Good, good. Um, I'm Shelby.
SPEAKER_01I'm Giovanna. And it's good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um the list.
SPEAKER_01I would say the same.
SPEAKER_00Uh feeling fabuloso. Yeah. Pulosa.
SPEAKER_01Fabulosa.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, all right. So today we're here to talk about our creative journeys and the hustle. What's the vision as an artist? Or what's your vision in your artistry?
SPEAKER_01What's my vision in my artistry? I want to be an artist that people see themselves in. Um I I like artists that have a sense of humanity to them. Like they're not like they're relatable, I would say. And that I think that's what I would like to obtain is a level of um people feeling seen by seeing me or when they do see me. They they feel like a sense of like, okay, I could accomplish this, or I can make this happen for myself. She's a thirsty girl.
SPEAKER_00You want people to be able to resonate with your music and maybe feel like they can express themselves through you.
SPEAKER_01Live through you. Yeah. Um, but also I I would say live through me, but also um, it's something that's obtainable for them to do as well if they actually want to make it happen. I I feel like um I put a lot of limitations on myself when I decided to transition. And I think that a lot of people feel that. I feel like people put limitations on themselves regardless, but I think that a lot of um trans people feel like there's a a lane for them that they're supposed to be in. And I think that as we evolve, and yes, I feel like things have kind of gone backwards in a sense, but I do also feel that we also have a lot of space to take up, and we should be taking up that space.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's that's what I want to do with my artistry. I want to um make music and make music that resonates with people, that people feel, and but make people feel good. Like I wanted to have meaning to it, but I also want people to be able to dance and vibe and just um be kind of like empowering, like very chanty and like almost in a way of like like reminding you of who you are, like what you want in life or things like that. That's what I would I'd I uh aspire to do with my music these days. I just want to paint. I like to get messy, but paint with the hands a little bit and come in with a brush with some detail. I would love for somebody to buy one of my paintings. That would be nice. Or all of my paintings, you know. Um I I just I want to be able to express myself and people see it and value it, whatever that may be, whether that's um my music or my painting or like designing or like whatever. Like I just want to be able to create and people be able to enjoy it or not enjoy it. But I want people to be able to feel something when they see what I'm doing. You know, I if I feel like if you're not making if art doesn't make you feel anything, then what's the point of it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think I'd rather you to love it or hate it, but to feel nothing from it, like I didn't do my job as an artist.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. So that's what I want to do. Um what about yourself?
SPEAKER_00I love to tell stories. And if that's through music or visuals, um poetry, painting. I um I think uh I'm just a storyteller, a creative director. I would love to bring people into awesome experiences. I also want to throw crazy cool parties and um incorporate fashion into all that. So if I can build a world of music and fashion and events and parties, that's that's my dream.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What are you doing right now towards your dream?
SPEAKER_01I'm trying to explore more um with my music. I'm trying to embrace not giving a fuck about people um people's opinions or not being so hard on myself when it comes to my artistry, I guess. Or what I I have I I want to be almost close to as close to perfect in my eyes as I would like to be when I'm presenting myself. Um, and I understand that that's not always realistic, and I feel like that has been something that has kind of hindered me along my process is that um not wanting to show people the behind the scenes only the perfect version. Yeah, and I think that um I I need to just stop being so critical on myself, and um I I have uh so much music that I need to release, and I have a lot of stuff that I haven't put out. Um and I think it's time for me to like just lay it all out there and just and then continue to move forward after that. But I I think that it's uh also I've been telling you, I've I've been trying to be more vulnerable with myself and with my art and with um not so much trying to think about what people would like to hear, just what I want to tell and what I want to say and what I'm feeling, not what I w the world wants to see or hear from me, you know, and I think that's where I was in a space for a while with my art. So I feel like that's where I am right now creatively.
SPEAKER_00Do you think it's fear that's holding you back?
SPEAKER_01Or is it money? Um I would say it's a mixture of both. Fear and money. I feel like um because I I I feel like people could I feel like I could use money as a crutch because I see people doing things and they're doing it like without any. Regardless. Yeah, because that's what they know that they're set out to do and what they need to do, and that's what they're talking about. Exactly. Um, but me on the other hand, because I do want people to take me seriously, and I also am an I'm not like a young, I don't want to say I'm not young, I am young, but I'm not a spring chicken. Yeah, I'm not like so. I want people to be like, okay, she's serious. Like she this isn't play play for her. Like she's taking this seriously, she's investing her craft, she's you know, and um I've slowed down on some of the things that I was partaking in um financially, and I took like kind of like a back seat to certain things, and um I feel like money plays a huge part in my artistry because I like things to look a certain way and be done a certain way, and I think that I need to get out of that space and just create and allow people to see my growth, and it doesn't have to be this full production with you know the videographer, and then his higher videographers shooting BTS and then my creative director, and then like hairstylist and makeup artist, and like it doesn't have to be this full thing. It could just be me and my girlfriends coming together and be like, let's make something happen, you know, because that's what that's what some people do, and like I think that because I started at a certain place, it's hard for me to step back and humble myself in a sense and be like, This is where you are right now because you can't necessarily afford those things because it was it wasn't cheap.
SPEAKER_00It's not cheap being an artist, girl.
SPEAKER_01I hell no. Um, and especially like in people don't realize when you are an independent artist, then you are literally funding every single thing that you do. And I I've seen some people get annoyed by artists like constantly pushing themselves and promoting themselves and this and that, but they're our art is our product that we're selling. So you're not getting annoyed that Fenty Beauty is sending you a fucking email every day with a coupon. You know what I'm saying? So, what is the difference between an artist that's promoting their music? And I don't understand the lack of support that people have for the people that are in their community that are artists. Um I think it's very um, it's a simple repost or a like or a comment like goes such a long way. And um I think it's very telling of people when they like it costs you nothing, you know, and that that's what is crazy to me when it comes to people, but yeah, it's it's expensive to be an artist. I know that you have like a way that you like to do things as well that's not most cost effective at times.
SPEAKER_00My dad used to always say I have a champagne taste for a beer budget. I hate that saying so much, but it feels true at times. I also want to get to a place where I'm okay with showing people where I'm at so they can see what the growth. Yeah, I think growth is endearing. Um, people coming along on the process and seeing you started from the bottom, now you hear.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um but for some reason, like I I love the illusion. I want people to know or think I was here the whole time.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00But I think it shows how true of an artist you are. Like you said, if you can make something shake with just pure passion and will. Um and I think I'm at that place right now where I'm just ready to do it with what I have and do what needs to be done. Just show the world where we're at and know that one day it'll it'll be better. Yeah. Um, as long as I keep at it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I um again, I think that it it says a lot about the people around you. I think that when it comes to your support system as an artist, it's very important to have certain people around you that are willing to support you in the way that it counts.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, it is not easy being an artist because like you said, people don't value you. I I don't know what I'm uh I don't know how I'm trying to say what I'm trying to say. I guess people don't give you your flowers when you need it.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, absolutely not. But they don't yeah, I think that people don't they don't see anything as success or they don't take you seriously until you're sitting there with like you know a Grammy. Yeah, exactly. Like they just think, oh, this is for play play. Like she's having a good time, like or oh, she just finger paints, going to like or she just does her little photo shoots. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Um she just makes her little music, whatever it is, whatever that may be.
SPEAKER_01And I could understand how it could look like that, at least for myself, because I I feel like at the beginning I was going hard in the paint, and then I feel like I kind of slowed it on down. Life happens, life happens, exactly. Um, but it's something that I just I do not want to give up. Like when I decided to start doing music again, it was like I was just like, I have to do this. Like, this is something you've always wanted to do. And if you don't do it, you are going to be so upset with yourself. Like you It's better start now than never start now. And I I think we talked like briefly on this that I I stopped doing music when I transitioned because I didn't like the voice that was coming out of me presenting as a woman. So even now I still struggle with the way that I sound on like the microphone, um, like or my my voice in general. So when I decided to get my voice done, and then I was like, what excuse do you have now? And I'm not like a hundred percent with like comfortability with it still, and I still fight with it at times, but it's just like are you going to allow that to keep you from doing what your passion is? Because this is something that you were passionate about for like a very long time. Like um I remember I think I was like I was in my late teens and Yaya, my grandmother, um, she bought me I think it was Pro Tools. She purchased me the program and I would sit in my room and play with it, and I would just play with it and record songs and I would post them on YouTube and would do covers and all types of stuff. And I wish that that part of me, I didn't allow that part of me to fade out. Um, because I can only imagine where I would be right now if certain things I didn't allow life to get in the way and I didn't allow um things to sway me in a different direction, and I had like this like vision and I wish I I wish I knew now what I knew then.
SPEAKER_00Yes, because I feel the same. Yeah, I see there's an artist out there that we love and hold dear, yeah, that she was just putting songs out on SoundCloud when I was putting songs out on SoundCloud, and I don't want to say hers were any better than mine, but if I just had the consistency that she had, yeah, I can only imagine where I'd be because I see where she is. I'm very proud of her, I love her. Yeah, but I think sometimes that's made to be fuel for us and also to let us know that that could be us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That if we were consistent, like somebody did it, somebody, and not that she's paving the way for us, and maybe she is. I don't want to like give like not give her credit if that's due, but I think she definitely did let us know that if you keep swinging the axe, if you keep being consistent, if you keep doing the work, if you keep showing up for yourself and showing up for your dream, like you'll get there, and it might even be better than you could ever have thought.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think that's like damn near the only thing that gets me going because or gets me by because, like you said, it's tough having to take a step back. I had somebody tell me I fell off a little while back, and that like it really hurt me. And I have to say I'm embarrassed because I think it was because distractions and the relationship and or the toxic relationship I was in at the time, but um I think recently I intentionally took a step back because I do want to start making work intentionally and I do want to put out really good work. And I know we've talked about this before, the struggle I have with making um social media posts and quote unquote content because I'm an artist and I make art, and it's hard to just make quick content when everything for me is so deep and meaningful. But I want to be able to put out really good art and really good content. And I feel like in order to do that, sometimes you need to take a moment and like create something really good so your content and your art isn't just shallow, shallow, shallow. And I can't remember who it was, a very big artist that we also love and hold dear. Um she was talking about how it's okay to step away from the limelight and live a little and actually have life experiences to put into your music. So what you are giving back to the world when you do step back into a position of I guess spotlight, it's of quality and it's not just for the views. Um but that being said, I feel like I have stepped back and started hustling hard because I want to have a product or art that is on the quality level that I want. And girl, the hustle is draining. That's like to also want to like do art after all of the things.
SPEAKER_01That is also like something that um I've struggled with. It's like I the energy that I feel like is taken away when I have to be in hustle mode.
SPEAKER_00Um totally different than creative mode.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, completely different.
SPEAKER_00It's um they could be friends, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01They could they could be. I would like if they were just like in the same realm. I think I what my issue is is I haven't put in the work for myself to figure out how what I want to do. In my life can be my hustle, you know.
SPEAKER_00Like I haven't let you love to make you money.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Like I haven't put in the effort, the energy, or the time to necessarily make it a thing.
SPEAKER_00We're working on it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're working on it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's it's it's in the works. Um, and that is something that I am happy for at least. Um, but prior to that, I don't feel like I was. I I mean I feel like that when it goes into this space of trying to maintain your life and then also putting because I feel like art, I don't want to say it takes from you, but it's like it's something that like you're expressing, that you're releasing, that you're putting out there, and that that requires a sense of like energy that you're putting into a piece or into some music or into whatever that may be. And then if you're uh giving that energy to all these other sources, it's hard to put your all into it. Yeah, exactly. That's what I feel. So I stepped back from my art for a little while. Um at least my music, because I I I'm an emotional painter. I like to paint when I'm like feeling stuff or when I'm going through things, and um so that's something that just continues as time goes on. But like my music, I have to be in a certain headspace to do music. And I'm trying to get to a point where like it's just something that I genuinely don't want to be doing all the time. And I do want to do it all the time, but I want to be able to be in a headspace so I want to do it all the time. And I also think like being in certain relationships have made me insecure about my music due to critique. You know, um, I take people's I'm I'm sensitive about my shit. Okay. I'm a sensitive person in general. Um, and especially when it's coming from somebody that is seeing the hard work and the effort that you're putting into something, and then they have harsh words for you. That and it's it's also the delivery or how they're saying it, or girl.
SPEAKER_00I realized that some of my biggest haters were my partners.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It sucks because you think like you're my lover, but like you they yeah, yeah, I um yeah, I certainly felt that way, and um I was I I not I I like to feel supported by my person, and um when that support isn't there, and it's sad to say that I'm that type of girl that's like I don't maybe I just shouldn't, but girl, I hate to say I've been her, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I like stopped making music and everything just because I had an unsupportive person tell me that it like wasn't even that good, and also gave me a hard time about am I cheating with the producer?
SPEAKER_01And you know, like is the most annoying shit in the fucking world to me. That is so annoying to me. Yeah, I would literally argue with my ex about like so oh, so blah blah blah blah blah. Oh, you was like you were gonna dress me out every time I'm trying to make my own like what are you talking about right now? Like, so then it got to a point where like okay, I don't even want to go, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or you come, but now I don't want to express myself, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I I never did that. Never, never did that. They never came, but like, yeah, never did that. But I I I uh that is something to me, men like that will keep somebody in a position that they want them to be in for their benefit, and I think that it's scary to some people. Like, not everybody is supposed to be with somebody that aspires to be a star. That's a lot to take on, I feel like.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, yeah, to have somebody that is constantly getting the attention, and I can only imagine how it feels because I don't know, because I haven't been in that situation where I hate it when people like we'd go out and people would come up to me and be like, Oh my god, like it's so good to see you, or I saw you do this one performance, and then start like gassing me up, and he's just like next to me. And what am I supposed to do? Just like introduce him, like, hey, this is my boyfriend. Like, no, they're not talking about us as a couple, they're gassing me up, but for my whatever, so I'll introduce you in a second, but like, yeah, I would hate, like they would just like stand there and then hate on it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I I think I I need somebody that's like sits back and is like proud, and like can sit back, allow me to do my thing, and it's proud and happy for me. That's my baby, cheering me on. Yeah, like that's mine. Like, yeah, she's she's dope as shit, huh?
SPEAKER_00I'm glad the world can see this.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. That's that's the type of energy.
SPEAKER_00But that takes a really secure person, it really does because they need to know that I'm a reflection of them and not just stealing attention, yeah. I think it's like that with friends too, though. Like it's not just lovers, it's like there's people out there that have a really hard time seeing their loved ones shine. And I think that's like kind of is on par with the conversation we're having a little bit ago about how it's like hard for our community or people around us to support us and give us our flowers. I've heard it said that it's hard for people in your vicinity or in your environment to show you love when you're succeeding or you're growing, outgrowing that space because you're just reminding them of what they're not doing. You're making them feel uncomfortable or showing the shadows.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I feel like that shows up a lot. I I've I feel like I've had um, you know, right before our beautiful friend passed away, me and her had a long conversation about um a certain individual that I was hanging around. And um she said, be very careful with this person. This person trying to destiny swap with you. Um she said, This has been heavy on my heart, and I have to let you know this. And you never know what someone's intention is. She was and then she expressed to me, she's like, This person is around you because they want to see how you're doing things, they want to see how you move, they want to see how you interact with people, how you engage with people. Like they're they're collecting data on everything that you do. So be very careful around this person. And um she's like this person isn't has no good intent with you. And I think when you're a certain type of entity, people whose intentions are not always pure and um I think that that's something that we have to just be more mindful of and know who is really inner corner and who is really just trying to Right, like when you're this big light, there's a bunch of moths that are gonna wanna hang around or be at all. The insects so um what are some of your hustles or like what are some what are some things that you do to support your artistry and your living or like that maybe odd?
SPEAKER_00I do a lot of odd jobs to make cans meet and to feed the dream. I'll walk a dog on Monday, I'll do stilts on Tuesday, I will do photography for somebody Wednesday, model for somebody Thursday, um create a costume for someone Friday and build sets. I don't know. And every night I go to a nine to five job. I'm a dealer here in Las Vegas and girl, it is it is tough, but I just you know I'll do anything that feels creative, and sadly, sometimes creative doesn't pay very well, and sometimes it pays really great, but it's not consistent, and so I have this nine to five that just drains my soul, and I'm grateful because it pays the bills, but every once in a while I see my sugar baby friends or my spicy dancer friends, or any of my girlfriends that are in the spicy SW work.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it just they make it seem like it's the smarter route. Like it's quick and lots of money, and I can have a glamorous life.
SPEAKER_01It's just deceiving, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I feel like I I have a hustle in me. Like I said, like I'll work odd jobs, I'll work two jobs at a time, 16-hour days, I'll put in long hours, but I just don't know how to hustle men. And I don't care to like deceive anybody. Yeah, I like that's not how I want to spend my time or not even like deceiving, but like I don't want to give anybody a fantasy that I don't give a fuck about. Like I want to create stories and get live like a whimsical fairy fantasy or a merminade fantasy or create like some kind of out of this world like universe in an artistry set. I'll give you fantasy all day, but I don't care to do girlfriend fantasy because that plays with my heart. I don't know how to turn that off. And also I like I need to learn how to be better with sales, um, just for my art. So to sell, I don't I don't know, like, but like damn, like I see the girls getting getting work done, I see them like driving nice cars, and it's tough here in Vegas because I'm like, am I doing it wrong? Because if I just had that money, then I could probably be a lot further in my artistry.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I know we're very different girls, though.
SPEAKER_01We are very different girls.
SPEAKER_00We've um and one thing I do really admire about you is your hustle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We hustle different.
SPEAKER_01We do hustle different. I I took a completely different route.
SPEAKER_00Um you don't care about scamming the men. I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. Can I say that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just um I do not care about scamming the men, girl. That um, yeah, I I took a different route. And I feel like that also me doing that is what I was talking about earlier, that it's draining. It's um to come in contact with so many people and play so many different characters with all of these people and have to um give a fantasy, give them a fantasy and learn them and learn how to communicate with them and how to talk to them and how to finesse a situation. And um I got into SW work when I was like I first started my transition and I've done it all. Like literally, you name it, I've done it. Um it's there's a lot of stuff that I am not proud of, but I'm not ashamed of. Um, I very much live in my reality and I I it's made me who I am today. And I I'm a I was a little hesitant on like in kind of like conflicting on talking about this because I know it's gonna come up at some point and I've already like expressed it, but um there's some things that I'm not proud of, but I wouldn't change anything. Like I I genuinely wouldn't. I I the only thing I would have changed would have been um to not allow it to completely take me away from what my passions were, and because I feel like it's very consuming. Money could be very consuming when you're making it all the time or easy come, easy go, right? So when you're making it quickly, it goes just as fast. So you're constantly on this hamster wheel, it's hard to keep your eye on the price, yeah. And then as you're making more money, your bills are getting higher at the same time. So then you have to continue and keep up. Like it's just like you're like constantly trying to keep up, and it's this cycle that I feel like I got myself on, and that allowed that I I that that was my focus. That's how I lived. What that's how everything was me making money. That's that was my focus, that was my thought process. How am I going to make money? How can I make more money? How can I bump up my prices and have these men like understand why it's that and yeah, I no regrets, no regrets at all. Um, I do want to say that um my vision is to completely at some point step away from that lifestyle, and that's why I'm putting in the work that I'm putting in now. And I want to be an example and like when I was saying that I want people to be able to see in me that it's they're capable of doing something as well. Like, this is what I mean. Like I don't want people to feel as if like this is your only route or this is all that you could do. Um, because again, I feel like in my community, especially when I was younger, um there wasn't a lot of space for trans people to take up. Um especially if you weren't passable, if you weren't blending in society, it was hard to work. I was working at a um makeup stand, and it kind of makes me sad thinking about it, because this is when like everything kind of like went downhill for me. Um and I was just like in this makeup stand on Las Vegas Boulevard, the fashion show mall. So I'm dealing with all types of people, and I'm just this baby tranny trying to be this happy girl doing makeup, and it was hell, it was fucking hell. And then one of my girlfriends was like, girl, I don't know when you're gonna give that a job up and just start working. Like, you know, you could be making so much more money and you wouldn't be doing without because I would cry to her. This was my um trans mother, and um she was like, You're this is how it's gonna be. She was like, I have a bachelor's degree. She was like, I'm a very like she was like, I'm like, she's like, I tried. She was like, it just didn't pan out the way that I wanted it to. So I was hearing these stories and seeing, and I that's not the route that I ever wanted to go down. So, anyways, my point is is that we have more options these days. So, girls that just like stay focused, be like Shelby, walk dogs, do stilts, don't, don't.
SPEAKER_00I mean, huh? I feel like each path has its pros and cons. Yeah, I don't think any path is right or wrong, and I do think the right thing to do is believe in yourself and do the things that are going to get you there. Yeah, because I don't necessarily think walking dogs is gonna get me there. It helps with money, but yeah, I'm not this, yeah. This is exactly like what's gonna get us there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I'm not I'm just saying what I'm saying is is don't do things that are going to make you later on feel differently about yourself.
SPEAKER_00Um but isn't that life?
SPEAKER_01It is life that it certainly is life.
SPEAKER_00I'm just personally very hard on myself. I feel like you are very strong and you live and you learn, yeah, and you make something beautiful of it. I feel like I ruminate and I I will destroy myself.
SPEAKER_01I I just feel like there's no room for that, with me at least. I I think that I don't like to harp on things that I no longer have control over, and certain things if I just if I don't have control over, I don't understand the point of like allowing it to like fester and manifest into something bigger in my head. Um yeah, I'm a very person that's like accepted for what it is. Try to your best to learn from it and just like move forward, um and like just get the fuck up and dust yourself off.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, you know, I I I wanna say I'm a little bit like that too. I do.
SPEAKER_01I think you don't give yourself enough credit when it comes to certain things. I think that you yeah, you you certainly do that.
SPEAKER_00I'm very hard on myself, but yeah, at the same time, you're right. You sometimes just gotta shake it off. A little shake and go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a little shake and go.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, get on. Yeah. I think it just baffles me that there's people out there that don't have a dream, aren't chasing a dream, go to work, go home, and go to work.
SPEAKER_01That are those NPCs.
SPEAKER_00Uh, I would only imagine. I saw a video the other day that was like, there are people that are hired to like I don't know, you know, conspiracies. I love a good conspiracy. Oh, I don't know. Maybe like how people are hired to cause traffic at certain times. No, this lady was saying, like, there's NPCs out there that are hired to like just be in the mall and fill the mall so you feel like it's like a space, like a busy happening space. She's like, there are people hired to ride the elevators and be in escalators and I'm sorry, ride the escalators and be in elevators when you go in there. And I'm like, that's really crazy. The other day I was at work at my table and I was just like watching people walk by, and I was thinking about the crazy future that I have. And I was thinking, somebody's probably walking by thinking, look at that NPC. And I You know, um but like what makes what makes one an MPC and not an MPC like I personally like to believe well I don't know just like our neighbors that we don't talk to like who are the NPCs? Yeah I don't know I feel like there are some people that you come encounter with though that seem soulless or like I said the people who go to work go home go to work go home and like have no dreams they do nothing with their lives like you know Do you have soul?
SPEAKER_01I think that there's okay so I I feel like there's a generation that is very much like that. I feel like it's I don't understand our generation and the generation coming up that are is has that mindset, but I think for the older generation, such as like maybe my mother, your mother, and like older than that, I think that a lot of them just like had to work and have and they don't know the possibilities of the internet and social media, exactly, and they don't they don't see the um the opportunity that's out there or like the fat not the opportunity that's out there, but they it's not that wasn't the time to be like chase your dreams, it was get you a job, or that was the dream, yeah, like go to college, have a family, get a white picket fans house. Yeah, that was the dream, exactly. That was the dream. So I think that a lot of people just got caught up in that cycle, but that also the American dream, that is what people are sold on, and the American dream is that go to work, go home, and feature family, get you a house, get married, have you a stable income. That's it. Be a part of our matrix and a part of our system that we have going on here, and make our end and run for us, and you will be a cog in the machine, you will work until you can't work anymore, and then when you can't work anymore, we're going to put you on this very strict budget because you put into your retirement or your social security, and you are going to have to now live the rest of your years, wither away all your numbers and your bank account.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I want to live now and I create a life that funds me till I die, and I don't feel like I want to retire from.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it builds a legacy enough to feed generations moving forward.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. That's the plan. Like, that's the plan. Like, I want to be able to take care of my niece's kids. Like that's that's what I want to do. Like, I want to be able to have that much money to where it's just they're just almost like Nepo babies. That's my plan. Pinky. Oh, you're the brain? I'm no, I'm not the brain. I'm just that's what I would say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's where I'm at. Like, I yeah, certainly be a I'm gonna be a force. Like a powerhouse of a a woman that is just I think she's in you.
SPEAKER_00I think we're we're um activating her.
SPEAKER_01Activating. It's like it's like on the power's on now. She's she's she's warming up.
SPEAKER_00I think what we're building here is gonna be amazing. This is just the start of I think with what our music and our art is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think we'll we will. I see it for us. We're gonna get to a place where we just live and the money flows, and when it's time for us to go, there's still abundance coming from what we left behind.
SPEAKER_01Living in a space of scarcity is like the worst thing you could fucking do. Um yeah, I that's that's that's not where my it's hard to be a creative and what am I trying to say?
SPEAKER_00It's hard to have a poverty mentality or a scarcity mentality when you're an artist and can create anything out of anything or out of nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like they say that most people that become rich or wealthy that were not born into it, they had the mindset of that person before it actually took place. Oh, yeah, they were living that way before it took place. Like, um, but when I do that, sometimes it fucks me.
SPEAKER_00Granted, but does it because you're not fucked today and it seems like you've always figured it out? Always figured even when you fucked yourself, yeah. You always got out of it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but what I'm saying is is there's times where like I'm just like swiping my card, swiping my card, swiping my card. And then it's just like, oh, one day I'm just like, maybe you should look at your balance.
SPEAKER_00Just see the cost of things. Got it. Remember that or did did I share with you that video on like what what do things cost? And it was talking, well, there was two videos. One was the difference between a cost and expenses. If something, I'm sorry, something being expensive and someone something being costly. And it was talking about when something's expensive, it means that there was wasted resources, and that caught like that was expensive. But when something is costly, there's value to it, and there's going to be some kind of exchange that needs to be done in order for you to get that value from it, and so it costs you. And what am I trying to say? Something that could be seen as a big price to pay. A lot of times people are like, that's expensive, and it could be expensive if you're wasting something. But if it's a big price to pay and it gives you value, it's just the cost that you needed to pay. And I think sometimes with our dreams, we are not willing to pay the cost or what is it going to cost us, and sometimes time, energy, effort. But sometimes you gotta be delusional about the cost and just swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe.
SPEAKER_01I think it's best to be that way. I I I'm in a place now when I know that like I'm I'm never going to be homeless, I'm never going to be starving, I'm never going to be, and I could confidently say that. Like, um, and people love to say, Well, never say never. I'm saying never. Like, I will never be in those positions.
SPEAKER_00I know that I can create a world that I will always be fed in, and the loved ones that I surround myself will always take care of me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. And I'm I'm very much in that space. Like, I don't I don't feel the need. Um, I used to feel the need like to be on this hamster wheel all the time, and occasionally I'll hop on when I want to go out and you know play. But for the most part, I just like to enjoy what what what it is. Which is like I'm I'm able to I us doing this has really had me take a feedback from certain things and open up my eyes and make me realize that um if I put the time and energy where I need to put it, it'll pay off. And I genuinely feel and know that everything that we've put into this is going to pay off for us. And with that, it's just all going to pay off. I I could say that very confidently. I I know for a fact we're on our right track.
SPEAKER_00I heard it said once that when you're working on like five things and four of the five things aren't working, work on the one thing that's working and the dam will break for the other four things. And I think I have a bunch of artist endeavors, you know, my fashion, my music, my, you know, creative direction, whatever. Um and I felt like a little stuck there, but this has brought flow and reminded me that I can see things through and can do what I put my mind to and I can bring my vision to life that I feel like the dam has kind of broke in those other areas. Or if it hasn't, it will. I think this like yeah, I think pouring into what is working helps the things that feel held up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. This is just going the I feel like this is like, yeah, this is just the the dam is being like torn down. I feel like the water is just gonna kind of pour into every crevice possible.
SPEAKER_00I feel like this has also given us a great platform to express our artistry as well. Like to get out the message of our music, and I feel so grateful for all like the sets that we've built and all the photo shoots we've done, because you know that I hold that near and dear to my artistry. I know that it it inspires yours too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm yeah, I'm very I'm pleased with what we've done here.
SPEAKER_01I'm so am I. Um I I'm I think it's time for both of us to have a change in our lives. And I think it's stop the hustle. Yeah, and just time for us to have a break. They did say that um there's something like for Leo's and Taurus, I believe, that things have been kind of like in a space for us for I think they said like seven years. Um, where I think our chart was in Uranus, I think.
SPEAKER_00I think I kind of know what you're talking about. Um, life is just beaten on your ass, but now it's go time.
SPEAKER_01It was like April 25th, it was like everything's going to shift for you.
SPEAKER_00Oh, was that two days ago? Yeah. Did you feel it?
SPEAKER_01I I've been feeling it, even coming up to this, but it made sense to me. Like it made sense when I seen that. I was like, wow, okay, this makes sense. And but both of our signs were on the chart of the list of signs that are in this space to have the weight lifted off their shoulders a little bit.
SPEAKER_00It's go time, it's go time. Girl, I'm tired of being humble. I'm tired. Uh yeah, I feel like if we just like personally, if I I feel like if I just like I've said this a few times, but if I just let myself be me. Be you authentically and unapologetically, I feel like everything will just fall into alignment. Yeah. I hate that I hold myself back, play small. You don't do that anymore. That's not me. Yeah. Who's that girl?
SPEAKER_01I don't know who that is.
SPEAKER_00And change the story up. I'm black cat.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. A random, I get what I want. Who's a Labrador? We don't know who that is.
SPEAKER_00What is a Labrador?
SPEAKER_01We don't know. I bet you has dog.
SPEAKER_00What is dog?
SPEAKER_01Sita.
SPEAKER_00No. Yeah, girl. Um, I feel like we had a good conversation here today.
