Good morning, loved ones. This is John Hubbard, all things God. I'm going to do a continuation on our study in Isaiah. I told you in Isaiah 41 10, the Lord said, Don't be afraid, don't be dismayed, don't get discouraged. I'm treating you like my children. But I am your God. Isaiah 48 10 is, I called you not refined as silver, but through the burness of affliction. And then Isaiah 53 10. It pleased him to bruise his son. Why? Because the bruising produces a disciplined, obedient child. Forsake not the Um says, Don't grow weary of the discipline of the Lord. It produces a a child who is obedient and submitted. And even the word says that Jesus learned obedience to the things that he suffered. So the suffering is the scourging that the Lord does. I don't know if you know what a scourging is, but a scourging is is a um a beating that will open the skin and create a valley. In other words, the skin gets torn and separated. That's a scourging. God's not angry at us. He's doing it because he loves us and he's drawing us closer. But according to the book of Matthew, when John the Baptist was talking about in chapter 3, John the Baptist said, I'm baptizing you with water, but there's one who's coming after me that was going to baptize you with the spirit and with fire. What is that fire? Now we've got fire in the book of Isaiah, and now we've got the fire in the book of Matthew. What is the fire? In our lives, there are things called wood, hay, and stubble. Wood, hay, and stubble are things that can be burned up. They're our own works, our own righteousness, our own filthiness, our own ideas and concepts about God that exist preconceived ideas, the trash that's been put in us since we were born. You know, we've been sucking on this tip our whole lives. Why? Because America is a Christian nation. So everybody goes to church. Or if they don't, they have at one time, that family members that go. The problem is it's been built wrong. So we've got to start over again. Anyway, this continuation of Matthew is we've done 41 10 and 48 10, 53 10 is it pleased him to bruise his son. Why? Because it it brought forth fruit of obedience. In Isaiah, I told you in chapters four and five, God is disciplining Israel and all is producing is bitter fruit. Why? Because they're rejecting the discipline of the Lord. Then he has to send in the Assyrians to topple everything. Why? Because they won't turn their hearts back towards God. And that's really what he wants. He wants them to turn their hearts back towards him. Because he loves them, he loves them like they're his children. And yet they just keep running after their own way. They won't, you know, they just won't listen and yield. So the fire, the furnace of affliction that he's calling us out of is a necessary step for us to get to know him and to produce obedience in us. And obedience is better than sacrifice. The sin of Adam is the sin of rebellion. The sin of Satan is the sin of rebellion. And so the sin of the church, of humanity, is rebellion. We're in a fallen state and we continue to do that. Why? Because we're letting our flesh rule and reign. We don't know yet how to control it. God counseled Cain, he said to him, Sin is perched at your door. You better master it, or that thing's gonna it's gonna just rule and reign your life. I'm gonna read that this afternoon, as a matter of fact, because that is that testament is a clear outline of what our walk is like until we meet Christ. And if you haven't been born again, you haven't met Christ. It doesn't matter if you've been going to church for 30 years. If you've not been born again, then you have not met Christ. You can't be born again by lifting up your hand and say, raise your hand, do you accept Jesus as your personal Savior? Raise your hand. That's called a profession of faith. That is not a born-again experience. Being born again can only be initiated by God. John 1.13 says it's not a decision that we make, it's a decision that he makes. So the profession of faith is a cheap imitation that the church has come up with. So in Isaiah, God is disciplining Israel like his children. Why? Because he's in love with them. He wants obedience out of them, and he's not getting it. You think he's going to treat the church any different? No, he's going to treat the church exactly the same way. So the fire's burning up all the dross, the wood, hay, and stubble. No, no, see, gold and silver are refined like that, but Isaiah 48 says that I didn't call you like I through as a wood silver. Why? Because the dross isn't the same as the wood, hay, and stubble. It's the wood, hay and stubble can only be purged from us by fire. That is the furnace of affliction. Okay, this isn't just the refinery's fire. This is the furnace of affliction. The refinery's fire is what you do with silver and gold. What God's doing with us is he's burning off the wood, hay, and stubble. He requires obedience from his sons. Why? Because where he's taking us, he's trying to save the world. Christ did his part. Now it's time for those. It says to as many as perceived and believed, gave you the power to become the sons of God. So our responsibility is different than that of Christ. But we still have to be obedient. And Jesus learned obedience to the things that he suffered. Alright, we'll pick up on this later. Bye. Thank you.
