And so we had the Franciscan friars come in and they prayed over John Paul and uh with such boldness, uh one friar he he prayed, he said, you know, we just rebuke this cancer, we renounce it in the name of Jesus, and we pray that God would just melt the cancer. And you know, I'm standing there at the foot of the hospital bed, kind of, you know, humbled of like, wow, these men are praying with more authority over my son's illness than than I was as a dad. You know, I was praying for strength and you know, healing if it be God's will. And they just rolled in, they're like, nope, this ain't happening. And it's like, okay, then the you know, praying that the cancer be melted. And then the next day they they inserted a port into his chest through which they would administer the chemotherapy, and then they did a biopsy of one of the masses. And when they opened the biopsy, the surgeons, you know, were surprised, and they met with us right after and they said we opened up, you know, the mask and they said it was it was liquefied. And they said we need to at this point reverse our diagnosis. That whereas we had told you that with 99.9% certitude this is cancer, they said we now have to reverse that. And they said it's it's it does not appear to be the case. And that when the pathology comes back, we'll have a better idea of what's going on. And it turned out he had something called valley fever, coccidioidomycosis, which is a severe fungal infection, but a heck of a lot better than cancer. And while we were going through all of this, a Paul J. Kipp, his son, uh, was you know, Micah was in the hospital terminally ill and would eventually pass away. And Paul and his wife Maggie were messaging us back and forth in the hospital because we're there as two dads at the same time in different hospitals, and they were offering up their suffering for I mean, this one of the Franciscan friars in particular who was praying his, you know, has gifts of healing, and these types of signs have happened before uh through his intercession. And he was a former drug addict, totally turned his life around, became not a priest, but just a brother of a Franciscan friar, and just such a simple guy, and he serves the poor. And yeah, I mean, you'd never know what type of gifts God could give a particular person. And but yeah, just the boldness of, you know, a lot, not a lot, I think, in today's age is given in a sense, because we don't have the faith to even ask for it. I mean, you you read of the faith of the people who had miracles in the gospels, like they were so sure, you know, just say the word and my my kid's gonna be healed. You just come. All I gotta do is touch the tassel. Like they had such certitude of faith that with boldness they asked and they received. And so, like, was it a misdiagnosis? Was it a miracle? All I say is yes. You know, I'm totally fine with both of those things. All I know is it was an answer to prayer. And if God answered our prayer through a serious misdiagnosis, praise be to God. But it is interesting that the friar was using that language, like we pray it's melted. And then the first thing the surgeon said is it was liquefied. And so, you know, now if the church were to investigate this, like for example, for a miracle for the canonization of a saint, they would meticulously look at it and say, could there be any natural explanation whatsoever to explain this except for the intervention of divine providence? Could it be explained any other way? And scientifically, you could say, well, yeah, it could be explained another way that there was this alternate diagnosis of valley fever, which sometimes mimics the symptoms of lymphophoma, and the surgeon vastly overestimated his certitude that it was canceled. You could go down that road, you know, but all I know is that God answered our prayers.

So in the name of the Father, Son, the Holy Spirit, Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, Sovereign King and throne in heaven, in your love and mercy, I ask that you establish a perimeter of protection which will precious blood around our communication, devices, and all technology we use and own our phones and cell phones, computers, tablets, and other devices. The cameras or webcams, microphones, speakers, displays, any and all software. Wi-Fi connection in the air, both my router and the router of the of the people we are communicating with. Doctic cables involved in the transmission of data and the light waves being used to transfer data. Cleanse them with your personal blood and drive from them any satanic influence. I ask that you establish around them a sanctuary of your mercy, where Satan and any other evil spirit or human agency cannot interfere. I ask Father that you will block, bind, rebuke, and render impotent any assault of the evil one from them in any way. Father, so long as this instrument is utilized, we ask you to allow them to enjoy the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Carlo Achutis, Saint Michael the Archangel, and all of the holy angels. We ask this in your name, the name be before which every knee shall bow in heaven on the earth and under the earth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Amen. In the name of the Father, Son, the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. So welcome, brother Jason Evert. Thank you so much. Oh, glad that you died. It's always been uh a blessing for all of us hearing you and telling us your your your at boss, your mission. And today, uh, very exciting because you will share to us a very uh heartfelt and miraculous story that happened in your family.

Uh well, it's it's mutual. I've been out there, I think, f five or six times now. And whenever I get to see it on the calendar, I'm always always always happy that the the faith of the Philippine community is so humbling to see walking into those adoration chapels and seeing everyone barefoot and just with such love for the blessed sacrament. It's a it's a real inspiration for us out west here.

Your voice has always uh been relevant in in today's culture, especially in what we see in uh in our society, how things getting worse. I mean, in in in different ideology, but uh you are there standing for truth, standing for uh what is right. What's the truth teaching about those things, is especially in sexuality, and we're so grateful for that, brother Jason.

Yeah, it's it's been a real encouragement out here to see the as far out as the pendulum has swung into the sexual revolution, it's really starting to swing back and swing back like a wrecking ball. I mean, things are changing out here in the United States. For example, this week, a young girl who was advised by her doctors to surgically transition to this, you know, male gender, um, uh, got a double mastectomy, sued the doctors now that she realized that that was not how to take care of the issues I had. And she won the lawsuit, two million dollar lawsuit. She won. And this is the I think the beginning of domino is starting to fall out here of realizing this is not gonna meet the standard of care. This girl didn't even want to become a guy, she just wasn't comfortable as being a girl because of how objectified she was by the culture. And so to tell her, oh, well, you need a surgery and then you're gonna be good, that falls way below the standard of care. And so she was awarded $2 million. So as these things start to shift within the courts and financially the doctors realize this is not worth the risk to bite off on this ideology, things are gonna change. And so I know sometimes America leads with some really bad ideas, and then the fallout hits here. Before it does, a lot of times other countries follow in suit of oh, this is the what we should do. But I think we're a good indication, a kind of a canary in the coal mine is an expression out here. You know, when that thing dies, it's a sign something is gonna come.

Yeah. Are you talking about Chloe Cole, uh brother?

SPEAKER_04 7:37

No, no. Chloe Cole was uh it has gone through the same thing, but it wasn't her lawsuit, it's another girl's as well. So Chloe says, you know, this is this is a pretty good indication of the direction her lawsuit is gonna go in as well.

Uh uh Chloe Cole is a Filipina. Do you know that? A brother?

SPEAKER_04 7:52

Is she? Uh, I didn't know that. No, and I know I know her and had her on the podcast, but that that's awesome.

Yeah, she is a Filipina. I got a chance to interview her, and she revealed that she is a Filipino. Oh, cool. I also watched your interview with her, so that that is that is very mind-blowing and revealing.

And brother Jason, let's uh now talk about what happened to your family recently. So, what was the strongest moment of fear as a father when you heard the lymphoma diagnosis on Christmas Eve?

SPEAKER_04 8:27

Hey everyone, we wanted to reach out with very important prayer requests uh we found out on Christmas Eve that our son John Paul has been diagnosed with lymphoma, and so uh this upcoming Monday he's gonna begin his cancer treatment, and so we just wanted to storm heaven and ask your intercession for our family uh and for his healing and for the for the doctors.

Just pray for him, please, and pray for our family during this time, and just we know God's will be done in all things, and we accept um everything that God asks, good and bad. But thank you for your prayers in advance, and know that we will be praying for you as well.

All word be God, the Father, the Son, Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Well without end. Amen. Yeah, so back in November we knew something was going on, wasn't quite sure, took John Paul to the pediatrician, and they were concerned and said, Well, I want to get an x-ray, let's get an ultrasound. And after those results came in, it's like, okay, we need to do a CT scan, we need to do a blood draw. And with each test coming in, it became more and more worrisome. And then we finally got the PET scan, and the doctor said, Okay, when this these results come back, we'll we'll have a pretty clear idea. Um, and so he called me on Christmas Eve and said, you know, John Paul does have stage two Hodgkin's lymphoma, so cancer of the lymphatic system. And he said, so he's got one growth on his neck, kind of the size of an orange, and then two more in his chest that were smaller. We need to bring him in. And so the day after Christmas, we came to the hospital and he kind of walked us how chemotherapy is going to work and through that whole process. Then Monday, John Paul was admitted to the hospital after Christmas. And to begin everything, but the day he came to the hospital, we brought in the Franciscan friars of the Holy Spirit and they prayed over John Paul. And I remember when when I told Kristalina the news as soon as I had got off the phone with the oncologist that John Paul had cancer, you know, she, you know, I was holding her and she was crying. And the first thing she said was, Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. And it was like, what a beautiful response of faith. No matter where where this road's gonna lead, God's gonna be glorified through it one way or another. And he was. And so we begged on social media for people to pray for John Paul in the situation, and just the response that came in globally was so overwhelming. We had groups from you know the Philippines, from India, from everywhere saying, hey, we're we're storming heaven for you. And so we had the Franciscan friars come in and they prayed over John Paul and uh with such boldness, that one friar he prayed, he said, you know, we just rebuke this cancer, we renounce it in the name of Jesus, and we pray that God would just melt the cancer. And so the mystery of all of this happening at the same time, of the Kim's going through what they were and John Paul, you know, there was just beauty behind this of God's providence. I mean, John Paul J. Kim's posts were seen by more than 90 million people. Uh, I mean, even the Kardashians were watching this thing. It was on People magazine, US Weekly, Fox News, and so many people inspired by the faith of their family. And they were definitely an inspiration to our family as well.

Well, so what did you learn about praising God even in the biggest cross, brother Jason?

SPEAKER_04 13:01

Yeah, Paul and I were talking back and forth of just the fact that when you're going through that much suffering, I mean, it's so thick. Like you wake up, it's there, and every moment of the day is just weighing on your heart. The, you know, the sight of, you know, your kid in an oncology ward, and then there goes a kid down the hallway with no hair in a wheelchair, you know, being pushed, you know, by his parents down the hallway. And it's just like, okay, that's that that's gonna be us in a couple weeks. And who knows what chemo's gonna do to our son's body, and just just surrendering that God. And it's it's hard not to pray because at every moment it's just weighing on you. And sometimes you don't even know what to say, but you're just presenting that to God and and being with him in that suffering instead of needing to have an answer right away of just being like, God, you know what you're doing, we don't. And so it was very, very humbling as a couple that does a lot of public ministry, and we're doing this for the church, and we're doing that in the church, to be in a more of a receptive mode of receiving the gifts of the church of their powerful intercession, uh, was certainly a lesson in humility, of faith, of trust in God's providence, of the power of redemptive suffering. I mean, there were so many lessons to be learned along the way.

You mentioned the Franciscan friars prayed with great boldness, belt the cancer. What did you feel hearing that prayer?

SPEAKER_04 14:18

Yeah, I mean, this one of the Franciscan friars in particular who was praying, his you know, has gifts of healing, and these types of signs have happened before uh through his intercession. And he was a former drug addict and totally turned his life around, became not a priest, but just a brother, uh Franciscan friar, and just such a simple guy. And he serves the poor. And yeah, I mean, you'd never know what type of gifts God could give a particular person. And but yeah, just the boldness of, you know, a lot, not a lot, I think, in today's age is given in a sense, because we don't have the faith to even ask for it. I mean, you you read of the faith of the people who had miracles in the gospels, like they were so sure, you know, just say the word and my my kid's gonna be healed. You just come. All I gotta do is touch the tassel. Like they had such certitude of faith that with boldness they asked and they received. And I think so often we're like, Well, I don't want to bother asking in case it's not going to happen because I don't want to be disappointed, so I wouldn't even bother asking. But it was just a real lesson of just like, no, it's okay to be bold in your faith. I mean, a little child when they're shopping with their dad in a store for like some gift, the dad was like, Whatever, what a gift you want? You know, they wouldn't be like, Well, I'll have that two dollar toy at the bottom of the shelf. Like, I want that big one up there on the shelf because they knew their father could reach it and it delights the heart of the father. And so now that that being said, I mean, sometimes I mean you look at Paul J. Kim and his wife, you know, they were pay praying with boldness for a miracle uh for little Micah's healing. And and God, God saw fit in his providence not to answer those prayers because now the amount of miracles that have happened through this entire thing, not only like nurses in the hospital coming back to their faith. There was a parent in the hospital of Paul J. Kim who decided to baptize their baby uh based upon seeing the faith of Paul J. Kim and his wife, not to mention many things that appear to be miracles coming in through the intercession, perhaps, of uh young little Mike, people having dreams. I saw this Asian boy appear in my dream, and he was with Padre Pio, and then my tumor went away, and then I saw your post, and I'm like, that's the kid I saw in my dream. All these amazing things happen. So just to have the faith that to pray with boldness and should God fulfill your hopes and prayers, praise be to God. But should God see fit for you to allow to continue to experience a particular suffering? Just have the great boldness of faith knowing that God will bring an even greater good out of that particular suffering.

In this book, I address a very particular and somewhat impressive topic because I talk about those angels who rebelled against God, not wanting to be subjected to him as creatures, but wanting to be as led by Lucifer or Satan, in the sense they are evil angels, and were then uh punished by God, because for them there is eternal damnation in the sense they do not want to convert, they have their own reasoning, it is God who is wrong, they must be served by God in order that they serve God. And this outrage to the divine majesty is so grave that it is no longer forgivable, not in the sense that God does not want to forgive them, but because they believe they are right and thus they do not have in this sense, however, they have uh uh three fundamental limits in their evil actions in the world. The first is the sovereign superiority, the lordship of God. God is the creator, the Lord, so they must adhere to what he desires. The second is our free will. If we are willing to follow the path of good, not the one of evil as they suggest, then we can be assured that they cannot do anything against our refusal. The third limit is the cross of Christ, in which Jesus sacrificing himself on the cross for our salvation and redemption, has also freed us from every evil power, therefore we can be at peace. However, it is necessary to know them because if we do not know them, and many today even deny them, unfortunately, we remain uh sometimes trapped in their deceptions, because they are quite intelligent, cunning, even if they repeat themselves, because they have a very dark, very shadowy life, and we must in this way uh to see their cunning, the temptations they can direct towards us, which is their most common attack. But sometimes they also have attacks of possession, which is the most serious situation, but also of obsession, which disturb the psyche, and also many uh physical realities that can disturb the health of the body. So, in this sense, uh they operate a lot in this particular period in which we live, their tremendous action is noticeable because we live in a society and also within the church, a truly negative reality, sometimes dark, distressing, disorienting, and above all infernal. Therefore, I recommend this reading to you because the book is written very simply, clearly, but briefly contains everything one might want to know about these unhealthy figures, but they do not overpower us because God wins, because God will, but also is incredible wins, and the Holy Spirit, the enemy wins and above all there is the presence of Mary, they are afraid of her the seed of the woman, which is Christ, and the seed of the serpent, and the seed of the woman, the head of the serpent, the aid of the devil. Anyway, happy readings and reading confidence and may the blessing of the Lord who frees us from all evil come upon you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Do you think, Brother Jason, that this is a spiritual warfare that is happening? Because you you guys are in the front line and battling this woke ideology. So do you think this is a spiritual warfare, uh brother?

SPEAKER_04 20:49

Well, I think spiritual warfare is always a reality, spirits of retaliation and retribution against the things that they try to do for God. I mean, you know, our our ministry of trying to bring souls back to God, especially in the realm of purity. I mean, our lady of Fatima said that more souls go to hell uh for sins of impurity than any other sin. And if that's the reality and that's the focus of our ministry, obviously it's gonna agitate the evil one. And so, because this whole thing happened with John Paul, I wasn't able to speak at the Sikh conference out here that had 16,000 people. I wasn't able to bring them, and so I was kind of like, oh man, I wasn't able to reach 16,000 people, but God's like, Oh, oh, don't you worry. And as a result of our post, three million people saw that post about John Paul. So I'm getting woken up about 16,000 that I can't do in person and get all that personal accolades. God's like, sit tight, you know, we got this one. And so I think we need to understand in terms of spiritual warfare. The devil, I think it was Padre Pio said, is like a dog on a chain. You know, he can't go outside of a particular realm. And so if he's got that many links in the chain, it's just because God's allowing him that much freedom. Right. And so we could look at the crucifixion. Crucifixion and be like it was a spiritual attack. Well, yeah, you know, and the devil thought that that was a win. Hey, we killed him. I mean, you talk about the greatest miscalculation in human history, thinking the crucifixion was a win for the devil, but God is always able to allow uh particular evils and suffering to bring a broader a greater good. So I think we just need to be careful about not giving the devil too much credit, but to realize that God can orchestrate so much good even through this evil that we might be suffering. And even, you know, the sun shines on the good people and the bad, you know, evil people get flat tires, good people get flat tires. Like suffering's gonna be a part of human life. And so we need to be careful not to think that like the devil's behind absolutely everything. Realize that no, God's the one who's behind absolutely everything, and he can use any suffering for his glory.

Absolutely, uh brother. And what did you feel when the doctor said there was no cancer at all?

SPEAKER_04 23:00

Oh, obviously, it was just like I mean, the shift within that 24-hour period of like, okay, who we are, here we are. John Paul's going into surgery, and you know, and it was a difficult surgery as well. They accidentally cut his jugular vein and had to bring in a vascular surgeon, and it was just just so much just chaos and difficulty. But then when they were like, we probably need to reverse our diagnosis, but we're not gonna know for sure. And so it's not like they came through with an a hundred percent no right away. They were just they were kind of perplexed, and you know, in one instance they seem so clear, and here's the diagnosis, and then the next minute it's like, what is that? And so, like, was it a misdiagnosis? Was it a miracle? All I say is yes. You know, I'm totally fine with both of those things. All I know is it was an answer to prayer. And if God answered our prayer through a serious misdiagnosis, praise be to God. But it is interesting if the friar was using that language, like we pray it's melted. And so, you know, now if the church were to investigate this, like for example, for a miracle for the canonization of a saint, they would meticulously look at it and say, could there be any natural explanation whatsoever to explain this except for the intervention of divine providence? Could it be explained any other way? And scientifically, you could say, well, yeah, it could be explained another way, that there was this alternate diagnosis of valley fever, which sometimes mimics the symptoms of lympho. And the surgeon vastly overestimated his certitude that it was canceled. You could go down that road, you know, but all I know is that God answered our prayers. And, you know, instead of getting chemotherapy, John Paul a couple days later went home and, you know, went to a college football game with his grandpa. And so, you know, we're not out of the woods yet. It's still gonna be quite a road dealing with this other illness that he does have. But I I do know we we stormed heaven along with hundreds of thousands or millions of other people, and I think heaven's inbox kind of got full and like, okay, enough already. We got other petitions to take care of. Like, here, go home. You know, John Paul's fine. And so all I know has how grateful I am to God and for all those people who interceded for us.

But I'm more convinced this is a miracle, rather. Yeah. Yeah. For parents who are afraid of their child's illness, what advice do you give on trusting God's plan while still hoping for healing?

SPEAKER_04 25:21

Yeah. One is just to know that God is with you in the midst of this, know whatever direction this is gonna go. And life is short for all of us. I mean, we we we cling on to it, you know, so dearly, like this is the only thing we ever have. But if anything, the awareness of our mortality should spur us to one thing, which is as John Paul II said, to arrange your life in such a way that everything praises God. That's how we ought to live. As if Christ died yesterday, he rose today, and he's coming back tomorrow. And if we can get into that zone, then we can live as God's calling us to live with that joy and appreciation. I I mean, I tell you, when I came home from the funeral of Michael Kim, uh or Micah Kim, and I was there with Paul and Maggie, and uh came home from Micah's funeral, the way that I just hugged my own six-year-old son when I got home, the the appreciation and the delight that I have of him and our other we have eight kids all together, the the suffering should spur us to greater gratitude, greater love, uh, a greater rejection of times of wasted idleness and resentment and bitterness and unforgiveness and all the things that we need to leave behind to follow in the footsteps of Christ. So God sometimes brings our mortality before our eyes in order to increase our capacity to love. And so suffering can make you bitter or it can make you better. And the choice ultimately is ours.

What is the biggest message you want to share in our viewers right now about the power of prayer, redemptive suffering and God's mercy in our time?

SPEAKER_04 26:57

Yeah, well, that just that that every form of human suffering, when joined to the cross, takes on the actual power of the cross. And so Jesus didn't suffer so we wouldn't have to suffer, Jesus suffered so we'd know how to suffer, because in becoming man, Christ redeemed everything human human love, human labor, even human suffering. And so this is why the church is called the body of Christ. It's not some like the religious metaphor, but rather that the church is an extension of the person of Jesus Christ throughout time, space, and history. And so he continues his work of redemption in his suffering body, which is your cancer, your unemployment, your alcoholic spouse, your difficult child who left the face. Every form of human suffering has value in it if we offer that up as a prayer. And so it's almost like you have crushed grapes. Okay, well, you could have wine there, you know, so don't spill the wine. There's value in that. And so to have suffering in your life and not to offer that up for something and not realize its value, it's almost like having a winning lottery ticket in your hand, but you're illiterate. You don't know what those numbers mean. It must be like a receipt. You throw it away. Like so much value squandered because you didn't know how to read it. And so I remember there was a Mother Teresa gave a talk on just how what a gift that suffering can be and how much value there is. And it's a gift God gives to those who love him, and the blah. And this very apparently affluent man came to Mother Teresa after the talk and said, you know, it's very beautiful how you spoke about suffering and how valuable it is. But he said, I don't really have any suffering in my life. You know, what what do you think about that? And mother could be really blunt, and she said, Well, maybe Jesus thinks you don't deserve it. Meaning not as a punishment, but that he's extended this gift to you and you've done everything to just avoid it and reject it and to live a life of absolute comfort. Instead of realizing God is present with me in this suffering, and together with him, we can bring good out of it. And so Mother Teresa was a straight shooter. I know a priest who said he could only afford to see her once a year. He said, because it would take you that long to recover after having seen her. Like she would let you have it. And so just to realize, whether it's just a little hangnail or the death of a spouse, like every form of suffering takes on the value of the cross. That's why Theresa Vlasie said that suffering, grat gladly born for others, converts more people than sermons. And so if you look on YouTube and you see Father Mike Schmitz and you see this, Father Leo, and you see this, all these great evangelists doing all their wonderful work, and all I wish I could be like Matt Fratt or you or this doing. It's like in this life, they they'll get the attention. They will, and they're doing great work for souls. But the people with the the fanciest mansions up in heaven are the names you'll never have known in this life that just knew how to offer up their sufferings and to be with Christ through that. Those are the heavy hitters. I mean, when John Paul became Pope, the first thing he did was went to the Vatican hospital and said to the patients, I'm entrusting the church to you. It's like you know, going to another bishop who's suffering, saying, I'm a debtor to you. Basically saying the this is the front lines of the church redemptive suffering. Because Jesus didn't save anybody on the Sermon on the Mount, He saved them all on Calvary. So we just need to take that from.

Yeah, that's why uh we love our Catholic faith because we embrace the cross, we embrace our suffering every single day. And brother Jason, uh last maybe last uh question and how to be stay faithful in these times of confusion and ambiguity in in our times right now. There's so many confuse. So how's how to be faithful Catholics now, uh, brother?

SPEAKER_04 30:45

You know, just trust the church, it's been around for 2,000 years for a reason, and it's not because every shepherd is perfect, it's because the the one true shepherd of Christ. The whole longevity of the church rests on his promise uh that he's gonna remain with us until the end of time, that he will not abandon us. And so if you're disappointed in church leaders or scandalized by this or that, just realize our faith is not in men, it's in God. But he gave us this church so we could have peace and trusting its authority to lead us. I mean, the scriptures tell us in First Peter the church is the pillar and foundation of truth. You can hang your hat on that. And so be at peace. And and in your own life, don't spend too much time in yesterday or tomorrow, whether you're anxious about the future or regretful about the past. That's where the devil wants you. What if this is gonna happen in the church? And I can't believe that happened in the church. And what if this never happened? Like, get out of those places, like the present moment. You don't even know if you get tomorrow. And so the Holy Spirit, sanctity, it's all in the present moment. So can you handle between now and the time you get to bed, just living the way that God wants you to live? That's all you got to do because none of us are even promised tomorrow. So just live in the present moment, trust in the church, and be at peace.
