Caught that inside corner for strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

That's a great job pitching by Beckett, and a great job, Peyton, lining up on that inside corner, especially with this guy right on the line. Wind up in the pitch. That's a that's there. That's a good pitch. One ball, two strikes. You know, I don't the umpire don't want him to be fooled because the guy's got his feet right there, his left foot right on the line. That's a good pitch on the inside corner.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Hit weekly. Shayner tossed it to Betch Blatchford, who was covering, and Arget Singer was able to slide in safely for the single. That'll put a runner at first base with no outs, and that will bring Colton Schneider to the plate. He has singled twice and Homered.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he just beat Beckett to the first base. That's all that was. I mean, yeah, I bet I mean he's got to get over there quicker and and make that play.

SPEAKER_13

Looks in and deals. Outside corner for strike one, no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's too bad, too, because that was a beautiful pitch on the inside corner. Got him jammed right off the handle. The first baseman should have made the play.

SPEAKER_13

Becca checks the runner at first. Deals to the plate, runner goes. Pitch is fouled off for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Arget Singer at first base. No outs for Harlan here in the top of the fifth inning. Kiergaard deal up next.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Schneider's been hitting the ball well, so I mean this is a very dangerous battery and they had a hit and run on.

SPEAKER_13

Checks the runner and deals plate. Runner goes again. That ball hit out. The thing is Taylon.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan not able to get to that. And Schneider is going to be easily over the hole. He started to third and thought wisely of turning and going back. But Argat Singer scores from first base on the double, and that makes the score 9-4 for Harlan and runner at second base, and there's still no outs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that wind is really hollering at the top there. I mean, that ball looked at when it initially hit like a routine fly ball to center field, nothing just kept carrying and angling over toward left center, or excuse me, to right center. Almost got to the warning track when it bounced.

SPEAKER_13

Kiergaard will step in. He's reached on the fielder's choice. He singled and scored a run. Same thing.

SPEAKER_04

That's the same spot.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan able to make the run and catch. Schneider will advance to third base on that. Dylan lost it, but they rule it was on the exchange, so it's an out. Unlike what went on in the College World Series game last night. Center fielder made a diving catch and rolled over, and as he was getting up, the ball fell out of his glove. And they said that was a voluntary release, and that's why they overturned it and called it a base hit.

SPEAKER_04

No, that that that was a rough call on that. Dillon was just trying to get out of Gaswin's way. They about collided there.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, that Dillon would have been the Hugo in that accident. And Nathan would have been the semi because that first pitch outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes. That would not have been a good ending for Dylan. Here's the pitch. Outside, ball two. Two balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Beckett needs to come back in, and he's two pitches uh about three feet outside the plate.

SPEAKER_13

Reynolds bat looks like a bomb pop.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Red, white, and blue.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, just missed. I don't know where that pitch was, but had to have been had it been low. It was right on the corner.

SPEAKER_13

Just low for ball three. Three balls, no strikes. Cade Nelson is due up next for the Cyclones. Here's the pitch by Beckett. Right down the middle for strike one. Three balls, one strike. One out here for Harlan in the top of the fifth. They pushed one run across to increase their lead to nine to four. And they've got Schneider at third base. Blatchford delivers to the plate. Swing and a miss, strike two. Brings the count full. Again, we will be on tomorrow. Pregame 345. First pitch, 4 o'clock, as the Crusaders take on the North Stars.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we'll have uh Gaswin and uh Dylan Knapp going tomorrow for the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Nice pitch by Beckett. Foul back. Really good job getting himself back in this count. Count remains full. Three balls, two strikes. Yeah, I like that pitch. Come back in. Got him right on the right on the hands. Beckett looks in. There we go. Got him. That's the second time he's called him out on that outside pitch. Reynolds, he doesn't like it.

SPEAKER_13

That's out number two. That brings Cade Nelson to the plate. He will step in with Schneider at third. Two outs.

SPEAKER_04

I want to say Reynolds has been getting that pitch all night, so first pitch deal.

SPEAKER_13

Oh, just passed a diving Cal Geese out at second base. That will score Schneider from third and make the score 10-4. Cade Nelson on first base with a hard-hit single.

SPEAKER_04

Man, that j he just missed that.

SPEAKER_13

That was if you are coming out to the game tomorrow night, folks, make sure you bring a dollar or two because the teammates mentoring of Bishop Healen will be selling Italian ices at the game. It's the perfect cool treat at the game, and I think it's supposed to be a little warmer. Comes with a reusable sleeve to keep your hand from getting cold. Man, they can think of everything. Reusable. Use it over and over. I'm reading the ad, the post on Facebook here, so a little excited by that. You can eat them and not have your fingers freeze.

SPEAKER_04

That's up. That's up. That's in territory.

SPEAKER_13

Peyton makes a diving catch of that foul ball for out number three. Boy, he misses that. That's a fair ball. That will retire the side, but Harlan able to push two runs across here in the top of the fifth. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Harlan leads 10-4. We'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Back here in the bottom of the fifth inning, Alex Rod or A-Rod is up, and he's got a count of no balls, two strikes on him. Crusaders trail this one 10-4. A-Rod hits that back up. The middle, shortstop makes a diving attempt at it, not able to make the stop. Goes out into center field. A-Rod on with the single, and that'll bring Chase Beck. Again, if you're planning on coming to the game tomorrow, bring some extra money, cash, so you can buy some Italian ices and support the teammates' mentoring program at Bishop Healing. And if you weren't planning on coming out and you want to help a good cause, plan on coming out and helping with that. That pitch fouled back here. Catcher not able to hold on to it. Drops for strike one.

SPEAKER_04

The pitcher's almost got to take control of that. The way the wind's blowing, that is an absolute tough play for the catcher, and the pitcher's got a better angle at that. He should have called him off and took that pitch. Or took that play.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch is way outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. JJ Hope would step in next after Beck.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there's a lot of swirling on that wind.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, it's way out.

SPEAKER_13

Outside corner for strike two. One ball, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's so generous on that outside corner. Really makes you come up there, and you really got to defend the outside corner.

SPEAKER_13

Chase strikes out for out number one. JJ Hope will step in. He'll be followed by Tom Carroll.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, here again, you got to pick at it. Get a couple runs here. And Reynolds has got to be getting close himself. I'm guessing he's got to be in the he's got to be close to the 90s. So I don't think we're going to see him much longer.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch to JJ Ball. Pitch number two. Ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Rodriguez at first base. Reached on a single. Tommy Carroll's due up next. He'll be followed by Shaner. We're in the bottom of the fifth. Crusaders trail 10-4, trying to get back in this one. Pitch outside. Ball three. Three balls, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's when Reynolds wants, when he gets going and he wants, he starts throwing strikes, he he works fast.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball four. JJ draws the walk, puts runners at first and second with one out. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. Harlan scored four in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Crusaders scored one in the first, two in the third, and one in the fourth. Trying to add to that total here in the bottom of the fifth inning.

SPEAKER_04

Here we go. One out. I mean, Tommy Carroll. It's trouble. That's gonna be that's trouble. There we go.

SPEAKER_13

Grounded that out to short. Off the short stops glove.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he didn't have a play.

SPEAKER_13

I think he got distracted when the third baseman ran in front of him.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he had no play, even if he feels that clean. He he has no play at any of the bases. I mean, you got to give him a hit on that. Uh slow roller in between third and short.

SPEAKER_13

That'll load the bases for Shaner. It'd be a good time for another satellite missile by Brody. Bounces that over the third baseman's head. One run will score. JJ held up at third, but the Crusaders able to push one run across.

SPEAKER_04

What I'd like to have seen JJ go. I think he had, I think he has it. But uh good job uh holding up.

SPEAKER_13

Bases remain loaded for Dylan Knapp.

SPEAKER_04

I'm a little greedy when it comes to JJ. I I'll take his wheels over the throw any day.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch to Dylan. Just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Bases full of Crusaders. They've pushed one across in this inning. Scores 10-5. Harlan leads.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan just missed it last at Bat. Man, if he gets that.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch number two is ball number two. Two balls, no strikes. Erickson do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Here's Reynolds. He gets down on himself. He gets all upset. And this is when you can tag him.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. That pitch in there for strike one. Two balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Now make that mistake. Make that mistake pitch. And Dillon just lace into one.

SPEAKER_13

Wind up in the pitch. Oh, Dylan fouls that back for strike two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that was his pitch, Mike. That was his pitch. And just missed it. Just fouled it off.

SPEAKER_13

Hope at third. Carroll at second. Shayner at first. Dylan trying to drive a couple runs in here. Long look. Sets up on the outside corner. Here's the pitch. You know, Dylan fouls that one out of play. Count remains two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, nothing's guaranteed today, Mike, with that wind blowing left, left to right out to center field. That ball's been brought back in several times.

SPEAKER_13

Long look in at Dylan. Starts his windup. Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

Here we go.

SPEAKER_13

Dylan rips that out to left field. That's going to score one. We're going to base to base base running here, folks. Bases remain loaded. Dylan Knapp with the RBI single. Everybody moves up one base. Healing now trails 10-6. We are in the bottom of the fifth. And the Harlan coach is headed out to have a conversation. We'll see if he's going to make a change.

unknown

Back-to-back RBI singles down now.

SPEAKER_13

Peyton Erickson is due up next. There's a meeting out on the mound of the Harlan infield and their coach.

SPEAKER_04

I'm sure their coach is saying doing the same thing that uh Jacob did. Going out there trying to calm him down, saying, listen, we got a one-out, we've got to force it any bail. Oh no, there's they're making the switch.

SPEAKER_13

We are going to have a pitching change. We will give you the new pitcher whenever we come back. We'll be back in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

The new pitcher for Harlan is Joseph Gross. He has a record of 0-2. Teams are batting 239 against him. He's given up 16 hits, 16 runs, 12 of those have been earned. He's walked eight batters, hit six batters, struck out 13, has an ERA of 5.25. And with that change, Jonas Reynolds will head out to right field.

SPEAKER_04

Just been kind of watching him warm up here, Mike, and he doesn't throw really hard. He looks like he just kind of got a nice little curveball, but definitely doesn't have the velocity that Reynolds has. Well, this is a great opportunity. You got Peyton Erickson and Peyton. We've seen Peyton get a hold of them. I mean, he can easily tie this ballgame off with one swing.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, Peyton's got two walks and a single tonight. First pitch drops in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there's that curveball that just hangs there, and you really got to sit back on it.

SPEAKER_13

One out for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the fifth. They've pushed two runs across. Peyton hits that out to second base. He turns. Great double play. That was a great double play by Harlan.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Schneider's got a can and he came across that base firing.

SPEAKER_13

Healing able to push two runs across. They cut into the lead. It is 10-6. Harlan as we head to the top of the sixth inning. We'll keep it here.

SPEAKER_04

This is give us a chance to talk about our sponsors, Mike. Let's get going here. Keller Williams Real Estate, Agent Tammy Bertram, Cruz Financial Group, Lawler Fixtures, Liberty National Bank, Lightform, Modern Day Parish, McClintock Insurance, Meyer Brothers Funeral Home, Mills Shellhammer Pits, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Mollet Industrial Group, My Jeweler, Myra Favors, Estate Farm Agency, Neil Pfeiffer, KOC Insurance Agent, Nook Rib Inspection, People's Bank of Sioux City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace, Trinity Heights, Ruli Family Chiropractic, Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Siouxland, Sioubody Shop, Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux City Sprinkler, Siou City Symphony and Orchestra, Sneaky's Chicken, Soho Kitchen and Bar, St. Augustine Indian Mission, Staber Meats, and Sunny Big Dental. Thank you so much for being sponsors of Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio. Back to you, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Beckett Blatford back on the mound for the Crusaders here as we head to the top of the sixth inning. Harlan will send Joe Gross, Gavin Eck, and Barrett Kaufman to the plate. They lead this one 10-6 here in the top of the sixth. Looking for a 1-2-3 inning here so we can get back up and try to cut into that lead some more.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we had an opportunity there. Base is loaded, one out, and just a great uh turn by Schneider from Harlan on the double play to get us to get them out of the you know, inning. Otherwise, we score another run with guys in scoring position.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, great job. Uh heard a commercial a couple breaks ago for Bob Rose Point After and North End zone. It is Wings Wednesday. So if you're looking for something to do for dinner, that's a great place to go.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we have so many great sponsors.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch just lined over JJ's head out at shortstop. Gross reaches on the single, and that will bring Gavin Eck to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, just uh a good pitch. Um kind of jammed him, got him up, got him to hit that thing, not off the barrel, but more off the handle, and he just kind of a lazy loop right over JJ's head.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, we needed a 6-7 shortstop on that one. As usual for JJ, though, he made a great effort to try to make the play.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, X really been struggling with that high fastball, so I'd come right at the right at the fist with him.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch from Beckett. Swing and a miss, strike one, no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That's exactly where it was, and Peyton recognized that. Gave him one right up there in the high, right about chest high.

SPEAKER_13

Beckett deals to the plate. That pitch is high for ball one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, uh, you know, I mean uh 15 hits, they've had two, three really good hits, and the rest of them have just been, you know, just little uh yeah, uh worm diggers basically going through the infield and just getting in between in between our uh first and short, and first and second, second and short.

SPEAKER_13

One ball, two strikes a count to eck. Blatchford delivers. Pitch high inside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

They said that got him.

SPEAKER_13

Alright, well, we got another hit by pitch there, folks. So that'll put runners at first and second.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, I did not see that. I didn't think that hit him, but here they go. They got no outs, guy in first and second, uh, situation baseball, um, situation hitting. They're not afraid uh square up, put the bunt down, and I I really look for him to do that again here.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, Kaufman steps in. He is singled, flown out to center field, and popped out to the shortstop. Yeah, there he is. He squares, bunts that, goes foul. No balls, one strike. Turned his bat just a little too far.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. He's got some serious wheels. Yeah, he he. Now Beck's playing playing in. Yeah, he's backed up just a little bit here. They're gonna do it again. He's gonna square up again. So, I mean, Beck's gonna be on be on his horses here.

SPEAKER_13

Two on for Harlan here in the top of the six. They currently lead 10-6. Two runners on, no outs. There it is. He squares, punts that beautifully right out in front of the plate. Erickson scoops it up, throws to first, just gets the runner.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, great job by Erickson uh getting that.

unknown

And long run that does move the runners out here down.

SPEAKER_13

That gets the runners over in scoring position at second and third with one out. That'll bring Arget Singer to the plate. He is struck out looking, reached on a fielder's choice, grounded out second to first, and singled. He scored two runs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean he's this is a kid that's right up on the plate. Got to come on the inside corner on him. Yeah, you can't give up a run here.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the first pitch. Fouled off for strike one, no balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, a little little outside. I mean, there's no way he's gonna catch up on the inside corner, and last time he he just did a slow roller right to first base, and we just we just didn't make the play. I mean you still got to come inside on him.

SPEAKER_13

Beckett takes a long look in and deals. That's perfect.

SPEAKER_04

That's exactly where you need to put the pitch.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch was in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes, one out, two runners on. Harlan leads 10-6, looking to add to that lead.

SPEAKER_04

I'd come back to that same pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch.

SPEAKER_04

That's trouble. Yeah, it's gonna score one.

SPEAKER_13

That pitch hit out to Carroll in left field. Gross will score from third to make it 11-6. Out number two. And that will bring Schneider to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Dylan last time that he got that ball up in the air, and that thing just kept going and going and going. And and Dylan almost needs to play a little deeper, probably here. I know he's got some serious wheels, but the way that wind's blowing.

SPEAKER_13

Harlan's added to run here in the six. They lead this one 11 to 6.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a big run by Harlan. I mean, huge. You had a four-run. Well, they're gonna check him at third here. Uh neither one.

SPEAKER_13

The guy out there wasn't watching, so I don't I don't think either one of them really knew. You take your chances. It's not like you have two challenges in college and you lose one, so.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a big run for Harlan, because now that may I mean now grand slam or anything can't tie it.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch fouled off. No balls one strike.

SPEAKER_04

That's a good pitch on the inside corner. Curveball right at his fist.

SPEAKER_13

Kiergaard do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's uh he's having a good day. Jackie doesn't like the pitch coming out, yeah.

SPEAKER_13

I mean check's the runner at second. Deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Good pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he had that. He's hit two really high balls. One went out and the other one went to deep right center. Two outs here. Yeah, he got him down 0-2. You can't give him nothing in his wheelhouse.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike three.

SPEAKER_04

Boy, got him got him.

SPEAKER_13

Fooled him on that one. That pitch was way outside, got him swinging. Harlan adds one run here in the top of the sixth. They'd lead this one 11 to 6. We'll head to the bottom of the sixth, and we'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_13

Hello everyone.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you got to come in here and you got to keep your weight back. I watched him warm up. He throws about 90% curve balls when he's warming up, and then uh first pitch to Gaswin's curve, and it just kind of hangs there and dips right at the last minute. Yeah, it's a great pitch to hit. You just got to be patient.

SPEAKER_13

No balls, two strikes. Swing and a miss for strike three. Out number one for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the sixth. That will bring Beckett Blatchford to the plate. JV score for you. Healing is over at north, and they lead one to nothing in the top of the second. Blatchford steps in from the left side.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. There we go. He hits it.

SPEAKER_13

Like he did last week, hit it sharp. Yeah. Sharp down the first baseline last week, and sharp down the third baseline this week for a single. So Blatchford continues a little bit of hot hitting there. He's on with a single.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, a good piece of hitting. Just kind of kept his weight back, just like we were talking about. Got that curve ball just like we were talking about. And he took that thing, went with it, and took it down the left field baseline.

SPEAKER_13

Mason Moravic will step in, pinch hit for Rodriguez.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I like this move. Mason's got Mason can get on a roll in a hurry. He's really good about taking that ball straight up the middle.

SPEAKER_13

Bottom of the sixth. Crusaders trail 11 to 6. Here's the pitch. It's that out to the second baseman. And they get the double play to retire the side. 4-6-3 double play, and that retires the side for the Crusaders in the bottom of the sixth. We'll head to the top of the seventh. Crusaders trail 11 to 6. We'll see you back here in one minute.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Well, now we have something else to think about for dinner. Just heard the Sneakies commercial. Hi, Christy and Dave. Thanks for making us hungry here. We head to the top of the seventh inning. Harlan leads us with 11 to 6. They will send Kiergaard, Reynolds, and Nelson to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

You know, really the difference in the game today, Mike, is I know I I say it a lot, probably beat it until it's uh, you know, until it's dead uh situation hitting. They've done it with their guys in scoring position. They've, you know, we put together nine, ten hits here, uh, and we've had several runners and just either hit into a double play or fly ball.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch to Kiergaard just misses for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Yeah, we've definitely had runners on base. We've left a lot of runners out there. We just haven't been able to push any runs across.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_13

Blatchford deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

That'd be a tough play.

SPEAKER_13

Slow roller to back at third. No. Not able to make the play. Yeah. Kiergaard reaches. Runner at first with no outs. That will bring Reynolds to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you've got to give him a base hit on that. I don't even if he feels that clean, I don't think he has a play. Kierguards he gets down the line fast. Yeah, here comes Reynolds, and he's he's he's got called on that outside strike twice.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Pitch it out to Gaswin in right field. He goes back, settles under it, makes the catch for out number one. This will bring Cade Nelson to the plate. He'll be followed by Spangenberg. Nelson steps in from the left side.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, let's manufacture a double play ball here. Keep the ball on the ground. Get a nice turn.

SPEAKER_13

Here's that first pitch. High and outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Beckett's done an admirable job coming in and throwing strikes, hitting the corners. Um, I know he gave up a run the last inning.

SPEAKER_13

Swinging a miss, strike one, one ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Outside corner perfectly pitch right out there on the black. Good job by Peyton framing that ball.

SPEAKER_13

Here's delivery runner goes. Pitch way outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Kiergaard down at second base with one out. Looking to add another run here to their lead that is 11-6 currently.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, again, I mean they're they're getting they get a huge jump there on Beckett on that one. Uh Peyton had a decent throw down there, but still, I don't think he had a shot at him.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Spangenberg do up next.

SPEAKER_04

Here's that situation baseball we've been talking about right here, Mike. I mean, they got a guy on second base, one out. And we haven't been able to bring these guys in. So you can do that and keep your team in the game.

SPEAKER_13

And the pitch. Just inside the first baseline fair. That'll score one run.

SPEAKER_04

He's going for three.

SPEAKER_13

Reynolds. Nelson with the triple.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he he turned on that thing, got a really nice solid hit down the right field line. Uh went all the way into the corner. Here comes Coach Wesselman. I think he's gonna make a change.

SPEAKER_13

Brings a score of 12 to 6. Crusaders trail here in the top of the seventh, and we're gonna have another pitching change.

SPEAKER_04

Looks to me like uh is he bringing Tommy Carroll in? What's he bringing in here?

SPEAKER_13

Looks like Carroll's coming in. It looks like Jonas will go out to left field. So let's take a one-minute break, and we'll see you back here shortly.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.

SPEAKER_13

We're back here in the top of the seventh inning. Harlan has pushed one run across in this inning. And they've got a runner at second base. A new pitcher for Healen is Tommy Carroll. He comes in. Two-thirds of an inning pitched. He's given up two hits, two runs, two earned, two walks, and no strikeouts. Has an ERA of 21. Harlan has 12 runs on 16 hits and one error. Healing has six runs on nine hits and two errors.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I haven't seen Tommy throw this year, so this is a good opportunity for me to see him. Uh I I know he pitched. He pitched a little bit last year. And so this is giving him an opportunity uh finish the inning and and uh get the crusaders out and give us a chance to get back in here and start nipping at this uh six-round lead again.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch.

SPEAKER_04

There we go.

SPEAKER_13

Hit right at Beck at third base. He makes the play for out number two.

SPEAKER_04

That was a rope right to Beck. Almost got the double, he didn't double him up, just about had him off base.

SPEAKER_13

That will bring up Joe Gross. First pitch high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Gross has singled, been hit by a pitch, walked, and singled. He scored three runs. I mean long look in, here's the pitch. Good pitch. Swinging a miss, strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Tommy's just trying to throw some strikes here, and uh it's got a little bit different speed, a little bit different movement on the ball than Beckett did, so checks the runner at third, deals to the plate.

SPEAKER_13

Outside ball two, two balls, one strike. The bottom of the seventh, healing will send Beck, Hope, and Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

There we go. That pitch popped up. That should come back in. Oh, just just nasty.

SPEAKER_13

Lands in the Harlan dugout. Brings a count. Two balls, two strikes.

SPEAKER_04

We got two and two. Uh guy on third base. Gotta keep the uh gotta keep keep that guy in. We can't give up any more runs here. Yeah, Tommy, Tommy taking a long look in. Here we go. Chest missed. Bringing up full count here, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Uh full count on Gross. Gavin Eck do up next. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball four. Puts runners at first and third with two outs. Eck will step in. He has singled twice and been hit by a pitch twice.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Eck uh likes that high pitch. You keep that ball up in the zone, he'll go for it. Got a force out a second. Play it first. No need to come home.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch outside for ball one. Harlan leaves this one twelve to six. We are in the top of the seventh.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Tommy just needs to sit there and take a deep breath. Throw some strikes. Yeah, nice pitch on the inside corner. Yeah, beautiful pitch. One on one on Eck here.

SPEAKER_13

Long look, checks runners. Here's the pitch. Runner set first goes.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that ball. I don't know where that pitch was, but obviously I wonder if Peyton jumped up to go through, and I wonder if that blocked the ump, but that pitch looked good to me. Must have been just a little low.

SPEAKER_13

Two balls, one strike to Eck. Here's the pitch. That pitch way outside for ball three. Three balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Got an empty base at first. I mean, worst case scenario, we walk him and we get a force out at any base. Like to see him come back on this guy, get him to ground out.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_13

Bounces that one in there for ball four. That'll load the bases for the cyclones. Two outs here in the bottom of the top of the seventh, and that'll bring Barrett Kaufman to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Tommy just needs to just take a take a deep breath, relax, come after the batter, play catch with Peyton here.

SPEAKER_13

Bounces in there and gets away from Peyton. Not far enough for the runner to advance. That's ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's having a little trouble coming off that mound. That's the third one in a row that he shorthopped to Peyton. Yeah, my guess is he doesn't get a lot of practice at pitching, so coming off that mound is awkward.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Just low for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Base is full of cyclones with two outs here in the top of the seventh. They lead this one 12 to 6. Here's the pitch. That's outside, gets away from Peyton. Ronald's gonna score. That brings the score to 13 to 6. Everybody move up one. So now runners at second and third with two outs and a 3-0 count to Kaufman. He'll be followed by Arget Singer.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, just throw two more of those. Outside corner. Right at the knees.

SPEAKER_13

Long look here. Checks the runners and the pitch. That pitch is pop foul. Beck trying to settle under it in foul territory. Makes the catch for out number three. Harlan pushes two runs across here in the top of the seventh. They lead this one 13 to 6. We will be back with you in one minute.

SPEAKER_02

And now back to your Crusaders Corpse on your Catholic radio station.

SPEAKER_13

Welcome back, everyone. We are headed to the bottom of the seventh Crusaders Trail 13 to 6. Got a little work cut out for them. They will send Beck, Hope, and Carol to the plate. I want to be sure and thank Grace Tott back in the studio for keeping everything running smoothly tonight. She's done a fantastic job as always. And saw Jack Stevens here taking some pictures that I'm sure will show up on Facebook in the next day or two.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we just got a great staff there. I want to get a few more of our sponsors in here. Mike, Tim and Lisa Swadin, Tri-State Dental Care, Advanced Thompson Vision, SCProp LLC, Wall of Fame, Graphics Incorporated, Wilmus, Do It Best Hardware, Sioux City, South, Sioux City, Nebraska, and Rens Plumbing and Heating Incorporated.

SPEAKER_13

First pitch, high for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Well, this is it. I mean, if we're gonna do anything, we gotta do it right here.

SPEAKER_13

Pitch drops in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

And he's gonna give you a great pitch to hit. He just he just bends that thing right across the plate.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. Two balls, one strike. Delivery to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, ball is way out. Two balls, two strikes. But in fairness, I can call nothing all night, so I mean, I mean, that's a good half foot outside.

SPEAKER_13

And the pitch. Just high for ball three. Full count on Beck. JJ Hope awaiting his turn. Here's the pitch to Chase.

SPEAKER_04

Here we go.

SPEAKER_13

First runner gets on. First batter on.

SPEAKER_04

Good piece of hitting by Chase.

SPEAKER_13

Chase Beck down at first base. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, JJ Hope. I mean, he's gonna get that pitch.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the first pitch. Just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that that's about uh as slow a curveball as you're gonna see, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

JJ will be followed by Tom Carroll and Brody Shaner.

unknown

So we are seeing patience from the first one.

SPEAKER_13

Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. One ball, one strike. Again, we'll be on tomorrow at 3 45 with pregame. First pitch against the North Stars will be at 4 o'clock for game one. Here's the pitch. Hits that down to third base. Fields it, throws over to second. And JJ beats that out. Beck out at second for the first out. JJ reaches on the fielder's choice. One down for the Crusaders. They trail 13 to 7 in the bottom of the seventh, and they will send Tommy Carroll to the plate.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that's the stuff we've been doing, hitting it right to their to their players and creating double play balls, and JJ's just got enough wheels to get down there and beat it out.

SPEAKER_13

Pitt first pitch fouled off the catcher's mit for a strike. No balls, one strike.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Tommy's. Here's a pitch. There we go. That's tough.

SPEAKER_13

That is gonna settle into the left fielder's glove for out number two. And the Crusaders are down to their last chance here in the bottom of the seventh. They trail 13 to 6, and Shayner steps in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Tommy just missed that, just got underneath it. Um it didn't sound like he got the fat of the bat on it. It was a kind of a uh lazy fly ball out there to left field.

unknown

He's a leader in total basis for the squad.

SPEAKER_13

Checks the runner at first. Inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Shaner's got an opportunity to do a little more damage here. I mean, you got to come up here aggressive. I mean, you're you're you know, yeah, we're down by seven runs, but you have an opportunity to do some things for yourself here. Uh bring your batting average up, uh, have good at bats. Everything's a learning lesson. Um, even when you have it when you're behind seven rounds like we are. That should do it.

SPEAKER_13

Pops that up into foul territory. There we go. Catcher settles under it for out number three. Crusaders are retired in the seventh inning, and that will do it. They lose to the Harlan Cyclones 13-6 tonight. John, the the Cyclones didn't hit the ball hard, they just hit it where we weren't every time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's exactly the difference in the game, is they their ground balls went through the infield. A lot of ours didn't. Um we actually had a pretty good stat line here, six runs on nine hits. Um that's actually a pretty good day. Normally, you get six six runs with nine hits, you're winning the ball game. The beauty about this game, Mike, is okay, we've seen Harlan. There's a chance we could play Harlan down the line to, you know, in the playoffs to possibly go to state. We just saw their number one, and they haven't seen our number one or number two. And and Caleb uncharacteristically was a little high in the zone today, uh gave up, you know, um a couple, a couple long hits, but um he'll fight back, he'll come back, he'll be stronger his next outing. So I'm encouraged. I mean, and that's the the positive thing that you got to do as a coach when you go down here, he's huddling them up, is you've got to talk about okay, the positives, positives, positives. And and you still got to bring up some of the negatives, obviously, the air out in right field, um maybe uh some laziness on some plays that we should have had, that cover over at first base, things like that. You've got to clean up.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah. Healing drops a 17-8 on the season, and they will come back tomorrow for a MRAC doubleheader with the North Stars. We will be on at 3 45 first pitch or with a pregame first pitch at 4, and we'll follow that with second game of the doubleheader approximately 30 minutes after that. Appreciate everybody listening tonight, and we will see you tomorrow.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you again, Mike.

SPEAKER_13

Yep.
