SPEAKER_03Welcome everybody. I am Mike Skaggs, joined by John Tritz. We're down here in Denison, Iowa, getting ready for the matchup between the Healing Crusaders and Denison. Beautiful sunny day. We got an air-conditioned press box that we haven't had all season long. So that's a nice, nice touch, John.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, and just a just a beautiful uh field and beautiful setting for a wonderful baseball game against a really good Denison ball club here that's got a 21-7 record. It's going to be a great test for the Crusaders tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and we're going to speak very highly of the Denison pitcher to start the game because his dad's sitting right down from us. So he told us to be sure and be kind. And I don't have any reason to doubt when I go through his stats, you'll know that uh he's a quality ball player and a good pitcher. Uh Crusaders are coming off of, I guess, the second heartbreaking loss in three games. They lost three to two last night to Lewis Central in a game that they very easily could have won. Just got got runners on base, scoring position, and weren't able to get them in.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, let's just talk about a few of the good things that we saw last night. Actually, we've seen in the last couple of uh doubleheader and then the game last night. Um, obviously defensively, we're playing some solid baseball infield and outfield. Uh hitting, we saw a little bit of uh a really good situation hitting last night in the early innings. Um got to work on that in the later innings. Saw some really good pitching from our pitchers last night. They kept a really good Lewis Central team who was ranked 10th in 4A with a 28-3 record mic going into last night, or excuse me, 28-5. We really played them well and had them going into that seventh inning, and just you know, we just couldn't get some timely hits, and they did in the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. They were able to, you know, Bond came in and led off with that triple, and yeah, uh, you know, that was really a difference in the game when he when he got to third, you knew he was gonna score. It's just a matter of are we gonna be able to push any runs across in the bottom of the seventh.
SPEAKER_13Right, and we had you know JJ Hope with two outs gets that single down the right field line and just just couldn't get the timely hit. I think if we could have got him on second base, uh possibly uh another somebody else on first with uh Caleb Lefaver coming up, the the you know the result might have been different.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you you know you get guys on base and then you got Caleb coming up, you're feeling good about pretty good about your chances, and and John and I were feeling good about that as we're headed to the bottom of the seventh last night. And uh just didn't go the Crusaders' way. And you know, that's they've they played two quality opponents in a row, and now this is good this is the third. Uh Dennison, uh they're getting ready for their first round matchup, which will be Glenwood. And speaking to the people down here, they they drew Glenwood last year, and they had uh, as they put it, a rain of biblical proportions and had basically a three-hour delay and ended up dropping that game to Glenwood uh late in the game. So uh they're looking to get some revenge this Friday and and you know obviously looking to make a good impression, get off to a good start, and and do some positive things coming into tonight's game against Healan.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I like to take a look out here into the crowd, Mike, and really good contingency from Healan. Made the trip down to Denison. Uh got to see our bus driver Chuck Hansen. Uh, folks, I don't know if you uh heard anything, maybe you have, but our bus broke down on the way down here, and Chuck uh got in there and he thinks he got it taken care of, and as he said, we will see on the way home.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and the rumor that he piggybacked the entire baseball team into the stadium is is not accurate. But uh the kids, the bus is here in the parking lot, I can tell you that. So we know where the bus is. Uh now it'll be interesting to see if uh if they can get home with it. Apparently needed some transmission fluid, and sounds like he's got it all fixed and everybody's gonna travel safely. And uh the healing lineup uh moved around a little bit tonight. We'll go through that here shortly, but that's the rain from last year. Uh we're getting video of the the rain from last year from from uh one of the guys up in the press box, and let me tell you, he was he was not lying about biblical proportion, so that's crazy. We would expect after last night, uh, you know, we kind of had a pitching by committee to get some guys a couple innings, and you know, like you said, John, they did a really good job uh holding Lewis Central down. Um you know, Dylan Knapp came in and and pitched unlike he's pitched in the last few weeks. I mean, he was able to uh to not get himself in situations that made it uncomfortable for himself and the defense, and then you know, they just kind of had a uh uh parade after that. And I would expect they're gonna do the same thing tonight, just try to get some guys an inning or two of work and and get them ready for the playoffs.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Dylan Knapp came in. It looked like that Dylan Knapp that we saw earlier in the year looked like he had his stuff working, and that's encouraging going into the playoffs. We're gonna need Dylan uh on that uh trail to get down to the state tournament. I've got to also say, you know, uh Alex Rodriguez came in and threw two really solid uh uh innings and and Beckett threw a really good uh really good uh two innings, I think. Uh and and of course Caleb, you know, he gave up that uh that leadoff triple that kind of you know ended up being the difference in the game. But other than that, I think he kind of settled down after that first couple batters and really threw some nice pitches. It was good to see Caleb back on the mound, and and I'd love to see him get a few more innings in. You know, obviously we got to wait and kind of see what goes on this weekend in the draft. Um, but it would be really good to have him back in the lineup as a pitcher, but you know, as a hitter, he hasn't missed a beat coming back from his layoff because he's hitting the ball extremely hard.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, his his batting eye is solid. And oh, you know that you mentioned uh Beckett Blatchford, you know, role players that that this team has. He's he's grown on me since Lamar's. Yeah. I mean the the kid is just you look at him and he looks looks like he enjoys life and loves life and is just having a good time. And yeah, he goes out there and it doesn't look like he feels any pressure or anything like that when he's on the mound. He just he's out there to have a good time and and and throw the ball and uh challenge those hitters and and you know here I come. Good luck.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he pitched really well last night, really proud of that kid. He comes in, he's come in in some sticky situations and and has battled and and has given uh Coach Wesselman some really good innings this year, and and we have a few of those guys, and we're gonna see a few more of those tonight. I think uh Gaswin will get the start, and and my understanding, probably the same situation as last night, probably a couple innings for him. We'll probably see Moravic tonight, I'm guessing, and uh then after that I I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it'll be it'll be a hodgepodge of of pitchers coming in. Let's go ahead and take a two-minute break, and then I will be we'll be back with uh batting order in the starting lineups.

SPEAKER_17Hello, listeners. I'm Father Travis Crotty, the chaplain of Bishop Healing Catholic High School. Let us pray in the name of the Father, into the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and amen. Our Father who art in heaven, in hallowed be thy name, and in thy kingdom come, and thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Back here in Dennis and I we're getting ready for the Crusaders and Dennison to take the field. We'll get to the batting order and starting lineups for the visiting team, the Bishop Heal and Crusaders. JJ Hope will lead off playing shortstop, batting 397. Batting second and playing catcher, Peyton Erickson, batting 274. Batting third and DH will be Caleb Lefaver and he is DHing for Jonas Jensen, who is playing first base. Batting fourth pitching will be Nathan Gaswin. He comes with the 305 batting average. Batting fifth will be Dylan Knapp. He'll be roaming center field and he's batting 279. Tommy Carroll batting 269 will be in right field. Chase Beck playing second base, batting 226 is batting seventh. Batting eighth will be Jackson Vickery playing third base, batting 227. And batting ninth for the Crusaders playing left field will be Mason Moravik batting 172. Ford Dennison leading off. Owen Galvin batting 353. He will be the pitcher. Batting second and playing center field, batting 203 is Lincoln Beck. Batting third, playing catcher, batting 429 is Cole Kastner. Batting fourth, Ryan Schleckta hitting 289, playing first base. Batting fifth, Andy Peterson hitting 225, he'll be playing third base. Batting sixth is Roman Bignus hitting 338, he'll be in left field. Batting seventh, Camden Nimitz hitting 260, he'll be at shortstop. Playing right field and batting eighth will be Lucas Schneider, he's hitting 230. And batting ninth and DH will be Grant Olsen, he is hitting 250, and he will be DH for Carson Brunn, who is second base.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Galvin comes in here, uh Mike, five and one record, uh 1.17 ERA, kind of like what we saw last night. Um and they're gonna probably get uh I can't remember what dad up here said, gonna get 40 pitches out of him tonight, Dad. Yeah, look, he's he's nodding, yes. So they're probably kind of do what we did, uh uh gonna give him a couple innings and uh it'll be a good test for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it will be, and I like we said, we expect this uh expect the same thing for Nathan, Nathan Gasland. I'd like to give a shout out to the Heal and JV baseball team. They're finished they finished their season with an 8-3 victory over Dennison. We got to see the uh last couple innings at as we were getting set up here at the field. And if uh you're coming down to Denison and you're looking for a place to grab a good burger, you want to stop in at the pub right on the edge of town. John and I grabbed a burger there and excellent, excellent. Very good. John got his with an over easy egg on it. I couldn't do that, so I just got bacon on mine. But good place, good people. And uh again, we're looking forward to a great baseball game. Healing is in the blue jerseys with white crusaders in cursive along the front, white numerals there in gray pants with the blue stripe down the side. Dennison is in all white with purple lettering and looks like monarchs across the front with purple hats.
SPEAKER_13I gotta give a shout out to my really good friend Scott Larson. Uh hopefully he's listening. I told him to turn it on. He's uh retired principal from Denison. Those of you from out in the Morningside area remember him. He's a Hall of Famer from Morningside College, played football and baseball out there. Super guy. Um I know we're supposed to down here they do what do they call it, the Scott Larson scoreboard. So I don't know if we'll do that, but uh Scotty, great seeing you tonight. I got to give you a shout out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we'd like to uh also ask everybody to keep Ann Reed and her family in your prayers. Uh they've got some things going on that uh they're dealing with and they could use prayers from everybody, and also uh Emily and Jeff Napton down in Lincoln. Uh he's prepping for hopefully a bone marrow transplant here at the end of July or sometime in August. And I know that uh they'd appreciate your prayers. I got to get know them the last couple months and just fantastic people.
SPEAKER_04Genesis lesson.
SPEAKER_03You know, anybody you know that's dealing with any health issues, any any life issues, uh say a prayer for them and keep them close and help them through uh anything that they're dealing with.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, tell them to to tune on to 88.1 and listen to us, Mike, because you know what? If they need a picker up, we'll try to give them nice pickups.
SPEAKER_03We'll do our best. We'll try to provide some humor, and John will provide a lot of knowledge. He's my kid that I call him Cliff Cleveland because he knows a lot about nothing, but John knows a lot about baseball and uh he's done a great job. I really enjoyed working with him this summer, and like I told him earlier, probably gave him a big head whenever I found out I was gonna do this. The first name that came to my wife's mind was John Tritz.
SPEAKER_04And so glad to have him.
SPEAKER_03Uh I'm I like these parents that are all up under the trees. They're smart.
SPEAKER_13So those of you that haven't been out to Dennison, the setting here is really it's just cool. The the the field sits down in a bowl atmosphere. Uh used to be the premier and still still is to that point, the premier field in the northwest Iowa. And it still looks great because it's been around since I played, and that's 45 years ago, Mike.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, we are going to get ready for the national anthem, so let's go ahead and take a two-minute break, and we will be back after that to bring you the game.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03We are back here in Dennison. I'm Mike Stags, joined by John Tritz. They're finishing the warm-ups here. And JJ Hope waiting his chance to step in.

SPEAKER_03Alright, here we go. JJ Hope steps in to face Galvin. Galvin starts his wind up here as first pitch. JJ fouls that back into the net for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I like the aggressiveness of JJ going after that first pitch, Mike.
SPEAKER_03And I know they couldn't have gone back and listened to the replay because it wasn't on yet, but that's what you and I talked a lot about last night is being more aggressive at the plate and not getting getting behind in the count.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I'm sure JJ's looking down third baseline here.
SPEAKER_03Pitch inside. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Third baseman's playing uh base even.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean Galvin is obviously a good pitcher, and you can't let him get settled into a routine and get comfortable. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good pitch on the outside corner, caught the black.
SPEAKER_03Galvin in the wind up and deals. JJ hits that out into left field. Left fielder under it for out number one. Good solid hit there by JJ, just right at the left fielder. That'll bring up Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, JJ just got underneath that. Uh kind of caught him a little bit, not on the barrel, uh making that thing go up in the air, but he got a good cut on it.
SPEAKER_03Erickson will step in and he'll be followed by Caleb Lefaver.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, a little one. A little bit low. Good eye on Peyton.
SPEAKER_03Here's the wind up in the pitch. Peyton pops that out into right field, right fielder working his way around there. Gets under it for out number two. And that will bring Lefaber to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, so far, two really good swings uh by JJ and Erickson just got underneath them a little bit, uh keeping the outfielders busy right now.
SPEAKER_03The outfield fence here is looks like it's about ten feet high. So if you're gonna get it over that, you're gonna have to get it up in the air.
SPEAKER_13It's a monster. Caleb take that one. That's going deep. Center fielder's got a beat on it.
SPEAKER_03Fly out to center field for out number three. So we fly it out to all areas of the outfield. So healing goes three up, three down to start the game, and we're gonna head to the bottom of the first. We'll be back to talk to you in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03We are back in Denison. We're heading to the bottom of the first inning. Denison will send up Owen Galvin, Lincoln Beck, and Cole Kastner.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, let's get a few more sponsors in here, Mike, while we got a chance. My Jeweler, Myra Favor State Farm Agency, Neil Pfeiffer, KOC Insurance Agent, New Crib Inspection, People's Bank of Sioux City, Prime Bank, Queen of Peace, Trinity Heights, Rooley Family Chiropractic, Shram Electric, Security National Bank, Service Master of Sioux Land and Sioux Body Shop. SPEAKER_03Thanks to all the underwriters and sponsors. It's extremely affordable and great opportunity to continue to sort the support the Healam baseball team. Galvin steps in here to lead things off against Gaswent. Nathan starts his wind up in the pitch. That first pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's good. Good pitch by Nathan. Painting that outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Nathan working quickly. Here's pitch number two.
SPEAKER_13Beautiful.
SPEAKER_03Catches the inside corner. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Well, I'm going to tell you right now, you got that inside slider working like he just did. Hopefully that's a good sign because that was a great pitch.
SPEAKER_03Nathan deals. That pitch fouled off. Count remains, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13I like it. Came back with the same pitch on the inside corner. Caught Galvin on the fist there a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was just able to foul it off. There's a pitch by Nathan. That fouled off out of play. Count remains, no balls, two strikes. Center fielder Lincoln Beck is due up next.
SPEAKER_04Thank you.
SPEAKER_13I like to see him come back with that fastball in the inside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Nathan starts to wind up. Here's the pitch. Over to Jonas at first for out number one. Six to three put out. And that will bring Lincoln back to the plate. He'll be followed by Cole Kassner.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, we don't get a chance to play on a lot of natural grass fields here in the last couple weeks. We've been playing on all field turf fields. So could could see some interesting hops tonight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. That uh that one took a little bit of a high hop on JJ as it came off the grass. Here's the first pitch by Nathan. Swing and a miss, strike one.
SPEAKER_13Beautiful slider on the outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03No balls, one strike. Yeah, this is another another great start for Nathan, just like last week against uh East. Here's a pitch. That pitch right in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, popped out, popped out of Peyton's glove uncharacteristically. Peyton looked like he was a little mad at the ball there when he picked it up.
SPEAKER_03Here's the wind up in the pitch.
SPEAKER_13Beautiful outside corner.
SPEAKER_03Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. That's strikeout number one for Gaswin, out number two for Dennison, and they'll send Cole Casser to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Nathan's really dialing on the corners, working east-west. Inside outside.
SPEAKER_03Nathan Deals. That pitch outside for ball one.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I just missed. Good frame by Peyton on that outside corner, but just a little bit outside.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Another one in the same spot. Outside ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Should Kassner get on? Ryan Sleckta would be next. Here's the pitch by Nathan. Grounded right back up the middle. Beck makes scoop at second, throws over to first for out number three. Both teams retired one, two, three in the first inning. We'll go to the top of the second, no score, and we'll be back in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03We're here ready to head in the top of the second inning. Crusaders will send Nathan Gaswin, Dylan Knapp, and Tommy Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, first inning, really good. We saw two really good pitching performances here in the first inning, both Galvin and Gaswin. Really working the corners.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have unofficially have him at 10 pitches for the game so far. So really good start for Nathan. Looks like they're keeping the pitch count for us. So I'm gonna go with the official down there whenever it gets back to Nathan. Galvin had eight in the first inning. Galvin looks in, starts the wind up. Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good good slide around the outside corner. Caught the black.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Swinging him out of strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Cut by Nathan. And as we've talked about, Nathan's about as good a two-strike hitter as there is.
SPEAKER_03Pitch high and outside. Ball one. One ball, two strikes. Wind up by Galvin in the pitch.
SPEAKER_13Another one deep.
SPEAKER_03Hits that out into center, slides over into right field to make the catch for out number one. So that's four flyouts to the outfield for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good contact by Gaswin. And you know, and then if you're gonna hit it, that's where you want to hit it tonight. Because that wind's blowing right out center to right field. Uh you hit it out to center field if you have any chance of getting that thing over tonight or to the warning track. That's gonna be it.
SPEAKER_03First pitch to Dillon is high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. I like these two pitchers. They work quickly. Here's the pitch. Way outside. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, they're playing Dillon. The pole, you got the shortstop moving over toward third base. They've looked at the spray chart thinking he's gonna pull it here.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good cut by Dillon.
SPEAKER_03Tommy Carroll do up next. Look like Mason Moravic down in the bullpen warming up. Dillon fouls that back out of play. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, we gotta find a way to get Dylan on. Dylan gets on. He's 14-15 in stolen bases, so we can manufacture runs when we get him on.
SPEAKER_03That pitch way outside. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Now Galvin coming back on that outside corner, just missed the black, and here we go. That's trouble.
SPEAKER_03Dylan hits that out to right field. Another fly out. That's five consecutive flyouts for the Crusaders. Two down here in the top of the second. That'll bring Tommy Carroll to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, but I I really like the approach that Dillon had there in the inside out hitting, Mike. I mean, he took that thing to right field. Uh he's had a lot of those drops. That's a good sign for Dylan because he'd been having a couple uh at bats there where you know I I I think he's just was pressing a little bit, and and that was a good one there. There's another that's a tough one.
SPEAKER_03That's off the fence.
SPEAKER_13Nope. Got a good relay in.
SPEAKER_03Wow, great, great arm by the right fielder out there to hold Carroll to a single. I got out there pretty fast, so that that probably had a little bit to do with it as well. That'll bring Chase back to the plate. Chase had a big uh double last night to the left center gap.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, the dimensions aren't necessarily real big on this field, but the fence, uh those of you and Mike's not joking, this is probably a 20-foot fence all the way around. You gotta you gotta hit it hard to get it out of here.
SPEAKER_03Here's the first pitch to Chase in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Chase smoked one last night out between left and center.
SPEAKER_03Throw over Tommy back in plenty of time.
SPEAKER_13Shout out to his grandpa Dan, who's listening on the radio back home tonight.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Swinging a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good slider by Galvin on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_03Checks the runner and the pitch. Pitch outside for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Jackson Vickery on deck. Throw over, Tommy back in plenty of time. So we'll reset. Here we go. Galvin checks the runner at first. Deals to the plate. Struck out looking really good.
SPEAKER_13Uh curveball. A little bit different than his slider. Came in there, kind of curved in right at the last second, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Crusaders get one on, able unable to do anything with it. We're gonna head to the bottom of the second, still tied zero to zero. We'll talk to you in sixty seconds.

SPEAKER_03Slector will step in here to face Nathan. First pitch. Fouled off the plate. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's a really good sign when you see his slider working like it is tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Steps back in. Nathan working quickly. Here's the pitch. That pitch foul back into the net. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13You know, a lot of kids are looking for a waste pitch here. It would be really nice to see him sneak that fastball in on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_03Grounded down to Jonas at first. He takes it himself for out number one. Slector retired. And that will bring up Andy Peterson, the third baseman.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, great, great play by Jonas. We saw Jonas make one of the better plays we've seen at first base last night on that dive down the line. Plays a really good first base.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's he's a solid kid down there. And yeah, when that ball left the bat last night, you and I both thought it was uh headed down the first baseline, and he dove and was able to make the play himself. First pitch in there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Nathan's really working the outside inside Mike. Hit the black on the outside corner there.
SPEAKER_03Wind up in the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Nathan's got his signature wobble out there as he wiggles. I just love it. You can tell when he's in his zone.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Beautiful. Swing and a miss. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout number two for Nathan Gaswin on the evening. That will bring up the left fielder, Roman Bign.
SPEAKER_04Nathan Bignus.
SPEAKER_03Bignus hitting 338 on the season. He'll step in to take his chances with Nathan here. Nathan with a wind up and deals. Swing and a miss, strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13He had a really nice slider. Started out in the middle of the plate, broke out on the outside corner. Good pitch.
SPEAKER_03Nathan, wind up and deals. That pitch breaks in there for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13That's that little bit change up curve that he throws. He threw that on the inside corner, just a little bit slower than a slider.
SPEAKER_03Here's the next pitch. Swick and a miss. Two strikeouts in the inning for Nathan Gaswent. That's three for the game. Dennison goes quietly. Three up, three down. Heading to the top of the third, we're tied zero to zero. We'll come back in 60.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Top to third inning here in Denison. We are tied 0-0. Jackson Vickery, Mason Moravic, and the top of the order, JJ Hope. Will be up to take their chances again against Mr. Galvin. He's a nice solid pitcher. You can tell it by his record and by his ERA. He's fun to watch, and both these pitchers are moving quick. First pitch to Jackson in there for a strike. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, look like that curveball in the inside corner kind of swooped it in. Yeah, both pitchers very similar, got a good fastball, throw throw a curveball and a slider, and a slider really breaks to the outside.
SPEAKER_03Here's the next pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes. Now he's got one strikeout so far, looking for a second one here. Here's the pitch. Another strikeout looking. That's two strikeouts in a row where Healing watches it go by. So that'll bring Mason Moravic to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that curveball, Mike, you really got to sit back on it. It breaks right at the tail end. It's a great pitch that he has. You just got to sit back and look for it.
SPEAKER_03Pitch on the outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Here's pitch. Mason fouls that off out of play. No balls, two strikes. Our next broadcast will be Friday from East High School. It'll be first round of the playoffs. Healing will take on Storm Lake. Scheduled first pitch is 7 o'clock. It's scheduled to be on the air at 6.45. Moravic singles up the middle for the second hit of the evening for the Crusaders, and that'll bring JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, great piece of hitting by Moravic. He really sat back, just like we were just talking about, kind of waited for that pitch and got that uh that curveball that we were talking about. Um took it right up the middle. Good piece of hitting by Moravic.
SPEAKER_03And that uh first matchup on Friday at East, East, Sioux City East will take on Sioux City West. And the start time of our game will be determined by the length of that first game. Here's the pitch. Inside for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Hopefully we're close to on time on Friday. If not, right on time. Based on the results of the four games between those two teams during the season, it's a good possibility it'll be a quick one. Here's pitch. JJ hits out in center field, so JJ's flown out to left field and center field now. That's out number two. And that will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate, who flew out to right field his first time up.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good cut by JJ. I mean, just missing them. He's aggressive at the plate. I like seeing that.
SPEAKER_03Six of the eight outs by the Crusaders have been fly balls to the outfield. So they're hitting the ball nice and solid. They're just hitting it right at uh the Dennison defenders. Here's the pitch. Inside. Peyton turns away from that one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton's been really swinging his bat really well here the last few games, Mike. Making good contact.
SPEAKER_03Pitch by Galvin. That's on that outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike. Again, Moravic over at first with a single, and there's two outs here in the top of the third. Throw over. Mason back in plenty of time. Got his big oven mid on so he doesn't hurt his hands when he slides into the base. Here's the pitch. He goes. Throw down to second. Not in time. Moravic with stolen base.
SPEAKER_13Great jump by Mason. Got a really good jump. Ball was thrown just to the left of the base, and uh Mason slid underneath it.
SPEAKER_03One ball, two strikes to Peyton Erickson, two outs here with runner at second base.
SPEAKER_13Here we go. I mean, here we go. We got a guy down there, Mike, and just got to make some contact, get the ball out of the infield.
SPEAKER_03Peyton asks for time.
SPEAKER_13Digging in a little bit closer to the plate, wants to protect.
SPEAKER_03Everybody's reset here. Galvin looks in for the sign. He comes set.
SPEAKER_13What's going on that outside corner?
SPEAKER_03Checks the runner a second. Here's a pitch. Pitch way outside. Two balls, two strikes. Okay little favor, do up next. Peyton steps back in. Galvin looks in for the sign.
SPEAKER_13Going in.
SPEAKER_03Checks the runner. Strikeout looking. Two strikeouts in the inning for Galvin. Crusaders get a single and get a runner down to second base, unable to score. We're gonna head to the bottom of the third. We're tied 0-0. Come back in 60.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Back here in Denison, I'm Mike Stags, joined by John Triss. Dennison will send 7, 8, and 9 to the plate. It'll be Camden Nimitz, shortstop, right fielder Lucas Schneider, and designated hitter Grant Olson.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, it's really nice, Mike. They got the pitch count out there for us, as you brought up before.
SPEAKER_03I've got Nathan right around 18 right now through two innings. So if 40 is going to be a limit for him, he's he's working well and he's got uh chance to at least get through another inning. Getting ready to throw his last warm-up pitch. And with that, Camden Nimmons is gonna step in and take his chances.
SPEAKER_04Lead off the bottom of the third three run.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's been three up, three down, and two consecutive innings for Dennison.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Nathan's really been in the zone tonight. Uh really hitting the inside, outside. Got his slider working, got his curveball working. Um we saw this the other night, and he's just continuing it.
SPEAKER_03That first pitch foul back, strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, fastball up by the fist there, Mike, on the inside corner. Yeah, Nimitz really hugging the plate.
SPEAKER_03There's the wind up in the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13So Nimitz gets really close to the plate, and he's got an inside stride. So Nathan's smart coming in the inside corner because he can't reach it.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Just off the plate for ball one. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Just outside. Umpire's really doing a good job. He's got a really good zone tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_03There's a wind up by Nathan in the pitch. That's hit foul down the third baseline. Count remains. One ball, two strikes. Crusaders have put two men on tonight in two different innings, unable to push anybody across.
SPEAKER_13Crusaders playing Nimitz straight up, not leaning either way.
SPEAKER_03Wind up by Nathan in the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike three.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's a great job, you know. Nimitz, like I was telling you earlier, he's right up on the plate. Like that with the velocity of Nathan's ball, and he's got really good control of his fastball tonight. Yeah, he does. He just got nip at that inside corner, and sure enough, that's what he did.
SPEAKER_03That's the fourth strikeout of the evening for Nathan. He starts his wind up here to Schneider. Here's a pitch. Breaks that one in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, slider on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_03Swing and a miss, strike two.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, beautiful. Inside out working. Come with that inside on the first pitch and nip that outside corner on the black second.
SPEAKER_03Here's the windup in the pitch. Swing and a miss. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout number five for Nathan Gaswin here tonight. And that will bring Grant Olson to the play. And John and I heard a rumor a little bit earlier that today may be Coach Andy Osborne's birthday. So shout out, my man. Yeah, if it is or it isn't. Happy birthday, Coach Osborne. First pitch in there for a strike. No balls, one strike. Give a shout out to Andy's mom up outside Fastoria. He says she listens all the time, whether he's coaching or not, so we want to give her a shout-out. Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Nathan's just rearing back throwing. He's got him down 0-2 here. Looks like we're going inside corner, Mike. Here's the pitch. Beautiful pitch. Just missed that.
SPEAKER_03Just missed that inside corner. One ball, two strikes. Should Olsen get on, that'll bring Owen Galvin to the plate. Here's the pitch. High and outside. Two balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I don't mind that pitch. It's just a good waist pitch. Got it way ahead in the count.
SPEAKER_03Here's the wind up in the pitch by Nathan. There it is.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Back here in Denison, top of the fourth inning. We've been playing for 34 minutes and we're over halfway through this game. Some changes, positional changes for Dennison. Now pitching is going to be Andy Peterson. Galvin moves to shortstop and Nimitz moves to third.
SPEAKER_13Really good job by Galvin for Denison. They got to be happy with the three innings they got out of him. Only gave up two hits. Both times we got guys down there at second base, couldn't get them in. And he finished with 37 pitches, so just on just on queue, you know, right at the 40 pitch mark. He's out. So here we go. We got Peterson.
SPEAKER_03Healing will send La Favor. Gas win and nap to the plate. First pitch to Nathan Ground to the shortstop. Throw over to first just in time for out number one. Again, Caleb's making contact on every attack.
SPEAKER_13He makes he's making really good contact and uh hitting the ball right up the middle. That time just hit it right to the shortstop.
SPEAKER_03Nathan Gaslin will step in. He flew out to center field his first time up. Peterson deals. That pitch way outside for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Dennison playing him straight away. So no gaps, everything's just uh basically.
SPEAKER_03That pitch said it hit him. So usually it's healing that does that, but we'll take that one.
SPEAKER_13I didn't see that, but it must have caught him on the arm when it came across. The umpire's got a little bit better look than we do, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Uh Nathan down at first base after a hit by pitch. That'll bring Dylan Knapp. He flew out to right field his first time up.
SPEAKER_13Be a good, you know, he had a really good at bat though, Mike. You and I commented on that. Good inside out hitting. Took that ball to right field.
SPEAKER_03That'll send Cal Geeesey out to courtesy run for Nathan.
SPEAKER_13Here we go. We got some really good speed over there at first base.
SPEAKER_03Cow with a fairly sizable lead out there. Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike. Yeah, I guess you could say one advantage of Cal not playing a lot of games is nobody knows how fast he is. So when he gets on, uh little bit tough to know what he's gonna do. There he goes. That pitch in there for a strike, throw down, and they got him. Cal caught stealing at second base for out number two. No balls, two strikes to Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, really good throw by the catcher, and it had to be perfect. It was a bang banger. Um could have probably gone either way with that hand underneath, but uh on those bang bangers, a lot of times you're gonna see him ring them.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Cal was right there. He he had it, but it like you said, it was a great great throw by the catcher and great tag by the second baseman. So here's the pitch. Dylan fouls that off to keep the count. No balls, two strikes. Should Dylan get on, that'll bring up Tommy Carroll, who singled his first time up. Here's the pitch by Peterson. Dylan fouls that back out of play. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good good job by Dylan, keeping his head down. Going with that pitch on the outside corner, because you gotta protect the plate, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Dylan fouls another one back into the net. Keeping Chase busy there shagging foul balls. So Dylan step back in. Peterson comes set. Wind up in the pitch. Just gets contact and fouls that off.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, they're working the outside corner on Dillon. Center fielder's a little bit over to right, so their their spray chart that they got, they got him leaning a little bit toward right field.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch by Peterson. Hit hard down. That's trouble. That's trouble. He bobbles it. Got it. And still with the bobble, he is able to get Dillon at first base, very close play. So the Crusaders get a runner on. Unable to push him across. We're gonna head to the bottom of the fourth. We're tied 0-0. We'll visit with you again in one minute.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Bottom of the fourth inning here at Denison High School. Crusaders and Denison are tied 0-0. Got a new pitcher for the Crusaders. It's Mason Moravic. Nathan Gaswin moves to right field. Dylan Knapp still in center, and Tommy Carroll moves over to left.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, just a really good outing by Nathan Gaswin. Uh saw the minimum, nine batters. Just didn't give up a hit. And just a great outing for him, just a huge sign for the Crusaders going into the playoffs. Mason Moravic, we saw a really good outing by Mason against East, just a couple miskews, and and Mason's out of a couple of those innings, Mike, but through a threw a really nice game against the Black Raiders.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, through a really solid game against a really good hitting uh Black Raider lineup. And it was good to see that out of Mason. I mean, we've talked about it all year. He can come in and and you know turn a sow into a uh sow into a silk purse.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he's he's he's not gonna blow up by you, and he but he's got a he's got a decent fastball that he can sneak in and he's got a great curveball and a great slider.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, very deceptive with what he can do out there. And uh he gets himself into some tight spots, but he always finds a way to work his way out of it. And uh hopefully we don't have to deal with that tonight. But uh it's now 742, and we are in the bottom of the fourth inning.
SPEAKER_04Great deal, big investments.
SPEAKER_03Here we're talking about getting out of here early. Watch it'll go extra innings and won't be here till midnight. Number four, Owen!
SPEAKER_13Well, yeah, you you know baseball is uh you don't want to you don't want to jinx us here, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Galvin will step in. He grounded out short to first his first time up. Again, it's been three up, three down for Dennison in the first three innings. Here's the first pitch. That pitch in there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's that high curve ball that Mason throws. Very similar to Galvin's, only coming from the left side, kind of hangs there and then breaks at the last second.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch by Mason. Fouled off, strike two, no balls, two strikes. Yeah, the velocity difference is is noticeable between uh Nathan and Mason. So now I mean they only the lineup only saw Nathan one time, but they've now they've got to adjust to uh new style and left-handed pitcher. Here's the pitch. That pitch fouled off out of play, count remains, no balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton working him on the outside corner. They're a fastball. First two pitches he threw to him, curve balls on on the inside corner, and then try to sneak that fastball in on the outside.
SPEAKER_03Mason starts his wind up, and here's the pitch. That's it out to center field. Dylan on his horse. He gets over under it and makes the play for out number one. And that will bring up Lincoln Beck. He will be followed by the catcher Cole Kashner.
SPEAKER_04Now that he center fielder number three, Lincoln back.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Galvin made really good contact on that ball. Dylan just got a really good jump. Dylan covers a lot of ground out in center field, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Yes, he does. Give a shout out to Jeff and Kathy and Noel a Favor. I'm sure they're listening in. That pitch in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Noah caught me on the way up here, wanted to know if we needed him to do anything for us tonight. Love that kid.
SPEAKER_03Here's the wind up by Mason. Just misses. Two balls, no strikes. Yeah, he was sitting up there last night when we were off the air, and he was calling that JV game. He's got a future if he wants to take over. Here's a pitch. Pitch high for ball three. Three balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, fastball. Just uh just up, just up over the waist, a little bit high.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then between innings he'd go, and we'll be back in 60 seconds. So I know he listens. Here's the pitch. That pitch just misses. First base runner for Dennison gets on, back reaches with the walk, and that will bring Cole Kastner to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Mason's just got to settle down, get take a deep breath, get in here, start finding the zone again. He didn't miss by much on those first two pitches.
SPEAKER_03Thank you to Grace Todd back in the studio. She wasn't sure when we were gonna come on, but she was ready to go whenever we needed her. Here's the first pitch. Catch that outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, nice curveball in the outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03You can go on the Siouxland Catholic Radio website and see some great pictures from last night's game, and uh they do a good job of putting those on there. It's even like a little still picture video. There's a pitch by Mason. That's grounded JJ at short, bobbles it, unable to get anybody. Uh very uncharacteristic play there by JJ. So now you've got runners at first and second with one out, and that will bring Ryan Slecta to the plate.
SPEAKER_04Grounded out unassisted to first baseman, number six, Ryan Slecta.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, we talk about the the bounces of the ball on real grass and real dirt. It looks like that just caught him a little bit on a on the last second on a on a funny hop, Mike. Wasn't able to to bring it in.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it looks like it might have caught the heel of his glove and bounced back into the dirt. He tried to scoop it up and wasn't able to get anybody.
SPEAKER_13There we go.
SPEAKER_03Here's first pitch by Mason. That's in there for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I told Mason last time. I mean, one thing that Mason does real well, even when he gets himself in situations, Mike, is he always able to corral himself and just stay within himself when he's pitching. Nice curveball to come back after that.
SPEAKER_03Long look in by Mason. Checks the runner at second base. Here's the pitch. That's hit into the gap out in right center. All the way to the fence. One run will score.
SPEAKER_13Gotta play it home.
SPEAKER_03Play at the plate. Not able to feel that. So RBI double for Slecta makes his score two to nothing here in the bottom of the fourth inning.
SPEAKER_04Two RBI double I Slecta brings up your pitcher number five, Andy Peterson.
SPEAKER_03Andy Peterson will step in, struck out his first time up. He always got a timeout here having a conversation out on the mound with the infield.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that ball just got into the in between Gaswin and and Nap out there in right center. And they're having a conversation out there themselves. Here we go. That's shortstop right now, Mike.
SPEAKER_03And we were right, it is Coach Osborne's birthday. Pitch strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's that hanging curve on the outside corner, got that thing to break right at the last second.
SPEAKER_03Select at second base with the two RBI double. There's one out. Here in the bottom of the fourth. Dennison leads two to nothing. Here's a pitch. That pitch fouled back. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Crusaders are really playing him straight up. Got uh JJ and Chase Beck both kind of trying to hold him on at second base, doing the combination. One goes over the other one, comes back and in a round.
SPEAKER_03Mason checks him at second base. Checks again. Here's a pitch. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout. Out number two. That will bring Roman Bigness to the plate. He struck out his first time up.
SPEAKER_04Roman Bigness.
SPEAKER_13Good job by Mason coming back. Cutting that uh curveball on the outside corner there.
SPEAKER_03Mason with a long look in here. Steps off. Everybody steps out to reset.
SPEAKER_13Playing him straight up in the outfield. Infield is at normal.
SPEAKER_03There's first pitch. Pitch high for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Should Bigness extend the inning, that'll bring Camden Nemitz to the plate. Mason with the pitch. Swinging a missile. Pitch fouled off. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Mason's really got that pitch working on the outside corner, Mike. He kind of sneaks that, kind of backdoors it in, comes over there from the opposite batter's box, works its way to the inside. Nimitz really sits up on the plate, like to see him come in on the inside with him on this pitch.
SPEAKER_03Mason looks in, checks the runner at second, and here's the pitch. Hits it out to Dylan center field. He's on his horse. At the warning track. Dylan Knapp makes the catch.
SPEAKER_13That was great. Dylan got a great jump on that. That ball was well hit out to the warning track, and and Dylan just had a great jump and run it ran it down.
SPEAKER_03That will retire the side. Dennison pushes two across. We'll head to the top of the fifth. Healing trails two to nothing.

SPEAKER_03Back in Dennison, we're going to the top of the fifth inning. Crusaders trail two to nothing. They will send Tommy Carroll, Chase Beck, and Jackson Vickery to the plate. Outside, ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Tommy really stroked that last one, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Crusaders have no runs on two hits and one error. Dennison has two runs on one hit and no errors. Tommy fouls that down third baseline. One ball, one strike. Carol has one of the two healing hits. Outside. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Good no take by Tommy, a little bit on the outside.
SPEAKER_03That pitch just misses. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, we need to get this leadoff run around, Mike. Try to manufacture something, get something going. There we go.
SPEAKER_03Outside. Carroll draws the walk, gets on base for the second time tonight, and that'll bring Chase back to the plate. Struck out looking his first time up.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, this would be a great opportunity here. I don't look for Coach Taylor to be nothing but aggressive. We've been aggressive all season on the base paths. Chase getting in a little closer to the plate than I normally look see him. Oh, try to get out of the way.
SPEAKER_03Try to get out of the way and fouled that one off. No balls, one strike. Peterson with a long look in here. Comes set, checks the runner at first. Here's a pitch. Pitch high for ball one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Got the signal on. We got a two-in-one count here, or is that one and one, Mike? One and one?
SPEAKER_03One-on-one. Here's a pitch. Inside corner for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Jackson Vickery is on deck.
SPEAKER_13Good pitch by Peterson on the inside corner.
SPEAKER_03Long look in here. Here's the pitch. Inside for ball two. Two and two. Tommy Carroll on first base, benefit of a walk.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's a big at that for Chase.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. That pitch way outside. Brings the count full. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Carroll's got a nice lead over there at first base.
SPEAKER_03There's the pitch. That pitch is for ball four. Back-to-back walks. And that puts runners at first and second with no outs, and that'll bring Jackson Vickery to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Here we go, Mike. Here we go. Guys on first and second, no out. We got great situation baseball here. Now you start playing the chess game as to what you do. Do you play small ball? Do you get the guys running? Try a double steal, a little hit and run action. You got good speed at second base.
SPEAKER_03Third baseman's playing pretty deep.
SPEAKER_13He's playing deep.
SPEAKER_03There's a pitch. Vickery squares, tries to bunt it down that way, bunts it foul. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Third baseman's still playing way back. He's counting on that pitcher to cover the third baseline. You just got to get it right there on the grass and keep it off that lip. That's a huge lip. So if it gets on that lip, it's gonna roll off.
SPEAKER_03Peterson looks in and checks the runners. Go back to second, nobody there.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, we got him a little itchy out there. He's got got guys on first and second. No outs.
SPEAKER_03Here's a pitch by Peterson. Vickery Squares pulls back. It's one ball, one strike. Jason Moravic do up next.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, nice job by Vickery getting the back. Back in. They're gonna pitch him to the outside corner, Mike, because they want him to bunt it down that first baseline.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Squares. Bunts it foul again. One ball, two strikes. If that would have stayed fair, it was hard enough. I think it would have rolled right to the third base when he stepped on the bag.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, here we go. One and two. Now you gotta protect. Got guys on first and second. Anything out of the infield is gonna score one.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_13That's trouble.
SPEAKER_03Second baseman. Oh, he dropped it. Off his glove.
SPEAKER_13That was a tough play by him, but had it in his glove and just wasn't able to bring it in, Mike.
SPEAKER_03We go with the official score on that. I think that was a base considered a base hit. No, he gave it an error. Tough awfully hard. Awfully hard on the hometown team there. So bases loaded, no outs. Moravic steps in. He singled his first time up.
SPEAKER_13Here we go. Now you got situation here. We got bases loaded, Mike. Infield's third basin, first baseman. Third baseman's in. First baseman's back.
SPEAKER_03Basin's got a chance to really help his cause in the Crusader cause here. Outside, two balls, no strikes. Long look in by Peterson. He checks the runners and the pitch. That pitch hit into shallow right field, right fielder coming in. Makes the catch for out number one, and that will bring JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Moravik just missed that one, Mike. Got that thing up in the air. So here we go. Base is loaded, one out. Dennison's gonna play him straight up, hoping for a double play ball, but you got JJ Hope at the plate. Got really good speed. Maybe play a little small ball here, Mike. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03JJ came in tonight batting 397. He is flown out to left and flown out to center his two times up. Here's the pitch. Swinging at first pitch. Fouls that one back. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good cut by JJ. They're playing him straight up, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Here's the check of the runners by Peterson, the pitch.
SPEAKER_13That ball is that deep out in the center field.
SPEAKER_03It's over his head. That's off the wall or the fence.
SPEAKER_13They're going, they're coming home. Nope.
SPEAKER_03Nope. JJ was almost all the way down to second.
SPEAKER_13Oh my gosh, yeah. Second baseman, guy on uh on second had to wait because we couldn't tell if he was going to make that catch or not. He was going to tag up, so good job by the outfielder getting that ball in on the relay.
SPEAKER_03RBI single by JJ Hope makes the score two to one. Dennison leads. Peyton Erickson steps in. He's flown out to right field and struck out looking his two times up.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, great, great piece of hitting by JJ Hope. He tagged that ball, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Peterson comes set, checks the runners. Here's the pitch. Peyton hits out into left field. That's what he needed. Two runs will score on that. Peyton Erickson with the R by RBI single. That puts the Crusaders up three to two. They have runners at second and third with one out.
SPEAKER_13Great piece of hitting by Peyton. And he needed that, Mike. Two RBIs. That's just what you need going into the playoffs, getting some confidence up, hitting the ball good tonight.
SPEAKER_03And there goes our guy, Hendrix Heaton runs out of the courtesy run for Peyton Erickson.
SPEAKER_13Guy we've called more than anybody else, I think.
SPEAKER_03This will bring Caleb LeFavor to the plate. Good time for Caleb to put this ball in the gap somewhere and bring in two more runs.
SPEAKER_13Well, he gets that ball up to right center tonight, Mike. That thing's gonna go.
SPEAKER_03Three runs, three hits, one error for the Crusaders. Two runs, one hit, one error for Dennison. Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, beautiful pitch on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_03Again, JJ down third. We haven't seen any pass balls tonight.
SPEAKER_13No. Nothing.
SPEAKER_03Hoping that brings one.
SPEAKER_13You're gonna bring us the luck, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know, you don't bring up when they're throwing a no-hitter, but because when you do, they somebody gets a hit. So let's see if saying we haven't had any pass balls, if that that gets it done. Caleb steps out. Again, three runs by the Crusaders here in the top of the fifth. They've taken a three to two lead. One out with runners at second and third. Well, look, here's pitch.
SPEAKER_13Oh. Just missed it. That's that. That's that inside out hitting. We were so accustomed to seeing Caleb do. He can take that ball down the left field line. He can take the ball down the right field line. I mean, you just can't play him any you can't play him any which way.
SPEAKER_03That pitch way outside for a ball. One ball, two strikes. Nathan Gaswent is on deck.
SPEAKER_13Caleb sits up there with that open stance. It's just a beautiful stance.
SPEAKER_03There's the pitch. Pitch low and inside for ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Peterson's one of the few pitchers. It works quickly, even with running on base.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he does.
SPEAKER_03There's the pitch.
SPEAKER_13There's that thing gonna drop.
SPEAKER_03Nope. Caleb fouls that down the left field line.
SPEAKER_13Not a lot of foul room over there, Mike. You get the closer you get down to the down to the line. It's that's about ten feet between the line and the fence.
SPEAKER_03Reminds me of Lamar's where Pate or Ethan Erickson tried to take the fence down last year. He ran into it and hit it so hard. Here's the pitch to Caleb.
SPEAKER_13There we go. Caleb.
SPEAKER_03Into the gap out in center. JJ Hope will score. That makes the score four-two Crusaders. Crusaders with the runners at the corners. And that will bring Nathan Gaswin to the plate. One out here in the top of the fifth. Crusaders lead four to two.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, great job by Caleb. Inside out hitting, taking that ball to left center. You can't ask we're better at bat. And here we go. Now we got guys at first and third. You got to manufacture a way to get him in. We've seen the double steal, Mike. You and I've seen the delay double steal. We've seen a full double steal right here. You got good wheels on third. I'd like to just see the regular double steal and see what Dennison does, see if they throw down.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that would uh that would be good. Any way we can get another run because uh Healing, they need to pad this lead and build a cushion for innings number five, six, and seven.
SPEAKER_13You know, Henrik's Heaton down there, the freshman, he's got pretty good speed for a freshman. He wouldn't be pinch running if he didn't. I mean, so Caleb's such a smart baseball player with a huge baseball IQ. You know, why not let him either do the delay or actually he could do the full steal, and if he if he's you know, if he sees he's picked or whatever, go back into the delay, and and uh either way you get the run across.
SPEAKER_03So Nathan Gaswitt will step in here with one out in the top of the fifth inning. Crusaders have pushed four runs across to take a four-to-two lead. Peterson checks on Caleb over at first. Comes set at the belt, and here's the pitch. Third baseman drops up third baseman unable to handle that. That will bring Hendricks Heaton in, and that will make the score five to two Crusaders. And Gaswent reaches on an error by the third baseman, and that will bring Dylan Knapp to the plate. Runners at first and second with one out.
SPEAKER_13You know what I like seeing here tonight, Mike, is we're making contact with guys in scoring position. We've had some key hits. Huge, huge. We've been looking for this the last week, and tonight they're really coming through.
SPEAKER_03Looking for it, begging for it. Dylan squares, pulls back, but it's a strike. Dylan is the ninth batter to come to the plate here in the top of the fifth for the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you guys, we got guys on first and second here. Oh, nice swing.
SPEAKER_03Dylan fouls out down the third baseline. No balls, two strikes. Tommy Carroll, who got things started here with a walk in the top of the fifth, is due up next. Still only one out. Peterson delivers.
SPEAKER_13Ooh, that hit him in the helmet.
SPEAKER_03And Dylan hit by pitch. He will take first base, and that will bring up Tommy Carroll. We've got the bases loaded with one out here in the top of the fifth inning. Take a short break here so the umpire can collect more baseballs.
SPEAKER_13Looks like Tommy uh either got a different bat, Mike. We were talking about that on the way up. You know, he broke that bat against Lamar's and and been probably trying to find uh the right fit and the right comfort. Looks like he went to a different bat his last game. He's really been putting the meat on the b on the bat there. So whatever he found, I like it. He's he tagged one tonight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Spray paint Tommy on it. Make sure you keep using it. Here's the first pitch.
SPEAKER_13There, another one. Another hit him. Another hit him.
SPEAKER_03No room for him. That'll bring La Favor in, and that'll make the score six to two. Still have the bases loaded with one out. Chase Beck steps in. He walked earlier in this inning and scored one of the six Crusader runs. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_13Good swing by Chase.
SPEAKER_03Fouls that one off. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13You know, I really like that. Mike was aggressive on that. That's as good a swing as I've seen Chase do in a long time.
SPEAKER_03Pitch by Peterson. Low and low, one ball, one strike. Coach O asked us to bring a W home, so hopefully we will, and it'll be a little birthday present. Nice little birthday present for Coach O. Here's a pitch. Chase hits that.
SPEAKER_13That's deep. It's gonna score one, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Center fielder under it makes the catch. Everybody tags, everybody moves up. Gaswent scores. That makes a score seven to two. Got runners at second and third with two outs.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Chase really tagged that ball deep to left center field. Did the job, Mike. That's exactly what he needed to do. Had guys in scoring position, got the sacrifice fly, moved everybody up. Now we got two guys on second and third with a chance to blow this thing open.
SPEAKER_03Jackson Vickery steps in. He singled earlier in this inning and scored one of the seven Crusader runs, fouls that first pitch off. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Seeing the Crusaders a lot more aggressive tonight on that first pitch.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Much trouble. Settles under it for out number three. Crusaders push seven runs across here in the top of the fifth to take a seven-to-two lead. We will be back in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Headed here to the bottom of the fifth inning here in Denison. Crusaders scored seven runs in their half of the top of the fifth. And they lead this one seven to two. We've got a couple of lineup changes. We've got Aiden of Favor out on the mound. And Mason Moravik is over at first base.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, this is a good opportunity to get some more of our uh fine Catholic sponsors for Catholic Radio and Bishop Healing Baseball, Catholic Charities, Central Bank, Sioux City Storm Lake, Christy Smith Funeral Homes, CNOS Dr. Ryan Meese, Council Oak Supply Company LLC, Culligan, Cybercloak Technology LLC, Dave Pepin Real Estate LLC, Drilling Morningside Pharmacy, Dunes Dental for Kids, Empirical, FM Wealth Management, Matt Lawler, Folk Brothers, Greenville Pharmacy, Greg and Christy Yo Christy Yoakum, Gretkin Family Eye Care, Roz Cove and the Heideman Law Firm, Heinman Family Dentistry, I'm on Communications, JJ Coins and Collectibles, and Jimmy Johns. Thank you for sponsoring Bishop Healing Baseball and Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_03Speaking of Roz Cove, give a shout out to loyal listener Rob and Roz. I know that they've listened to just about every game they can, so we appreciate you guys listening. We appreciate everyone that's listening. If we have any denison parents on, I hope you're enjoying the game and we're doing the best we can to bring it to you live. That first pitch by Aiden Lefaver in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Coach O is probably what a young 40? Yeah. We'll give him that.
SPEAKER_13Young 40.
SPEAKER_03That pitch popped up out of plate. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13You know, everything's just a big circle, Mike. I think I told you this before. Here's a I'll tell you in between pitches here.
SPEAKER_03Here's a pitch by Aiden. That's grounded out to J. Jade Short feels that one cleanly throws over to Mason at first for out number one.
SPEAKER_13How small a world it is. You know, Coach O, his high school head coach, and maybe I've told you this before, was Caleb Wesselman's dad, Jim Wesselman, the legendary coach and Hall of Famer from Bancroft St. John's originally, and then at Remsen St. Mary's. So it's just a big vicious circle. Coach O then coaches down at Healing and who takes over is Jim Wesselman's son. So just a big vicious circle.
SPEAKER_03Seven degrees of Andy Osborne, I think, there. First pitch in there for strike one. No balls, one strike. Everybody else has seven degrees of Kevin Bates. We've got seven degrees of Andy Osborne. Here's the pitch. Pitch outside for ball one. One ball, one strike. Schneider at the plate. Grant Olson do up next. Here's the pitch. That pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, one strike. Aiden deals.
SPEAKER_13Beautiful curveball outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Two balls, two strikes. You know here in the bottom of the pit.
SPEAKER_13I think that might have been his cutter. Talk with his dad about that pitch.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Bounces that one in there. Three balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13I asked him if that was a curve or a slider. You know, he's he's got a slider, he's got that kind of a slower curve on it, but he said he's got a natural cutter that actually moves almost like that slider on the outside corner. That we've kind of had try to figure out what that pitch was.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch by Aiden. Beautiful. Swinging a miss, strike three, out number two in the inning for Dennison. That will bring Grant Olson to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you said both uh both the boys have that natural cut on the ball, and and I talking to Noah, and Noah's pitching as well. I know he's only in third, fourth grade, but I'm gonna imagine he's gonna develop that as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, here's a first pitch. Swinging a miss. Yeah, I saw a uh video on Facebook of Noah. He's practicing warm-up pitches in the dairy aisle in the grocery store. Apparently, apparently everywhere he he can do it, he's doing it. So and if his actual motion is that quick, he's he he's got a quick motion. I think the film was sped up just a little bit, but let me tell you, he uh so you're saying his his career might not be in broadcasting? It it might not be. He's uh his his pitching motion is as fast as he is getting and out of the getting in and out of the press box. That'll bring three balls, one strike. Now we're gonna give him a real big hit because we talked too much. Talked about him for a minute or two. He's a good kid. That pitch in there for strike two. Full count. Should Olsen get on, that would bring leadoff hitter Owen Galvin to the plate. Here's the pitch.
SPEAKER_13Beautiful pitch.
SPEAKER_03Fouled off, held on by Peyton for out number three. And Dennison goes down in order in the bottom of the fifth. We're gonna head to the top of the sixth. Crusaders lead this one seven to two. We'll be back with you in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Heading here to the top of the sixth inning, Healen will send Barovic and the top of the order, JJ Hope and Peyton Erickson to the plate. First pitch here to Mason.
SPEAKER_13Well, he jumped on it.
SPEAKER_03Fouls that pitch off.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton at the end of that last. Danny Boy was he fired up. It's good to see this. Some of these guys, they're pumped. Doing some good things tonight, making things happen.
SPEAKER_03Second pitch to Mason outside. One ball, one strike. Again, thank you to Grace Tot back in the studio. Thank you, Ann Reed and Tim Swedeen for giving John and I the opportunity to bring these games to Crusader Nation. And again, keep Ann Reed and her family in your prayers. I would appreciate it, John would appreciate it, and I know they would as well. Here's the pitch. Mason goes down looking for out number one. That will bring JJ Hope to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, top of the order, one out here. JJ take that ball last time at bass.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he singled and scored the first Crusader run in the fifth inning.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, the thing about it now is don't take don't don't step off the gas, man. We got to just keep it going.
SPEAKER_03Here's the first pitch. Just misses that inside corner for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Yeah, you gotta go all gas, no breaks this time of year. That pitch catches the outside corner for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13He's ready to go. Boy, another rope. That's gonna be another gap or Mike.
SPEAKER_03That's out to the fence. And JJ with his speed in easily with a double. So JJ, single and a double, his last two times up. He's at second base with one out, and that will bring Peyton Erickson to the plate, who singled and scored a run in the seven-run fifth inning for the Crusaders. Crusaders seven runs on five hits, one error. Dennison, two runs, one hit, two errors. So again, the pitching performance from Healens pitchers that we've been looking for and needed, they've given up one hit, only given up two runs to a really good Denison team. I mean, they they've got great batting averages.
SPEAKER_13You know, and just like what we saw here with here, uh wait till the in-between pitch.
SPEAKER_03That pitch inside for ball one, one ball, no strike.
SPEAKER_13And just like what we saw when with East when Jepson had those two errors and he atoned for it with a homer, you know, JJ makes that error out there on characteristic, comes back with the double single. You know, yeah, he'd just been roping it, you know, and to atone for that.
SPEAKER_03JJ down to third on the throwback to the pitcher. So now we've got a runner at third base with one out. And two balls, no strikes on Peyton Erickson with Caleb Lefaver do up next.
SPEAKER_13Just a heads-up piece of running by JJ Hope. You you can't take your eye off him.
SPEAKER_03Here's pitch. Peyton hits that between short and third. That's going to drive in JJ Hope. Healing pushes at least one run across this inning. Peyton Erickson down at first base with the RBI single, and that will bring Caleb a favor to the plate.
SPEAKER_13What a great time for Peyton to get hot here, man. Two hits here, game like uh hit in last game, and uh just we know what the job that he does behind the plate fundamentally, uh as far as calling the game and catching the game, probably as good, if not the best, in my opinion, anywhere in northwest Iowa, if not the state.
SPEAKER_03Got Raiden Fraylett going into pinch run this time, so we get to say Ryden's name on the radio, and if his grandparents and parents are listening, he's out there on first base, and hopefully we'll see him crossing home plate here soon. Crusaders lead this one 8-2. We're in the top of the sixth inning. Throw over. Young Mr. Frelick back in in plenty of time. Here's the pitch to Caleb way outside. One ball, no strikes. Nathan Gas went, do up next. Long look over Ryden and the deal to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Good cut.
SPEAKER_03Swing and a miss. One ball, one strike. You know, we talk about how rare it is for Caleb to strike out. He struck out five times this year. Dennison has two guys who have only struck out three times. One of them is Owen Galvin. That's pretty impressive.
SPEAKER_13Owen Galvin does a great job at the plate.
SPEAKER_03It's hit out to short. And not in time at first. So LaFaver reaches on the fielder's choice. There's two outs.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, another really hard hit by Caleb just right to the short. That's been kind of a recurring theme here the last couple doubleheaders. But I mean he's making great contact.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I saw somebody walking through the crowd here earlier. They had a Owen Galvin on the back of the shirt. It's it looks like a state tennis shirt, so he's a multi-sport uh talented athlete. And we're not just saying that because dad's here. Here's pitch. It doesn't hurt though. We're trying to keep the AC on. That's what we're trying to do. No balls, one strike, two outs. Crusaders have pushed one run across here in the top of the six. They lead this one eight to two. Caleb with a sizable lead out there. That pitch outside. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Today, that's two games uh the last three we've seen Ethan.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I asked him if he listened to his between game interview last week. He said no, he was too nervous. It's already done, Ethan. You can turn it on and listen to it. Caleb dives back in. Gas win at the plate, one ball, one strike. Crusaders lead this one eight to two. Here's a pitch. Catch that outside corner for strike two. One ball, two strikes. Dylan Knapp do up next.
SPEAKER_04That's 63 for.
SPEAKER_03At pitch bounces in there.
SPEAKER_13That's going out to center. Good job by the shortstop coming over and backing up the second base.
SPEAKER_03Do we bring him up again? That's young Mr. Galvin making that long run over behind second base to keep that from getting to the outfield and holding Caleb at second base. Two balls, two strikes, two outs. LaFaver at second base. Swinging a miss, strike three. Nathan strikes out to end the inning, but the Crusaders push another run across. They lead this one eight to two as we head into the bottom of the sixth. We'll visit with you again in one minute.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader sport on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Chase Beck at short. Got some lineup changes here for the Crusaders. JJ Hope is on the mound. Cal Geezy slides out into second base, and Chase Beck heads over to shortstop.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I like seeing this. We got a really nice inning out of Capable of Favor. This will give uh JJ Hope some pitches. We've seen JJ come in in relief on several occasions. Really does a good job, uh, kind of more of our closer than anything. So get him some innings going into the playoffs.
SPEAKER_03Dennison will send Owen Galvin, Lincoln Beck, and Cole Kastner to the plate. Well, I thought as fast as we were moving early, that we wouldn't have to turn the lights on. The lights are finally on here at the field.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that sun's gonna be a real problem here, Mike, uh, for these batters as that sun comes down.
SPEAKER_04Number four.
SPEAKER_13Coming down to the west home plate sits right here on the kind of on the uh oh on the east corner, and that that sun just right in their eyes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's hard enough on us. I can't imagine what it what it's like down there. Here's first pitch by JJ in there for strike one, no balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good pitch on the outside corner by JJ.
SPEAKER_03Wind up in the pitch. I pitch it out to Gaswin in right field, takes one step over and makes the catch for out number one, and that will bring Lincoln back to the plate. He has struck out, walked, and scored a run.
SPEAKER_04Center fielder number three. Lincoln back.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good first batter for JJ. Good sign. Two pitches for a strike, hitting the corners.
SPEAKER_03First pitch, swing and a miss. No balls, one strike. Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes. De Beck. He'll be followed by Kassner. JJ with the wind up and deals to the plate. Beautiful. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night. Strikeout. Out number two. That'll bring Cole Kastner to the plate.
SPEAKER_13It's a really good sign, Mike. Uh JJ really hitting his spots. Peyton setting up, and and he's right on it. That's a good sign seeing JJ do that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're gonna need all the arms we can get when it comes playoff time. Here's the first pitch. And that sails over the head and behind Kastner for ball one. One ball, no strikes. JJ wanted to show that I can throw it across the plate and throw it behind you as well.
SPEAKER_13Right when I say that, then he airmails one. Here's the pitch. There he comes back.
SPEAKER_03He didn't airmail that one. That's right down the middle. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he's coming right at him. Just hitting Peyton. Peyton working good inside out, east-west.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch by JJ. That's lined out over Cal at second base. Gas went over to scoop it up, throw it back in. So single for Kassner, and that will bring Ryan Slecta to the plate. Grounded out unassisted to the first baseman and had the two RBI double his last time up.
SPEAKER_13Number one.
unknownTrey Hartwig.
SPEAKER_13Trey Hartwig.
SPEAKER_03Two outs here in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryan Schlechter steps in. Here's the pitch by JJ. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, great pitch on that outside corner, Mike.
SPEAKER_03JJ checks Hartwig over at first. Deals to the plate. That's fouled back at us for strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton really working with JJ, giving him a great target on that outside corner. Looks to me like they're just trying to keep it simple with JJ. Just having him barrel down, throwing strikes. A lot of fastballs tonight.
SPEAKER_03Checks a runner at first. Here's the pitch. Fouled off. Count remains. No balls, two strikes. Should Schleckta get on? That would bring Peterson to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Schlechte really, really gets up close to the plate. JJ came on the inside corner on that last pitch. Peyton, Peyton brushing him back a little bit. There you go.
SPEAKER_03It's grounded out, grounded softly. The third Vickery unable to field it. Runners at first and second for Dennison. And that will bring up Andy Peterson.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that would have been a really tough play for Vickery to make. One of those high bounces off the plate.
SPEAKER_03Peterson checks with the coach down at third base, steps in, he's ready to go. Runners at first and second, two outs here in the bottom of the sixth. JJ steps off. Now he's back on, ready to go. Crusaders lead this one eight to two. We're in the bottom of the sixth inning. Here's the pitch. Low in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Good start to the inning for JJ. Running into a little bit of trouble here.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he just needs to bear back. Got two outs, concentrated on the batter. Runner means nothing.
SPEAKER_03Bounces that one in there for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, this is where JJ uh struggles a little bit, Mike, if he has any. It's when there's guys on base and he has to come from the stretch. He has a tendency to overthrow that thing and and and short hop it to the catcher a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. That's fouled back. Two balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Really good recovery there. Hit that outside corner. Fastball.
SPEAKER_03JJ looks in and gets the sign. He comes set. And the pitch. Just misses outside. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, this is where Peyton comes in. Just gotta go down. Settle him down. Forget about the guy's second base. I mean, he means nothing. Just concentrated on the batter here.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch by JJ. That's in there for strike two. That'll bring the count full. Runners will be going on the pitch. Three balls, two strikes, two on, two out. JJ looks in. Throwback to second. Runner back in time.
SPEAKER_13There's so much dirt on that base at second base, Mike. I can't even see it.
SPEAKER_03JJ comes set. Here's the pitch. Beautiful. Swinging a miss. There we go. Two strikeouts in the inning for JJ Hope. Dennison gets two on, unable to push anybody across. We're gonna head to the top of the seventh. Crusaders lead this one eight to two. We'll catch you back here in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Olsen is into pitch. Peterson goes to third. No, not Peterson.
SPEAKER_04Not pitching for your Munar's number eight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Peterson to Peters. Peterson goes back to third base.
SPEAKER_04Andy Peterson going to second. Kennedy Nimitz.
SPEAKER_03And moving to second is Nimitz. Dylan Knapp will step in to get things started for the Crusaders here. They lead this one eight to two here in the top of the seventh inning. First pitch to Dylan. Fouls that back for strike one. No balls, one strike. He'll be followed by Carroll and Beck. Dylan hit by a pitch his last time up, and here's the pitch. Swing and a miss, strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Nice curveball in the outside corner. Fool Dylan a little bit there.
SPEAKER_03Wind up in the pitch. That's high for ball one. One ball, two strikes. Here's the pitch to Dylan.
SPEAKER_13Well he got a hold of that one.
SPEAKER_03Left fielder settles under that easily for out number one. And that will bring Tommy Carroll to the plate. He has singled, walked, and been hit by a pitch and scored one of the eight Crusader runs.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Dylan just underneath that last one, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Wind up in the pitch to Tommy. Pitch is high for ball one, one ball, no strikes. Here's the pitch. Fouled off at the plate. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Tommy Carroll's been Mr. Consistent all year. He's been very solid. Solid at the plate, solid on the field.
SPEAKER_03Swinging a miss, strike two. One ball, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good inside fastball.
SPEAKER_03Wind up in the pitch to Tommy. Got that outside corner. Carroll goes down looking for out number two. And that will bring Chase back to the plate. He struck out looking, walked, and scored a run, and flown out to center field.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Chase has had some really good at bats here. And I like how aggressive he's been.
SPEAKER_03Swings that first pitch, fouls it off out of play.
SPEAKER_13There again, he's swinging at that first pitch. We've been talking about it. Chase has really been going after that first pitch. Good cut by him.
SPEAKER_03No balls, one strike. Here's the pitch. That pitch is high for ball one. One ball, one strike. Should he get on, that would bring Jackson Vickery to the plate. And the pitch.
SPEAKER_13Boy, there it's a tag. He tagged that one. He hit that one. That ball's gone, Mike. Say goodnight to it, folks. That ball's gone. There you go. Dan listen at home. Your grandson just absolutely tagged that ball. Left center field.
SPEAKER_03Home run for Chase Beck. That makes a score 9-2. I did not have that on my bingo card, John.
SPEAKER_13Boy, he turned on that one. That's the second one he's turned on tonight, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he and that that was out toward the sun. That's why it took so long for the.
SPEAKER_13Oh man. Couldn't yeah, I couldn't tell.
SPEAKER_03Home run by Chase Beck here in the top of the seventh inning, and that brings the score to 9-2. And Vickery steps in here. That pitch inside. Ball one, one ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13I know Graham and Mom are sitting down there on the sideline. They're cheering him on. Here's a pitch. There's another one. It's hit hard by Vickery. That's another one. Nope. Left field.
SPEAKER_03Settles under it for out number three, and that will retire the side. Chase back drives in a run with a home run and makes a score nine to two. We're going to head to the bottom of the seventh. We'll be back here in 60 seconds.

SPEAKER_02And now back to your Crusader Sports on your Catholic radio station.
SPEAKER_03Heading here to the bottom of the seventh inning, Crusaders lead this one 9-2. Peyton Erickson is the new pitcher. Looks like Ryden Frelick behind the plate. Dennison will send Roman Bigness, Candon Nimitz, and Lucas Schneider here in the bottom of the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's a good chance for us to see Peyton. We've uh I think Mike, we've only seen him a couple times. Have to go back and look at his stats. So we know he's got a really good fastball. Good chance for them to get some innings of him. They're gonna probably need him maybe down the down the road here in the playoffs to close the game out.
SPEAKER_03Peyton has thrown one inning. Teams are hitting 333 against him. He's given up two hits, five runs. None of those runs earned two walks, hit two batters, and struck out one.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, I thought we've only seen him, I just think that one time, and it's a good good opportunity for us to and the coaches to see what he can do here in the seventh inning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you never know who or how many arms you're gonna need during that playoff run. So Peyton's finishing his warm-ups here.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good chance to see Ryden Frelick out there. Shout out to his grandparents, his folks, uh Justin and Lisa. Hope you're listening. If you're not here at the ball game, good throw down a second by Raiden.
SPEAKER_04Peyton pitched the bottom of the seventh inning for the Crusaders from the throw Peyton X.
SPEAKER_03So here we go. Crusaders lead this one 9-2.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton just got to stay within himself, throw strikes, let our fielders do the job. Let's get out of this seventh inning.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. Outside ball one.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, not a bad first pitch. Just missed, just a little bit on the outside corner.
SPEAKER_03Another defensive change. Looks like Chase Beck is back over at second base. Pitch outside for ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Outside ball three. Three balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Boy, not missing by much. He's right around the zone there. There we go.
SPEAKER_03Pitch in there for strike one. Three balls, one strike. Crusaders scored seven in the fifth, one in the sixth, and one in the seventh. Here's the pitch. Way outside ball four.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he just needs to make a little adjustment on the mound there, Mike. He's he's just missing on that outside corner.
SPEAKER_04Second baseman, number 10, Camden, Nimitz.
SPEAKER_13Now we got to come from the stretch here. He just needs to make a little feet adjustment there on the mound.
SPEAKER_03Nimitz steps in. He is struck out and grounded out short to first. His two times up. There's the pitch. Pitch bounces in there for ball one. One ball, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, it's the first curveball we've seen him throw. Just in front of the plate a little bit there.
SPEAKER_03Throw over to first back in time. Peyton comes set and deals. That pitch in there for strike one. One ball, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good pitch by Peyton.
SPEAKER_03Peyton looks in, starts a wind up. Here's a pitch. Bounces that one in there, gets away from right, and runner will go down to second base. Two balls, one strike. Schneider is due up next. Checking the runner at second. And here's the pitch. That pitch way outside. Three balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he's coming off that mound, and and and when he throws it, he's he's striding a little bit toward the outside of the plate, causing him a little bit of problems where he's missing on that outside, Mike.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. That's ball four. Back-to-back walks for Dennison here in the top of the seventh. Two on, no outs. Schneider steps in. He has struck out his two times up.
SPEAKER_04Schneider.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton just got to take a deep breath. Just play catch with Ryden here. Let them hit it. Let our defense make a play. Boy, they're really giving them that gap between short and third.
SPEAKER_03Checking the runners. That pitch bounces in there and gets away from Ryden. Everybody moves up 90 feet. So runners, two runners in scoring position for Dennison. Here in the bottom of the seventh, they trail this one 9-2. One ball, no strikes. The count to Schneider. Grant Olson do up next. Peyton looks in and starts his windup and the pitch. That pitch is high for ball two. Two balls, no strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you just got just gotta relax. Come in. Gotta fight back here. Get back in the count.
SPEAKER_03Here's the pitch. That pitch outside. Three balls, no strikes. First two runners reached on walks. Advanced on the ball that got away from the catcher. So we've got three balls, no strikes. Runners at second and third with no outs. Here's a pitch. That's ball four. Pitch got away from the catcher, so that'll bring a run home. Runners at first and third with no outs. Scores now nine to three.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you got to call timeout here. You gotta you gotta calm Peyton down here a little bit. He's talking to Ryden and Richard.
SPEAKER_04Number eight, Graham Dolson.
SPEAKER_13You gotta kind of pretend there's nobody on, Mike, and and uh zero outs obviously and and and just go after the batter. Right needs to be ready to throw. They're gonna try to steal here, try to get a guy in scoring position.
SPEAKER_03I would imagine that's what they're gonna try to do. Try to put the pressure on here. Here's the pitch. Outside corner for strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13There you go, Peyton. Right there. Just keep throwing to right and just play and catch. Let your defense do the job here.
SPEAKER_03Checks the runner at third. Checks the runner at first, and here's the pitch. Runner goes. That's grounded out to short. JJ fields it. Throws over to first for out number one. Another run scores for Dennison. That makes the score nine to four. And still a runner at second base with one out.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, nice bang bang play from JJ. Slow roller. Shortstop. You really got to make the adjustment with this thick grass in the infield.
SPEAKER_03That'll bring Owen Galvin to the plate with one out. Dennison has pushed two runs across here to make it a nine-to-four game.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you got a good hitter here in Galvin.
SPEAKER_03Here's the first pitch. Outside corner strike one. No balls, one strike.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, Peyton's starting to settle in here a little bit. Three out of the last four pitches, strikes on that outside corner.
SPEAKER_03Peyton with a long look in, being very deliberate here. Checks the runner at second base. And the pitch.
SPEAKER_13There we go.
SPEAKER_03Foul back, strike two. No balls, two strikes.
SPEAKER_13Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Lincoln Beck, do up next.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, good job by Peyton. Just concentrating on the batter.
SPEAKER_03Everybody resets here. Peyton comes set. Here's the pitch. Got him on the outside corner for strike three. Out number two, and that will bring Lincoln back to the plate.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, beautiful fastball in the outside corner. He's really getting in his zone. Just started to play catch with Ryden a little bit. That's a high fly ball to center. Dylan Abson.
SPEAKER_03Dylan settles under it for out number three. And that will retire the Monarchs here in the bottom of the seventh. They push two runs across to make the final score nine to four. A lot of good things for the Crusaders tonight. They score nine runs on eight hits, one error. Dennison scores four runs on three hits and two errors. Our next broadcast will be Friday from East High. Approximate pregame 6.45 with first pitch, approximately 7 o'clock. John, your thoughts on man?
SPEAKER_13First of all, I mean, just great pitching duel here in the first three innings uh between Gaswent and uh Galvin both come in through really well. Galvin gave up two hits. Uh uh Gaswin didn't give up a hit, uh faced the minimum. We got really good solid pitching. Uh Mason Moravic came in other than the missed cue. He really did throw a good inning. Uh Caleb LeFaver came in through uh uh Dylan, or excuse me, uh Peyton Erickson actually threw a decent uh uh seventh inning, and of course JJ Hope uh uh sixth inning uh with no runs and no hits. So I saw solid pitching, but what I really liked, Mike, was that we came up and we had extremely good timely hitting tonight. Something we've been looking for, and they really produced tonight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they were aggressive at the plate and uh looks like you know what wasn't working was letting pitches go by and getting behind in the count. So let's try something different, and uh that worked tonight. So let's see if we can carry that over and continue it. Uh thank you, Grace, back in the studio. Thank you, everyone, for listening. If you travel to Dennison, you're listening, have a safe trip home. And we look forward to visiting with you on Friday from East High as the Crusaders take on Storm Lake.
SPEAKER_13Thank you so much. This was this was awesome, man. Great setting, beautiful ball field, and what we saw tonight from the Crusaders. Hopefully we can take that and use that momentum and going into the playoffs Friday night.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. That uh if that's the Nathan we're gonna see the rest of the year, then yeah, uh, we're in good hands with him. So thanks everybody for listening. Crusaders win this one nine to four. Uh have a great rest of the week. We'll talk to you on Friday.
