Korinna and Kate are back and this week things get literary, jazzy and just a little bit weird.

Kate has been reading Praise by Sara Cate and she is hooked. We get into it.

Then Kate ticks something off her bucket list with her first ever visit to Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London. Worth the wait? Absolutely.

But not everything this week was quite so glamorous. Kate had an unpleasant encounter with a pervert in B&Q, which reminded Korinna of her own run in with a foot fetish guy in Glasgow years ago. Just a normal week then!

Korinna has also been reading How to Build a Style Icon by Law Roach, the legendary celebrity stylist, and she has thoughts.

We also chat about the new Marks and Spencer store in London and whether it lives up to the hype.

And we're never ready in five minutes. Never ever ready in five minutes. So when we were setting up this podcast, we haven't done this for a few weeks now. We were talking about what we're going to talk about. And then Kate said, Oh my gosh, before we start recording, I've got to tell you about this absolute obnoxious asshole that I that I met this week. And I said, Hold on, Kate, let's press record now.

So come on, Kate, tell me about this obnoxious asshole that you met this week. Spill the tea on the arsehole.

Well, I was in BQ, wandering around, minding my own business. And this chap, as I walked out, looked at me. Older chap, I would say late 60s, 70, maybe 70. Anyhow, I was um looking at the sprays that you spray your plants with. You know, you can put like, I don't know, weed um killer in it to spray your driveway with, you know, big right, or that, or to make it grow more as well. Yeah, or whatever. Yeah, yeah. The fancy sprays, yeah, five-litre spray. Yeah. And I was standing there looking at it. He stood next to me and he goes to me, um, oh, they're really good, they are. Are they? And he said, Yeah, really good, he said. But they'd be really good for you to do, he said, because they like a slow spray and a woman's touch. Right. What? Okay. And I was like, right, that went over my head slightly, and I was like, right, okay. But yeah, okay. Yeah, and um he said I'd get the five-litre one. Absolutely fine.

Yeah, and so then he then sparked up this conversation with me, and he was talking about his work. I think he worked in the city, he obviously earned a lot of money, done a lot of vesting, um, and he had like a golf jacket on with the local golf club thing on it. And I said, Oh, you know, you're a member of the local club club. You said, Did you steal that? No. And he goes, Yes, yes, yes, yes. And he goes, Do you play golf? And I said to him, Um, once not many, had a couple of lessons, and he goes, Yes, he said, my wife, he said, goes to the golf course. He said, My golf course, he said, I spent a shed load of uh um money on her having lessons. He said, and the um guy that took the lessons said to me, She might be pretty and she might be a good wife, but I would save your money because she's shite at golf and uh it's not worth investing any money in her over it. So talking about her like she's a horse, actually.

Yeah, completely or a dog at Crufts, yeah, ever put down.

And then he went on about these Thai women and how amazing they are and how perfect they are and how good they are at golf. So we went on to that, and then he said to me, because all of us, all of us men are pervs anyhow, just some are more pervy than others, and then went on to talk about Tiger Woods and all the things that apparently he's done um that he knew about. And by this time I was feeling pretty uncomfortable. We we'd covered stroking my spray to tie women to high's wife, you know, look good on his arm, but was shit at golf. Um then we went on to how all men are perverts. Um he speaks for all men.

You say I don't know about that, but you definitely are.

Yeah, some more than others. Then started to talk to me about which I can't say, but some story about Tiger Woods in the back of a car with a woman, and he was making it more and more sort of perverted. Did he have a hard-on?

I don't think he was trying to shock me.

Did you notice his trousers? Did he have a bone? Sorry, apologies to everybody. But I don't know if he's getting off on his own story.

Yeah, I think he was trying to shock me, and he was like weirdo. And every time I wasn't really in shocked, we we moved up a level. Do you know what I mean? And and do you know what? He was really well spoken, not that that makes any difference. Really well turned out, and I just thought, my goodness me. He was the most, he was just arrogant, he just talked about himself, about all the places he'd been, how much money he had. Imagine, imagine if you couldn't get away from him.

Oh well, well, yeah. I mean, I was finding it really difficult. So I mean, he made the conversation come to an end in the end. I don't know if he just thought I ain't getting anywhere with the case. Probably because he came in his pants. Sorry. Oh donor. Sorry. I just thought it's being cute. Do you know what I mean? Then I am worried about walking back from the train station late at night in the dark. I don't really gotta be worried about walking around being cute on her.

What a weird have we established what age certificate? If there's anyone who got their toddlers in the car, I'm sorry. Have we ever established what kind of a show this is? What a weirdo. Do you know there's so many weird men around that I remember being in Glasgow years ago, right? I was in Glasgow shoe shop, shoe S-C-H-U? Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're a big one in Glasgow, like 20 years ago. And I was looking at some shoes, and the the there was a gentleman in there who worked in there, and he said, They look really great. I like the way they they meet your arch. They are like the heel height on you, it's really fantastic. And then they were all on the walls. We picked another one up. I said, Try this. I'd really like to see this one on you. And I put it on. He said, I love the little platform, the point to the front, it fits your foot really well. And he was down and was really looking at the shape of my foot and the heel height and how flattering on the ankle and everything else. And he said, Now here's a shoe I'd love you to try. Went to like the other end of the store, grabbed a shoe, said, put that one on. I put it on. We're both looking in the mirror and he was giving me the full analysis. And then he just walked out of the store and he didn't work in there. He didn't work in there. He just walked out. And I thought, that's rude. Is he gone on his lunch bank without telling me? And then I went over to a member of staff and said about this guy and described him. And she said, Oh, I don't know who you're talking about. There's no one here that there's no one here that looks in that looks like that. And I thought, he was a total footperv. In fact, he's your number one customer on OnlyFans because they're all about feet on OnlyFans, aren't they? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you can put someone was telling me about OnlyFans, the feet thing, because I was saying, look, there's so much money in that. I really should get a good pedicure and get my feet on OnlyFans. Get a good peddy. And they were saying, you know, it doesn't even matter. And you get you get more views for doing things like if you've got a big arch, you get more views, which is more money. A big arch. And then if you can spread spread more, well, I've got long toes.

Yeah, yeah. Anyway, moving on from the perverts, I was trying to remember. Every week I think we could pull out a pervert story because we've all got one. Oh my god. We've got more than one.

When I was younger in my twenties and in my 30s, I if you put me in a room full of at that time 50-year-old men when I was in my twenties, I was like a they made a bee like a pop. Honey pot. No, not a honeypot.

Yeah, I think I my boss all used to always say to me, You're too nice. You used to smile, you smile at people when you just shouldn't. And and I've learnt from that as goes on. He said to me, you know, you look too friendly, which you're really not that friendly.

Yeah, but when you're 20, even don't you if I'm you know, I'm a 55-year-old woman now, and if I see a 20-year-old lad sort of smiling at me, I almost think he's sort of smiling at me in a sort of pitiful way. If I was like when I was young, you know, if I saw a cat like a lad smiling at me now, like really smile at me, dancing or whatever, I'd think he was just thinking, Oh, she looks like my mum. Like I wouldn't actually think up.

No. But anyway, but that's but because Leo DiCaprio, if everyone talks about age gaps, and it always goes back to Leo DiCaprio because I think I needed to fact check this, it's not necessarily true, but I think he stayed with his recent girlfriend, didn't he, for quite a long time. And I did see, but it could be complete fake news, but I did see that he's sort of I think broken up with her and he's got a new girlfriend. But that could be nonsense. But they were saying it's gone a bit too far now.

Oh I think I've read that he said that he wouldn't date anybody over 35 or something like that, I think it was. Yeah.

I mean, you sort of get to the point where they're they're not like 18, they're 25 and they're grown women, but he's sort of getting older and older and older. But then you know, I love I like um Joanne McNally, I like my therapist goes to me, Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams, and they talked about him a couple of years ago. And Joanne, she's a comedian, I love her. She was just saying it doesn't really matter what anyone else can do because he is Leo DiCaprio. She's like, I don't care.

She is very funny. She said, if I had a 22-year-old daughter, I'd be pushing her Leo's way. I'd like be pushing her in front of Leo. Go and take Leo. He's got a yacht. You know, he's like, you know, he's got one of the most successful actors in the world.

He's not comparable to like John, who lives next door. And I think that is kind of true. He is Leo DiCaprio. Doesn't make it alright if he's doing anything illegal, but he's not, they're all grown women, they're all like 25, but he's just so much older. But anyway, I think there's many men would say good luck to you, I guess.

Yeah, what about um what have you thought about Burnham's wife? Um what her dress and she got slagged off. Yes, that was terrible. All over the thingy, it was appalling, wasn't it? And was it was it a woman that wrote about it in the Daily Mail? Yeah, right.

I think well, everybody started jumped onto it because I saw that really briefly. I saw one photograph on and I think it was on socials, and it was uh someone resharing the headline and saying the story, because everything's about what's your line, like what's your story. And the story of that was that she was wearing a Victoria Beckham 950 pound dress or something, which was like being a bit moon about that. And I just thought, and it's is so in in the comments, I don't get involved in this kind of stuff, but I did pop in the comments very politely. I put, you know, why I think that she's wearing a British designer and it's a big day, no one would expect her to wear Primark to enter number 10. I mean, I think that's true. Who you wouldn't yeah, it's a and it's a great, it's a big designer, and she's a British designer, so I thought it was quite thoughtful. I didn't realize, and that's I think I had a train to catch. I didn't realise everybody went for her and what her body looked like. And then after the people had said about, and there were some people saying it didn't suit her, she should get a stylist and everything else, which was some of the people were saying about it around me. So I said, right, I'll have another look at this. And I looked at it again and I thought, I'm sorry, I do like her in that dress. No, I think. I think she looks great in that I think she looks great in that dress. I thought I said, look, the the light came from above and it sort of I the light picked up her tummy kind of, and I think that might have been something that was blown out of all proportion. I think I thought she looked, I thought she looked bloody great in that dress. I thought she looks like she's not living her husband's life, basically. She's not his arm candy. I thought she looked like a busy professional woman, which I think she's exactly.

She comes from, I think she's a Cambridge graduate, yeah, she's got her own career. I think she speaks four different languages. Yeah. She's had cancer and had a massectomy, I think. She's got three kids, yeah. And then she's brought up herself. And I just think to myself, oh my god, there's this thing that we should all be really skinny, really toned, and just because her husband now has been thrown into you know the limelight, that she should all of a sudden be down the gym, whatever. I thought she looked really cool. I thought she looked sort of above fashion. Yeah, so did I. I thought I love fashion.

I thought she'd be fine. I freaking love fashion, but I thought she looked like uh sort of I don't have to dress for anyone's approval. I don't know. I I think I I love this dress. I thought she looked great in it. She gripped her hair back. I thought she looked cool, actually. I thought she looked cool, and almost like she was like, Fucking hell, Andy. Have I really got to come with you this morning? I'm quite busy, you know. I actually thought it came across a bit like that, and I thought I really like this woman. Yeah I I do. I thought she looked great. So I that sort of like but there was a real backlash against what she looked like. Also, I don't really like she's not running the country. He is, he's got a job to do.

I thought if he was on the front steps with this big paunched stomach, like Boris, I'd just say Boris and his buttons hair. Yeah, and his buttons are all where we couldn't do his shirt up. Would there be a backlash over how fat he was? Or how probably maybe we didn't.

Oh, didn't we? Okay. But do you know what I mean? I just think I don't think it's as much. I think men can get away with far more than than a than a woman.

I thought she looked fab. I thought it was a great dress on her. That real she's got a real that lovely body that I'm like the opposite. You always want your opposite. She's got a real Nigella Lorcean, proper female body, like hips or waist, which I'm just like a bloody ironing board. And I love those kind of bodies. And I thought she looked great. I love the colour, I love the V-neck. I thought she looked great. I loved her hair, it was just sort of gripped up. I thought she looked actually just professional and a bit bit. I honestly thought it was a bit like shit, Andy, I'm too busy for this. I've only or like he'd said to her, I don't know her name actually. What's her name? No, I don't know. Like he'd like to say her name's Sarah, like Sarah, can you come to number 10 with me this afternoon at four o'clock? She's like, I've got a meeting at four o'clock. Some of the times that you are very busy in your life, like I've done a few things that are like quite a big deal, like going on TV or going on um this morning, and you'd think you would prep for a long time for that. I had no time to prep for that. Twice I went on there. One I'd been mugged two days before and had my phone stolen and I had loads of work in there. I was trying to get that back. Um, the other time, my I was having big issues with my daughter at the time, like huge issues. And um, I remember the night before thinking, I don't know what I'm gonna wear to go on telly tomorrow. It was like 2am, and I thought, just wear that's my favourite suit. It's just my favourite suit, put that on, and it was annoying because it didn't have pockets, you need somewhere to put your hands. But anyway, my point is you wouldn't believe you go on TV and not think, Oh my god, you know, I know women that obsess more about what they're wearing to go to the pub on a Saturday night than what I thought about going on that TV show because my life at the time was too great. There was too much going on in my life for that, and I thought she looked great. I did, but they women should stop coming for women for stuff like that.

Oh gosh, yeah, definitely. I think that I what I read, there was a lot of people that were saying that, you know, that I don't know what paper, there was a paper that put it in, and there was a big backlash about the fact that and I think it was a woman that actually wrote it, you know, about how awful it was.

Everyone talks about men being misogynistic and everything else, which they are, can be, not all men, but some men. But women, I think I've been treated far worse by women in the past than I have by men. So do I. Yeah. Anyway, look, this is what we're going to ask you about. Right. You went to Ronnie Scott's, I've never been. What was it like? Because you it was a big it was a big birthday, wasn't it?

Uh well, oh yeah, it was a big birthday. Yeah, I was 55, same as you. Yeah, it's a big birthday though, isn't it? Yeah, I think it is a big birthday. Well, it wasn't booked for that though, was it?

No, I don't think it was. Well, was it not a birthday thing? No, no. No, I met my brother and his um wife, and we bought the tickets ages ago, and yeah, the four of us all went down together. And um well, it was no, I tell you what it was, that's why you're thinking that. It was my uncle's 86th birthday, which we all met up the day before in Stonek Newington. And my aunt Vicki, my mum's sister, died last year, and he wanted everybody to get together for his birthday, but his health is unfortunately not good. And so, anyhow, we all met up, which was lovely, and then um the four of us stayed overnight in a hotel in London, and then we spent the day in London and then went to Money Scotch. Yeah, I saw what's it like in there? It's lovely, yes.

I didn't realise they've they've done upstairs up, so I haven't been up there. Um, we were downstairs, my brother goes no end and Sam, they are always there, so they know it really well.

Um have they been going there for years? Did they go there when Princess Diana was there? I don't she used to go in there apparently, didn't she, in a wig? Did she? Apparently, yeah. I mean, I don't we read so much shit, but apparently she did. She we used to go in a wig to Ronnie Scott's, she loved it. I think I'd recognise Princess Diana. If she was in there with a wonky wig, I would still she was tall, stunning, yeah, she's a very like distinct lady, and even when she talks, she was the most portious person as far, wasn't she?

Yeah, yeah, with a wonky brown wig. He's been going for years. I mean, he he lived in London, they're not in London now, but he lived in London for years. But they have like boot like so you sit in like lines, like boobs of lines of like four, I think about four. You might be able to get five in, and it's like on tiered slightly with like a red bit in the middle. So you can also and then you can all yeah, yeah, very much you can't use your phones when you're in there, quite strict. No phones, no talking, one of music's on, frowned about, and then they come up and they serve you. You can have dinner on there as well, and they come up and down the steps, slightly tiered, very small, very, very small.

And the little booths, are they like half moony or square booths?

No, they're like they're like they're just they're like in a row, so they're sort of like four, four, and then there's staircases up either side, so they can come and take your order either side, and then they go down, and then there's a round bit in the middle that you can sit at as well.

Yeah, it was nice, and you can see you get different people playing all the time and stuff because it's so iconic. But did it feel like sort of touristy, or did it still feel didn't it?

No, not at all, no, really, no. I would say majority of people because you can be a member, and I would say the majority of people there were members that were well into their music, jazz fans, yeah, yeah, definitely. Do you remember?

Do you remember Sex in the City when she went out with the jazz guy? Yeah, yeah, I watched yeah I can't think of jazz without thinking of me.

I watched it again last night. Did you? I watch it all the time when I just watched it with friends. When I want just like nothing, I just need my brain to calm down and watch Friends or Sex in the City when I could just shut my eyes and watch it. And the one I watched last night, if anybody's still a fan, I watched the one where Sam Samantha was dating the broker guy and he was sort of inside a training.

And he got arrested when he she was like riding him and he got arrested at the same time. She unhandcuffed him and said, All the good ones are getting arrested. Well, I just love Sex in the City.

You're reading a book. Yeah, I'm reading a book at the moment. I'm reading this one. I bought it done actually.

Sarah, Sarah Kate. I haven't read a book for too long. I'm lying, I read half a book on holiday. It's very is this an is this a fiction book? Yeah, it's very saucy. Praise. Is that a lung on the front? Looks like a pair of lungs.

Yeah. And there's four, four in the series, I think. And I'm on this is the first one. I'm nearly finished the second one. So it's quite yeah, it's quite yeah, yeah, it's quite racy. To begin with, this one's more about domination. Oh, really? Yeah. So there's four main characters in it.

And he's and are they like like are they sex workers?

No, they they they most of them own it, and it's all sort of done, so it's all professionally owned. It's so what's a sex club then? It's what do you mean a sex club? Well, people pay to go and to either have sex in these rooms and people can watch, or if they Like being dominated, or there's like thrones in rooms, or there is um rooms where you can get tied up in, or you can But you take your own, you take your husband with you.

No, no. There's shows there as well, so you can watch sex shows if you want to.

I I read a lot of thrillers, and the last couple of ones I've read have been quite dark thrillers. Do you know where they sort of like they've been good because there've been a twist at the end of it, and it's one of these murder mystery type things. And I love them, and that's what I'd sort of usually go to. And I thought, do you know what? I fancy something really different. And I think on TikTok there's these big build-up of these books, and there's a book shop that's opened in Lemington Spa. It does lots and lots of different books for women that are quite sort of sexy, but they're written by women. But it's a wine bar, and there's a bouncer on the door there, and you go there, and there's whatever you do, you don't tell the golf guy about that. And there's loads of, and it's mostly women in there. And you can go and have a cocktail, but it's like a library. So you pick these books up and you sit and you you dress. And there's a lot of books on TikTok at the moment. My girls were sort of telling me about it. I think Beth has read them. Oh, they're sort of fantasy. Fantasy sex.

I've heard there's one about pixies and fairies having sex. Yeah. Yeah, there's a series about fairy sex books.

Yeah, there's apparently loads. And this place in Lemmington Spa does all of those. But when you go in there, it's quite nice. Some women are sitting there having coffee. Some women just some women are masturbating. Yeah, no, you know, some are just there for coffee and just chatting. Some just sit there and read, or some just sort of flick through and I can say, Do you know? But there's a bouncer on the door, and he makes me laugh because when I go ever I go, I know him through a friend of ours who used to be on a really, really rough nightclub place. Whenever I turn up, he gets to me, Oh my god, this is the most easiest job ever. He just stands there, and it's just basically so not too many because it's very small, not too many people can go in. Right. Whenever I go, and I am not joking, I have never been when people aren't queuing to get in. The queue really the queue outside, all types of women, all ages, there is always a click cue.

And is it women only, or does it tend to be more women, or is it actually women only?

We can go in as well, but it's mostly boyfriends. If I'm ever in there, it's mostly history and dragged around there. Do you know what I mean? They've gone out for the day and they've had to be anyway.

But most of it, yeah, mostly it's women, just women catching up for a chit-chat and talk about. I think they have a book club as well, in a it's twice a week. They have like this book club where women can go and talk about the books and what they think about it as well.

Sarah Gate. Yeah. Praise. And it's easy. It's an easy read. I can't read anything where people are forced or do you know I mean it's against people's will or anything. Like that. Yeah. Yeah.

Rapey kind of stuff. Yeah, that doesn't. But because it's what people want to do, I find it quite fascinating in a supper. Do you know what I mean? I haven't I've got time to read a book. I took one book on holiday, which was um, oh, what's his name? Lore, his handle on Insta is luxury lore. He's Zendaya stylist. I love him. He's written a style book. Do you know it's absolutely brilliant?

It's yellow. He's wearing a yellow suit on the front. What's his first name? Neito his name, because it's not it's rude of me to not know his first name. Is Law. Oh, it's his first name is Lore. His name is Laura Roach. And he's written a style book. I think it's called Luxury Lore. And um, it's yellow on the front, it's wearing a yellow seat. I absolutely loved it. I've read half of it on holiday, which is a miracle for me because I can't, I just don't sit still. But it's a sort of part style book, part confidence building. Yeah, is that it? Is that yeah, that's it, isn't it? Is it style? Is it how to build a style how to build a fashion icon? It's how to make you a fashion icon. And it's all about finding your personal style. It's not like if you've got big shoulders, don't wear this. It's like the anti-that. So I'm a bit anti-that because I've got all sorts of things like I don't like about my body, and I'm supposed to wear this because I've got wide shoulders and I haven't got a waist, so I'm supposed to wear whatever. And I do see all of that, and you do look better when you follow the rules, but they also sort of all they do is make me focus on the things I don't like about myself. And I so I've always kind of just thought, Joe, I know I'm not supposed to wear that, but I just bloody like it. And I'm little as well, there's so many things I'm not supposed to wear. And I know you look better with flared pants that make your legs look longer, and you do and you feel better, but sometimes you just think, screw it, I really, really like that jacket that look makes me look like a short tomato, and I just really like it, and it's cool, and it's so true. You know, you all know that woman that walks down the street, and what she's wearing just doesn't make sense, but because they're so confident, it's so unique to them, they just look really cool. It's that personal style, and it's all about so he goes against he goes against the the the fashion rule, the fashion rule, yeah. Yeah, but he only I mean he only dresses people like Zendaya, so I mean she could bloody wear anything, but it's a lot about confidence and having the confidence to know in your gut what looks good because what he says is you do know in your gut what kind of looks good on you because it's when you look in the mirror, you see it for yourself, you don't really need to it be have it explained to you. You you put something on and you in you instinctively know if it suits you if you're confident, if you've had your confidence taken, you don't really know who you are anymore. That's when you don't know what to wear. Yeah. So when you're strong, when you're when you're you're confident and you're feeling connected to yourself, then you feel in your gut what you like, and actually that does suit you because you're confident enough to see it for yourself and do it kind of instinctively instead of from a textbook, and that's like natural style, but it's quite a confidence-building book. It actually makes you kind of remember who you are, and it and I just thought it was a great book. I really, really love it because I've read a lot of style books. I've got a few here. This is a really good style book. Anna Cas is it Anna Kaskarina? She's on Instagram. You know Anna Kaskarina. Yeah, yeah, you want to be asking. Yeah, yeah. Her book, The Forever Wardrobe, Find Your Style, Transform Your Clothes, Same Time as Money. That's a great book. A really great book.

I've got a few style books, but they're about look bold, bohemian, boho, sharp, relaxed, is she about following your shape more than what you like? Is that more structured that book?

A little bit, but also she taps into your personal style as well. Because that I remember thinking that's what I loved about that book. And she says in there that Instagram is making everybody look the same. Yeah, well, I tell you. And I totally agree with that. Yeah, I totally agree that a lot of fashion content creators, I'm not slagging anyone off, I am one, but what looks good on Instagram, you know, three colours, two or three colours, quite neat, you know, aesthetically pleasing, all of that. It looks great on the gram. But actually, sometimes I think clothes that look great on the gram, they're actually really bloody boring in real life. Yeah, and in real life, clothes that are like really cool in real life on the gram, they look they give you a headache when you look at them, they don't work.

Yeah, so it I think yeah, I totally agree. I think that the the whole grey, black looks amazing on a picture, yeah, amazing on Instagram, yeah, the neutral background. Yeah, but if you walk past somebody with a black pair of trousers on and a white sports top with a black dangly necklace and some flip-flops, you blend in with you don't stand out when you're working from, you know. Yeah. And I often think I go into London and and you do a lot. I very rarely see colour. Yeah, I know.

I know. I went in Marks and Spencer's the other day because you know, Marks and Spencer's got this store in London, the Posh one, the Pros and Yes, yes, yes. I was talking about that. I actually went in and made a video about it, uh like a shopping, like a first impressions video. And first of all, it was a bit too long because it's all of 10 minutes and no one can watch it for 10 minutes on Insta. But I thought I can't really get across how I feel about it in just two minutes on Insta. But I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. But it is so a sea of sameness, all the same colours, they look beautiful together, and I have to say, that's the only MS store that I've been in which is reflective of what you see on Instagram. You know, when you see on Instagram, everyone they look the Insta the creators that they tend to take to their fancy events, which look fantastic, not being rude, they look fantastic events, and I think their marketing team are on fire, Marks and Spencer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you see these sort of quite perfect people on their press trips, very carefully selected, perfect people. They've they'd never pick me because I've always got the sort of undone hair. Like I always look slightly scruffy. I like to say it's French, French woman's hair, but I've got that like um that's me, that's just who I am. And but everyone looks very immaculate. I always I looked at the one in the Ibitha because that hotel they went to in Ibitha was my favourite hotel in Ibitha. I remember you saying Hotel Petunia, and um, or it was before they gave it a makeover, but and that's a great place. But I remember looking and thinking, God, I'm glad I'm not on that trip because actually they all look so perfect. I think I just feel just such a little a scruffy urchin kind of just that's not my vibe anyway. When I went into that pantheon store in Oxford Street, if anyone wants to know where it is, that's the first MS I've been in that actually reflects that clean girl because it's very clean girl, I think. MS. Clean girl with a bit of bohoy, but that look, every outfit is very put together. The collot with the white crop lacy top with a little kind of um rat raffian bag with some slightly be no, it's a very much a look. What can you put together that looks nice on everybody? And I thought that was very reflective of what you see on Insta. Whereas you go in my local Marks and Spencer's and the roof's hanging off, like the walls, the the changing rooms, ceilings hanging in, yeah.

Yeah, I don't get Marks and Spencer's because you've got skirts at the front, you've got skirts over to the side, you've got skirts at the back. You know, you literally have to go around the whole store to try and find what you're but that's lovely.

That was that's like that was really well laid out. I mean, they haven't done anything like crazy, it's actually just like a really lovely COS, Zara, you know, Zara on a good day when it's tidy. But you know, they're they're lovely stores, they're clean, and other stories, and other stories is beautiful, yeah. Cos is lovely, all those stores that marks has just sort of brought it up to speed, really, where it should have been, really, and the the mannequins look good, but they're very much you just look the same as everybody else. But they had you do see things and think, Oh, I really like that. That was the first, you know, it's a really nice experience, but it's been so overhyped, I was a bit disappointed. But that's because when people hype things up too much, it's like a film, isn't it? Yeah, it's amazing. You watch it, you're like, isn't that it? And everyone's saying, Oh, it's brilliant, it's brilliant. And I went in and thought, it's actually really nice, but actually, all Marks and Spencer's should be like this. The quality of their clothes look great, the quality of the clothes is great. I thought it was lovely details, but also that's good because I think their quality went down. Yeah, the quality was good because I remember years and years ago. Do you remember when there was rumoured that Armani made their tailoring? I don't know how true Nicole Fari did their knitters, their sweaters, their knitwear. Chanel made their makeup. It was root, they were the rumours. I'm going back like 40 years, 3540. They were the rumors that they were just made in the same factory. And they probably were. Yeah, they probably were. Yeah. Yeah. So they've got great quality, but they're it's they're great quality. That was the first story. I thought that's actually quite nice. So it was good to have a look in there. But we'd all look the same. If we all dressed from there, would all look the same. So anyway, that book is fantastic. How to build a style icon is really good. I love it. I'd say if anybody has like lost their style a little bit, lost sort of a little bit of who you are. It's um Laura Roach, How to Build a Fashion Icon, and it's a great book. Confidence building book, loved it. Really well.

Yeah, I think I think I think it's a mix, isn't it? I mean, we're both on Instagram, absolutely, that's what we do. Um, I don't think people spend as much time on it as we do. Yeah. So maybe it's different when you can go in and you just get ideas, which is what you should be for to get ideas. Um, where I find that because I'm on it too much, I end up I'm more creative if I'm not on it. So you I know you're the same. So if you come away for a while, I will actually look at my wardrobe differently. Where if I'm on it a lot, I I I go down the route of everybody else where I can fall down the trap of copying or and also it's what looks good on on on Instagram.

Uh it's BBC, iPlayer. Right. And um What's it that? Oh, what the hell's her name? The funny as hell tall Newcastle Northern Lass from Motherland. Is her name Kay? Kate. Oh, and she's uh she's a really great actress. What else is she on? She's on all those com comedy shows where you have to add lib, where you have to She's a she's a proper comedian. She's a proper stage comedian. Diane Morgan is her name. Diane Morgan. She's a proper comedian. Anyway, she is Android. She is a robot. And at the beginning, somebody gets well, people have got robots as their carers. So when they're older and they live alone, they then have a robot carer who helps them with things, helps them with the medication, helps them do the dishes, pick them up with their fall, that kind of thing. And I really, really loved it. Six episodes, did it in two nights, and it was just, you know, sometimes you get like a TV show and it's a little bit left field and it's funny. Some sometimes you think I don't know where this is going, and then it actually they just set drop a few jokes that are a little bit not too obvious. I don't like really obvious things apart from friends, but I don't like really like obvious things that's a little bit slightly nichey, and they have some great jokes, but actually, this is like quite a heartwarming story underneath it as well. Um but yeah, it's about that she's a robot, she's an aunt, she's a robot carer, and they do have robots to help them just sort of go shopping.

Maybe I'll have that maybe I'll have a look at that because I watched a film last night, which was oh my god, on Netflix. I can't remember it was a woncom. Not see no evil. I've been told to watch that next. No, okay, my daughter, it was top 10. I think it is in the top 10. It's like a wrong com. I can't think of words. Top ten.

Oh, not um, not off-campus. That's supposed to be good. That's for kids, but apparently loads of adults love it. No, that's a bit like glee, I think. Right. Did you watch Glee like 20 years ago? Yeah, I think my girls watched it and then watched it with off-campus is a bit like Glee, I think, but a bit grittier. That's supposed to be good. I take it that's romantic. What you're thinking of? Rom it was a wrong com. And you're watching it now, or is that your next recommendation? Uh it no. Wow, it was good.

It was good. Oh, you've seen it. Yeah, so I watched it last night. What is it? You've got to find it. Absolutely sobbed through the whole of it. I said to my daughter, do you is it good? And she said, Oh, yeah, the first bit of it is a bit sad, she said. But after that, she said, It's it's fine. So she said to me, the first five minutes, she said, I won't take away from it. She said, It's about a sister that dies, which I'm not taking anything away because it literally happens in the first five minutes. Yeah.

Yes, I cried all the way through it. So I started off with this and then sobbed and then thought, oh my god. And it was it's about how certain people come into your life and it's meant to be, you know, like like you pass, you cross sort of thing is and who's the lead actress? I need to know what it is. We all need to know what it is. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I'm now you look for it. Yeah, you you you you carry on talking, and I'm going to talk about it.

Well, what I was going to say is, I'll talk. What I was going to say is I I just really don't go for those kind of have a good cry type films and books. I've got a bestie, Debs. She absolutely loves anything that just makes you really something really depressed. If she gives me a recommendation for a book or anything, I'm like, no, I'm not reading that, Debs, because it will be about someone who was locked in a cupboard for 10 years and abused, all those kind of like really sad, sad things that just really tear it at your heart. She loves reading them. I'm the opposite, and with my music and everything, I don't like the sort of Beyoncé, the heartbroken stuff, like the big dramatic stuff, like emotional. I just like happy stuff. I want like dance music, Bruno Mars, everything's happy. I want like my films to be just kind of like comedy, uplifting. I get I like the odd thing, but generally I just like things that just make me happy. And I keep trying to get my daughter into this because my girly, she's very often drawn to the sort of saddy things, depressy things. She's so she's 16. I'm like, come on, she's like a 16 sort of emo-y gothy type dressing for many 16-year-olds. But I always say you're like the product of what your environment is, and if you surround yourself with this sort of doom and gloom and depressing songs, that is who you become. You're sort of training your brain to vibrate at that level. Because everyone talks about those analogies about whether you're a radiator or a sponge, and you can be with people and they just sort of suck the life out of you a little bit, or you can be with someone, and when you leave them, you feel really like your cup has been filled. And I think a lot of that is what you're surrounding yourself with. So I'm not very good if it's you're not selling it to me if it's gonna make me cry for an is it a series or a film? No, it's a film, it's a film. I was just looking, but I can't seem to and it's Netflix top ten right now. I've got to find it.

But zombie film, great, but anything where actually your neighbour could be a murderer, like a real life thing. I literally would never leave the house again. I'm looking at the top ten or whatever, and number five in whatever chart I'm looking at on Netflix, worst neighbour ever. And there's some guy in a hoodie looking through the keyhole.

Which one of the god yeah, it was. It was their first one, I think, or one of the first ones, you know, where his parents were killed and it made him into because there's been so many Batman. And I just thought to myself, I think that was on the top, or or it just came up on Netflix, so it was new to Netflix, and I just thought, oh, I'll watch that afterwards, but I must admit. I know Batman was I didn't particularly like Batman at the best of the time, so I don't really know why I watched it, but that was in the background. I was doing other things and I was on my phone and I was sort of like working, so low rhythm.

It depends on how old, if you've got children and how old they are when these films come out and whether they want to watch them. Yeah. Because I'm not sure if they watch it. It's not always.
