Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
261 against him. He has given up 29 hits, 31 runs. 24 of those have been earned. He has walked 14. He's hit three, and he has struck out 40. So he's a strikeout pitcher. He's got an ERA of 6.72. For the Crusaders in game number two, we've got, like you said, a hodgepodge. We've got a batting order that's got a lot of familiar faces and some new ones. Leading off JJ Holt playing shortstop. Batting second will be Peyton Erickson. He'll be a catcher. Batting third, Tommy Carroll will be playing left field. Batting cleanup for the Crusaders, Dylan Knapp, center field. Batting fifth, Nathan Gaswent playing right field. And here's where it starts to get a little mixed up, John. Batting sixth, playing first base, Jonas Jensen. Batting seventh and DH'ing will be Beckett Bugpal Blatchford. He'll be DH'ing for Cal Ghesey, who will be playing third base this game. So he's back to his natural position. Batting eighth will be Jackson Vickery. He'll be the pitcher. And batting ninth will be Chase Beck at second base.
SPEAKER_07I like this. I like the idea that we're we're moving Geese over to third, giving him a shot at third. We know what Chase Beck can do at second base. He's he's a natural at second. He's got a great glove. Um this will be interesting because uh Geecey is has has also played a really good second base, and um I'm glad he, you know, coach is just trying to solidify that infield.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, trying to trying to see who can do what and get them where they need to be. For Jackson Vickery, he has started one game. He has a record of one and one. He's thrown, he's pitched 13 in third innings. Teams are batting 255 against him. He's given up 13 hits. 13 runs, 10 of those have been earned. He's walked 11, he's hit two, he has struck out nine, and he has an ERA of 5.25. And the Crusaders come into this game with 44 hit batters.
SPEAKER_07Gotta be a state leading. I'm gonna look it up in between.
SPEAKER_02One of those statistics that you don't want to lead any category in or anywhere in the state, but uh we've we've got to be pretty close. So let's take a two-minute break and we will be back to get this game started.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_04All right.
SPEAKER_02Doggy paddlers.
SPEAKER_07Is that what you said? Yeah. Doggy paddlers.
SPEAKER_02I'm not sure what a doggy paddler is, other than trying to dog paddle when you're swimming, which is what I do a lot of when I'm in the pool. But uh so good luck to him. I know that he uh changed positions and I think he's strictly gonna be a pitcher and uh wants to see if he can get in front of some college scouts and uh maybe get get a chance playing college ball somewhere.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we had a chance to talk to him when he was back here working the concessions uh with his mother uh a little bit, and he told me he's uh been popping 90-91 miles an hour on his pitch. So, but I tell you what, what a what a stud catcher. I miss him back there. You know, it's like watching him his clone here in Peyton, you know. It just those guys are just fundamentally just as good a catchers as you're gonna see.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a couple of good kids, great family. Ready to start here. Markowski steps in from the left side. Here's the first pitch by Vickery. That is grounded over to Jonas at first base. He quickly runs over, makes the play unassisted for out number one.
SPEAKER_07That's what Jonas gives us over there at first base, Mike. Jonas is quick. Uh he's ex he's he has just got some quick reflexes. Normally that would have had to been a toss over to the pitcher, and I don't think he would have got him. I think he'd been safe if Jonas didn't sprint over there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I after watching that one, I want to see a race between he and JJ.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Here's a pitch by Vickery. That pitch is hit down the first baseline, fair territory, and Monroe in with a double. Gaswin gets over, cuts that off, throws it back in. But West has a little something going here in the first inning. There's one out. They've got Monroe at second base after the double, and that'll bring the pitcher Frazy to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, nice piece of hitting by Monroe inside out, taking the ball to right field. I don't know how he uh sprinted that fast to second base because I just saw him put down two hot dogs down by the concession stand.
SPEAKER_02That was the energy that he needed.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Vickery comes set, checks back at second base and delivers to the plate. That bounces in there for ball one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Monroe's getting a huge lead over there at second base. Like to see us keep him a little closer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, West coming up, swinging the bat right away. They're not they're not wasting pitches here. Nope. Vickery checks the runner back at second base, delivers, pitches outside. Two balls, no strikes. Monroe at second base, Frazy at the plate, Washburn do up next.
SPEAKER_07Throwing two back-to-back curveballs on the outside corner. Kind of put himself in a hole here.
SPEAKER_02Peyton tells Jackson to step off and let's restart this thing. Come set at the belt. Here's the pitch. Outside, ball three, three balls, no strikes. Again, if you just joined us, Crusaders 1 game one, five to nothing. Complete game for Alex Rodriguez on the mound.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and I'm sure they'd like to get some quality innings from Vickery here, Mike.
SPEAKER_02Jackson checks back to second base, delivers. That ball hit, foul out of play down the first baseline, brings the count to three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Got two and two count. I mean you wanna you wanna keep Monroe back there second. He's getting a huge lead. JJ Hope's over there trying to deke him back.
SPEAKER_02Vickery checks the runner at second.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, nice curveball. That's that curveball he threw the first two pitches and he he missed, missed. Uh got that thing to hang right there on the outside corner. Good pitch by Vickery.
unknownNumber 22.
SPEAKER_02Frazy strikes out looking. That'll bring Washburn to the plate with two outs and a runner at second base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, dangerous hitter. But he had three hits in the first game.
SPEAKER_02Ropes that down to Jonas at first base. Jonas very busy this first inning, unassisted for out number three. West goes quietly in top of the first inning. We'll be back in one minute. Vickery didn't think there were three outs.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Here we are headed at the bottom of the first inning in game number two. Healing will send JJ Hope, Peyton Erickson, and Tommy Carroll to the plate. Quick first, quick top of the first inning for Crusaders. I unofficially have Jackson with eight pitches, first two batters, first pitch swinging. So that helps keep the pitch count low.
SPEAKER_07Well, I think six of those pitches were that uh to the one uh to the second to the last batter there. I think he worked his way to a full count. And so yeah. Well we have nobody in the outfield to chase that ball.
SPEAKER_02Give your neighbor a hard time on that one because that wasn't even in the same area code whenever he threw that back to the pitcher.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he uh I got a chance to talk to him in between games, you know, and and I know he's the opposition, but he is such a good kid, Lane Monroe and and um doing a great job. And uh he's a young kid, only a sophomore. Um gonna be a good one. He's got great fundamentals. Uh he's got an opportunity, and and I talked to him about this of of getting a chance to to play against Peyton Erickson, and he has nothing but you know just high praise for Peyton on on just how good a catcher Peyton is and how he's trying to model himself to be that kind of a catcher. So I thought that was pretty cool, some high praise.
SPEAKER_02Boy, you got a lot of information out of a kid that was sucking down two hot dogs between games.
SPEAKER_07He's yeah, he came by me. But uh Yeah, it's you know, it's a funny thing, you know, the beauty about uh sending your kids to healing and being a healing parent and is the healing kids come from all over town, so sometimes the kids in your neighborhood just happen to go to other schools and you get a chance to know 'em. And he's w one of the ones uh, you know, I always just give his dad a hard time about uh hey you know, I'd love to see a little blue and gold on that kid, you know. So yeah, his dad, Jake, uh good man, really good family.
SPEAKER_02Frazy out here finishing his warmups up. We're waiting for bottom of the first inning to get started here and for JJ Hope to step in. Frazy's got a little bit of a uh arm on him here. He's throwing a little bit harder than Markowski in the first game.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he threw good good against us the last time, Mike. You know, and you got to remember, I mean, he's got a six-something ERA, and yeah, they have played some good teams, obviously. He's he gets to throw against East Healing.
SPEAKER_02Um JJ steps in here to face Frazy. First time up. Here's a pitch.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Boy, you're gonna bond a jump on these first pitch with Frazy.
SPEAKER_02Swings that first pitch, fouls it out of play, misses all the cars in the street.
SPEAKER_07I like that. I don't mind jumping on the first pitch. He's gonna give it to you, and he's gonna throw it right down the tube.
SPEAKER_02JJ steps back in. No balls, one strike. He'll be followed by Erickson and Carroll. Here's the wind up in the pitch. Bounces that in there for ball one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07That ball looked like it had a little stick'em on it because when he threw it, he about hit right in front of the mound.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, not a baseball player, but remind me of Jack Tatum with all the all the stick'em he hit he used to wear. Here's the pitch. That pitch is outside. Two balls, one strike. I guess in baseball it'd be some pine tar.
SPEAKER_07Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up in the pitch. Outside. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Frazy's having a little trouble finding the zone. Uh kind of finding his rhythm. His last two fastballs have been in the dirt outside, and that last curveball is in the dirt.
SPEAKER_02There's the delivery. Outside. I guess that makes it three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. I was looking up at the board. Our board's wrong.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Slow bouncer over the pitcher. Oh, wow. Sure looked like JJ was there, but the umpire says that's not the case. So ground out second to first. One out, that'll bring Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that was a that was a bang banger, and JJ's shaking his head as he's going back. I think he beat it out too, Mike.
unknownPeyton! Erickson!
SPEAKER_02Well, when you've got his speed, you always think that you're safe.
SPEAKER_07Well, a lot of times umpires think that's a routine play, and they're they're ringing them before they actually get a good look.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. Peyton Erickson steps in. One out for the Crusaders, bottom of the first inning. Here's the pitch. Outside, ball one, one ball, no strikes. Crazy long look in here. Yeah, good job by Peyton calls timeout, steps out.
SPEAKER_07I like that.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up and the pitch. Low, an outside ball too. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's really having trouble finding that curveball right now. Making uh Monroe really work.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07What a good pitch by Frazy.
SPEAKER_02Able to foul fight that one off, foul it off towards the West High dugout. Two balls, one strike, Carroll on deck.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he after throwing the first couple of pitches outside to Peyton came back in, jammed him.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up and the pitch. Low for ball three, three balls, one strike. Who's your guess on the courtesy runner if he gets on?
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna go with Heaton.
SPEAKER_02That pitch bounces in there for ball four. Erickson draws the walk.
SPEAKER_07And no C here. Um you got it. Heaton it is.
SPEAKER_02Just like we can you can always count on the healing pitcher hitting a batter in a game. You can count on John calling out the right courtesy runner. Hendrix Heaton over at first base for Peyton. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. See Mary Kay Augustine down the third baseline here, enjoying retirement. Here's first pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike. That pitch bounces in there. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07You know, when I first uh started playing Mike when I was in high school, I mean, going back quite a few years, but we you could only pinch run for the pitcher. I mean, where the guy stayed in the game and could keep coming in. And then let's see, that's gonna get it.
SPEAKER_02Carroll fouls that down the first baseline, falls to the ground harmlessly.
SPEAKER_07And then they s they they decided to start allowing the pinch uh the pinch runner for the catcher and the pitcher, and I like it because it speeds the game up. Uh you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the catcher can get in and get his gear on. Here's the pitch. Just off the plate.
SPEAKER_07Two balls, two strikes. Yeah, good job by Tommy holding up there. Inside corner pitch.
SPEAKER_02Dylan Knapp awaits his opportunity.
SPEAKER_07And hit him. There we go.
SPEAKER_02So now we've got runners at first and second.
SPEAKER_07Situation baseball, Mike. I know I've been saying it all season, but here we go.
SPEAKER_02Heaton trots down to second. Tommy Carroll at first on the hit by pitch. That'll bring Dylan Knapp to the plate here in the bottom of the first. No score.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, baseball is is such a it's such a crazy sport. It's such a game within the game. Now you've got to start thinking about what what kind of moves is Healing gonna do here.
SPEAKER_02Third baseman's back pretty far. Here's a pitch. Way inside to Dylan for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Checks runner second. Here's a pitch. Just misses ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Two Crusaders on with one out. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high, gets over the catcher's head. All the runners will advance one base. So now Healan's got two runners in scoring positions, second and third with one out.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, how huge is that? Now now anything, anything that gets through the infield, we we score two runs. You got you got good speed on the base paths.
SPEAKER_02Three balls, no strikes to Dylan. Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's it's time for Dylan to put one of those patented uh gappers in there where he's running for three.
SPEAKER_02Frazy checks the runners. Here's the pitch. That's high for ball four. That'll load the bases with Crusaders. Brings Nathan Gaswint to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the umpire behind the plate this game is Sam Roberts uh and Kevin McGregor out on the bases this game. Kevin McGregor called a good game in the first one. We might have disagreed on a couple of those outside ones, but overall, great game by Kevin McGregor.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's trouble. Popped up. Get out of here.
SPEAKER_02Oh, falls harmlessly to the ground. First baseman overruns it, not able to make the catch. So it'll be no balls, one strike to Nathan.
SPEAKER_07I mean, you've got to make that play. If you're a West coach, you've got to make that play.
SPEAKER_02Well, now you got to make them pay for not getting that second out there.
SPEAKER_07And we've seen this time and time again. I just saw it in the College World Series. And uh matter of fact, I'm trying to is it North was it the Oklahoma game? That guy uh guy missed missed one and and and Oklahoma puts it three, four runs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, don't don't bring up Bad memories there, John. I know. Here's a pitch. That pitch is high. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that was just an absolute beatdown last night, wasn't it? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I I turned it off in the fourth inning. Being a Longhorn fan, I couldn't I couldn't take the Sooners having that much fun. Man. My son Matt was there. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's a great crowd. Great night for baseball. And I, you know, no it was just one of those games. North Carolina just Oklahoma had a hot game.
SPEAKER_02There's a pitch to Nathan. That pitch is low. Two balls, two strikes, one out, two runners on. Yeah, nowhere to put him. Three runners on. Jonas Jensen do up next.
SPEAKER_07Nathan is a really good two-strike hitter, so.
SPEAKER_02Struck out looking for out number two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's a tough pitch. That was a good pitch by Frazy. That was a tough pitch to hit, even if he would have swung.
SPEAKER_02Jonas steps in here from the left side.
unknownNumber three.
SPEAKER_04Jonas. Jensen.
SPEAKER_02Base is full of Crusaders with two outs here in the bottom of the first inning. Here's the first pitch. That pitch is in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Beckett Blatchford is due up next.
SPEAKER_07Big opportunity for Jonas. Base is loaded.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. High. One ball, one strike. This would be huge for Wes if they can get out of this without giving up any runs. Here's the pitch to Jonas. He fouls that one back. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I can notice he's really doing a lot better job keeping that head down, keeping it in.
SPEAKER_02I think it's mom down here in front of us getting some video of the at-bat. Here's the windup in the pitch. That one gets away.
SPEAKER_07That's gonna get a guy in.
SPEAKER_02Just pass the pitcher. Here comes another run. Crusaders score two on that pass ball. Hendricks Heaton scores, and Tommy Carroll scores from second.
SPEAKER_07Great job by Tommy recognizing that. Heads up.
SPEAKER_02And Dillon, I'll manufacture my way around the bases. He goes from first to third on that pass ball and overthrow to the pitcher. Here's the pitch. That pitch bounces in there. Three balls, two strikes. Runner at third, two outs. Crusaders have pushed two runs across here in the bottom of the first. They lead two to nothing. Jonas with the chance to drive in another run here. Here's the pitch. That's ball four. Jonas walks. Runners at first and third with two outs. That'll bring Blatchford to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, a chance to open this game up right now with Blatchford. You know, right now would be a perfect time, Mike. I mean, with Blatchford up, you got you got speed at third. Do that delayed double steal here. I would love to see a coach Taylor over there at third call this one.
SPEAKER_02As my wife says, you and I are spending way too much time together, John, because that's the first thing I thought of as Beckett was walking up there. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Oh.
SPEAKER_02When we start finishing each other's sentences, and we know it's time to take a break. Pitch on the outside corner for strike two.
SPEAKER_07You know, right now, I mean, let's do it. I mean, do it right now. And then you worst case scenario, you got Beckett leading off next inning.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No balls, two strikes. Runners at first and third for the Crusaders, two outs. They lead two to nothing. There goes Jonas. Beckett tried to poke that down the third baseline.
SPEAKER_07So I'd like to see Jonas go back right now and just get that lead off again and then just kind of take off. And make the pitch or make a move. Yeah, just get yourself in a double play and get that run across.
SPEAKER_02There goes Jonas. Bladchford swinging a miss for strike three. That will retire the side for the Crusaders in the bottom of the first. They push two runs across. We head to the top of the second. Crusaders two, West 0. We'll catch you back here in 60.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Heading into the top of the second, Crusaders lead two to nothing. West will send the five, six, and seven hitters to the plate. Barker, Coyle, and Vall.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, just a really good first inning for Healing. Manufacturing two runs out of that thing, uh two outs, uh all done on a pass ball, or excuse me, a wild pitch by the pitcher. Monroe throws it back to home, ball slides under the pitcher's glove, goes back into the infield, and what heads-up running by Tommy Carroll. Um I know we talk about Tommy not flashy. Tommy's just a consistent, just a good all-around baseball player, and he recognized that, scored. So great job by Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. Here's the first pitch inside for ball one. For those of you who may not have seen the news today, they announced that the Iowa men will be coming to Sioux City to play Virginia Tech on November 10th. That is two huge NCAA games in Sioux City in the span of about five days. On November 15th, the Iowa women will take on Vanderbilt at the Tyson Event Center. So congratulations to the folks down at the Tyson Event Center for being able to bring some of those quality events. Oh, that's trouble. That ball is hit foul down the third baseline.
SPEAKER_07Well, he turned on that one.
SPEAKER_02He did turn on that one.
SPEAKER_07Did you have anything to do with that, Mike? Any were you involved with that at all?
SPEAKER_02I I was not involved with that, but you know, we're coming up on year number 30 for NAI basketball to be here in Sioux City, and I've been fortunate enough to work on that committee and be a part of that since it started in 98, and I didn't do anything the first year because I didn't think it'd be good basketball, but uh got involved in 99 and and Corey Western and I kind of took things over and right around the time that we got volleyball in in 2008, and it's just been a blast. And uh we like to think that you know the success of those things. Here's the pitch. Two balls, one strike. The success of that uh has helped us be able to bring in uh other events, and you know, we've got we've got NAI volleyball this year, it'll be 20 years for that. And uh but just great work by the folks at the Tyson Event Center. I mean, I I know for sure that they got they took the women's game from the Sanford Center up in Sioux Falls, and I'm guessing that this is probably along the same lines. And uh there's been a lot of work over the years of trying to get something like that in Sioux City, and it's always just kind of uh hasn't materialized, but this year it has, and and hopefully it'll continue uh to help us get some really good things here in town.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I guess it's just just great get for the for the Sioux City. Got a two and two count here. Yeah, just uh absolutely great get.
SPEAKER_02Got him for strike three.
SPEAKER_07Beautiful curveball in the outside corner. I know we got talking about that a little bit. Uh but I mean just some exciting things going on in Sioux City, Iowa. Uh the Tyson Events Center. I mean, it's just a it's a great venue. It'll be a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it will. They almost sold out the women's game on uh the first day the tickets went on sale, so hopefully uh they we Sioux City will get the same response for the men's game. First pitch to Coyle is a ball, one ball, no strikes. He'll be followed by Vol. Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled back. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Vickery's really starting to find his groove. Uh Peyton's doing a good job working that outside corner. And uh first inning, Vickery had a little trouble find it, and now he's just pinpointing it there. Good job.
SPEAKER_02There's a wind up by Vickery in the pitch. Another one, another good breaking ball for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Barker struck out to start the inning. Here's the pitch by Jackson. That's lined right out to Mr. Consistency. Yeah. JJ Hope at shortstop.
SPEAKER_07Kind of like to see uh some ground balls over to the third base side here. Kind of see like see what Cal can do at third base.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'd like to see uh since he's back at his natural position, I'd like to like to see him start pepper in third base here, folks. Let's see what uh Cal can do from over there. That pitch just inside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Boy, it just missed. Nice pitch. And good call by Peyton. I like that. Set him up inside.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Yeah. Outside corner for strike one, one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, for those of you that aren't here, and Peyton lineup inside, just miss, go back on the outside corner. Now you got the batter guessing.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. That pitch is hit out to left field. Tommy Carroll goes back. Beat on it. Able to settle under it for out number three. West goes quietly here in inning number two. Three up, three down. We'll head to the bottom of the second. Crusaders lead two to nothing. We'll be back in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Back here at Bishop Mueller Field heading the bottom of the second. Crusaders lead two to nothing. They'll send Vickery Beck and then the back to the top of the order, and JJ Hope talking during the break. Healing scored two runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. They had three walks and a hit by pitch to manufacture those two runs.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Frazy did had a little trouble finding the zone, obviously walk three guys. I mean, that was the damage with the three walks. And there again, it doesn't matter how you get on, it's that you get on. So yeah, granted, we didn't get a hit, but you put the runners in position, they make a mistake, and we capitalized.
SPEAKER_02First pitch to Jackson, high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch. The pitch is high for ball two, two balls, no strikes. This pitcher likes that s this umpire likes that same outside corner that we did in the first game. That pitch is in there for strike one. Two balls, one strike. That pitch way outside. Three and one.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the thing about that is, I mean, if you're uh a pitcher that can hit your spots, I mean, and once you recognize that, you just keep going back to the back to the well.
SPEAKER_02That pitch right down the heart of the plate for strike two. Three balls, two strikes. Pitch just foul back. Jackson steps back in. And the pitch. That was about as far outside as it could get for strike three. Yeah, out number one. That'll bring back to the plate. Well, that was a that was a foot or two in the end of the left-handed batter's box.
SPEAKER_07I mean, it's just uh you teach your kid to have good eye and then you know you can't fault him for that. I mean, you can't that technically that should have been ball four, he should should have been on first base. So it's one of those tough things. But if he's gonna call this outside corner, Mike, you gotta again, it's like beating a dead horse here, you gotta come up and you gotta make the the adjustments. You gotta step a little closer to the plate. Um because the pitcher, he's a good athlete, knows how to spot it, and Monroe's smart enough as a catcher. I'm gonna keep going to that well. Just gonna keep going back in the outside corner.
SPEAKER_02One ball, two strikes to count to Chase. Here's the pitch. Inside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. He'll be followed by JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_07I can get Chase going here again.
SPEAKER_02Swing and a miss for strike three. Two strikeouts in the inning for Frazy. That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate. He grounded out second to first the first time up. Just they just got him at first base that first time up.
SPEAKER_07Well, think about JJ, he gets on here. We got two outs. I think he he gets on. You know, you can almost count on him somehow finding a way to get himself to third.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. First pitch. Inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. There's the pitch by Frazy. Outside ball two, two balls, no strikes. Peyton Erickson, do up next. Wind up in the pitch. In there for strike one. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good pitch on the outside corner. Good patience by JJ.
SPEAKER_02And the pitch. Grounded out to short. Throw over in time for out number three. Crusaders grow three up, three down in the bottom of the second. We'll head to the top of the third. Crusaders lead two to nothing. See you back here in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back, everybody. We head to the top of the third inning. Crusaders lead this one two to nothing. West will send Cherkis Wolf and then back to the top of the order, Markowski.
SPEAKER_07Yes, some more of our sponsors for Bishop Healing Baseball, Mills, Shellhammer, and Pitts, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Mollett Industrial Group, My Jeweler, Myra Favors State Farm Agency, Neil Pfeiffer, KOC Insurance Agency Agent, New Crib Inspection, People's Bank of Sioux City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace Trinity Heights, Ruley Family Chiropractic, Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Siouxland and Sioux Body Shop. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Heelum Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_02Eighth place hitter for West steps in Cherkis. Vickery unofficially at 23 pitches for the through the first two innings. First pitch, swing and a miss, strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Vickery's not trying to overpower him. He's throwing uh decent speed, nice strikes, starting to hit his corners.
SPEAKER_02Pitch. Lines at the second baseman, Chase Beck, able to make the catch for out number one. And that will bring up Wolf.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, perfect position by Chase. I mean he just gets such a good jump on the ball.
SPEAKER_04Number six.
SPEAKER_02Wolf. Wolf over three in the first game. Foul's that first pitch off. No balls, one strike. Jackson with the wind up in the pitch. That lined out to center field. Dylan not able to make the catch, dives for it, catches it on the hop. So Wolf reaches on a single. That'll put a runner at first with one out, and that'll bring Markowski to the plate.
SPEAKER_07A great jump by Dillon. They even make a chance at that play. I thought that thing was down easy, and he almost caught that.
SPEAKER_02That's first hit of the game for either team.
SPEAKER_07Didn't Lane get that double down the down the first base line?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're right. Second hit. Here's the pitch. Squares to bunt. And it hit him.
SPEAKER_07Wait a second there. He was squared. Coach Wesselman's coming. Oh yeah. They call him foul ball.
SPEAKER_18No.
SPEAKER_07Coach Wesselman, I don't he he was squared to bunt. That ball hit him, but his bat was squared to bunt. That's a strike.
SPEAKER_02They're bringing him back.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I saw Coach Wesselman come out, but I'm like, and that's the right call. He's saying I got hit. Well, yeah, he did get hit, but his when he squared, he never brought the bat he never brought the bat back in.
SPEAKER_02So no balls one strike to Markowski. When Roe is due up next, Markowski right up on that plate. Throw over to first, not in time. Wolf able to dive back in. Vickery checks runner at first, delivers the plate, squares again. Strike two. Throw down to first. They've got him in a rundown. And he is out. Wolf caught in the rundown for out number two.
SPEAKER_07Great job by Peyton. Caught him off ballast over there and got him in the in that pickle. That was awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was great play by everybody out there. Your typical 2-1-4. 2-1-4.
SPEAKER_07Yep.
SPEAKER_02Victory concentrate on the batter here. No balls, two strikes. That pitch high and outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Here's the pitch. Way outside ball two. Two balls, two strikes. We've seen a little bit of everything in this doubleheader.
SPEAKER_07Well, we really have.
SPEAKER_02West able to get a runner on, unable to get anybody across. Three up, three down for West High in the top of the third. We'll head to the bottom of the third. Crusaders lead two to nothing. We'll be back in 60.

SPEAKER_00You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Honka Sioux City, and KOIA Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_02We're back as we head to the bottom of the third. Crusaders push two runs across in the first inning and they lead this one two to nothing. Softball update. Healan will send Erickson, Carroll, and Knapp to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I was just looking at the uh last game and um and then of course this game, and I'm just thinking Coach Neem has just got to be just besides himself a little bit on the base running uh of the Wolverines. They've actually in the two games so far have out hit us ten to eight. It was even from what I counted eight eight hits apiece in the first game, two hits in this game, but it's what you do with the hits, and and we've just been able to manufacture runs you know in situations where they haven't.
SPEAKER_02First pitch, yeah, healing able to push two runs across without the benefit of a base hit. First pitch to Erickson. Outside.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good eye so far. Frazies kind of this is what he does. He comes out, he kind of throws wild, wild, and then he gets back in the groove.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Peyton grounds that out to Markowski at short. Over to first for out number one. That'll bring up Tommy Carroll, who was hit by a pitch the first time up and scored a run.
SPEAKER_07Now batting for the Tommy uh like to see him get some pitches to swing at here. Like to see him start uh getting that stroke back at line drives where he's hitting those singles, those frozen rope singles.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch that bounces in there for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Dylan Knapp is due up next. Pitch by Frazy. That one bounces in there as well, two balls, no strikes. At pitch way outside. Ball three, three balls, no strikes. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07That would have been a great pitch to hit. Um I'm sure Tommy didn't have the green light there.
SPEAKER_02Frazy with the delivery. Bounces that one in there for ball four. Carroll on base for the second time. And that will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Here we go. One out. Got uh good base runner with some decent wheels at first base. And he got a number 22. He got a gap hitter in Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_02First pitch to Dylan bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Nathan Gassman, do up next.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Tommy's really done a nice job getting on base. He's got coming into the game, he had a 449 on base percentage. He's definitely up that today.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss by Dillon for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, nice pitch on the inside corner by Frazy. Dillon just underneath it.
SPEAKER_02Frazi working quickly with the pitch. Bounces that one in there. Two balls, one strike. Crusaders still without a hit, but they lead two to nothing. Frazy long look. That ball hit right back up the middle. That'll put runners at first and second with one out and bring Nathan Gaswin to the plate. That's a first hit for the Crusaders in this game.
SPEAKER_07That's just vintage, Dylan Knapp. You know, he when you're a catcher and you're trying to figure him out, like you would think he's a pole hitter because he just takes a massive swing on the first one. But he is such a great job of keeping his weight back and just doing uh, you know, bringing those hands through the through the plate and following it with the barrel. Inside out hitting.
SPEAKER_02First pitch to Nathan bounces in there for ball one. Nathan struck out looking his first time up.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we got something going on here. I mean, we got some good speed.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one, one ball, one strike. Jonas Jensen is due up next.
SPEAKER_07Don't usually fool Nathan twice, so.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Just gets a piece of that, fouls it back. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07That's a good pitch by Frazy coming up on the fist of uh Nathan on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_02Checks Carroll at second base, deals to the plate. Inside. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's where I would pitch Nathan. If I'm catching, I'd be coming inside on him, and that's just how I'm telling you that.
SPEAKER_02Long look back to second, and the pitch bounces in there. There we go. Ball gets away from the catcher. Runners are able to advance. Crusaders have runners at second and third now. One out. Full count to Nathan Gaswent. Vickery checks back to second base and the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Hit right up the middle. Nice job of hitting by Nathan Gaswent. That's gonna score two runs. Gaswent with the two RBI single. Healing now leads this one four to nothing here in the bottom of the third, and that will bring Jonas Jensen to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Isn't that just vintage, Nathan Gaswin? I mean, you never fool him twice, and he does such a great job with two strikes, Mike, and taking that ball inside out right up the middle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's he's hard to pin down. You never know which direction he's gonna go with it.
SPEAKER_07No, no.
SPEAKER_02Jonas squares, doesn't get the bat back in time. Strike one. You know, we've seen uh Nathan take off here and that pitch is way outside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Yeah, Nathan's not one that you would normally think is gonna steal a base, but he's got the saptive speed though.
SPEAKER_07I mean he he gets good jumps.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Right down the middle for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Crazy with the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Jonas grounds that out to short. Throws it wildly to second base. Gaswin's gonna hustle down to third.
SPEAKER_07Good piece of running by Nathan.
SPEAKER_02We've got runners at first and third here. Two runs already across for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_07Murkowski didn't just lose the ball. He cleaned, you know, he fielded that clean. And when he went to throw it, I just think he lost it off his hand.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it I think it slipped out of his hand. Crusaders lead this one four to nothing. We're in the bottom of the third. Beckett Blatchford steps in. He struck out his first time up.
SPEAKER_07It's time for one of those uh worm digger ropes that uh Beckett hits.
SPEAKER_02Frazy with the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls one strike. Jackson Vickery do up next.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, a really good chance for the bottom of our order to do some damage here. Pitch.
SPEAKER_02Gets that down to third base. They're gonna throw over to first to get that out. Gaswin's able to score from third. That'll make the score five to nothing, Crusaders.
SPEAKER_07Good good jump by Nathan coming home. That should have been a play at home base by the third baseman, but I think he thought he was too far down the line.
SPEAKER_04Jackson Vickery.
SPEAKER_02Jackson Vickery steps in. Jonas able to get down to second base on that last play. Pitch by Frazy at pitch foul back. One ball, one strike. Again, we'll be back on the air Thursday from Sergeant Bluff. Pregame 515. First pitch 530. Here's the pitch. Bounces in there for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Crusaders 19-9 on the season, 16-5 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. One game lead over Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln. That grounded right back to the pitcher. And that will do it for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the third. They push three runs across. They lead this one five to nothing. We'll head to the top of the fourth and be waiting for you in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_02Never get cheated on topping the Jerry. Crusaders lead this one five to nothing. North will send Monroe, Frazy, and Washburn to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we got uh get a few more sponsors in here while we got a chance, Mike. Two body shop of Sioux City, Sioux City Musketeers, Sioux City Sprinkler, Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, Sneakies Chicken, Soho Kitchen and Bar, St. Augustine Indian Mission, Staber Meats, Sunnybrook Dental, Tim and Lisa Swedeen, Tri-State Dental Care, Vance Thompson Vision, SC Prof LLC, Wall of Fame, Graphics Incorporated, Wilmus Do It Best Hardware, Sioux City and South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Ren's Plumbing and Heating Incorporated, Sioux City, Iowa. Thank you so much for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_02Monroe will step in. Thanks again to Grace Tot back in the studio for running the board and keeping us on the air. And Ann Reid. She's awesome. Good evening. Hope you're enjoying your evening in a little Healing Baseball. And thanks to you and Tim, uh John and I are able to bring these games to you. First pitch to Monroe is a ball. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07I mean, couldn't ask for a better night. Uh just beautiful baseball weather.
SPEAKER_02Pitch high for ball two. Yeah, this would be a good night to be out sitting along the fence calling the game.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, there's you know, we got a great crowd out there. I'm looking down the third baseline, a lot of people up there. I'm sure the LaFleurs, Dan. Dan, uh, if you're out there watching your grandson, big shout out to Dan. Uh yeah, that's just a lot of fun, and no better place to be than out here and watching a baseball game.
SPEAKER_02Three balls, no strikes to Monroe. Frazy, do up next. Here's pitch. That pitch is low for ball four. Four-pitch walk to Monroe. That will put a runner at first base with no outs, and Frazy will step in.
SPEAKER_07That's where you don't want to lose any pep. I mean, as a pitcher, you just got to keep your momentum going. You gotta stay jacked up a little bit. Yeah, take a deep breath in here and and and get back doing what you were doing the first three innings.
SPEAKER_02Victory checks the runner, comes set.
SPEAKER_07There it is.
SPEAKER_02First pitch in there for strike one. One ball, or no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I like that pitch. Curveball in the outside corner.
unknownThe pitcher, number nine, Allen Brazy.
SPEAKER_02Washmer in the first base will be due up next. Here's a pitch.
SPEAKER_07That's gonna be trouble.
SPEAKER_02Slow roller to Geez at third. We get our chance here. Great play by Cal Gesey to get the out at first base. That was a close one, and he was able to get it over there and get it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that was a tough play by Cal, but he got it out of his glove quick. Cal's got that vintage. I love his glove, that vintage infielder's glove. It's not real big and able to get that ball quickly out of it. Doesn't get stuck way down in there.
SPEAKER_02And I'm gonna I'm gonna guess that if you ask Cal, he's gonna tell you there's no tough play for him. That was uh that was a good one. First pitch in there for a ball.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, dangerous hitter here in Washburn. He we've seen him tag a couple of them.
SPEAKER_02One ball, no strikes. Monroe at second base, Crusaders lead five to nothing here in the top of the fourth. Check of the runner at second and the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, help me tag that one.
SPEAKER_02Lines that sharply out to right field. And I was kind of hoping that your neighbor would try to score on that one, see what kind of arm Nathan's got.
SPEAKER_07Kind of at first, I didn't couldn't tell if Nathan lost that thing or what. That sun has got to be right in his eyes right now.
SPEAKER_02It is. I think he was he's doing what a lot of these outfielders have done this game is make it look like he can't see it. Yeah, hoping that runner will fall for the kind of deke them a little bit. Runners at first and third here with one out for the Wolverines. That'll bring Barker to the plate. He struck out his first time up. Comes set and the pitch. High for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Coil due up next. Time for the pitcher's best friend double play here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we got a force out at second.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled back weakly into the net. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07I mean we got a five-nothing lead. We're in the in the top of the fourth. This run at third really doesn't mean much, so your infields at regulation. Looking for the double play up the middle would be ideal, obviously. But either way, we take that force.
SPEAKER_02That pitch pop back foul for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Saturday in the park coming up a week from Saturday.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, another great event Sioux City puts on.
SPEAKER_02Vickery checks runner at third. Here's a pitch. That's lined out to Dillon in center. Tries to make a diving catch and unable to make it. Monroe will score from third to make a score five to one.
SPEAKER_07Boy, I thought he had it. He had it looked like he had it in his glove, and then when he hit the ground, it popped out. Great effort.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that'll put runners at first and second with one out. West has pushed one run across here. That'll bring coil to the plate. Yeah, this year they're gonna have fireworks. Then they're gonna have a huge drone show. And then they're gonna end it with more fireworks. So uh something new, a big celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_07I think they have three bands as well.
SPEAKER_02I can't uh remember the names of them, but I can tell you here whenever we've got uh another minute between pitches, like we do right now, with national anthem at noon, then it's Moondogs at 12.05, Chris Lager at 1245, Joanna Connor at 2, Bonbon Vivant 315, then Evan Honor at 445, and uh Marcus King Band 645 and Joe Bonamasa at 850, and seen a couple videos of Marcus and and Joe, and uh looks like they're gonna put on quite a show.
SPEAKER_07Well, tell you how old I am, I didn't hardly know any of those names.
SPEAKER_02I I don't know any of them either. And and that's the thing about it, is Dave and his people go out and they get some they get some people that you have never heard of, and it's some of the best music that you'll hear. I mean, we've had fits in the tantrums here. And you know, nobody knew those guys, and and they were like mid-afternoon uh act, and and they were one of my favorites. I mean, it's it's just amazing some of these uh lesser known groups and and singers that he's able to bring in here and turn them into household names. That first pitch into coil for strike one, no balls one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the funny thing is is though then you go to the kids, my kids, and they'll say, Come on, you've never heard of them? Oh, have you never heard of them?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, give me, you know, BB King and those guys. I I know all them, Aretha.
SPEAKER_07Franklin, I know those people, but nice pitch.
SPEAKER_02Second pitch in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good job by Vickery coming back on this one here. Just got him down 0-2. Now he's got to be smart. Peyton. Peyton looking like he's going on that down. Well. Long look in.
SPEAKER_02Check the runner at second. There's a pitch. That's grounded off Vickery's glove. That's going to load the bases. Jackson tried to jump up and field that and wasn't able to do it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's too bad. He doesn't touch that ball. I don't think we get a double play, but we definitely got to play it first or second.
SPEAKER_02Yep, so bases loaded here for the Wolverines in the top of the fourth. They've already pushed one run across. Healing leads this one five to nothing currently. We're going to have a meeting out at the mound. So yeah, I'm I'm anxious to see uh the drone show. I've seen like some video of what it possibly could be, and it's it's I think it's gonna be worth sticking around for. Fortunately, I live close enough. If I want to leave early, I can just go to the top of the hill and I can just watch it from far away.
SPEAKER_07I you know, I haven't gone in a few years, but a lot of times my wife will just drop me off because she does not like to go and deal with the crowd, and uh and then she'll just pick me up right there at Grandview Park.
SPEAKER_02So you've you've got built-in Uber at your house then.
SPEAKER_07I haven't gone for a few years. Just uh you know, I like the last time I went, uh I I hate to say it, but uh it wasn't BB. Yeah, I think it was. It might have been BB King was playing. It's been a long time since you've been then, too. It has been a few years.
SPEAKER_02It's time you get out and support these events in Sioux City.
SPEAKER_07Here we go, double play ball.
SPEAKER_02Grounded out.
SPEAKER_07Oh no, no, no.
SPEAKER_02Chase tried to scoop that over to JJ at second base to try to start the double play and bounces off JJ's gloves, so that'll score another run. And West still has the bases loaded with only one out. The score is five to two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Chase Chase popped that thing up, and JJ tried to come across him bare-handed as he came across and just bobbled it out of his hand.
unknownNumber 10.
SPEAKER_07Would have been a great double play.
SPEAKER_02That'll bring Cherkis to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Uh he got it. We got it uh got to put out the fire here right now.
SPEAKER_02Pickery checks the runner at third. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Scoop. Good scoop by Peyton.
SPEAKER_02Low and up outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07I could say it till I'm blue in the face. I mean, we're so blessed to have a catcher like Peyton back there. Who can control these pitchers?
SPEAKER_02Pickery takes a long look. Checks the runners on the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike. I mean, if nothing else, even if you're not interested in the music at Saturday in the park, you go to watch. Go people watch.
SPEAKER_07Wow. That can be.
SPEAKER_02That's that pitch is fouled off. One ball, two strikes. Wolf is due up next.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's a big out here. I mean, in all honesty, his last two two batters, ground balls really right back up the middle. One he hits it with his glove and the other just goes over his head. I mean, he's he's doing his job getting manufacturing ground balls for double plays.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Good pitch. Swing and a miss, strike three. That's out number two for the Wolverines here in the top of the fourth. And that will bring Wolf to the plate. He was he singled and was forced out at second. His only time up. Again, the base is loaded for the Wolverines. They've pushed two runs across here in the top of the fourth. They trail this from five to two. First pitch.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, a little high.
SPEAKER_02High for ball one. One ball, no strikes. This is the eighth batter in the inning for the Wolverines. One ball, one strike. Just fouled off at the plate. I've got him unofficially at 52 pitches, so he's well well below where there needs to be some concern, but with the bases loaded here, it's little nervous over in the heel and dugout, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we should have been out of this inning.
SPEAKER_02Here's a pitch by Jackson. That's lined out to Dillon in center. He's on his horse.
SPEAKER_01Oh man.
SPEAKER_02Great over-the-head catch. That was just short of a Willie Mays catch there, folks. That was quite a play by Dillon. I thought it was going to be completely over his head. That's out number three. Wolverines push two across. We'll head to the bottom of the fourth. Crusaders five. West two. We'll see you back here in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02That last play by Dylan with the highlight would be as hot as coffee from Council Oak.
SPEAKER_07Good one. That's a good plug, Mike.
SPEAKER_02Well, we did we we just had it. We'll double up. We've doubled up on Sneaky several times and it hasn't done us any good. We haven't got chicken from him, but one of these times they're gonna surprise us, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_07Council Oaks one. I love going there. Just what a great atmosphere. I love that building. Yeah, folks, it we're not joking when we say one of the one of the better one of the better plays we've seen all year. Uh Dylan just had a great jump on that thing and just beeline made it look routine, but let me tell you, it was anything but routine. That was awesome.
SPEAKER_02Chase Beck will step in here to lead off the bottom of the go, Chase. Chase singles singles out the left field. Get things started for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_07That's just what Chase needed right there. Jumped all over it. I'd like to see him doing that more. Great job.
SPEAKER_02That'll bring JJ Hope to the plate. He'll be followed by Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, JJ's just missed the last two of bats, hit it right to the short.
SPEAKER_02Quick throw over. Chase gets back just in time.
SPEAKER_07You know, I mean, these guys aren't dumb. They face JJ a lot. He's a great hit and run.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. He squares, pulls back, pitches high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Third baseman decides maybe I can come in a few steps.
SPEAKER_07Well, yeah, JJ, if he lays that down, he's laying it down for a hit, not not a not a sacrifice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, here's the pitch. Pitches high, gets away from the catcher. There we go. Chase will head down to second base. Crusaders have a runner at second with no outs. Two balls, no strikes to JJ Hope.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that thing just, I don't know. You know, I've seen a couple of those pop out of uh Lane's glove. I want almost wondering if that thing has broken enough.
SPEAKER_02Here's a pitch. Boom. Hit hard out in the left field. That's gonna score Chase Beck from second base. JJ Hope heading for second. Slides in there safely. JJ Hope with the RBI double. Chase Beck scores, makes a score six to two Crusaders, and that'll bring Peyton Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Here we go, Mike. We talk about being aggressive with uh Frazy on those first couple pitches. And your last two at batters, I mean they didn't waste any time. They're taking that pitch. Frazy's giving it to them. His first, you know, first one, two pitches, he's grooving that fastball right down the middle.
SPEAKER_02Here's first pitch outside for ball one. Peyton's dad doing a great job on the PA here at Briar Cliff tonight for this game. Getting me a little amped up over here.
SPEAKER_07I gotta ask him if he's the one who taught these boys how to catch, because man, they've done a great job fundamentally as good as we've seen in a long time.
SPEAKER_02Here's pitch at pitches high for ball two, two balls, no strikes. JJ Hope out at second base with the RBI double. Tommy Carroll is due up after Peyton. Here's the pitch at pitches high, ball three, three balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's had a really good eye tonight.
SPEAKER_02Walked his first time up and grounded out short to first his last time up. Checks runner at second and the pitch at pitches high. Four pitch walk. Puts runners at first and second with no outs, and that will bring Tommy Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we got Heaton going out there to run for Peyton. So and again, you know, I mean a walk, it's just as good as a hit. Doesn't matter how you get on over there. I look my first look is always at the on-base percentage over the average because I want to see who's getting on and who's not.
SPEAKER_02Pitch on the outside corner for strike one. A little bit of a delayed call there by the umpire.
SPEAKER_07No balls, one strike. One of those borderline ones might have been a little bit outside, but pitch by Frazy.
SPEAKER_02That's grounded right back up to the pitcher. He turns, throws to first. They get the double play. JJ Hope advances to third base on that.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good turn turned by West there.
SPEAKER_02So two down for the Crusaders.
unknownNow batting for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_02That will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate.
unknownDylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Dylan broke up no hitters last bat. Ripped that ball up the middle.
SPEAKER_02First pitch in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. JJ Hope down at third base.
SPEAKER_07Oh, you got speed at the speed at third.
SPEAKER_02Pitch.
SPEAKER_07I just missed it.
SPEAKER_02Dylan pops that out of play. Foul. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07I've seen him do that so many times on his first swing. He's got that swinging for the fence. And then he comes back and just strokes it. I can see him do that again here.
SPEAKER_02Dylan has walked and singled and scored a run. Swinging a miss, strike two. One ball, two strikes. Nathan Gass went his due up next. Here's the pitch. Fouled off out of play. Count remains. One ball, two strikes. Frazy doing a really good job here. He's always around the plate.
SPEAKER_07Boy, he really is.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Center fielder under it for out number three. That will retire the side. Crusaders able to push one run across here in the bottom of the fourth. We'll head to the fifth. Crusaders lead 6-2. Come back in 60.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02We are heading back to the top of the fifth inning. West will send the top of the order to the plate. Markowski, Monroe, and Frazy. Healing leads this one six to two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we still got Vickery on the line uh on the mound here going Mike and I'm sure Coach has just tickled pink. I mean, he's gonna get five. I my my guess is he can get a complete game out of uh out of Vickery, too. I mean, this is just icing on the cake, but part of me, I know that they'd like to see maybe Gaswin throw a little bit tonight. Um, because I don't think he's going Thursday. I think he's going Saturday.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's going Saturday in the game against Carlisle.
SPEAKER_07I think they'd like to get him a little bit of work in tonight. Um, so we'll see. We'll see if Vickery goes to full seven.
SPEAKER_02Markowski steps in from the left side.
SPEAKER_07We've got a little delay here. Something's going on here. Here we go. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Waiting to come back from TV timeout.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I I gave him the wave.
SPEAKER_02First pitch inside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Nice call by Peyton inside corner.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they must have thought Game Changer had commercials waiting for the one ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Again, just a beautiful night up here. Uh out at Sister St. Francis Field on the Briarcliff campus.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Outside ball two. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Just a beautiful setting, you know, sitting on the foothill. The only thing that'd be better is if we could someday get lights out here. Oh, nice rip.
SPEAKER_02That is hit out to Jonas at first base. He takes it unassisted for out number one. And that will bring Munro to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Jonas really does make it look easy over there at first base. He just really really fields his position well.
SPEAKER_02Monroe has doubled, walked his last time up, and scored a run.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's had a good night. I think he had a couple hits in the first game and double n swing and a miss, strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_02Frazy the pitchers, do up next. See his mom down there along the third baseline. Pitch breaks in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Kind of lobbed it in there and it broke at the end.
SPEAKER_02Oh, caught him looking for strike three. That's out number two for the Wolverines here in the top of the fifth inning. That'll bring Frazy to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Folks, that's exactly what you do, you know. Great job by Vickery. Changed the speed up on that curveball on the second pitch, and then came back and threw a hard curve on the third one to really, really confuse him and got him looking.
SPEAKER_02Wind up by Vickery. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I tried to do that same thing, but didn't break on that one.
SPEAKER_02Jackson with the wind up in the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Vickery's really in his groove right now.
SPEAKER_02Starts his wind up, deals, bounces that one in there for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Washburn would be due up next.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's big out. I I'd rather have Washburn leading off than anybody in on base or in his in-scoring position because he's got enough power to get that thing in the gap or over the outfielder's head.
SPEAKER_02That pitch outside for ball three, three balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. Bounces that one in there. Frazy draws the walk. West has a runner at first with two outs, and that'll bring Washburn to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Number 22. Washburn.
SPEAKER_02Deals to the plate. Breaks that one in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Nice job. Backdoor curve ball coming from the outside. Breaking on the inside of the plate.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Fouled off at the plate for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07I like it. Same pitch. Good backdoor curve. First one broke and caught the outside corner. Second one broke and comes on the inside corner. Come back with that same pitch. Outside corner.
SPEAKER_02Vickery with the pitch.
SPEAKER_07There it is.
SPEAKER_02Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Washburn strikes out looking to end the inning. West has strands a runner at first base. We'll go to the bottom of the fifth inning. Crusaders lead 6-2. See you back here in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back. Head to the bottom of the fifth inning here. The Crusaders lead 6-2. They will send Nathan Gaswent, Jonas Jensen, and Beckett Blatchford to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Cut the stands, uh, three-quarters full. Got great crowd out in left field and got some people down the right field line.
SPEAKER_04Nathan Gaswin.
SPEAKER_07Really nice, uh, just a beautiful night to come out and sit and watch a good ball game.
SPEAKER_02Nathan struck out looking his first time up, singled his last time and scored a run. That first pitch to Nathan. Outside ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, one thing Nathan does, he really adjusts his stance based on the pitcher and what the ounce calling.
SPEAKER_02Pitch on the outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I'll watch him so he knows that that. Guy coming outside and he'll just kind of tiptoe in a little bit.
SPEAKER_02There's a pitch.
SPEAKER_07Good pitch.
SPEAKER_02Swing and a miss. Strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07That was a tough pitch. That's a good pitch by Frazy. That's a tough pitch to hit. Low, inside, on the corner, right about knee high.
SPEAKER_02Frazy with three strikeouts on the evening. Looking to get number four here. Here's the pitch. That pitch is low. Ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I can. Nathan's such a good two two-strike hitter. I know we've talked about it, but it really is.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Fouls that off out of play. Into one of the yards across the street. Jonas waiting his opportunity. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike three.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, curveball on the outside corner and dipped it right at the end. That was a tough pitch.
SPEAKER_02One out for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the fifth. That'll bring Jonas Jensen. He'll step in from the left side. He walked his first time up and hit into a fielder's choice his last time up. There's the wind-up in the pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07I like to see Jonas jump on that first pitch.
SPEAKER_02There's a pitch by Frazy. Swing and amiss. Strike two. No balls, two strikes. Jonas steps back in. Frazy working quickly. Here's the pitch. Way outside. Ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I tried throwing them that same pitch.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07There we go.
SPEAKER_02Great range there by Markowski. It's short. Jonas beats that out.
SPEAKER_07He's got some wheels, man.
SPEAKER_02That was a great play by the shortstop. You got to give Markowski credit on that one. But Jonas, he showed some speed going down that first baseline. He's on with the single. And that will bring Crusaders. Cal Geese the plate.
unknownNumber one.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, why not? Cal Kell got his first base hit in the first game. Made some good contact. Now you got speed at the plate, speed on first base. You got one out. Almost think, I mean, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jonas take off here. He's got some serious wheels.
SPEAKER_02Remind me going forward when we get late in the game to say scheduled up.
SPEAKER_07There it is.
SPEAKER_02Oh hit hard off the third baseman's glove. Throws it over, just gets Cal. So Geese Grounds third baseman on the fielder's choice. Jensen is able to advance to second. And that will bring Jackson Victory to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Okay, but what a great at bat by Cal. Okay, and that's what you're looking for. Cal gets a nice base hit in the first game, and he roped that ball. That was a rope. Third baseman just made a good play. So now you're thinking in your head, I mean, I've seen Cal three three official at bats, four official at bats, and he's tagged it twice.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yeah, that that was hit hard down third baseline. That was what I like to call a blind squirrel finding the nut on that one because there's no reason he should have been able to make that play. First pitch to Jackson fouled off for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07I haven't heard that phrase in a while. The blind squirrel finding the nut, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that that's what it was, folks.
SPEAKER_07I gotta start writing these down, Mike. This is some old ones.
SPEAKER_02I don't have any new ones. I don't even think I can use new ones on the radio, so I gotta go with the old ones.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Here's pitch.
SPEAKER_07Nice pitch. Nice curved ball.
SPEAKER_02Curves that in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Two outs for the Crusaders here in the bottom of the fifth. They lead six to two. Jonas down at second base, looking to score. Here's pitch. Swinging a miss, gets away from the catcher, throws down to first. Out number three. Crusaders get one on, unable to do anything with it. We are gonna head to the sixth. Come back and see us in 60 seconds.
unknownCrusaders do not score.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02Heading here to the top of the sixth inning. West will send Barker, Coyle, and Vall to the plate. Healing looking to sweep this doubleheader. They won game one five to nothing. They currently lead this one six to two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so we're gonna see Vickery here, uh, at least the start of the sixth. And uh it looks like we got somebody throwing in the bullpen, but I mean that that's just too hard to see through there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, all we can see are silhouettes, but there is there at least there's a catcher down there, and I'm guessing he didn't go down there by himself.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and he plays somebody's loosening up.
SPEAKER_02Could be could be Mason.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, because that was the the deal. They were possibly see Mason and Gas went in the second game. But I mean hey, Vickery keeps uh you know, keeps throwing well and gets out of this inning without any bumps and bruises. Um maybe he's just gonna let Vickery get a complete game. It'd be kind of kind of sweet.
SPEAKER_02Parker steps in from the right side. Here's the first pitch. Fouled sharply down the third baseline. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Coach Neiman there showing off that left-handed no-glove catch.
SPEAKER_02Vickery with the wind-up and the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Good pitch.
SPEAKER_02Outside corner strike two, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, nice job by Vickery.
SPEAKER_02Jackson comes set, he deals. That ball hit out to Tommy Currell in left field. He's running under it. Makes the catch for out number one. And that will bring Coyle to the plate. Coyle has lined out to the shortstop and singled here in game number two.
SPEAKER_07Here we go. I don't know what the delay. We got the delay. We're back here. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Here's first pitch. Popped up. Out of play for strike one. No balls one strike. Ball is due up next.
SPEAKER_07Home played umpire Sam Roberts has called a really nice game so far back there to keeping the kids moving. I don't think I've seen him before this year. This is my first time seeing him.
SPEAKER_02I don't I don't know that I've seen him in the years I've been coming up here. No balls, one strike to coil. That pitch on the outside corner for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Boy, he's coming in. Look at him just standing on that line, Mike. There's a pitch. Nice, nice pitch, actually. Boy, if he gets this, that's a heck of a play. Oh!
SPEAKER_02Chase Beck fields it behind second base and jump throws over to first for out number two.
SPEAKER_07Boys and girls, that's an ESPN or if I've ever seen one. That was an unbelievable play by Chase Beck.
SPEAKER_02That's two great plays by the middle part of this defense here in this game. That's two outs for the West High Wolverines. That'll send ball to the plate.
SPEAKER_07We've had two top tens tonight. Dylan Knapp out there in center and Chase Beck.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if if Game Changer has a top ten, that's two of the ten right there.
SPEAKER_07Oh man.
SPEAKER_02Here's first pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07That's when your pitcher comes up to you on the way and says, hey, son, what can I buy you for dinner?
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. Swinging a mess, strike two. No balls, two strikes. Yeah, that's the difference between having a bag of chips and getting a real meal out of the pitcher. Here's the pitch. High for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Cherkis would be due up next. Wind up in the pitch. Fouled off into the netting down the first baseline. Count remains one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I like Coach moving around moving this lineup around here. And I mean, I've got my opinion on things, and and but let me tell you, uh you can't go wrong with our infield solid right now.
SPEAKER_02No, I I like this alignment. Hopefully that pitch fouled off, stays one ball, two strikes. Hopefully we see this going forward because uh they've got good gloves and really they've got good speed all across the infield.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the infield's extremely fast. This lineup is extremely fast.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna have to hit it hard and sharp to get it past uh any of these infielders. Here's the pitch just fouled off remains one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I'm looking at the I'm just looking at the four infielders, and you know, if we're gonna run a four by one, I'd put them up against anybody in the state. Let me tell you, that that's a fast group.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's there's definitely wheels out there, so uh hopefully they'll keep it together the rest of the year and and we'll get to see some more great stuff. Here's the pitch. Got him looking for strike three on the outside corner. That'll retire the side for the Wolverines in the top of the sixth. We're gonna go to the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead six to two. We'll talk to you in sixty.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusaders courts on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_02We got we're back here, bottom of the sixth inning. Crusaders lead six to two. They will send Chase Beck, JJ Hope, and Peyton Erickson to the plate. Pitching change for the Wolverines. They've got Colton Porath on the mound. He is 0-0 for the season. Pitch five and a third innings. Teams are hitting 250 against him. He is giving up six hits, seven runs, three of those earned. He's walked 10 batters. He has struck out eight and has an ERA of 394.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, left-handed pitch, our first one we've seen tonight. So let's see what uh what our guys can do.
SPEAKER_02Got to adjust to that here. Throw down to second base to get things started. Chase Beck will step in. He struck out his first time up, singled his last time up, and scored a run.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, that rope down the third baseline, just jumped all over the I think it was the second pitch. And I like that. I want to see Chase just start going after that first pitch.
SPEAKER_02Catcher getting set up back there. Here's the wind up and the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Pitcher looks in. Here's the windup. Chase pops that up. Right fielder comes in, able to make the catch for out number one, and that will bring JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Chase just missed that. Got underneath it.
SPEAKER_02Nobody looked like a little bit of confusion by the West defense there, but the right fielder was able to call everybody off and make the play.
SPEAKER_07Didn't make it look easy, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_02JJ grounded short to first, second to first, and then doubled his last time up. Here's the pitch. Outside corner, strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I mean, he's had a he's had a decent day here. He's I think he's he's got three or four hits in the double header.
SPEAKER_02Pitch inside corner for strike two, no balls, two strikes. Here's the pitch. Bounces that one in there, one ball, two strikes, Peyton Erickson on deck.
SPEAKER_07One thing we know though is I mean, JJ does not strike out very much. He uh he's got great eyes, a great two two-strike hitter. Makes the pitchers work.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up and the pitch. Inside ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Yeah, you're right. You're not gonna fool JJ very often when he's up to bat.
SPEAKER_07No, no, I mean.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Just like that.
SPEAKER_02Lines that over the second baseman's head. JJ Hope on with the single. One out here in the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead six to two, and that'll bring Peyton Erickson to the plate.
SPEAKER_07He's just such a disciplined hitter. He's got great hands. He he gets that the hands through the plate, followed by the barrel. He just does a nice job spraying the ball. Normally second base to the right. That's normal spot for JJ. But we've seen him pull it. He's just a hard out. And now you got wheels at first, Mike. I mean, situation baseball. What are we gonna do? Um do you pitch out if you're West?
SPEAKER_02Got a left-handed pitcher out there, so a little harder to get a big lead. Throw over to first. JJ dives back in safely.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, one thing that I know JJ is probably getting a decent lead because he wants he wants the pitcher to throw over there so he can see his move.
SPEAKER_02JJ's got a huge lead. He is beyond the cutout over there on first base. Here's the pitch. In there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07This kid's got a little velocity. I mean, he throws pretty decent for a lefty.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Freezee had some good velocity too, so other than being from the left side. It shouldn't be a huge adjustment. JJ takes off before the pitch is ever thrown.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's that's just that's not even worth throwing down. He was up drinking a cup of coffee before that ball even got to the second baseman.
SPEAKER_02One ball, one strike. Healing scored two in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth. They lead this one six to two.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I'd like to see another run here. The pitcher wanted it to come out, and he said no. Didn't like the pitch call. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Check back of JJ at second, and the pitch inside. Yeah, this is pitch of the plate outside.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Boy Peyton. Peyton's really been patient up there. He's had a good night seeing a lot of pitches.
SPEAKER_02Check if JJ back at second. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that's pretty well out to right field.
SPEAKER_02That's gonna get JJ to third. Erickson with the sacrifice. For out number two, that'll move JJ to third base, and that'll bring up Tommy Carroll.
unknownNumber eight, Tommy Carroll.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good job of Peyton moving him over to third. Got Tommy Carroll here now. You got two outs. I mean, anything through through the infield we score. Get a nice insurance run.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Inside corner for strike one, no balls, one strike. Here's delivery. Carroll fouls that off out of place. Strike two, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Tommy wanted that one. I mean. Tommy's a hard out. He's another one that sees the ball really well, makes contact.
SPEAKER_02Dylan Knapp awaits the in the on-deck circle. Here's the windup in the pitch. Just outside. Ball one. One ball, two strikes. Again, we're in the bottom of the sixth. Crusaders lead this one six to two. They won game one, five to nothing.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Prath is only a sophomore. Big kid. No nice row.
SPEAKER_02Hit out to the second baseman. Able to make the throw. Gets Tommy Carroll at first base for out number three. That'll retire the Crusaders. They get a runner to third, unable to push anybody across. We're going to head to the top of the seventh. Crusaders lead six to two. We'll talk to you in 60.

SPEAKER_19And now back to your Crusader Sports. Your Catholic Radio Station.
SPEAKER_02As we head into the top of the seventh inning, we've got some defensive changes for the Crusaders. Vickery moves over to first base. Jonas Jensen heads out to right field, and right fielder Nathan Gaswin comes in to finish this game off. West will send Cherkis Wolf and the top of the order Markowski to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I like this. Um they said they were going to try to get Gaswin some innings in here. Uh just to get his arm loose and to work him because he's throwing Saturday. So what better opportunity? Bring him in in the seventh, shut it down, see if he can throw, you know, 10 to 15 pitches.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if he if if he hadn't come in tonight, that would have been about 12-13 days off for him. So this is a chance to get some game action before Saturday.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's just too long.
unknownLeading off the top of the seventh with Wolverine's designated hitter, number 10, Golden Cherkis.
SPEAKER_02Cherkis steps in from the right side. Wind up in the pitch. Fouled off for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good inside pitch by Nathan. I mean, Nathan likes to control the black on the plate, inside, outside. Trying to establish himself right off the bat.
SPEAKER_02Nathan working quickly. Here's the pitch. In there for strike two. No balls, two strikes. Nathan comes set, starts his windup. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Beautiful pitch. Oh.
SPEAKER_02Okay. One ball, two strikes. Right across the heart of the plate for ball one.
SPEAKER_07That was a tough one. I don't know where that missed, but must have been high.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up and the pitch by Nathan. Outside corner got him looking for strike three. Out number one. That will bring Wolf to the plate.
SPEAKER_07You know, the way these guys are given that outside corner, um, I mean, Nathan could really, because he can pinpoint that ball. He can really paint that black and go out six inches, and he's gonna get it. Why not why not use it?
SPEAKER_02Polath steps in. Nathan with the pitch. Swinging him at strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Polrath's a big sophomore. He's a big kid.
SPEAKER_02Morkowski awaits his opportunity. Nathan wind up. Here's the pitch. Right in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Nathan's got good velocity tonight, hitting the corners.
SPEAKER_02Here's the wind up and the pitch. Yeah. Outside corner. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strike three got him looking. That's two consecutive strikeouts for Nathan. And that will bring Markowski to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Nathan comes in, and obviously, Mike, this is a way different velocity than West High batters have seen in the first two, you know, up until this point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Markowski steps in from the left side. Try to extend the game here for the Wolverines. Swing and a miss, strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, good outside corner pitch. And let's see true to form, see if Nathan comes back on the inside corner. Nope, it's gonna go outside on him again. Here's the pitch. Oh no, he came in. He came in on him.
SPEAKER_02Inside for ball one, one ball, one strike. Erickson's going out to tell him that. That's not where I was looking for it.
SPEAKER_07No, Peyton was definitely set up on the outside corner, a little more from the middle to the outside, and Nathan come inside out him. So I'm sure like Peyton's like, come on, man. Find me.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Swinging a miss, strike two.
SPEAKER_07That's right where he was set up.
SPEAKER_02West is down to their last strike. Healing leads this one six to two. We're in the top of the seventh inning. Crusaders won game one, five to nothing. Wind up in the pitch. Way outside. Ball two. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, don't overthrow. Just finish it off. Yeah. He's laughing. He's smiling.
SPEAKER_02If you're trying to fool him with that one, they've got to be really crazy because that pitch was about four or five feet outside. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_07Nice pitch. Good curve.
SPEAKER_02Just gets enough of that to foul it off.
SPEAKER_07Boy, that thing had a lot of break to it. Good curve ball by Nathan. Or slider. I can't couldn't tell if that was a side swipe or over the top loop.
SPEAKER_02Two balls, two strikes, two outs. Here's the pitch. Outside ball three. Brings the count full to Markowski. Should he get on, Monroe would be due up next.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you got to come on the inside corner here with Markowski. And that's where Peyton. Peyton set up.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. That pitch is fouled off. Count remains three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the way Markowski sets right up there on the plate. You know, Nathan come in. He came in on him on the last two pitches. Now you gotta go outside here. Let's see what Peyton sets up. Yeah, that's where he's going. Ah, just missed.
SPEAKER_02And Markowski draws the walk. He trots down to first base. One runner on for West here in the top of the seventh, and that will bring Munroe to the plate.
unknownNumber one, Lane Munro.
SPEAKER_02Thanks again to Grace Todd back in the studio. She's done a fantastic job as always. Nathan checks the runner at first base. Here's the pitch. Outside gets away from Peyton. Markowski will head down to second base.
SPEAKER_07Just overthrow a little bit, and this is first pitch from the stretch. And uh overthrew it a little bit, got way outside, just out of the reach of Peyton.
SPEAKER_02Peyton gets all the gear back on, gets down behind home plate.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he just needs to throw strikes.
SPEAKER_02Nathan comes set, checks the runner back at second pace. Deals to the plate. That pitch is high. Ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_07Boy, they're really chirping over there. I can hear that all the way up here. They're trying to get on Gaswin.
SPEAKER_02Long look in by Nathan. Deals. That pitch fouled off. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Well that's that inside corner come back at it. I mean, Lane. He tried swinging it there. There's no way he's gonna catch up with that. You're gonna fist him every time. Not a bad pitch. Come back in again. Let's see where Peyton sets up. I think he's going back in, Mike.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch. Yep. Swinging a miss, strike two. Two balls, two strikes. Two outs. Runner at second base.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's a good spot. That's a good spot. Keep it right there. He can't hurt you there. And it's just too tempting for Lane.
SPEAKER_02Nathan deals to the plate. That pitch is popped foul.
SPEAKER_07Has he got room?
SPEAKER_02Peyton gives chase, unable to make the play. The count will remain two and two. Nathan with the long look in, and ready to make the pitch. That pitch is outside. That brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07That's that curve ball, and his release point is looks like he's he's following through too much on that on his release point with that curveball, and that's why that thing's going way outside. Got to finish a little more on the inside.
SPEAKER_02Here's the pitch to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Beautiful. Oh.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and that just missed for ball four. That'll put runners at first and second with two outs for West.
SPEAKER_07Oh.
SPEAKER_02That'll bring Frazy to the plate.
SPEAKER_07I don't know where that missed.
unknownThe shortstop.
SPEAKER_07I mean Nathan was walking off the field. He thought he had it.
SPEAKER_02Well, as they said last night in the College World Series game, that ball was right across the heart of the plate for ball four.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Two on, two out. Frazy at the plate. Here's the pitch. That one just misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Should Frazy extend the game, Washburn would be due up next. Nathan deals. Outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, that's that same pitch. I mean, should have ended the game, but he got it on that one, so got strike one.
SPEAKER_02Nathan comes set. Here's the pitch. Pitch fouled off down the first baseline. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, he's gone outside corner with Frazy on the last two pitches. Frazy will be protecting the plate a little bit more, coming in. This will be a good opportunity to jam him. Come on that inside, catch him right at the fist.
SPEAKER_02This will unofficially be pitch number 26 for Nathan here in the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Frazy likes to bring that left foot in toward the plate.
SPEAKER_02Wind up in the pitch. Fouled off into the netting down the first baseline. Count remains one ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_07He's chasing that one. He's trying to protect. I mean, that was outside corner pitch. He's chasing it. Now you come back in, fool him on the inside.
SPEAKER_02If you're healing, you do not want to see Washburn come to the plate.
SPEAKER_07Not with bases loaded.
SPEAKER_02Here's a pitch by Nathan. Outside corner, got him looking for strike three. Gaswent strikes out the side in the top of the seventh. Strands two runners. Healing wins game two, six to two. That's a sweep of the doubleheader. Saw a lot of great things tonight out of this healing baseball team in the doubleheader. I think they found an infield that they can finish the season with, John.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, overall, what a great night. And you gotta you gotta tell them that. We go down in the huddle down there, and you and you gotta really push the good things that you saw tonight. We finished with guys on base. I think only one time did we have bases loaded or guys on second and third where we didn't push or run across. Great pitching by Rodriguez and Vickery tonight. Uh I I'm sure that coach has got to be tickled pink. Um and then you got, you know, you got Nathan some some pitches here. I mean, a couple batters long that longer than he wanted to, but overall you got some good work. Probably got about 20 20 pitches in, wouldn't you think?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it was 26 or 27. But yeah, if if if they weren't worried about the long gap between starts for Nathan, we'd have had two complete games by uh Rodriguez and victory tonight. It was uh great pitching. Hopefully that you know solidifies and continues to grow as the season goes on, and yeah, coming down to crunch time like we talked about in the pregame. And uh Heal needed these two wins tonight. That brings them to 17 and 5 in the Missouri River Activities Conference. Or 17 and 5, I'm sorry. And 20 and 9 on the season. Yeah. Uh continuing to build and uh big double header on Thursday at Sergeant Bluff. Reminder that we will be on at 5.15 with first pitch at 5.30, and second game will follow approximately 25-30 minutes after that.
SPEAKER_07I really like that lineup uh that we had here. Um uh with Gee at third, Beck at second, uh JJ Shore. We had some serious wheels, Jonas at first. Yeah, I'm with you, Mike. I we we saw some really good things with our infield tonight.
SPEAKER_02Yep, a couple of top 10 highlight reel plays out there by Dylan and center and and chase at second on that fielding behind second base and jumping and throwing over to first. So a lot of things to build on after this doubleheader and looking forward to Thursday. Hopefully, we'll have everybody join us. If you're not doing anything, you can come out to Sergeant Bluff and see their new complex.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, really looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_02Otherwise, jump on uh Catholic Radio and listen to John and I if you can stomach it. And we will talk to you Thursday from Sergeant Bluff. Go Crusaders.
SPEAKER_07Thank you.
