When he approached Jesus, he believed wholeheartedly that his daughter would be healed. But then, a delay happened when a woman, also in need, interrupted.
This teaches us that delays don’t mean denial. Just like Jairus, we often feel like giving up when things don’t go as planned.
But remember: Jesus reminded Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe."
Your promise is still on the way!
What promises are you holding on to?

Good morning. Today, if you have not seen what I'm talking about, delay does not mean denial. How many of you, like me, are still waiting on a promise? And we've been waiting and waiting. And it's been so bad that you may even have just said, Oh, just forget about it. It wasn't for me. Or maybe I just didn't want it anyway and you keep on moving. Amen. Amen. Well, I want to share with you today a story that talks about that in the Bible. It's in found in Mark. And it's talking about a man named Jairus. If you don't know his story, we're going to learn it together today. Amen. I'm looking at is how he went to Jesus. And he prayed and he got into his presence so strong that he shifted Jesus to come in his direction to fill that need that he had. But during that journey to get the need fulfilled, delay occurred. And we're going to learn a little bit about what Jairus did in those moments and how in the end he did get his promise met. Okay? All right. So before I read, I wanted to say a quick prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank you, we praise you. Father, I ask that you speak on behalf of your word today. Reveal hidden things that we may not have seen. I decrease so you can increase in this moment. Lord, touch the one who really needs to hear this of what you got to say today. And we are so thankful that your presence is here. In Jesus' name. Amen. Alrighty. So I am reading out of Mark 5. I'm in the NIV version. And we're going to start with verse 89. Now, when I mean, excuse me, 21. Now, when this one is read, a lot of people just skip right on over Paul Lojaris and they go right to the woman that is bleeding for um 12 years, which is a very, very powerful story. But in the meantime, no one ever pays attention to how it began. And if we start, it says when Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders named Jairus came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. So that's how this story begins. Jesus comes into the room. Just like being in church, you know, when we praise and then we worship, and Jesus, he his presence is coming because he already says when two or more are gathered, he's going to be in the midst. So he comes in the room. But Jairus, who was already a synagogue leader, knew how to get Jesus' attention. He fell at his feet and he pleaded earnestly with him. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live. Now that to me is powerful because when Jairus fell at Jesus' feet, he came to him with the strongest belief saying, God, if you do this, I know she will. There's no ifs, ands, maybes or buts about it. If you come, Lord, she will be healed. Amen. Amen. So Jesus heard this and he went with him. When you are praying to God, and I'm just going everywhere, but when you pray to God, there is a way to get his attention. You humble yourself and you let him know who he is. And you let him know that your belief is so strong that if he does this, you know it will come to pass. And Jesus said, Okay, let's go. Let's go. So they start walking through, and they're going towards Jairus' house. And then a large crowd, because Jesus is in the land, they followed and they pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had. That's a whole nother subject, but we're not talking about her today. Yet instead of getting better, she got worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him to a crowd and touched his cloak because she thought, if I just touched his clothes, I will be healed. There's another person. When Jesus is in the midst and he's in the atmosphere, she went and humbled herself to touch his cloth. Same belief that if this, if I can touch him, I will be healed. And because of that strong, confident faith, Jesus, let's read. Immediately her bleeding stopped. And she felt it in her body, and she was freed from her suffering. This is really showing us how to go after God. And when you go after God, believe with certainty that He is who He is and that He will do it. Amen. And at once Jesus realized that the power had gone out of him, and he turned around the crowd and asked, Who touched my clothes? So before we continue on, I want to go back to who started this walk with Jesus? Who shifted him in this direction so that that other woman could even see him in the midst? He was head, he was standing by the lake. It wasn't until Jairus came and pleaded with him, my daughter is dying. I need you, God. That Jesus decided to go out on this path. But Jairus' promise then became delayed because another person came with the same amount of faith, touched his clothes, and she was healed. That it stopped Jesus in the midst of where he was going to find out who had that much strong enough faith that they grabbed what they needed from him without him even being in the midst to address her comments and questions. So you got Jairus that's over here, who was on a journey with Jesus, that they stopped. Not because Jairus had anything to do with it, because Jesus was now tending to something else. But yet his daughter is over here, and she is in the midst of dying. His promise, when it was coming, it has now got delayed. So I want you to keep that in mind as we continue to read. You see the people crowding around against you. His disciples answer, and yet you ask, Who touched you? So the disciples like, hey, I'll look at all these people around here. Of course you're being touched. What do you mean, who touched you? You're being touched all over. But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering. So while Jesus is dealing with her and speaking with her, you still got the situation going on with Jairus' daughter. You still got Jairus, who's still there with Jesus. He didn't plead with Jesus. Jesus, why are you messing with this woman who've been bleeding? She's been bleeding for 12 years. What a couple more days gonna do. My daughter, she's dying. Let's go, let's go. He didn't do any of that. He stayed with Jesus and didn't leave inside. And he stayed because I know he's already told me yes. He's already started moving in my direction. And my need is so great. And I know he will heal her and she will live if he touches her. So I ain't going nowhere. I don't care how long it's taking. I'm not leaving Jesus aside. So now I'm on verse 35. While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. There's a reason why they keep pointing out that he's a synagogue leader. Jesus is a wasting words. And I really was trying to dig into that before we got on live and I didn't get a chance. So I'm gonna go back and try to figure that one out. But let me keep reading. Your daughter is dead, they said. Why bother the teacher anymore? So I got a personal testimony. And like I'm sure many of you, I pray for a new house. I'm living in a temple, I don't want to call temper. I'm living in a home now. Nice home. But God promised me better. So I went and I pleaded, prayed and prayed. I got confirmation from God, yes, my daughter. This is the house I have for you. And he even showed me how the home is going to be a blessing to the community and just wonderful things. And this was probably about maybe two years ago. Might be a little bit longer. Anyhow, so I stood on faith. Jesus said yes. I went to Jesus. Jesus said yes, and he turned my direction. And I was like, yes, yes. I went out doing all the things you would do when it's time to get home. You know, you get the realtor, you get the loan, you go out looking for houses and all the fun stuff. And then you probably recall, I think I even went on Facebook Live one time talking about the Lord is gonna give me my home. Oh, yes, I did. And then during that same time, I was seeing friends, church members, neighbors moving, getting into their new homes. I was like, oh my gosh. I mean, it was like everybody would get new houses in that season. Everybody. And then I was like, okay, he dumb kick on my street, you know how we do it. And we we praise them for what everybody else is getting. And then I realized, I didn't I wasn't getting my house. And it's two years later, and I still haven't moved yet. And some of my promise got delayed to the point where, just like Gyrus, when the people came running out the house and it said, your daughter is now dead, why bother the teacher anymore? Whereas people are saying, Oh, I thought you were moving. Oh, you might as well stay where you're at. You know, you're good and never. I thought you was moving. You know, and it really, really, it really bothers you, and it really gets you to thinking, and it really, you know, some of those things is okay, I I just won't ask for it no more. And to be honest with you, I did stop asking for it. I did. And Jesus reminded me in a dream, um, don't give up the faith. Do you still believe? And I gave him an amen. And just like with Jairus, what Jesus did in Jairus' situation, when those people came out of the house, and I'm trying to go to where it was, overhearing what they said, Jesus turned to him and told him, Don't be afraid. Just believe. When you have a promise, and you know God said you can have it, and like my case, I was seeing everybody else getting home. God said, Don't be afraid, just believe. So in verse 37, he, we're talking about Jesus. He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead, but asleep. Your promise that you're waiting on for God. He's coming to let you know it's not dead. Just like my dream, he reminded me. Your home is still going to be there. Don't be afraid. I just need you to continue to believe. Amen. Amen. So after he put them all out, and I highlighted that. See, I had to highlight it. Because many times when we are holding on to a promise that seems to be taking forever to come to pass, you got many people that are not as strong in your faith. And when you are struggling to believe it to come to pass as well, you really don't need people around you saying it's not going to work. You're not going to move, Val. You're not going to get that house. You know, that's what I heard a lot. Why are you focusing on that house, that neighborhood, that street? You know, you can move next door, you can move over here. Why are you over there? You know, when you have all those people, just like when Jairus got home, he had a house full of people mourning and crying and wailing and saying, Leave that teacher alone. It's too late. She's already dead. The first thing God did is He put them all out. He wanted to make certain that Jairus continued to believe. You may even notice in your own personal situation how people that you used to talk to are now no longer to be found. And you're thinking it's something I did or something I said, or hey, I really like that person. Maybe God put them out because he needs you to continue to believe, to continue to focus. Amen. Amen. So after he put them all out, he took the child's father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and they went to where the child was. He told her, he took her by her hand and said to her, Tabitha Kenon, which means little girl, I say to you, get up. I think what touched me out of that verse is he took her by the hand. Now God, Jesus just said, God, Jesus, he just told everybody she's asleep, she's not dead. You know what that tells me? That tells me that when Jairus first came to Jesus when he was by the lake, and he came to Jesus and said, Lord, hear my cry. I need you, my daughter needs you, because she's dying. And at that moment, when Jesus said, Yes, I'll go with you. This is just Val's interpretation. But I believe he already went ahead of Jairus. And he already did what Tabitha needed. So that way he can come back and say, She's just asleep. Amen. Amen. So now how long it, no matter how long it took for Jesus to arrive at Jairus' house. Now, if there wasn't a crowd that was slowing him down, if the woman with the bleeding issue didn't come and get her healing, he would have been there a lot sooner. But our God knows all and he sees all. And as long as we don't be afraid and keep believing, he said, Don't worry, Jairus. She's just asleep. So I need you not to be afraid, and I need you to believe. Amen. Immediately. I'm in verse 42. The girl stood up and began to walk around. She was twelve years old. At this time, they were completely astonished. Another thing that stood out to me in that moment was God in his journey towards Jairus' house. Jairus's promises was delayed. Good morning, Tyra. How you doing, love? Jairus in the midst of his house with Jesus. And he was delayed with the woman with the bleeding issue. Now, why is the Bible pointing out that she dealt with that bleeding issue for 12 years? And the young, the daughter that just got up. She was 12 years old. Hey Angie, good morning. Good morning, guys. Love you both. Ah, Angie, what does the number 12 mean? I forgot. Tell me what the number 12 means, because there's something there with that number 12. So, what I want to tell you is if you have a promise from God, and you have been delight, government. Oh, yeah, that's right. Ooh, authority. Yes. I'm not going there. That's a whole nother thing. Law. Thank you, Tyra. Law, government. Yes, yes, yes. Thank you, thank you. We won't go there today because we'll be here another 20 minutes because I can already hear where that's going. But if you have a promise that you are waiting on God, and you know God said yes to it, and you have even seen him in the mist, amen. But you got delayed. It hasn't came to pass yet. What is you say connect the dot? I'm trying not to go there. Oh, blessings. Blessings, Letitia. How are you doing? Blessings, my sister. Oh. So if you have a promise like Jairus, Jairus went after his and pleaded with God. He had a desperate, desperate situation. His daughter was dying. That is urgent by all means. What did Jairus do when he saw that he was his promise was being delayed? What did he do? He never left Jesus' side. He didn't run home. He didn't break down. He didn't even plead with God. Jesus. Come on, why are we dealing with this woman right now? You know, she my daughter, she's dying. Jesus, come on. Leave Jesus alone. He already told me yes. He didn't do none of that. He waited patiently. He was quiet. But he stayed in the presence of God. And even when the naysayers came and said, it's dead, it's not coming to pass. Why bother Jesus on this when it already is done? He instantly, God instantly squashed it before his mind could have gone to the left. And he looked directly at Jairus and said, Don't be afraid. Keep believing. So whatever you were waiting on, let me tell you what I do. I have a stone. And if you know the story of Joshua, and when they uh when the Lord um allowed them to cross over the Jordan River, if you know the story, um the Ark of the Covenant with the Levites went in front of the people, and as they stepped in the waters, the waters stopped, so that way they had dry ground to walk on. And then they all walked over to the other side. And before the Ark of the Covenant left the waters or the dry ground, he told each one to grab 12 stones. Each tribe grab one stone, so that would be 12 stones. And the stone represents a memory of what just passed. So when generations come back and they see the stones, they can be reminded what God had done for them back then. And that he is the same God from yesterday, today, and forevermore. So I have, I have, I have one, two, I think I have four or five stones. I can't remember. Five stones. Each stone, I don't know if you can see it, but this one in particular, I write on my stones. This one is faith. And I hold on to this stone. And this stone reminds me, my beautiful sister Tracy's here. Hey Tracy, I know she's got her stones too. But this stone reminds me to keep my faith, to believe, and to not be afraid. Because of the promise that God has made for me. Because of the many promises that He has already fulfilled for me. I've shared with some of you guys my testimonies about my sons and getting into good schools and only God did it. And how, you know, it's just so many to talk about. So I used my stone, just like the children of Israel when they crossed over the Jordan River, how they grabbed those stones. To always be reminded of what God does have done already for me. That's how I keep the faith. That's how I continue to believe. And I say out loud, delay does not mean denial. I will see my house. And it will be in that neighborhood that me and Jesus talked about. And it will be a blessing to the community and all the promises he made for me. I don't know, I gotta have to adjust to that. That might be why I ain't in there yet. That's a separate conversation. So I wanted to leave you all with some encouragement today. I wanted to remind you of what God has already done for you. I want to remind you that you already got his attention and that he already told you yes. For something along the way, that Jesus was coming to your house. It's like he was going to Jairus' house. He got turned. For whatever reason, we don't know. His thoughts are not our thoughts, his ways are not our ways. But do like Jairus did in those moments. You stay in his presence. You don't leave him, you know, say, oh man, God ain't gave it to me yet. I'm gonna go get it myself because it gotta get done. Mm-mm. Jairus didn't run back home trying to do CPR on his daughter or trying to give her some something or whatever. He stayed by Jesus' side. Amen. Amen. So I hope this blessed you. I hope you recognize that your delay is not denial, especially when God stays with it. That's right. Stick and stay. I like that. I hope this encouraged you. I hope it blessed you. I hope it reminds you that your promise will come to pass. What does it say in Mark? Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around. At this, they were all completely astonished. Maybe God has delayed it for that point in that time that when it comes immediately, everyone's gonna be like, oh my gosh, I didn't think she was gonna get it. Oh my gosh, it was dead, but it was now alive. Remember, God does things for the goodness of his glory. So that when he blesses you, everyone else around you might be, oh my gosh, he really is the one and truly only God. I gave up a long time ago. I don't know how she still did. Amen. Amen. So what do you use to keep your faith intact? What do you do? I'm curious. What do you do when when when you still know you are still waiting and it looks like you just may not get it? What do you do? Like I said, I got I got my stone. I hold on to it tight. God, I know you're coming through. I'm holding on to my faith. I'm holding on to my faith. What do you guys do? But I love you and I thank you for watching. Let me pray. Heavenly Father, I thank you. I praise you. I give you glory. Thank you, Lord, for reminding us that delay does not mean denial. That when you set it out in your word, it will come to pass at the appointed time. And when that time comes, it's going to be immediate. Father, I ask that as Jesus prayed for Peter, that his faith doesn't get lost, I pray here for everyone here. That as they are still continuing to hold on to that promise by any means necessary sometimes, Lord, that they are not afraid and that they keep believing. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Alrighty. Well, thank you so much for watching. I'm so glad you got to tune in. My name again is Val Mitchell. If you watch this for the first time, if this is the first time you see it, let me know. I want to say hello to you. If not, or if you're catching me on the replay, I'm so glad you took the time to watch me. If you feel this word is going to be a blessing to someone, share it. Don't be stingy. Send it out. Let's encourage and keep everyone that we love up and remind them who our God is. And even though we may not have seen it today, but we know it's coming. And it's going to come at its appointed time. Amen. Amen. So I catch you here next Saturday at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, unless the Lord says something different. And I pray you enjoy the rest of your Saturday. All right. I love you guys. Have a good day. Bye bye.
