You don't have to keep sacrificing yourself. 00:04:58.800 --> 00:05:08.399 By the grace of God, this Jesus dies for all of your sin is put upon him, and his righteousness is given to you, and you are And this prayer is sort of a mystery because you have this statement, sovereign Lord, God your sovereign, and your economy, all the good and all the bad of this world all work together in the economy responsibility, because you would think, well, if they're proclaiming God to be sovereign, well then I don't need to be brave. 00:06:03.759 --> 00:06:04.560 I don't need to be anything. 00:06:04.639 she lived over there in Kenya, and she had started a camp in Kenya for kids, and she was single her whole life, but she had this huge family of friends in Kenya, huge family here, and family of argument behind God's sovereignty, not my struggle. 00:08:11.839 --> 00:08:16.959 My struggle is with I only get a glimpse. 00:08:17.759 --> 00:08:22.800 I only get a glimpse of how things are working Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament, this guy is a prisoner on a ship. 00:10:17.519 --> 00:10:21.200 And a storm comes up on this ship, and it's not looking good. 00:10:21.360 --> 00:10:22.399 Everybody's freaking out. 00:10:22.480 --> 00:10:34.240 They think they're gonna go down, they think this is going the wrong way, and uh they decide to take the ship, let the storm take the ship, and they they get kind of on the lee side of an island, a little bit protected. 00:10:34.320 --> 00:10:39.360 They start building supports under the ship, they're tossing cargo, I mean, they're doing anything they can. 00:10:39.519 --> 00:10:46.240 And Paul, who's a prisoner, he comes before everybody says, Hey, I've heard from an angel from the Lord. 00:10:46.559 --> 00:10:49.759 And that could just be a fancy way of saying, like, hey, I heard from God. 00:10:50.000 --> 00:10:54.799 Like, in this distress, I heard from God, none of us are gonna die. 00:10:55.200 --> 00:10:57.919 So he makes 00:11:05.200 --> 00:11:06.559 All right, so that's interesting, right? 00:11:06.639 --> 00:11:09.600 Like, because you have like, all right, so God is sovereign, none of you are gonna die. 00:11:10.159 --> 00:11:13.039 He's saying it before anything's happened, so it's been predestined. 00:11:13.200 --> 00:11:17.039 Yet, let's, we have to do something, yet we have to run the ship 00:12:28.399 See, no matter how things are, God is always in charge, and yet what you do still matters. 00:12:29.759 --> 00:12:38.320 Author and Pastor Tim Keller says that this concept makes no logical sense, but it is wonderfully practical. 00:12:39.120 --> 00:12:54.879 Meaning, if you really believe your actions and prayers could change God, if you really meant that, you have way too high a view of your own wisdom of what should happen in this world, or for you, or your family, or your loved ones, and you will exhaust yourself in this life. 00:12:55.200 --> 00:12:57.279 Because everything would rely on you. 00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:06.320 Yet, if you believed everything is faded and there's no human responsibility, well then it'd be easy to go like, I don't need to do 00:16:40.639 When really it's built upon the truth that prayer is about you getting out all your expectations and finally becoming surrendered and still before the Lord, who holds all things together,
