SPEAKER_00

Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of Stripes and Stories brought to you by Mozzie licking his paw while we are just started recording.

SPEAKER_01

That's hilarious. So I actually listened to the podcast back when like he was doing all his licking and then Jittle was doing something too.

SPEAKER_00

And the clicks on the floor.

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't really hear it. So these mics actually do a pretty good job.

SPEAKER_00

They couldn't hear you slurping your McDonald's that you had the other night.

SPEAKER_01

So we're we're going there. Okay. Okay. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I'll find some dirt to dig up and bring and bring that to I had to mess with you because what you said about me the last episode. You spend money as fast as you make it, the old Catherine. Okay. Alright. Well off to a hot start.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What do you gotta say?

SPEAKER_00

Alright. Today's episode is going to be a little bit different. Um, today's episode is gonna be hot topics. And Jake is gonna say if it's overrated or underrated. So we're gonna do some, and then if you want to expound on it, you know, a little bit, you can.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

But the ending is going to be, or we'll mix in some like lawn care related hot topics in there.

SPEAKER_01

I have no idea where this is going. This is hilarious. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So first, so for instance, I'll say a topic, and then you'll say whether it's overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. The annual July 4th hot dog eating contest.

SPEAKER_01

So overrated. I mean, chestnut brought it home, I think, again. Yeah, what was it like 68? 66?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, crazy. How do you eat that many hot dogs? Imagine.

SPEAKER_01

Can you imagine the bathroom visit?

SPEAKER_00

Especially because you have to have the bun. That's crazy. Insane.

SPEAKER_01

It's a lot of carbohydrates.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Fireworks.

SPEAKER_01

Underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Really? Oh my god, I think they're overrated. But I only feel that way now that we've had a kid. Yeah, but like I think it's so because I'm like, why are you lighting these off after 11 o'clock? When in reality, like if I didn't have a baby, I'd be like, oh yeah, these are cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but it's it's like once a year.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Well, not really once a year.

SPEAKER_01

And you know what? He slept through the night. We slept through the night. I mean, we literally were exhausted. I don't even remember fireworks going off.

SPEAKER_00

That's because you were already sleeping. You woke up a couple times. Um, but I ended up just running the shower while they were going off, and then he didn't even notice.

SPEAKER_01

Man, we had so many house projects on the 4th of July. Like it was so nice that we could get caught up on stuff that we had just put on the back burner.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And don't get me wrong, I I love that this was year 250. That's incredible. We're such a young nation, which is so cool. Um, obviously proud to be an American, but you know, I don't need a fireworks show to remind me of how blessed we are and how lucky we are to be in this country. But I think they're underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, I think the sheer fact that you own your own business at the age of 30 is pretty pretty badass and American if I if I say so myself.

SPEAKER_01

Well, thanks. But I mean there's 16-year-olds that own a business.

SPEAKER_00

No, I know, but what I'm saying is that you have the ability to be able to own your own business and you have the ability to be able to like essentially scale it to whatever you want it to be.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I think you think I'm way cooler than I actually am.

SPEAKER_00

I appreciate it, but um the World Cup.

SPEAKER_03

I have mixed feelings.

SPEAKER_00

What are the mixed feelings?

SPEAKER_01

I think it's overrated, but I also feel that it's underrated. It's a 50-50. Most professional soccer players are pussies. That you you touch them.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not even saying the actual soccer players themselves. I'm talking about the World Cup in general.

SPEAKER_01

Underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Like the hype that comes with understanding stuff. Really?

SPEAKER_01

You have the best of the best from every single country representing their country. They've been some of these men six, seven years old, that was their goal.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's a good one.

SPEAKER_01

To play in the World Cup and they accomplished that. So I'm gonna go underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay. Let's do some just fun little hot topics. Okay. Electrolytes.

SPEAKER_01

Overrated.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Like electrolyte packets?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So overrated.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_01

They're filled with sugar.

SPEAKER_00

Well, can't you get like sugar-free ones that are actually like good for you?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but they're shit. All you need is either Celtic salt or pink Himalayan salt, and you're fine. Oh my god. You don't need and I will say, Logan Paul, his stuff is actually pretty decent prime. Pretty high quality.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, prime is good.

SPEAKER_01

Because he also includes naturally electrolyte water, coconut water.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

In it. But like, don't get me wrong, those um the ones from Costco, what are they?

SPEAKER_00

The liquid IV.

SPEAKER_01

Like, they're great. They taste great.

SPEAKER_00

It's like juice.

SPEAKER_01

They're not, they're not anything to write home about.

SPEAKER_00

I loved the bomb pop flavor that they had. Oh, Nico this summer.

SPEAKER_01

Hot topic. Nico's asking me if I like the bomb pop. I said it's decent flavor. Nico's ass.

SPEAKER_00

No, I loved it. No, it's pretty good. I like the bomb. I had it like almost every day when I was pregnant with Z. Um, just because it was really hard for me to get my water in and it was easier with an electrolyte. Yeah. But I think that's why. It's because like there was sugar in that one. It wasn't the sugar-free version. So of course. That's why I liked it so much. Um, going barefoot at the gym.

SPEAKER_01

Like if you're just doing socks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. That's so gay. Um, wear vivos. Wear what I have. Wear barefoot shoes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just wear flat shoes.

SPEAKER_01

You think you're so cool doing the minimalist or how God intended you to actually use your feet, and you're just gonna wear your nasty ass socks all around the gym. That's disgusting.

SPEAKER_00

It's disgusting.

SPEAKER_01

The bacteria alone, just on that floor, is so disgusting. But wear barefoot shoes. You don't have to get those gay toe ones, you know what I mean? Uh-huh. But do like the wide base shoes. It's a gay my knees have never been better. With and I know you love to make fun of me for wearing them, but like they've grown on me. But they literally are so like it's changed one, the way I spread my feet to then take away from ankle pain to then it it just goes all the way up. It goes to the knee joint, then it goes to the hips, goes to the back. It's so incredible.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like too, there's a lot of like people that go to the gym, like you know, the teens, the tweens always have something new trending. And I feel like lately it's like going to the gym and like Birkin socks and socks. Yes, and then like your pajama pants. And like I just don't understand it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they're trendsetters.

SPEAKER_00

We belong to Wolf Gems and Waterford and like love the gym, love the atmosphere.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe, baby. You can't be telling everybody where we're going. I mean, like you turn them on your Instagram, you're practically TikTok famous at this point with your channel, whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but like the kids that go there, like because Jake will usually go super early in the morning, I go late at night.

SPEAKER_01

And I love it because I I get the serious people there at 4 and 5 a.m. And when I go, you get the kids the broccoli heads.

SPEAKER_00

There's kids that are walking around working out with their shirts off. I'm like, why? Like, what are you trying to prove at 10 o'clock at night?

SPEAKER_01

At 16 years old.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Cute. So weird.

SPEAKER_01

Cute.

SPEAKER_00

Um, big dogs.

SPEAKER_01

Big dogs. It's hysterical.

SPEAKER_00

Overrated, overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_01

What? Big dogs? Yeah. What does that mean?

SPEAKER_00

I'm asking you, are big dogs overrated or underrated? It's a hot topic.

SPEAKER_01

Are you referring to literally mouse sitting next to me?

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm referring to just big dogs in general.

SPEAKER_01

Underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

They're the best. They have the most love to give. All they want to do, and dogs in general, all they want to do is please. But they're so chill compared to the little prissy ones. The little prissy ones want to be the big dog.

SPEAKER_00

The only thing I will say about that is that I feel like anytime a big dog has like an injury or an issue, it seems amplified because they're so big. Like, for instance, like Doodle's got her like leg issue, which is getting better. But like you don't really think anything of it because she's like, she's a small dog, she can compensate with her other legs.

SPEAKER_01

She's not super heavy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But like Mozzie with his huge body and his big legs, like it's a human being limping around the house.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and seems like way worse of an issue than this.

SPEAKER_00

Totally. Um okay, now we'll get into like some other little hot topics here. Um, car dealerships.

SPEAKER_01

Overrated.

SPEAKER_00

I agree. I feel like for most people, you either love going to the car dealership or you hate it.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I enjoy the process of it. I enjoy the negotiation. I enjoy seeing beautiful craftsmanship. I like to see how the dealership keeps it from clean from a cleanliness standpoint. Um, but overrated, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree. I feel like anytime you go, there's just like somebody trying to fuck you over. Get you into something else and make you pay more and disguise it as like, no, this is actually good for you when it's But there's there's good salesmen out there too. Of course, of course.

SPEAKER_01

There's if they're a true salesman, they get you in what you want with the budget that you have. They don't play this game of well, what what do you want to spend a month? I don't no no no. I'm not playing this game. What is the cost of the car and what is the APR? Just tell me what the rate is. I can do math.

SPEAKER_00

You wouldn't believe the amount of um people like when I was calling around to see what the lease prices were were of a traverse, which is what I really wanted when uh my lease.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, please. I wanted a traverse, I wanted a wagoneer, I wanted a Kia Carnival, I want a Forerunner. You know what? Maybe I want an old land cruiser. You were all over the map. Don't even say you wanted a traverse, you wanted it for eight hours and then you switched.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I just mainly wanted the traverse because they had Chevy loyalty because I I have a Chevy lease. But anyway, um, so you wouldn't believe the amount of dealerships I was calling around because like some of them were doing pull ahead, some of them were doing um, you know, specialized pricing or whatever. And you wouldn't believe the amount of dealerships that I talked to that were like, well, what do you want to pay? And I was like, I said the same thing. I was like, I don't really need to know what I want to pay. I'm asking you what the current prices are for a lease.

SPEAKER_01

Like, why are you asking me what'd be me walking up to give someone a long quote, like a neighbor, right? They come up, they want service. How much is it? Yeah, what do you want to pay?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But let's start there. Let's start the bidding at what you want to pay.

SPEAKER_01

And we'll start the bidding at $19.

SPEAKER_00

You're gonna go look at a house that's $500,000 and be like, this is what I want to pay for your house. Like, that's not really how it works. Like, that's the bare minimum price the person will accept.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Sorry, we are just entranced by Nazi right now, pounding down his place. Now, I'm trying to remember why do dogs do the circle and the pound? And is it I think it's instinctual where they're pounding ground?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, to like make their bed.

SPEAKER_01

To make their bed, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like I think their wild instinct.

SPEAKER_01

It's so cute.

SPEAKER_00

I love but he doesn't do that on the couch. Like he only does the couch. He only does on the place.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and sometimes on the bed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we're on our 12th circle. Trying to get comfy 13. Ah, God, it's ready for me now. That is so nice, that place. Okay, continue.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, do you have any hot topics before we move on to some other ones?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I mean, yours were all over the map. Yeah. Oh man. Okay, all right.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, go ahead. And then I've got some for you.

SPEAKER_01

Shiny clean tires.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Underrated.

SPEAKER_01

100%. Love a nice wet tire look. I want to lick that tire.

SPEAKER_00

There were times when I lived by myself and I had my Silverado, and I would like literally just do the tire shine on the tires. I wouldn't because it's white, so like normally it stays pretty clean. But like, I was like, I don't even care as long as it's got that tire shine, like rolling up.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Sushi.

SPEAKER_00

Overrated.

SPEAKER_01

How dare you?

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

I love see, but that you like cooked sushi.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but also like I don't understand why. I think I mainly think that it's overrated because I feel like everybody and their mother are like, for my first post-pregnancy meal, I'm gonna have sushi. It's like my first postpartum meal was a friggin' McDonald's snack wrap, and it slapped with a McDonald's Coke.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, let's get the I want to get your opinion on this because you've been around my business and you're now more engulfed in my business. So we're gonna transition it to the green space. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Is that a hot take?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I want to get your underrated, overrated. Okay, okay. Enclosed trailers, underrated or overrated?

SPEAKER_00

Underrated.

SPEAKER_01

100%.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Why are they underrated, Catherine?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Calling me Catherine.

SPEAKER_01

Whoa is that not your name?

SPEAKER_00

No, it is, but you never call me by my name unless I'm in trouble. Um, I feel like they're underrated because like it makes everything so clean.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, so it definitely protects it from the elements.

SPEAKER_00

Not even protects it from the elements, like it makes it look like you're not just like throwing stuff in.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but let's before you do that, what about taking my ex you know how everything has a place, everything has a rack. It's a mobile office. But picture that on an open trailer. I mean, it's just beautiful. Trimmers are still no. Still no.

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. But why are they underrated? What what is the most underrated thing about it?

SPEAKER_00

I feel like you have a specific answer you want me to give, and I don't know what you what is it?

SPEAKER_01

It's a mobile billboard.

SPEAKER_00

That's true.

SPEAKER_01

You pay for that investment once, and you are branded and on the road.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's so underrated. Alright. Stand-on mowers, overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm not in that space, but I would say that you are gonna say that they're underrated.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you've heard me talk about both.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So what's their take?

SPEAKER_00

I feel like you love the flexibility of a stand-on mower versus. They're so underrated. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So underrated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um I feel like the sit-down mowers, like, don't get me wrong, they're nice and they're they work for what you need them to, but I feel like they almost like encourage you to be a little bit lazier in your work.

SPEAKER_01

100%.

SPEAKER_00

If you're sitting down and then you're like, oh man, now I gotta get up and go blow everything off. And now I've got to keep it.

SPEAKER_01

I go from sitting in my truck to then walking five feet, jumping on the mower, sitting down, cutting for an hour. It's horrible.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'll I'll throw one over to you. Shoot blockers.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, under effing rated. Love me a shoe blocker. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm the striped daddy, right? I don't need a shoe blocker. I can you give me But for the average person. Average person. But you give me a Joe Hagan yard, mulch beds everywhere. I can cut that entire yard, throttle control, no shoe blocker. I won't get an ounce of grass clippings anywhere. But that comes with experience. That's you know, I did the math. They say you're a master at 10,000 hours of whatever you do. So obviously, I have been on a mower. I calculate it's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's probably like over 100,000 hours.

SPEAKER_01

I don't, I I don't think it's that high. Oh, but it's just it's absolutely ridiculous when you and I was just averaging it out and going under because I didn't want to just think, you know, so highly myself. Yeah. Um, I think they're crucial. You should really only have to use them, in my opinion, because you should always be turning away from homes, you should always be turning away from mulch beds. It doesn't matter what stripe pattern you're doing, you can set yourself up for success. Where I have found the shoot blocker most beneficial is stopping extra debris from getting on sidewalks, driveways, and roadways. Um yeah, and it's just it's so pivotal from a safety standpoint as well. You know, you're just you got people coming. One, we're gonna shut the blades down anyways. But like if something like if I see a bicyclist at the last second, boom, I'm hitting that flap. You know, like I'm I'm working, I I'm I'm trying to take in all my surroundings, but like sometimes some han nyak will come flying up, and like if I can just hit that shoe blocker real fast, because even if I stop the blades, it takes time for those hundreds of miles an hour to slow down. I'm still gonna hit you with something. So a shoot blocker is a game changer.

SPEAKER_00

Uh double cutting and triple cutting.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Now, okay, you're you're getting a little passive aggressive with the situation.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm not. I'm just thinking of things that have happened in the past week.

SPEAKER_01

Double, it it de The question is the answer is it depends. It depends on the type of grass you're cutting. Depends on the client.

SPEAKER_00

It depends on I'm more saying it in relation to like the client, the specific clientele that you have, because obviously it's typically more high-end.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So you in my opinion, I feel like people like the look of it too. If you're triple cutting, you're cutting at the wrong height. You clearly are not cutting the lawn at its because you're only supposed to be taking a third off the top, right? So if you have grass that is six inches tall, you're only supposed to be taking off two inches. So, and I get it. You know, you're thinking, well, maybe a four seems too high, but like this time of year, a four is perfect.

SPEAKER_00

And then there's some people in your experience, like that want to pay extra because they want a golf course. Exactly. I was just about to say that. Like, you have people who are like, hey, can you cut it at a two or whatever?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, when people tell me what height to cut at, I can't go fuck yourself because you don't know. You want me to cut it at two inches? No problem. I will show you what two inches looks like.

SPEAKER_00

I remember it was like the first summer that I had been dating you since you were in a season. I think it was the first one that I had experienced, and I distinctly remember this guy told you that he wanted you to cut it at two inches, and you were like, I'm the expert here. Like, I know what your lawn needs to be cut at.

SPEAKER_01

I asked him, Do you want dirt or do you want grass?

SPEAKER_00

Like, I appreciate you telling me, but like, we're good. So that's mainly why I was asking the question.

SPEAKER_01

I wasn't being passive aggressive, just saying like you're gonna have some clients that say, Yeah, I don't care how long it takes you. I don't care if you have to double cut, I don't care what you charge me. I want it to look like Pine Trace golf course. Not a problem. I can make that happen. Just so you're aware, this is the type of grass you have, it's very unhealthy for the lawn. We can slowly train it and we can try and get it. But overall, the type of grass you have here, you're not gonna like the result, but we can try it for a couple weeks. And so then, you know, you'll review it with them and they go, Yeah, it's looking not that great. Yeah. So do you want me to give you my professional opinion and what height it should be cut at?

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah, yeah. And then they go, Yeah, it looks really darn good.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But I've been doing this a while.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And then you just have This is why you hired me. Yeah. And then you just have other grasses that you can get away with cutting it really short. Um In the spring in Michigan, you're going to be double cutting a lot. I don't care how sharp your blades are. I don't care what type of mower you have. I got the biggest and baddest mowers. The best blade sharpener. Decks are scraped. Tight belts, tight pulleys. You still have to double cut every now and then. It's just how it goes in Michigan, at least.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um which is why spring season always like sucks and you're always working late, is because you're doing this for every single time almost. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And you can't get away with, oh, I'll cut it a little higher this week. You're going to be cutting even more next week. And then there's people that'll be like, well, you just got to get it down to three inches and uh you know blow out the clumps and everything. No, it does not make a difference. And I've experimented at great length with this, where I've, you know, something that I'm cutting at a 375 to a four and a quarter, and it's still it grows gangbusters the next week. And then I say, you know what? Fuck it. I'm sending it at 275 or a three. I'm going to blow out the clippings. I'm going to double, if not triple, cut it. Same effing growth pattern the next. It made no difference. Yeah. So I'm just going to cut the lawn at the healthiest stage within reason. And you just got to battle it out. Yeah. It sucks.

SPEAKER_00

Totally.

SPEAKER_01

It's a rough six to eight weeks, but then you're you're through it. And then you we're going to have a resurgence of that type of growth late August, September. You get that spring growth again, but in fall.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I love the challenge. Dog. I think Estee Ovon would say, I cut enough grass, somebody's getting pregnant, dog.

SPEAKER_00

Um oh my gosh. What was the other thing I was gonna ask you? Oh, I know what I was gonna ask you. Um trimming in lieu of cutting.

SPEAKER_01

What does that mean?

SPEAKER_00

Like when you have certain spots that are that your mower can't get to or your mower will be difficult to get to. Or if it's like it's a little bit wet, so I'm gonna use my trimmer instead of the actual mower to do it. Overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_01

That is such a weird question. To rate that on underrated, you you have to do it. You if it's too wet, you have to trim it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, what I was referencing was today, or maybe it was yesterday, in your video on Instagram when you were like, most people wouldn't take the extra six or seven minutes to cut this with a trimmer, they would just leave it for next week because it's gonna rain again or whatever.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But you didn't. You used a trimmer, so that's what I'm asking you. Overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so puzzled how by how this could even be underrated or overrated. You you get you do the job. You you were hired to do the job, and if there is a section, I don't care if it's a tenth of the yard or half of the yard. If you cannot take your mower on and you are forced to trim, you trim it.

SPEAKER_00

Clearly, that was a hot topic. Got Jake all spicy over here.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it's just I I get it. It sucks when it's like soupy and all that, but like do your job, motherfucker. Like, figure it out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Don't just like, so then what do you do? Do you charge the client half? No, you're not gonna charge the client half. Just just suck it up.

SPEAKER_00

Do it. Yeah, and then you probably would want to, I mean, I'm assuming, prepare next week and already know in your head, I'm probably gonna have to do this in again next week in case it's too wet. Like you're already mentally prepared, so you're not shocked every single week and being like, you know, you're running the same route every single week. So yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. Okay. You got any more questions? I'm getting fired up.

SPEAKER_00

I know, you're getting really spicy. You went from I don't really understand the question to getting really spicy at the moment.

SPEAKER_01

Well, just the underrated overrated aspect, that was just so far-fetched, it didn't make sense to like frame it that way.

SPEAKER_00

How dare you?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Do you have any hot topics?

SPEAKER_01

Gator blades versus high lift blades. What do you even think that means?

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea. Why would you expect me to know that? So how would I those are two different things. How do you mark them as overrated or underrated?

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I think gator blades, granted, I'm cutting a lot of this is turning into like a this or that. This is turning you know that video I sent you of film Phil Mickelson talking and he looks like a robot. I can get in the I can get lost in the weeds on this stuff. But gator blades for the grass, I'm cutting uh warm, I'm not cutting any warm season grass, I'm cutting cold season grass. And there's so much Kentucky blue up here. There's there's actually I'm starting to see a little bit of fescue blend, which I'm quite liking the fescue. It's doing very well. Um gator blades, it's a more of a mulching blade. So it has these serrates.

SPEAKER_00

I would assume gator, meaning it's like rigid or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

So towards the top of the blade are gonna be these hard, sharp edges. They do phenomenal for leaf seeds.

SPEAKER_00

Phenomenal.

SPEAKER_01

What are you doing on your phone? What's so important?

SPEAKER_00

I was texting my mom.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, hey, Star Power. Um they do phenomenal during leaf season. You can take instead of if you have a high lift and you're bagging leaves with a high lift, you're gonna see the leaves are gonna be about this big.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'd probably mulch them.

SPEAKER_01

Multism way better. Does a great job. Um, I think for my area, gator blades are a joke. And there's some people that swear by them. I've done both. It's high lift city all day long for this type of grass we're cutting.

SPEAKER_00

Um, mower grips.

SPEAKER_01

All underrated.

SPEAKER_00

The fatigue, because um and I feel like don't get me wrong, like I know they obviously help you with the fatigue of your hands, but like, wouldn't that help you prevent like carpal tunnel? Like the same way that you can get carpal tunnel and like your wrist from typing in a keyboard literally every single time.

SPEAKER_01

Being a hairstylist, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And like I feel like that kind of helps with that too.

SPEAKER_01

It might. I don't know the research behind that, but literally, I mean, you you know my the lower part of my palms, they become mitts at the start of the season. Yeah, you start to see all those blisters, and you're like, what's going on? It's like it's the mower. And I mean, these things are like rock hard now, but the grips not only give you a better responsiveness to your controls, but they truly, it's the weirdest thing to think that you know it's gonna help with your hand fatigue or your wrist fatigue. So underrated. Now, I don't have anything for a zero turn, but they're I I've seen some styles for zero turns, they're so thick to begin with. The sit-downs, I don't know, but again, I've never tried a grip on uh I'd be very curious to see how that is.

SPEAKER_00

Um long sleeve shirts in the summer.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, underrated. Under flipping rated. The amount of times I have told my guys, like, I'm dying here. Yeah, you should have worn the long sleeve. The non-direct sunlight.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

There's a reason why you see these Mexicans wearing hoodies while they're working. Like bandanas around their neck. Yeah. Granted, they love the heat, right? They're from Mexico. But when you can protect every square inch as best as you can, you stay so much cooler.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, totally. Um, let's do some fun ones. Whiskey sour.

SPEAKER_01

It depends on how you make them. Depend personally, I think a whiskey sour is underrated the way I make them. Little whiskey style.

SPEAKER_00

What's the traditional drink that you make with whiskey? Is it a whiskey sour, or is it like a no, you have like a like a coking whiskey or whatever?

SPEAKER_01

No, so if you're Gary Meisner, it's a Manhattan. So that's bourbon, Vermuth. Yep. That's a classic.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Then you've got one of your favorites that you're forgetting.

SPEAKER_00

Jack and Coke.

SPEAKER_01

No, that's disgusting. Uh oh.

SPEAKER_00

How dare you?

SPEAKER_01

No, even more classic. And old fashioned.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. But like you just said about a whiskey sour, it has to be made correctly and old fashioned. Otherwise, it's just nah.

SPEAKER_01

So, guys, I've been experimenting with either a tequila sour or a whiskey sour. I love both. I like the flavor profile right now a lot more of tequila. And I've been experimenting with a little bit of honey in my whiskey or my tequila sour.

SPEAKER_00

Absolute, you haven't been loving tequila. We only have you have been having a whiskey.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because the tequila's gone. We flew.

SPEAKER_00

Sounds like a personal problem. We need to go to Costco.

SPEAKER_01

Flew through that repressado.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's not like we're getting hammered. Like, I might have one while I'm doing billing or something.

SPEAKER_00

On my birthday, I think we each had like two or three drinks with it. And then yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, it never seems to go.

SPEAKER_01

Uh and obviously, you guys, if you're gonna, you know, it's your life. But if you're gonna drink, in my opinion, and it's been Gary Brucca, the best thing you can have is tequila, agave tequila.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's the most natural, and where you get lost in the weeds is adding that sugary crap, you know, your margarita mixes, whatever you're mixing. I mean, that sugar, that's what's killing you and giving you the hangover. So, you know me.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, if I don't want to- I feel like isn't that also what makes you munch is the sugar. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But like, I that's how much I love the flavor profile of tequila. I will just have tequila on the rocks. So good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sometimes you'll just have it with like your sparkling water and just maybe a slight little A flavored sparkling water. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And you you said to me the other, it was so funny the other night, you're like, Do you have a drinking problem? And I was like, No, tequila sounds so good. I was like, babe, it's literally like black coffee. Yeah, I don't even drink coffee for the caffeine. I love the bitterness of my coffee.

SPEAKER_00

The reason why I said that is because when Jake and I first started dating, I would have probably a drink maybe like two, three nights a week.

SPEAKER_01

As a single gal?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you raging alcoholic.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. This what would you drink? This brings me in a jack and coke, typically.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, garbage.

SPEAKER_00

I know. So anyway, um, Jake and I, when we first started dating, and like I would, you know, it'd be maybe like nine, ten o'clock, and I'd like make myself a drink. He'd be like, What kind of a person drinks alone an alcoholic? And so the other night he was making a drink, and that's why I said it. I was like, What are you an alcoholic? Because like he used to tease me all the time about how like alcoholics drink alone. Oh, that's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

I totally forgot about that. Yeah, that's why I said were you drinking a Jack and Coke when I teased you about that? I don't think you were. No, I don't think was it like a little glass of wine or something?

SPEAKER_00

No, it wasn't a glass of wine. It was when we started living together. You kind of had me experiment with tequila a little bit, and I want to say it was like uh tequila and orange juice or something little sunrise? Yeah, something pretty like basic, but so girly. Yeah, so girly, but I loved it, yeah. And I think that was what it was, and that made you make fun of me.

SPEAKER_01

So I remember this kind of, but like oh, I remember it so very and did you come around with like an orange juice and a tequila? And I was like, are you having an adult beverage?

SPEAKER_00

No, okay, so I'm pretty sure how it happened was um you were outside with the dogs, and I was in the house, and you know that kitchen was teeny. I mean, it was a 900 square foot house, so it was very small. And so I was I literally had the freezer door open, and you know, we had the top and bottom one. And um, so I had the freezer door open, and I was making myself a drink, and you just come in and you're like, kind of a freak, kind of an alcoholic drinks alone, and then you explained it to me, and I like started laughing.

SPEAKER_01

But well, I was just butthurt because you didn't offer me something. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like you don't you don't have your drink.

SPEAKER_00

If you're if you and I are gonna have a drink together, yeah, you don't ever take the first sip without either You're very also big on like if you're making yourself a drink, like you should offer me one too.

SPEAKER_01

You should always offer, absolutely. But like I don't you you for months you would take that first sip without cheersing me or anything, and I'm just like Yeah, you butch like that. You you have to you you don't ever take a sip.

SPEAKER_00

Clearly did not have proper drinking etiquette at that time.

SPEAKER_01

Oh gosh. Like, yeah, you were just a wild card.

SPEAKER_00

Whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so what's are we still doing overrated, underrated?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, what do you got?

SPEAKER_00

No, you go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have anything on top of my head, so you go.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. An Apple Watch.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, for me, I'm gonna say underrated because I can quickly look down. I don't have to pull out my phone. Granted, now with my AirPods, it just tells me, see, baby, texted you, and then it reads it, right? But when I had ISO tunes, it was so underrated because if you needed me or something, like I can just see that you're like saying, you know, oh, here's the work drama. And I'm like, okay, I can get to that in like three minutes. I don't need to respond to that right away. Versus, babe, we've got a situation. Okay, I'm shutting down the mower and I'm calling you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So it depends, but I would say overall, so overrated. So overrated.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I feel like a lot of people use them for like the fitness tracking, and I really don't feel like they're not accurate.

SPEAKER_01

They're not accurate at all.

SPEAKER_00

Like there will be days when I'm like going ham in the morning um at the house doing a bunch of different stuff, and you know, that probably hundreds of steps. And I look at the watch and it's like, oh yeah, I burned 13 calories. I'm like, yeah, okay, there's no way that that was accurate. Yeah, I know. Just not looking to spend any more money.

SPEAKER_01

The subscription thing is so stupid.

SPEAKER_00

Everything is subscribed.

SPEAKER_01

Everything is submarine.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, another hot topic. Clearly, we think this the whole subscription culture is overrated.

SPEAKER_01

So overrated.

SPEAKER_00

Everything is a good one. Let me just buy this shit.

SPEAKER_01

Let me just buy it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

This whoop, let me buy it. Uh-huh. Why do I have to pay 250 bucks a year for this technology? Great. It's amazing technology. But 250 a year until I either get rid of it. And then I gotta, if I want to like stop my subscription, I gotta return this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, it's like everything. It's like even with our frickin' uh baby camera in Zeke's room, it's the same thing. It's like, yeah, you can get the free version where you can only, you know, see him on the camera, and that's it.

SPEAKER_01

No sending motion and sound alert, and that's it. But you can't track any data, right? All this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it won't tell you like when you took him out of his crib, it won't tell you how many night wakings he had, like how much time he was actually asleep versus the time he was awake. And then, of course, you're paying for a subscription of that too. And then you buy the actual unit.

SPEAKER_01

That beautiful camera from Joe Hagan, right? You know, he got us that. He probably spent a pretty penny on this camera. But the fact is, and I know that this would piss off Joe too, right? Let's say the camera's $300.

SPEAKER_00

It was.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, look at that. I see, I could be on the prices, right?

SPEAKER_00

Um, we know, trust me.

SPEAKER_01

But why not just have a the $300 camera or give me the option of a six? I would even pay $800. Because one, it is for our son, right? Obviously, you have to have certain boundaries of spending, but like $800 one time, I have all that data.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But it's also like it's literally built into everything. Like, for instance, too, when Zeke was not wanting to sleep in his crib, we were looking into getting the snoo, which is like the mobile bassinet that moves, and it's supposed to mimic like the baby being racked, like their amazing technology.

SPEAKER_01

Um but also too, like to wouldn't it like be like he's in the womb? Yes, yeah, but they're like twelve hundred dollars a pop.

SPEAKER_00

Then not only do you have to buy the unit, then you're paying for the subscription for the software for the unit. So basically, if you just buy the unit, you can't do shit with it because good luck. Yeah, it doesn't have any of the software that you need that you can control from your phone. Which is like, oh my god, like come on.

SPEAKER_01

It's just like what we were talking about with this beautiful grill that we bought, right? You know, blessed to have a brand new grill that is gonna outlive us. You know, we've we spent the money on a Weber.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You're telling me it costs you guys 14 cents to make a grill cover. Yeah, and I'm spending over a grand on a grill, and you're not gonna give me a grill cover. What are you though?

SPEAKER_00

It's the concept of when I bought my wedding dress for our wedding, it didn't come with a $15 garment pack. I had to buy that separate. Yeah. Like, what the hell? Yeah, it's just stupid.

SPEAKER_01

Like the little add-ons.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like just a little bit holding.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so we cut your grass for this much. Oh, you want the edging done? It's gonna be another six bucks. Oh, you you want trimming? Oh, yeah, it's gonna be another 12. Okay. Um, how about the sidewalk cracks? You're looking for that weekly, monthly, because like I got different, like just build it all into the price and do a great frickin' job.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Um, biweekly cutting.

SPEAKER_01

Ass.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Now, you know, we have a couple clients that are in certain areas, irrigation, fertilization, not important. That's totally fine. In the spring, there's no shot you're gonna buy weekly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was just about to say, I feel like it dictates like the time of the year as well, if that's even which like you're not gonna go to the lawn and just cut it just to cut it. Like, if you go there and you see that it's not long enough, you're gonna skip over it.

SPEAKER_01

Like But like last week we had a couple clients that are even some of them are irrigated and they just they weren't caught up. And it's like the guys will text me, bro. I know we're premium, but like it did not grow. Then please skip them.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_01

We're not going to hurt the health of their lawn to make 60 bucks on a cut. Yeah. No, I'm not doing that. Absolutely not. Thank you for letting me know. Is it green? It is green. Okay, but it's short. Yeah, it's just it's right at that threshold where like you'll barely even tell we did it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and that's crazy hot week didn't help that we had last week. So I mean it makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um and I get it.

SPEAKER_01

Skipping over it's like, you know, you plan on, it's just like a normal employee. You are planning on working 40 hours this week, and I want a paycheck for 40 hours. Well, your employer says, Yeah, well, we're just gonna do 30 or 31 this week. No, uh I want to do 40, so it sucks for us because I have revenue that I want to hit, but at the same time, it's not worth hurting someone's lawn. It's not.

SPEAKER_00

No, I agree. And I feel like usually when people ask for bi weekly, it's kind of something like that where they don't want to hurt the lawn, and then when we explain to them Or whether it's you or I or talking to them and we're like, we would never cut it if it's going to impede the health of your lawn. Like we're not just gonna cut it just to cut it. And we do understand that in the hot ment hot months, typically July and August, like there will be times when there isn't a need to cut it. So we're not even gonna charge you a trip fee for that.

SPEAKER_01

That's a very, very low percentage of our business.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Um because we enjoy maintaining extremely beautiful and high-end properties.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like the people who are asking that are the people who have probably been burned before by a previous service provider that that's happened with, and they're like, Yeah, no, like I don't want that to happen again. But then you have to give them the caveat of like, okay, you're asking for bi-weekly permanently, but what you're asking is that we may have to do a double cut to get your lawn up from two weeks of growth.

SPEAKER_01

So it's kind of like balancing both yeah, you you want the weekly cut look, but at the bi-weekly exactly no, yeah. I'm I'm not interested in taking on your lawn thing.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I thought about the other day that I meant to tell you, but I was like, what if we had a crew specifically dedicated for the bi-weekly cuts? Would that be stupid?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, just go send out Chuck in a truck. Go find someone that can barely pay their bills and have them do it for you.

SPEAKER_00

Like you'll obviously typically every year you have like a couple newcomers that are kind of like learning. And like a slower route of like the bi-weekly people like would obviously help them learn, and they're you know, they're it wouldn't keep them as busy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that that they're really only learning overgrown conditions.

SPEAKER_00

That's true. They're not I didn't even think about that.

SPEAKER_01

They're not learning what a a normal condition.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what typical maintenance looks like.

SPEAKER_01

I get where your head's at. Yeah. But no.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. So it wouldn't like be like a crew with training wheels that are trying to figure out training.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Training wheels, lawn care. That's hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

Um, oh my god. What was I gonna say? What are those shoes that I got you?

SPEAKER_01

The canes?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Overrated or underrated?

SPEAKER_01

Under. They're very comfortable, extremely comfortable. So easy to keep clean.

SPEAKER_00

Um for anybody who doesn't know, those are the shoes that like kind of look like Crocs, but they're like more structured. They actually have a heel, but they have like the whole look on the top, like like Dan Campbell wears them.

SPEAKER_01

Does he really? Danny does?

SPEAKER_00

That's where I got the idea to get them for you.

SPEAKER_01

From Daniel?

SPEAKER_00

On his Instagram. He was going to practice and he had God, you love Dan Campbell. I do love Dan Campbell.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Dan, what a guy.

SPEAKER_00

So fun fact for you guys. And then we'll end the podcast. Um in football season. I don't know why this started or how it happened, but like Jake will be like, Jake and I will look at each other and be like, you think Dan's rocking the short sleeve tonight, or do you think he's going long sleeve?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I do it because I think you think he's like your like old boyfriend or something. So it's just funny for me.

SPEAKER_00

You think he's wearing glasses or like he's rocking no glasses tonight? Yeah. And so that's kind of how like what my love for him like kind of started. And then our uh title company handled the sale of his house that he bought in Birmingham, which like if you know the story, um It wasn't Birmingham, sweetheart. Bloomfield. Yes. Um, his family bought a house in Bloomfield, and then because of the insane nature of what his job is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because guess what? Um, they're not fans. It's it's not fans. You know what's short for?

SPEAKER_00

What?

SPEAKER_01

Fanatics.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and they are.

SPEAKER_01

And these people are fanatics.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like when he would when they would lose the game, like they would show up to his house because it wasn't in like a gated community, and you know, he didn't have like private security.

SPEAKER_01

Just disgusting.

SPEAKER_00

So they would just go to his house. So it actually made him have to sell the house, I think only a couple months after he was.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they weren't even in there six months, I don't think.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And um, so, anyways, like our title company was involved in that, and then the person who did the closing was a good friend of mine, and she was like, Oh my god, he's such a down-to-earth person. So it just made me love him even more.

SPEAKER_01

He's down-earth, his wife. Oh, she was too. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

She was the one that she was the one that told Pam, like, if you ever want tickets to a game, like just reach out to me, let me know.

SPEAKER_01

There's my cell phone number.

SPEAKER_00

So sweet.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, because she Pam had said, Oh, I've never been to a Lions game.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. She's like, You've never been to Lions and was explaining that she's a single mom, has a 12-year-old daughter who like loves sports, and she was like, Oh, yeah, you should bring her to a game.

SPEAKER_01

Like, this wasn't like oh, you should bring her to this was please contact me when you are ready to get uh, you know, let me know what game works for you.

SPEAKER_00

So nice.

SPEAKER_01

Just a wonderful human being she is. And I love their Starbucks uh victories. Oh my god, love it. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this big old guy is taking this teeny little dog.

SPEAKER_01

His teacup.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What kind of dog is that?

SPEAKER_00

It's a it's a uh Yorkie.

SPEAKER_01

It's hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That is just so funny.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So anyway, that this was a little bit of a different episode, but we wanted to keep the episodes flowing and not get sidetracked. I feel like the hot week is like catching up to us this week. Like I feel like I'm more tired this week than I was last week.

SPEAKER_01

That's exactly what Blake and I said today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's so crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Like, you know, it five straight days of hell. And it's it's been hot, but it hasn't been bad. But you're just uh Blake and I said, Did you recover over the weekend? Blake said, No, I I don't think I did.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't think I did either. You're just beat.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, between both of us being dads and just having stuff we gotta do, like you you as a mom, you know, you put yourself on the back burner.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, totally. And you're always last.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And like I rested was it Sunday so much that I rested? Like I went to bed.

SPEAKER_00

Both days, yeah, both days you did.

SPEAKER_01

And like I literally I collapsed. I just looked at you, so I gotta go lay down.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think like we put Stinky to bed, and normally like we'll hang out there up there for a couple minutes just in c just to like make sure he goes down, and then we come downstairs. And by the time like he was down and I went and looked at you, you were in the bed and you were already asleep.

SPEAKER_01

This was 8 40.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And for reference, this right now we got about 15 minutes to midnight. Like we were just ex at least me. I you were a beast. You went to the gym. Like, good for you. Um, you're an evening girl, anyways. But like, oh my god, I was so tired. Oh my gosh, I'm still yeah, I'm exhausted. Today was just a big mental day. Um, I'm so those days are the worst. Oh my god. My brain hurts.

SPEAKER_00

But um and I feel like as a parent, you just always put yourself last. Like I could be the most tired I've ever been in my entire life. Like, I'm on this new medicine, and um like the first day that you take it, it makes you super tired. And I woke up and I was like the most tired I've ever been in my life. But like, was I able to just lay down and veg on the couch all day like I wanted to? Nope. I had to just keep moving because we have a kid who surely does not stop moving.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, it's pretty wild that parent muscle, but you just you just have to do it. You just go. I don't think there's ever been an instance in either of our parenthood journey besides I think like the first week where I was just like, hey, like you gotta get some sleep. Like, just go ahead and sleep. I got this figured out. Like we were both always on. I don't feel like we really did the whole like oh no, you you do you take a two-hour nap. Like, I feel like we did a very good job of teamwork and not one sleeping, one awake, one sleeping, one awake. I felt like we were kind of always on. Do you agree with that?

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

Really?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I feel like I was never like a napper even before we had him. So I feel like I was never the type of person to be like, hey, I need to just like take like a two-hour nap. Like you more so were taking the like two-hour naps because you really needed it. But I think I was like, I'm just gonna go to bed earlier versus like taking a nap during the day.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I I I I don't really remember taking naps when you were awake and he was awake. I felt like either he was asleep, so then we would both go to sleep. It wasn't like all the responsibility fell on someone else, but maybe I'm just that could be the dad pregnancy brain or whatever, just completely gone.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't remember. I don't think that it was like that, but it could have been. I'm I feel like like I remember times when like I would fall asleep on the couch with him when I was holding him, because obviously he was a contact napper.

SPEAKER_01

And then there were times when you would I remember like being on the couch because he was such a contact sleeper, and you know, he would do decent sleeping on me, but he obviously preferred you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I would look over and you guys would fall asleep, and I would just go navy seal, like, okay, they're asleep, close my eyes, boom, fall asleep. And then if I heard him kind of do his little thing, or like I heard the dogs, and you like then you're you're up and you just do it. But I just to me, I just remember thinking, yep, if they're asleep, then I'll sleep. Um, and then if there's stuff that has to get done in the kitchen or whatever, I'll try and do it as quietly as possible and help. But like if they're sleeping, I want to sleep too because she's gonna need me.

SPEAKER_00

I think what you're more so referencing, like I felt that way in the middle of the night because like there was never a time when you didn't get up with me in the middle of the night when he needed to get up. Whether it was like you were making him a bottle, you were holding him while I had to go change my frickin' diaper, you know, when I was trying to heal after, you know, we had him. Um, but I felt like you were always like, I mean, yeah, we were in two separate bedrooms because I was sleeping with him in the guest room, but like I felt like you were never not up with me. And that's good.

SPEAKER_01

I'm glad you feel that way. That's good. Yeah. Um yeah, it's just it's it just changes you.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. It just I think it's true what your sister told us when like we first like found out that we were having it was like it brings out every single selfish part of you that you have, and it just I feel like crushes it, washes it away by force, pretty much. Because like you don't even have an opportunity to decide if you want to like not be that way. You just have to do it.

SPEAKER_01

You know how you like me home by 6 a.m. if I'm working out?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But now he's been sleeping a lot longer. Um so today, you know, I'm looking at the clock at the gym and it's like 548 or whatever, and I said, you know what? I'm gonna go to 550 or 552 or whatever it was. And then I wanted, you know, do a little detailing on the truck and stuff. And I had that selfish moment where I said, you know what? I kept checking the camera. He's asleep, and he's not even looking like he's gonna wake up. So you're asleep. And I said, you know what? I'm gonna go spoil myself, I'm gonna go get the truck nice and clean, I'm gonna do a little organizing. And I don't think I was home until like 6:30, maybe 640, but I just kept checking my phone.

SPEAKER_00

It was 648. And the reason why I know that is because our ring camera was not charged for like the past like week or something, and I asked Jake to charge it because you know, I just like you know, being on the up and up of things that go on in our house, especially because a lot of the times during the day I'm here alone with Zeke. And Jake likes to leave me messages usually in the morning when he leaves for the gym super early, and so I always like to check it now that it's working, and I remember distinctly being like, oh, got home a little easier.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, somebody got home a little. But again, I just you should have seen me washing the truck and checking my phone.

SPEAKER_00

But I'm glad that you do that because, like you said, he has been sleeping later.

SPEAKER_01

And like if I can be productive and get something done, yeah, that one makes me feel good, but also Yeah, you deserve your time too. Yeah, um, it's it's a big win-win because I get the mental clarity of seeing something extremely clean. It just when stuff is clean, it runs better, you know, blah blah blah. But like you're sleeping, he's sleeping. What am I gonna do? Twiddle my thumbs or go on Instagram? Like that's such a waste of time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like he like has been sleeping a lot later. Like he was waking up at like 6 15, 6 30. Yep, exactly. And like you would take that shift because I was with him all day long. Yep, and now I feel like he's sleeping until pretty much like 7 30, 8 o'clock almost.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like there's some days I leave for work and he hasn't woken up. Yep, and like I'm not gonna wake him up. He's sleeping, he's growing. Let the boy sleep. And I feel bad that like you have to wake up and handle him first thing, because we've talked about how like that's something that you you want help with. You don't want to be awoken to a baby after taking care of the baby all day long, completely fair. Well, totally justify it.

SPEAKER_00

For me, it's like I I don't want to be have to be on from the moment I open my eyes, and I think you can relate to that too. 100% like as soon as you wake up in the morning, somebody needs something, you know. So it's just kind of whether it's like you have to do a quote for somebody or whatever the case may be, it's like you're always on because you always need something. Somebody always needs something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I just like I didn't wanna, I didn't want to have that because one, like, I don't even have my contacts in yet.

SPEAKER_01

And like this morning, I went you are blind as a bat without those things.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. This morning I went and grabbed him and immediately took him out of his crib, and I could tell he pooped, and I was like, oh no. So like my eyes aren't even open. Barely.

SPEAKER_01

But that nose is working.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. And had to change poopy diaper. So, anyways, I'm getting sidetracked, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you want to do a half hour or at an hour.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

That's funny. Alright, let's go to bed. We gotta get our beauty sleep.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, you don't need it, I do.

SPEAKER_00

We gotta keep Mossie away from Joel.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they don't need to know anything about that. Alright, gang. Oh. That yarn was contagious, babe. We will see you on the next one. What was this number 11? Yep. Whew! Thanks for tuning in, gang. Again, my wife.
