Hi everyone, and welcome to Books and Box Office Besties. I'm Wendy, and this is my co-host Kim. Hello, everybody. Today we have a special surprise for you. We're reviewing our first movie, Obsession. But first, we have some housekeeping issues to discuss. We just wanted to say we do have some four-legged besties. So if you heard them in the past, some jingling and other stuff. Scratching. Yes, it's because we do not discriminate. And uh that's good. Sorry about that, but going forward, they're gonna be a little bit quieter. So we also have our disclaimer that we always have. There will be spoilers, probably, most likely. I don't know. Let's see what Kim has to say.

Uh, of course, there's gonna be spoilers. We're gonna talk about it inside and out because we know everybody has seen the movie and everybody likes the movie.

Really? Well, yes, we know we've both seen it and we have very different views on it, but that's okay. That's okay. That's a good thing. I know. So again, we're doing obsession. Well, I'm sorry, it was released May 15th, 2026, and it's directed by Curry Barker, and it's starring Michael Johnston and Indy Navarrett. And now, Kim, take it away. So, everybody.

This was one of my favorite movies of all times. And let me just give you a little recap. So we're all on the same page here. It's about four young adults working together in a music store. Two guys and two girls. One of the guys is named Bear. Well, his real name is Barron, but they call him Bear. He has a serious crush on Nikki, but he's too nervous to express his feelings to her. Typical young man. Instead, he comes across a one-wish willow at a supernatural store, a new age store, you know, things like that. And this is where things go extremely wrong. This movie starts off, I think it has a great start to it. It takes place in a restaurant, and he's sitting down and he's rehearsing some lines that he wants to say to Nikki. And the waitress was asked to sit down across from him so he can actually look at a girl's face. I'm telling you, this guy is very nervous, and his buddy is critiquing everything that he's doing or not do or should be doing. So, anyways, after he pours his heart out to this girl, and the word he used, I believe, is vulnerable. So he pours everything out, and the girl's like, Oh, that is so wonderful. And of course, we all think that she is Nikki, but here she's just a waitress. And coincidentally, his buddy's like, oh no, that was terrible. Nikki would never go for that. And what did you think, Wendy? Would you have gone for something like that if a guy told you was vulnerable? Oh my gosh, I think he had a great chance with the waitress, probably better than he had with Nikki. Well, yeah, because he was talking from his heart, of course. A girl wants somebody to talk from his heart. And I even think he, if he said exactly that to Nikki, then he would have had a great shot with that too. But his buddy convinces him differently. So, anyways, they're gonna get together at a pub. But so he leaves and he goes home, and on the way home, he comes across a supernatural store, one of those stores. He goes inside and he wants to buy Nikki a necklace. So he goes in there and he's looking around, and what does he spot? One wish willow. And he comes across this one wish willow. He goes up to the lady and goes, Hey, does this work? And she's like, Oh, yes, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So then he uh goes home and he finds his cat, Sandy, is dead, and he is devastated. He doesn't think he's gonna go out that night, but still he does. Uh, you know, I think when you're talking about the creepy parts, Wendy, the part about the cat laying there in the kitchen floor, that was a little creepy because you just knew something was gonna happen, right?

Yes, and it was very sad too.

Yes, it was very sad. So, anyways, he goes out and uh he tries to tell Mickey how he feels and it doesn't work, and he's about to leave, and Mickey needs a ride home. And being the guy with this huge crush on this girl, he offers to take her home and they're driving, and he's trying to talk to her, and finally she says to him at one point, says, Bear, do you like me? And of course, he blows it and goes, Well, you know, we're always been friends. I mean, Wendy, at that point, I think she knew that he really liked her.

I I mean, I think she knew, and I felt like, wow, you really blew your chance right there. I mean, you could have just said it right there, all of that, you know, but he didn't. Of course he didn't. Ugh. He's like such a coward when it comes to his feelings, really.

I yeah, I well, you know, I was thinking about that, and maybe sometimes when people are really good friends with someone, especially if there's like a group of three, four, five, you know, a small little click that hangs together, and then over the years, one of the people in the group starts to have feelings and a crush on the other person in the group, but they don't want to ruin the dynamic of that group. Do you kind of see that?

Yeah, I mean, that's a good point, definitely. I think at that point she also said something like, People don't usually know if I like them, which made you think, oh, does she like him? And she's just not saying it.

Mm-hmm.

But you you don't know at that point.

I just think it's immaturity for him at that point because yeah, I mean, if you really like somebody, you're gonna have to be a little bit vulnerable, and you're just gonna have to tell the person what you think and feel. But, anyways, he didn't. And oh my gosh, do things go wrong? And when she gets out of the car, he even hits his head. He's like, Oh my god, I'm so stupid, blah, blah, blah. And then he reaches in the back, and what does he do? He has this one wish willow, it's a little stick, he cracks it in half, and he says, I want Nikki to love me more than anybody else in the world. And then a few minutes later, she comes back out and says, Hey, didn't you say you were gonna give me something or you had something for me? And he says, Oh, I left it at home. And she's like, Oh, okay. And then all of a sudden she starts to act a little bit creepy, wouldn't you say, Wend?

Oh, yeah, and the light play where you only see her shadow when she comes back. That was really good. I have to admit, the shadow play in this movie is really creepy.

Well, the other thing for this particular scene is it's happening at night. So you have like the light from the house, and she's standing in front of it, so you see her silhouette and stuff. But yeah, and of course, you know, she just can't be alone, so they go to his house, and then the next thing you know, they're in bed together. And what was the part that was like next? Like he's sound asleep, or no, no, he wasn't asleep yet. He just I don't know, rolled over, right? And she screams, ah and he jumps, yeah. I'll jump, and he's like, What's wrong? What's wrong? Did I hurt you? I didn't take advantage of you, right? Yeah, but there was just so many good scenes.

I mean, well, there was a lot in this movie uh out of the blue, and it was that alone was creepy. It's like, oh my god, stop it. It's like because it seems like ever since he made that wish, she's acting different and a little bit creepy, and even her movements are a little bit different, so it's like they have a low budget, but they're working with lighting and movement and acting only, you know, yeah, the shadows, yeah.

So, I mean, just because their budget was so low, I mean their acting was superb, and like Wendy says, she does scream a lot. And I was listening to her Indy on a uh quick little talk show here, and she said that she actually had laryngitis for a very long time with all the screaming to get that right scream down, if you know what I mean.

But there's so many other good things. I mean, the acting in it was really good, but it wasn't just the acting, it was the chemistry that they played off of, you know, each other. Because okay, I was talking to my son, well, Andrew. And Andrew and I were talking about this, having our deep discussions, and he goes, Oh, yeah, I can see in college, you know, the kids acting the way that they were acting and things like that. I'm like, you know what? I agree with you. Yeah, I can see that too, Andrew. Uh-huh.

Shout out to Andrew, who we know is listening to this, by the way. Yes. You're mature now, Andrew. Well, we'll get all the criticism later. No, I'm kidding.

Yeah. But to me, it's like goofy kids acting that way. There's just so many good parts about it. I liked how it started. I liked the make-a-wish. So I I have a question. I have a question for you, and I have a question for all my besties. Because the movie had make-a-wish, what do people really think about that? I mean, they know it's a movie, right? What do you think, Wendy?

Right. I think, well, first of all, the moral of the story, obviously, be careful what you wish for. Yes. Which I hate when a movie's preaching at me, but I have to admit it did work with this one.

It did work with this one. And I'll tell you why I asked this. I asked this because I saw the other, okay, so it's four characters. It's Bear, it's Nikki, Ian, and Sarah. And I was listening to them, all four of them, on a little talk show, and they were talking about the One Wish Willow. And Sarah, she's her real name is Megan Lawless. She said that she was waiting and waiting to get a call back for a casting call. And she decided not to go on Etsy, that she can do it herself. So she said that um she wrote something down, she meditated on it, said some words. Basically, she says she casted her own spell, and then she had very specific candles, and then she burnt the letter. And she goes, Within a few minutes, I looked down, my phone rang, and it was for a casting call. Well, that's a little creepy in itself. I never heard that before. I know, I know. And the funny thing is, it was from the character Sarah. I mean, if Nikki, played by Indy, said that, I'd be like, whoa, this just cements her personality, right? No wonder she doesn't put in the movie. But no, this was from Sarah. I'll have to listen to that interview. Yeah, I just let me know. Yep, yep. I I just thought it was it was, yeah. So, Wendy, you said there was a lot of creepy parts. There is a few parts that I think I could have done without. But you go first.

What are a few of the creepy parts? Oh, one of the first ones was when they first spent the night together, and then he woke up and she was watching him sleep from across the room. And again, they use that shadow play, so you only see her shadow, and he's like, Oh my god, Nikki, what are you doing? And it just makes it look seem more even more creepier, like, yeah, what is she doing? We can't see her, you know. Yeah, yeah. And and it honestly, it's just creepy when someone watches your sleep anyway. And he's like, Come back to bed, you know, like what are you doing?

So I think I don't think she was just watching him. Well, yeah, he okay, I don't think he was she was just watching him, even though he said, What are you doing? And then later he goes, No, you don't watch me sleep. That's really creepy, Nikki. But they were kind of acting in the other scenes, they were in front of a TV, and I could have I could swear to you, it was a video of him sleeping.

Did you notice that? I noticed that there was something kind of creepy on the TV, but I I think it was him sleeping. I think she videotaped it. That is really weird. I didn't catch that though. I'd I actually would have to watch it a third time, and that's not gonna happen. So I think twice was enough for me. I might catch it like you know, a few years from now and and see maybe you know how you re-watch movies down the line, but I've seen it twice in the past several months. So yeah, but no, there was there was a lot of creepy parts. I mean, like what? Uh so when he tried to get out of bed and she started screaming, no, stay. I mean, she had a like a creepy voice, and he was like, Okay, okay, I'm not going anywhere. I just have to go to the bathroom, you know. Yeah, like she started getting really obsessively creepy over him.

Yeah, yeah. And but okay, so what I don't get is the four of them Bear, Nikki, Ian, and Sarah. Why didn't he really tell the other two, Ian and Sarah, how creepy she was? I mean, he kind of did, but then he was like, No, we're fine, we're fine, we're fine. I mean, come on, after she cooked the cat and he's eating it. Yeah, oh, that made me so sick.

Talk about creepy, creep factor. And I didn't even understand that. If she loves him, why is she doing that? I think we're gonna get to that a little bit later, though. Maybe. I don't know, go ahead. No problem.

But I just don't I don't understand why he started. Why did he start by saying, Oh, I like Nikki, I just don't know how to tell her, blah, blah, blah. And then his buddy, Ian, which later we find out was hooking up with Nikki for two years. Yeah, but you know what? I don't know if I totally believe that. I don't know. I think maybe his friend had a crush on her. I don't know. There was never any proof about that.

No, I thought, didn't Sarah say something about it? So well, Sarah had a crush on him, so you couldn't necessarily I don't think Sarah would have lied about it though. Sarah seemed like the most upstanding person out of the four of them. She was the only one that wanted to go to college. Yeah. Well, not that that makes an upstanding person, it's just that she seemed like the most level-headed, which is crazy because she was, wasn't she sort of like goth or something? She did tattoos. Well, she worked in her dad's music store, but like she wanted to do tattoos for a living. But she was the most level-headed out of the three of them. Oh, and I would say the most mature, yes, out of the three of them, the most mature for sure. Yeah, I would agree with that. I would agree with that. And she had a major crush on Bear. Do you think so? Oh, yes. Oh, yeah. Because they they brought that out in the movie. They said that she someone said that she did. I can't remember which character. I think it was Nikki. But well, Nikki said it, but no, I think this was after Nikki was possessed. Yeah.

Oh my gosh, was she possessed? It was like she was two people. She was. And the other entity, the demon inside her, kept on getting stronger and stronger until the demon was sleeping.

Well, that's why I say I don't think in real life that she really liked him. Because I know you had a little bit of a different opinion on that. You thought maybe it could have gone that way and she could have liked him. I don't think she did. I think she did like him as a friend, and then when they took away her free will, that's when she was like started to go really crazy. I mean, she was creepy and possessed, but she was also going crazy because she was being pulped in two different directions the real Nikki and then the Nikki whose free will was taken away.

Yes. I would agree with that. Her free will was taken away, and this terrible thing was taking over her, and yeah. Yep, yep, yep. I can kind of see that, but I do think because when he took her home, she said to him, Bear, do you like me? If you do, you better tell me now. So I think that she was like, she saw how he just kept on. I don't know. You know, the second time I saw it, I was like, what is wrong with you?

I know say something. I guess that's up for debate whether she liked him or not. But I think the moral of it was you can't take away somebody's free will, whether it's something they want or not. You know what I mean? Because he thought he wanted that and he didn't end up wanting what he wished for. And then even if she wanted it at the moment, that doesn't mean she wanted her free will taken away. So I think that's like be careful what you wish for, and also that was another moral of the story, besides be careful what you wish for, is uh free will is so important.

I think it is. I think free will is important, and if you force somebody, if you trick somebody, if you play a ha ha on somebody to get them to act and do what you want them to do, it just doesn't feel the same. And as you saw at the end, he's like, I just want everything to go back to normal. I just want everything to go back to normal.

But nothing ever went back to normal, did it?

No, and what happened when he called that number? And he says, I want to change my wish, I want to cancel it. Well, we really can't do that. Yeah, well, you're gonna have to kill yourself, or he's like, What?

Yeah, yeah, they're like you can't cancel a wish, and they're like, Yeah, they're their only thing was like basically if you die, the wish is broken. Yeah, and that was not an option for him.

No, no, but other than that, I like the party scene that they were having down at Ian's basement, I guess, that everybody was over, and remember, they're like, I don't know, more hocus poca stuff. They were like picking these blocks or cards, and it would say something on it. And when Bear picked it, it's like, kiss the person on your left, and Sarah was sitting there, and that's when Mickey went a little crazy again.

Uh-huh. Oh my gosh, it was kind of hilarious. She went over, she pulled Sarah's chair back, and she stood next to him, like, I'm on your left. And she crept 30 other people out at the party. There had to be about 30 people there. And she had presents, she was just acting so creepy. And then she pulled out some poem. Mm-hmm. Cancel and gretal. Yeah, and it was so creepy, and it was really vulgar. Yeah, and disgusting. To say the least. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I felt that maybe she didn't like him as more than a friend because of that poem, also, because it was about a brother and a sister. Hmm. But you know what? In the end, you never really know if she liked him. You never, you're never gonna find out if she really liked him or not because he didn't have the courage to say anything, and then this one wish willow comes along and takes away her free will.

I just think that one boy or man makes a wish that affects three other people.

Yeah, that's true. It didn't just affect him, it affected well, it affected all four of them.

It will yeah, it affected all four of them. But it goes to show sometimes you just gotta be an adult about things and go ahead and face things and do it yourself. Yeah, that's true. And then this way you'll know if it's organically meant to happen or be, or because let's talk about the end of the movie. Let's talk about, yeah.

Well, there's a few more creepy parts in it, like uh when he tries to leave the house to go to work, and she's not on that shift, and she's like, Oh no, stay. And he's like, I have to go to work, you know, and she's like, No, stay with me. Yeah, and then he gets up and the door is covered in duct tape, and he's having a little stuck, one or two strips, yeah. It was covered, it had to take like 30 rolls of duct tape.

Yeah, yeah. And she's like, Hey, door stuck, you might have to stay home. No, I I got it, I'll get it.

That was hilarious. He's like, No, and he got it open. I think he had to cut it, the duct tape.

Okay, so at that point, shouldn't something go off on your head like, Hey, this is really not the girl that I was really had that crush on. Yeah. And why didn't he say something right then and there to his friends? But he kept on defending himself and herself. Because he liked that she liked him. Oh, come on.

If somebody tried to do that to me, I yeah, I guess that was weird, and then when he finally was leaving. She just stood there and smiled. And you knew, you knew she was not going to move from that spot. You just knew she didn't. And she didn't for what eight hours? Yeah. He comes back.

She's still standing in the same spot. Ho ho ho. Let's just say she didn't make it to the bathroom in time.

Oh, it was so gross. Yes. Yeah. But hey, oh, low budget movie.

It worked. Yeah. Millions of dollars. Millions of dollars. Hey, how about when his friend Ian, when he goes to work, his friend Ian's, uh, he said to his friend Ian, he goes, How come you didn't invite Nikki and I to your party tonight? And he goes, No, you're not invited. You're not invited. Then finally his friend goes, Sure, come. You can come, but not Nikki. You just tell Nikki that the guys are gonna hang out. I'm gonna call Sarah and tell her that she can't come either. And uh he goes, sure, no problem, no problem. And then he's in the car and he goes, Nikki, Nikki, I'm I'm just gonna go over Ian's house. The guys and I are gonna hang out. Oh boy, she's not gonna like this. Yeah, he's like just practicing. He's practicing and practicing. And uh yeah, is that when he runs into the bathroom after he finds her standing there? No, no, she goes in the bathroom, you remember? She goes in the bathroom to clean herself. Oh yeah, she's disgustingly disgusting. Yeah, and he she's like, Hey, I'll clean everything up there, it's okay. And he goes, Uh, I'm gonna go to Ian's house. Okay, I'll go too. And he's like, No, Nikki. She's like, and you hear like these noises in the bathroom, like something's breaking at times.

Yeah, and all of a sudden, when he says no, the shower stops, and he's like, Oh crap. And then it's like, sure, sure, you can come. Yeah, later you see him, they're both there, but then it wasn't Sarah's night. I know Sarah's night. There was a couple other girls there too.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it just continuously goes downhill from there. But come on, Wendy. I think that everything was really good. I think that the way they conveyed the message, I think everything was good. The only part that I am objecting to is when Sarah calls Bear at the middle of the night and wants him to meet her in the park, I think it is. And so he gets up, and of course, that's when the real Nikki is like starting to wake up, and she goes, Bear, bear, kill me, just kill me. And he's like, Nikki, what? And she's like, Shh, she's gonna wake up. So, like that inner thing inside her was asleep, and then like she was, yeah. So that was kind of creepy.

It was creepy, and you could still tell that they were two people at that point, you know.

Yeah, again, she's a great actress. Yeah, but the part that I think I I think that I didn't like is when he goes to meet Sarah, they're sitting in the car talking, and she's about to open up a letter that she got accepted to some college, and all of a sudden, something goes through the side of the car, the window, and grabs her head and starts bashing it against the wheel. Yeah, until she's dead. Until she was dead, she was dead that the first 10 times she got hit. It's the last 50. I mean, I think there was skin on her skelet on her skeleton left. I'm not sure. But there was a lot of people. There was overkill. Yeah, that was a little overdone, I believe.

Well, I don't really like gore in my horror movies. I like the suspense part and the creepiness. But you know, for a low-budget film, you know, I guess they did a pretty good job on that too. You know, it didn't look real though.

On that part, yeah, that's one part it didn't. I will agree with you on that one sentence, Wendy. But I notice you're like, eh, a low budget movie. No, I've seen some uh high budget movies that are so fake and so John Wick. Okay, I won't even go there. I love Keanu Reeves, but I I just can't watch it because it's too bloody and too fake and too this.

I cannot understand how we can agree almost on every single book that we read, but we got differences, strong differences on the movies we like and don't like. I know. Well, I guess that's a good thing, you know. I guess so. You'll convert eventually. So yeah, but I mean, come on. I mean, the way you just said, well, it's not bad for a low budget. I again, I've seen multi-million dollar movies, and I don't necessarily like them. Some of the James Bonds, let's put that out there. I love James Bond, but sometimes there's so much over the top, it's ridiculous.

Well, I mean, you could say you could go either way on that because I've seen other low budget movies. Look at the Blair Witch Project. That was a low budget movie, and honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of that. It was it was okay and it was creepy and it was scary, but I mean, I think that this was a better movie than that, a way better movie than that. Oh, yeah.

The other thing I like about this one is the director, uh Curry Barker, is he's so young. He's so young. And I heard him giving some advice to other people out there, and he goes, Don't wait till you think it's perfect, just start putting stuff out there, and that's exactly what I feel we're doing. It's exactly what we're doing, and we're learning as we go.

Yes, yes. So, I mean, you know, and I think we talked about this before, but with a name like Curry Barker, could you really do anything but direct movies? I mean, that is like such a director name, isn't it? Curry Barker.

Curry Barker, yes, yes, and I do like that he's thinking out of the box. It's not like, you know, I can't make a movie unless I get a thousand investors and they give me a million dollars apiece. Yeah, he's been doing this for a while, making these short little things. And I'm so I'm so happy for him. Really, I am because he had a passion for something and he did it. Yeah, I think that's why. Yeah, yeah. Even if this movie wasn't a multimillion dollar movie, I still would be very proud of him. And I think that he would still be happy himself, too. He wasn't out for the money, he was out to produce a movie. Oh, I agree 100%. I agree. Yeah, okay. So as we're wrapping this movie up, I am sure everybody agrees with me that this is one of the best movies of 2026. No comment, Wendy. Um, so I just want to. Well, I'm afraid to ask this, Wendy. How many popcorns would you give this one?

I would give it three out of the five popcorns. Maybe even a three and a half. Because after talking about it and seeing it the second time, I can really see why people liked it. And a lot of people like this movie. I am in the minority of people.

I would say a lot of the a lot of people who've seen it has seen it a couple times. Oh, I did not know that. I knew we did, but that's because we're reviewing it, so we watched it a second time for the review. Well, I've talked to a certain people person, uh, he has seen it twice. No names watchable. Yeah, really. Yeah. Um, okay, I would have to give this movie five popcorns. I like the actors, I'll justify it. I'll I like the producer, director, I like Curry Barker, I like the actors. The actors look like normal people, normal, no big name. I won't mention any big starlet name that we're gonna talk about soon. Um they were just like normal people, normal kids, like if I'm overhearing a conversation, and I think because there was no a lot of flash, Hollywood flash, their acting really shined. So I would give it five popcorns and I would recommend it.

Wow, that's great. I'll tell you some of the stuff I liked about it. I liked I liked all the creepy parts. I liked that it wasn't. You liked about the creepy parts. No, no, no. I like the creepy parts. I liked it. I like how they did the creepy parts with the shadows, suspense, and the music.

The music was really good. It was there, it built up the creepy parts as you call it, but it wasn't overpowering.

Yeah, I would say the only part I didn't like was when his cat died. Oh my gosh. Okay, I don't like that. I don't like when animals die, and I didn't like when she cooked it. Oh well, we didn't see that part. He just ate it. I know, but that made me feel really sick. But other than that, it was scary. Yeah, I thought it was a solid three, three and a half out of five for sure. I'm getting the eye rolls.

Well, as a matter of fact, we've only seen it once because it's still in the theater. We just saw it this past weekend, and it's called The End of Oak Street. It was directed by Well, it was directed by Robert Mitchell, and it's starring Anne Hathaway and Owen McGregor. Anne Hathaway's been in every movie this summer, just about, I swear.

Yes, I'm not the only one to notice this. I've heard I've seen other movie critics mention that too. But it's about the Platz family who find their suburban neighborhood transported in time due to some scientific cosmic event, which they never really explain. The whole neighborhood is overrun by dinosaurs. There's some humorous parts and a lot of jump out of your seat moments, which I loved. And I've seen reviews ranging on this movie from two to four out of five on this, and I would give it a four. I mean, it was a silly movie, yes, but it was fun and it brought the suspense. It made me laugh and jump out of my seat, and I left ready to recommend it. Was it deep? No. But did the dog survive in the end? Yes. What more can you ask for? I actually thought the dinosaurs were as good as they were in Jurassic Park. Uh, I mean, this was not a low-budget film, though, so to be fair.

Okay, there was like two parts in the movie that really stand out. One, when everybody is terrified, and everybody realizes there's dinosaurs all over, and they tell the kids to stay in the house, and they're walking around with one gun and a shovel, I think. I don't remember. They're walking around with a name. Baseball bat or something, or baseball bat, yeah, but yeah. And they're walking around, and yeah, and she decides that she wants to take a picture.

Really? Well, that was to prove later that it actually happened. That's not why she took the picture, but I realized that that's why they did that in the movie. Okay. So you gotta suspend real belief, suspend your belief a little bit there. Yeah. Because it's not something I do you you don't think we would have taken a selfie if there was dinosaurs running around in our neighborhood? No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't. No, no. I have to believe I wouldn't either. That is true. The other thing was, and this is good on Kim, she caught the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, which I happened to own a pair back in the day, not saying any ages here, but I thought this movie, I swear, the way they were dressed, I thought it was like the late 60s, early 70s. But it was it took place in 1982, so I would have to say that the wardrobe they could have done better. Now, yeah, but the weird thing is some of the critics loved the wardrobe and they loved that you could see um that I think the sun was like a battlestar galactica fan or something like that, and I think they loved all those little touches like that, but we didn't like the wardrobe.

No, because it just seems so out of place. Um, again, I thought it was the late 60s. Yeah, so did I because when I think of the 80s, I think of like the discos. That didn't look like disco material to me, or the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, which is your eye. I didn't notice till it's like.

Yeah, but it also because I think they had old cars because I can date something by a car, and those cars, so their neighbor who was hilarious, also, he had a really old truck. That truck was like it had to be from the 50s, just because he had a truck from the 50s doesn't make it the 50s. I realized that, but I just thought that they probably should have gone a little more with the times and I would have known it was 1980, 80 something, you know. So I that's the only part that I would say I was like, oh, I wasn't that crazy about that, but that's nitpicking. The whole movie's kind of a pretty feel-good movie in the end.

Well, okay, okay, okay. Except the part where you totally don't expect it because uh well, let's just back up a little bit. She, I forget what her name is in the movie. Anne Hathaway. Oh, Denise. Oh, Denise. Yeah, Denise, right? I forget his name, but I don't care. Um, so, anyways, Denise wants to be a writer, and she's sharing her story with this older lady who was the editor for her husband. And here, when she reads the story a little bit, it talks about how she wants to leave her husband and kids and how she even has her suitcase packed. Okay, all right. Now, this movie was called what was this called again? I can't even remember the name of the movie. The last The End of Oak Street. The End of Oak Street. Okay. Coincidentally, Anne Hathaway is in another movie, Verity, where she writes that she's gonna kill her kids. She can't stand them, right? And her husband finds the manuscript. Well, guess what? Her husband found her manuscript in this movie, too. I just think that's a bit odd, don't you?

So, anyways, her husband and her, they kind of say what they should have said 10 years ago, and now it's hearts and flowers, and they're out with a shotgun and a baseball bat patrolling the neighborhood. Don't know why. This big dinosaur is about to get her, and then he comes to her rescue and he's hitting it with a baseball bat. Dinosaur turns around and rips his leg off, kills him. Shocks the battery. Well, that was the second, that was the second one. When I saw his leg, I'm like, oh my god, he's does he's missing a leg.

But I was just gonna say, are you gonna give all the spoilers away? No, I'm not, but she does become a best-selling writer at the end. Okay, she writes all about the dinosaurs. She doesn't have to write about wanting to leave the family anymore because she decides. But she has that picture, right? She's got that picture. After going through all that, she yeah, really. After going through all that together, they decide they want to stick together and that they love each other. I think that's such a happy ending. And again, the dog survived. I cannot stress that enough. That alone. Four out of five. I would I mean I wouldn't rate it the best movie I've ever seen. I just think it was a good movie, and I would I would recommend people to go see it. I couldn't do that. I could have put somebody through that. It's silly, it's fun, it's suspenseful, it made you jump four times, Kim.

But the other part that it seems like the dad had a softer nature to him as opposed to the mother, because when they were sitting there planning on like what to do, the father was kind of optimistic, and the mother was like, Really? You're gonna say that.

Well, but he was lying from the beginning because remember, in the beginning he lost his job and didn't tell her, and she found out in the movie somehow, somewhere, that he lost his job because she's like, Why are you still delivering pizzas? We don't you you got your child with me. Yeah, yeah, you don't need that anymore. And you see him constantly delivering pizzas, and it's like, even I thought, I betcha he didn't get his job luck.
