Welcome to Producer's Chair. This is a bi-weekly show where I interview people from all over the world who making music in their homes. I ask questions about their creative process, the tools they use and skills they're developing. We listen to a couple of their music pieces and get an understanding of what goes into those. The best parts are when I leave the script behind and we start hearing the interesting stories that make these individuals truly unique.

Hi, I’m Steve Swisher, host of Producer’s Chair podcast.

When I started putting the idea for this podcast together I knew I wanted to make a show that gave a spotlight to music makers who usually worked in the shadows. 

People, like myself, who spent long hours composing, recording, editing and mixing musical pieces that only their ears may ever hear.

I started to interview these producers and have conversations about their gear, creative processes and musical goals.

I wanted to know what inspired them to start this journey. What motivated them to keep developing their craft in an era where the dominance of AI has made artistic skills go largely unrecognized.  

As I talked with more producers from all over the world I began to hear something else. There was something deeper and more meaningful being said. 

We all used different equipment, different methods of working and completely different styles of music but we had a lot of the same things in common. 

We all had a deep passion for creating that wasn’t driven by a desire for fame or financial success.

Many of us shared a lot of the same mental health and substance abuse struggles throughout our lives.

Our music was an expression of something deep inside us that had to have an outlet.

I began to realize I wasn’t making a show about music production. 

The show was about the people who make producing music their lives.
