Hello and welcome to Rhythm and Purpose, the podcast where we two high school graduates navigate the world in an alternative way. I'm Melody, an inspiring Tollywood actress, and I'm Ori, song artist and visionary. Let's get into it. In order to really maximize our lives and the work we're doing, we had to completely fix our workflow. Exactly. In the last episode, we explored our name changes, but in the process of forming that podcast, we recognized that scripts, while they may seem uncool to some, are actually one of the strongest aspects of podcasting. So today we're exploring the realities of scripting and mastering our schedule in general to stop what we call winging it. We had to take a real hard look into why our early episodes were getting delayed. Right, while we wanted a fully authentic podcast that explained how we felt about the past in real time, we learned that even our favorite podcasters and influencers script their content. It feels authentic to the audience, but they balance that cohesiveness and put together a structure while keeping a truth perspective. The same goes with every movie we love. Without a script, the story and the timeline wouldn't make sense, and there will be a lot of unnecessary scenes that don't add to the story at all. We looked at a few podcasts and radio clips and found someone like Charlemagne the God scripts as Donkey of the Day. Even the pros who look like they're just rifting are often working off detailed bullet points to keep them from spiraling into a rant. So this episode and the ones down the line will be structured. They'll be still written in our authentic voices, but we realized that we needed that map to keep us on track and to keep us from ranting. But this brought up a bigger issue. The real issue was we needed a massive mindset shift. It wasn't just about having the words, it was about knowing exactly when we were going to write them, record them, and edit them to hit our Sunday completion goal. We actually mapped this entire workflow out on a giant whiteboard in our living room. If you're watching the video version, you can see the chaotic time lapse of us drawing out this grid. But essentially, we split our weeks into strict zones. We realized we needed a hue visual to keep us accountable. On the front, I'm drawing out a grid for the entire week, separating our pre-production from our actual recording days. You can see me writing in the Sunday and Monday slots that is dedicated entirely to brainstorming and reviewing our themes. No recording, just mapping out the vision. Then we black out block out. Then we block out Tuesday for scripting because going in without a script was a recipe for delays. Thursdays are our official recording days. Logging this in means we know exactly when we have to be on the mic. Finally, we marked Friday and Saturdays for the audio mixing, editing the video, and finalizing the upload. The board is completely filled with our new workflow, and it feels incredible having it out of our heads and on the wall. But having the schedule on the front of the board is only half the battle. On the back of the board, for our audio users who can't see it, we are building our own personal vision boards. Yes, and we're building these boards not just as pretty pictures, but as a constant visual reminder of where we're heading, our goals, and exactly what we are working towards. Besides that, we have our today to-dos and weekly to-dos next to our daily cooking and cleaning checklist that we're filling out every single night. It helps us remember what we have accomplished, what we're supposed to tackle next, and keeps track of ideas we can talk about on this pod or for future endeavors. I I just love how we are literally manifesting our few like massive future endeavors right next to sweep the floor and wash dishes. You're so right. We almost didn't get this podcast out because of how bad we were at scheduling our daily lives. Even things as simple as taking breaks and mapping out meals were things we weren't fully maximizing. But by committing to this new strategy and even adjusting our sleep times, it forced us to be a lot smarter with our day-to-day life. Especially since we have so many creative projects that we're doing visually and audio-wise right now. But part of this new schedule means learning to really take advantage of the moment. To look at our daily lives and see the content or the scripts hiding in plain sight. Like the other day we went to the track to do some walking and weights at the same time, and I didn't think to record it for the podcast. So we intentionally started setting reminders on our phone to ask, hey, could this moment be useful? Like, look at my weight loss journey. I've been on this journey for a while. But over the past couple of weeks, we made a change to my workout routine that taught me the exact same lesson about structure. I've been doing these five-mile walks around the neighborhood, hitting 12,000 steps a day, but I was struggling hard to keep up with my family's pace. My family is a lot faster than me, and their normal stroll is my absolute speed walking. Even my Google Health app coach was literally alerting me, like, oh, you're overreaching. No, and like just really seeing you pursue this journey is really like inspiring me to do the same. And I'm really proud of you for pushing through, and it's hilarious reading your coach and having it say to you constantly that you're doing so much. But you have to, because this is the journey that you want. And AI is sadly programmed to not really understand that sometimes. Right. But I will s I will say, I was totally wigging my pace though. Mm-hmm. And every time I hit a super tall hill on my route, I would lose all my momentum and slow down significantly. So just like scripting this podcast, I had to build a system. This week I went on Kozick and Album Music to curate a playlist of songs that fit exactly 150 BPM. That BPM is my target pace now. It's fast enough to push me, but not so bad that I can't speak. And since Cheryl Porter always like recommends adding movement to your vocal practice, and I've been using Cheryl Porter for a long time and I trust her. Yes. I'm actually using these walks to practice my breathing and focus on consistent progress. The playlist helps keep my rhythm, keep my pace, and helps me conquer those hills so I don't get left behind. Right, no, and it's really like such a interesting way of finding your pace, but it is helping you. It's really helping you making sure that you're on that pace and you don't fall back and like it really is like a motivator in some way and like in a way. Yeah. And I'm just like I'm also doing a similar playlist to you. And it really is like a great way to make sure you're on pace because you can also sing and it's doesn't feel so much like I have to go at this certain pace. It's like it's something fun. You're dancing to music that you love. You can easily follow the music. Right. And I just really love that. And it is really fun to also sing with your family. I feel comfortable being able to express myself in that way too. Which I also have to be for my career, but it is like very helpful and I'm very grateful to be able to do it with you and to do it with the rest of my family, because it does really help when I'm feeling those slumps. Yeah, no, right, yeah. I completely agree. But it all comes right back to that whiteboard. Whether it's locking in that BPM playlist to survive a hill or scripting an episode so we don't rant for an hour, structure is what actually gives you consistent progress. So we're not winging it anymore. Yes, no more winging it. Want to stay on this journey with us? Make sure you subscribe to our channel right now so you never miss an upload.
