That's what our that's what our podcast is all about. We're here to dish on our personal stories. We're here to talk pop culture, reality TV. And originally Julia wanted to call this the hate and ass bitches. Yes, I did. But we decided to tone it down a little bit. We realized that that might have been too aggressive. We've been friends since high school, so we talk all the time just like this. And we figured, let's start a podcast. What's the worst that could happen? We might get canceled forever.

That that's like literally probably the worst thing that could happen. And I can get blacklisted from like every hospital that I work at.

Yeah. So, Julia, tell us a little about yourself and what your job is.

Julia 0:47

Yes. So I am, I just turned 30 and I'm a nurse and I'm very burnt out and I hate my job, which is why I started this podcast. I've always wanted to do something creative with my life. And I feel like reality hits when you are reach adulthood and you have bills and you realize that like working is kind of your only means. But I'm here to show you guys that you can have a creative outlet at any age in life. Sarah, tell us more about you.

I live in North Carolina and I live near the coast. And I love going to the beach and surfing and watching reality TV, all things bravo, and just breaking down every little detail and reanalyzing it like a thousand different ways. Yes.

Sarah is actually one of the smartest friends I've ever had. She is an oceanographer and she's one of the coolest people that I know. Coolest people. You're just easily oppressed, I'm telling you. I'm not. I used to cheat off of her all the time in Marine Bio. She would get A's, and I didn't even cheat correctly because she would get A's and I still got it. I ended up getting a C and I cheated off of her.

No, Julia's very smart too. You have like the hardest job being a nurse. Like I can't imagine doing that job. It's very hard.

It's hard. It's hard. It's hard because of the patients and like the people that you work with.

But yeah, I wouldn't I would not be able to deal with what you deal with on a daily basis. But yeah, this is gonna be like a great outlet for the both of us because we're both burnt out and we're struggling at our jobs. And we just we just wanna, you know, yap and have gossip sessions with you guys and help each other get through things. Like we're both entering our 30s. This is like really challenging times as we're, you know, redefining what we want to do with our life and our who we are. And we feel like we're right in between millennial and Gen Zs. So we feel like we're like really well positioned to speak to both generations.

Yeah, I feel like millennials are very work hard and you'll get there and you have to work every day, and you can't call out sake versus Gen Z are Yeah.

Sarah 2:53

I mean, Gen Z is more stereotypical challenging systems, right? They have realized that like it's not always just like your hard work is appreciated or rewarded. And I feel like we we see it both ways. We're realistic in the sense that we know we have to pay our bills, but we also understand that things are no longer gonna be the traditional way where you can just get a good, you know, degree, yeah, and buy a house. Like that doesn't exist anymore for us.

It doesn't. It it's really hard to buy a house now, and it's really hard to like enjoy your job. I feel like your job can replace you at any day. Like we see that.

We know that the world is burning around us, everything's crumbling. Exactly. So the petty agenda. We're calling it the petty agenda because we are reclaiming the word petty, which was traditionally used, you know, to kind of belittle women, saying, Oh, you're being petty, you're focusing on the wrong things. But really, being petty is super important. It's being detail-oriented, yeah. It's being passionate about something, and what we are passionate about matters, okay? Yeah. Our TV shows matter, and our gossip celebrity sessions matter.

Julia 4:04

They do. Our reality TV shows matter, all those things matter. And we're not just talking about gossip and celebrities. Sometimes we're just talking randomly about menopause.

Like, what the hell is that about? We don't know. We're gonna talk about all things that we go through and that women go through or things that we relate to, and we're just gonna try to be really real and authentic with you guys.

Yeah, and I think it's important because we have a very different take on things, and I might include talking about my coworkers. So anyone's game.

We are gathered here today to talk about one of the most iconic things that happened between Sarah and I. It's called Batch from Hell.

Sarah 5:13

Raise your hand if you are personally victimized by a bride before. That's both of us.

Julia 5:19

I feel like I victimized people during my wedding too. So it does happen. It happens, but this was like horrible. This was a horrible experience that no one should have to go through.

Sarah 5:29

It ended up in one of us having to drop out of the bridal party and both of us getting blocked. So luckily, we survived to tell the story and we're gonna rehash it. We've probably talked about it a million different times before, but we're gonna talk about it one more time for you guys and share it all. And we'll be sharing pictures on our Instagram and TikTok. Yes, we are willing to embarrass ourselves with these like disgusting photos. Horrible. That horrible. We really, we really never we did not want to unearth these, but just a special treat for all of you.

So we are going to talk about, we're gonna use a fake name so no one can really look her up. Her name for this story is gonna be Isabel, and her bestie that betrayed us and schemed us is gonna be called Pablo.

Sarah 6:20

Yeah, so Isabel was a mutual friend of both of ours from high school. But then during college, we both kind of drifted apart from her because she just like always had really toxic friendships with people. And as we were growing older, like me and you, we were getting we're still definitely toxic in certain ways, but we've gotten more mature. We've gotten, especially in our friendships, we're a lot more protective over who we surround ourselves with, and we're not willing to be friends with toxic people. So, but she kind of continued on that like negative path. And so we just naturally distance ourselves. So when it came time for her wedding and she got engaged, we were pretty surprised when she uh asked us to be her bridesmaids.

I definitely was very shocked to be her bridesmaid because I had more falling outs with her than you did throughout the years because we were me and Isabel actually went to school with each other in the city. She was in FIT. I went to school in Brooklyn, and we were friends with her one mutual friend, and her one mutual friend looked at me. And I, this is red flag number 300 in our book of friendships. And her her mutual friend was like, just want to let you know that Isabel, I know she's a really good friend of yours, but she talks really badly about you. Like she says horrible things about you that I think we should confront her on. And I actually took her mutual friend's side, and that was like the that I think that was the first fallout I had with with Isabel. And I think you were in North Carolina, you were just trying to keep the peace, but we continue to be like semi-friends with her, regardless of every fallout that I've had. Like I continue to be friends, which is why I was shocked to be a bridesmaid.

Yeah, I feel like I was always just trying to play Peacemaker, and again, like you had it harder, you were physically in the same place. I was far away, so it was easier for me to just have like a surface-level friendship and not really confront these issues that we had with her fundamentally. And so when she asked us to be bridesmaids, we kind of felt like we had to do it because we felt bad, felt like she didn't have a lot of people to include. When really that kind of was her own fault. That's that she didn't have a lot of people. And like, whatever, like it's okay if you don't have a lot of friends, but also why are you asking people to be your bridesmaids that you secretly don't like or that you secretly talk shit about, or you know, it just doesn't make sense.

She definitely hated us, low-key, and high key wanted us to front the bill. And I also didn't want to say no because I genuinely thought her mom was gonna put a curse on me. Her mom is scary, her mom is really scary. She definitely put a curse on us for sure, for sure. That's why we're all having issues in our life because she can put a curse on us. It all traces back to this, it all traces back to this. Our number one hater.

But yeah, we were really shocked. She invited us over, she like made a little gift box saying, you know, the typical Ask Me Your Bridesmaids, and she actually asked me to be her maid of honor, and she was like, Oh, don't you remember? You always said you wanted to be my maid of honor in high school. And I was like, sure, no memory of this, no memory. Doesn't sound like something I would say.

Not at all. It's and I I remember confronting her about it because she was like, Oh, I have a special surprise for you guys. And I was like, Oh, are you gonna ask us to be your bridesmaid? And she's like, Yes, of course. But she's like, I'm gonna ask Sarah. I know she's like, I'm gonna ask Sarah to be my maid of honor. And I and I I just straight up told her, I was like, I don't think that's something Sarah would want, especially since you guys don't even talk like that anymore. The bridesmaid thing, I was like, fine, whatever. But the maid of honor thing, I was kind of shocked about. But anyways, we continued on with it. We continued on for the plot.

And for the plot, honestly. But turns out I was a co-maid of honor. I wasn't the only maid of honor. I was a co-maid of honor with her gay bestie, Pablo, who we introduced before. And looking back, we think she really just asked us because we both had good jobs at the time. We had like stable income, unlike everyone else that was invited on this trip. And so I think we were there as people that she thought would put the bill.

100%. And a little backstory on her from Pablo. Her and Pablo also had a really big falling out where he left her in stranded in New York City and he took a flight straight out to Canada the next day, didn't tell her anything, and they ended on bad terms and then reconnected later. And she made him a a man of honor. He also didn't have a job at the time, which I confronted her about, and she said, it's fine. His dad is really rich, he can afford anything.

This guy, he lives the life on social media like he has money. So it's not like he's there like living a humble life and he just can't afford things. Like we totally understand that. We've both been there, but that wasn't the case. This guy was going to Taylor Swift concerts weeks before this trip, so keep that in mind. And then saying throughout the trip that he couldn't pay for anything or he couldn't afford things and just lying his way through, we'll get into it more, but basically trying to manipulate the whole situation so that other people would pay for him.

He was an Anna Delve.

He was like, if you look at the all the different ways that he scammed us, truly Anna Delve. Like exactly like that. Yeah.

So, you know, then comes a couple of months, you know, we start planning her bachelorette. Originally, she wanted to do New York. And I guess her man of honor, Pablo, swayed her to do Vegas. Biggest mistake of my fucking life was to tell her to do Vegas.

Sarah 11:50

Because broke people should never do Vegas. It's only gonna make you more broke. You're not gonna win money. You're gonna end up in a shitty hotel. You're gonna end up in a shitty club. If you can't pay for a table, you're shit out of luck. And when I was planning it, they really wanted to stay on the strip, and they thought that the flamingo hotel looked cute. Uh, just PSA to anyone deciding to go to Vegas. Do not stay at the Flamingo Hotel.

Flamingo Hotel. I feel like on pictures, maybe it was well marketed, but in person it was like the tackiest hotel I've ever seen.

Sarah 12:22

It looks totally different in person. First of all, we get there and there's like a line of a hundred people just to check in. The computers they're using don't have any working software or internet. They're literally like hand typing things in on the computer, handwriting notes. It was insane. And they didn't have carts like to put your luggage or to carry stuff. So not starting off great. And we were trying to be responsible and plan ahead of time for this trip. So we were like, let's door dash a bunch of cases of water and sacks to the room so that we don't have to worry about them.

Yeah, we landed before Sarah did. So it was me and Isabel's cousin who, for the sake of this pod, we'll call her Amanda. Me and Amanda were manually lifting things up. She brought up the cases of water for me, and I ended up getting like 12,000 steps in.

Sarah 13:13

You guys were taking so many trips. And in these hotels, they make you walk all the way through the casino, up around long hallways. It's really bizarre. Like it's something out of like a nightmare. So it's not a short trip to the room. It was such a nightmare.

Julia 13:26

And I remember Pablo sitting on the bed and just yawning and making baking, not helping. He was making a bitch ass face the entire time. Let me tell you right now. Bitch ass face. Really not helping us. And finally, Amanda was like, I'm done. I don't want to make the third trip. Ask him to do it since he's sitting his ass down. And I was shocked. I was like, wow, okay.

Sarah 13:50

The reason why Pablo was in a bad mood to start off the weekend, starting off the weekend, already pissed off, already playing the victim, because he got evicted from his apartment. And so the whole joke the whole weekend was, I'm evicted. And we were supposed to feel bad for him. But the real reason why he got evicted is because he was sleeping with his landlord and not paying rent. Which, like, props. Props to him. But long term, not gonna work out for you, buddy. Not gonna work out. No, no, it's not gonna work. He's a calm man, he's a professional con artist, but he's not that good at it. It's very easy to see through.

Julia 14:24

Yeah. So he was a miserable mess. Already the trip started off with like really negative energy. So that's where we were at. And then finally Sarah comes in, and then that night I think we go to like Chippendale's. It was a pretty low-key night. We went to Chippendale's and we came back and we ate like in and out, but we still have to dress up.

Sarah 14:43

Yeah, let's talk about the outfits. Okay. We were basically like her puppets. We're like her monkeys. She's like, dance, monkeys, dance. She literally had us wearing three to four outfits a day.

Julia 14:54

It was Barbie pink on Saturday, Sunday, pool party, blue swimsuits. Then the PM was black. Black was the most reasonable one out of all of us.

Sarah 15:03

Sure.

Julia 15:04

We'll look over that one. Oh, Monday. Open colors. That was, I mean, she was big open. Open, which is great. We love that. PM, white, with bob hair wigs, and then Tuesday.

Sarah 15:15

We will show you those wigs. We will show you the photos.

Julia 15:17

Are iconic. Tuesday, denim. And then we had Black Swims again for, I guess, like the middle of the day, which is stupid.

Sarah 15:26

It was just so wasteful and silly.

Julia 15:28

Yeah. Goodbye dinner was metallic. It was dumb. It was all stupid. And I hated it. It was six outfits in total. And she made us wear, she got us pajamas, which is the least she can do.

Sarah 15:39

It's the seventh. And thank God me and you had a separate room. It wasn't even planned, but the rest of the people had conjoined rooms, and me and Julia had a separate room just based on what the hotel could give us because it was a shit show. But thank God, because we were hiding in that room half of the trip, trying not to get yelled at by her. Yeah. And she figured out a way to call the phone, like the landline phone in our room. So then if we weren't answering our phones immediately, that would start ringing. So there was no escaping her. There's no escape.

Julia 16:10

So the first day was chill. I would say like the first day that we landed Saturday was a very chill night day. No tensions there, just like tensions with Pablo and getting evicted. And I remember us going to our back into our room. And you know, that's when we first started questioning. We were like, how is he gonna pay for this?

Sarah 16:29

Yeah, if he's not paying his rent, that seems like a very important thing you would pay.

Julia 16:33

Yeah. So not so not looking good, not looking good. So that was done on Saturday, and then we had Sunday. Sunday was the blue swimsuit, it was the pool party. Do you remember that?

Sarah 16:44

Yeah, so pool party. Another tip if you go to Vegas. If you want to go to a nice pool party, first of all, you need to get there early. Second of all, you should probably get a promoter. And at the very least, you need to pay for a table. I am realistic about these things. If we all were like, we are not gonna pay for this, then there's literally no point in trying to go because it's not gonna happen. Like you can't just show up at 2 p.m. and expect to get in. It's not gonna happen. And that's exactly what they made us do. They made us walk down the strip in our bathing suits, go to one of the most popular pool parties, get there like hours into its starting, and then we proceeded to have to stand in line. We knew we were never gonna get in. So we walk all the way back to our hotel and we said go to the Flamingo Hotel Pool, which was disgusting. Don't recommend. Pretty sure if you go in that pool, like you're going to get a UTI, like guaranteed.

Julia 17:36

It's disgusting. That pool was so gross. Before that, before the pool party, Sarah and I actually went out and we got breakfast for everyone because we were trying to be really nice.

Sarah 17:45

If you know one thing about me and Julia, it's that we want to go get a nice coffee and pastry. Yeah. That's what we enjoy doing. That's our vibe. Like, that's how we that's our joy in life.

Julia 17:57

That's that's our that's my honest to God joy in life is to get like a really good coffee and pastry and like, yeah, that is my that is my vibe.

So we me and Julia went out and we got that stuff, and we were so nice, even though everyone else was sleeping. We brought them back pastries and sandwiches and asked for their orders.

So that was the pool day that we had a lot of time for. The next thing for the evening was Steve Aoki, but dinner at Tao. So we had to wear all black.

Sarah 18:22

Do you remember that? Yes. He added the Tao dinner to the itinerary, probably. He did. We have evidence, we have receipts, we have a timeline. I have a timeline. I have I I had to go back because we we've buried this deep in our in our brains. We didn't want to remember this traumatic experience, but here we are unearthing it.

I didn't want to go because you can get it in New York, and I feel like Vegas does have a really good food scene. Yeah, there's so many good places we could have gone to, and he picked Tao, which I'm like, okay, cool. So she we all went to Tao, and Pablo didn't go because Pablo was drunk on Pablo and his sister both didn't go. So it was me, you, her cousin Amanda, and her other gay bestie. And the vibes were okay, but I remember it being kind of expensive. So after that dinner was over, the next the next thing to do was for us to go to Steve Aoki. And finally, Pablo decides to wake up and i in his slumber, wake up for fucking Steve Aoki, which who again, tacky do. Steve Aoki, like I I don't give a fuck. Diplo was playing that weekend and we still didn't go to Diplo. We saw Steve Aoki instead, which I think is fucking crazy.

Sarah 19:34

We were like, Do you like him? Like, is that why we're going to this? And she's like, No. So it was all for Pablo. This was basically Pablo's Bachelorette weekend. This was Pablo's bachelor. If we really look at it, yeah, but we were somehow there. Yeah. We had no business being there. It was no business paying for all his shit. Like, no, yeah, it was terrible. So at this point, like I'm exhausted. Julie's exhausted. I literally, my feet are bleeding. I'm wearing like shitty heels, like mistakes were made, you know. And I don't even do this often because I'm a people pleaser. But I I look at Isabel and I say, Isabel, I I'm so sorry, but I really can't make it out tonight. Like, I have to go home and rest. Like, I am not feeling good. I do not feel good. I'm not well. Like, this is not gonna end well. And she looks at me, she's like, Are you serious? Are you kidding me? And then she looks at Julia and she goes, I'm guessing you too.

Julia 20:22

And I was too stunned to speak, so I stuttered.

Sarah 20:26

Yeah, I guess I can't go. I can't go.

Julia 20:28

Really didn't want to go. It was not like I was forced because Sarah wasn't going with me. I genuinely was so tired and exhausted because we did a pool party. Then we had to get ready and get drinks and go to dinner at town. Like there was no time in between to really sleep and take a cat nap.

Sarah 20:45

There was no time. Your friendship should not be transactional where you're like measuring everything they do for you and if it's enough.

Julia 20:51

Yeah. And I just feel like if you're doing this much for a friend for a bachelorette, like you should be caught like aware of that. Yeah.

Sarah 21:00

Well, she was aware of that for Pablo.

Oh, she was aware of everything for Pablo.

Sarah 21:04

Yeah, so we don't go, we're in trouble. We're like, we get yelled at, we're afraid, we're getting bullied.

Mm-hmm.

Sarah 21:10

Okay, so what's the next day? The next day, that was Monday was a spa day, right? Yeah, I think that I think that day he honestly skipped like half of the trip though. Like, so we went to the spa, which like I think it is a good idea on bachelorette trips to have like optional excursions if they cost extra money. And regardless of my personal budget, if there's a spa day on the itinerary, I will be there.

Julia 21:34

Yeah, like I think that is what's worth it. We went to the spa day, and that was actually the best day ever. But obviously, Isabelle being Isabel ruined the the vibe.

Sarah 21:44

So she was like, We have to leave early because Yeah, me and Julia were floating in the pool, like living our best life, like eating all the snacks. As well as like, we have to leave because he's at the hotel by himself.

And I was like, Okay, what is he, a child? Fine, we'll go back. We we went back. Then we ended up going. That was the night that we had the fugly bobs. She made us wear these fugly bobs and it was all white. And we went to dinner at Spago or yeah, Spago.

Sarah 22:10

We went to like I'm all for the ugly outfits, but like we went to like a really nice Italian dinner as per her request. And we like walk in and everyone's dressed really nice. And we're just in these ugly ass colors. And before this dinner, so before the trip, honestly, we wrote in the group chat that the way we were gonna pay for everything was through split-wise. So like we'd all take turns, like putting our cards down, but then at the end of the trip, we were gonna calculate everything and make sure if anyone owed anyone money that it would all be accounted for. And so we realized up into this point that um Pablo, his sister, and their other like gay bestie, which I don't know, what do we want to call him? Emmanuel.

Okay. So we were like, hmm, those three haven't put their cards down for a single purchase yet. That's starting to make me worry that we're gonna be shit out of luck at the end of this and they're not gonna pay us back.

Yeah.

So we're like, when the bill comes, like me, you, and Amanda's cousin. Yeah, Amanda, we were like, we banded together. We were like, okay, when the bill comes, none of us are gonna pay for it. Yeah, they're gonna pay. Like, don't, no matter how awkward it is, it was fucking awkward. The bill comes out. So awkward. No one's reaching for it. No one's reaching out for it. No one's reaching for it. Like a minute goes by to the point where the bride was reaching for it and was like, gonna pay. Because honestly, I feel like deep down she knew it was embarrassing that her friends were like not acting normal. And she defended them.

I remember her being like, guys, can one of you she looked at me and you and is it it like Amanda? And she was like, Can one of you guys just put your car down? She was like, Babalo, like he can't, like his car doesn't work here.

And we're like, Yeah, like an adelby classic.

Julia 23:56

His car just on the Delby side doesn't work, nothing's working. Something about transaction fees. R remember this, right? Like, remember that that remember this part in the story where like Isabel basically was like, he can't pay, he doesn't have anything to pay with. And I guess she takes us into the bathroom and then she finds she exposes him. She basically says, Emmanuel fronted the bill for Pablo for his apartment, and that's why Emmanuel is not gonna pay.

Sarah 24:22

Yeah, so Pablo was not paying, but we were also wondering why Emmanuel, her other like gay best friend, wasn't paying either. Because we knew he had money, like it didn't add up. So, but turns out that Pablo also owed Emmanuel money for covering his rent some of the time. So Pablo's in deep. Pablo's running like a full-on Ponzi scheme at this point, and he's trying to loop us in. He's trying to loop us into this Ponzi scheme.

Julia 24:49

He's trying to make something work that isn't going to work. Yeah, and we're not we're not having it. No, we're not having it. And we discover his lies and deceits as as we're there sitting at the table, and like, well, it was awkward. And you can tell that that day you could tell visibly there was a lot of tension with us wearing the wigs, with the dinner, like there was just a lot of tension. And Isabel just got annoyed at us.

Sarah 25:12

The only way that it was gonna go well is if we went along with everything, and because we weren't willing to completely get trampled on, then she was pissed. Which she was pissed, it's crazy. So then that night we're going out again to a club, this time to hear DJ Poly D, which was kind of low-key, probably my idea, honestly, because I feel like I was obsessed. I'm obsessed with Jersey Shore. I think it was your idea. But it was like, you know, you pay for tickets. Do we pay for a table? No. No. So we get there, we're pushed in the back. If you don't pay for a table at a club again, you're literally like the rejects, pushed where you can't even see the stage. Yeah. And it sucks. It's very awkward.

That's what really uh sucked was us not getting a table. And the entire time I kept telling Isabel, I'm like, let's get a table. Like, I don't mind paying the money. And she'd be like, no, no, no.

Sarah 26:05

But we were like willing to go out that night because we knew the night before we got in trouble for not going out. So we were like, okay, we're gonna stay out because we can't get yelled at again. And then secretly she wanted to go home, the bride, and the bride was telling Pablo, I want to go home, but I kind of want to like public punish them a little bit and make them stay out, right?

Didn't you find that out? She said that and I was upset. And then during that night in the club, I was with her, and you were off finding us a better spot in the club with her cousin. And I remember her being like, Look, they left us. Do you see that? They left us. She was like always trying to instigate drama.

And it just wasn't that serious. Like, I was just doing some mischievous, I was doing some mischievous ass shit, and I was trying to figure out a way for us to secretly get past the bouncers and into the better area without paying.

And she just kept looking at me and she's like, see, Sarah left you, Julia. She left us. And I remember being like, Yeah, I mean, I was sad that you went off with with her cousin because I ended up getting stuck with her. It was then in that moment I realized I didn't fuck with her. I just didn't want to be there with her.

Because she's not but it was it was too it's too childish. Like it was just crazy.

Yeah, she wanted to go home, so she was like basically grouping us all to go. And she and I was like, hey, like we gotta wait for them. I'm not gonna leave them at a club. And she was like, No, Julia, like they left us. We don't have to wait for them. Like they they can find their own way home. And I was like, that's messed up. Like, we all came here as a group, we're leaving here as a group. If you don't leave your friends in a club that they don't know, like you don't you don't leave them. And I don't know, I just think that's like the most selfish thing you can do. And I also was kind of shocked that that really opened my eyes because she she was about to leave her cousin, which I'm like, that's your cousin. That's your the only person on your side, and you're leaving her. Like she's the only normal one other than us in that group. Crazy. And she like wanted us to like leave her with you, which I'm like, that's fucked up.

I feel like we stayed literally like 30 minutes total. We left and we wasted our money on those tickets. Another example of money spent for no reason. So the next day, we were supposed to just have a chill day, right? We're supposed to go to old Vegas and the hot like do like touristy things, like go to the Vegas sign. Was Pablo a part of this? No. He was he was just sitting in the hotel room, eating our snacks, drinking our liquor, eating our leftovers.

The entire remember, we got two handles and they drank two handles of liquor.

Like impressive how much they were able to mooch off of us. While we were off doing excursions that he was supposed to be a part of, um, Isabel was like, I just wish we could go to a nice Italian dinner. Literally right after we just did that the night before. And we were like, we just went to an Italian dinner. She was like, No, but like a nice one.

That's when I knew I don't want to talk to her after this. It's her wedding and then we're done. That's that that's what I thought was gonna happen. Let's talk about checkout though, because she was upset.

Sarah 29:16

Okay, let me let's explain. So each person's card was set to their room somehow. So basically, Julia had her card for our room, and Pablo had to put his card down for their room. And so when Julia went to check out, she obviously just checked out for her room. And then what happened? Pablo was pissed because he didn't put he didn't want to pay for his room. So who came to his rescue? Isabel. And Isabel was yelling at Julia saying, Why don't you put your card down? Now he has to go wait in line.

Julia 29:43

I spoke to her about it, and I was like, Well, he didn't put his card down for the entire time, so why can't he put his card down for this? And he was like forced to pay. I actually don't know if he ever did pay, but it's what came after that made me drop out. Was it like two weeks we were waiting for payments? Because I was like, let's get this done quickly.

We posted everything to Splitwise exactly we had laid out in the beginning, and it showed a breakdown. So if you were questioning a transaction, if you actually owed for that, like you could see it. Like it was all straightforward. And so he was basically not paying Julia back what he owed her. And of course, we're already suspicious and annoyed. So every day that goes by that he's not doing it, we're like pissed. We're more and more.

Because you know, my thing is like, even if he were to message me being like, listen, money's a little tight. Like, can I can I can I wait a month? It's not even that. He he didn't even say that. He wouldn't own up to that either.

He would just lie his way out of it. Like, this was literally a trip that didn't need to happen, didn't need to be this expensive, didn't need to be in Vegas, didn't have to have all these extra dinners. If it was someone that I knew, it was people that I knew, I would be more leaning.

I'd be like, Yeah, I'll wait. You can give me the money back whenever you feel comfortable with because I know them, but I don't know him. And he's off in Canada. Yeah, I didn't trust him already. So he's off in Canada doing whatever he wants. And it's he didn't even like make a payment for anything. Like the fact that we have to beg you for money for for dinner just showed me that you're unable to be trusted.

So basically, Julia eventually decided to confront Isabel and Paul Pablo about this.

I sorry, I did confront Isabel and I asked Isabel, hey listen, I've been asking Pablo for the money back for this trip. Do you know when he's able to give it to me or if he can send it to you and give it to me? And she was like, I don't really want to get involved in anything. But then she did get involved. She did get involved. I'm gonna bring up the message.

Sarah 31:34

Basically, what happened was at one point Pablo was claiming that he was ready to pay Julia. And since Julia didn't answer in that minute, confirming something about her account info, then Pablo was using that as Isabel, I'm trying to pay Julia, but she's just not answering. She's not cooperating, she's making things difficult. And then Isabel decided to contact Julia saying, Yeah, she said, I don't really want to get involved in this.

I'm so appreciative of everything you guys did for me. But I think there has been some miscommunication between you and him. I know Pablo and his sister wanted to pay for things when they were there because they purposely took out cash since transferring money would cost them more because of processing fees. But it seems like Hold up right there. Hold up right fucking there.

Sarah 32:23

Hold up a fucking minute. Where was the cash? Yeah, there was no cash. I never saw that wallet open. He didn't even open the wallet. He had every opportunity. He could have paid us cash at the end before we left. He could have paid cash for any of the dinners. That was bullshit.

And honestly, if he had if he actually had a wad of cash that he was offering to pay, I would have been like, okay, here, I'll spot you. You can give me the cash now. And he didn't. He didn't have cash because he's a a liar. She says, but it seems like there was no communication on how things should have been paid. He's been trying to pay you, but you also need to be sensitive about foreign transactions. Those things are not as quick.

Julia lost her mind and she actually grew a parent and she decided she was gonna drop out of the wedding. She was not gonna be a rise maiden.

I realized I couldn't do this, and I had no stake in the game, and I was and you know what's crazy is like the only other friend I had connected to her was you. And you were getting that annoyed with her too.

I was so annoyed, but I thought it was gonna cause me more pain to drop out rather than to just disassociate my way through and just keep the peace. I didn't have the guts to drop out. I was too afraid.

Julia 33:32

That's also because you were a maid of honor. I feel like it's harder when you're a maid of honor because you have more of a role and you plan things, and she's expecting to plan her bridal shower, and it's just easier to like appease and then drop out. I feel like for me, I had no stake because I wasn't a maid of honor and I didn't plan anything for her already. So I dropped out. She kept calling me nonstop. Finally, I had a I had a discussion with her, and I said, Listen, you stood up for Pablo the entire time of the trip when he barely came to to do things, and it just feels like you don't really appreciate our friendship and the years that we've had. And she just kept being like, All your friends love me. Is that why you didn't want to hang out with me anymore? How could you do this to me? It's three months before my wedding. And I and you know what? At the time I was like, I felt bad, but I but now I'm like, tough shit, you acted this way. Not my problem. She's just such a calculated person, and she knew what to say to me on the phone because she was so calculated. She was just like, all your friends love me.

She was calling me crying, saying her heart was breaking. And I was so awkward. But I really didn't at that point, I didn't even really feel bad for her because she had like bullied me too. I was just trying to like get through it.

And I feel like you were just trying to get through it. And I I ended up telling her I would come to her wedding, and I was like, Yeah, I can come to your wedding as a guest. I would love to come as a guest, but then she didn't even send me an invite. She replaced you.

No, she replaced you, remember? She like asked a coworker to be the bridesmaid in place of the city.

But then she was like, We could work on this, and she never put in an effort after that to work on it. So she wanted me, she basically, I think her intentions were to guilt me into staying as a bridesmaid.

It's because you fell out of line. Like with her, she wanted you to always like be in line with what she how she wanted you to act. And so the second that you questioned that or stood up against her, the friendship was not gonna work.

And that was probably the best thing that I've ever done was like drop out of her wedding.

I had no I just couldn't. I just couldn't drop out. I just had to do it. I did not have the strength and the confidence to drop out. So I went through with the rest of the festivities. I planned her whole bridal shower. Um, and then I also went to her wedding, and like day of wedding was there for her, you know, running around, helping. Um, and it went fine. At that point, things went smooth. We didn't even really, we just avoided talking about you because she knew obviously I was gonna take your side. And then months later, I'm blocked. So it just proved all along that like we were being used for her wedding, which is just so weird. And karma gets you somehow, and it's gonna get back to you. There are people who are be who will be in your life and they're low-key your biggest hater, and you need to cut those people out. Your friends, your partners, they need to be your biggest supporter. If they're low-key a hater, get rid of them. We don't we don't need that. We already are we already hate ourselves enough. We already have low self-esteem enough.

We don't need a bad ADHD and like have a therapist. Like, I don't need you to be hating on my life. Like, I I already have really bad of really bad mental health. Like, you don't need to be hating on me.

I would say the biggest lesson and the best lesson that was taught to me was like one of my really good friends, Sarah George, giving a shout-out to her, was like, Julia, you still have time, have time left to drop out of this wedding. She wouldn't, she would convince me every day. She would be like, You need to drop out of this wedding. You don't like this girl, drop out. And then when I finally did, she was like my biggest supporter. Her and Nisha and Jennifer were like, We're so proud of you for putting your foot down. And that was like the first time in my life that I've ever dropped a friend, put my foot down for something I didn't like. And it was such a powerballer move. And if you're out there and you are also struggling with the same thing, say no.

Just drop out. At the time you're gonna you think it's the end of the world. It's really not. It's actually not really a big deal. And you know what? Your future self will thank you for not being friends with that person. She did give us some good content for this first episode, though. My biggest takeaways well, first of all, don't stay at the flamingo hotel. Wait, we need to talk shit more about this hotel, the flamingo, because not only were their systems down, but the electricity would like randomly go out. And we were really paranoid about bugs, like bed bugs, to the point where Julia the whole first night, I think you did let us turn the lights off or something. She thinks that if you keep the lights on that the bugs won't come.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I thought that if you kept the lights on, bed bugs wouldn't come.

And Julia's sleeping, but Loki every once in a while acted like she feels bugs biting her.

And like she's like, I felt very itchy. And and even in the bathroom, I would take like five-second showers. I would close my eyes and I'd be like, okay, I'm done.

Biggest takeaway number two, I need to stop people pleasing. Just and I should have followed in your footsteps. And then also, this is probably a hot take, but for me, I just think that a lot of us have lost the plot with wedding planning and bachelorette trips, and we need to re-center and refocus and realize that these trips are meant to be for good quality time with friends. Um, it's so rare. We're all so busy in our lives to like make time for each other and have these trips.

Enjoying each other's companies. I feel like you're never gonna get that time back. So really just enjoy each other's presence at moments.
