Alright, man. No, I'm just kidding. I'm not talking about that AI garbage. Number six, I have the backrooms directed by Kane Parsons and Cheedy L4. I believe that's how you Yeah, Cheetah Way L4. Cheetah Way L4, yeah. I said Cheedy, like it's the good place. It's a character. Yeah, you're good. You're good. Yeah, I try to describe this movie. I made a bit, I made a little joke, the same joke last night in the video I made, but I try to describe this movie, but it's like trying to describe a dog from memory.

I enjoyed it a lot, but like just for different reasons than the other ones on my film.

I thought even though I didn't have any background knowledge going into this movie, like my sibling who would watch all the YouTube videos, I know about the original 4champ, and I've seen all like I had seen all the stuff online tons of times, but I never really dove into the lore specifically, but I knew the general concept. But for someone going in with pretty minimal knowledge, it worked really well. You didn't really need to do a bunch of homework or have a bunch of pre-existing knowledge about the backrooms. Do you enjoy this movie? I took my dad to see this. Did he jump out of the goddamn seat? Yes, but did he enjoy it? Yes, he did. He had no knowledge of this shit, and he's like 60, so like that makes more sense going in blind on him.

That's that's another thing that's like so amazing about this film. Is it's such a niche concept, but like it's working for such a great job of like keeping it like bare bones of like we're talking about this backrooms, you're exploring it with Cheetah Way or Clark in the film. You're exploring this new thing with him. So you're learning it, the audience is learning it with the character, and it works.

No, you're fine. Um, Master of the Universe, because it is my six. Whoops. Um, is a very fun and enjoyable film. Like, the reason it's on here is because we walked in as it was starting, and I was ten minutes late to this movie. Yeah, because the lines were long. But like, I'm telling you, I never laughed and had a smile on my face for so long in a film in my like in the year so far. Like, I sat there and I'm like, wow, this was so worth my time. Even though it's not a it's not an amazing film, but it's fun and it understands that like it's a He-Man film. You you got He-Man characters named Fisto, Ram Man, Skeletor, Evil Lynn. You have these characters with these ridiculous assets. Man at arms. Yeah, man at arms, Duncan Man at Arms.

Like You know, I really did enjoy. I don't think this movie got a fair shot for a few reasons. One, it's a He-Man movie, and not that many people give a shit about that IP in 2026. There's not like a lot of natural He-Man fans uh just finding it on their own. Uh Jared Leto being in this movie also holds it back. Remember, we made we made posts about this movie, and people were literally commenting Jared Leto.

He just takes a weird aura into like films and he makes it about himself, but in this one I think it helps that he's literally not seen, it's just his voice.

And I think it's barely his voice. I think the egotistical nature of Jared Leto in a meta wake really works for Skeletor. Kind of self-absorbed, they are just two sides of the same coin, honestly, and it it makes the character work on a whole nother level. Yeah, no, um it's very similar to the way like Mario Supreme, the way they were casting characters, was based off who they really were for like the actual actors, like Wynneth Power being an older actress, Timothy Chalamet being obsessed, all that stuff.

That movie, unfortunately. Actually, it might get a sequel. I mean, yeah, Jeff Bezos is a big He-Man fan. Reportedly, we don't actually know. I saw a tweet that said that. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not a big I I'm not with big uh Bezos. I don't know what's going on.

Yeah, my number five movie of 2026 so far. I got The Furious, directed by Kenji Tanagaki. Uh he was an action flick. Yeah, he was a stunt choreographer for years. This is his first feature film. He's got another one, uh, through Lions Gate, I think it is. Um, don't at me on that, but or don't quote me on that, uh, with Peter Dinklage in it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember this. Yeah, I don't know how that's gonna work if it's another crazy choreographed movie. If Peter Dinklage could physically do a bunch of stunt choreography?

But um That's our review of Game of Thrones.

Uh but back to the furious.

Ah, yes. Um Well, it's directed by Stunt Coreography Silicious. The fighting the fighting in this movie is phenomenal. It opens up with um this female journalist going through and trying to just work on a story, and then she finds these kids that are being uh abducted, and it just goes into an aw-outbreaks fight scene, and it starts from the go just you don't really expect going in. I didn't really know anything about the director going in, obviously. Of course, yeah. But the way it's like a kung fu tango, like the way it's so fluid, the camera moves with everything, it's not a lot of cuts, so it in the the action is just seamless. It's John Wick-esque, but I think dialed up to like 11. Okay, okay, yeah. There's also one there they just I love John Wick. I know you do. Uh you love the battle arena too. I I think it's really good. While I do think the movie's a little campy in certain parts, like it feels almost like Street Fighter-esque with like the plot armor, obviously, like these people are surviving these massive brawls that they should all die in. But just it's very similar to also Taken. Like it's just about a mute father trying to track down his daughter who's been kidnapped. But just watching despite him not talking, like you could see the love and admiration he has just on his face. And he does such does such a great job conveying that with no words. And I really did love that. And there's also a lot of moments in this movie that like will leave you utterly shocked. There's one scene that left my entire theater gasped. Uh, I don't want to get into it because I don't I want people to see that naturally, not spoil it for them. But if you get it, you're gonna see this movie soon. You haven't seen it.

There's also it's almost anime-esque. There's one there's one scene in particular in uh The Furious where it's a 2v2 fight, and then there's a fifth person that just kind of wants to fuck everyone up. And it does this shot where they're all getting ready to fight, and then it cuts to all their eyes and stacks them all. And it was really cool. It reminded me of like a Dragon Ball Z or something like that. I don't know if Dragon Ball Z actually does that specifically, but just the way that fight goes, and then to seamlessly carry a narrative of five fights going on, but not having to a bunch of cuts, even though it's about around a large environment, and for it to move so seamlessly like that was just really cool to see.

Yeah, it's a pan-Asian movie. I think it's it's in Thailand. They don't really specify, it's just like it could be Bangkok. I really have no idea. They don't really specify. It could be set in the 80s, but it it also feels like it's set in 2026. I know it's set in 20.

It's awesome. Yeah, but uh No other choice. One of what's one of my favorite films of this is five. It's one the fifth film that I enjoy uh of the year. It is about a businessman that works in paper who gets laid off and his entire family uh financials get thrown out of whack. It's like if Michael Scott kind of got screwed over by Dunder Mifflin. Yeah, and so he finds a role and realizes that he's not the top applicant in the role, and so instead of, you know, working his charm, he's like, what if I just take out of the competition?

Yeah, and he takes out his competitions and makes them look like accidents and things like that. Um I don't know. I loved it. When I saw the film originally, I was just recently fired, so it resonated with me very differently.

I remember when you called me and told me to watch it. I didn't get a chance to see this in theaters, sadly. I've seen like twenty-seven movies in theaters this year. This wasn't one of them, sadly. I just didn't get a chance. I mean, it was only in theaters for like a week.

Yes, and I think it's a fantastic film. If you hadn't seen it already, it's uh very enjoyable film. Uh got class struggles, it's very funny too. Um class struggles, um, get these like family drama that's mixed within. Uh it's also a very wholesome, heartfelt film, too. It's I don't know, I enjoy it. I don't have much else to say about it. It's a film that I need to watch again personally, because at the time that I did watch it, uh I was in a different mind space and different time in my life. So I feel like revisiting it again will give me a new light onto this film and appreciation for it.

I really enjoyed the movie. I thought I had a lot of humor. Uh, for I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was, and so I don't know what good word to use, but so with the sensitive topic being so front-handed with it, and then putting out how letting everyone's reactions showcase what kind of person they really are. Yeah. And then having all these people judge her after they just got done saying horrific things they did, and they actually did those things, and hers was just a theoretical idea. Yeah, she she But the movie was hilarious, like when the computer restarted. Oh that killed me. Honestly, her going deaf was really funny too.

I it to me is it's a fantastic film about like uh I think learning how like forgiveness and how much you love a person and personal growth, because people grow and change. You aren't the same person you were in middle school or high school than you are right now. I'm not sure if you are. We have problems genuinely. I think you do need to some Peter Pan syndrome going on. Yeah, you need to evolve as a individual, and some of these people are just averse to growth in the film, which is just very fascinating.

I haven't seen any of the Dunes, I'm sorry. I mean, this is the only he's only gonna be in Messiah, so. Well, you know, I'm really excited for Batman Part 2.

Uh yeah, this movie was great. It did some shit with a bore and a knife with some testicles that really scared the shit out of me. It almost made me tear up the same way as Dylan O'Brien. Very, very, a very Sam Raimi film. It also makes you ask, like, not a question, but it was also really interesting to watch a Linda's character, Rachel McAdams, transform into someone that you really were rooting for, and then watch her do this horrible thing. Yeah. And then you're almost like, ooh, I don't know how like I still want you to beat Dylan O'Brien in this specific scene, but I don't necessarily love you either. Honestly, I didn't really care if she killed him, but I was more like, I don't really care if you win or not. Like if Dylan Bride won, I would be like, ah, but you killed. That's a spoiler. But uh she killed a girlfriend, which was wild. Yes.

Indirectly. She did shit on purpose. Yeah, she did it on purpose. Watching somebody fall off a cliff when you can help them is I think you're actively participating in somebody's death. That's valid. Um, what I really love about this film is like Rachel McAdams' character uh watching her watching the the role, the the power dynamic flip and the island and the office space paralleling so well within the film. Really fantastic.

Uh I loved how they try to make Rachel McAdams look not attractive. Yeah. It didn't work that well. I mean, that one scene with the tuna specifically did kind of work, and I wanted to throw up a little bit. I was if if I was Dilda Broad, I would have reacted the same way. Not the smell by hand part, but the horrifically grossed out part.

Uh, my three was Carolina Caroline. I I personally love this movie. It was just uh Samara Weaving and Kyle Gowner, uh directed by uh Andy Andy Rodney. Reiner, I think is I believe the rec the director. Uh the chemistry between the two of them was just phenomenal. Like from the jump, you can really just tell that it the f characters felt like they were really in love. Um and I loved watching uh Samara Weaving's character slowly fall into the world that she was getting into, like with the crime and all that stuff. But then watching her it for it was fun for her, then seeing then her sorry, I don't know. It was fun for her, but watching her actions affect others really took a toll on her at one point. You can really see it in her eyes, and the way that makes her kind of regret everything she's starting to do was really interesting. But then by the end, she's decided to still continue on going with the con, despite losing Kyle Gowner later in the movie. I also just thought the set work was great. Uh they shot it in 25 days. I don't believe it was all shot in chronological order, but it was for the most part shot in uh order of the story, which I thought was really cool. Oh, okay. And Andy Reiner is also, I believe I'm Yeah. The director's name, I got it right. Yeah, he also directed uh two other movies. I like he directed uh Snack Shack, which came out in 2024, as well as Dinner in America, I think it is also starring Kyle Gowner, um, who you may know, well you probably don't know, but he was Bart Allen on the Flash or the Smallville TV show. He played The Flash. Huh. Impulse, actually, is technically who he played. They literally called his character Impulse. And Bart. Yeah, Impulse Impulse and Bart Allen, who is from the future. No, what's funny is actually I can tell you, so in the f it's season three or four, I believe it is, that he shows up, but he steals Clark's dad's wallet or whatever, but then he goes and finds him in the hotel room and he pulls out his wallet and he has all these fake IDs that one says Jay Garrick, one says Barry Allen, one says Wally West, and he goes, What's your real name? And he goes, Bart. Which I thought was really funny after you learned about the comics. They chose the most obscure one to make the flash of the small bill TV show. You know, yeah, go off, I guess. It was funny. Yeah, no. Um, but he's also in the movie Smile, uh, Samara Weaving, Love Her and All the Ready or Nots, uh, Babylon. She's gonna like a good scream. She does have a good scream.

Uh what I really loved about Disclosure Day is such an empathetic film. And what I mean by an empathetic film is that it takes an effort to have you care about like it makes an effort to show to care about individuals because um Emily Blunt's character, she can she's practically an empath. She'll look at somebody and like see what's weighing on their soul the most and connect with them. And you don't often get that in sci-fi. You don't get sci-fi that um often tries to connect with humanity in like a positive light. Usually sci-fi is something that like shines negativity on humanity. And Disclosure Day does the opposite of this. It's a movie about all us coming together from one common goal, and this common goal is to be like, hey, everybody's understanding like learning that aliens exist. And another reason why I am a big fan of it is the way it handles religion within sci-fi in this aspect. Um, it's handled with so much care and grace and like thoughtfulness because so often in sci-fi too, we are religion and and s uh science are often clashing or the lines are blurring that you can't really tell the difference between like what is religious faith and then what is a scientific miracle in a sense. It it blends and it flip-flops. But in this one, uh they're in like a sort of harmony. And I don't know how else to describe it bes besides that they they coexist in a perfect ecosystem where they acknowledge each other and say instead of we both can't exist at the same time, it's like why not both? Why why can't both not be true? And I really love that. That was very beautiful.

You can really see what he can do as a director early in his skits and how kind of talented he is. And you could see why people would go and see it based off just seeing these skits. It's intriguing to see someone our age, who's like 24, put out a movie like this that gets into theaters and gets distributed widely. A lot of kids, not kids, a lot of adults or young adults can make a movie that gets at least released in some way, but to get a wide release like this and for it to stay in theaters as long as it did, and to do it well at the film festival is to your scale, yeah. And I hope him and Cooper Thompson keep working together for a long time. They have another movie coming out, Anything But Ghosts. It's got him, Aaron, uh, Aaron Paul, and Bryce Dallas Howard, I believe it is. Looks great.

And when I heard this was gonna get adapted to a film, I was so excited, but also worried because book adaptations don't work, but I was less worried because The Martian was so good compared to the book that I I knew that the Project Hail Mary had to hit.

I was I did not read any of the books. I've never read any of Andy Reir's books, but I do love The Martian. I've always loved sci-fi kind of in-space movies. I've never really loved science fiction like as as much as you do, but I've always loved like space movies like Interstellar, Apollo 13, um 2001 and space odyssey, obviously, but I've always I really love the Martian specifically. I think it's because both like the Martian and Project Hill Air, you're just watching people be really smart in a critical life situation, and it's almost like composite porn. Yeah, you're just watching these dudes be really good at what they do, and it's really satisfying to my brain, and it's really rewarding to actually see these things like you saw them when they were at their lowest, get to go from point A to point B.

And we get introduced to Dr. Kelson, played by um Voldemort. I can't think of the guy's name right now. Ralph Phineas. Ralph Phineas. And this one is a different style uh from the first one, but it's also still such a beautiful film, too. In the beginning, the beginning of the film is very hard, I will warn you. Like it is very hard to get through like the first I heard it's really grotesque. Yes, and like people walked out of the theater. Yes, yes.

And then the the second scene is Ralph Phineas uh doing his best devil impression uh to the what uh Black Sabbath I believe no Iron Maiden Iron Maiden yes uh we googled this last time oh it was uh Mark of the Beast Number of the Beast I got you give me one second uh it's one of those names Mark of the Beast Mark of the Beast I see I knew I yeah no no the number of the beast number of the beast okay I said one of the two I said both of them but uh I don't know I typed in Mark and it filled it with Mark of the Beast yeah number of the beast Google screwed us yes but uh they're screwing movies with A24 yes uh that entire scene was just so fun you could tell Ralph and he's having a ball and was giving it his all Nia de Casa fantastic direction on it um not a lot of people saw it and then that's just like a common theme with her films though which is so depressing uh not a lot of people saw it oh um Hilda I think is the name of the film with uh yes it is oh Zazzy beats no no Tessa Thompson yeah Tessa Thompson yeah Tessa Thompson's in it I think it's Hilda I think is the name of it I'll fact check it. Yeah while he's looking at it real quick but HETA HETA okay yeah I don't know where we got Hilda but yeah with age close enough close enough um that's a film I hadn't seen yet I might definitely check it out Nita Costa is a director that I am going to make an effort in to following and I recommend everybody do the same.

No no no no no no you're telling me that Brave New World would not have made a better TV show you could have fully drove into Classic what they did for uh Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it was awful. No they should have made Falcon and the Winter Soldier the movie and Captain America Brave New World the TV show because Captain America Brave New World you don't I don't really care about Sam outside of being the Captain American aspect I don't need to see his family struggling to buy a boat or whatever the fuck it is. I wanted to see him struggling to be Captain America and learn how to use the role and deal with the stuff he did deal with in the show but put that into a movie and make him like get the role back and then make my problem with what you're saying is purely because in Captain in Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Captain America and the Winter Soldier when the the show gets renamed at the end of the show we we get that journey of Captain America earning his shield. Yes I know that and then in the movie it takes that all we get again. Yes I'm aware my point is they should have made that the they should have had the movie come out first this would have been a better been a better side story TV show because you could have made it like a spy thriller with John Carlos Esposita's whole side thing you could have had a long long like op like long reveal of who the main bad guy was and then it gets revealed as the guy from Incredible Hulk that'd have been at least cool or interesting rather than the movie the leader thank you it would have been cooler to do that if you're gonna if you have to have a Captain America movie and a TV show like there has to be they should have just flipped those two ideas so that's my only arguing point. If you were going to make these two stories flip them they would have made better TV shows and better movies.

There was just too many ideas going on like uh the they had like um John Carlos Espazita's character doing some bullshit they had not much Isaiah Bradley kind of shoehorde to the movie they had the one weird Asian girl they had the little uh black widow not black widow israeli girl yeah that was supposed to have a bigger role in the film but I'm thinking like but why this is a Captain America film I don't give a shit about her and you could you could tell that like this movie had too many like pieces cobbled together but there is a competent film within there. Too much dip on your chip and then I I just I just wholehearted disagree with the idea that they should have been flipped. I I think in general I think we should have gotten uh I think they both should have been movies because they were both film like movies.

I think I had more fun with last year's slated movies. F1 is an absolute such a rewatchable such a fun time at the theater Thunderbolts is better is a great movie. I didn't love Fantastic Four but that came out in July so I'm not gonna count it Sinners is one of my all-time favorite movies and I think that alone just gives it a little bit of a bump to me.
