What We've Learned So Far gathers a group of wise women around life's big questions and everyday experiences. We explore what we're learning about life, relationships, purpose, community, and what it means to be human in a rapidly changing world.
Listen, subscribe, share, and join the conversation. We'd love to hear what YOU’VE learned so far.
In this episode our wise women explore Dreams. And these are some of the questions we’ve posed for ourselves:
- What does our dreamworld mean to us? Is that part of our reality?
- How do we interpret our dreams and is that useful to us in our lives? How?
- Does daydreaming qualify as dreaming or is it different?
- What specific dreams have been meaningful to you and why?

Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. This is what we've learned so far. Okay, welcome everybody. Hello, good evening. We are joining today to talk about dreams, and our moderator for the day is Megan Riley. Go for it, Megan.
SPEAKER_01Oh, thank you, Kay. Hi, everyone. I'm so glad you're here. This is one of my favorite topics to discuss. And not only because it's, you know, for many of us the holiday season, things start to get busy, we have limited time to gather because we're gathering in ways that aren't part of our normal work week. But I thought it would be nice to talk about dreams because it's fun, right? It's lighthearted. We can get serious, we can uh get mystical, even transcendental if we want, right? We can go there. However, we can also keep it really fun. Um, some of us on the panel may have really deep, meaningful, um, and vibrant dream lives, and some of us, you know, may not, may be um looking for some inspiration even through tonight's discussion. So I'm excited to uh introduce everyone to you and get the conversation started on dream world and dream time. So before we start moving into uh some official questions, I would love to hear from the panel, allow everyone to take a moment and introduce themselves. So I'd love to just hear your name, where you are signing in from, and then also um, if if you know, I I already have a surprise question, but what is a dream? What is what are dreams? What is this? What are we even talking about? I will start with Ashley.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Megan. I'm so excited to answer this question. So um, first off, honored to be here tonight. My name is Ashley Phoenix, and I am tuning in from Sedona, Arizona. And gosh, dreams. For me, the way that I understand them is it's our unconscious working some things out. Sometimes playful, sometimes heavy and serious, sometimes just emotions that we can't seem to release in our regular life or our everyday experience. And so our dreams allow for us to process things that maybe we have a little resistance to or maybe we're curious about. So that's how I see dreams. Thank you so much. Of course.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, thank you.
SPEAKER_00Joan, I would love to hear from you.
SPEAKER_04I am Joan Advent, and I am in uh Virginia in the Richmond area, and I appreciated that Ashley went first and gave us her definition of dreams. I would say I mean I'm gonna just jump off a little bit and say dreams are entertainment, they are fun, um, they can of course be quite scary. And I'm I I I don't I know I don't fully understand how it all works, but I I know based on your questions, there there are some pieces I won't go into now that it feels like it is a thinning of the veil between us and some other dimension, whether it's our unconscious, whether it's our more expanded self, whether it's other dimensions of of beings that come and commune with us in the dream time. So thanks for convening us all.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, definitely. Thank you, Joan. Lisa, I'd love to hear from you. What what is a dream?
SPEAKER_02What are dreams? Hi, I'm Lisa, and uh I'm in I'm from San Antonio, Texas. And um, well, I'm not from there, but I'm there right now. Um I um like after I found out I was gonna be on this panel, I do this thing where I ask the universe for something to think about before I go to sleep. And what I got about dreams was that it's an um instrument for purification. And uh I think a lot of things that are on my mind that I can't haven't been able to digest. I have a dream about and that I um and that if I remember, it's important for me to look at. Um it's also quite fun uh that that world even exists. And I also I agree that it's like we're we're accessing different dimensions of our consciousness.
SPEAKER_01So wow, thank you. I just love that instrument for purification. It's like we we have so many thoughts that go through our head, it might even um sort of be filtering them, you know, purification, filtration. It's that's a really unique viewpoint. I've never thought of it that way. Thank you. All righty Kay, we'd love to hear from you. What's a dream?
SPEAKER_03Thank you so much. Um, my name is Kay Eck, and I'm coming from Sedona, Arizona. And um really what I feel about dreams is that they're a mystery. I mean, we don't really know, or at least I don't, because I haven't, dreams haven't been a huge part of my um my journey. But I think that we don't really know what part is mind, what part is consciousness, what part is subconscious or unconscious within us, and what and what is what part is the quantum field that we're tapping into. So I think there's just you know endless areas for exploration. And I'm so glad to be here because dreaming is something that I would like to dive more deeply into, but haven't yet. So I'm looking forward to being uh inspired.
SPEAKER_01Oh, great. Well, this is this is going to be a lot of fun. I can't wait to dig into the questions, learn more about your dream world, um, and and and to keep that sort of fun as the tempo in a way, because I think at the end of the day, because it's happening somewhere in this subconscious, unconscious, sleep state, other dimensional state, it is difficult to describe because we're not tangibly always working within it. And so uh I brought this topic. Uh, my I'm Megan. I'm uh coming tonight, uh signing in from Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas. And uh the dream world has been uh not only a part of my life for decades, I've always paid attention to my dreams, almost just because it felt like woo-woo, like kind of like trippy, kind of like cool, like adventurous, right? To do so. Uh it was almost like tapping into a little bit of magic before I understood um the mystical path I would, I would, you know, eventually embark on. To me, dreams are like this like subconscious unleashed. We get to the point, perhaps, where we might be able to navigate our dreams or perfect, purposely direct dreams or lucid dreams. We'll talk about some of that, but most of the time they just happen to you. And sometimes you wake up and you're like, oh my gosh, like, should I be worried about myself? Or like, what does it mean? What does it mean? And you know, Joan, you talked about that possible, like sometimes it disturbs you. You take it with you all day, you think about it over and over again, you have a like a visceral or physical reaction to them. So these dreams, they're real. And it's been very uh uh very fun for me in the last couple of years to to uh join a dream circle and really emphasize this work in my life, keep a journal. Uh, we'll get into a little bit of that, but I I really want to know more about your experience because I've been experiencing um dreams on a deeper level for a couple of years, like I said, and I want to hear what's going on in your dream worlds. So, Lisa, I would love to ask you, um, like describe your dream world to us. What what what do dreams look like in your life? What does sleep times look like in your life? What is your dream world?
SPEAKER_02Um, that's this is such a big subject. Like, I feel like every dream is unique. Um I don't tend to remember my dreams that much, but I've learned how to cultivate remembering them, like uh wearing eye shades so that when I wake up in the morning I'm not completely brought out of the dream. Um and I've even like asked the universe before I've gone to bed, like, could you could I remember what goes on this time? And uh and I have even, I mean, I have dreams that I don't know what it means, um, but it's interesting and I try to figure it out. I've had I had a recurring dream when I was a child that I did not figure out until I was an adult, um, like much older adult. And um, but I have ask gone into my sleep state, which is what I like to call it, since dreams are something you can do with in the you can dream it while you're awake too. But um ask a specific question for me, like help me figure this out. And the dream has it's just been miraculous what I've gotten. Um, one time I asked the dream to uh help me write up something really brief on this subject, and it delivered so beautifully. I woke up in the morning and I just I had the whole thing down, and the person I was giving it to was like pretty impressed, but I just feel like it was from higher up. I was like totally guided.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if that answers anything, but yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I mean, in your dream world, do you tend to dream uh with any regularity or is it sporadic?
SPEAKER_02It's very sporadic. I would say I I remember dream maybe once a week or once every two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's pretty good. All right. Well, thank you. Thank you for sharing. I'd love to ask this um the same question of you, Ashley. What uh what does your dream world look like? What does it mean for you?
SPEAKER_00My my dream world is very infrequent. I have to say, for the most part, I don't always remember my dreams. And I I have to say I do enjoy a full night's rest. Um uh so whether I I remember or not, I do enjoy rest. I will also say that if there's something that I'm tussling with or there's some cosmic drama playing out in my reality, I do find that I do get very clear messages in my dream time through symbols or through messages from um loved ones that have passed, or even loved ones that are in that are that I know that are in my everyday life all the time. Like they'll show up in my dream and they'll deliver a message or information that is impactful for whatever kerfuffle I've landed myself in, whether it's career or uh a client thing, or um, or even connected to my divine purpose. So um, so I do love to to Lisa's point, this this conscious cultivation of bringing um or asking or requesting that higher collective consciousness to to bring information to me um in a way that I can untangle. And similar to Lisa, I I have had situations where I'm like, wow, I really need to solve this particular thing, or I need to write up this particular thing, or I'm looking for inspiration in this thing. And I find that in my sleep time, I might not dream about that specific thing, but I'll wake up with this like aha moment that is exactly what I need to kind of pull it forward. A lot of my friends know that if something is going on in our life, I'll often say, Can I sleep on it and get back, give back to you? Because I either need the rest or I need the information. And so if I can get some rest before I respond, instead of being in a reactive space, um, I find that it's a lot more grounded and a lot more clear. So that's a little bit what my dream dream world is like. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's interesting you bring bring up like taking a question to bed, like a couple of of you have now said that, to to sort of get some guidance from the dream world, from the sleep state, from the subconscious. Um, because you know, we can ask our own self for the answer sometimes. And during the awake time, during the day, it it it there's so much distraction, there's so much interference, it's difficult to even hear yourself, right? Um, and so it's it's a good, it's a good segue though, because you're taking this very real, like I have a question in real life and bringing it in into um the world, so or into my dream world. So Ashley, is dreaming reality?
SPEAKER_00Is dreaming reality? I think Kate said it. Well, I feel like there's a lot of quantum layers that I'm not an expert in. So I feel like gosh, I I really don't know how to answer that question. Can I sleep on it? No, no, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Um I I feel like it can be. I I think because we as humans have a conscious choice, I think that there's information that we can choose to bring into reality. And then I think there are times in that dream state that we can choose to not bring it into reality. I think that that sovereign choice is very present. Um, so I think it can be a reality, but it doesn't necessarily have to be.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Thank you. Okay, I would love to ask you the same question. Is dream time reality? Um, but then um there was there was a second part I was going to ask you about that is, oh, and can you distinguish it? So is dream time reality and can you distinguish, however, if oh, this one's real, this one's not. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, I I don't know if this really addresses the question, but I think it's so fascinating that some dreams are good and some dreams are bad. And those those must be coming from very different places. Um I I don't know. I I think that it's like it's that's the I feel like that's the same question as asking if the mind is real. It's like sometimes, uh a lot of times no. But um, you know, I I've noticed for myself in the landscape of my dreams is that I will be woken up if it's important. And it and I'll be woken up if it's bad, and I'll be woken up if it's good. Typically, especially if it's cold, I will not go out, get out of bed and you know, find the paper and write the stuff down. Sometimes I receive creative um ideas, or if I'm writing, you know, some kind of direction to go in, or some little clue to what's um occurring. And then what was the second part of the question?
SPEAKER_01Oh, can you distinguish like between like this one is is totally reality and this one's just imagination, just crazy town dream.
SPEAKER_03I really I think all of them must have some kind of purpose. It's not, you know, like it maybe it is for entertainment, but um, some some of it seems so relevant to our our daily lives, and some of it seems like, what? Like, no, you know, so I I I really don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01All right, Joan, I would love to hear from you. Um, I I I uh you can touch upon anything that we've asked so far, but um, I'm also curious if if if our dreams can be useful, can we apply them into our life? And if so, have you had experience doing that? We've talked about taking something and bringing it into the dream to try and find answers. What about on the other end? You have this dream, what do you do with it? You know, can you plug it into your real life? Are they applicable? Have they given you direction?
SPEAKER_04Well, I will say uh similar to you, I have participated in dream circles, and uh in particular, I'm thinking of one dream group that I did that was somatically based. So we would share our dreams and then we would choose kind of a key element of the dream and come up with a gesture related to the dream, and then people were giving reflections related to that, and and for me that was probably the most um directly applicable experience that I had with dreams. I'm appreciating Ashley and Lisa's statements about going into sleep with intention, and it makes me think probably how superior it is to Chat GPT that you can just say to yourself, I need I need the information on this. Can you provide it? And it it sounds like at least for some, and I'm going to try that tonight, actually. So I appreciate that. Um, I will say I have had so both of my parents um are are deceased, and I have had numerous visitations from each of them, sometimes individually, sometimes together. And that I feel like has been like a completion of some pieces of our time together here on earth and the some of the things we were meant to work out together. Um so I think I'll I'll stop. Well, the other piece I want to name, which is I would say an interesting element of my dream life, is when I lay my head back on my pillow, I will frequently get the dream back. So at night, uh, you know, I'll go to bed the in the evening, and the dream from the previous morning or day will come back to me, which I think I have never heard anyone else talking about. And recently I have found sometimes when I'm puttering in my kitchen, I will have certain dreams, like recent dreams that will come back to me as well. So taking the time to pay attention to those dreams uh is is certainly a practice I could do more of, but but I'm aware that something's trying to get my attention from that world.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like that explanation, trying to get my attention. I like you, I recall my dreams often, and I don't mean just like, oh, sit down and think, oh, I I'm remembering this dream I had last night. That happens usually in the morning, but I'll just be going about my day. I would say five days a week at least, I remember the location of a dream. I feel it. I it downloads for a split second, for or it takes me away from it. I start thinking about it, the room, the house, the the environment. I don't replay the dream, I just recall the place of the dream. And you've got to go, why now, right now? Why am I remembering right now this dream from 18 years ago? Right? It's the strangest thing, the way that it stays in your head like a reel. Um, we've mentioned a few times going, you know, going to bed, coming out with some answers. And it, you know, it makes me reflect oh, are we getting answers because we've dreamed the answers, or are we, you know, are we getting answers to the thing that we're sleeping on simply because we've cleared our mind or whatever? But I do believe there is a creation process. That's going on while we're sleeping as well. There is a creator, and so many things come to us at two and three in the morning, right? During this time when there's a lot of, you know, guides and whatnot, when the veil is thinnest at night, right? Between that, like two and five a.m. All right. Well, I am curious about your intentional experiences with the dream world. We've uh I know Joan has been in a dream circle. I'm curious if anyone's um, you know, practiced lucid dreaming or uh just kept a journal. Um, has anyone else been in a dream circle? Uh have you done any intentional work with dreams? And I would love to hear a little bit more about that if you have, even if it was on a retreat one time or something along those lines. Um, wave your hand if you want to answer that one because that's kind of would you like to talk about it?
SPEAKER_03Okay. Yeah, I I I can talk about that a little bit. Um, I want to talk a little bit about lucid dreaming, um, because I I know that people do practice lucid, you know, they work their way up. There's like a technique that you can use to become a lucid dreamer. I've had a number of lucid dreams, but I haven't worked on that. And um they it's just that awareness that, oh, I'm actually not in danger. Uh, you know, I can I can just stay where I am and the dream will dissipate, so to speak. Or uh I've had that one a few times, or um just like just a general awareness of, oh, you know, I'm dreaming right now. And but there's this, I want to, I want to talk a little bit about this this time um between sleep and awake, you know, like that twilight zone. I mean, and um I've had many experiences in that zone that I cannot explain, that aren't really dreams and aren't really real. And so um, I'll just talk about this one thing that I had happen to me. And I was, it was either right before falling asleep or right before waking up, and there was this loud bang, like a lightning strike, and I was up off my bed, about a foot, 15 inches, and I was aware that I was up off my bed, and I started to get some fear around that, and I said to myself, no, you're okay, you're fine. And then I stayed there for a while, and then I was in my house alone, and so you know, my kids are grown, they're out of the house, and um, so I was I was in that state, but my mind said, Well, it would be weird and odd and maybe scary if one of your kids came in and they saw you floating above the bed, and then I was instantly down, there was no in-between. I was up and then I was down, and then there was a I'm characterizing it as a voice, but it was not human, it was not male or female, it wasn't like robotic, but it and it wasn't speaking a language that I recognize, but it was like uh like it was almost like light language, and then it stopped, and I had this feeling of overwhelming love. And I remember saying to myself, um, please come back, come back, come back and visit me, come back and visit me. So, was that a dream or was that something else? You tell me. I I really don't know. I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_01I I would I would love to hear if anyone else had a comment. Is you know, in in the dream circle I belong to, we very rarely um can define something right away. We we have to talk about it. So we'll we'll define the experience once and we'll all take our turn and then we'll come back around and do it again and give feedback to one another. And sometimes that feedback, what ends up taking place by just like sort of drilling you with questions. Well, what color was it? What was your temperature? Were you this, were you this age? Was it a regression, you know, or were you a different age? What did you hear anything? You know, and we can really kind of dig deep and analyze, but I and I we're not going to do that right now, but um, that time was this before falling asleep, right? Not before waking up, right?
SPEAKER_03On the front end of it was one of the two, I can't remember. But those I've there's a lot of similarities for me between those the falling asleep and the waking up, the twilight zone.
SPEAKER_01Because that's when I get I've had so many experiences in that exact time at the front end, not quite asleep, not quite awake, but I'll wake up because whatever stops you from kind of falling to sleep in that moment because of this brilliant thing that just happened, typically. I usually have visions like geometry. And and that's interesting. So, Joan, you're you're shaking your head. Do you have any commentary here on what do you know what it was?
SPEAKER_04I I am I am not an authority on that, but but my instinctual response is that it is real and that it is not a dream, that that something is occurring. And I will say I am a napper, like a brief napper, where I might take a 20-minute nap a few times a week. Um and it's not that I'm sleeping for 20 minutes, but what I'm doing is like dipping into that state that you're describing. And for me, it is a time when I might be releasing my body might energetically be releasing quite a bit, but it and I've had various whether it's images or or unusual things coming in, but but it's amazing how profoundly alive and refreshed and different I can feel like coming out the other side. So that's all I have to add to that. Well, thank you.
SPEAKER_01Does anyone else have any feedback on uh Kay's direct question? Because I I agree with Joan. Yes, Lisa, I would love to hear from you.
SPEAKER_02Um I just thought that you described it, that you had this thought it would be weird for your kids to see you up above your bed, and that we that's our beliefs. As soon as you had that thought, it happened. You you got out of that state. So, and that feels very real to me. Like, like I I truly believe that if we believed we could fly, we would like physically we would if we believed it.
SPEAKER_01Raise your hand if you've flown in a dream.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01What are the odds? I don't know. I don't know the answer. All of us have. Amazing. Um, so so I'd love I'd love to ask this um next question. Have you who can who would like to discuss or um Ashley, maybe you can um can comment on this? Are are daydreams reality? Or I mean, are daydreams dreams? Have you ever had this blurry line? Like, am I am I dreaming? Am I asleep? Am I awake? Did I did that just happen? Did that you know what I mean? There's sometimes this blurriness, and I'm wondering if you've had an experience with that or daydreams, or is it all kind of in the same path?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, both. And um for me, I I think daydreams are very similar to night dreams in the sense that when you're when there's some element of your beingness that is relaxing into the quantum or into the everything, almost like a meditative state. Like I sometimes feel like that twilight space feels uh to me very similar when I'm in a deep meditation where everything is kind of relaxing and you can kind of tune in a little bit more to something bigger than yourself. And you, you know, that's when you notice like less of the body impulses and things like and things like that. And I I can only speak for myself and not the collective, because this is not a conversation I have too often with people, but I do feel like dreams, I really feel like they have different purposes because they have different feelings to them. I feel like there's when I know that it's coming from something higher than myself, whether you call that a higher self or you call that collective consciousness or the great mystery or whatever you call it, it feels warm, it feels like unconditional love, it feels like a place to sort of land in my beingness. And if I'm processing something a little darker, a little bit that maybe that has a hold on me, like fear or anxiety, it feels cold, it feels abrupt, and I notice like twitching in my body where like a cold, a little bit of a coldness in my body that it seems like it's sort of an uncon, like a like an energy. Maybe I've been grappling with or tussling with a little bit, and my body's just finding a safe way to release it where I don't have resistance to it. Um and then I feel like there's others where it feels more foggy and it's more in my head area, and that feels like just sort of thoughts that are moving through whatever they're moving through to not be thoughts that are held in my brain. They're just kind of being released. Um so that's how I've experienced it, if that makes any sense.
SPEAKER_01It's wild, yeah. It's wild. I think that's part of the joy in it. It brings the youthfulness out in us, not only because I I would be shocked if everyone on this panel doesn't recall a dream or two from their childhood. I mean, this is how how powerful and how um it how deeply they can imprint, right? Uh, not only into our memories, but but our life. Um it's a mystery coming back to what Kay said, the mystery of it all makes it a little bit fun, but also constantly is keeping us in that. Well, what is the meaning? Who am I? Why did I have this dream? And for those of us who are on any sort of healing journey, we've talked about healing, we are suddenly invited to invite our dreams on into our healing journey if we want to go that route as well. And that can be incredibly powerful. So, um, Kay, I would either love to hear um you comment about that. What I just said, the the healing journey, or um um uh I I would I would really just love to know if uh to start hearing about some of your dream experiences, period. Like what are the dreams that you do remember from childhood, or what is a dream that made you take a course of action or um even change something? Like wake up and change something about yourself. I'd love to just kind of have the fun part of of listening to your stories. Okay, I know I was all over with that, but yeah, no, I think you know what to do.
SPEAKER_03I think the um, I don't know if uh I don't want to speak out of turn, but I feel like the dreams from childhood that we remember, well at least for me, are usually pretty bad. Um I had the recurring dream that I had in my childhood was very dark. And um I mean, you wanted to keep it light, so I'm not even sure I'll mention it, but I was basically um I had committed a very serious crime, and this was when I was really young. This started. And it it's so, it's so um, it's it's so morose, this dream. Um I'm hesitant to even say it. I had buried a body in the wall, okay. And and I had this, and I was like someone was coming for me, like I was gonna get found out. And this occurred for many years. I had this dream. And then um, I actually remember posting about this on Facebook a few years back, I think it was during COVID, and it had come back when it had been absent for a very, very long time. And I I think it's it's you know, it it might be some version of imposter syndrome, like um, you know, you're not who you say you are, you're a criminal, you know, like um, and just like, you know, troublesome secrets that I've had to keep in my life or, you know, whatever. But I also want to end on um telling you about a funny dream that I had after you sent out the questions for this panel chat. I had a dream about the panel chat from hell. And it was okay, everybody was gathered in the same room and and like everybody like people had to go to the bathroom. We were, but there was only one bathroom. Two people were on one um computer, and I kept getting like feedback from them. People were coming in and out of the space. We started, um, we started like five minutes late. Um it was it was insane. And like everything that could go wrong went wrong. It was almost like we were like in a kindergarten classroom and there was just like, you know, all this nonsense going on. And but the the uh the question that came from that was should I just quit? Should we just quit? Just so I feel like um, you know, that might have been a little um seed that was in the back of my mind as to whether these were serving at all, um, you know, given algorithms and everything like that. Um, I just want to say here that I feel like we've been shadow banned since we did the authority um video. So I don't know. Um, so yeah, but funny, hilarious.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for sharing. So I would love to um I think we should go to Lisa only because you you shared a roof at one time with Kay while she was having these dreams, possibly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What was going on in your dream world? I would love to hear uh an experience that you you just want to share about your your dreams or um I would like to comment, but uh not I mean it's the first I've heard of this dream, the childhood dream.
SPEAKER_02So I I have to think about that, but I've also learned that my opinion about her dream is out of place. Only our opinion about our dream is valid, and that and it's for us. But I do want to say the thing about the it not working, uh like everything going wrong in the panel was a sense of humor of the universe. Like I think that was hilarious, and but I also think because I I I re-watched uh your last panel because I wanted to prepare for this, and um you asked about why why have these panels? Why why is this important to you? And I I just want to say that no matter what the algorithms are, that I really have to intentionally seek out the content I want to expose myself to. And this is one of those spaces that feels very sacred to me. So I would love for you to keep going and um and not worry about that, but but maybe more word of mouth from us that it's going on, and it's a great place to to just hear people's you know perspectives. Yeah, and then I do want to I do just want to say, because we did share a roof, I want to share one thing is that after uh I was in my 20s that my grandma died, and I told my sister I had a dream that she was sitting, she was standing, we were on a street corner, but she was kitty corner from me, and she had all these shopping bags, and she just lifted up her hand and waved to me. And I I told my sister about it, and she goes, That's her telling you you're she's okay. And I really believed it. And I it was such a satisfying experience.
SPEAKER_01That's great, yeah. And and it's it's what you said, we assign meaning, and that that's helpful, that's useful. Go ahead, Kay.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I also just wanted to bring up that Lisa and I had the same dream about my grandma at the same time. And it was almost like she was very present, and we I I was she had already passed, but in the dream, I was like, Oh my gosh, my grandma is so old, I need to go see her. I need to go, I need to go to her apartment. And and I was telling Lisa this, and she said she had the exact same dream.
SPEAKER_02Where in the dream we were so convinced she was still alive, and why haven't we been visiting her?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Then when we woke up, we were like, oh my god, she's gone.
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, what a trip. Todd and I, my partner, we haven't lived together most of our relationship until this last about six months. We've been in the eight years, the first time sleeping in bed together. And one night I just woke up and I tapped him. I'm like, I just had a dream that there was a copperhead snake in my dream. And he's like, I was just dreaming there were copperhead snakes in my dream. I was like, what? So just so fun, so fun. Um, Joan, I would love to hear from you. And then Ashley, Joan, do you have a fun uh dream story, a premonition dream, a visitor dream, a recurring dream that you'd like to share?
SPEAKER_04Well, I do feel like my dreams are very technicolor and dramatic, which is not surprising because I have big and intense feelings about many things. Um, I'm thinking about a dream with a friend and a colleague that almost was like an impressionistic painting, you know, the like the textures in the dream. And actually, I was reminding when this panel chat topic was discussed or put out, I started having more dreams, and it brought back to me one of the common themes in my dreams is being in the back seat and attempting to drive. Like there's there's always something. The the latest one was I'm in a bus and I'm like in the back of the bus, but I'm driving the bus. And that feeling of you know, not fully being in control of what's going on. That is a theme that I work with from time to time. And certainly I was a waitress as a young woman in in graduate school and college, and so the the being in the weeds dreams where you're the only waitress in the in the whole thing and the place is full, and you're so those classic anxiety dreams. Um, and one of my fun, I thought was fun, I still haven't figured out the meaning of it. I went through a period of having quite a few tornado dreams where I would have multiple tornadoes happening at any given time. Um, I wasn't in the I wasn't in the middle of it. I could see it from the distance, but yeah. And I was recalling as I'm sitting here having a dream that Kay, Kay was in my dream. This was a couple of years ago.
SPEAKER_01Oh yay! Isn't that cute? See, we feel like privileged when we show up in people's dreams, too. This is so cute, it's just the cutest. Wow, Ashley. I thank you, Joan. That was awesome. That was very, very fun to listen to. And it is, there's like chaos, or you know, being out of control, or the teeth falling out. And really quick, Ashley, before you answer, Lisa, you know, you spoke about like being careful not to overly comment on some people's dreams, like the meaning of them, because it is an interesting, cool. Process to try and figure it out on your own, or how could anyone know but you, really? Um, but um, what was I gonna say? Oh, but but in our dream circle, we we were sort of uh uh led by the person who's been doing this for some time. And she said, if possible, try not to like read the meaning of dreams either. Try not to like look at one of the meaning of dreams books or look it up on the internet. You know, you might like have a copperhead snake and look up the meaning of copperhead snake, maybe, but be careful overly defining your dreams too, because they're I feel so limitless, I wouldn't want to limit it in that way. So uh Ashley, I'd love to hear a comment on your dreams.
SPEAKER_00Sure. Well, two things is when people tell me they've dreamed about me, I'm always like, Well, I hope I behaved. I hope I was in a good way about it. I know because I think it's so interesting and it it uh it is, it feels like an honor. Um and when I was reflecting on what dream I wanted to share about, the one that I have chosen is uh is more of a premonition dream. It happened when I was younger, I was about 11 years old, and I had a dream that my so I went to a slumber party. I was at a slumber party, my grandpa was sick, and normally that night I would go see him at the hospital. But my my mother was really insistent. She was like, No, you gotta go have fun, go to the slumber party, like do the thing. And so that night I had a dream where he showed up very clearly and he said, Don't feel bad that you didn't come to see me. Don't hold on to that guilt. Basically, choose a different path. You can't be haunted by that because I won't be here when you wake up. And so someone came to get me at six in the morning and they had told me that my grandpa had passed. And it was a very lucid dream. Like I felt like I he hugged me in the dream, like it felt like he really hugged me, and it impacted the choices that I made from that point on because I could feel this precipice of choosing guilt that would have taken me to down a very, very dark path. But I think because he came to me, I almost feel like the space where our love connected is it gave me the courage to choose a different path and not stay in that victim space. And so it's something that has stuck with me ever since those types of dreams.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's powerful. That hit a that hit a lot of markers. It was a little bit lucid, it was a premonition dream. You had a visitor, you were able to apply the message into your real life. Like there was a that was like fully loaded, and and and that's one of those things where I mean I'm we're watching you, all of our energy just shifted, we're all feeling it, like the little goosebumps and all that, because there's a there's a mystical element, but um, I mean, you said you physically felt a touch, you know. And has anyone else? I'm going to do our rapid fire here in a moment, but has anyone else felt like you have physically been touched or I clearly Kay, levitated? That's pretty physical. But you know what I mean? Have you have you uh because I felt my dog jump on the bed after she passed one time, and we were Quinn and I were sleeping, and he, my son, woke up and said, Did Jezebel just jump on the bed? He was confused, and I said, Yeah, but she's still dead. I'm sorry, right? We went back to sleep. I mean, I'm his mom, you know, it's me. It's her ghost, it's the ghost of the dog, obviously, kid. Oh, yeah, yeah. So has anyone else though felt like felt something physically in a dream like that? A hug or a touch? Yeah, yeah. Okay, we're going to go through a little rapid fire. Um, and we're going to just raise our hands. I'm gonna ask you fun questions. And uh if you've had this experience in your dreams before, I would just love for you to raise your hand. We've already talked about a few of them, but it'll just be cool to see if um if we all have experienced these. So who has experienced a death premonition in a dream? Had a dream that someone was going to die? Okay, or died and then did. Who has received a message, like a clear message in a dream before? I can't say I have. Keep your hands up and okay. Who um who has had a shared dream with others? Meaning Todd and I both woke up from the snake at the same time. Like, who have you shared the exact same, or who has had shared dreams with others? We know that Kay and Lisa have. All of us rose our hands that we have flown in dreams, yes. Okay, I'm gonna ask a second question. Am I the only one? Or raise your hand if you flapped your arms to fly in your dreams? What is that? What is that? Like flapping, frustrated, can't get off the ground very easily, by the way, because I got no feathers.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so I I um I flew like Superman. I just needed to get the draft under me and I was off.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing.
SPEAKER_04That's pretty cool. And um I will say I flew more like I was swimming, so it was more like I was I was using my arms, but it was more like swimming as opposed to flapping.
SPEAKER_01Flapping. Okay, Ashley. How were you flying? How were you flying?
SPEAKER_00I just was flying. I don't feel like I moved my arms at all. It was just like this, like vertical and everything. Very interesting. Never talked about that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I my flying um dreams were like I was uh on like a trapeze, but they it was like between planets, and I would like let go and then you know fly to the next one and then jump over to the next star. And yeah, it was very cosmic. Cosmic. Cosmic flying, yeah. Of course.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Who um can can anyone recall music in their dreams or music having a a part of the dream? I've recently discovered I have never I have never had music in my dreams, I could safely say. I don't think so. Just curious. Okay. Not from the deceased, but raise your hand if you've had visitation from guides. Not necessarily the deceased, but full-on guides, your guides, angels, deities, who knows who it was, kind of guide. I haven't. Who's had lucid dreams? Have you had dreams where you invent or create something and then wake up and like write it down? Like I've had a dream where I wake up and have song lyrics in my head that and then I write the song when I wake up. So I'll raise my hand. Okay, where you create something. Reoccurring dreams. Reoccurring childhood dreams.
unknownJust curious.
SPEAKER_01Reoccurring adult dreams. Okay. Um does anyone uh dream in a foreign language? A language that's not their first language? And Ashley, do you normally speak that language in in awake time? Next level. Okay. Um and then oh yeah. And so I would love to hear a little bit more about any of those. Is there any of those from those rapid fires? Like I would tell you that I had visitation from my guides, but they were like animals, right? So I've had animals come to me in dreams. Um, so I'm just curious if you wanted to expand on any of those. Because that was fun. Yeah, Lisa.
SPEAKER_02I um it took me a second to remember, but um one time I was on my way back to Earth, like I was, I was the earth was down there, and I was addressing a group of beings, and um, and what I remember saying to them is um, but I'll miss people. And and then years later, um and I did put it together, I don't know if it's even a part, you know, that it matters in my life anymore, but someone told me that I had a um like a soul contract to be alone and to like lose everyone. And um so was to know there is no loss or something like that. And I thought that that was that that I was being given a soul contract and I was didn't like it. I was like, but I'm gonna miss people. Like, wow. But um I it was a long time ago, and I don't I don't worry about it now because I'm here with a group of people also it's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01Well, we have we have we have just a few minutes before the hour. Um, so I'd love to kind of ask a wrap-up question of everybody. Um, I will share one little thing since I'm the the moderator. I'm going to share something that I thought was really cool. I had a dream several months ago. Um, and I was just in a room and there were a few people, there was a man, a woman, and a child in the corner, and they were just living their life. There, it was just a scene in their house. I have no clue what they were doing. And I was observing them, and I was sitting there going, I'm in a dream and I'm observing these folks. Like, I'm just observing these people. So it was lucid. I'm like, I'm dreaming this. And the woman in the dream turned to me and looked at me, and she's like, and who are you? And I'm like, I am the dreamer. That is what I said in my dream. Oh my God. And that's what I love about dream circles. I don't think I ever would have done that. I don't think I would have ever done that if I hadn't been like actively engaging in my dreams. I'm like, well, I am the dreamer. And there was something that just felt so a little haunting, a little cool, a little lucid, right? It was one of my um most recent cool experiences in dreaming.
SPEAKER_03So I've heard that that's like next level lucid, you know, dreaming where there's where you can actually interact with people and you're actually influencing the dream. Yeah. This is what's gonna happen now. We're gonna have a conversation about this.
SPEAKER_01I know we're gonna have to do this once a year. Like, how's it going? But that that's the parting question I would love to ask you. What would you like to do with your dream time after this conversation, after the fun, after sort of reflecting on it a little? What would you like to manifest or do with your dream time moving forward?
SPEAKER_02Um I would like to join a dream circle because what you and Joan have shared, that sounds really cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01It's great. You like me, you check in with each other, you each share your dream in around Robin, no discussion, and then you come back and say it again and and just ask questions and discuss it and see what happens. It's cool.
SPEAKER_03I actually have a question I would, if you don't mind. Um I would like to know. Okay, so you're the way like I have to write my dreams down or I don't remember them. I don't want to get out of bed. I don't want to turn the light on. How do you do this if it's dark and you know you're supposed to be writing? What is the methodology? It's a huge sacrifice.
SPEAKER_01You it's a sacrifice to the dream, okay? To the dream world. I do get up and write them down when it's a really when when the dream really moves me. Um, I try my best to remember it, otherwise I forget most of them. Um, but you could in theory grab your phone. I've been trying not to sleep with my phone in my room though, and speak it into the, you know, into the video or something. Yeah. I I disrupt my sleep and I write it down. It's the worst and the best.
SPEAKER_02I didn't mean to interrupt, but I just wanted to say that I sometimes consciously keep my eyes closed and like more 3D remember what was going on, but keeping my eyes closed. If I open my eyes, it'll be gone. And that helps me remember a little more when I wake up.
SPEAKER_04I like that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, moving forward. You would like to tell us what you're going to do with your dream time.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Ashley. Uh, I would like to cultivate more joy in my dreams, like more of a joyful experience. I do find that mine are usually pretty grounded or pretty heavy in some way. And so I think bringing some levity, maybe another flying dream, would be good for me. That's what I'll call in.
SPEAKER_01I want to fly.
SPEAKER_00Awesome.
SPEAKER_04Joan. And I would like to go into my dream time with more intention, with specific issues, particularly things that I've had a difficult time getting clarity about in my conscious life.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_03I I think I would like to um continue to partner with my creative self in terms of um getting ideas for what should happen next, or who these more about who the characters are, or um, you know, little how am I gonna address this issue? Uh make it clear to me. And that's usually my my request is like, make it so clear that even I could get it.
unknownYou know.
SPEAKER_01Aw, I love that. Thank you. Lisa, outside of the dream circle, did you want to say anything else?
SPEAKER_02Or no, I thought that was a good thing to say.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it was. It was a great one. Well, I'll share a little quote with you in closing on this by Rumi. I shared it with the panel. Um, but I thought this was really quite beautiful. And obviously, Rumi, I mean, I would love to have been Rumi. It's like in in dream time. Oh my gosh, what fun that would be. So, this quote I sail with you, I sail with you on the ocean of my dreams to a faraway, distant place of great beauty and tranquility, where suffering and pain do not exist, where we give praises for our joy and happiness, where our love intertwines with love for all things. So, thank you so much for joining us in this conversation about dreams. And I wish you all a beautiful dream time tonight. Thank you. Bye, everyone.
SPEAKER_03Bye, everybody.
