In this introduction to the podcast, I share what the episodes are going to looking like, who this podcast is for, the podcasts that have inspired me, and why you should listen to my show—even if I’m still “trying to make it”! (I promise, there’s lots of reasons!)

Hello writers! So, before we got into the real episodes, I just wanted to make an introduction to let you know a little bit about the podcast. So, what it's about, what you can expect from it, who is it for, and basically why you should listen to it. The episodes are going to be built in two parts. The first part will be the writing update from the previous week, where I will tell you what I did writing related to get me closer to my dream, which is to make a full-time living as a fiction writer. This could be the project I'm working on right now, uh, what I'm doing on this project, if I've made any submission to fiction magazine, or if I had any sort of news, good or bad. Uh basically anything that happened during the wing the week concerning writing. This ball will vary in length depending on what happened during the week. So if I'm still just line editing my book, I will just tell you that I'm line editing my book and we will move on fast. But um if there was like some big news and I want to spend more time on it, uh it could be a larger part. The second part of the episodes are going to be the topic part. It's going to be where I will talk about any subject related to writing. So it could be the things that have helped me before uh in the beginning of my writing journey, or something that I just learned during that week and that really made a difference. The topics I'll be covering in that part of the episodes are going to be mindset, writing life, craft, and anything publishing related. The format of this podcast was inspired by podcasts that I love so much. I've been listening to writing podcasts for so long, and I've been loving them for so long, and I've been wanting to start my own for some times. Um, but at first I thought that the only way to do a podcast of any sort was to do interviews, and that didn't really connect with me. Um, but all of that changed when I listened to El Penelope's podcast, which is called My Imaginary Friends. The format of L Penelope's podcast is really close to the one I just described, uh, except there is a part where she talks about her week's best thing, which can be not writing related. I really loved this podcast, and it was the first time I said, okay, I can do a solo show and it can be really good. And so this podcast right now would not exist without El Penelope's, so I really want to thank her if she ever listens to this. And I knew I wanted to make an update part in my podcast because those are my favorite parts in two of my favorite uh writing podcasts, which are Rachel Aaron's How Do You Write, and Joanna Penn's The Creative Pen podcast. But what really made this podcast click for me was when I found a vibe I wanted to go for. There are two podcasts that really inspired me for this, and the first is the Unpublished podcast by Amy McKnee and James Weinstock. I like how they are having a conversation, a deep conversation about a subject related to writing, and how they always have this positive vibe to it, or at least this desire to make the writer feel good after listening to the podcast. So that's really the vibe I'm looking for in this podcast that I hope you will be listening to. The other podcast that really made it click for me in terms of what I wanted the vibe of this podcast to be, um, is the Manifestation Babe Podcast by Katherine Zenkina. So the way she talks about her subject, basing it on her own life, what she's learned, what she's experienced, but also basing it on all the research that she's done on the subject, is really something that I enjoyed and that I hope I can bring to this podcast about writing. She also always has these actionable staff at the end of our podcast to really make sure that you're using and integrating the notion she's just telling you about. And that's the sort of thing I wish I will be able to do with this podcast. And quickly, I just wanted to do a little shout out to Jay Thorne. Um, he has inspired me a lot to do this podcast, he has a lot of podcasts. I've listened to all of them, many of them, maybe not his very first one. Uh, and he's passionate about it. And I just wanted to mention him here and thank him for the inspiration and all the knowledge that he's shared. In terms of technicalities about this podcast, I don't really know how long the episodes are going to be. I think it will vary a lot depending on the update or the topic I will be talking about. Um, so I'm not going to limit myself in terms of time. I'm just going to give myself the liberty of going as long or as short as I want to be, depending on how inspired I am on the moment. I want this podcast to be recorded and delivered to you every week. Uh, but I'm not going to do any batch recording because I really want this to be something that you can follow along with me as the week goes. So, you know, doing batch recording would sort of go against that. Um, so I might be taking some weeks off with or without letting you know in advance. But my intention is really to get an episode out to you every week. I'm committed to myself to do at least 50 episodes. Uh, so you can expect that. After that, I'll see if I'm still having fun and enjoying the podcast and the format and everything. But you can be sure that you're going to have 50 episodes. And now for as who this podcast is for, I'm intending this podcast to be for writers who are starting out on their journey. Um, so writers who have maybe just started writing their first book, or they tr they've tried many times to write their first draft and they never finished it. Um, maybe they have done a first draft or two, but they haven't managed to completely finish a book that they are proud of and that they want to publish however they wish. This podcast could also be for you if you are not really happy with where you are in your writing journey, no matter what stage you are, if you are frustrated and you feel like there are things that are working out the way you wish they were. And you know, I'm also guessing that no matter what's going on in your writing life, uh, this podcast could be interesting to you if the topic I'm talking about is interesting to you. So, you know, all writers are welcome, of course. Um, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm really targeting this at writers who are more starting out. Also know that I plan on going the traditional route when it comes to publishing. Uh, I plan on doing an episode about how I came to this decision and why in the future. And maybe at some point I could look into Andy publishing uh if it feels like the right move for me at some point. But for now I'll be focusing on getting an agent in a book deal. But if and if traditional publishing is not something you're looking into, I still think it could be valuable to you to listen to this episode. Um, even if I'm not going to talk about anything and die publish related. Um, I know that personally I still listen to many podcasts that are done by and the published author. Um, because I think it's important to know all of our publishing options so that we can take the best decision when it comes to each book that we write. And also, I think it's important to know it from people who are actually doing it, so not having our view of a publishing route being filtered through the eyes of someone who hasn't experienced it. Um, so if your goal is to be an indie published author, or you are an indie published author, but you like to see what it looks like to be pursuing a traditional deal, I think it could be interesting to you to listen to this podcast no matter what. But if you're really looking for information about indie publishing, this is maybe not the place for you, at least not right now. Um, but you know, if it changes and if in the future I decide to go hybrid, um then I will transition and maybe you'll have this information. But for now, it's going to be um, when it comes to publishing, it's going to be the traditional Ruth. So maybe despite all of this, you're asking yourself, why should I listen to a girl who's still trying to make it, who hasn't published anything yet except one short story, and who hasn't made a penny with her writing, and who from like the outside could seem like pretty much a failure? Like, I know that it can look like this from the outside. Uh, but really, I think this podcast could be really, really valuable to you for the reason uh being that you know I know what it's like to be starting in this journey, and I've made a lot of progress in my writing journey to come to a point where I'm feeling good, I have a process in place, and I feel really like I'm on the right track. And I just want to share with you the knowledge that I've gained to get to that place, but also I want to take you along on the ride from this moment on so that if you are exactly at the same place as I am, we can just move forward together and make together our dreams come true. Um so that I can share with you what I learned along the way, and so that you can see that you're not alone. Uh, because this is such a lonely pursuit. It could be, it should not be. And now it's not for me. I have lots of writer friends that I love so much, but for so long it has been such a lonely pursuit. And I want this podcast for you to be like, okay, I'm not alone pursuing this. There's someone else who's there and who's doing it. And I think this could be of a big inspiration to you. At least I know that personally, when I follow people on Instagram who are at the same place as I am, querying H and finishing their book, I know I get inspired from seeing them pursue the same goal. Um, and also I've been writing for 15 years now, seven of those years. I've been really writing really, really seriously. I've been reading so many craft books, I've listened to so many writing podcasts, podcasts about writing and crafting the business, uh, about publishing, and I've been writing so, so much throughout those those years. Uh, I've submitted my my my fiction to many magazines and I've piled up so many rejection letters. In fact, the first episode that I'm the first official episode of this podcast is going to be um my journey so far. So you will see like everything that I've gone through to get to where I am today. So I really think I've picked up the few things along the way that could be valuable to someone else. Um and I know I'm going to keep on learning and keep on picking up stuff as I go, and I want to share that with as many people as I can because I know how it can help you. Because I've been there, I've listened to a podcast episode where one author shared that one tip who changed everything and who made like writing so much more easier for me. Uh, and I want to do that to you too. And I think you will enjoy like my positivity and the way I will be willing to be vulnerable with you uh about what I'm going through on this journey. Um, but always like I'm this person who always goes back to the bright side, and I think sometimes we need that when it's more difficult because this journey is not always easy, like it comes with some struggles, and I think it could be inspiring to just know that despite the struggle, you can keep on going and you can keep on having fun because at the end, like I just love writing and I loved talking about writing, and I just want to use this beautiful opportunity to talk about writing to people who are actually interested in listening to what I have to say. Um so I hope that by listening to me every week, relating what I'm doing, what I'm working on, uh to make my dream come true. I hope that as you see me taking those steps towards making my writing dream come true, it will inspire you and motivate you to do the same. Um, because you know, my biggest, biggest dream is that every writer manages to make their writing dreams come true, no matter what those dreams are. Uh, so if your dream is to become a full-time writer like me, I wish that you could do that too, that we could do that together. It would be so awesome. And if your dream is to publish a book and you don't want to make a career out of it, but you would like to see your name on a cover, I want you to do that too, no matter the way, the route you decide to do that. Um, and if you like your day job and you like writing, but you don't really want to make anything out of it, like you don't wish to publish or anything, but you just want to have fun doing it. And sometimes you're losing the fun out of this hobby that you enjoy so much. I hope I can help you to find back that joy. Um, so that's what I wish to do with this podcast. I really want us to all make our writing dreams come true together. Um, so I really hope that with all of this, I've managed to convince you to give a listen. I hope you will be there with me every week, and I can't wait to connect with you all. So, thank you for listening to this intro trailer. If it feels like a podcast you wish to listen to, um, you can go and listen to the episodes that are that are already available, or you can uh subscribe to this podcast to get all of the future episodes right into your podcatcher. So thank you all and have a lovely day.
