The law of Moses says We must stone her to death. What do you say? Jesus was the target. If he said yes, stone her, he would have broken a Roman law. So he would have had problems with the Romans. But if he said no, don't stone Rabbi. So Jesus being Jesus, he says this. Even though he was God, he had not usurped and descended. And descended and descended and descended. And descended.
