What are you gonna do with me?
SPEAKER_06Becky Lewis, Myrtle Beach Powerhouse, top 1% realtor, devoted mom, fearless listing queen, buyer's best friend, an absolute superstar. She doesn't just close deals and crush goals. She can channel Cindy Lawfer so well, even girls just want to have fun might need a sequel. Becky proves you really can sell homes by day and rock the mic by night. Today on Realtors in RVs, I have a Queen with me. And I'm not just talking exaggeration of a queen. I have somebody that started real estate in 2020.
SPEAKER_03I have been with BRG almost a year. It was July of 2020.
SPEAKER_06Six years in, she's the top 1% in Myrtle Beach. She actually hit that number within her third year. So I'm assuming by 2022-23, Becky Lewis became a one percenter in Myrtle Beach. Now, she only relocated here from Jersey in 2017. So not even 10 years in the game. Becky is taking over the Grand Strand, and here she is. So here we are, Becky Lewis. How are you doing, Becky?
SPEAKER_03I'm good. How are you?
SPEAKER_06Good, good. So let's tell the audience who is Becky Lewis.
SPEAKER_03Who is Becky Lewis? Uh well, first and foremost, she's a mom. Um she's a lover of God and people and all things. Um I'm an empath, and uh I just I just love on people. I just love to help people do hard things and transition and uh get them through hard things.
SPEAKER_06You know what I love about what you just said? The show is called Realtors and RVs, and not once did you talk about your legendary status as top 1% in Meadow Beach. You talked about actually who Becky Lewis is, and that is the basis of the show. It's like realtors kind of getting together. We sing. You're gonna sing with me later, aren't you? Alright, I got this. 80s song, we gotta do an 80s song. And um, yeah, I like to give back to the newer agents that are just starting out, hoping that we can help them. But you are beautiful, you are wonderful. I love now. We have a special guest coming on later. Okay, if you didn't miss the what is it, the Pelicans game where you got proposed live on TV. I mean, we gotta ask him how he hooked that up, and you had no clue.
SPEAKER_03I I I might the night before I might have had a little inkling something was happening just because of his um uh his response when I told him I wasn't gonna throw out the pitch, but uh, but but I still didn't know for sure. Did he like totally freak out? He freaked out. He freaked out.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so for those of you that don't know, she got engaged in the middle of the Pelicans baseball game in Myrtle Beach on live TV. We all saw it. It was freaking amazing. But anyway, back to Becky Lewis. We'll we'll bring Jeff on a little bit. He's got his uh Create TV shirt on. I said, Oh my god, you're wearing the brand. We gotta bring him on. But enough about Jeff, let's get back to you. All right, real estate. We moved from Jersey to Myrtle Beach in 2017. Yes. Okay, what was that move like? Because that's I mean, I made the move similar from New York to South Carolina, but what was it? What was that like for you?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, I mean, for me, it was it was an easy move because I had been coming to Myrtle Beach since I'm eight years old. Um, so 42 years I've been been coming here. Uh, four of my aunts and uncles had all bought vacation condos down in Surfside. So, you know, while all my good friends were like fist bumping, you know, at the Jersey Shore, um I was doing that here in Myrtle Beach. So I would come spend my summers here. So this was kind of like my home away from home. Um, and my oldest sister had relocated, you know, 40 years ago. So this was always kind of like the natural progression for me to come here, and it was always in my mind that this is where we were going to retire. And we were kind of at a point in life where um my kids were my son was starting middle school and my daughter was starting high school, and it was kind of that crossroads where we were like, okay, are we gonna stay here in Jersey, keep paying the higher taxes, live on that hamster wheel when I knew what like the good life looked like here and where my family was. Um, so we kind of made the decision to um we we bought a lot in um Waterbridge, which is a beautiful custom community, um, probably four years before, and then we started that build process to to do that. So um, so it's you know, although there's a lot of moving parts with it, it was just like the natural progression for me. And honestly, I it was it was the best thing that we had ever done. I don't I don't look back at all. The only thing that was lacking at first was the food, but I was just gonna ask the question. Yeah, like the only thing it was like, you know, I I say my Fs were what kept me up there. Food family friends. And um, but now there's so many transplants here that the food has gotten so much better over the years. I know.
SPEAKER_06I was like, do you miss the bagels? Do you miss the pizza? Do you miss the Chinese food? Like, I I I still haven't found my favorite places down here yet.
SPEAKER_03Really? Yeah, when it comes to Chinese was the last one, and Flaming Fin has done it for me. That's there that is a comparable, yeah.
SPEAKER_06So um So for those of you that don't know about the Flaming Fin, it's on the intersection of what? Carolina Forest Boulevard and River Oaks. Okay, yeah, it's great. We both live in the same community, which you do. Yeah, I she's been there for years. I only just moved into um our Carolina Forest community uh a year ago. I've been there a year and I love it. I love it. But you're like the mayor in there. You have a lot of listings. All right, I'm gonna bring this into real estate now. Okay. When I first, you know, we work at the same brokerage together at Innovate Real Estate. When I first heard of you, you were all over Waterbridge. You were like the Waterbridge listing. Oh, thank you. Now, how do you like listings or buy uh have being a buyer's agent or what do you like better?
SPEAKER_03You know, honestly, when I look at my numbers for the past three years, I'm like 50% right down the middle. Really? Yeah, it's it's pretty amazing to me. Um, you know, they're both they they're different. I I like them both in in in different ways. Um, you know, I like the intimacy of working with buyers and being being able to find like that perfect home for someone and and kind of going through that journey with them. Um, you know, I mean on the listing side, I love being able to tell the home story and capturing that and and you know making it unique to the marketing unique to that specific home.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, now with the um with the buyers, you just started a team. Yes. So now I I brought up with the buyers now. Do you find that your team is mostly now doing mostly buyers and you're doing more listings, or how does that work when you start a team?
SPEAKER_03You know, so uh for me starting a team, it was like baptism by fire, honestly. Like I um I had just personally left being on a team. I started my career on a team, very thankful for all that the team team brought to me. But after about five years of being on a team, it was just time for me to spread my wings. Yes. And um so I went off, kind of did my own thing, started making my my own footprint, and the team kind of organically came to me. Um, I wasn't really in the place where I was ready to start a team, I at least I thought at that point in time. Um, but the girls, we had worked together on the team previously, and um, they wanted to stay within the brokerages when some changes were happening, and they came to me and said, Hey, we love working with you, we love your hustle, you inspire us. Like, would you consider a team? And I'm like, well, shoot, I you know, was on my path, but I didn't think it was for a while. Um, so I kind of thought about it, and then another one of the girls came to me and um kind of preyed on it a little bit, and I was like, you know what? I I I feel like I'm being called to do this, and so I had kind of said to the girls, like, hey, listen, here's the deal. I don't really, I'm not willing to slow my hustle down. Right. So if you're willing to grab my hand and do this together, then then I'm all in because I'm not about being a manager. Like I'm it's you don't like to lose the jobs. No, I that's not, you know, like I I love what I do. I don't want to, I don't want to not be in the day-to-day real estate because I I love that. So um so so as far as they go, like I I never want to limit them to what they can do. I want them to learn everything that I know.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03Um, so I want them to be buyers' agents, I want them to be listing agents. Um, you know, I I want them to come to me and bounce idea, we'll bounce ideas off together, and you know, they'll give some ideas, I'll give some ideas, and you know, I just want them to be total agents, not just, you know, pigeonhole to one particular buyer or seller.
SPEAKER_06Now, is that the point that you came up with, Lewis Living? Now, if you guys don't know Becky Lewis, follow her on Facebook. She has a jingle. She does her open houses, and there's a song. She has her own little rap song that her fiance created for her. Wait till you see her videos.
SPEAKER_00Lewis Living, open house, step and tie. Take the door, fill the space, downliving the perfect place. Open living, open house, step and tie, step.
SPEAKER_06So Lewis living, did that come from the team or did that come before the team?
SPEAKER_03So, so so so Lewis living, so where that came from. So when I started my real estate career, um, I was I was going through a divorce at the time. I had been married for 20 years, um, went through a lot emotionally with with all of that, you know, two kids, 20-year marriage. Um, so my last name was different at the time. So now I'm in a crossroads in my real estate career, and everyone knew me as the old last name. And uh I remember when I was talking about actually finalizing the divorce. Do I take my maiden name back? Do I not? Now, my dad had just passed away um a few years before, and he had had um, you know, there's five, there's five of us, but only two of us had his last name because step siblings, but we never consider it that. Um and honestly, I wanted, you know, I had said, I'm taking my name back because I want a legacy for my dad to live on. And um, you know, I want his name to just kind of always be there. So we were kind of you know back and forth with like what do we do? And um actually Jeff, he's the most creative man I know. Um, he came up with the with Lewis living. And um, I was like, oh my gosh, I love it because it could encompass so many different parts of of real estate. Um so and then where my logo came from is um I mean I'm a I'm a science person, so unfortunately I lost um I lost my mom, my dad, and my sister all to cancer. And um they all come back to us in different ways. So my mom always comes back as a ladybug, my sister always comes back as um a butterfly, and then now here I am a few years ago with my dad and fighting this battle again with him, and me being me trying to like lighten the conversation. I'm like, all right, dad, like what are you coming back as? We got a ladybug, we got a butterfly, like what are you coming back as? And um, and he says, Me, I'm gonna be a fiery dragon. And I was like, Oh, okay. The day he died, there were dragonflies everywhere. So wow, so I was like, Wow, okay. So, you know, when we were considering this brand and letting his legacy live on, you know, it it just made perfect sense for the dragonfly to be that, and then we put the little key on it, and dragonflies they mean rebirth, new beginning. So it was really just um kind of just it was the perfect marriage of uh for branding for me.
SPEAKER_06And I I love it. If you ever watch the videos that Jeff creates, Jeff is uh her fiance that proposed to her on live TV at the Pelicans game. Um they have the Lewis Living, they have the logo, you've got music that goes to it. All right, we're talking about original creations here. Now that's something that I always talk about. I teach my class, my social media class, and I talk about the importance of being you and building a brand because you can do the latest TikTok trend, and you can go on Instagram, you can go on TikTok, and that trend is gonna be with 10,000 real trips. Your dime a dozen. What you guys have created with the Lewis Living and all of the videos. Let's bring Jeff on. All right, and here we are with Jeff, the man behind the scenes of Lewis Living. Now, she is the one percenter here in Meryl Beach, but behind the scenes, she's got her fiance, future husband, here that creates the most original content. So, Jeff, how'd all this start? Wait, first of all, how the heck did you two meet?
SPEAKER_02Uh we met at at the gym, actually, and uh it was crazy because uh Becky was uh just like my best friend for a while. Like we we weren't together for a couple of years, we were just best buddies, and I was I lost a lot of weight. I lost like 230 pounds over like you know years, and I was finishing my story. My ex-wife had cheated on me, so I didn't want to be with anybody. So, like, of course I thought she was beautiful, but she was just my friend, like you know, and she was married and everything else. So um, she even had tried to set me up with her sister. I did.
SPEAKER_03I did, I did. I was very married at the time, and um, and I was like, he's just a nice guy. There's not a lot of like nice guys out there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then uh yeah, and uh her sister was like, she goes, That boy is in love with you. And this was after like you were going through your stuff too, and I was like, No, I'm not, and yes, I was.
SPEAKER_06Yes, he was secrets out, yeah. Oh my god, I love it. So you met at the gym, became friends, and now here you are getting married. All right, how did you get the idea to propose to her at the Pelicans? I gotta hear this story.
SPEAKER_02Well, we were gonna. I was going to do it in Greece for her 50th birthday, but then we moved that. Yeah, that trip got canceled. Everything got got uh moved up. Um so then I thought, what better grandiose way to do it in Myrtle Beach than it was her client appreciation party. So she had about 170 of her clients there.
SPEAKER_03And to me, that's everything. Like my clients, like I I say to my clients all the time, you're stuck with me. I hope you like me because you're stuck with me, and we're in this together. Like you are gonna become like family to me. So um, so I do love that that he did it with all of like my you know clients around to witness it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Until the night before when she said, like after a month of planning, oh, I don't feel like throwing out the What happened?
SPEAKER_03Why not? Well, so I was I was supposed to have surgery a week and a half before that, and then life happened. They postponed my surgery to four days before. So now I'm like all scarred up, just had surgery, didn't want to make a fool out of myself, like in front of all of these people, because I'm like, can I even throw a ball? Because it's my surgery was happening up here, and so I kind of was like, ah, I don't think I'm gonna do it. And then he just, we have to do it for the marketing. It's sitting, it's this, it's that. Like everyone, I was like, Your clients, you walking on that field? They're gonna be like He was selling it hard, girl hard.
SPEAKER_02I was like Also, I had her daughter coming from Charleston, she didn't know.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you didn't know your daughter was her best friend from New Jersey coming to Charleston.
SPEAKER_02I saw that. Like that was all hidden behind the scenes, and I was like, I was juggling like 800 balls, plus I had to film at the thing, so like I'm acting like I'm doing my job, even though I'm terrified.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god. So was it nervous? Were you like how how did you figure out like what was actually happening? Like, did you get down, like, did you get down on one year, and then you're like, oh my god, he's actually proposing, and then everything is like, okay, this is why this went like this.
SPEAKER_03Pretty much so, yeah.
SPEAKER_02The Pelicans were amazing, like behind the scenes, they helped me so much to make this. Like I explained everything that was going on, and like, and um, it's it's crazy because Splash always catches. So, like, there's always a couple kids that throw out the first pitch, and then the real person throws it out, and then they hand me a glove like last second. I'm like, wait, I'm catching, and then I'm like, I'm like, catch the ball, catch the ball, because I didn't want to be scrambling for it and then run up and then and do it. But uh, we reviewed the tape, and I don't think I actually asked.
SPEAKER_03He never asked me, but that's okay. I his nerves kicked in, and and then the announcer's going, Does she say yes? I'm like, Yes.
SPEAKER_05And now you have to redo it and actually get down and watch it.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm a professional voice actor, so that will be fixed in post.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what he said. He's like, I'll just I'll just put it in there that I ask it.
SPEAKER_02It'll be eloquent, it'll be like my dearest Rebecca. I know in my hand.
SPEAKER_06So how now how how amazing is that synergy? He has been doing radio, television, MTV, you name it, he's done it for the past 30 years. He meets the top 1% uh producer. Well, they obviously they were friends, friends first. So they were friends first, but now they're getting engaged to be married. Two businesses coming together, two separate brands, Creative Media, did I say it right? Because I always get it wrong. Okay, Creative Media, Lewis Living coming together to bring both brands to this amazing forefront of I don't even know, it's social media, it's regular media. Now you're working with um uh create, what is it, the the real estate? Elevate real estate.
SPEAKER_02They hired me to do the launch, and then actually I just did all, yeah, it'll probably be out by the time here. I did all the Conway Riverfest promos.
SPEAKER_06Oh, did you? Yeah, so it doesn't get better than this. Let's talk about original content because I always side chat with them on Facebook, like I love you guys, you do all the original content, just want to tell you how proud I am. Amazing original content. Let's tell the audience how important it is to be you, to build a brand, and to be original and to not do all those. I mean, doing trends is fun, but when to build your brand, you have to have something of your own, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. Um I mean, you know, for me, it's um clients are putting like such a huge trust in me. And I want to make sure that I can deliver for them and fulfill the the shoes that you know I think my expectations are even higher than what the client has for me. Um, and you know, I always ask my clients, like, what what's important about your house? What do you want people to know? What do you love about your house? Like I, you know, I I am always I'm big on on telling stories of what you know what that looks like. And we collaborate all the time. Like actually, on the way here, we've got a shoot after this, and we're just kind of bouncing ideas back and forth, and he is the most creative dude I know. And this uh so there's always something, and and you know, we'll try and think of something that's kind of topical, maybe that that we can kind of add in there just to kind of spice it up a little bit.
SPEAKER_02But um a lot of times I we sit down first and we we kind of do like a pre-meeting, and I'm like, okay, what are the great features of this house? And the weirdest thing is people don't ever realize, like when I when I approach it or I film it, Beck is not the star ever in any of these.
SPEAKER_03I I never say my name. If you listen, watch my videos, never once do I say my name.
SPEAKER_02Even Lewis Living, it's embedded, like I'll put it on the driveway.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I love the way you do that.
SPEAKER_02Like a Mercedes-Benz commercial, you don't have to say, hey, we're Mercedes-Benz. Exactly. So she's never said her name one time in any video, ever. I I think the one we did with like Becky, you know, look at this house. That's the one. Yeah, that was the first time I knew we were. But that's the whole thing, is is the house is the star. She's just a great supporting actor.
SPEAKER_05A gorgeous, yeah, beautiful woman that we're all looking at.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. And you do amazing as well. Like, like there's some realtors that get it, and some that just want to be like the you know, the LA superstar TikTok thing, and that's not gonna sell your house.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, it's not. Yeah, I mean, let's face it, you know, we're Americans, we want like, you know, instant gratification here. And the thing that I learned when I was starting to look at like all the analytics and stuff on social media is we got seven seconds to to like catch somebody. Yeah, and when you know, when you start out at hi, my name is Becky Lewis with Innovate Real Estate. Welcome to 123 Main Street. They're done. They're done. They've scrolled, they've scrolled, like you gotta catch them. And you got and the thing that I love so much about like what we do is you know, I hear it a lot in Waterbridge when we're their pool and everything. Neighbors will come up to us that have no intention of buying any kind of real estate. They're like, we love our house, we are not going anywhere, but we can't wait to see your next video.
SPEAKER_02So they're like, One lady, she was like in her 80s, and she said, she goes, I'm in my forever home. I built it when I moved down here. She's like, I watch every single video you make and I send it to everyone I know. Yeah, yeah. Because it's entertaining like watching HG TV.
SPEAKER_05Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_02And it's it's such a and the the funny thing is is the the effects and stuff that I do, like everybody's like, Wow, about that. Oh, we gotta talk about that.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_02And and the other thing, just like you, you're amazing on camera. Like, I I've told you that personally, like, you know. You and Becky, that is such a big piece of it is to get comfortable. So, like a realtor, like, yeah, you could hire somebody like me, but if you don't have the skills on the other side of the camera, I'm just gonna exemplify that you're not ready. Right. You know, you know, for realtors, like look at doing improv, look at doing acting classes, look at like that's where I would point you first. It's not all just about the equipment. Like I can shoot an amazing video with either one of you on an iPhone.
SPEAKER_06Right, exactly. Now you did a video. This is what I and I had to, I think I asked you. You did a video for one of your like multi-million dollar listings in Waterbridge in Carolina Forest. Waterbridge is a community in Carolina Forest, it's a top-notch gated community, 24-hour security. I can't speak highly about it enough. But anyway, I actually had to watch it three times because you put in people having a party at the backyard pool. You threw our broker in, and it was the middle of winter, and I'm like, did they just get like 50 people to have a party in bathing suits in the middle of the freeze?
SPEAKER_03And then and then you said So many people did think that we got so many questions about that.
SPEAKER_02I was like, how the hell did they film this? We knew we were gonna be putting that that house on it on what February?
SPEAKER_03It went on in February, but I knew the summer before.
SPEAKER_02So I went and filmed all the drone footage the summer before.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02And then like people all the time ask, they're like, How is your AI so good? I'm like, I I use AI, yes, but I use it as like a force multiplier. Like I don't I don't just rely on it because there's bits and pieces that look fake. So I use AI to create CGI models of people and then import that into the real world. Right. Now everybody can't do that, you know. I I I get it, and you know, my studio is like really high tech, but but that's how it looks so real. But even on that video, I had the dad throw the kid over the drone.
SPEAKER_06And I said, It's freezing out there, book it, it's freezing. I did not think that's the case.
SPEAKER_02You could have like nipped that baby's toes with the propeller. I'm like, the kid wasn't real.
SPEAKER_06I thought it was so real too. I said to my husband, I go, Oh my god, they're having a pool party. We're in a freeze, it's like 30 degrees, and the dad is throwing a kid in the pool. The owner actually got mad.
SPEAKER_02Remember, the owner got mad that people were like, they were like texting them while they're not.
SPEAKER_03They said all of their friends and family were so annoyed that they weren't asked to be the extras in it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Because everybody thought that it was that was so lifelike. That was probably my favorite. And then my other favorite is where you have her in like a little Jeep, like a little convertible car going down the.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the Monopoly one.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Was it the ocean front? North Myrtle Beach or the Monopoly one?
SPEAKER_06No, it was um I might see the Monopoly one or the Market Common one when you're in the golf cart. The golf cart, yeah, the golf cart.
SPEAKER_03That was cute with the Generac generator. Oh no, lights are out. Yeah. Lights out. Oh no. One of the best features of this.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, power's down. Thank goodness this seller thought ahead.
SPEAKER_03You're ready for anything.
SPEAKER_01By installing a whole house generator from Generac. You're always covered.
SPEAKER_06You have to see the way they create. They the synergy between you two, between you doing the real estate and you doing the videos, is magnificent. I want everybody to see that. It is wonderful. Uh, Jeff, you have a business here, you're picking up new clients, not real estate related, though. You do everybody outside of real estate. I've got them on lockdown. It was so funny. No other realtors can call, but if you have a business, you can call.
SPEAKER_02Well, if you join the Lewis Living team. That's another step. I'm actually too much work right now with all these girls. Oh, yeah. But uh, yeah, uh I do uh regular media stuff. I'm actually really starting to go out in the market. Uh I've a part of the whole team with the Elevate launch um the conferences. Um, like I said, Conway Riverfest, I just did that. I'm doing a a big package for D.R. Horton. Actually hired me to do like a 14 city. Yeah. Yeah, so it's gonna be cool. But yeah, in the beginning when we first started doing them, I was getting like 26 uh friend requests a day by realtors. Realtors, hey, I'm like, no, I can't. You gotta cut.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's that's that's too much competition. Real estate for Becky. So, Jeff, if you want to give your contact information, if somebody needs any of your um feel free to write now, phone over email.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can just contact me. Um, I'm a professional voice actor too, so that's why I use uh Jeff Martinvo at gmail.com. Okay. If you got a business that uh you want to just be creative with, we can do something really, really cool.
SPEAKER_06And now it's time to give back Becky Lewis. Becky Lewis, three things I need advice for three agents. Three things. How did you become a top producer? Three years you're at the 1% mark. What did you do? What is your secret sauce? Let's help new agents um get out of their funk and get ahead. Like you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, uh honestly, just be authentic. You know what you can be anything in this world, be you. Um, you don't have to be anybody else. Pave your own path. Like, do what figure out what works best for you and do it. Because we're not all gonna be great at everything, but if you can kind of just narrow in on like the certain things that you're really good at, that was kind of that that was kind of my special sauce. Like I'm a relationship person, I I love people, I I know how to love on my people. Um, and it's kind of cool because now I see six years in how that has extrapolated. And you know, my one person has turned into 20 people that has, you know, so now I'm I'm pretty much a referral-based business most of the time. And I'm kind of at the point in my career where I can pick and choose who I'm gonna work with. Isn't that the best feeling? Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_02And I I tell everybody I I throw gasoline on the fire of her, but it's her work ethic and what she does. Like, if she doesn't get the listings, I don't make videos, so it's all her hard work. Like exactly, you know, I I help amplify it, but like you don't need someone like me. You know, you need her drive or your drive. You know, that's what you need more than anything.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. So I I think that definitely would be um so relationships over transactions, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Putting your heart into people.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Two more um, database, database, database. Start early with find a good CRM and put everything into that CRM. Um, it's your reminder and make sure you're working that thing every day. Um, just putting in, you know, little notes about people, home anniversary dates, birthday dates, give you a point of contact to touch, to touch everybody's table, I I always say. Um and just and just and just make sure you really nurture that early on so that you can build that up over years and make a really good, really good database for sure. That would be number two.
SPEAKER_06So number one was relationship subtransactions, number two, the database, number three, on what made Becky Lewis become a top 1% producer in the grand strand.
SPEAKER_03Um so I would definitely say my last thing would just be tenacious in what you do. Um, you know, when I started my real estate career, like I had said, I was at a really um, gosh, uh low point in in my life coming out of a divorce, um, wanting to make sure I maintained um having my children live in the community that they were at. Like I had no other option but but to go up. I was on my knees. So I just, you know, I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel again and make all these new systems. I went to those people that knew what was working. Um, you know, I went to the Mark Loomis's, the, the, um, you know, the Jeff Castor lines, the Chris Coppels, like, and I just said, tell me what works and and and I will do this. Um, and then I just kind of buried my head in the sand, and I was not gonna take my head out until until I was doing doing it. And um, so just be tenacious. You know, I think so many times people have um gotten inspired by my career, and sometimes we make it look easy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, you know, because we don't necessarily show all of the what's going on behind the scenes. So I I have inspired quite a few people to go get real est real real estate licensed and and start their careers. And you know, I mean, one of my first things I tell them it's not going to be easy. Like you have to have the stick to itiveness and the tenacity to to to push through it because everybody just wants like you know, the glamorous life, and and but they're not seeing the up until two o'clock in the morning, you know, doing things, putting fires out all the time.
SPEAKER_02One of the things I see with her is like, you know, you've gotten it, probably you got a lead call, you you know, you call them and they're they're mean to you. She just puts it down, resets, hi, this is Becky Lewis, Lewis Living. Like it does not affect her in any way. And like even me, like I I'm a professional voice actor, I'd be like, I need a minute.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, see, see, for me, that actually fuels my fire. When somebody, when somebody like says no, you know, I always say to the girls, say no and watch me go. Because then that just kind of ticks me off a little bit, and then I just kind of get on the war path where we're like, oh yeah, we'll watch this one, you know. Because it's a numbers game. You gotta, you gotta be, you gotta be putting putting the calls out there, and and it's just purely a numbers game. So you gotta touch the table and and do your thing and be tenacious about it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. If you haven't followed her yet, you're gonna want to follow her now. Becky Lewis, she's a Myrtle Beach realtor, she's taken over the Grand Strand. Now, one of the things that I wanted to ask you about is outside of real estate, you're a mom. I am now you're like me in Empty Nester, right?
SPEAKER_03I am, I am, girl.
SPEAKER_06Wasn't that hard when the kids left? Yes. To me, I found it. I have the twins and they both left at the same time. And I was like, my whole world. First, you have your kids at home and then they're gone. And mine, Chris had retired from the New York City Fire Department. So I have him home all the time, and the kids are gone. And it was like a oh, my whole world was like, it just changed. I don't I don't know. It's just that that mom thing that we never talk about. Like being an empty nester, I think it's it's to me it's hard, but I love watching the twins grow and watching them become the men and women they're meant to be. But did you have a hard time when your kids left?
SPEAKER_03I did. So my daughter, she's two and a half years older. Um, so she had done her undergrad at University of Pittsburgh. Um, and she's like my bestie. We're you know, sometimes we're oil and water, we're like two peas in a pod. Um but uh you know, when she left, it was definitely very hard when she left, but I think I I still had him there. Um so so he would, you know, it wasn't the quietness. Like you unfortunately got double whammied because they both left at the same time. So, you know, when he was still there, it was it kind of transitioned me a little bit more. And then when actually when he went to college, which was I guess two and a half years ago, is when I really started getting busy with real estate. So I was able to kind of refocus myself and kind of dive a little bit deeper into real estate at that point in time. So the timing of that was good, but um, you know, it it is a little unnerving where you know, and and my daughter she's she's a girl, like we talk every day. I know everything that's going on in her life. My son, not so much, nothing, right? Not so much.
SPEAKER_02He calls me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, crickets. He'll call him, and I'm like, wait, what? I'm the mother here, you know. So, but like you said, I mean, it means that we've done a good job raising them well and and they're thriving. And that's you know, as parents, that's really all we can ask for. But it definitely leaves a little hole in the mama's heart when uh when your babies aren't there.
SPEAKER_06So it does. I'm flying, I'm flying mine in um in two weeks. They're going to a family wedding. My cousin's in the Air Force. Well, hey, my cousin's son is in the Air Force, and he's getting married in, which I never heard of it, Dallas, North Carolina. So they're gonna we're flying them to Myrtle, and then we're um we're gonna go to the wedding there, and then come back, and then I'll fly them back home. But I'm excited to see them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's the good stuff in life that makes it. I know.
SPEAKER_06Speaking of good stuff, you want to go sing a song with me? Remember, you come on, you gotta sing an 80s song with me. All right, girl. Hey, I'm an 80s girl. All right, Becky, you know every show I have to have an 80s song sung.
SPEAKER_03All right, let's do it. Um, girls just want to have fun.
SPEAKER_05All right, ready?
SPEAKER_03Yep. I woke up in the middle of the night.
SPEAKER_05All right, we got the song rings in the middle of the night. My father yells, what you gonna do with your life? Oh, 22, you know you're still number one. And girls, they wanna have a home. Oh girls, just one and a half. That's all they really want. When the working day is done. Hello, girls, they wanna have a home. Oh girls, just one and a half fun.
SPEAKER_03Good job.
SPEAKER_05Good job.
SPEAKER_03We'll stick to our day job until we're you didn't skip a beat there.
SPEAKER_06Never. You know, it's funny because I I was uh working before I got my real estate license. Actually, when I first got it, you know, sometimes you have to work part-time because you need that money in your pocket to throw back, you know, you need business cards, you need to pick up stuff for along the way. So I worked part-time at a senior center and I did the recreation. And I was fascinated by the way the seniors remember uh every Frank Sinatra song, every Gene Martin song, every song from the 40s and 50s, 60s. They knew every lyric. And here we are with the 80s. Well, we kind of messed up a little bit. It's all right, it's okay. But we're like the same. So I guess music there's something about music um that just kind of brings everybody together. It's that one piece of a brain that some people I can remember an 80s song more than I can remember why I went into the kitchen in the middle of the night.
SPEAKER_03Oh, 100%. 100%. Yeah. What's your favorite song? Do you have one? Oh, my favorite song. Um uh I'm a Madonna. I love Madonna, so my favorite song would be Crazy for You.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I love that song. I remember that. That was like eighth grade dancing, you remember Cry Over the Boys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, everybody liked Michael Dunbar, and you know, all it like music can bring such emotion back.
SPEAKER_05I know, but like Michael Dunbar, I didn't heard that for like 40 years.
SPEAKER_03It brings you back to like a certain place and a certain time, and um, and and I love I love that about music. Like I'm I always have music playing just in the background, and I I love that about it.
SPEAKER_06Nice timeless. Well, I'm gonna ask two more questions to Becca before we end the show. What is the next phase of Lewis Living?
SPEAKER_03Uh what is the next phase of Lewis Living? That's um well, I I I guess I would say, I mean, I've got some personal things that so so so honestly, I think right now um I I'm I always want to continue to grow and nurture my team and make the team grow. Um temporarily kind of not not that I'm pausing my business, but I have some health things that I'm going through right now. So um so I think I think the next phase is is kind of focusing on my health while accelerating my brand.
SPEAKER_06Okay, excellent. Now, one more we did um the we did the words of wisdom, we gave back to the to the audience, we gave back to the new agents that are watching, we sang, we did everything that I wanted realtors and RVs to be. But there's one question, one question. I need a secret. I need a Becky Lewis secret that nobody knows. Oh my gosh, a Becky Lewis secret that nobody knows.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Um about me. Well, I am a huge um Law and Order junkie. Law and order? I love Law and Order. I'm a huge junk. I have seen like all 72 seasons of it. Like I could solve crimes like no other. So if real estate doesn't work out for me, like I'm gonna be solving crimes.
SPEAKER_06Look out, look out, Ori Candy Petey, she's coming.
SPEAKER_03SBU is like my favorite favorite, but um, yeah, that's like a little tidbit about me that maybe you didn't know.
SPEAKER_06There was a show back when when all those were big and it was about the aliens. Um it came on the same time that late 80s, early 90s, the UFOs, um Oh, X-Files? Yes! X-Files! We used to watch SBU or and NYPD Blue, whatever it was, and the X-Files. Those were like the best times. You know, that's when before we were on Facebook, before anything. Do you how do you feel about that? Not that how do you feel about that, but do you remember the simpler life before social media?
SPEAKER_03I do. I do. And honestly, I I miss it sometimes. Like I, you know, I love the fact with social media that you can still um stay connected to people, but but I I hate the fact that it's um that it's that you don't really know the true essence of them and and it's very topical. Yeah, it's kind of a little weird sometimes because I I mean I'm very open, you know me. I I put my stuff out there. Um, and sometimes people will know a lot more about me than um, and it kind of like alarms me a little bit. I'm like, oh wow, that's a little creeperish. They know like everything about me. Like maybe I shouldn't, but um, I I miss the days of just like you know going out with the girls and just having some martinis and and kicking back, and like that's the good stuff in life. I I I love social media for the fact that it can make you stay connected, but I hate how disassociated it's made some of us become.
SPEAKER_06I agree with you 100%. And now is the time for your shameless plugs. I want your email, your cell phone, your website. How do people get in touch with you if they want to buy or sell a house with the Lewis Living Two?
SPEAKER_03Awesome. I will shamelessly plug my business because I would love to um help anyone buy or sell real estate here in the Ori County area. So my number is 908-451-0484, and I will be at your beck and call. Um pumped. Um my website is www.lewisliving.com and you can always get me on email Becky Lewis Realtor at email.com.
