What’s spoke to you? Send me a message.
I walked onto the stage thinking my job was to teach The Blueprint. What I didn’t expect was the lesson I would learn after the speech was over.
In this episode of Prayers & Blessings: The Podcast, I share what I learned from giving my first keynote, the feedback that changed my perspective, and why I realized people don’t just want to hear principles—they want to understand the journey behind them.
After we talk about the experience, I’ll play my full keynote speech, “The Blueprint: Follow the Plan. Fulfill the Purpose.”
If you’re building your life, chasing your purpose, or creating a blueprint for the next generation, this episode is for you.
Hug somebody and tell them you love them. They just might hug you back and tell you they love you. I’m just saying… holla at your boy.

What's up with the what's ups? Welcome back to another episode of Prayers and Blessings the Podcast. I'm your host, Mark Tyson. Before we get started, we're gonna leave a prayer. As usual. Heavenly Father, we thank you for another day, another opportunity, another chance to reach out and touch someone. Another opportunity to share growth, strength, courage, creativity, another chance to talk to someone with you out in front. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen. So, how is everybody doing? How is everybody weekend? This weekend I had an opportunity. We're gonna get straight to it. This weekend I had an opportunity for my first keynote speaker presentation. And how did it go? I'm gonna say it went wonderful. And I'm gonna tell you why. The reason why I'm gonna say it went wonderful is because I learned something about myself. I learned so much more about me, and I learned so much more about God. There were so many speakers there, and it was so many different lanes and avenues that you couldn't get around it. I had my oldest son there, I haven't seen him in weeks, maybe a month. He came out, he got something out of it. I had my two youngest sons there, my wife, my mother. My cousin that I haven't seen in like I haven't seen him in maybe three, four years. I was on my way to the event and he called me. I stopped by and picked him up, and he came. Now, I was supposed to be going to speak about the blueprint and help with principles and show how to follow the blueprint and explain the blueprint that anything that you ever have done, anything that you want to accomplish, it's already been accomplished. Don't make things hard. And I worked on my presentation to my best of my ability, to a thorough note, so that I wouldn't just be rambling and that I would have points and impact, and that I would stay on topic. Because when you're in front of people, you want to be prepared and you don't just want to freestyle. The funny thing is I hit my points. And you couldn't tell me I didn't do a good job. But when I got off the stage, more than one person told me the same thing. But they wanted to hear me. They wanted to hear more about me. They wanted to get to know me. They wanted to know how was the blueprint, how has the blueprint changed my life? See now I gave perspective on the blueprint and how to follow it. And how to how success leaves clues. And I helped them understand that success is not a guarantee, uh overnight guarantee. But at the end of the day, they wanted to hear more about Mark Tyson and how success has impact, how the blueprint has impacted you, and how do you use the blueprint? And true indeed, the thought crossed my mind as I was preparing the speech, but then I said, This is not about me, this is about helping someone else. The moral my story, the moral of this segment is what I'm trying to say is it's growth. There's no perfect moment. You learning anything you do in life, you have to jump out into it and develop and become the person that God has created you to be. Because if you wait and try to perfect it, it's gonna be perfected to your knowledge and your capability, especially when you never had no experience in these things. So I have things now that's gonna help me strengthen my speech because as a key, as a keynote speaker, you have this is my signature. The blueprint is my signature. So if God is using me, he's gonna help me perfect who I am and perfect the craft that I'm stepping into. I is it's no room for me to take the criticism as a grumpy person and say they don't know what they're talking about, they couldn't do it, or why would they not try? They think they know this, that, and the third. You have to be an open-minded individual when you're trying something new. When you're stepping into a lane, when you're creating your own lane, correct? When you're creating a lane for yourself. You create your lane, you stay in your lane. So I'm much more um I I enjoyed the feedback. I didn't take any feedback in a negative manner. In actuality, the minute the feedback was coming to me, I understood that the things that I have been through in the blueprint that I didn't have, because I didn't have a blueprint as a parent. I didn't have a I didn't have a parenting blueprint. I didn't have uh this um dynamic with a father-son relationship that I could follow to teach my children. But what is going on in my life as I'm creating the blueprint, you know, being not being perfect, but being present and learning as I go to become a parent. So that blueprint right there, I believe I could have touched on. I believe I could have shared with some of the youth out there to let them know that, okay, if there's not a blueprint for you, then you have to create your own blueprint by the things that you went through. Because once you create your own blueprint, your blueprint is the blueprint that you pass on to someone. Because the blueprint that I have right now of the trials and tribulations that I went through, that I'm not leaning on them as crutches, and I'm using them to stand on, and I'm teaching my children, and I'm learning from the things I didn't do with my oldest child that I'm doing with my youngers, my younger children, that's creating a blueprint for my legacy to leave, to lean on, and to live with. So these are things that I can add to it, and that comes with growth and structure, guidance, understanding. And I will be leaning more towards that. It's not that you, it's not that when you're creating your own blueprint, or you're in a situation, because sometimes we're in a situation we don't even realize we're creating our own blueprint, but once you are aware of it, it's not that you have to so much change, excuse me, what you started, but you always can add to it to make you a better person, make you a better speaker, make you a better lawyer, make you a better doctor, make you a better entrepreneur, make you um a better pastor, minister, leader. You know what I'm saying? Make you a better person so when you look in the mirror, you don't you don't always take the criticism as somebody's hating. You take it and you use it to benefit yourself. And I don't think I was nervous, I would think I was too busy focusing on trying to impact without fumbling. I guess it comes with the it comes with the territory. You know, you know, first time riding a bike, you're gonna fall until you get up. You have to do some things and you have to tweak some things and become better at whatever it is that you're doing in life. Even as me, as my chef um journey, I had to learn certain things, and I had to tweak it, and I had to, you know, that come that just comes with life as all around. I'll tell you what, I'm gonna let you hear the speech and I mean it, I don't want to, I don't want to say be your own judge, but I just wanted to let you hear what I delivered that day. I think it was, I think once I listen back to it, because I know me knowing what I was delivering, I feel like, okay, I could have done out here, I could have said this, or these things, these pockets that I was out of. But I believe that this is what's gonna make me better. This is what's going, this is what God wants for me. Because I honestly believe that I was touching someone. I had I had certain people that I looked down in the audience, they was locked in. And that's what I want. I'm there to feed, I'm there to feed. So I'm gonna go back in, I'm gonna cook up again, and I'm gonna continue until I get the meal correctly to feed the youth, feed the mid, feed feed the adults. I'm gonna feed them the word that it's gonna help them prosper. It's gonna help them prepare themselves for a better future. It's gonna help prepare them and help them become the person that God has created them to be. Because I believe that's my purpose. Um, one thing I do know about uh God, right? In my journey. Anything I'm not comfortable with, anything I don't want to be in, anything that I don't feel like God wants me involved in, he removes me from it and places me where he wants me. And I could tell it by the by the by the space that I be in when I'm there. I know this is where God has me at. And the only time that it goes wrong is when I stare left or stare right and I go off the direction that He's um that He has me going. Check out the speech, and we'll be right back, and you can tell me what you think. What's up with the WhatsApps? How's everybody doing? Minister Shay, thank you. Wherever you're at, I don't see you right now. But thank you for sharing this floor with me. Thank you for sharing the platform. Before I start, I want to ask a question. Who in here has used their GPS to arrive at a destination at some point? You what's your name, man? In purple?
unknownTasha.
SPEAKER_00Tasha. How you doing, Tasha? When you put your destination in the GPS, what happened? It gives you directions. Okay. So if I put my destination in my GPS, it's gonna give me direction. All the way down to the time I should arrive, right? And if I put my destination in GPS, and the GPS tells me to go left, and I go right, and I don't end up where I should be, whose fault is that? It's all my fault. Now every destination requires direction. Every destination requires direction. Now I don't like to teach from theory. I don't like to teach, I like to teach from my personal experience. I like to share my victories, my wins, and my losses. Because I believe that's where we can connect, we can relate. Y'all want to go for a walk? Walk with me. Early on in my culinary career, right? I had a chef pull me to the side. He said, Mark, I need you to make a demiglaze. I want you to take this oil and these shallots. I want you to sweat it down. And once this oil in this shallots sweat down, I want you to add this rosemary and this time. And a rosemary and a time going, release the aromatics. Once the aromatics release, I want you to deglaze the pan with this red wine. Carbonate. Carbonacid yon. Just sounds exquisite, right? And once you deglaze the pan, pour your beef stocking in, strain the herbs off, finish it. And what the chef gave me was not just a recipe. He gave me a blueprint to an exquisite sauce. And if I did anything other than what the chef told me, and the sauce came out wrong, whose fault was that? Not the chefs, not the pot. See, the problem is not finding the blueprint. The problem is following it. We never have problems finding the blueprint. We always have problems following it. We have some soon-to-be doctors in here, we had the dancers in here, choreographers, future choreographers, future ministers. Now, the blueprint in success in lead schools. Alright, what's the clue? What should I be looking for? Right there. You want to be a minister? Ask her. What should I do to become a minister? How do I follow your footsteps? We're not gonna make easy things hard. We ain't gonna reinvent the will. You wanna be a doctor? I'm gonna find me a doctor, I'm gonna study the doctor. I'm gonna look at the doctor, I'm gonna see what he eat, what he read, what he watching, how he dresses, his mannerisms. I'm following you to success because I know for what I see that it's capable and it's possible. All I gotta do is follow the blueprint. Phyllis, don't get mad at me on this one. How many times that Amazon package came to your house? You dumped it right out. Looked at the pieces, looked at your wife, start putting it together. About 20 minutes later, she came back. Now you got the blueprint out. If you'd have looked at the blueprint first, you'd have been done 20 minutes ago. How about that? But like I said, it's never finding the blueprint, it's always following it. I had a gentleman come to me at work one day. He said, Mark. Well, he didn't say Mark, he said Tyson, because they called me Tyson at work. He said, Tyson. I've been watching your podcast. He said, I noticed in your podcast that you've been through some things. He said, in your message, we like to say that you got over it, you got through it, and you want to teach other people and show them how to get through it. He said, I'm one year in my marriage. I got two kids. I got my nieces and my nephews, they look up to me. My mom. I want to become a better father. I want to become a better nephew. I want to become a better uncle. Most of all, I want to become a better person for myself. I slammed the brakes on, turned the oven off. Come on. What he was doing, he was asking me, what's my blueprint to change? How did I change my perspective on life? First thing I do is pray. My number one top is prayer. Then it's action. Because prayer gives me direction. Without prayer, and if you act opposite from what you pray for, you can't wonder why you stuck. You can't wonder why you sitting here like why things ain't working for me. Because you praying that you can stop drinking, but as soon as you get up off your knees, you go grab one. That ain't gonna work. So now he's starting to see things from a different perspective. There was a time I fell to my knees in prayer. I said, God, I want to get into real estate. I want to change my life. I want to leave a different legacy for my children. I want to show myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. I got up off my knees, went and bought a laptop. Started doing my research. Start creating a blueprint. Bought my first property. I fixed it and I flipped it. I bought my second property. I fixed it and I flipped it. Bought my third property. I fixed it and I flipped it. Like I said, I'm gonna share my wins and my losses. Because that's what we can relate. But in the process, something changed. I started taking shortcuts. I got happy. I want to invest in other things. The blueprint didn't change, I did. The blueprint ain't never gonna change. So those youth in the back, this is the secret. Basketball player, football player. Somebody has done it before you. Anything and everything that you want to accomplish in life, somebody has already laid the game out flat. Follow it. You believe practice makes perfect? Scratch that. Practice to make you better. There's always room for improvement. You need discipline to push you to practice. You're gonna practice more than you pray. So you gotta have a discipline. And you have to be determined. Now understand this. Because I don't want you to get this glueprist thing misunderstood. The blueprint. Does not guarantee overnight success. But it will give you the best opportunity to become the person that God has created you to be. For the people in the backpack, people in the hallway. You need to catch somebody turning that corner. The blueprint doesn't guarantee overnight success. It just gives you the best opportunity to become the person that God has created you to be. Not as a little hole down there, and I ain't falling. I'm not gonna fall. For some reason you got your eyes with, so that means that this message might be just directly to you. I'm not saying it is, but specifically. This is what I want you to understand, right? You have to do your research. Do your research, find a blueprint, follow the plan, and fulfill the purpose. Everybody wants to be successful. Everybody wants to say they've done it. But you have to have a purpose. Purpose is the platform that success lands on. Without no purpose, your success is absolute. So for your research, find a plan, fulfill the purpose. Thank you. After listening to this speech, I hope you understand why this weekend meant so much to me, why it was so important to me. I learned some things and it's going to make me better. Um I don't know if everyone was in that same creative space. If they were just coming from, you know, personal experiences, did they craft anything? Did they take their time or what? Me personally, I am taking my time and I'm crafting this these words so that it does have an impact. I don't want to hope that it has an impact. I'm going to, I am, not going to, I am owning this. Motivational speaker, keynote speaker. I'm here to impact, save lives, help change lives, um lead a legacy, leave a legacy, because I'm leading. And it felt so good just to have my sons in there to see me in a different light. It might not even, it might not even sit with them until later on in life. They look up and say, yo, my dad was on stage speaking, you know what I'm saying? But when I look back and see what God has done, not in a million years, I've never seen me speaking on a stage, trying to feed someone else and give them some words of encouragement. And I just thank God because my life could be so in so many other different directions. But he wanted more for me. And um, if you know me, I promise you. It's gonna get better. And um, I'm doing it because I need for what I do count. I need the things that I do to count. Not really, not for me, but for you out there in the world. I want to impact someone's life. I want my words to just catch them in a moment where they feel like they might be just ready to give up. And something that my and something I say somewhere on this planet make them say, hold up, stop. Let me do the research. Let me find a blueprint. Let me follow the plan. And let me fulfill the purpose. Because, like I said, any and everything that you want to do and one thing you want to accomplish in life, somebody has already done it. And um, the success story is there. Follow the blueprint. I thank y'all for tuning in to another episode of Prayers and Blessings Podcast. Um, I have an interview coming up. I believe it's gonna be great. I ain't gonna let the cat out the bag. But like I said before, thank y'all. Leave your leave how you feel about the interview in the comments. Till next time. Hug somebody and tell them you love them. And they just might hug you back and tell you they love you. I'm just saying. Holl at your boy.
