Ever feel like you know what you “should” be doing in business… but you still can’t make yourself do it?

In this episode of Networking by Design, Dr. Suzy McCleary unpacks why so many people in social selling burn out trying to force strategies that don’t actually fit who they are.

You’ll discover:

  •  Why your nervous system resists certain sales tactics
  •  The real reason some people naturally attract customers while others feel pushy
  •  How congruence builds trust faster than scripts ever will
  •  Why different Human Design types communicate and lead differently
  •  The shift that makes follow-ups, content, and leadership feel natural again

If you’ve ever felt exhausted trying to “do business the right way” while secretly feeling fake doing it… this episode will completely change how you view leadership, attraction, and success in network marketing.

If effort alone created success, you’d already have it.  The shift happens when you understand how you are built to lead.

Hello and welcome back to Networking by Design. I'm Susie McCleary. And before we begin, here's the truth. I'm here to help you become the kind of person people naturally buy from. Because two people can say the exact same thing and get two completely different results. The difference is the signal behind the words. I've spent years in social selling wondering why, if I was capable and committed, why I still couldn't make myself do what everyone else was doing, said worked. But I wasn't rebelling, I was avoiding. I would open the scripts and close the laptop. I would plan to follow up and suddenly find something else to do. I'd promise myself I'd be more consistent tomorrow. And then tomorrow would come and I still couldn't press send. And for that, I really judged myself hard. I thought I lacked discipline. I thought my mindset needed work. I wondered if maybe I just wasn't built for this industry. But here's what I understand now. My body wasn't sabotaging me, it was protecting me because every action I was about to take felt like forcing or fake. And when those are the options, your nervous system hits the brakes. Not laziness, intelligence. So over the past few episodes, we've built the pathway out of that. We've shared the noise of hustle. We've stopped letting pressure drive decisions, and we began listening to our authority. We allowed ourselves to embody the role we're naturally designed to play. And now we've arrived at the final step. The ones that separate the busy from the paid and the hustlers from the leaders. And that is leading through congruence. So congruence is when your energy, your words, and your actions all tell the same story. Not performance, not trying to sound confident while secretly hoping, not posting brave things while feeling small, just internal agreement. And here's what most people miss Customers and builders don't join words, they join certainty. Their nervous system is constantly asking, does this person believe themselves? And if the answer is yes, they relax, and relaxed people make decisions. So let me show you what happens when I accidentally found congruence. Because I couldn't make myself chase people anymore. Cold messaging felt wrong. Pressure tactics felt awful. Fake urgency felt like acting. So instead of selling, I started teaching. I explained how the product worked. I shared my clinical understanding. I answered questions in detail. I focused on value before the transaction. And my business changed. People trusted me faster. They came back. They sent others. I had energy again. And at the time I thought I'd simply found a nicer sales style. But I later learned that I was a 5-1 profile. And that is about deep research and providing practical solutions. So of course, education made people feel safe. Of course, clarity created authority. My nervous system finally matched what I was doing. I wasn't pushing. I was aligned. I became congruent and congruency attracts. This is leadership in social selling. Not louder, cleaner. So how does this help you? Because your congruence will look very different to mine. But the principle is universal. When your action fits how you build, energy returns. And when energy returns, magnetism follows. So if you're a generator or manifesting generator, you attract through aliveness. When you speak from genuine excitement, people feel vitality. When you push yourself from obligation, they feel heaviness. Same opportunity, different signal. So wait for what lights you up, then move fast. If you're a projector, your power is in recognition. When you try to prove, people resist. When they invite, they listen. Place yourself where your insight can be seen. Let the invitations open the door. Whereas if you're a manifester, you lead through initiation. When you dilute yourself to keep peace, your attraction weakens. When you inform and move, people who resonate gather around. So clarity is kindness. If you're a reflector, your gift is perspective. Give yourself time to feel. When you speak from clarity, your words carry rare authority. So no one here needs better tactics. They just need internal agreement because agreement is what builds trust. Here's what shifts when you lead from congruence. Follow-ups stop feeling awkward. Content becomes easier to create. Recruitment feels mutual instead of persuasive. Why? Because people no longer evaluate whether you believe yourself. They can feel that you do. Alignment shortens your sales cycles because certainty travels faster. So imagine finishing your day proud of how you showed up. Not because you forced yourself to be brave, because you were honest. Imagine attracting customers and builders who already like how you operate, who don't need convincing, who feel relieved when they find you. That's what congruent leadership makes possible. So here's your practice this week. Before you send that message, before you post, before you follow up, pause. Ask yourself, am I moving from pressure or from internal agreement? If it's pressure, wait. If it's congruence, go all in. Because congruent action compounds. Forced action burns you out. But here's the truth. Congruence is not a one-time breakthrough. It's a way of moving, a way of deciding, a way of communicating, a way of building trust. So today you've seen what leadership looks like when your nervous system and your strategy finally agree. You've seen how attraction becomes easier when you stop forcing and start matching yourself. But awareness is only the beginning because insight changes a moment, practice changes a life. So in our next episode, The Leader's Daily Practice, we make this operational. We turn alignment into something you can return to every morning, every conversation, and every decision. Not occasionally, reliably, until congruence becomes your normal. If you haven't already downloaded your million dollar compass, the velocity report, you'll find the link in the show notes. And so inside you'll see exactly how you're designed to move, decide, and lead in a way that people trust immediately. I'll see you in the next episode.
