Hello Internet. We're we're here with another edition of Two White Dudes who I'm like starting a pod. This is exact this this is what the world needs. Exactly what the world needs. Exactly what the world needs. Absolutely. And we just want to welcome you.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Sunday School Dropouts.
SPEAKER_04Sunday school dropouts.
SPEAKER_01And technically it's true. We never finished Sunday school.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we're not wrong. We were brainstorming ideas, and I told him I had this name in my back pocket and I really wanted to use it, but I didn't know what for. And as we were talking, we both realized that we grew up in the church, but we both never finished Sunday school.
SPEAKER_01That's very true. And we walked away from the church for a while.
SPEAKER_04We both did. We did. So we are Sunday school dropouts.
SPEAKER_01Technically are Sunday school dropouts. We are. But we're saved, sanctified, and just unhindered. Yep. And unfiltered.
SPEAKER_04Unhindered, unfiltered, unleashed.
SPEAKER_01Unleashed, I'd like that one.
SPEAKER_04Unleashed. Like I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Gosh. Anyway.
SPEAKER_04This is going to be an interesting pod.
SPEAKER_01This is going to be an interesting pod. Who knows what we'll even talk about? Yeah. Um, but I'm sure it's gonna be wild and probably not what most people are expecting from either of us.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Or just like believers in general. It's very true. Probably gonna offend some of you, but we got don't worry, it's all um backed by the Bible. Yeah, it's very true. The church is backed by the Bible.
SPEAKER_01And well, I wouldn't say we're all backed by the church because we're well it depends on which one. Yeah, we're not liked by a couple of them.
SPEAKER_04It's like, yeah, we're backed by the church. Oh yeah, which one? Um, you ever hear the LDS?
SPEAKER_01It's like, oh, that one. Yeah. Yeah, we're not backed by the LDS. But we we, you know, um, I don't I don't think that the uh I don't know. Maybe maybe most non-denominational streams would back us.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, I think like the Catholics and Orthodox might like us. Some of them. Some of them might. Some of them. The ones that were born after 2005. Maybe.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. I don't know what we're gonna talk about, but I'm sure it's gonna be messy, and I'm sure it's gonna be the craziest things that uh very unfiltered, very unhinged, and your your word, what's that word? Unleashed. Unleashed, very unleashed. So yeah. Um Sunday school dropouts. What's this about? Um, obviously, we're talking about a lot of stuff that the church just doesn't um bring up on your average Sunday morning conversations. Um, I know we have a couple ideas floating around for episodes that we're gonna obviously you guys will see as time goes on, but um man, our stories are wild, both of us. I know, right? We have some crazy stories, crazy testimonies and uh just even like us both kind of growing up in the church, we both walked away the church.
SPEAKER_04I don't how old were you when you came back to I was about I was about to turn 21.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and I was 18. So I mean I mean close in age when we came back to the church, but um yeah, we spent years in the secular life. When did you turn 18? 2020, right? When?
SPEAKER_04Um what time frame? June, June of 2020. June? You're you're not gonna believe it. You know when I I was August of 2020. That you it was yeah, it was whatever August going into September, because I turned 21 in September that year. Oh wow, yeah, and it was like it was a little bit of before a month before. So we went not only were did we walk away, we came back pretty close to the same time. That is very true. I never put that together. I was like, wait a minute. You probably would have been 18 when I was 21.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, definitely, dude. That's I am your elder. You see you're my elder. I am your elder, and you need to respect your elders. Elder Lochman.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I am the elder.
SPEAKER_01Okay, now you're starting to sound like the LDS.
SPEAKER_04Well the elder. Well, you know. Dop it. I do love Utah.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_04Salt Lake is great.
SPEAKER_01Man, this podcast's gonna get canceled.
SPEAKER_04I've never I've never been to Salt Lake. Neither do I, nor do I really plan to do it. I don't really, uh it's not on my list.
SPEAKER_01Nothing out there I really think I need to see. Maybe if if you're listening and you think there's something in Salt Lake, change my mind.
SPEAKER_04If you're from Utah and you think that we should visit your state, tell us why.
SPEAKER_01Yes, please do.
SPEAKER_04Because I'm begging to hear and and and make it a reason that's not Mormons or skiing, because that seems to be the two things that your state's got going on. Ski in Utah? Yeah, they ski all the time in Utah. It's huge. I didn't even know that. That was uh that's why the um uh like in the early 2000s or like late 90s or something, they did the Olympics there. Oh, wow. The winter Olympics. They were they were they were up there.
SPEAKER_01I had absolutely no clue that was even something happening in Utah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because I remember SNL did a bit about a lady skiing, and then these Mormons came off on the on the skis, and they were like, Have you heard of Joseph Smith?
SPEAKER_01That's crazy. Yeah, just literally, just look at that. Utah is famous for its legendary dry powder and boast 15 world-class ski resorts.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's a ski resort state, man.
SPEAKER_01Dang, I didn't even know this. Oh gosh, I don't even know where Utah's on the map, don't ask me. And from all of you from Utah. Northwest? You're fake. I haven't met you. Um Your State's not real. Your state's not real. Also, if you're listening from North Dakota, give me a shout because I've never heard of anyone from there either. Got any other ones?
SPEAKER_04That's true. Well, there's a sprint car driver that's from North Dakota. Oh, okay. So that's the only that's the only person I've ever heard from North Dakota. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So if anybody from a weird state, just shout it out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Let us know what your state's known for. Absolutely. I want because I'm curious. Like, what do you from the state think your state's known for? Because like we're from PA. Yeah. Spoilers. Um What is spoiling, bro? I don't know. Well, we're from Pennsylvania, for those who want to know. We're not gonna tell you where. I'm not doxing us. Um, but we're known for what's what's PA known for? Like Amish people? Um and Hershey's chocolate.
SPEAKER_01Hershey's chocolate. Uh Scran is like office, and then Phil. Also Joe Biden's from Scran.
SPEAKER_04Oh, is he really?
SPEAKER_01I'm pretty sure he is. Uh I think Taylor Swift is from Pennsylvania as well.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, she's from Reading.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, that's true. Somewhere close to that. Yeah. Um, what else we got? Um, potholes and bad roots. Oh, yeah, we are known for potholes and bad drivers.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's very true. And the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I go Steelers. Okay, we can ignore that comment, but anyway, we continue on.
SPEAKER_04Go stealers. What? Are you an Eagles fan?
SPEAKER_01No, I man, I I don't know. I'm I'm a fake Pittsburgh.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's right. You like Baltimore.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no. We're not getting into who I like on here because I'm gonna get chased in the comment section.
SPEAKER_04I'll go with who I like. Okay, Pittsburgh. I like people. I'm Pittsburgh 3 and 3, Doug. Okay, except for college. Then it's Penn State. Yeah. I don't like the University of Pittsburgh. No? No, I just never got into them. Like well, because you know, to tell a little bit about my story, like cancer and stuff runs in my family. Yeah. So like my little cousin had cancer, and so did my childhood best friend. And they were both four diamonds kids.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow.
SPEAKER_04For yeah, so like all of their like medical stuff got taken care of by Penn State. Oh day. And like they did thaw and they did like all this stuff. That's great. So I will forever be a Penn State person because of what they did for Valid reason. Yeah. Like I want the four diamonds logo right here. Yeah. That's my goal. That's what I'm gonna fill that little spot with. Right above the cancer bracelets. Dude. Talk about my tattoos because there's no uh people on here. Sorry, Catholics. I know you think I'm going to hell now.
SPEAKER_01Man. Um if you want to cancel us. Dude, legit. I mean, we were already kind of expecting it, so you don't have you don't have any tattoos, do you? Not yet. Not yet. No. Possibly.
SPEAKER_04If there were any that you would want.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. What would you want? Yeah, exactly. I have this one for like my I guess bicep um that I have.
SPEAKER_04Um your bicep's not. No, no, I know. Yeah. Where's your bicep?
SPEAKER_01It's right here.
SPEAKER_04Like, I was just making sure you knew. Okay, thank you. Because you said my bicep and immediately flexed your forearm.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, do you do is that what he thinks your bicep knows? No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm thankful there's no cameras in on this pod because maybe one day. Possibly. Spoiler. Maybe, yeah. Possibly spoiler. We'll see where this goes. No, but if I if I got one, no, I'd get um uh there's this one that I saw by this uh artist who does Christian uh tattoo designs. It was the prodigal son, like the whole story of the prodigal son. Oh wow. Um in like a almost like a half sleeve kind of deal. So it was like from top to bottom, you know. Um, and it's it's pretty pretty decently detailed, like from um him starting at home running away to at the end coming back to the king. Yeah. Um and it's great. And I don't know. I mean, I've always like I always love the prodigal son story because it kind of resonates with my story.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna say, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I man, I've I wrote a couple songs about it. And um Would you say is that your favorite Bible story? Oh, that's a great question. I I mean, you know, I don't know, man. I I think it is. Um but it's definitely my favorite like parable Jesus taught.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, man, that's that's such a hard question. I think honestly, like I said, Bible story, I don't know, because I don't think anything truly beats like there's some pretty wild ones that I love.
SPEAKER_04I mean, so it's hard for me to pick two.
SPEAKER_01It is hard because I don't want to say like a favorite Bible story um and like just like totally forsake like all the other good the other good stories. Because I mean, man, I I don't have an absolute favorite, but I mean some of the ones that are like current for me. What would you say is your okay we'll do this. What's your Mount Rushmore? Mount Rushmore.
SPEAKER_04You get four.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_04Um I'm gonna say Trump gets his way five.
SPEAKER_02Sorry when I say that out loud.
SPEAKER_04Okay, we're gonna explore somebody who would add himself to that.
SPEAKER_01We'll explore that in a later episode of this podcast. Not right now, gosh. Too early to get canceled. Um episode one. It's episode one, guys.
SPEAKER_04We got 20 more to go. Episode one, and X doesn't like us already. That's very true. Womp womp.
SPEAKER_01Womp womp. Uh, anyways, my Mount Rushmore Bible stories. Um, man, I first would have to say the day of Pentecost. Um, day of Pentecost, man, it's so amazing just to see how so many people were gathered uh in the upper room, and like the nations were in Israel's like backyard. Like, man, the nations were represented there that day, and like the reason like God poured out a spirit is to reveal himself to many people, and people are speaking in tongues, unknown languages. Well, it's not an unknown language, but they're speaking, they're actually speaking to the people that are that are outside listening, right? So the day of Pentecost maybe was just a mighty, mighty move of the spirit, not necessarily just about speaking in tongues, but like Jesus, like the Lord revealing himself to the nations.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they were so on fire for the Holy Spirit that like people just walking in the streets. Yeah, they knew what they were saying because they're speaking their language. Yeah, like yeah, like they weren't, it wasn't the there I know there's a common misconception about that uh story where it's like the tongues of fire came down and then they went out onto the streets. No, they were already speaking in tongues in the room. Yeah. And then they went out. Like people already knew, and then they came out to like preach, and people were just like, What were you talking about in there? Yeah, well, it's and why were you speaking like fluent Turkish or whatever they whatever they would have at the time.
SPEAKER_01So I I think the day of Pentecost like is there. Um and man, I think that's that's good um good stuff to oh Isaiah in the presence of the Lord, we're in the book of Isaiah. Okay, um, when he comes before the Lord and like the angel has to touch his lips with burning coal. Yeah, uh it's one of my favorite stories. And Isaiah is trembling in the presence of the Lord. But the reason, the reason that I love it so much is because the revelation of John when Jesus, like the voice from heaven, says, Come up here. I think that's John 4 or 5, something like that. Sure. Um, I yeah, someone will correct me if I'm wrong in the comments.
SPEAKER_04Well, exactly.
SPEAKER_01I can tell you the stories and I can tell you a bunch of facts, but you ask for the page number and it's gone. Um I but I mean, man, it really makes me so grateful for like the blood of Jesus because you know John was able to stand in confidence in front of the Lord because of the blood of Christ, and Isaiah did not know the blood of Christ, and so he's trembling and he has to be cleansed by the angel. And man, like reading that like pre-Christ um birth, death, and resurrection and ascension, man, just like reading that is just so um powerful because that is life without Christ, man. Like we we have no right standing with God, but only because the blood of Jesus can we enter in. Um, and it just shows so true in Revelation when you read about John um in the throne room and what he's what he's dealing with. So I got the day of Pentecost, I got Isaiah 6. I'm pretty sure it's Isaiah 6. I'm gonna say prodigal son's probably up there. Okay. Um man, the prodigal son's a really powerful story. I think that um definitely um it it shows a story of you know God's God's grace um and his his deep forgiveness and just showing us through the picture of the king running to um the prodigal son, man, it just throws in a whole different picture because um it just takes off this uh sense of like properness when it comes to authority. And Jesus throws away the properness of authority just to have us.
SPEAKER_04Um and it shows too, like I think that's what's interesting about the prodigal son, it's it's there's almost an allegory for like the current church as well with the older son. Yeah. That's so interesting. Where he's just like they bring in the old the the younger son comes in, who's the prodigal, and he's like sliding a fat and cavern.
SPEAKER_03The older son's just like, Well, you never did that for me. What's going on here?
SPEAKER_04And it's like, and he's just like, Don't you understand that like your son is coming home? And it's almost exactly like Jesus' take on the church at the time, like the first century church, where he's like, Don't you understand? Like, I am here to not only help you guys, but I want to help everyone, like the Greeks. I want to help like the Greek people, I want to help the Ottomans, I want to help like all the. I'm trying to think of like all the yeah, no, I I get what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but yeah, it man, it's just a powerful story, and I love it. And someone gotta keep prodigal son up there. And man, it's so hard to just give you four.
SPEAKER_04I have one left. Yeah, and I gotta give it to some honorable mentions. I wouldn't mind some honorable mentions.
SPEAKER_01So some honorable mentions out there, the parable to talents. Um great. I believe, man, I like maybe I could go to a whole episode about this, but I think it's one of the misinterpreted paired most misinterpreted parables in the gospels. Really? Um, I actually do, and I I mean, maybe it's just my personal take and research on it. Um, I did I did a good extensive research on it for uh class I took in college, and it really opened my eyes up to um how just like surface level reread the Bible, not gonna lie. Um and I think that a lot of people just take it as talents and and using your talents for for the Lord, but man, the story's about investment. Um, and this man, the story is powerfully about not just what the Lord gives you in like singing or like flagging or writing, man. It goes so much deeper than that. I'm not gonna get into it now. That's an honorable mention, though. I think another honorable mention, um man, I I love it. Um the boy and you're you'll probably talk about this. The boy in the white cloth when um Oh, the naked boy in the garden of Gesemity? Naked boy in the garden of Gesemite. Dude, so I'm pretty sure you might talk about this when we get to your top fourth. That's an honorable mention.
SPEAKER_04I well, I love that story because of the research that I've put into uh like what it means. Yeah. So yeah, I can talk about that. That one's probably pretty up there. That one's up there for me.
SPEAKER_01Um man, honorable mentions like that. I I could just go on and on and on. So the Bible's full of um some insane stories, but I gotta give the fourth face to Paul getting stoned by um, I believe the Jews from um Laconium or something like that. I I'm not quite uh positive if I am getting that 100% right. You're talking about Apostle Paul? Yeah, the Apostle Paul, when he when he got stoned, and then the um you know people of the church got around and prayed for him, um, and then got up and like walked into the people who are um you know stoning him. Yeah, it's I I was I was right. It was it's Acts 14, um where the Jews came from Antioch in Iconium, and you know, they persuaded the crowds he stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city. Uh they thought he was dead, and the disciples gathered around him, and he rose up and he entered the city, and on the next day he went to uh Derby, which um he preached the gospel there. So not only did he he get up and keep preaching the gospel, but then listen to this. Then um they returned to Iconium and to Antioch. And it says in the beginning, the Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, right? So he literally returned to the home of the people that were per persecuting him, and they shared Jesus there. And now there's all these converts, and man, it's such a powerful story. And like I pray that I'd have the faith like Paul and the power um that Paul had. Um, and obviously I know that's the power of the Holy Spirit within us. Um but to me, bro, that's an insane story. Not to only like you know, to be stoned to the point, and some man, some scholars think that Paul actually died and that he was resurrected. Um, and I don't know how I feel about that.
SPEAKER_04I and there's a lot of if he didn't die, he was definitely on the brink of it.
SPEAKER_01100% he was, he was in bad shape. Um But I you know, I just want to point out that like it's the same as Jesus. Jesus was not reincarnated, he was resurrected. Yeah, like I don't know. People think that they just like it's like a f a video game, bro.
SPEAKER_04Like Yeah, he he had the he had extra respawn.
SPEAKER_01Right, exactly. Like these people get to respawn. No, they're beat up individual.
SPEAKER_04I mean, Jesus probably um did not look too physically good when that's what the thing I was resurrected toy with because like people say that it was the exact same body, yeah, as well. Like he's is he just like straight up came up, and I'm like, man, like how like he would have been like a walking corpse, right? Essentially, you know what I mean? Like his like we you hear like you can you guys listening can look up the medical examinations of Jesus, yeah. Like his his spine would have been showing. Exactly. His like, you know, whether it was his hands or his wrist or whatever, it's debated. Um, there would have been huge holes in there and in his and in his feet or ankles or wherever the nails would have actually went. I don't know. Um or like like you would have had huge holes in there. Yeah you would have had like these gaping gashes in his head from the crown of thorns, and like yeah, bro, it's insane.
SPEAKER_01And I mean that's and that's obviously like a stream case, and that's Jesus. Think of Paul like getting stoned by not pebbles, like absolutely some crazy um crazy, probably sized stones. Like, I don't really know what the size they were, um, but I can assure you that they probably weren't small.
SPEAKER_04It would yeah, there would have been decent pro I would say probably like the size of their hands was probably what they would have aimed for.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, he's probably beaten bruised um so bad. Um I don't know. I mean, he he rose up, but like did he walk a limp? Like, I mean, I don't know these things. Like, yeah, who knows? Um I don't know how he looked, but the fact that he not only got up and kept going on his mission, but then came back to the place where the people that persecuted him came from and sharing the gospel and his disciples everywhere now, it's like bro, that's insane. So my Mount Rushmore, day of Pentecost, nice, uh, Isaiah in the presence of God, prodigal son, and Paul. And I'm this you gotta you gotta tell me your you on mine? Uh yeah, I gotta get some. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I would definitely say as far as I know we're talking about stories, and I'll get there, but Paul is on my Mount Rushmore of just people in the Bible. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I would say that he's like, he's probably on the A-B Lincoln spot. Jesus is probably George Washington. Yeah. A blinkin, a blinkin' spot would definitely be Paul.
SPEAKER_01I think Jesus would be George Washington.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, he's the front and center in the on Mount Rushmore. He's right there. So Jesus definitely would have been there. Um then Paul, if you don't count Jesus, I don't know if it would be I don't know. Pro Paul would probably take the Washington spot for me. Yeah. But stories in the Bible, let me think here. Um I love the story of Job in the Bible. I love that story. Come on. Um, it's such a good because someone like me, uh, who a lot of my stories for uh those who don't know me or know who I am, first off, hi. Um I've definitely been like downtrodden. And beaten down by life a lot. I was bullied very, very severely in school. High school, middle school. It's probably why I dropped out of Sunday school. Wink wink. Um I winked in real life and then realized that nobody can see me. So it's absolutely and uh but like so I uh very much can relate to the story of Job because it's just like you know, the devil asked God, like, oh you know, let me let me get to him. Like Job's your favorite, and Job's this, that, and the other thing. And God's just like, okay, but you can't touch him. And the devil immediately found a loophole because he was like, Nobody said anything about your family, and so he takes everything he owns, his family dies, and this, that, but he still remains faithful to God despite all of the stuff he's been through, and then God rewards him by not only restoring his family, but giving ten full like doubling, he doubled everything right at the end. And some scholars believe that he not only gave him new sons and daughters, but he resurrected the ones that he lost. That's what a lot of people believe, and that's what I believe as well. Yeah, so Job's up there. Um, I also really like Jesus with the uh with the prostitute, yeah. That's a good story. Right before she gets stoned. That one's up there. I really, really enjoy that one. Um, oh, also back to Job. Uh I I also really like the part where Job's friends are just like, This is this God really like on your side, you know, because all this stuff and got and God basically like taps him on the shoulder. Yeah. And just like, you wanna see what I made? And then shows them a 300-mile-long dragon thing called the Leviathan. Oh gosh, you love the Leviathan. I love Leviathan, is one of my favorite, like just things that like God has created like in the Bible. Because he only shows up like two or three times. Yeah, he shows up in Job, and then I think in Revelation, yeah, it's only twice. Yeah. When he dies, um, when Leviathan comes out of the sea, and then he uh gets killed by the Archangel Michael. Um, yeah, just God just like, hey, come see what I made. I just think that's so funny. These guys are talking smack, and he's just tabs you on the show. Because we've all been there. Yeah, we've all done the thing where we're just like we're talking smack about somebody, or we or even though we're not supposed to be doing that, but like we'll do that, or we'll say some comment and be like, yeah, I just don't like this. And then that person immediately walks in the room, or you don't realize they're behind you, or whatever the case maybe. We've all been there. 100%. And I thought that that was really funny, yeah. But yeah, anyway, Jesus and the uh prostitutes about to be stoned. Love that story. Um, Jesus writes something in the dirt. I would I can't wait to get to heaven. Because I'm definitely gonna be asking him like, what did you write? Like, would you write in the where'd you write in the dirt? And who knows, maybe that that might not be an answer that we're ever gonna know. Very true. Um, that might even when we get to heaven, Jesus might be like, eh, you don't need to know. Yeah, it's nothing. Right. Um, who knows? That was pretty good. But uh, I love that story just because it's like all about like, you know, not only did he like love her in the nature that she was, because like she got caught in sin. She got caught um committing adultery with somebody's uh husband. Yep. And they were gonna stone her right then and there, and he was just like, you know, he who hath no sin shall cast the first stone. Yeah. And which he's basically talking about himself, and like could have turned around and just stoned her right then and there. Absolutely. But instead, he showed her compassion, he put the stone down, but then not only did he show her compassion, he then was like, Okay, don't sin anymore. Like, go and go and sin no more. Basically, like giving her a second chance in life, yeah. And I find that just so like it's one of those like you read it and you're just like you know, right? Yeah, I know. Exactly what you're saying. And uh oh now I gotta think. I mean, I can't not bring up Revelations.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my guess, you love that buck, bro.
SPEAKER_04I did it's so it's such a I love going down rabbit holes, and that is like the the biggest rabbit hole book in the Bible.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_04Um it's actually something I want on my body. I love Revelation 5.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04With the scrolls, uh-huh. And the angels are like, who can who is worthy enough to open the scrolls? And John's like, uh, he's weeping and and crying and bawling his eyes up because he knows that he's not worthy enough, so he's thinking that that they're talking to him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And he's like, Well, I'm definitely not worthy enough, so I guess these scrolls are never gonna be opened, and he's bawling and crying about it. Yeah. And then here comes a seven-eyed, seven-horned lamb who looks to who appears to have been slain, shows up, removes the seal, and opens the scroll, which is revealed to be God's word written front and back. So on both sides, there's God's word, doesn't say what it says. Um, well, it goes through a bunch of other scrolls, but I don't think that particular scroll was ever mentioned what it says in there. I could be wrong on that.
SPEAKER_01Revelation 5.
SPEAKER_04Yes, Revelation 5. I don't think it's ever necessarily says what is said on there, but I love just that appearance of uh obviously it's a it's a very, very metal depiction of Jesus, the seven-eyed, seven-horned lamb who's been slain.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_04So I think that that's super, super cool. So it's like I want that, and then also like cross Jesus on me at some point. Yeah. I love I want both of those kind of depictions of him. Um while you're looking that up, oh let me, I'll think of Yeah, well, I'm reading it. Yeah, Revelations 5. Does it say does it say what the scroll says? I could just be misremembering. No, I don't I don't think it does. That scroll in particular, I don't think it does. Because they open they're opening scrolls as yeah, things happen, but I think that one in particular they don't say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we talk about how you see the lamb and he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne, taking the scroll. Um they sang the song, Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals. And then I looked, John Stock said, I looked and I heard around the throne, and the living creatures and the elders of the voice of many angels numbering myards and myrids and thousands, thousands, saying a loud voice worthy is lamb. Yep. And then talks about what he hears, but it doesn't quite say never says what's on the scroll. And then it talks about how the lamb in the next chapter in chapter six, it talks about the lamb open one of the seven seals, um, and then hear one of the living creatures with a voice like Thunder Saint come. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And look, behold a white horse, and then it gets on to the he opens the seals, and as he's opening this the scroll that he takes from the from the lamp from the right hand of the father, yeah, as he's removing the seals from the scroll, stuff starts happening. Yeah. But it's crazy that the scroll it never says exactly what the scroll says. Uh-huh. Unless breaking the seals is what the scroll says, which is possible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I just find that that whole section is just so fascinating to me that it's like of course like this crazy depiction of our savior, like a straight, seven-eyed, seven-horned lamb who's been slain, shows up, takes the scroll, and as soon as he breaks the seals, one the one seal, crazy stuff happens. Yeah. Second seal, crazy stuff's happening. I believe there's seven total on the scroll. Yeah, seven seals. Yeah, seven seals. And uh, so that entire I'm like, what is happening? You know what I mean? I love it. And then uh, oh, the last one.
SPEAKER_01Gotta think.
SPEAKER_04There's so many.
SPEAKER_01I know, right? Honorable mentions, anything before you last one? Honorable mentions.
SPEAKER_04I mean, obviously, Adam and Eve was a great one. Um I think it's just so I've also I'm also a huge fan of Paradise Lost. Yeah. By John Milton. I don't know if you've ever read that. It's a great so like that whole section of that um is just it added to my uh love for that story because it kind of put it in a whole new light. Which by the way, anybody who releases who reads Paradise Lost by John Milton and believes that the devil is a good guy, uh needs to reread Paradise Lost by John Milton. Well, that's the whole like, what if the devil was the bit was the good guy the whole time book? And I'm like, did you even read it? Like, like he literally in that story decides to take down Adam and Eve solely because the love that Adam and Eve are getting, he can no longer have. And he's basically like, well, if I can't have it, then they can't. That's literally the what drives him to do it in according to Paradise Lost. Uh-huh. In the Bible, it's obviously different, it doesn't say why. It's just a certain serpent just shows up. 100%. But uh uh that would be an honorable mention.
SPEAKER_01Anything else, honorable mention?
SPEAKER_04Oh uh uh no, I think I have my fourth one. Okay, but another honorable mention, just all of the book of judges, because the book of judges is insane. I love them. Like the millstone, the lady killing the king with the millstone is nuts. The story of Samson is nuts. Absolutely. Um, I love that, and just like that whole time period is crazy too. Like, I love the story. I would say the uh all of first second kings going into like all of Saul, David, Solomon is a great honorable mention. It's just so long.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'm mistaken those as first seconds cameo, but remember when like Saul is ruling and like David gets close to him and just chops off like a like this sliver of his garment?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he cuts, he cuts a piece of his robe off and he just he basically comes in the next day. And he's like, I could have killed you. That's that's a crazy one.
SPEAKER_01I think maybe that's an honorable mention on me. That's a great one.
SPEAKER_04That's the entire section. Saul to David to Solomon. And plus, there's all that the crazy stuff with Solomon's of like people who because I I I'm a conspiracy theorist. I like I I I describe myself as a tinfoil hat American. Yeah, you brace the identity. That's well, like people, yeah. Well, like people say that Solomon possibly controlled and figured out how to control demons to build the temple. I don't necessarily know if I believe that. If you read the lesser key of Solomon, yeah, that's where that comes from. But that's also from middle-aged Catholicism, and they made up a lot of stuff at that time. Very true. So take that with a grain of salt. But Solomon is just crazy. That that's another, I would guess, yeah. All all of Saul, David, to Solomon, all of that. Like, yeah, Solomon having that dream, and he's just like, God's just like, what do you want? And he's just like, I want the wisdom and knowledge to be able to lead my people the way that you need me to lead them. Yeah. He's just like, Oh, you could have asked for fame and fortune, right? So not only am I gonna give you the knowledge that you want, which is why he became the wisest king until he wasn't. Um yeah, and uh I'm gonna give you the fame and fortune that you could have asked for as well. And I think that that's that's so so cool. Yeah. Um, but my favorite story in the Bible, because of how sassy the man is, and I love it. Yeah, but Elijah.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_04His story is fantastic when he is going against particularly when he's going up against the priest of Baal. Well, it is fantastic. Like the entire when the people are doing their ceremonies and it's not working, and Elijah's like, well, maybe he's sleeping.
SPEAKER_03Maybe he's not, maybe he's just checking his mail real quick. Maybe he's doing like he's he's clear, like, what is going on here? You know, like uh he's such a sassy, sassy man.
SPEAKER_04And I love because the entire story of him, that's how he is, and I love that. And but even like that part of um, uh, that's my favorite bit of Elijah's when he goes again, and then he and then when it's his turn, he makes an offering. Yeah. And not only does God strike lightning down, which is what the task was, but he also killed every single priest of Baal. It was like 40 some dudes or however many.
SPEAKER_01Umab, right?
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01It's Ahab, right? Ahab? Yeah. Um it was the he he went to Ahab, right? Was Ahab the priest of Baal? I'm not quite sure.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, oh, you mean the main priest? Yeah, I believe it was Ahab, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because this that's the first that's first kings.
SPEAKER_04Yes, that's right, yeah. Yeah, that one's great. Um, and then also like the whole point net once that happens, uh, Jezebel, right? Queen Jezebel? Um, is like, well, now I'm gonna kill you. You killed all my priests, now I'm gonna kill you. And that's when he goes into the Kemple temple and he wants to, or the cave, I mean. And he's just like, oh God, just take me, I wanna die. And God's basically like, here's a snack, take a nap, you'll be fine. Like, so therefore, therefore, people um who are listening, if you're still listening, thank you so much. Um I did not expect never underestimate the power of a snack and a nap. It's biblical. Hey, that's true. Snacks and naps are biblical.
SPEAKER_01Hey, and you know what? Jesus slept in the boat.
SPEAKER_04Jesus slept in the boat, he slept in the garden of Gethsemane right before.
SPEAKER_01That's true, bro. He was he's he took naps a lot. Jesus was the CEO of naps, I think.
SPEAKER_04Was the CEO of naps? I'm gonna say it. All right, God.
SPEAKER_01Is that heretical?
SPEAKER_04He was kidding.
SPEAKER_01Just hey, the like he just sleeping a lot. He paved the way to prove naps are okay, bro. Naps are fine.
SPEAKER_04Naps are good.
SPEAKER_01They're holy and biblical.
SPEAKER_04Holy and biblical, right?
SPEAKER_01I can say that. I'm not a heretic yet, am I? Not yet. Not yet.
SPEAKER_04You're pushing it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Some people think I am.
SPEAKER_04We all are. Oh, for sure. Yeah, there's definitely gonna be people that are like these guys are insane.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh, Sunday school dropouts.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, guys.
SPEAKER_01That is it. Well, man, I think it's enough for one episode.
SPEAKER_04Decent first episode, yeah. That was really good. Yeah, we talked about our Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore about introduced ourselves a little bit. Yeah. Our unhinged topics. Maybe we'll talk about consumer. Maybe I'll bring out some conspiracy theories in the in the future.
SPEAKER_00Very true. I'm sure we'll get into some words.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I got some for you. I completely forgot to talk about well, I'll save it for something else, but I completely forgot to talk about the naked boy in the garden of Gethsemane. Oh, yeah. That one's up there too. I would say.
SPEAKER_01Tell the story quick. We've got time.
SPEAKER_04Fine, fine, fine, fine. So for anybody who's never looked into the naked boy of the Garden of Gethsemane, it is two verses in I think Luke or Mark.
SPEAKER_01It's one of the gospels. I can't tell you.
SPEAKER_04It's either Mark or Luke. It's uh, but it's two verses where basically as Jesus is getting arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, um, this random boy who she's wearing nothing but a linen cloth shows up. I'm pretty sure it's Luke. Um, but correct me, please. It's Mark or Luke. Um I just looked this up the other day because I told somebody this. Um and he shows up. It's Mark Mark. Is it Mark? Okay. Mark 14. Yeah, it says two verses in Mark.
SPEAKER_01Yep, it says, and there followed him a certain young man having a linen cloth cast about his naked body, and the young men laid hold on him, and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Basically, what that means in English uh is essentially he's this random boy in a linen cloth shows up and he starts walking towards Jesus, and the Roman guards are like, Hey, who are you? Get out of here, and they go to like tackle him, essentially, and he rips out of his linen cloth and he runs naked in the woods. And it's such a weird ver two verses, because it's like it's literally like Mark being like, Oh yeah, and this happened, and that was really weird, and then he moves on. Like, and people are like, What is this? Yeah, well, here's the thing about the naked boy in Gesem the Garden of Gesemony and why it's so fascinating. So, first first thing is right before that is when the Roman guards ask him who he is, the order the the people that come to arrest him, to which he says, I am.
SPEAKER_01I am, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Which, if you go by the the ancient language at the time, that would have been God's name because God establishes that that was his name, yes, and the burning bush in the story of Moses, so he would have said God's name. Now, every time the only other time that it's said in the Bible was when was uh a couple times that his name has been said in the Bible. Yeah. And every single time, like a small earthquake happens. Yeah. And at even at the time, like early uh first century Judaism and house scribes, if if you were writing writing down something and you wrote God's name, the scribes would throw away that pen. Really? That pen and ink quilt because they believed that nothing, there's nothing greater that that writing material could have written. Yeah. So they immediately throw out the pen and they throw out the ink and all that stuff because they're like, it's done. And they go get new ones. Because there's nothing greater that it could write. That's how they that's how the mentality of these guys was at the time. Yeah. And so this happens. He says that there's a small earthquake. Yeah. It's like a little like the earth shakes.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's because the power that was.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the power of his name. Yeah. But I think that there was more than that. This is my this is where my tinfoil hat is on. If you can't see me, my tinfoil hat is on. You and I have never been to Israel.
SPEAKER_00Very true.
SPEAKER_04Personally. Correct. However, right next to the Garden of Gethsemane is a cemetery. There's a grave. There's graves right there. Right near the Garden of Gethsemane. Not that far. So, is it possible? And also, oh, more context. Do you know what ancient Judah Judas first century Jewish uh burial traditions were?
SPEAKER_00Tell me.
SPEAKER_04They would have buried him in nothing but a linen cloth.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. And the only time that in the Bible that you see mention of uh a line linen cloth um actually lies in I think Jesus' death burial, right?
SPEAKER_04Jesus' death, and I they don't mention it, but it all there's all always depictions of Lazarus having a linen cloth on as well. And like bandages and stuff.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, so basically saying that like the only time that you would have seen these linen cloths was when someone was dead.
SPEAKER_04When someone wasn't like what they buried you in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, some people like some I've heard different like uh articles of this, right? Like saying that like they think it was Mark like hopped out of bed and like tried to run and distract the guards and stuff. Like I think it's all it's all crazy. Like the linen cloth, like the answer to his identity lies in that cloth, bro.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And so people are like, so my conspiracy is there's a cemetery right there.
SPEAKER_01A heavily populated cemetery.
SPEAKER_04A heavy populated cemetery. He he said God's name. There was an earthquake.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I mean that the power that I am, like it biblically, like it tells us that knock the soldiers off their feet.
SPEAKER_04And not only that, it's the son of God saying it, so it had to have had more weight to it than like when Moses would have said it.
SPEAKER_01Hundred percent.
SPEAKER_04So is it possible that he said God's name and it was so powerful that it brought a boy back from the dead from that cemetery to where he then walked to the Garden of Gethsemane to meet the person who brought him back from the dead. Absolutely. To which then, before he can make contact with Jesus, the Romans chased him away. Yeah, absolutely fled into the woods. A hundred percent which is the yeah, so that's my conspiracy slash and a lot of scholars have talked about this. Yeah, there's a really there's a there's a Renaissance painting about it too, which is really weird. It's like there's a Renaissance painting of the naked articles. That's it's weird, yeah. Um, but it's my boy Gustavo Dore never did it, so yeah, that's my favorite painter, Gustave Dore. I love Gustave Dore. Anyway, um, shout out Gustave Dore. You're dead, but shout out if you can hear me. Uh gosh. Dude, anyway. Um yeah, that one's crazy because that that one took me down a huge rabbit hole. I would but yeah, I don't know which one I would replace it with, but he's up there, he's definitely up there.
SPEAKER_01He definitely has to be up there, yeah. Man, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I think that's like the I have a fifth person on my amount rough. Yeah, so do I. I think it's That's it right there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's my eh. I don't know, man. But that's that's a crazy story. And I mean it's it's really loaded. And I think a lot of people just read over it. Um but that man, that's true. That base um uh the Mount of Olives, like right at the base of Mount Olives cemetery. Heavily giant populated cemetery. Um, and the boy, I think he's resurrected, and then he he uh came to look for the one who resurrected, yeah. Yeah, and so he found like why am I still why am I alive again?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, bro. It's insane. And resurrections that happened during Jesus' time, man. I would love to see it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like well I just thought of I was thinking about resurrections earlier, too. Really? Um yeah, early earlier today, because it's like so in Jesus' lifetime, yeah, in the 33 years he was alive, there were three resurrections.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, if you don't count the 500 plus people when he resurrected.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I mean, like, once he resurrected, there were three, like from his birth to his death.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay, okay, yeah. So you have you have Lazarus.
SPEAKER_04You have Lazarus, you have the little girl, you have the girl, yeah, and then you have Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. It's not not counting the 500 some. Yeah. I count that after. Oh, absolutely. It's after his death. After his death. I understand. But I mean, like from his death to his death, there were three. And it's crazy to me, like, how in sequence they were. He raises the little girl first. That's the first one. And he tells people, don't say anything. Yeah. Even though people are gonna ask questions because this girl was dead, like and the town knew she was dead because there were wailing women very true. In so and like, and they're loud. Yeah. So people would have known. But he said, Don't say anything. And then so it's like a private one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Then a very, very public one very true in Lazarus. So it's like private, public, and then it's his resurrection, yeah, which is public but not seen. Well, and it's so so it's like seen but not public, yeah. Public and seen, public but not seen. Wow. And it's like it's it goes right to like people who had faith in the girl and who saw it. He only brought in the parents and three disciples who were not, I don't believe they were ever named on who they were. I believe probably Peter was one of them personally, because that was Jesus' right-hand man. Peter definitely went. Um, so they would have gone. Yeah. And then so it was like five people who knew because he kicked the wailing women out. So there was Jesus and five people in that room.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Seven people total, if you count the little girl. They did it, they talked about it, and but I don't think anybody really would have known until obviously until the town started asking questions. Yeah. Besides the people that were in that room and who wrote it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then Lazarus, everybody was in town, everybody in town was there by that point. Jesus wept, raised Lazarus from the dead. Very public, very like hard to deny what was going on. Some skeptics were obviously like Pharisees and stuff, were like, oh, Lazarus was never dead. That's they spun it. But then you have the resurrection of Jesus. Yeah. Which people again, they also spun it. But it's like it's all like it basically went faith public faith again. Wow. Is is crazy to think about.
SPEAKER_01It's an interesting thought.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. Anyway. Well. That's how my brain works. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, this was fun. First episode uh complete, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I would say that's a just solid first one. First episode. I don't even know how long we'll be recording. Uh it doesn't say. Um, great. Yeah. So God only knows. Guess we'll figure out when we publish it. But yeah, guys, thank you so much for listening. This has been uh this is a fun time. Uh I really think that there's something here. I think that we'll have some we'll have some fun. 100%. Uh have a lot of not not only fun, but I still think meaningful conversations as well. Which is kind of my what we what me and Cam here are striving for. Yeah. And uh I think that we end it just simply by saying, you know, Jesus loves you, man. Absolutely. If you're if you're struggling in your faith, if you also were a Sunday school dropout, you know, me and Cam came back, and Jesus would definitely welcome you back.
SPEAKER_01How do you think there's no soul too far gone that he cannot save? And if you're still breathing, you still got a shot.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Jesus loves you. We do too. Thank you for listening.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Until next time.
unknownBye bye.
SPEAKER_01Sunday school drapes.
SPEAKER_04Bye bye.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
