00:00:02.879 --> 00:00:04.320
Happy Mother's Day.

00:00:04.480 --> 00:00:07.440
Y'all get the Masterson duo here this morning.

00:00:07.919 --> 00:00:09.519
My name is Christy Masterson.

00:00:09.599 --> 00:00:10.720
I'm Russ's wife.

00:00:10.880 --> 00:00:18.160
We have three girls, three teenage girls, which I was like super scared about, but we're here and it's actually really fun.

00:00:18.480 --> 00:00:21.920
So those of you that might be in the same boat, it's coming for you, but it's awesome.

00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:22.960
It's so fun.

00:00:23.679 --> 00:00:25.440
I grew up in a house full of boys.

00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:26.640
I have all brothers.

00:00:26.800 --> 00:00:29.600
And so my mom was like my built-in bestie.

00:00:29.679 --> 00:00:37.920
So I kind of feel like I have three of those at my house, and getting to watch sisterhood up close and personal when you don't have a sister is the funnest thing ever.

00:00:38.399 --> 00:00:42.159
But with that, we're so grateful that you're here to celebrate Mother's Day with us.

00:00:42.240 --> 00:00:51.280
And I really do believe that moms get this superpower that sometimes we can get out of whack, which is that we can assess the needs of our children.

00:00:51.439 --> 00:00:53.600
And sometimes we can overassess.

00:00:53.840 --> 00:01:11.680
And I thought about a story where I was really good at over-assessing the needs of my children, which was when they were babies, I consistently just thought, even though they would be perfectly asleep in their little buckets, you know, I would just make up a reason that they needed me, which was, you know, they were cold, so they needed another blanket or their past seed slipped out.

00:01:11.760 --> 00:01:17.200
I needed to shove it in their mouth, you know, and Russ would consistently say, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

00:01:17.840 --> 00:01:21.439
But I wanted to, because I wanted to overly assess their needs.

00:01:21.599 --> 00:01:25.200
And then I also am guilty of underassessing their needs.

00:01:25.280 --> 00:01:35.599
Um we have a couple family stories where I wanted it to be a sprain or I wanted it to be a deep bruise, but we ended up a couple days later going to the doctor and getting a cast.

00:01:35.680 --> 00:01:40.400
You know, those are your mom badges of honor there when you under-assess needs.

00:01:40.640 --> 00:01:50.239
But regardless, as a mom, I know that all the needs around us, both for ourselves and for our children, that can just be really overwhelming.

00:01:50.400 --> 00:02:00.879
So one place that I run to consistently that I just wanted to share this morning is the beauty in that Jesus Christ fully meets our needs.

00:02:01.040 --> 00:02:04.799
So in him we have full forgiveness, we have full redemption.

00:02:05.040 --> 00:02:09.840
And we don't have to carry the shame that we have from motherhood and not doing it correctly.

00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:11.199
And we just get to sit.

00:02:11.360 --> 00:02:20.080
And I shared in the first service, I have this visual that I go back to over and over of both the face of Jesus.

00:02:20.159 --> 00:02:28.400
I my image of face of Jesus is the one from chosen, where he is just so lovingly, it's almost like he just has this most tender face.

00:02:28.479 --> 00:02:36.240
And I picture that, but then I also just picture a massive waterfall of his great love for me and for us.

00:02:36.400 --> 00:02:45.599
And that every day I get to choose to just kind of step back in and be swallowed up in that waterfall and in that guiding presence in him.

00:02:45.840 --> 00:02:48.159
And we all have that through Jesus.

00:02:48.400 --> 00:02:50.560
So I'm gonna pray for us this morning.

00:02:50.719 --> 00:02:54.159
I know today can be a mixed emotions for some of us.

00:02:54.319 --> 00:03:00.639
Maybe maybe you've lost your mom recently, or maybe you're longing to be a mom, or maybe you had a difficult childhood.

00:03:00.800 --> 00:03:05.439
So I just kind of want to pray for all of us, and I'm gonna pray for Matt as he comes to speak with us.

00:03:05.759 --> 00:03:08.080
Dear Lord, we just thank you for moms.

00:03:08.240 --> 00:03:13.919
We thank you for the beauty that they show us in the part of you and as creator God.

00:03:14.080 --> 00:03:24.960
Lord, I pray that you would just um guide the moms in this room, Lord, that we could hear you more readily, that we would be aware of your voice and the decisions and the choices that you allow us to make for our children.

00:03:25.280 --> 00:03:29.840
I pray that you would guide Matt and his sermon, that your Holy Spirit would speak through him.

00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:35.120
Lord, we thank you for just your callings in our lives, and would we cherish this in Jesus' name?

00:03:35.199 --> 00:03:35.439
I pray.

00:03:35.840 --> 00:03:36.240
Amen.
