SPEAKER_03And good evening and welcome to week seven of Crusader Football here on Catholic Radio. Tonight we're live outside amongst the crowd here at Webster City on a beautiful fall evening as the 3-3 Crusaders take on, have made the two and a half hour road trip to take on the one-five Webster City Lynx in yet another must-win game for the Crusaders to stay relevant in 3A District 1. The Crusaders looked dominant in shutting out MOC Floyd Valley last Friday, while the Lynx are looking to bounce back from a 56-21 loss to an undefeated Sioux Center team. In that loss, Andy Brim's Lynx squad rode the legs of work out workhorseback Caleb Hansen as he rushed for 144 yards on a whopping 31 carries and two touchdowns. When the Lynx do go to the air, and it doesn't happen often, they've only thrown the ball 29 times this past year. It is likely to be senior Alex Staley making the toss to his favorite tight end, Grant Ahrens. Staley last week was three for four for 34 yards and a touchdown again in that loss to Sioux Center. This Lynx squad will rely heavily on a spinner wing offense that is almost exclusively run-oriented and predict and uh predicated on really deceptive ball fakes. They don't do a lot of different things, but uh it is very deceptive in what they do. They are very much a run-oriented ball team. For the three-and-three Crusaders, they come into the game looking to push their record past the 500 mark as they load the box to defend a very unique Lynx offense that will require a good deal of gap discipline by the Crusader defenders. Offensively, senior quarterback Eli Milkey will once again spearhead an offense that has had to rely heavily on the passing game in trying to get some and while it tries to get more consistency in the running game. A talented receiving cord led by Grant Wickcomb, Grip Prant Prince Wigba, Jesse Moss, Jake Knapp, and a Sir Muttumble will need to be productive again tonight. While at the same time, Coach LeFleur and his staff is looking to establish the run. When they do look to run the ball, it'll most likely end up in the hands of junior Dylan Knapp. Alongside the voice of Bishop Henel Baseball, Mike Skaggs, who's once again filling in for Travis Morgan, who's got hockey duty again tonight, and Grace Todd back at the studio. I'm Bob Gary, and once again we're honored to bring you our listening audience, yet another installment of Crusader football here on Catholic Radio. You're listening to the Dave Peppen pregame show here on Catholic Radio. We also like to recognize the other pregame sponsors. They include Bob Rose Point After and North End Zone, Heinman Family Dentistry, Cruise Financial Group, Missouri Valley Landing Cattle, Ruley Family Chiropractic, Staber Meats, Shram Electric, and Mr. Matt Lawler with FM Wealth Management. KFHC, KOIA Radio, and Bishop Healan wish to thank all our loyal listeners as always for taking time out of your Friday evening to look join our coverage of Bishop Healan Football. And of course, we once again want to thank our great sponsors, the Wonderwrite Bishop Healing Athletics here on Catholic Radio. Without your support, none of our Healing coverage would be possible. Well, Michael, kind of a unique setting. I guess we kind of get spoiled with our indoor spots most of the time. But it's it's actually on a beautiful night. It's kind of fun to be outside.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it is fun to be outside. I told you when we walked in, I said, Welcome to baseball, Bob, because this is what John and I some have had to go through a little bit. But this does prove, I've told John all during baseball season we need to do one from the bleachers out at Bishop Mueller Field, and it can be done. But really looking forward to a great football game tonight. It'll be fun to watch this Webster City offense. Uh like you said, very unique, and uh it'll test that that Crusader front.
SPEAKER_03You know, a lot of these things tonight, Mike, are really throwback. We're we're playing on a grass field for one. We're out here amongst the cornfield on a beautiful evening. Uh again, we're uh calling the game from outside, and uh it's really a unique situation, and it's it's uh the way Webster City plays football is very much throwback. It's what you might have seen a lot in the 50s and 60s with uh wing T and a lot of deception and movement in the backfield and very little passing. Uh it's gonna be unique tonight to see how the Crusaders handle it because it's just something you don't see night in, night out.
SPEAKER_05No, it's uh it's something that uh you know you've you've got to work hard to uh defend and and practice to get ready for it because uh it's there's probably less than 10 or 15 teams in the state that would run something like this. So uh it's it's definitely small town football tonight.
SPEAKER_03And Andy Brim here at at uh Webster City has had a lot of success in the past. Now this year has been a little bit uh a little bit of a down year for him. They've got a lot of young kids, uh maybe not quite the explosiveness that explosiveness they've seen in some of the past years, but uh their outstanding running back and Caleb Hansen. I tell you what, man, he's had a lot of carries on the air. He bangs it out at about 3.1 yards a carry, but he gets a ton of carries, and he's a tough one to bring down. So he's gonna be the focus of this Crusader defense tonight when the uh when Webster City has the ball. We were watching the freshman game, and the course of the Webster City freshman, the Lynx freshman, uh run the same offense, and uh boy, when they get it going, it's just three, four, five yards at a time, and they chew a lot of clock up.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they do, and and if they can if they can make that initial burst through the line, uh those those offensive linemen will get behind that ball carrier and they'll they'll push them down the field as far as the officials will let them, you know, let them do it.
SPEAKER_03Once again, you're listening to tonight's Dave Pepin pregame show here on Catholic Radio. Again, along with Dave Pep and our other pregame sponsors, include Bob Rose Point After and North End Zone, Heiman Family Dentistry, Cruz Financial Group, Missouri Valley Land and Cattle, Ruley Family Chiropractic, Staber Meats, Shram Electric, and Matt Lawler with M FM Wealth Management. Again, this is uh the last road trip of the regular season. The Crusaders are gonna return home for back-to-back home games in the next two weeks. But uh, first things first is taking care of this uh Lynx running game and uh trying to get a W another W on the board because it is it is a critical time right now. The Crusaders are sitting in the 18th spot in the 16 pla uh 16 team playoff roster with their RPI. So uh it it really, Mike, it's it's come down to a must-win situation over the next three games, and you can only tank one game one game at a time.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, absolutely. They they you know it doesn't do any good to uh worry about next week if you can't get if you can't win this one. And with two straight home games, I'm guessing that Travis uh he'll probably be available the next two weekends. He doesn't have to travel.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, we'll be we'll be inside and there'll be plenty of food. Yeah, Travis will be there, but uh it's great to great to have you along, Mike. Uh great road trip today. It was uh it's just a beautiful day to be out. So once again, uh you're listening to Crusader Football here on Catholic Radio. We're gonna take it back to the studio and hear from some of our fine sponsors. We'll also hear our pregame prayer. When we come back, we'll have tonight's starting lineups from homecoming here at Webster City. Once again, it's the three and three Crusaders against the one and five Webster City Lynx. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_00You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Conco Sioux City, and KOIA, Storm Lake, Sioux Land Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Once again, welcome back to the Dave Pepin Real Estate pregame show ahead of week three of 3A District 1 football. As tonight, the Crusaders have made the long road trip to Webster City to take on the Lynx as they look to push their season record over 500 and continue its quest to secure a 3A playoff spot. Tonight it's Friday Night Football again on Catholic Radio alongside Mike Skag Skaggs. I'm Bob Garrett. Please remember to thank our vets, both uh retired and active duty, for the great work that they do. It's because of them the great things that we have in this country are possible. Well, it's Michael, it's uh just about uh kickoff time here, 3.35 to go. Uh thoughts before we get into our starting lineups.
SPEAKER_05Well, it's gonna be interesting because uh through two district games, we're averaging 31 and a half points a game, and they are averaging giving up 31 and a half points a game. So uh that'll be uh that'll be a true test for the Webster City defense, and we're giving up 16 points a game, and they're averaging scoring 21. So uh it it's gonna be uh could be a quick night as far as as the game goes with uh the rushing that Webster City is gonna throw out at us, but I have a feeling that we're gonna see a few passes tonight, too, just watching uh the warm-ups. That quarterback's got a pretty good arm.
SPEAKER_03You know, again, it's pretty clear what you have to do when you when you take on a team like Webster City that runs the the offense that they run. You've got to stop the run, and uh, I'm sure the focus all week has been exactly that. Uh defensively, it's gonna be interesting. You know, they're there are a team in Webster City that practices against the run consistency all consistently all week. Then when you bring a passing offense like the Crusaders have in, uh it's got to be an adjustment. I mean, you can never you can never simulate exactly the type of speed and the the accuracy that this uh Healing passing game has.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. Uh I mean you Dylan, you know, Dylan Knapp is fast, JJ Hope has got speed, and I I you know that was evident on the baseball field last year. And if those guys can get open and get down the field, uh it's gonna be a long night for that defensive secondary.
SPEAKER_03You'll probably get a pretty good dose of the uh PA announcer here at uh at Webster City. He is sitting right above us here, and we're right right below the speakers in our outdoor post here. It's uh it's a beautiful evening to be out here as uh both both groups of captains are at midfield right now as uh the referees are going over their final instructions. One more shout out to our pregame sponsors. They are Dave Peppin, along with Bob Rose Point after in North End Zone, Heinmann family Dentistry Cruise Financial Group, Missouri Valley Landing Cattle, really family chiropractic, staber meets, tram electric, and Matt Lowler with FM Wealth Management. Looks like the Crusaders have won the toss and they are going to choose to take the ball. That Crusader offense will look like this. The quarterback is number five, Eli Milkey, the 225 pound senior. Running back number 22, Dylan Knapp, 165 pound junior. Number 15, Jesse Moss will line up in that fullback spot at 195 pounds. He's a senior. Will line up all over the place, listed as a tight end, 235 pounds at 6'5. The Whiteouts are as good as you get. Number one, Grant Wickham, the 175 pound senior, and Prince Wagba, also 175 pound senior up front, as it's been throughout the course of the year. It's Max Asoff, Aldo Gonzalez, Max 2, Keaton Schweitzer, and Nolan Mickey. That is your Crusader starting offense. Again, your specialist is Reed Herbold. He'll handle both the kicking and the punting duties. Return men for the Crusaders will be Knapp, Hope, and Wickcomb. And Max 2 will handle the long snapping duties. For the Webster City Lynx defense, their defensive ends are John Wilberding, a 245-pound senior, and uh Maverick Ahrens, a 235-pound junior. Their nose tackle is Israeli Torres, a 200-pound senior. Their linebacking core, Edwin Ramirez Nelasco, Boston Farley, Grant Ahrens, and Caleb Hansen. The cornerbacks are Luke Blake and Grayson Simonton, and their safeties are Kois Bertrand and Alex Staley. Staley is also their quarterback as they get ready to kick off tonight, handling their kicking duties, will be Torres. Again, he is a senior. He's putting a toe to ball here. So we're getting ready to go from Webster City. Tonight's first quarter kickoff is brought to you by Mills Shalmer, Pitts and Associates, and Lifeworms. And the ball's in the air, and already we have a whistle.
SPEAKER_05I think Webster City was offside on the kick. The name of the uh name of the night is Maverick Ahrens. That's that's a true football name right there. You gotta love the spelling of it, too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03M-A-V-Y, excuse me, M-A-V-R-Y-K. Interesting it is. It is, in fact, a uh infraction on the uh Webster City Lynx here on their opening kickoff. They'll have to tee it up back at the 35. Big thanks to Wall of Fame, Graphics Inc., Tri-State Dental Care, Sneaky's Chicken, People's Bank, North Risk Partners, McClintock Insurance, Christy Smith, Funeral Homes, and Drilling Morningside Pharmacy. They join Mills, Shelmer, Pitts and Associates, and Lightforms as your first quarter sponsors. Crusaders await the kick here. Deep, they're going to line up around the 10-yard line. Good ball in the air. It's going to go all the way to the goal line and taken out. And they're going to say it uh made the end zone there. So Hope's not going to be able to bring it back. Ball's going to be spotted at the 20. First and 10, Crusaders. Yeah, that's too bad because he he was off and going whenever he made that catch. Beautiful kick, man. That was high and uh actually into the wind. Nicely done by uh Torres, their kicker. So first and 10 for the Crusaders. Ball be spotted at the 20-yard line, right directly in the middle of the field. Natural turf here at uh Webster City. Crusaders in their road whites, blue numbers, gold pants, gold helmets, and they're gonna line up to start the game with uh Wagbaugh off to the right by himself. Shotgun formation. Now a shift in motion. They're gonna go under center. A little double tight fullback look. They go right up the middle and they pop a big there. Big run. They're gonna be at the 40. The 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10. He's gonna be dragged down. I believe that was Bodhi Shram. Yeah. Lining up in that fullback spot. He goes all the way from the uh Crusader 20-yard line, all the way down to Webster City's 10-yard line. That was a little bit of a dose of their own medicine there with that uh play call. That's a look we haven't seen, and uh Bodie hasn't had a lot of carries on the year. So first and goal now from the 10.
SPEAKER_05And he's over getting a rest. All right. That was a long run for him.
SPEAKER_03Back to shotgun formation, split to the right. Now they line up. Aesoff is a fullback. He leads the charge up here. Knapp weaves through the Webster City defense. He's gonna get down all the way to the uh two-yard line. Great run there by Dylan Knapp.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he saw that hole and he cut back to his left and was able to get about six or seven more yards on that play.
SPEAKER_03Second and goal, just what the doctor ordered here is the Crusaders have marched the ball all the way from their own 20-yard line down to the Webster City two-yard line here, second down and goal, 11-04 to go here in first quarter action. Single back option here. They're gonna hand a nap. Knapp goes off right tackle, reaches for the end zone. That's gonna be a touchdown. Two-yard touchdown. Dylan Knapp on his second carry of the game.
SPEAKER_05He was hit at about two-yard line, was able to stretch that out and get that touchdown.
SPEAKER_03Really, really nice job there in that first offensive set. Uh, all the way on the ground. Uh, kind of a surprise for the Crusaders as coming in to try and tack on the extra point will be our outstanding kicker, Reed Herbolt. Again, Max 2 will handle the snap. And Suran Bridges will have the hold here for the Crusaders. 1053. So that drive went 80 yards in a minute, seven seconds. Uh quick score for the Crusaders as they've jumped up six to nothing here. Extra point pending. Here's the snap. The hold is good, kick is up, and it's right through the middle. 7-0 Crusaders here or very early on at Webster City. Great start for your Crusaders. We're gonna take it back to the studio for a 30-second spot again on the Security Bank scoreboard. Crusaders draw first blood, 7-0.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And welcome back, everyone. Crusaders with a uh very strong drive to start the game here as they go up 7-0 on the uh Webster City Lynx here, minute 7 into our ball game. As uh Crusaders get ready to kick it off. Herbt's gonna kick it from his own 40-yard line. He puts it high in the air. It's gonna be fielded in the end zone, and it's gonna be a touchback as uh we're gonna get our first look at this unique Webster City offense. Once again, that drive for the Crusaders, just three plays and 80 yards, as uh highlighted by a 70-yard Bodhi Shram fullback dive that went off the left side, and he has streaked down that sideline, was caught at the 10, and then Dylan Knapp handled duties from there with an eight-yard run and a two-yard touchdown run. Crusaders up 7-0 here, just a minute seven on that first touchdown drive.
SPEAKER_05Quick public service announcement here. The transmitter is down in Jackson. We've got someone heading out to try to take care of that. You're able to hear the game on the app. If anybody is able to hear it on the radio a little bit, you can hear it on the app really well. So uh we'll keep you updated whenever we get things back going.
SPEAKER_03Webster City draws uh nice play up on that first down as as Ahrens goes for twelve yards and a first down, pushing the ball up to the 32 yard line. Once again, Airns with a little surprise pass there on first down for Webster City. Gets 12 and uh first and ten here for Webster City. Yeah, both coaches made the decision to let's go with the other team's strength for our offense. Tight formation for Webster City. Ball's fake, guns right up the middle. There's gonna be about three to four yards, and you're gonna see a lot of uh a lot of tush push tonight. Uh it's one of the beauties of this offense as those linemen tuck in behind the running back and uh try and get a little extra yardage out of that as Hanson's gonna get four yards on that carry. Second down and six, ball spotted at the uh Lynx 36-yard line again. Uh Webster City Lynx, one and five on the season, coached by longtime coach Andy Bream. As they're gonna break huddle here, they're gonna take their time, they're gonna use that full full amount of that uh play clock. Play clock sits at 10, tight formation. They're gonna spin, goes direct snap, right back to Hansen, and he's got nothing there as the Crusader defense jumps uh jumps in there, a loss of one. It's gonna be bring up a third down now and five. And normally, Mike, this would be a passing down for most teams, but uh more than likely you're gonna see it in the air here. Or on the ground here, excuse me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I would imagine the way they've got uh all that motion in the backfield and deception, I would imagine it's gonna stay on the ground, and uh they'll be interesting to see if they get it, you know, fourth and one, fourth and inch is what they do.
SPEAKER_03Ball spotted now at the 37-yard line, third down and five for the links, shotgun formation, ball goes back, and he's gonna throw the ball quick out and uh nicely defended by the Crusaders. It's gonna come up right on first down yardage as they kick it out to number eight, and that's uh Ahrens. And he's five five yards on that. So maybe your biggest surprise of the night is uh Mr. Staley, the quarterback, uh quick two for two tonight. Both uh targets have been to Aaron's, and uh they get another first down ball spotted at the 37 or excuse me, the 42-yard line of the Lynx. 851 to go here on your security bank scoreboard. Crusaders up 7-0 by way of a three-play, 80-yard drive to in their opening possession. First and 10 here. There's Hansen going up. He goes off right tackle, busts through, and uh gonna get uh about three yards. And this is again a young man that uh is used to that uh three yards at a time, deal. He's gonna carry the ball a lot. You're gonna see a lot of deception in that backfield.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, those those have been direct snaps to Hansen there. That's uh that's the only deception once the play starts. It's not back to the quarterback and then he hands off. It's going directly to Hanson every time.
SPEAKER_03It's it's funny, and they're too deep. They don't even list Staley as a quarterback. They list him as a as a slot back. So it's gonna be direct handoffs, not necessarily to still Staley could go anywhere here. Fullback uptight, three backs in the backfield. There's a little inside counter, and it's gonna go for big yards with the carry. There is number three, Kois Bertrand. And Kois is gonna get nine yards in that carry. First and ten once again for Webster City as they've given the ball into plus territory at the Crusader 44-yard line. Really nicely executed play there. Yeah, this offense looks really sharp so far. Third uh, third first down on this drive. This drive started at the 20-yard line for the Lynx. 740 and running here. Again, uh, games go pretty quickly when you put the ball on the ground as much as as the Lynx do here. Crusaders need to uh firm up the defense here on first down and put him in long-yard situations here. Tight formation. They're gonna go hands in a sweep right. He breaks a tackle and is gonna be brought down after a two-yard gain. Good job by the Crusaders there of limiting first down yardage to just two. They uh had a convoy ahead of him. Uh three backs plus uh the right tackle pulled on that. Uh but uh Crusaders with Wickham coming up from the defensive backfield are able to limit it to a two-yard gain, second down and eight for the Lynx. Ball spotted at the Crusader 42-yard line. Once again, a big thanks to all of you tuning in tonight. We're hope we're coming through loud and clear here. We're uh crowd is suddenly kind of starting to move in on us here. We're outside once again. There's shotgun formation, big fullback carrying the ball up the middle. That's number 44 for Webster City. That's Boston Farley at 210 pounds. He gets three yards there. So Farley with the carry. He's gonna bring up a third down and five now.
SPEAKER_07Brought down by Azon.
SPEAKER_05That's got to be favorite name number two for the Webster City team.
SPEAKER_03Boston's a big boy. He's he's a he's a load to bring down. Third down and five now. Ball spotted just inside the Crusader 40-yard line. Once again, Mike Skaggs joins me tonight. I'm Bob Garrick's great to have all of you listening here. Big third down opportunity here. We're halfway through quarter number one with 6.07 to go. Shotgun formation for Webster City. They're gonna snap it back. Hansen inside reverse, and the defense is right there. Great job by the Crusader defense, is led by uh Finnegan Pack, who led the charge there, came up on that inside reverse, and nothing going for Webster City there. Carrying the ball that time was Bertrand, and we're gonna give him no gain on that. So it's gonna bring up a fourth down now and five from the Crusader 39. You would think uh this is probably going to be uh four down territory here. Again, it's fourth and five. They are showing uh punt formation. I forgot about that short gain on second down. So snap is high, kick is up, nice kick, it's high in the air. It's gonna be fielded at the three-yard line by Hope. Hope got has a little alley down the left side and brings it out to the 22. Nice return there. 17 yards on the return for JJ Hope. Ball's gonna be spotted at the 22 as the Crusaders get the uh Webster City Lynx off the field on their first possession and look to add to what already is a 7-0 lead with 5.15 to go here on your Security National Bank scoreboard. Ball first and 10 from their own 22-yard line, left hash mark for the Crusaders. They're moving left to right on your radio dial.
SPEAKER_05Be interesting to see if they stick with the run here, if they start throwing the ball.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna go with three receivers to the right. Wickcom spread out far to the right. Uh Knapp sits in the backfield, shotgun formation for Milky. Milky calls his count. He's gonna take a quick two-step drop, throws it out, and just a little bit low as JJ Hope had one-on-one coverage there, and he couldn't handle the ball there. Incompletion on Milky's first throw of the night.
SPEAKER_05Uh play that looked pretty good there. Yeah, that was well designed. That uh he just kind of slid across uh the field there, and and he had wide open field if he could have made that catch.
SPEAKER_03Really appreciate all of you who have tuned in tonight. We know you have lots of listening options tonight with the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes both playing tonight. Uh, we certainly enjoy having you with us. Uh it's a beautiful evening here at Webster City. Second down and 10 now for the Crusaders. They're gonna line up once again. Three receivers far to the right. The tight end Matumbo lines up to the left. There's an inside handoff to Knapp, and he is smothered at the line of scrimmage. Great defensive play there by number eight, Grant Arns of Webster City. No gain on the carry for Knapp. And it's gonna bring up a third down and ten now for the Crusaders. Dillon felt that hit. Yeah, it uh it actually looked kind of promising on the on the handoff, but uh Aaron's filled the filled the gap very nicely there. Third down and ten now for the Crusaders, passing situation, three receivers right. McTumble, the tight end, is lined up to the left. Knapp is a lone back. Milkey shotgun formation, three-step drop. He's got time, he's going deep. He puts it high in the air, and Wagbaugh just couldn't quite catch up there as uh Wagbaugh was covered nicely by Alex Staley, the uh two-way player for Webster City. So three and out for the Crusaders early on here. Milkey is over two in the air as the Crusaders are gonna be forced to punt. What win there is here tonight, and it's kind of picking up a little bit, is basically in favor of the Crusaders. So herbow will snap back, nice snap, balls in the air. Line drive kick's gonna be fielded at the Webster City 44-yard line, and that's where the Webster City will start. It's second possession of the evening. Once again, a big thanks for our first quarter sponsors, Mills, Shell Hummer, Pitts and Associates, and Light Forums, along with Wild Fame Graphics Inc., Tri-State, Danal Care, Sneaky's Chicken, People's Bank, Nortrisk Partners, McClintock Insurance, Christy Smith, Funeral Homes, and Drilling. Morningside Pharmacy. So three and out on the Crusader second series. Let's see what Webster City has in store here as they start their second possession of the game. Ironically, it's the Webster City Lynx who are two for two through the air, and the Crusaders find themselves 0 for 2. Tight formation, 44-yard line. Once again, Staley drops back, lobs the ball, and nothing going there. Uh trying to set up a little play to the short side of the field, and uh found nothing there, so uh Staley just threw it away for his first incompletion of the night. Second down now and 10. And really, as a running offense, these are not the kind of situations you like, second and long and third and long.
SPEAKER_05No, absolutely not. But uh I have a feeling we're gonna see at least one more pass on this series unless they get a big run here on second down.
SPEAKER_03Ball spotted just shy of the 45-yard line. Webster City now. They actually split a receiver out to the left side, three guys in the backfield. They're gonna direct snap it, and it's gonna go to Hansen. Hansen gets a nice push there and actually gets six yards on the carry. Nicely done there, and it brings up a very manageable third down now and a short four. Ball spotted on plus side of the field, just it over the field, just over midfield on the Crusaders side of the of the field. Finnegan Peck looks over to the sideline to instruct his defense as to what their instructions will be. Again, third and four for Webster City. The clock continues to tick away at 350 left here in quarter number one. Crusaders up 7-0. There's a snap and an inside handoff, and it's smothered, and the ball's on the ground. Great job by Max Aesoff of sniffing out the inside reverse. Referees are trying to unpile things here. It is a Crusader ball. I think Aaron Lis ended up with that ball. Ball's gonna be spotted now at the Webster City 49 yard line. I'm gonna apologize uh in advance. Uh I've been battling a cold all week, so uh there may be some coughing spurts that happened throughout the course of the game. Please bear with me. My apologies to you for for that. Uh I'm doing my best to keep rolling here. Ball spotted first and ten, Crusaders on Webster City's 49-yard line. They're gonna split Wickham out to the right, wagbaugh to the left, eye formation. They're gonna spin and hand off to Knapp. Knapp goes off left tackle, breaks one tackle, goes all the way down for a 12-yard gain. Nicely done by Dylan Knapp there. 12 yards on that carry. It's gonna be a first down for the Crusaders. Uh, really nice job by the left side of the Crusader line there in uh springing Dillon for a uh 12-yard gain. Ball's gonna be spotted at the 39-yard line now of Webster City. 329 to go here in quarter number one. Healing going without a huddle here. Slot receiver to the right, Wickham's out wide. There's a ball fake, roll out by Milky. He's looking deep. He's got uh Wickham there and throws a little bit behind Wickham. Boy, he had a lot of a lot of green grass ahead of him, just couldn't bring it in, and that's gonna bring up a third down, or excuse me, now a second down and ten. Really like the design of that play. They had uh Wickham set up as a slot back, wagball as a wide out. Uh Prince was able to clear the action out, and uh Wickham, who's always dangerous, kind of hung up in that slot formation and was wide open, just couldn't handle the catch. Second down and ten now. Crusaders ball spotted at the 39-yard line. This is a formation we saw a lot against East High. Four receivers to the right, empty backfield, shotgun formation for Milky as he's gonna drop back a quick little screen to uh Wagbaugh, and it's gonna go incomplete. So early on here, Milky with four incompletions and bring up now a third down and ten for the Crusaders again. Ball spotted at the uh Webster City 39-yard line. You would think that this is probably four-down territory for the Crusaders. Here facing now a third and ten. 321 to go here, quarter number one. Big thanks to all of you tuning in. Uh let's see what the Crusaders can do to capitalize on this situation. So they're gonna send three receivers to the right. Matumbo is a lone receiver to the left side, and uh he's got uh boy, they they bring those cornerbacks up tight, and they're gonna give instead to Knapp, and Knapp sprints up the middle. He's at the 15-10, five. Knapp's gonna go coast to coast, 39 yards. Dylan Knapp on third down and 10, but we have penalty flags all over the place. Beautifully designed play there. They had the uh Webster City defense all spread out, ran a little inside trap to Dylan Knapp, and he went basically untouched, but it's all for not as a holding call is gonna bring that back for the Crusaders. A really beautifully designed play there, and uh boy would have been nice to see Dylan get the get the 39-yard touchdown on that. But uh ball now is gonna be spotted as a spot foul. So it's actually gonna gain the Crusaders some yards. It's gonna bring now a third down and six now for the Crusaders at the uh 35-yard line.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Dylan got outside, made a couple nice cuts on that, pretty much did it all on his own, and like you said, it was all for naught, but uh third and six here, so I definitely think it's probably four down territory here.
SPEAKER_03Really nice homecoming crowd is filtered in here at Webster City, and why not on a beautiful night like tonight? So third down and six, Crusaders. Matumbo right side, three receivers left, and once again penalty flags fly. Timeout healing. There'll be a timeout. We're gonna take a quick 30-second timeout with you with 3-10 to go here in quarter number one, Crusaders 7. Webster City nothing. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And once again, welcome back, everyone, to Webster City. The Crusaders face a third down, and we'll call it seven from the Webster City 35-yard line. A 39-yard touchdown run by Dylan Knapp was called back here just a moment ago. And now the Crusaders have a big third down as they try and build on what is a 7-0 lead here with 3-10 to go in quarter number one. It's homecoming night here in Webster City as the Crusaders break huddle. Three receivers right, one to the left. And now they're going to motion Dylan Knapp out to the left side. Drop back from Melky. He's going to load up and throw deep. He's got Whitcomb wide open touchdown. 35 yards.
SPEAKER_05Fantastic throw and catch there.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely lobbed it perfectly into the hands of Grant Whitcomb, the outstanding senior receiver for the Crusaders. So one play after a 39-yard touchdown run is called back. A 35-yard touchdown completion from Milky to Whitcomb. Gives the Crusaders temporarily a 13-0 lead with the uh extra point pending here. Crusaders line up. Now they're going to shift into their extra point formation here. That touchdown occurred at the 3-0 four mark of the first quarter. Uh a short drive. Crusaders recovered a fumble at the 49 and quickly marched it in. Here's a snap. Place is down, kick is up, and it's good. 14-0 Crusaders here. 3-0 four to go. Quarter number two. We're back to the studio for a 30-second timeout. Again, it's Crusaders 14 and Webster City. Nothing here from Webster City. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And welcome back, everyone, as the Crusaders prepare to kick off. Up 14-0 with 3-04 to go here on your Security National Bank scoreboard. One touchdown by way of the ground with a nap two-yard run. The second touchdown was Milky's first completion of the night. It resulted in a 35-yard touchdown strike to Grant Wickham. Kick is in the air and it's in the end zone. So Webster City's going to have the long field to go. Ball be spotted at the 80-yard line or at the 20-yard line, excuse me. You know, it's one of those things, Mike, that team offenses like Webster Cities do not respond well to being way behind. And this is kind of the start you would hope you'd dial up for the Crusaders here and uh maybe force them to get out of their comfort zone a little bit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they uh they're gonna this continues, they're gonna have to start throwing the ball. And you know, they started out two for two on passing and struggled here the last couple of uh series, but we'll see what they can do here, see if they keep it on the ground.
SPEAKER_03Tight formation, direct snap back to Hansen. Hansen goes right up the middle. They're gonna give him uh we'll call it we'll be generous and give him two yards on that. It's gonna bring up second down and eight. And literally they had their entire 11 players within about uh 25 feet of each other, four guys in the backfield, seven up front, and they're just uh direct snap and try and pound the ball right up the middle. Yeah, Max Two introduced himself to the running back on that play. And this is a game that the likes of uh two and uh Milky and these guys, they gotta love games like this where man, they're in the action every each and every play. Absolutely second down and eight. Webster City direct snap, little uh inside reverse here, goes to number three. That's uh Bertran, and Bertram's gonna get uh we're gonna give him four yards on that carry. And it's gonna bring up a third down now and three for Webster City. Again, they're uh an offense that's very content with the three to four yard gain, time after time.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. If they if they can average four yards carry, then they're gonna get a first down just about every series.
SPEAKER_03Again, if you're uh picking up some uh a little extra noise tonight, we are getting out. We're outside, we're right beneath the uh play-by-play announcer here at uh Webster City, right below the speakers here. So there's you're probably gonna hear a lot of actions outside of what we have to say. There's a direct snap. Hansen's gonna roll to his right. Now he's gonna try and throw it, and it's gonna be picked off. Grant Wickham sniffed that out as Ahrens ran a crossing pattern, and he's gonna intercept the ball at the 32-yard line.
SPEAKER_05It was a good played play design, it just didn't uh didn't go the way Webster City wanted. Grant was able to step in front and intercept that.
SPEAKER_03So that's Hansen's first throw of the night, and it's gonna be an INT. And the Crusaders are gonna have prime field position once again. Ball spotted inside the 35-yard line, plus territory at the 34-yard line of Webster City. Already up 14-0 with a minute 35 to go in quarter number one. Three receivers at the right, Matumbo to the left, and now they're gonna shift Matumbo to the backfield and go four receivers right as Knapp goes in there. Direct snap to Milky pitches out to Matumbo. The big 6'5, 235-pound senior gets ahead of Steam up, and he's gonna be thrown out of bounds near the 25-yard line. Nice run there as we're gonna give him uh 10 on that. So the ball carrier once again once again a new wrinkle here as Matumbo gets the carry. And uh he's gonna get 10 on that carry. First and 10 Crusaders ball spotted now at the Webster City 24-yard line. Yeah, that was a good strong run on his part. He he drugged that defender about three or four yards. We're starting to see a lot of new wrinkles here from this Crusader offense. Matumbo sits up in the slot, Wickham spread wide wide to the right. Now Matumbo moves in motion, three receivers left, and hops alone back. You're gonna give on a speed sweep to number one Wickham, and Wickham just outruns the Webster City defense for a gain of ten. Beautiful run there by Grant Wickham. As uh guys that we don't traditionally see with the run. And they're gonna say he was pushed out of bounds after an eight yard gain. So it's gonna be second down and two. Ball's gonna be spotted at the 24. Yard excuse me at the uh 16-yard line of Webster City here. 121 to go. Again, uh running back was forced out of bounds there. Wickham was forced out. Wickham comes wide to the right. He's got man-to-man coverage there by Grayson Simonton. And instead, they're going to go right up the middle. Looks like the snap was fumbled there. Wasn't able to get it cleanly from the center. So Milky with no gain on that. Did a nice job getting back on the ball. Kind of a poor exchange there. In fact, it's going to be a loss of about a half a yard. Third down now and two. Balls on the 16-yard line of Webster City. And even one minute left here in quarter number one. Big thanks once again to our signature sponsors for quarter number one. They are Mills Shellhammer Pitts and Associates and Lightforms. Crusaders huddle up. Quickly move to the line of scrimmage. Under 10 seconds left on the play clock. They've got uh Wickcomb and uh Wadbaugh wide to the right. Now there's going to be penalty flags. I think we're going to see a motion procedure by the Crusaders. Also, big thanks to Wall of Fame, Graphics Inc., Tri-State Daniel Care, Sneaky's Chicken, People's Bank, North Risk Partners, McClintock Insurance, Christie Smith, Funeral Homes, and Drilling, Morningside Pharmacy. They have been your first quarter sponsors, and it's been a good first quarter for the Crusaders with 38 ticks to go here in the quarter. Crusaders up 14-0 on your Security National Bank scoreboard. Third down and eight for the Crusaders. Probably four down territory here as the ball sits at the uh now at the 22-yard line. High formation, two receivers to the right. Milky playfact, and he is going to be hammered down near the 35-yard line. An all-out blitz by the Links, and they guess right. Second big play he's made tonight. 13-yard loss on that. As Milky had no chance on that, as our first quarter is going to end with that. And when the Crusaders come back, they're going to be faced with a fourth down. And uh we'll call it 24 yards. So once again from Webster City, it is the Crusaders 14. Webster City, nothing after one quarter of play. We'll be back after this 30-second ad from one of our great sponsors. It's Crusader Football on Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Mira. Once again, welcome back, everyone. After one quarter of play here from Webster City, it's the Crusaders 14. Webster City Lynx nothing as the Crusaders are going to bring on their kicking team. This was a drive that at one point was down at the 16-yard line of Webster City, but uh a penalty and a uh big time sack by the Lynx have put the Crusaders in a fourth and very long, and they're gonna choose to try and punt here and keep Webster City pinned deep in their own territory.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, both teams had some wrinkles in that first quarter that we weren't expecting.
SPEAKER_03Nice punt there, angling for the sideline by Herbull. The block beautiful bite on it. It's gonna be down near the one-yard line. You could not do it any better than he just did it. Once again, that outstanding kicker for the Crusaders, Reed Herbold, pins Webster City inside their own one-yard line. Second quarter tonight brought to you by Keller Williams real estate agent Tammy Bertrand and Liberty National Bank, along with Myra Favor State Farm Agency, Lawler Fixtures, the Bargain Center, Service Master, Siouxland, Raz Cove, and the Heinemann Law Firm, Soho Kitchen and Bar, and Tim and Deb Timmons. 1150 to go here, quarter number one. It's Webster City now, or quarter number two, excuse me, Webster City now with the ball just inside their own one-yard line. And uh boy, they're gonna get nothing out of that first play as Hanson went up the middle and absolutely no gain there. Second down now and ten from deep, deep in the shadows of their own end zone. Roz is out in uh Washington for that Iowa game this weekend. Well, we hope you're tuning in tonight. Uh, I'm sure you're at the ball game by now, but uh always great to have our great sponsors and and so many of them. Uh it is again through your generosity that uh all this is made possible. Second down now and 10 for Webster City here as we try and duck around the people uh here in front of us. There's a direct snap, he's got space, Hanson outside. Hansen may go as uh he gets deep into territory here. Now he's gonna be brought down at the 45-yard line. What a run there by Caleb Hansen from the one-yard line. He popped outside, and uh luckily Prince Wagbaugh had the uh Jets to bring him down, but I think it's gonna go for now it is. We're gonna get another holding call, I believe, this time on Webster City. Yeah, it looks like holding back at the four-yard line. And that is a costly one there. And boy, Hansen uh put the Jets on there, and uh it's not often somebody who gives Prince Wagba a run for their money in a sprint, and uh he didn't bring him down until the 45. But again, it's all for not. It's gonna be spotted back at the two-yard line, a spot foul, second down now, and eight for the Lynx. As they break huddle here, gotta be very careful with the ball handling in this situation as they are literally pinned against their own goal line. Tight formation, shotgun, snap back, goes to Hanson. This time he's gonna go the left side, and that uh crusader left side of the line there, right side of the line, excuse me, is Johnny on the spot, uh led by among others, uh Finnegan by Baker brings up the bigger. Baker and Finnegan Peck there, led the charge, third down now, and seven for Webster City. Once again, a two-yard gain for Hansen on that carry. 1032. If you're just joining us, 1032 uh here to go in quarter number two, Crusaders with 14 points in that first quarter by way of a two-yard nap, touchdown run, and a 35-yard Milky to Whitcomb pass. Third down now, tight formation. There's an inside handoff with the balls. Number four for Webster City. That's Grayson Simonton, and Grayson's only gonna get uh two yards on that, and it's gonna bring up a punting situation from deep in their own territory. The ball's gonna be spotted at the five-yard line, and uh boy, this is dangerous because uh you've got the always dangerous JJ Hope sitting back near the Webster City 40-yard line. And so if Torres out kicks his coverage here, don't be surprised if we don't see a big JJ Hope return here. As uh Torres is gonna kick it. Uh he's gonna stand right now, just two yards away from the end of the end zone. Snap is good, kick is off, and it's a long, booming kick. It's gonna take JJ Hope all the way back to his 23-yard line, and now JJ's on the move. He's go to the 20, 30, 35, jumps over a player and goes out of bounds near the 37-yard line. I tell you what, what a punt there by uh Torres for Webster City. That'd be about a 65-yard punt on that. Just when they needed it, and now they're gonna whistle a penalty flag. I wonder if they're not gonna call a hurtling fall on uh there's a flag on the play on JJ Hope there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're pointing that direction. That's probably what it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_03So the the penalty flags were thrown near the 34-yard line. That's the Crusader 34-yard line. Again, this is a this is a series I thought would start well into Webster City territory, but now the Crusaders are gonna start this drive near their own 20-yard line here. Not really clear what the uh what they went with for a call there, but uh whatever it is, the Crusaders are gonna get the ball at their own 18-yard line. Fourth possession of the night for the Crusaders. 14 to nothing Crusaders here with 9.22 to go here in quarter number two. Crusaders ball right hash mark. They've got two receivers wide right, two to the left. Knapp sits in the backfield with Milky. Now Milky adjusts him to his right. Snap is back. Milkey two-step drop there. He's gonna throw deep, and he's got Wickcomb wide open, and Wickham's gonna go coast to coast.
SPEAKER_05That's a touchdown.
SPEAKER_03He has simply outran the defense. Touchdown, Crusaders 82 yards as the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_07Wickcomb for Crusaders touchdown once again score on the big play.
SPEAKER_03We got a Crusader player down here, but what a throw by Eli Milkey. He laid it out there softly, and boy, I tell you what, when Whitcomb gets a step on you, you're not gonna catch him. He caught the ball near the 40-yard line of Webster City and just simply outsprinted the Webster City defense, and that's gonna put the Crusaders up 20 to nothing here with the uh extra point pending here with 9-10 to go in quarter number two. And we're trying to get a get a visual here on just exactly who went down for the Crusaders. It was one of our Crusader linemen and was deep in the in the backfield, and now he's gonna get to his feet.
SPEAKER_05Now the coaches are gonna shield his numbers, so we can't tell you.
SPEAKER_03But uh the young man appears to be moving okay, so that's uh that's a good sign. Crusaders outstanding trainer is there right on the spot. Uh so uh we'll get back to action here in the uh end zone just to the left of us here as the Crusaders uh are looking to get one more body on the on the field here for the extra point. 20 to nothing Crusaders 82 yards on that Milky to uh Wickcomb completion. Put the Crusaders up 20 to nothing here. Yeah, it's coming on to do the long snapping now for the Crusaders is gonna be Tommy Carroll. Yeah, that was Aldo Gonzalez that had to help himself off the field. He looks like he's doing all right. So Carroll's gonna handle the snap duties once again. Uh Saron Bridges does the holding. Herbold with the kick. Snap is good, kick is down and up, and it is perfect. 21-0 Crusaders here. 9-10 to go. Quarter number one. Once again, the uh beneficiary of a one-play 82-yard drive. Milky to Wickham as the Crusaders now lead 21 to nothing. We're gonna take it back to the studio for a 30-second timeout. When we come back, we have yet another kickoff by the Crusaders.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03It's nothing like being uh two for six for 117 yards and two touchdowns. That's uh that's getting the most, that's getting the most out of your completions there as Milky's laid out a couple beautiful passes to Whitcomb for long distance touchdowns as the Crusaders leave. 21 to nothing here. 9-10 to go here. Quarter number two. Big thanks to all our great sponsors, including our Security National Bank sponsorship, who gives us our scores and uh time updates. Kick is in the air, it's gonna be fielded at the seven-yard line by the Lynx, and it's good return up the middle, and he's gonna get all the way to the 39-yard line. That's Hansen, their outstanding uh return man and running back, and he puts Webster City in good territory here. Ball spotted at the Webster City 39-yard line. Once again, a big thanks to our second quarter premier sponsor. That is Keller Williams Real Estate Agent Tammy Bertrand, along with Liberty National Bank. Our other sponsors include Myra Faber, State Farm Agency, Lawler Fixtures, the Bargain Center, Sirius Masters, Sioux Land, Rob Co Roscobe, and Heineman Law Firm, Soho Kitchen and Bar, and Tim and Deb Timmins. And so we're gonna get uh officials timeout. Not sure what happened there as they're gonna wave uh Wickham off the field and uh coming in his spot on the defensive backfield gonna be number 26 for the Crusaders. That's uh Javon Bergen. Not exactly quite sure. It was a referee that uh I don't know, maybe they saw some blood or something on his leg. He doesn't look like he feels too good over there. So tight formation, direct snap, goes back. Hanson goes deep into the territory, nice run by Hanson there. They're gonna get eight yards on the carry brought down by number 50 uh for the Crusaders, max two by Wegbaugh and Wegbaugh, so that'll be nine yards on that Hanson run. And by tell you what, if you give uh you give Mr. Hanson, you give Caleb a little room here, uh he can move.
SPEAKER_05That was quite a collision between him and Finnegan Peck. Peck took the brunt force on that one, but uh he came up and didn't back down.
SPEAKER_03He hit him hard. Second down and one now, tight formation, shotgun set. It's gonna go to Hanson, direct snap. He's gonna go off the left side. Hanson's gonna get three in a first down for Webster City. Ball's gonna be spotted now in Crusader territory at the Crusader 49-yard line. Webster City trails the Crusaders 21-0 with 8-21 on your Security National Bank scoreboard. First and 10, a fresh set of downs for the Links.
SPEAKER_05They do milk that play clock every every play.
SPEAKER_03It has the uh has the looks of a pretty quick evening here, Michael. First and 10 here, Webster City again, tight formation, four backs in the backfield, direct snaps gonna come back to Hanson. He's gonna go off the right side. He's got a little gap there, and he's gonna get ten yards on that, or just shy of ten yards. We'll give him nine, and so uh nice Hansen run as Hansen faked the handoff to Staley and uh took it off that right side, and there was a nice hole opened up over there, second down and one for the second time in this drive for Webster City. Seven and a half minutes to go here in quarter number two. Again, the Crusaders up 21-0 on your security bank scoreboard. Whitcomb's back out there on defense. So we got a slot to the right side, shotgun formation. Staley'll be a direct snap to Hanson. Hanson's gonna go right up the middle, and uh, he's gonna take on number 14, JJ Hope for the Crusaders, and uh he's gonna win that battle as he gets five yards on that carry, and already 13 carries on the night for 46 yards for Hansen. Not a surprise. Remember, he carried the ball 31 times last week in that loss to Sioux Center. First and 10. Lynx. As we're gonna get a fresh ball put into play here. Ball spotted at the Crusader 34-yard line. Again, uh, Mike on this drive, they've been able to really be successful in first down. The Crusaders got to tighten the ship up on first down.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it makes it easy when you you've got second and one, second and two.
SPEAKER_03Slot right. There's an inside handoff off the left side, and it looks like it's gonna be a gain of four there. That was uh Simonton with the carry. His second carry of the night. Two carries for uh six yards. Late flag at the end there. Look like we had a little extracurricular there. I'm not sure who uh predicated all that. We'll see what the refs have to say on this. Flag sits near the oh, it's gonna be a face mask on the Crusaders, and that's gonna uh that's gonna march Webster City inside the red zone of the Crusaders as the ball is now gonna be spotted at the Crusaders 16 yard line. So Webster City with a promising drive here at the midway point of quarter number two as they have a first and ten now from the Crusaders 16 yard line.
SPEAKER_05This is what you would expect out of this offense grind grind it out and uh end up with short yardage on second down.
SPEAKER_03Staley sits in the shotgun formation, they're gonna give it to Hanson now to Staley. Staley's gonna drop back the lefty throws it deep into the air, and there's nobody over there. And uh this could be a grounding call here. I believe the referees are gonna they may call in the troops here. If in fact that is the case, he threw the ball from around the 28-yard line, so it'll be a loss of about 12 on uh loss of down and distance if they decide to call the grounding here. And it seems like uh yep, in fact, they're in fact they're gonna mark the ball all the way back to the 30, so it'll be a loss of 14 yards on the intentional grounding there. Loss of down, so it's second down. So really a very good call. In fact, they're gonna mark it at the 35 yard line. So we'll call it a loss of uh well, loss of 17 on that. Boy, that uh the first down marker sits at the six-yard line, so it's second down now and twenty-nine yards for Webster City here. Not a lot of plays in the playbook for second and twenty-nine. Dreck snap goes to Hansen, goes off the right side. Great tackle there by JJ Hope as he upended Hanson after a gain of three. And it's gonna bring up a third down and very long yet. Third and 27 here on the scoreboard at Webster City as officials timeout. Get an officials timeout, and now they're gonna send Hope off the field. Not exactly sure. This is the uh most I've ever seen of officials directing players to leave the field. Hopefully, it's nothing serious there. And now we're back to action, and even six minutes left here in quarter number two. Crusaders on your security bank scoreboard lead 21 to nothing. Webster City on the move here, but they face a second down. In fact, it's a third down and very long, third and twenty-five. The first down marker sits, it's a six-yard line. The ball sits now at the uh Crusader 31. There's a direct snap, inside handoff to number four for the Crusaders, and there was a blatant hold that's not called, but uh number four Simontons only gonna get three yards on that carry, and it's gonna bring fourth down and very long now for Webster City. I don't know if their uh kicker uh Torres he's he's shown a good leg here. Uh this would be about a 43-yard kick should they choose to do so. Down 21 to nothing. I think Mikey just gotta roll the dice and try and get something here. Yeah, that looks like uh that's what they're gonna do. They're gonna can't imagine they're gonna run it. Fourth down now and 20. Ball sitting at the 26. First down marker sits at the six as Drex snack back to Saley, and uh once again we see Laundrie on the field. And it's gonna be a procedure call against Webster City. So an already bad situation gets even worse for the Lynx here as they now face a fourth down and 30 from their own 31 or from the Crusader 31 yard line. Remember the Crusaders are back home next week as they'll uh welcome Humboldt, and then they'll close the season out the following week at Memorial Field with a very good Algona team. So back-to-back home games after tonight's road trip to Webster City, and now we get a timeout by the Crusaders. We're gonna take a 30-second timeout as well. Again, the Crusaders 21. Webster City nothing. 453 to go here in quarter number two. We'll be right back.
SPEAKER_19Since 1891, Prime Bank has been part of your story. Standing beside farm families, carrying on small businesses, and helping young families find home for generations. We're your neighbors, and neighbors take care of each other. Prime Bank. Earn more your way. Number FDIC.
SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and welcome back, everyone, along with Mike Skeggs and Bob Gary. It's uh a beautiful night here in Webster City. We're sitting just above the 45-yard line. Uh first time this year. We've been outside for the call, but it's a beautiful evening. Temperatures hanging around 70 degrees, and uh Crusaders have found themselves off to a fast start here with 453 to go in the first half. They lead 21 to nothing as Webster City breaks huddle coming out of the timeout. They face a fourth down and 25 from the crew from the Crusader 31-yard line. Staley's gonna drop back, throws a little screen pass. They get pretty good yardage back, but uh back to uh we'll call the gain of 15, but it's not gonna be enough, and it's gonna be a turnover on downs there. That pass completion went to number 15, Gordon Bartfried of Webster City. And that's his first catch of the year, 15 yards on that catch. But it's uh gonna be a little bit short there as the Crusaders are gonna take over. Ball spotted now at the Crusader 16-yard line.
SPEAKER_05See if the Crusaders choose to grind it out here and uh try to eat up as much of this clock before halftime, or if they want to air it out like they have been successful so far.
SPEAKER_03It's really been a nice mix for the Crusaders tonight of pass and run. Of course, the big plays have been the long bombs to Wickham as they're gonna go with a sweep to the right side or to the left side there, and with the ball and ahead of steam there is gonna be uh JJ Hope, and uh they lined up JJ in the backfield, and JJ is gonna get eight yards on the carry. So nice way to start the start this drive. Hope with a 14-yard run or with a uh eight-yard run for the Crusaders. So a nap with 28 yards unofficially on the night. Uh Milky by way of a big sack, negative 13. But uh the big one came with uh Bodhi Shram with a 70-yard run to lead off the game here. Second down and two now, eye formation. They're gonna give it right up the middle, and the ball's fumbled, and it's gonna be recovered, I believe, by Webster City.
SPEAKER_05Webster City got it. Wasn't a clean handoff there, and Webster City was able to jump on the ball.
SPEAKER_03So Webster City finds himself with some fresh light here. Ball spotted exactly on the 20-yard line. They trail 21 to nothing with 403 to go here in quarter number two, but uh an excellent opportunity to maybe put some points on the board on uh Webster City homecoming week here. Big crowd is filtered in uh here at Webster City type formation. Staley drops back, surprise throw. He's got a wide open man down, but Wickham's there to break it up and incompletion there by Staley. Mike and I were watching uh Mr. Staley warm up. Uh he's a lefty that he's for as little as they throw it, he's he's got a nice arm.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he does have a really nice arm. He's able to get it out there and uh just overthrew that just a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Second down and ten now. We're just under four minutes to go here in the first half. Crusaders again lead 21 to nothing on the Security Bank scoreboard. Staley on the night uh with uh three completions, which is a lot for him. There's an inside handoff to Hanson, nicely defended by the Crusaders. Finn Peck and Dylan Knapp are right there to knock Hansen down after a gain of two. Hansen to Barker Hansen now with 51 yards on uh on the evening unofficially as uh JJ Hope's gonna be a little bit slow getting up here. He's kind of pointing to that right ankle, which is uh has given JJ some trouble this year. As uh Bishop Healing's trainer as well as uh John LaFleur are gonna come out and check things out. We're gonna take it back to the studio for a 30-second time out here. 346 to go in the first half. It is the Crusaders 21, the Lynx, nothing.
SPEAKER_17Jimmy John's toasted sandwiches. Take the fresh baked bread you love and turn up the heat to toasted perfection. Crispy and golden on the outside, melty and gooey on the inside. Order a toasted sandwich at Jimmy John's today.
SPEAKER_03He's able to walk off the field rather gingerly. Um probably kind of a 50-50 as to whether we see him anymore tonight. But uh back to the action third down and eight now for Webster City. Ball spotted at the Crusader 18-yard line. 345 to go here in the first half. Again, the Crusaders up 21-0. There's a direct snap, inside hand off to Hanson. He cuts back, goes up the middle, and he's gonna get about uh three yards on that carry.
SPEAKER_07Hansen the ball carrier.
SPEAKER_03And once again, Webster City faces a big fourth down here, fourth down and five, three and a half minutes to go in the quarter. As uh the ball spotted at the 15-yard line of the Crusaders. It's gonna be spotted on the right hash mark.
SPEAKER_05Got a chance to get a big stop here and get that ball back and try to go down and score another touchdown or get a field goal before halftime here.
SPEAKER_03It'd be really nice to tack on some points here and keep Webster City out of the end zone. Webster City's gonna break break huddle now. They line up Staley right behind the center. Hanson just off to his left. Staley fakes it to Hanson, throws it up in the air, it's into the end zone and incomplete there. Tried a little trickery for Webster City there, went for not there, nicely covered by the Crusaders, and it's gonna be a turnover and down. So the penalty or excuse me, the fumble by Knapp uh early in just a moment ago uh doesn't lead to any points for Webster City as the Crusaders are gonna take over from their own 15-yard line here. 256 to go in the first quarter. Or excuse me, in the first half. As the Crusaders are gonna break huddle, they're gonna send Wagba wide to the right. Wickham's got solo coverage off to the left. Matumbo slides up in the slot, eye form or excuse me, shotgun formation. Direct snap. There's an inside handoff. It's gonna go for about three yards on the play. With the carry that time was Dylan Knapp. So we'll give Dillon two yards on that carry. Unofficially 31 31 carries or 31 yards on uh seven carries for Dillon tonight. He did uh again score the first touchdown of the game. That was a two-yard touchdown. Just a minute, a little over a minute into the ball game. Second down now and eight for the Crusaders. 225. Clock is running, direct snack to Wilkie. He's gonna go up deep. Muttumble. Got Metumble there, and uh Montumbo just couldn't find it. Uh looked over his right shoulder, and the ball went to his left shoulder. Even if he'd been able to catch that, I think it would have been out of bounds. So third down now and eight for the Crusaders, 219 to go here in first half action. Once again, as we hit halftime tonight, we'll get a message once again from uh the executive director of Catholic Radio, Tim Mr. Tim Swedeen. So we look forward to that here at halftime. 219 to go in the first half, Crusaders up 21-0, third down and eight. Milky gets a direct snap. I think we're gonna see a procedure infraction by the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_05As somebody up front flinched. Either way, now it's third and about 13.
SPEAKER_03So now the Crusaders face as uh big third down here, third down and 13 for the Crusaders. 217 to go in the half. Ball spotted again at the uh 12-yard line of the Crusaders. Knapp's gonna line up the backfield, three receivers to the right, Matumbo, the lone receiver to the left. Shotgun formation, direct snap. There's pressure, they throw it over the middle, and it's in and out of the hands of Prince Wagbaugh. Really a pretty nice throw there by Milky. Wagbaugh just could not bring it in. So once again, it's gonna be a three and out for the Crusaders as the punt unit comes on with 213 to go.
SPEAKER_05And it should give Webster City fairly decent field position as uh Herbold is gonna uh and they still have all three of their timeouts, so plenty of time here in this second quarter.
SPEAKER_03Snap is good. Herbold gets a kickoff. It's gonna be fielded with a fair catch at the uh 41-yard line of the Crusaders. So Webster City once again is gonna find themselves in prime scoring position here inside the Crusader half of the field at the 41-yard line. 207 to go here, three timeouts left for Webster City as the Crusader defense is gonna come on to the field. Reminder again, we're back on the air next week. Pregame 645. Game time 7 o'clock as the Crusaders will welcome in Humboldt to Memorial Stadium. We'll be good after two weeks on the road to get back home.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it'd be nice to get in front of that home crowd and uh finish the season off strong.
SPEAKER_03First and ten now, Webster City. They snap it back to Hanson. He goes off the left side. He's gonna be met by Lisp, but he's gonna carry Aaron about four yards, so four yards on the carry for Mr. Hansen. Already unofficially uh 17 carries on the night for Mr. Hanson. I've got him at 58 yards on the night, second down now and four, or excuse me, second down and six for Webster City. Is we're starting to see the wind pick up a little bit here at Webster City. There's an inside handoff to Hanson, and he is met immediately there by big number 50 for the Crusaders. That of course is Mr. Max, too, and Max sold Mr. Hansen to no gain on that. Yeah, that did not fool anybody on that play. And that's gonna bring a timeout from Webster City. I think we're gonna keep it right here. Again, if you're wondering about just joining us the Crusader touchdowns on the evening, the first one came just a minute seven into the ball game. It was a two-yard uh nap run after two plays earlier, an 80-yard uh Shrams fullback dive off the left side. They got the ball all the way down to the 10. Nap took it for eight yards and then closed it off with two more yards for the first touchdown of the game. Touchdown number two occurred with 304 to go in quarter number one. It was a 35-yard thing of beauty. Milky to Wickham. PAT was good, 14-0, and then in the second quarter with 9-10 to go, an 82-yard bomb for Milky to Wickham once again. Results in the 21-0 lead that we have currently with 133 to go here in quarter number two. Again, a big thanks to our second quarter premier sponsor is Keller Williams real estate agent Tammy Bertrand, as well as Liberty National Bank. There's another throw and uh way off target there, dropping back to throw with Staley and uh Simon didn't he had no choice unload that thing.
SPEAKER_05He that defense was breathing down hard on him.
SPEAKER_03I think Baker was putting the pressure on him that time on a little shoot there. Third or fourth down now and six for Webster City. Let's see what they decide to do here. In all likelihood, I would think they're gonna go for it. The ball spotted at the Crusader 37-yard line again, fourth down and six yards to go, a minute 28 to go here in the half, and uh once again I'm wrong as they uh bring on the punting unit as Torres sets up deep to punt. Let's see if he actually does, and he's gonna get the punt off. It's a pooch kick. Crusaders didn't have anybody back, and the ball's gonna bound into the end zone. So first and ten Crusaders here with a minute 22 to go here in quarter number two, and a chance to maybe tag on, tack on more points here. They lead 21-0 on your Security National Bank scoreboard. Big thanks to Myra Favor State Farm Agency, Lawler Fixers, the Bargain Center, Service Master, Sioux Land, Rouse Cove in the Hydman Law Firm, Soho Kitchen and Bar, and Tim and Dead Timmins. They join Keller Williams Real Estate Agent Tammy Bertrand and Liberty National Bank as your second quarter sponsors. First and ten Crusaders now from their own 20-yard line. Shotgun formation. Motion back is Moss. Low snap. Milky picks it up, throws it deep. He's got nap. Nearly intercepted, then nearly caught. It almost went the distance there. I don't know, Mike, was that ball even tipped?
SPEAKER_05I don't know if it got tipped or not. That looked like a wheel route there, and the defender came flying across and got his hand up, and I think that was just enough to distract uh Dylan from being able to make that catch. But if he makes it, he's gone.
SPEAKER_03It looked like it was gonna be gone either way.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, one way or the other, it's gonna be a touchdown.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the Webster City player cut in on it. It looked like he had a good beat on the ball, but uh incompletion, second down 10. Now Crusaders 116 to go in the half. Two receivers each side. Now they're gonna motion Mount Moss over to the left side. They give it right up the middle to Knapp, and Knapp's got a lot of space there as he cuts back and right down at the 45-yard line. 25 yards on the inside trap there by Knapp.
SPEAKER_07That's enough for a Crusader first down.
SPEAKER_03And suddenly the Crusaders uh got things going here with 70 seconds left here in the first half, all spotted at their own 45-yard line. Fresh set of downs. As Milky calls his count, drops back, plenty of time. He's gonna throw deep. He's got Wickham down there, and the ball's tipped away. Nice defensive play there by number three for Webster City. That's uh Kois Bertrand who uh went up. Uh otherwise, that was gonna be another big play for Webster City.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no. For the Crusaders. Another foot up, and I think we're watching Whitcomb run in for another touchdown.
SPEAKER_03We seem to have found ourselves in a very high traffic area all of a sudden. We've got people running all over us here. Uh so uh please excuse us if we get a little bit interrupted. Second down now and ten. Ball spotted at the Crusader 45-yard line, two receivers each way. Knapp is in the backfield, and now they're gonna motion Moss off to the right side. They're gonna give once again on the inside handoff. Knapp's gonna bust it quickly for nine yards. Unofficially, I've got uh Dillon with uh nine carries, 55 yards here, second down and one for the Crusaders. The clock ticks away 44 seconds to go. The Crusaders have just one timeout left. They're trying to get things set up here. Twin receivers each way, shotgun formation. Milky gets a snap, another low snap, throws it for first down completion. Moss with a breaks a couple tackles now. He's got an open space down the middle. He might go to touchdown. Five touchdown, what a play by Moss. No penalty flags down, 45 yards. He threw the ball about eight yards. Moss broke about four different tackles and off to the races. Yeah, he he made the catch and did the rest on his own. Jesse Moss, what a catch! Wow, 15 or 45 yards and the touchdown there. They've had Moss in motion here on most of that series, but with 23 seconds left here in the first half, a big touchdown for the Crusaders. Extra point now, Herbolt's on. Saran with the hold, kick is up, and the kick is good. 28-0 Crusaders here. Just 23 and a half seconds left here in the first half. Big play by the Crusaders there to get that touchdown. It's been a game of big plays for healing so far. We're gonna keep it right here. That's the third completion, the third long touchdown of the night, as Mike has said. Uh the first one came as a in by way of a 35-yarder to up to Wickham. The second one was 82 yards also to Wickham, and this last one here with 23 seconds to go in the half is uh completed to thank you to Mr. Moss. So Moss with that touchdown, 28-0 Crusaders here with 23 seconds to go here in the half. As the kickoff team goes, probably one of those situations where you're gonna see the ball probably squib kicked here and not give uh not give Webster City a chance for a big return. Herbolt's gonna tee it up at the 40. Again, it's homecoming here at Webster City, so I would expect maybe an extended home homecoming uh halftime here. Gonna give us a chance to thank our many sponsors here again. The Crusaders with a 28-0 lead here with just 23 seconds left in the first half. There's a high kick fielded at the 15-yard line by Webster City. They break a couple of tackles, and he's still going. Finally, he's gonna be brought down at the 30-yard line, 17 seconds to go here in the first half. And we've said this before, Mike, it's just not an offense in Webster City that's uh that handles being down a lot of points, and uh it's gonna be a difficult second half for them to find a way to get back into this ballgame.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're not gonna be able to do it running the ball, obviously down 28 to nothing. And uh they showed early that they can throw the you know, complete some passes, but they really struggled with that here the last uh quarter and a half.
SPEAKER_03So there's the direct snap. It's gonna go to Hanson. Ball was thought at the 30. He's gonna get good yardage there. Nearly breaks the second tackle before he's finally brought down by Wickcomb deep in the territory. 13 yards for that Hanson carry.
SPEAKER_07Brought down by Assembly.
SPEAKER_0319 carries, 71 yards for Mr. Hanson. But I believe that is going to be our last play of the half. No, there's hustling up to the line of scrimmage. They're gonna get one more off here, I believe, and they do. Dreck snap to Hanson as you hear the halftime buzzer go off, and Hanson's gonna get uh seven yards, but that's gonna end the half, and what a half it was for the Crusaders as they lead the Webster City Lynx 28-0 here at half. Once again, uh, when we come back at half, we're gonna have uh Mr. Tim Swadin, the executive director of Catholic Radio with a special guest. And uh after Tim's done with his guest, uh we'll come back here to Webster City and we'll give you some first half highlights and some stats. It's Crusader Football Tonight here on Catholic Radio. Once again, a big thanks to all our first half sponsors. When we'll come back, we have the Sioux City Musketeers halftime show. It is Crusader Football Tonight from Webster City. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_08Well, that sure was an exciting first half between the Crusaders and the Lynx. Right now, I'm going to discuss one of the other successful programs within the human family that has gone on this fall. The girls' tennis program has been incredibly successful this fall, and the coach is with me right now. Her name is Bella Isabel Ostapal, and she is from Omaha. She played some college tennis at North Central, and she now is one of the directors at first serve. Thank you for being with us today.
SPEAKER_21Thank you so much for having me.
SPEAKER_08You bet. You won almost all your events this year. Conference title, got some girls' listing. Did you foresee any of this at the beginning of the season?
SPEAKER_21You know, I I think that one of my main advices to the girls before we Go out on court to compete or even throughout the season was to let go of the result, let go of the outcome. And I think I try my best to follow my own advice. And so during tryouts, we recognized my assistant coach Jackie Kelly and I that our team was challenging each other in such positive ways. And even uh after our first match of the season, I realized that these girls are gonna go out there and compete. And um I don't think it really dawned on us until halfway through the season when we realized, man, we're still undefeated. Uh and that we've got something special going on here.
SPEAKER_08Well, I think success breeds success. Absolutely. We got some wins and I think that builds confidence. For sure. And I think that that really helps towards bringing that.
SPEAKER_21Absolutely.
SPEAKER_08Tennis teams usually have very large rosters. How do you go about giving individual attention to each player?
SPEAKER_21You know, that's a great question. We actually grew in our roster size. So last year we had 11. This girl we had six this year we had 16 girls out. And I think having the help of an assistant coach really like lets us go around during practice and can talk to each girl. We try our best to have as many like one-on-one meetings with the girls throughout the seasons as possible. Kind of check in with everybody at each practice or at least at each week. Um and I think something that helps uh kind of build our relationships with the girls is also like just summer hitting as well. So we're able to to work on stuff with the girls during the summer that maybe um they didn't know before, like they uh it's not like something that we work on during season. And I think that having just 16 girls with two coaches is is kind of honestly at this point the perfect number for us.
SPEAKER_08You know, one of the things that's happened over time is that some of these sports have become so specialized. In other words, it almost becomes a year-round thing. Is that true with tennis as well?
SPEAKER_21You know, I think the most successful tennis players are kind of either in the Touland area or in Iowa girls' tennis, their main priority is tennis. And I would say that if they're and I tell I tell our girls, you know, if you're at least practicing once a week, like we love multi- multi-sport athletes, it gives them a break on their body and it uh it helps with the burnout, right? Um but I think if they're at least practicing once a week, or if they're able to stay within the sport um throughout the year in that offseason, we see a lot of progress. Um and so like for example, our uh one of our girls, Bella Escabel, she was our number seven singles last year. This year she bumped up at the roster to our number two singles and even placed third at regionals.
SPEAKER_08So you can see the work she's gonna be.
SPEAKER_21We can see the progress in the offseason, and it definitely plays a a big contributor to how they play during the season and just their overall confidence on the court as well.
SPEAKER_08Tennis is an individual sport, obviously each match or doubles. Singles or doubles. Is it very hard to build a team culture when you're dealing with so much individuality?
SPEAKER_21You know, I I find that it's actually easier because there when we go through our our our lineup or our roster and try to develop um you know our match lineup where who's playing singles, who's playing doubles, and at what position. Um we go through challenge matches and there's no for me at least, there's no politics about it. Like if you beat this girl, you're gonna move up in the lineup, and if you lose this girl, you're gonna move down in the lineup. And we're gonna put you at where you fit the best or where you are going to deliver the strongest result for your team. And high school tennis and college tennis are really the only two times in a tennis player's career where they can be a part of a team. And I think that's uh something that we really focus on this season was win or lose. Like you are out there competing for Bishop Halen, and you you have a job and you have a duty, and if you go out there and you you play confidently and you try your best, that's what we want. And even if you know you're having a tough day at number six singles, maybe your number three singles is gonna pull through and get the win for us. So um I think that we were able to breed a positive environment for these girls just because we focused on the team. Anytime your ego or your pride got in the way, we just said, you know, push that out and just remember this is your opportunity to play for a team, and it's really special.
SPEAKER_08Perfect. I want to sort uh focus a little bit on your seniors. Obviously, you have four seniors this year. Obviously, that helps towards bringing the bonding within a team. So Maria Ernesti, Kate Kelly, Joy Visual Karma, Allen Sexton. Tell me how they led your team because they were seniors.
SPEAKER_21We did also have a fifth senior, Mia Munos, who played on our JV roster as well. Okay. And uh our seniors, so Maria Ernesti um and Kate Kelly have both played since their freshman year, and Maria Ernesti was my captain this year. And um Maria leads by example. She uh is always confident on the court, um, she works hard, she's very coachable, and uh also in the classroom a great student, um, a good role model for everybody, and I think that's what made her such a strong captain this year. Um and her and Kate Kelly played number one doubles this year together. Um and they've played doubles since uh together since freshman year and practiced in the offseason together. Um, but just uh their energy as a doubles team, and I think them qualifying for state last year as a doubles team, and they were the first Bishop Healing girls um since 1997 to qualify for individual state uh really inspired the team and inspired the girls. Um and then Joy Bishop Karma actually started last year as a junior. Um she picked up the racket over the summer, and she was able to be on our varsity lineup last year.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_21And uh she just has such a I mean, all of our seniors just have such a uh positive mindset and so uh just um can bring all the girls together, right? Like they they just they make it a team effort and they make everybody feel so special to be a part of this team, and it's so uh it they all do an amazing job. And and uh Madeline Sexton uh goes to work, is what I tell her. Like she'll come off the court, she's the first one off the court usually. She she just uh does her job and gets off the court and then goes and supports her girls, and she was actually undefeated in the regular season um at my number one four at my number four single spot. And it's just they they know their job and they know um the responsibility on the team and they just do it wholeheartedly.
SPEAKER_08Isabel, thank you so much for being with us this halftime. Good luck in the future, and uh again, thank you for being here.
SPEAKER_21Thank you so much.

SPEAKER_03And welcome back, everyone. You're listening to the Sioux City Musketeers halftime show here on 88.1 FM, KFHC KOI of Catholic Radio, where the Crusaders lead the Webster City Lynx 28 to nothing here at Homecoming in Webster City. Once again on your security banks scoreboard. It is 28-0 Crusaders. Once again, um kind of hedging on what to the Tim head of the half time there. Big uh congratulations goes down to Kate Kelly and Rim Erneste for qualifying for that state doubles meet that was held earlier this week. Um also want to congratulate our boys congratulate our boys' golf team. Um they fell a little bit short of making the state golf tournament, but what an outstanding season for the guys is uh they failed to qualify at Lamar's this week, but uh an outstanding crew of young men to work with and uh an outstanding crew coming back next year. So good things on the horizon for uh both the uh girls' tennis program and the boys' golf teams as they head into next fall, the fall of 2027. Uh once again here at Webster City, it is 28-0 Crusaders at half, and uh it's really been the big play for the Crusaders. Three long touchdown passes. In fact, the only three completions that uh Milky has had tonight have gone for 35, 45, and 82 yards. So the Crusaders here statistically, unofficially, of course, by the by running 138 yards on 15 carries, and through the air to 162 yards on three completions and three touchdowns. Um 300 total yards here unofficially for the Crusaders at half. For Webster City, kind of what you would expect to see. Uh they are very much a run-oriented team. They rushed the ball 22 times for or excuse me, 27 times for 81 yards, and through the air, they completed three of seven passes for 32 yards. So, unofficially, 113 yards of total offense for Webster City, and that pretty much spells uh the story um with this with the scoring and so forth again. Uh two long Wickcom touchdowns. Uh Moss with a great catch and run. Jesse Moss, a senior. Um Jesse doesn't catch it off, and when he does, he makes noise, and then uh a two-yard touchdown by Knapp early on, and uh Bill Knapp having his best half of the season. I've unofficially have got Dillon for uh eight carries and fifty-five yards, so it's good to see that running game get going. Of course, we also had the big early run by uh Bodie Schram to get things started. So Kim uh kind of what we would have expected, I think, coming into this game, knowing that the the record both these teams had and uh the kind of ball that both these teams play.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, absolutely. You know the first couple of series, though, they they moved changed things up on us. We're running the ball, and they're throwing the ball, and we settled into to the offense that we're used to running, and of course we watched them uh run that uh offense that they run, and now they're down 28 to nothing, and they're in an uncomfortable situation of uh having to throw the ball to to at least try to move down the field and get a touchdown, try to cut into this lead.
SPEAKER_03The Crusaders won the toss to start the game and elected to take the ball, so uh we're gonna see uh Webster City with the ball here to start uh your second half. We still got about five minutes of halftime here. The marching band is still on the field playing, and uh I have to compliment the Webster City crowd here tonight. A lot of times when your team's one and five, you may you know you may not see the the type of enthusiasm and positivity that you see tonight. It's it's been a great crowd to be a part of here, and uh we are literally right in the middle of the crowd.
SPEAKER_05It's uh we're in the middle of it, and it's an active crowd, but uh yeah, there are a lot of people here.
SPEAKER_03So compliments to them. It's uh it's they've been very welcoming here at Webster City once again at halftime. Crusaders 28 and the Lynx nothing. Um Crusaders will be back home next week. It'll be good to back stay in Sioux City next week as they'll entertain Humble. And then uh boy, it's hard to believe that the season uh close down the regular season in just two weeks as the Crusaders will entertain a very good Algona team, and that's a huge game tonight in uh between Algona and Sioux Center because it's really the the Crusaders, Sioux Center, and Algona fighting for two of the two the top two spots in that uh 3A District 1, and so uh things are gonna get very crucial. It's as we've said earlier, it really has become a must-win situation every game for the Crusaders, and they're certainly doing their part tonight of 28 to nothing. So we're gonna take it back to the studio and hear a couple more ads from our some of our great sponsors when we come back. We'll uh close shop here on the Sioux City Musketeers halftime show once again. The Crusaders 28 and the Lynx nothing. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Jimmy Johns, Van Vance Thompson, the Vision Professionals, J J and J Coins and Collectibles, Wilmus Gilabest Hardware in South Sioux City and South and Sioux City, St. Augustine Indian Mission, and Russantina Bertrand and RJ Tide Company. Again, Security National Bank scoreboard has the Crusaders up comfortably 28-0 here at half as both teams are back on the field. We're about uh a minute and a half from uh getting things going here, and now they're gonna jump the clock to three minutes. So uh again, uh a half that really uh was spearheaded by big passing plays by the Crusaders. Uh Milky with hasn't been really able to connect on some of the short throws, but he's been right on target tonight with his deep stuff and uh two long touchdown passes to uh Grant Whitcomb as well as one long one to uh to um Jesse Moss uh have accounted for three of the four Crusader touchdowns again. Uh uh Knapp, Dylan Knapp with a two-yard touchdown run on the first possession, uh counted for the uh fourth touchdown for the Crusaders here. So about two and a half minutes to go here before we get started in the second half. And uh what you'd like to see the Crusaders uh get a three and out and get that 35-point margin going and uh speed this game up. And as far as uh injuries go, uh we did see JJ Hope uh leave the game with uh with an injury early on. Uh haven't been able to see if he's back in action or not. Um JJ's battled the the injury issues all season. Uh hopefully nothing serious there. But uh Crusaders uh have kind of done made the road trip and taken care of business the way they should, Mike.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they've done exactly what they needed to do. They know the importance of this game and and every game the rest of the season, and I do see JJ out there taking some uh passes, so he he must be doing a little bit better. Not sure if we'll see him in the game with the 28-0 lead, but yeah, I'm with you. Let's get it to 35 plus and uh start that running clock.
SPEAKER_03And so far, knock on wood has been a pretty good experience being out here amongst the amongst the crowd. It seems to be a speedway for elementary school kids to run right by our our setup here, but uh all's good here, and again it's it's a nice homecoming crowd here at Webster City. Uh they've really packed it in tonight. And a nice crowd from made the trip uh up highway 20 to uh for the Crusaders to watch the ball game, and uh so far they've liked what they saw. So both teams now are gonna take it to their sidelines. We got time for one 30-second spot. When we come back, we got our third quarter kickoff. It's Crusader Football here on Catholic Radio.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And once again, welcome back, everyone. Uh great work.
SPEAKER_07Webster City will receive the kickoff from starting seconds.
SPEAKER_05Getting ready to kick off here. Uh Webster City is lined up out there. Healing's getting ready to take their spot on the field. And uh we're gonna get the third quarter going here. And like Bob said, we're gonna hope for a quick three and out and see if we can't get a touchdown and try to get a running clock going here.
SPEAKER_03Once again, it's always great work by Grace. Uh Grace back at the studio. It's always good to have Mike along with me tonight. Uh good first half for the Crusaders up 28-neth as we get ready to kick off quarter number three. Big thanks once again to our halftime sponsors as we get ready for second half action here from Webster City. Herbal tees the ball up at the 40-yard line, and he'll kick with the win. Tonight's third quarter brought to you by through the generosity of our premier third quarter sponsors, Folk Brothers and Prime Bank. Kick is deep and through the end zone. First and 10 from the 20s as Webster City faces a 28-0 deficit here as they're gonna go right to left on your radio dial. Really can't expect much different. Uh, it is a team that uh, regardless of the score, tends to stick to their old uh their own running philosophies here. It's a very tight formation, uh, a lot of deception in the backfield, a lot of reverses, um, multiple handoffs in the backfield. So far, the Crusaders do a nice job bottling things up.
SPEAKER_05Looks like, at least on defense, they're gonna rest JJ for the night. Here comes Hansen running hard.
SPEAKER_03Much like he started the game, Hansen with a nice run there. 15 yards. Uh he went off left side there, and uh tell you what, he is a workhorse already. I've got him down for uh that that was his uh 20 21st carry of the night. 13 yards on that carry, 91 yards on 21 carries. First and 10 for Webster City ball spotted at the 35 yards. Yard line. As they're going to line up, shotgun formation. Ball comes back. It's going to go direct hand off to Hanson. Hanson's going to go off the right side. This time the Crusader defense bottles it up. We got Finn Pack in on a play. We got Baker in on that play. As well as uh Noel and Mickey. They just absolutely stopped Hansen at the line of scrimmage. No gain on that. Second down and ten now for Webster City. We're early parts here of the third quarter. Again, our third quarter premier sponsors are Folk Brothers in Prime Bank. Ball spotted directly in the middle of the field. 35-yard line. Second down and 10. Tight formation. Everybody huddled in inside the hash marks. They're going to hand back. There's going to be a throw there by State Lee. Completes the ball or completes the catch. The pass, excuse me, is completed the number 15 for Webster City. That's uh Barkfried. And that's actually Bartfried's second catch of the night, but it's only going to count for one yard on that completion, third down and nine. And he's a load. He's a good-sized kid out there running that ball. So once again, third and long for Webster City as they run the play in with Staley. Staley puts a lot of miles on running over to the coach every time to get the play. Ball spotted left half white side of the field to the right side. Direct snap goes to Hanson. He's going to go to the short side. He's got room. He breaks a tackle there. He might go. He's got distance there. 30, 25, 20, and he's finally pulled down right at the 20-yard line by Baker. Great run there by Caleb Hansen as they're going to spot the ball at the 21-yard line.
SPEAKER_05Got a flag back here at the 30.
SPEAKER_0342 yards on that carry. I think we're going to get a block in the back around the near the end of the play that's going to lose some of that yardage, but a really nice play there by Caleb Hanson. And it looks like that's going to be a spot foul, so it's going to result in a first down. The ball's going to be spotted at the 40-yard line of the Crusaders. Really good strong run by Hansen there.
SPEAKER_07He went through about three or four Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Even Drug won a few yards as well. So once again, you know, something Mike, they've been able to do fairly frequently as to get into Crusader territory, but uh it's really once they get inside about the 30 that things have bogged down. First and 10 from the Crusader 40. Direct snap, Hansen, inside handoff coming back, and the Crusaders bottle that up again. The interior part of the Crusader line holds the reverse back to nothing. On that carry for the Crusaders was number three, or for the uh links was number three, Bertrand.
SPEAKER_078-0-1.
SPEAKER_03Second down now and nine. Crusader 39 yard line. 9-06 to go here. First possession of the second half. Webster City received the second half. Kickoff. They've moved the ball from their own 20. And now find themselves at the Crusader 39 yard line. Bunch formation, as we've seen all night. Dreck Snap goes back to Hanson. He fakes the handoff, goes off the right side. He's going to be corralled there. Nice open field tackle by the Crusaders. That was Dylan Knapp making that tackle. We'll give Hansen again a two there.
SPEAKER_19Hanson, the ball carrier.
SPEAKER_05And understandably, you got to figure every series here on out the rest of the night for Webster City. Is uh four down territory no matter where they're at.
SPEAKER_03Got to make room on my uh play sheet here. That's already 24 carries for Hansen. Got to add a column for him. Third down now and eight. One would guess given the score at 28-0. It's probably four-down territory for Webster City. Ball spot in the middle of the field. Bunch formation. They're going to direct snack back to Staley. Staley the left-hander throws it out in the flats. Broken up nicely by Wagbaugh. Really a nice throw and delivery to Aaron. But Wagbaugh at the last second. Prince just reached in and stripped the ball away. Fourth down now.
SPEAKER_07Fourth down for the lane.
SPEAKER_03And eight. They look like they're going to punt it. This surprises me. I would think given this field position that they might try and go for it here. But uh see Dylan Knapp go back deep here. Crusaders are going to leave their base defense on the field just in case there's some kind of trickery here. Torres stands near the 50-yard line. Snap is good. Kick is up in the air. High kick is going to be fair caught by Kilt by Knapp. No, he doesn't fair catch it. He decides to catch and run and gets the ball out near the 25-yard line. Now they're going to spot it back. Looks like they're going to spot it back to the 18-yard line. So first and 10 here for the Crusaders as they try and add to this 28-0 lead. 7.55 to go here in your third quarter. Big thanks to Catholic Charities, I'm on Communications, Barclay Asphalt, Modern Day Parish, Ari Scott, and Grucken Family Eye Care. They join Folk Brothers and Prime Bank. Once again, uh thank you for your patience here as Mike and I are both battling uh fall colds here, and uh unfortunately, periodically, some coughing does pop up for us. So uh we'll try and hold that as uh minimal as we can. Here come the Crusaders now. Looks like they're gonna pick the flags up. It's just a bench warning. Must have been two receivers wide each side. Now there's motion. There's gonna be a speed sweep there given to uh Prince Wagbaugh. He's got open field 40, 50. He's cutting cross field, and he gets finally brought down. Really nice tackle by Ahrons there, but uh ball spotted from the 18-yard line 32 plus uh 32 plus 7 39 yards on that carry by Prince Wagbaugh on that speed sweep. We've been talking, we kind of fun to see him and Wickham with the speed they have get out in the open field.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it is, and that's uh another big play by the Crusaders. They've they've had them uh in the air, and now they've had a couple more on the ground.
SPEAKER_0339 yards on that carry. That's already the uh sixth different Crusader that's carried the ball tonight. And we've got uh timeout on the field. I'm not sure we've got an injury back here. Uh I can't tell everybody's standing up, nobody I think number number three for Webster City. Uh Bertrand. Coys Bertrand uh got the win knocked out of him. He's up and I think doing okay here. So both teams are back on the field. Crusaders now have pushed the ball from their own 18 to the Webster City 43-yard line in just one play there. So great way to start the drive here. First and 10 Crusaders, seven and a half to go here, quarter number three. Crusaders break huddle, three receivers to the left. Prince Wagbaugh's got solo coverage here wide to the right. Now they're gonna run a shift here. It's good to see JJ Hope back in the backfield. They give to JJ on a sweep to the left side. He cuts back to the right, and uh he's gonna be brought down. Let's give him uh five yards on that carry. Good first down production there by JJ Hope. Good cutback out there to pick up those extra yards. Second down and uh long five, short six here for the Crusaders ball spot at the left hash mark, wide side of the field to the right. We're gonna see uh three receivers come out to the right side, and boy, that's a dangerous trio there in Wickham Wagba and JJ Hope. Shotgun formation. They're gonna give the ball to Knapp on an inside carry. Knapp with a nice cutback, and he gets good yardage there. Looking to give him uh nine yards on that carry there. Really nice speedy trap inside trap play by Knapp. Uh 10 carries, 64 yards unofficially, uh, 6.4 yards a carry. We'll take that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we will take that. Not quite as good an average as uh Bodie Schran, but we'll take it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Bodie's got a big number there. Six and a half to go here, third quarter, first and ten, first set of downs, ball spotted at the 29-yard line of Webster City. They put Matumbo in motion inside trap. No, Milky's gonna keep it. He goes right up the middle, he's gonna go untouched, 30 yards. Absolutely beautiful play. They all suckered on the play fake to nap, and Eli Milkey just simply took it right up the middle, untouched, unscathed, 30 yards, touchdown Crusaders.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that was a great, great ball fake there, and uh he held it in the belly as long as he could, and then pulled it out, and nothing but open field after that.
SPEAKER_03Officially 30 yards on that. Here's the all-important extra point. That 35th point would put us into a running clock situation. And when you're two and a half hours away from home, that's not a bad thing. Nope, it is not. Snap is good, place is good, kick is good. 35-0 Crusaders, 6-11 to go here in quarter number three. Again, a big thanks to Folk Brothers, Prime Bank, Catholic Charities. I'm on Communication, Bartley Aspalt, Modern Day Parish, R. E. Scott, and Gruckin Family ICare. Halfway through quarter number three, it is the Crusaders 35, Webster City Nothing. We'll be back after this 30-second spot.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03Thanks so much, Grace. We're back here at Webster City. We're halfway through quarter number three. The Crusaders up 35-0 as they get ready to tee it off here. After the 30-yard milky touchdown run, ball is going to be fielded near the three-yard line for Webster City. They're going to bring it right up the middle. They broke a couple tackles, and finally they're going to be brought down by a swarm of Crusaders near the 24-yard line. So Webster City will start their second drive of the half. Trailing 35 to nothing. We are in uh per Iowa high school football rules. Uh, when you get uh at that 35-point margin, it is a running clock, so things tend to happen pretty quickly here as you go through the remainder of the ball game. Again, nice outing for the Crusaders. Uh, they've really lived off the big play tonight. Four different touchdowns that went 30 yards plus tonight have keyed this Crusader uh lead at 35 to nothing. And that defense the last two weeks has just been phenomenal. First and 10. Tight formation. Dreck snap, they're gonna throw the ball, long throw. They got a wide open receiver near midfield, and he brings it down, and it's gonna be knocked out. Wickham with a nice strip there. It was good to see uh Koitz Bertram back on the field after going off hurt a little while ago, but it looked like he had that catch near midfield, but at the last second, uh Wickham reached in and stripped the ball away. Incompletion, second down and ten. And it's plays like that with the running clock that take uh a lot of time off the clock. By the time you get the ball back and put in play, it's uh it's a real time eater. Yeah, it was. That was uh that was almost a great catch. Second down ten now. And on that play, as it so often happens, Hansen got the direct handoff, gave it back to Staley, and now Bertrand's gonna go on a wide sweep there, breaks a couple tackles, lunges forward, and he's gonna get first down yardage. Give Coit Bertrand 10 yards on that carry.
SPEAKER_06Nice run there for JNC Bell on the first time.
SPEAKER_03It's a first down Webster City, the links here. 413 to go. Security National Bank scoreboard has the Crusaders up 35 to nothing. Again, we're back on the air next week as the as Humboldt makes the long journey to Memorial Field as the Crusaders return home. And uh again, another must-win situation if the Crusaders as the Crusaders uh try and march toward a playoff berth. There's an inside handoff once again to Bertrand. Uh Bertran's only gonna get one yard on that carry.
SPEAKER_05In case there's anyone at home that has decided just to listen to you and I and not watch the Iowa game, they're up 13 to nothing after one quarter.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Roll that roll that uh backup quarterback in there. Yeah, good things happen. Again, a big night for uh Iowa football. Iowa State uh at the BYU tonight, and uh Hawkeye is on the on the left coast uh taking on Washington. Second down now and nine for Webster City ball spot at the 37-yard line. Once again, bunch formation, direct snap, goes to Hanson. No, this time it's Bertran. He cuts up the middle, he breaks a tackle or two, he might go 40, 35. He's finally brought down. Great job there by the Crusader defensive backfield, but an even better job by Koyce Burfeld as uh or Bertran, excuse me, as he gets 14. Uh4 plus 15, 29 yards on that carry. Nope. Still a lot of fight in these uh in these links players.
SPEAKER_05Got an injured crusader out there on the field. Can't really see the numbers, so don't want to speculate.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna take it back to studio here while they uh attend to the injured crusader. When we come back, we'll have an update on him. But uh as we stand now, 257 to go here in the third quarter. It is the Crusaders 35, the Lynx nothing. We'll be right back after this 30-second spot.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03First and 10. Lynx clock continues to run. 250 to go here in their quarter number three. First and 10, the first set of downs at the Crusader 35-yard line, tight formation. Grek snap goes back to Hanson. He's gonna come off the left side. He's got a wall, they walled it off good, and he's gonna get five, six yards there, and he's still alive. No whistle yet. Now uh it's gonna be interesting to see where they mark it. Uh they're getting a lot of help from the uh Webster City faithful here. The spot here is gonna be interesting because they had him walled off about the 32-yard line, then he broke a tackle and weaved his way back and gave up five yards on it. In fact, it's gonna end up as a loss of one after what appeared to be like a five-yard gain. So interesting. Uh and I think actually that was probably the right call on that, although the Webster City faithful aren't buying into that. Yeah, because he was his forward progress was never really stopped. Here's uh Bertrand with the reverse, and boy, he's got nothing there. That's gonna be a loss of three there. Uh Crusaders are starting to really hone in on some of this reverse action, and uh just has not been successful here. They've had pretty good luck with the with the straight sweeps, but uh the reverse action, the Crusaders have have done a really nice job of holding their gaps and staying where they need to be. Loss of four by Bertram there. It's gonna bring out now a third down and fifteen for Webster City. 115 to go here in the quarter.
SPEAKER_05And you've got to figure this is four-down territory, but we thought that the last time and they punted, so we'll have to see.
SPEAKER_03Ball spotted left hash mark. Drex nap goes back to Staley. He drops back, he's got nap all over him, finally breaks the tackle there and is thrown out of bounds. Give the sack to number six for the Crusaders. That's Bodie Schram. And that's a big loss. That's gonna be a loss of nearly 15 yards by Staley. And those are statistics busters there. Fourth down and uh an eternity right here. It's gonna be fourth down and 30 for Webster City here as they're bring their punt team on. 25 seconds to go here in the quarter, 12 seconds left on the play clock. Torres back to punt for the Crusaders. It's Dylan Knapp sits back at his own 16-yard line. Torres gets the snap, gets the kickoff. Another high boomer. This kid's a nice kicker. Knapp with a fair catch at the 15, and that in all likelihood is we got a nap.
SPEAKER_07There's a flag on the play.
SPEAKER_03We got a penalty flag on the play, and I we might have a rough in the kicker. Now remember, it was fourth and thirty. Holding against healing. So they're gonna take uh penalty, we'll make which will make it fourth and fifteen now. And uh repunt it. I thought they kind of handled that punt situation pretty well. Trying to figure out where exactly to mark the ball here. Gonna end up marking it at the Crusader 45-yard line. Again, the first down marker sits at the Crusader 25. So fourth down and 20. The clock runs, and that is gonna end our third quarter. Big thanks once again to our third quarter sponsors tonight. They have been our prime uh folk brothers and prime bank, along with Catholic Charities. I'm on Communications, Barkley Asphalt, Modern Day Parish, R. E. Scott, and Greken Family ICare on your Security National Bank scoreboard. After three stanzas, it is the Crusaders 35. And the links from Webster City, nothing. We'll be right back after this 30-second spot.

SPEAKER_00You're listening to FM 88.1, KFHC, Conco Sioux City, and KOIA, Storm Lake, Siouxland Catholic Radio.
SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And welcome back, everyone. We're starting fourth quarter action tonight. Our fourth quarter is brought to you by our premier sponsor, Central Bank, along with Meyer Brothers, Funeral Home, Cybercloak Tech LLC, Empirical Foods, Greendale Pharmacy, Briar Cliff University Catholic Connection Scholarships, Dunes, Dental for Kids, Mike Jeweler, and Greg and Christy Yoakum on the punt to start the fourth quarter. Fair caught at the 20 at the 14-yard line. Crusaders will start the fourth quarter with the ball and a running clock here and a 35 to nothing lead. Big thanks to all of you who have tuned in tonight. It's uh been a night that's pretty much been all Crusaders, Mike.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it has. A lot of probably a lot of what we expected uh the way this game would go uh based on the records and and what uh what Webster City has done against uh the same competition that Healens faced.
SPEAKER_03Shotgun formation, wide receivers everywhere. For the Crusaders. Two backs in with Milky. Now they got motion. They're going to go with a wide sweep to the left side. Wickham gets it. Nice run. Gonna get first down yardage up to the 22-yard lines. Give Wickham seven yards on that carry. And again, one of those wrinkles that we haven't seen a lot of this season, but we're gonna see more of it the rest of the way out, I believe. Seven yards on that, two carries, 15 yards for Wickham. Of course, he's been the beneficiary of two big long touchdown passes, one of uh 35 yards, one of 82. So he has certainly left his imprint on the game. Second down and two now. Shotgun formation, two backs, motion left, right to left. They're gonna give on the inside handoff there, and this time Moss, Jesse Moss has taken down great defensive play there by number three, Kois Bertran of Webster City. No gain on the on the carry there for Moss. And it's gonna bring up a third down now and two for the Crusaders. Clock continues to run. Ten minutes left in your ballgame. Again, we are in a running clock situation here for Iowa Rules. Crusaders are gonna send three receivers wide to the right. Motion now with Wagbaugh. They're gonna hand it off to Wagbaugh, and he is knocked down for a big loss there. Tried to get the numbers game to the wide side of the field, and a great defensive play there by their outstanding running back, Caleb Hansen. Hit throws him for an eight-yard loss. So Prince Wagba. That was a really slow developing play there. Yeah. Just gives you something on on the film for the for your next teams to look at you know, plays like that. So punt formation here. Herbolt's gonna kick it from near his own end zone. Um the deep back for Webster City is gonna stand inside Crusader territory near midfield. Herbolt gets it off, takes a good Crusader bounce, and finally is gonna be spotted down near the uh 43-yard line. So first and ten, Webster City here, as uh Webster City offense comes onto the field in the Crusader defense. Uh, once again, Webster City with great starting position here as they'll start at the Crusader 43-yard line.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they just haven't been able to take advantage of uh good starting field position. Heel has been able to uh shut them down and keep them from taking advantage of that.
SPEAKER_03So Staley, Alex Staley, the left-handed uh we'll call him a quarterback, although he lines up all over the place. 170-pound uh senior brings the play in from the sideline. Tight formation. Once again, Webster City direct snap. This time the snap's gonna go back to Hanson, I believe. It is, and he's gonna be brought down there by Mickey. Once again, Nolan Mickey's having a nice night for the Crusaders, as has most of those uh interior linemen. No gain on first down there for Hansen. As he is now at carry number 26 for 113 yards unofficially tonight. He is a workhorse. That's a young man that probably sleeps pretty good at night. He gets a lot of carries. I would imagine he sleeps well and probably wakes up a little bit sore. Second down and ten now. Ball spotted at the Crusader 43-yard line, tight formation, direct snap, Hansen. He's gonna give on the inside reverse to Bertram, and Bertram's gonna get one on that carry. It's gonna bring up a third down and nine.
SPEAKER_07Time to think the ball carries by Knapp.
SPEAKER_03Once again, Del Knapp with the tackle there. 7.15 to go here in your ball game. Again, it's a really nice crowd, it's turned out tonight for homecoming here at Webster City. Reminder that we will be back at home, the friendly confines of Memorial Field next Friday as the Crusaders are going to entertain Humboldt. Third down now, nine for Webster City. Dreck Snap goes back to Staley, the left hander drops back, throws it into coverage, and almost picked off by Prince Wagbaugh. Prince Prince is kind of beating himself up there. He was the only one who had a really good chance to make the catch there. It's gonna bring up a fourth down and nine. We'll see what uh Webster City does here with 630 to go in your ball game. Looks like they're gonna leave the offense out there on this one. And they are, in fact, gonna leave the offense out here. And why not? 42-yard line, fourth down and nine. Formation really hasn't changed. They keep that bunch formation, four foot four players in the backfield. Direct snack to Staley. He's got heavy pressure. Finn Peck was all over him. Now a host of Crusaders fall over him, and that man again, Bodie Schram with the big loss all the way back from their 42 to the Crusader. Excuse me, from the Crusader 42 to the Webster City 42-yard line. A huge 17-yard loss. There, and Bodie Schram's been the beneficiary of a couple of those sacks. First and 10 Crusaders. Bodie has been busy. Crusaders go under center. And uh they've uh got Saron Bridges into the ball game now. I formation. So they're gonna uh try and ice this game in with some substitutes into the ball game. We'll try and get those numbers for you. Moss lined up that time at the fullback. I think you're gonna see uh Lowry had that carry. Okay, Riley Lowry with a loss of two on that carry. Good to see Riley getting back in action. He had several carries last week. Crusaders in no rush here. They're gonna use the play clock as much as possible. Moss is gonna line up in the fullback spot. Lowry in the eye back with him. We've got uh also on the field, Tommy Carroll lines up in a slot position for the Crusaders. Bridges hands back to Lowry, and he's met by a host of uh links, led by number uh 23, Edwin Ramos Nelasco. So Nelasco with a sack there, and Riley's kind of headed the wrong direction here. Losses of two and two on the first carries of the game brings up a third and fourteen with just four minutes left here in your ball game. Crusaders up 35-0 on your Security National Bank scoreboard. Reminder after the game, we'll get a brief chat with uh Coach John LaFleur before we close shop here. Uh big thanks to all of you who've tuned in tonight. Third and 14, Crusaders shotgun formation, bridge is gonna drop back, swings it out to the right flats. Lowry's got room, he gets to the 40, cuts back 35, 33, almost gets first down territory here, or first down yardage, giving him 13 yards on comp on the completion. And that's gonna leave the Crusader offense out there, I believe.
SPEAKER_07Fourth and two.
SPEAKER_03As Bridges with a nice throw there, had heavy pressure, kicked it off to Lowry. Lowry gets 13 of the 15 back, fourth down and two now. Ball spotted at the Webster City 34-yard line. 309 to go in your ballgame. Crusaders up 35-0. Eye formation. Lowry at the top of the eye. Moss lines up at the fullback spot. Sarron Bridges calls his count, puts his man in motion. That's Carroll who goes in motion. Bootleg play, and he is hammered. Saran Miss simply got hammered by uh number eight Grant Aaron's uh loss of 12 on that for Saran. Yeah, Aaron just came off that edge and no one touched him. Yeah, so the Crusaders are stopped on fourth and short. Good to see uh good to see some of these kids getting some some action in there. Probably the last offensive possession of the night here for Webster City as they'll take over at the Crusader or at their own 44-yard line. Tight formation. Direct snap goes back. A little spin action. The Crusader defense is having nothing of it there as Bertrand took the direct snap and lost a couple of yards. Second down now and 12 for Webster City.
SPEAKER_05Well, this coaching staff's got to be pleased with this performance tonight and uh coming on the heels of last week's defensive performance.
SPEAKER_03Well, this is uh two consecutive weeks of shutout ball. Nothing makes a head coach happier in seeing uh the defense give up the goose eggs there. Second down here, there's spin action, balls handed back to number four for Webster City. That's uh Simon, and Simon's gonna lose a couple there. Nice job there by the Crusader defense.
SPEAKER_05Coming up on a minute to play in the game.
SPEAKER_03Remember to uh stay with us uh for our post-game show as well as comments from Coach LaFleur. Then once again, it's been great having you with us tonight. Uh look forward to uh next week again when Humboldt comes to Bishop Healing, and there's a big sack there, and uh that's a guy we've seen make a lot of sacks this year. Max Asoff throws the Hanson down for a five-yard loss. And my guess is that uh may be the last play of the game.
SPEAKER_05They're gonna have to snap it one more time. There's about a second difference between the play cock play clock and the game clock.
SPEAKER_03Twenty-seven carries, 108 yards for Mr. Hansen tonight. Uh he has been a busy one. Big thanks once again to our fourth quarter sponsors, Central Bank, Meyer Brother Funeral Home, Cyberclub Tech, LLC, Empirical Foods, Greenville Pharmacy, Broadcliffe University, Catholic Connection Scholarship, Dunes Dental for Kids, Family Dental for Kids, Mike Jeweler and Greg and Christy Yoakum, as uh they run the clock all the way down to the three-second mark and uh take a timeout. As uh what we have left is it'll be your final play of the game. And uh kudos to this Webster City team, uh Mike. They came out they came out and fought hard. And tell you what, the the skill set of the Crusaders, especially around the perimeter, is just a hard matchup.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's been a hard matchup for them. Uh you know, they and Webster City's played hard the entire game, and we've talked about their crowd. I mean, it just now the crowd is starting to leave. I mean, they've stuck with them uh for quite a long time tonight based on the score and the running clock.
SPEAKER_03Again, uh just a reminder the Crusaders will finish the season weeks eight and nine, both at uh the friendly confines of Memorial Field. Uh they'll entertain Humboldt next week, and then uh that final week, week nine, they'll welcome in a very good Algona team. So here's your last play of the game. Once again, Webster City makes a snap. They're gonna roll to the right, and uh running back's gonna be brought down, and that's how the night's gonna finish. As getting that carry was Hansen. Hansen gets a couple yards, but in the end, it's too much Crusaders as the Crusaders defeat Webster City 35 to nothing from here at uh Webster City. Great uh great evening for the Crusaders as both teams work their way across the field to congratulate each other. We're gonna take it back to the studio to Grace and hear from some of our sponsors. When we come back, we'll have our post-game show along with Coach John LaFleur once again on the Security National Bank scoreboard, the Crusaders 35 in Webster City Nothing. Big thanks to all of you who've tuned in tonight. As always, please stay tuned for our post-game show. We'll be right back.

SPEAKER_11And now back to Crusader Sports on Catholic Radio 88.1, the voice of the Crusaders.
SPEAKER_03And welcome back, everyone, to tonight's postgame show here on Catholic Radio, brought to you by our premier post-game sponsors, the Knights of Columbus Agent Neil Pfeiffer and Tim and Lisa Swedean. Good night to be a crusader as the Crusaders defeat Webster City 35 to nothing. In addition to our post-game sponsors Neil Neil Pfeiffer and Tim and Lisa Swedin, our other post-game sponsors include Sue Body Shop, Culligan, Sioux City Sprinkler, Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, Queen of Peace Trinity Heights, New Crib Inspection, and Sunny Brook Dennell, our Security National Bank scoreboard has the Crusaders again moving to four and three on the season with a 35-to-nothing victory. Well, Mike, you know, we've made mention of this in the fourth quarter. Game didn't go, the game kind of went as maybe you would have expected it given the records and the performances this past season. But boy, I tell you what, back-to-back shutouts, and I don't care what the competition is, that's a big uh that's a big plus for this Crusader team as they head down to the final stretches of the season.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, if you can uh if you can get back-to-back shutouts, uh, like you said, it doesn't matter what the the record is or the talent level of the other team. You've you've done a great job. And uh last week, you know, at the week before, uh the defense couldn't get anybody stopped. Last week, they were able to uh shut out MOC, able to get that shutout tonight. And uh, you know, now they go get ready for next week and and you know see if they can get shutout number three.
SPEAKER_03And really with that loss a couple weeks ago to Sioux Center, they really you put a premium on the Crusaders to to basically have to win out. And uh so far uh that's exactly what they've done in these first two outings since that Sioux Center loss with a couple of nice shutout victories on the road at MOC Floyd Valley as well as here at Webster City. And again, final shot and one more shout-out. Uh great crowd here at MOC. They they packed it in tonight for homecoming, uh, really positive group of people. Uh had several of them come up and talk to us here in our uh in our spot. Uh it's really been a pleasure to be up here, and we thank the fine administration here at Suz at uh Webster City for allowing us the opportunity to to call these games as always. But uh it was a very dominating victory for the Crusaders, and the big play was a story of the night. Uh four touchdown plays of over 30 yards, uh two by Wickcom through the air, uh, one by Jesse Moss, and then uh a big 30-yard touchdown run by Milky on a quarterback keeper up the middle. The fifth touchdown came by way of a two-yard run by uh Dylan Knappwood. Another nice job running the ball here as uh Coach LaFleur makes his way up the up the stands here, joins our joins our outdoor perch. We'll we'll see if we can get a smile out of it. Yeah, has to sign a few autographs on the way up, as always. But uh he's a pop, he's a popular guy. John, first of all, congratulations. Nice win. And you know, we were talking earlier, you know, you kind of put you put the bullseye on your back two weeks ago with the Sioux Center loss. It you can't say it's an absolute must must-win each night, but it it kind of is.
SPEAKER_04It kind of is, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh back-to-back shutouts on the road, you've got to be really pleased, especially with your defense.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, defense is playing really well. Um but we need to do better. We gave up some big plays. We didn't get adjusted like we needed to in a few plus few spots. But it was nice to see a running game get going tonight with some big runs, which we haven't had all year. So uh overall, pretty happy.
SPEAKER_03Nice play design on that opening play. I mean, this you caught them off guard and uh a big one there to get the running game going, and uh really the the the mantra for the night was the big play. Uh several several big completions, nice thirty yard touchdown run by Milkey. But yeah, it was good to see the running game going. A lot of different guys touched the ball tonight, too. Uh several speed sweeps with your with Wickham and Wig Wagbaugh. It's good to see those added to the arsenal.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, it was it was better for sure. Uh West Mercedes is a young team, you know, and they and they're going through some growing pains, and that that happens. So uh when you have those opportunities, you gotta take advantage of them. And I think our guys did a good job tonight.
SPEAKER_03Well with the deception they have in the backfield, it it's never easy when you play these guys because you're never quite sure who has the ball. And you know, kudos to the handsome kid. My God, he takes a he takes a pounding every night.
SPEAKER_04He's a tough kid. He's uh he's our he's their workhorse and he's and but you know, they do a nice job. I hate preparing for these guys, to be perfectly honest with you, because it's just uh it's just so not out of the ordinary, you know. And but uh I thought our kids did a pretty good job. It's tough. You know, they go unbalanced and double unbalanced, and you know, heck there's they got 30 guys on one side of the ball and you know one dude on the other. It's it's uh it's tough. But uh, you know, that's that's our job is to make sure we're lined up where we need to be.
SPEAKER_03Kids' comments on playing on the grass field, it's a little different for them.
SPEAKER_04We walked out here and I think Grant Wickham said, Coach, how did you ever play on this stuff? Is this is this even legal? I said this is what football is supposed to be all about. And this this is a beautiful field, really. It's uh they uh they uh before the game, Coach Brim said that they don't let anybody play on this, they don't even practice on this thing. This is just for games only. And it's it's really beautiful.
SPEAKER_03I notice they have a really nice practice field over adjacent to it here, and you're sitting at the edge of a corner. This is this is good small town football.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely. This is what uh you know little Iowa football is supposed to be all about. So it was it was good and it was it was good to get a win. Uh, you know, and and we got you know, we we're we're we're trying to go, you know, we got a win each week. And uh obviously we know we need to win two games to get to the playoffs where we need to be, but we gotta just worry about Humboldt.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think there's just been some positive strides. Once again, your your big boys up front, uh I think really did and and you can see their uh physicality kind of took over in the latter parts of the game. Uh they had a really difficult time getting anything going on.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think uh watching Max Asoff play, he's you know, he's he's an undersized kid, but that he's tough. Just straight tough. And and uh I hope that he gets an opportunity to play college football somewhere because he he's good in it. He's gonna be a hell of a player. And uh and Nolan Mickey and and Trent Baker and you know Finn Peck, and you can go down the line, I think defensively he played really, really well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I would agree. Well, back-to-back shutouts. That's uh that's coaches coaches like that action.
SPEAKER_04We'll take it, we'll take it. Now we need to get another one next week. So I'm really glad that we're gonna be home for the next two weeks.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Well, a long trip home. We're gonna let you go here. But congrats, Coach, and uh go Hawkeyes tonight. I think they got a good start going up. That's what that's what I heard.
SPEAKER_04I heard last I heard we were up six-nothing. We need to score touchdowns instead of fields.
SPEAKER_03We'll let you tune into that. But uh that's Coach John LeFleur, a big win for the Crusaders. So they move over 500 to 4-3 and uh humble next week, and uh That's right.
SPEAKER_04Let's keep on that same on that right side of the 500, and uh uh yeah, it'll be great. Uh appreciate Catholic Radio like always.
SPEAKER_03All right, thanks. That's Coach John LeFleur. That's always it's great to be a Crusader, a nice win tonight here.
