Welcome to Walking with the Savior. Today's message, speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth. Grab a snack, chill up, and let's chat together about hearing God. Have you ever wondered who was calling your name? That reminds me of the Bible story of Samuel. One night Samuel was sleeping and he kept hearing his name. He would get up, go to his friend Eli's room, and say, Hey, Eli, what do you want? That happened three times. Eventually Eli said to Samuel, Samuel, next time say to the Lord, Lord, speak, for I'm hearing. Sure enough, the next time the Lord spoke his name, Samuel replied, Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth. Samuel didn't whine, speak, Lord, if I feel like it. He didn't complain, speak, Lord, if it's easy. He didn't say, speak, Lord, only if it's what I want. I love the clear message of those words. Speak, Lord, thy servant heareth. I really believe that sometimes we need to give space for the Lord to speak to us. And if we say those words, speak, Lord, thy servant heareth in our prayers, or some variation of it, and then we sit and listen, we will be more likely to receive inspiration. Especially if we couple that with opening up our scriptures and praying for the Lord throughout our study to speak to us. The Savior declared, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. The invitation is not merely believe in Christ, but to learn to recognize his voice and then to follow it. That voice may come through scripture, it may come through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, it may come through promptings to serve, to repent, to forgive, or to move forward in faith. Often the challenge is not that God isn't speaking, the challenge is that we aren't listening. Let's be honest, the world today is really wild. There's lots of buzzes, lots of notifications, lots of distractions, and lots of things to keep track of, and which makes it really hard for the Savior to speak to us. Not that he's not, but that we're so distracted we don't take time to hear him. Like us walking through a busy park, we may not notice the birds chirping in the trees, but if we stop, slow down, draw our attention to birds chirping in the trees, all of a sudden we can hear them. It's the same with the Lord. He wants to speak to you. Do we give him space? What if before we turn on our phone in the morning or start scrolling, you simply knelt and prayed, Speak, Lord, thy servant heareth. Then open your scriptures and listen and invite him into your day. Pay attention throughout the day and listen. Imagine as if you're walking with him throughout the day. The Lord knows exactly what you need. He knows the next step on your path. He knows how to strengthen you, guide you, and bring you closer to him. As you approach him with a willing heart, you'll discover that heaven is not silent. The Lord still speaks. And you can still hear him. I want you to know he loves you, and he is desperately trying to reach you. It reminds me of the ancient method of what is that called? Uh tap tap tap tap tap tap. Yeah, you know what it is, but I can't remember it. Those messages come and have to be decoded. But you have to seek them. And it's the same with us. The Lord is seeking to speak to us. We just have to listen. I want you to know what he would say to you if he were here today before you.
