oppression, he did time, did time, I guess not like that, but spent time in South Africa, in the apartheid, the racism, the discrimination, the materialism, the ability for the Christians in his day after Jesus rose from the dead and he, you know, began to set this little band of followers to go proclaim this good news. 00:06:25.759 --> 00:06:27.279 They weren't called Christians. 00:06:27.680 --> 00:06:28.800 That wasn't their name. 00:06:29.279 --> 00:06:31.199 In fact, they were called the way. 00:06:31.839 --> 00:06:37.199 And the reason is they were followers of the way of Jesus. 00:06:50.639 And it was as this gospel was spreading, it moved to this town called Antioch. 00:06:50.959 --> 00:07:02.319 Antioch, second to Rome in influence, uh in affluence, in diversity, in impact in the ancient world. 00:07:02.720 --> 00:07:04.160 The gospel took root here. 00:07:04.240 --> 00:07:05.519 I mean, it just spread. 00:07:05.680 --> 00:07:13.680 And Antioch was the very first, think about this is amazing, the very first multicultural church in human history. 00:07:14.399 --> 00:07:22.720 And as it took root there, the Antiochians, they began to call these followers of the way 00:07:31.439 --> 00:07:34.319 It means little Christ. 00:07:35.600 --> 00:07:52.319 They looked at these people that claimed they followed this rabbi who was executed on a Roman cross and then rose cheek, not because of their care and concern for the poor and the press, uh, oppressed, not because they're living out a sacrificial love, not because of any of those things, not because they're After Jesus rose from the dead, before he ascended to heaven, he spent a little over 40 days with the disciples. 00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:33.759 He appeared to over 400 eyewitnesses. 00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:37.519 He gave his disciples what we call today the Great Commission. 00:09:37.919 --> 00:09:47.200 And the Great Commission was what the disciples were doing in Antioch that caused the Antiochians to call them little Christ. 00:09:47.360 --> 00:09:52.399 And it is what we, the church, desperately need today. 00:09:53.440 --> 00:09:59.600 If you've got your Bibles, would you open up Maybe 120 or so are gathered around Jesus. 00:10:13.360 --> 00:10:21.919 It's his final words before he's going to ascend into heaven, and he's leaving them with this final mandate. 00:10:23.039 --> 00:10:29.919 Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 00:10:30.639 --> 00:10:43.600 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them 00:11:54.799 He says, no, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 00:11:55.039 --> 00:12:01.919 When I was crucified on Good Friday, it looked like the religious leaders had all authority. 00:12:02.080 --> 00:12:08.320 When I was crucified, it looked like the powers at Rome had conquered my power. 00:12:08.480 --> 00:12:12.720 But on resurrection Sunday, friends, I defeated you behold the Grand Canyon, you take it in and you see the vastness of it, you see the beauty of the way the sun hits all of the different crevices and canyons and the way the shadows cascade across the you know Colorado River. 00:15:45.519 --> 00:15:56.720 If you get down into it, you experience the different ways that it actually affects the actual climate that in different places it can be 10,
